i'll of course be digesting war of the rohirrim over the next few days and criticisms will take shape as my raw excitement abates. that said the movie's reviews on letterboxd are so fucking depressing. you people can't enjoy anything. i hope you die. i hope we all die.
#someone said it's worse than the battle of the five armies. hello??????????#i dont want to make this a gender issue but i cant ignore the fact that the majority of the reviews i scrolled through were from men#which could mean nothing#the film definitely leans on Vibes rather than lore but it's a character-driven story#and i hate to break it to you but tolkien himself is a Vibes type of guy#his unparalleled specificity ultimately serves a world of goodness and beauty and memory and magic#against abject evil and ugliness and the destructive power of despair.#if there's no room in lotr for a beautifully animated Vibes kind of film what are we even doing here :/#they did NOT make every single character hot for 'lifelong lotr fan-' tony to give the movie 1 star on letterboxd!!#war of the rohirrim#lotr

you can ignore this if you want but i cant remember the word for trans med but the term for needing to have GD to be trans. i cant remember it and ive never thought about it much until now but i think the fandom has an issue with idealising the wrong trans people
GD is a needed part of being trans and without that diagnosis then someone isnt trans and you have been on testosterone since july you said and nothing has changed so my question is do you have that GD diagnosis? with no changes and with looking fem because im worried people are getting scammed especially when top surgery is '11k' and you are in england and have nhs and this isnt meant as hate i am just wary of the fact this fandom has a lot of big trans creators and you could be joining on that hype to use the money for school or something
i cant remember the term but a lot of people say GD is needed to be trans and i dont think an actual trans with GD would look as girly as you do most days
WELL if i didn't have gender dysphoria before,,,, i definitely do now 😭😭 good morning to you too? bloody hell 😭 it's 6:40am man 😭
unfortunately !! i cannot ignore this 😭 so just a few notes:
1) you can infact be trans and defy gender norms ! it's actually like,,, the whole point for me i fear. it is infact possible to be a man and wear makeup or look "girly" (bloody hell 😭😭)
2) you can't get regulated trans healthcare in the UK without a gender dysphoria diagnosis,,,
3) ,,,, no changes what if i SOBBED bloody hell okay. this could be because i started hrt july 2023? like. well over a year ago. and thus the significant changes have already occured,,, or. i thought so 😭😭😭 (bloody hell x4)
4) i still have EIGHT years on the nhs waitlist. and i've been on it since 2021,,,, so like. yeah. top surgery is free with the nhs,,, if you wait that long. and like,,, don't top yourself in the meantime. private healthcare is expensive idk take it up with the government or smth.
5) "using that hype" ,,, i cannot remember the last time i went more than two days without a transphobic comment or dm from people IN this fandom 😭 or the last time i went a full day without watching someone profit jkr without a care in the world 😭 or cry over sirius in makeup 😭 i assure you, this fandom is not very ally a good 70% of the time and actually makes my existence in this space v difficult 😭 (evidently oh my)
6) GIRLY 😖😖😖
,,,, anyway. good morning guys. lovely weather init (bloody hell)
#asks#i cannot tell if this is /srs or not but on the off chance it is: hi. wut da flip :(#is he (😭) laughing or crying or both#it's both#HELLO 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭#the one time i wake up before 1pm chat

i really appreciate discourse on penelope featheringtons character but it also reminds me that some people dont understand that she's not supposed to be this amazing gracious person. shes flawed and loyal and stubborn and she's also, guess what - 18 years old! i cant think of one good decision i made when i was that young and she has so much pressure to be what shes not.
penelope is not a great person, and THATS THE POINT. she's flawed and makes many mistakes and in the end, were some of the things she did selfish? sure. does it make her the devil reincarnated? no.
people is a teenager that has two friends and is ignored by her family. she is 18 and on the marriage market. she doesn't have much say on how her future will turn out but she DOES have a platform.
