I really do think though that if the money aspect was taken away, or idk, significantly toned down, I wouldnt feel this so badly. But as it is, watching a produced vtuber means also watching grotesque amounts of money being tossed at fictional character designs. And I always, always emphasize that it's the character design, because what else are people REALLY appealed to by these vtubers? Oh their charming personalities? Their amazing sense of humor? I dunno if Im just COMPLETELY missing the "funny ones" but every vtuber I catch has the same few jokes, which is, "making a lewd/teasing comment about in-game circumstances so that it can be applied to them (aka applied to their character design)," or "repeating a pun someone made in the chat." Am I just alone in thinking these people just arent very entertaining??? And please, please try to imagine with me how lively these folks would be WITHOUT the thousands of viewers -- imagine if there was no chat, no superchat. How entertaining are these actors? Oh-- well, don't worry, we dont have to imagine much, because most of these vtubers barely even glance at chat -- a lot of them will just ignore superchats! The thing people spend money on!! The parasocial relationship between these produced vtubers and their audience, it's so public, it's so... sugary toxic. I guess I'm just traumatized from a lifetime of poverty but it really does sicken me to see people who are just... addicted to vtubers, dumping hundreds of dollars habitually just so they can sit around feeling like a vtube king. It's so clearly a sexual or fetish experience for so many people. And it drives me up a wall to see these streamers, who just objectively do not have a whole lot of talent Im sorry but they just arent great entertainers on average, it sucks to see them get hundreds of dollars thrown at them lol. Despite the fact that theyre certainly paid by the production company, despite the fact that everyone can see all the hundreds of dollars already being donated onto their laps, someone out there STILL gets the impulse to donate their own hundo, just so they can feel like, what? What part of that is "successful?"

Everything by Memphis is A+ and I love it so if you haven’t you should check out more stuff by them ( No Ordinary Love is super nice, That’s Just Life is very dear to me and so is Divinity, Speechless is… my otp song for every otp ever tbh) -  Bring Me The Horizon is my fav post-hardcore band and both MMF and Chiodos are that genre so if you don’t know them give them a try! (Blasphemy, Run and Doomed are between my faves out of the latest album, and since you liked Under Your Halo you’re probably gonna like Follow You too) the album right before is amazing too if you’re okay with less melodic stuff, but the further back you go with BMtH the harder to listen to they get, just a heads up - Sleeping With Sirens are on the softer side of post-hardcore lately, Fly, Left Alone, Trouble, Fire and Empire To Ashes are some great ones, between the many, and, uhhhh, at this point I might have recced Nothing More a hundred times but let’s make it a hundred and one, try Funny Little Creatures, Do You Really Want It and Go To War out of the newest album! If you’re into punk and female voices you should check out Tonight Alive too, Jenna has one of my two fav female voices in rock right now (Crack My Heart and Temple are the latest two songs out!) and since I always rec stuff but I never rec anything by my favorite band ever, you ever heard of Alter Bridge? They’re more towards hard-rock/alternative metal, but check out Blackbird, Fortress, I Know It Hurts, Cradle To The Grave and Broken Wings just to make it one for every album I really, really adore this band and everything they ever made

It’s not a stupid question, don’t worry!! But I generally like to leave myself in Horikoshi’s hands for this sort of stuff, since I both enjoy the costumes as they are AND don’t want to be disappointed in case what I hope for doesn’t actually happen - that said, I’ve mentioned before that I’d really like Aoyama to get redirectors for his laser on his palms and for Kaminari to get a close combat weapon, since with the quirk he has anything metal would actually work wonders for him! He mentioned a sword, but I rest my case that tonfas would be cool, I really want him to use tonfas. A “costume” I don’t understand is Hagakure’s, by the way - would be nice if she got an actual costume and also I don’t really get why she’d wear gloves at all?? Mirio’s costume was made using his hair, I really want her to get something similar! That’s about it tho, I haven’t really thought much about anyone else in that sense~

Who was your favorite teacher and why were they your favorite? OH BOY......I’m gonna say it’s a tie between my AP studio art teacher and my AP US government teacher from this past year, my senior year! My AP art teacher because our class was super tiny, 12 kids, and it really felt like a family?? She was a-okay with letting us all goof around and say weird shit, she was really chill and funny and like. part teacher, part friend, which was always nice. As for my AP gov teacher, he was SO. FUCKING. FUNNY. OH MAN. NOT EVEN ON PURPOSE he just like? put up with SO MUCH? we had some real character kids in that class and my teacher’s reactions were HILARIOUS. he had a sarcastic streak too so his responses were equally as funny when someone did something weird. He would say the funniest stuff just ask @/harpxer I would tell her so many stories from that class sohboshrb. Aside from the humor that class was really interesting, and he’s a really good, invested teacher - he wanted us to learn, he’s super passionate about government and history, and he always started off each class with 2 current events which was really nice and helped me learn more about things happening in the world too!!! overall that was like my fav non-art class I’ve ever taken!!!!