penelope is doing what she can and protecting her loved ones the only way she knows how. is that a good way to deal with her issues? not at all. but she's not perfect and LW is the only way people hear her (eloise only listens to her occasionally). you can argue all you want about her not deserving colin but its not like she's publishing things that aren't true or would not have come to light later on.
the point i'm trying to make is that female characters shouldn't have to be angels for the audience to accept them. i dont see one word about anthony when he attempted to literally KILL his best friend in a duel, or when he tried to place his sister in an arranged marriage when she wanted to marry for love. anthony is flawed too but the fandom sees past that because he was protecting his sister. but then what was penelope doing? how is that easier to excuse and look past? was she not protecting eloise and colin from worse fates in the wrong way? you cannot pick and choose what characters you give leeway to. especially when it REEKS of misogyny.
women shouldn't have to be perfect for men to love them. same thing goes for anyone of any gender. i'm tired of female characters not receiving the same treatment as male characters who do the same things.
no one ever claimed that penelope was supposed to be a good person, in fact nicola coughlan has stated multiple times that penelope is not, and that is precisely the point.
i could write a whole essay on this but i will end it here. stop expecting female characters to be perfect in order to deserve any good things.
#penelope featherington#penelope featherington discourse#polin#netflix bridgerton#bridgerton#bridgerton s3#bridgerton season 3#penelope bridgerton#youre allowed to not like her just please be aware of why#im a penelope defender till i die#colin was a dick to say he would never court her not because he doesnt feel the same but because he told eligible gentlemen#like RIGHT after he told her how important she was to him#i love colin but hes not perfect either and thats why i like him#but people dont hate on colin like they do penelope#and it just reeks to me#anthony bridgerton was redeemed but lets not forget#he tried to place daphne in an arranged marriage#and he tried to kill simon#like literally aimed a gun at him

My parents are currently trying to figure out a way for me to not have to share a bedroom with my brother, to the extent of considering a room in the garden. I said its probably just not worth it, Ive managed living in the room with him for many years, Im sure I can make do for another year and a half, and she said to me "You can't just put your life on hold like that for a year and a half until you move out". And she has no clue that had an entirely different meaning to me.
Yes, I DO have to put my life on hold until I move out, in a much more severe and damaging way than she realises, because of her transphobic ass.
But regardless of the twat saying it and the irrelevant context, I've been dwelling on those words. Its already getting kinda difficult a month into cracking doing nothing. Ive still got about another 20 to go before I even START transitioning and thats far from an instant problem fix, isn't it.
And I already wanted to think more in detail about how it will go when they inevitably find out, but this has presented a nice opportunity to think about it a bit more. My Dad will be absolutely pissed, plain and simple, to the extent that I'd have to make sure he finds out from a long distance for my own safety. He's gotten very aggressive over alot less. My mother, on the other hand, is a much more complex question.
She's the only one I've really ever talked to about issues (particularly issues relating to Dad, as well as mental issues), shes a psychologist so she kinda has a bit of idea what shes talking about. and she has said, on many occasions, that she thinks I'm very emotionally intelligent. She thinks I know myself very well. So if I told her about something I know she fundamentally disagrees with, will she just forget all that?
The thing is, she's been locked into conservative beliefs, but she can be reasoned with. One example was of a general discussion over the existance of gender dysphoria and validity of trans people, and I convinced her that gender dysphoria is real, there are scientific explanations behind why trans people feel the way they do. And she cannot find an argument against me so she resorts to "Okay, people like that exist, but I think most just do it because they think its trendy" cool, an entirely unmeasurable, impossible to back up claim that I cant even outright disprove so it pretty much ends up as her being right because she just knows better apparently. But, up to outright convincing her to change her beliefs, she can be reasoned with.
And besides, if Im so emotionally intelligent, surely I should belong to the group of people who aren't faking it, by her logic?
Honestly, if she was just outright never going to accept me like him, itd be easier. But the fact that theres a genuine question here makes it so difficult. Like, her helping cover for me and keep it a secret from my Dad and Brother while I start HRT is a genuine, possible outcome. Its also very unlikely.
But, if I could convince her Im not making it up, which should work in theory, and if she holds the belief that I can't just put my life on hold, its a forseeable outcome. And I don't know how I feel about that.
(Short bit of context for the next bit) One of my Sixth Form teachers has gotten extremely ill, we don't know the details but basically, hes disappearing for a while and we dont know if hes ever coming back. He is the ONLY member of staff in the school capable of teaching the subject. So, my mother arranged a meeting with the head to ask what happens next, and raised concerns over my education. In return, the head tried to ignore it by pinning it on me, saying I'm struggling already, and basically turn it around on me as if our only teacher isnt disappearing.
So I tried defending myself in a few ways, one of them being, since the last round of tests, Ive been feeling like, ALOT better, better motivated, to an extent that is affecting me on a day to day basis and making it easier to get work done, so there should be a massive improvement since my last tests. So after the meeting, naturally, my mother wanted to know what it was exactly that changed, and I realised I fucked up. The thing that changed was realising I was trans and realising that, eventually, I could be happy, and I have something to look forward to and work towards. So now shes gonna keep asking and wanting to talk about what it was. She keeps asking to go on a walk and talk about it.
And it keeps making me imagine, far into the walk, after she keeps poking and prodding, just going, "Fuck it, leap of faith". Because the more I dont tell her, the more suspicious shes probably gonna become.
idk, theres no real end point to this. This is more of a vent than figuring out my feelings. Supportive relatives are great, unsupportive relatives suck, but questionable relatives are fucking anxiety provoking. This is nothing new Im discovering here, really, this is a trans experience thats older than time itself. But I've never been a big risk taker, so Ill probably just take the long route and make sure they find out as late as possible.

the issue with the ship wars between same sex ships and het ships or shipper of same sex ships getting upset when their ship doesnt become canon
it always annoyed me about how certain people act like same sex ships are inherently more interesting then straight ships when they arent the fact there arent that many canon same sex ships doesnt make them more interesting or more deserving of being canon or getting special treatment where people are willing to throw away buildup to make it canon just due to its popularity or just blindly support it
they also claimed it was homophobic to not make bakudeku canon ( when the whole story portrayed them as like brothers ) while izuocha was being teased for a while bakugou and izukus relationship getting more focus doesnt mean they are obligated to be happen
its popularity is irrelevant
the fact there arent many canon same sex ships doesnt make it obligated to be canon
it reeks of entitlement
its why they are projecting when they claim you would ship it if it was a m/f ship they are the ones who use the genders involved or go but there arent that many canon same sex ships or claim same sex ships are inherently more interesting then het ships when they arent.
or claim homophobia if it doesnt happen when the writer isnt obligated to throw away years of buildup to make your ship happen or to choose to go into that direction it doesnt matter if you claim it is feasible to make believable same sex ships
the yuji x yuko got somewhat teased with a maybe ever after at the end of jjk not the writer wasnt obligated to make megumi x yuji happen and he didnt tease yuji with anyone
and when people get mad and say why cant those two guys just be friends ( as in why do you have to insist any of their platonic moments is inherently romantic) I saw some people throw a fit going well why does your m/f ship ( which actually got teased and build up and became canon) cant just be friends ignoring the fact the m/f ship actually got built up
and they are outright insulting the author and the characters with some of their rants
also they feel like they can insult het ships all they want but if anyone criticizes the writing of bb( a ship which reeks of direction change for they gave blacksun years of teasing buildup mutual attraction adn development while bb got nothing till v6 finale at best where afterwards it was heavily hinted at to the point they try to put it on the level of renora ( where ren and nora talked to each other about their using those two as stand ins which feels wrong ( if it was sun and blake it would make sense for as I said they got years of buildup since v1
be frank the bb conclusion doesnt fit the story they didnt earn that treatment etc even if it was planned from the start what they wrote for blacksun was so much that the best writing move would be to go with blacksun since they gave blacksun so much buildup
)
or korrasami ( a last minute retcon which breaks the narrative pointing to makorra forcing two girls who were barely friends and have incompatible needs)
they claim homophobia and act as if they should be exempt from anone saying bad things about it jsut because there arent many same sex ships in media.