What’s the last thing you bought (that wasn’t food)? I’ve actually been buying a lot the past few weeks in prep for college/spending a little money for ONCE since I worked all summer. I got a bunch of boring stuff but the things I’m most excited about are: two posters I got for my dorm (The Office is one and one is Lord Huron), a giant wall tapestry (it’s Up themed!!!), tWO BNHA/POKEMON CHARMS THAT CAME TODAY AND EVERY TIME I LOOK AT THEM I START CRYING BC THEYRE SO CUTE, and oh my GOD I BOUGHT THIS GIANT PILLOW FROM TARGET AND IT IS THE SINGLE SOFTEST THING I’VE EVER FELT AND IT’S HUGE AND IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME MY #1 COMFORT OBJECT AND TOP FIVE FAV THINGS IVE EVER BOUGHT!!!!!! I guess MOST recently though I just bought Clip Studio Paint online today (art program) since it’s on sale for 50% off and I’ve heard great things about it!

I like this guy’s design and he has some funny moments, though he;s also a bit of a gender-essentialist jerk sometimes. Which is weird cos he also acts kinda like an anime camp stereotype?? Also there’s ‘the mystery of why grandma lets him mooch in our house and get free bread’ and like... calling it now, before I even know a thing about any of these characters. I’m theorizing maybe he’s also one of these cat-people, and maybe they dont age at the same rate as humans, so he was grandma’s lover when she was young and he still looks the same? OR that he’s secretly protagonist’s real father or something, cos there has to be a reason why she’s a catgirl.

Also: GRANDMA! A pretty plain character design and we dunno anything about her personality yet, but still my ol ‘I’M LOVE GRANDMA’ senses are kicking in XD I hope the grandma gets some sideplots and focus and stuff, I hope she isnt just a minor npc we never see again. Also its kinda funny that they call her grandma in english, even though the voices are japanese. So is her name actually meant to be Grandma, then? I suppose thats a cute little idea, itd be like if an english story had a charrie called Grandma Obasan.

I actually really like this random worldbuilding idea! Thats adorable, imagining people keeping tiny pet elementals to mimic the functions of modern day air conditioning. And its interesting to imagine a species of weird lil blob things that create different elements based on gender- do they do spectacular firework mating dances? Also that design is just very sweet and smol, thank you for brightening my life with this tiny friend. I want a whole story about this air conditioner pet, forget the main plot, give her a promotion!!

Uuuuugh... Its only just started but they ARE having  bit of a ‘men and women cant just be friends, it was inevitable that you’d fall in love’ thing. It just makes me not like the pairing, seriously! If the only chemistry you have is ‘destiny’ or ‘biology’ or some sort of reason they were forced to be together. Its the the ‘show dont tell’ of romance :P

Okay... the worldbuilding is less charming when it just becomes this really obvious low effort excuse to have modern times stuff in a medieval fantasy setting. Why not just make it a modern fantasy if you want all this stuff in it? Its a shame cos the pet elementals was a nice way to do this and this just.. is very much not. Its just ‘because magic, modern technology’. Cmon, give me more creative equivelants!

I DO REALLY LIKE THE LOVE INTEREST SO FAR THO He’s like this super cheerful immature shonen hero type who’s also really sensitive and open about his affection for the protagonist, and thinks the world of her and AAAAA He really does act kinda like a stereotypical cute little brother sidekick, except he’s a gentle giant so its so much more unique and endearing!

I am worried though that theyre gonna reveal this isnt his real personality, or that he has to ‘develop’ out of it or something. Or just somehow their dynamic is gonna change. Cos his secret is that he’s actually a knight, and the opening song was all ‘big sister becomes little sister’ and I dunno if thats just literally because for some reason the catgirls look younger? or does it mean that we’re gonna get some dumb heteronormative ‘protagonist has to LEARN to RELY ON A MAN and he BECOMES MORE MANLY AND DOMINANT’ nonsense... I actually am semi proud of myself that I noticed a japanese pun! Still dunno more than a few words i picked up from anime, lol The voice actor says ‘baka-mono’ so I’m a bit sad they didnt think of another joke instead of just writing foolish. Also I really like the cute art style for the cat! they have some adorable mascot designs here!