news flash they arent exempt from needing good wriitng or to make sense
they dont get to insult the opposing ship while acting like their ships should be exempt from cricisim
they dont get to go well this het ship shouldnt become canon instead this same sex ship should be canon
and claim its wrong for someone to say that the ship that just happens to be a het ship should become
there are yuri/yaoi fetishists and people who treat shipping as activism both are wrong
people who reduce ships to genders involved are wrong and that applys to people who ship the same sex ships
people who like blacksun and dont like bb dont feel that way because its a het ship and bb is a f/f ship they arent upset at a f/f ship being canon they are upset about the bad writing
so going but there are tons of canon het ships is projection and a dumb take for they dont care about the genders involved
the people who say that are the ones who care about the genders involved for they are the ones reducing it to them
I wonder how they will react if say bb didnt become canon ( which is the right move ) and how would they take it if someone went there are tons of future shows where you can get a same sex ship if that is what you care about so much)

i genuinely think my biggest critique of veilguard is how white it is. like YES there are characters who visibly by skintone and facial features are decidedly Not White. but their writing is just. a white guy dressed up as not a white guy. and bioware has always had the issue of a very white writers room. but veilguard brings that to a head and is Way more obvious than the other games in my opinion.
like moral decisions being gutted and sanitized because that makes people feel bad is whatever for me. im shocked we got a game at all, and there ARE ways to fuck it all up u just kinda have to Work to get that ending. but the companions are just. so painfully white.
like what do you Mean we have an academic elf whos whole Life has been about the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of her peoples roots. and when she learns it MIGHT be less than savory (before any confirmation) she immediately feels the Personal Guilt as if its her fault that people 10k years ago were asshole. she literally starts apologizing and fretting over the fact that all elves are born from evil and acting like she was a slaver! like girl! this is white guilt! this is performative white guilt feeling sorry for yourself because you must be bad because your ancestors are bad!! WHY ARE YOU AN ANNOYING WHITE!!!!!!!!!!! SHUT UP!!!
and then we have a wonderful mixed culture character. whos our allegory for mixed race people since the writers are too scared to touch that genuinely ever again, literally no ones been explicit mixed since alistair IN THE FIRST GAME (from my memory ((2 mighta had a mixed alienage kid quest)) and even then alistairs heritage is never mentioned Ever Again because he hides it!!!). and their personal quest at the end of the day isnt something maybe Interesting to mold, which id argue should have been their gender expression if you wanted something impactful. because that could have led to genuine conversations of hiding for safety or personal decisions that u dont really care that much about correction and expression even if you know something about yourself. but instead what we got was "you cant be two different cultures. you cant be a mix of them. you have to CHOOSE one half of you to be the Correct And True Identity and the other to be buried and ignored". which is so fucking white! what do you MEAN you cant be a blend of your cultures. you have to pick one and ignore that the other exists in you at all????? this conversation would Maybe make sense if they were a young child to give us a moral dilemma. but this is a 20 year old whos ALREADY been blending both of their cultures their entire life! why am i coming in and telling them to knock it off and to pick only One culture, AND THEN THEY LISTEN TO ME????
like i enjoy this game. but dear fucking LORD is the writers room painfully white and more so than previous games
#i still can not believe that in order for trick to avoid writing stuff that Lets players have an option at transphobia#they forced every single player to be racist to a companion and its seen as a positive FDSKJHFS#LIKE WHAAAAAAT DO YOU MEAN. if theres no trick haters im dead#ive complained that this game doesnt have npcs that are racist to u but ohhh my god can u be racist to taash#dav lb#da crit#if u let this post change ur opinion of the game ur stinky. im not in ur ear telling u to hate this game. i love this game#but dear lord are their issues and i gotta write a Single Post to try and articulate the thing that actively pissed me off my entire run#and thats before i get into my I Hate Harding Here She Should Have Been Dagna rant which stays in dms#but u all can know that ive had that thought. kisses u all

I get you I do and I feel part of somethi g I left out since I was writing this before bed is that "non-disordered vs disordered" is just not... a good black or white thing (at least for people who do have CDD) and less about it being stigma one way or the other or a bad word or anything.
Cause we absolutely have a Dissociative Identity DISORDER so it should be fair to say we are "disordered" in the sense that this is a medical disorder yes, but to claim our system is "disordered" and our "plurality" (we dont like to ID as that and dont consider ourselves in the "plural community" thus the " ") is disordered sounds incredibly wrong as we are generally considered to have reached functional multiplicity. Does that erase the fact that I still DO have a disorder? No, but does that mean we identify as a disordered system? Also no.
I don't really care for this as a social society wide discourse or anything cause I really don't care too much on it since Im not really a Label Guy and honestly this was just me having an "I dont like it cause it seems inheritely flawed and leaving out a group of people" response to me sitting down and thinking about how poorly we fit into the black and white disordered vs nondisordered verbage and I'm really only saying it cause I haven't seen it brought up much
(largely due to the fact I don't actively read and engage in syscourse, so who knows maybe it is a talking point)
On a personal level, the labels put me in a position of having to choose to either identify with being disordered or reject the acceptance that I have a disorder - which as someone a decent way down recovery are two things I can say are not mutually exclusive or necessarily healthy for someone in my place of healing.
Of course I say this more so as a hypothetical of "if I wanted to use these terms" cause the real practical solution to my complaint on the term is to not use them - which is exactly what I will do so I don't genuinely expect any large change from this or anything. I just wanted to hold a bit of space for those terms suffering from the same "you cant fit humab experiences and psychological phenomenon into boxes without always having exceptions and people left out" thing that literally any description for the human condition has
ANYWAYS, Im just rambling my thoughts so if this makes no sense just ignore me 😂 Im not trying to start shit, just trying to point out an issue in a labeling system cause
Ya know and I guess this probably is the core context, but I am not and never have been a Label Guy - gender, sexuality, etc. Im also decently anti-DSM/ICD cause those labels are also arbitrary but THAT IS A DISCOURSE Ill probably not have on tumblr cause I dont want to deal with the famed Tumblr Illiteracy 😂 (Not shade at anyone other than this being a hellsite social media and not the 2023 Debate Olympics and Research Convention)
Okay I briefly mentioned this on my personal blog but syscourse endo shit aside, I really personally hate that there is a conversation about things being "non-disordered" because it sets up this arbitrary idea of "the disordered and messed up ones and then me" when the concept of disordered is 1) not a solid or concrete thing 2) a matter of self perception 3) highly subjective and 4) more often than not affected by personal biases
Like this isnt me saying "plural experiences" are inheritely disordered or whatever nonsense would require me to give a shit about syscourse stances - but I just hate whenever "nondisordered" is a term used in like.. anywhere cause of the implications
Like if we are using "plurality as an identity and not DID" like endo spaces do sometimes, then it sounds not that different than "nondisordered trans" and "nondisordered gay". The implications just dont vibe right.
(Aggressive bad faith responses per usual will be ignored and blocked. Discussion is ok, arguing/debate is not.)

honestly i still hate seeing discourse not in the sense that i think anyone’s wrong or that they shouldnt be allowed to state their opinion on x, y, z topic but like jesus its been goin on for so long and all it does is make me feel tired..
#bloook why#i feel like i might b biased too cause most of the discourse i hate involves aspects of what i mainly identify with#but even so just seeing people worked up and arguin abt stuff makes me feel bad bc i cant do anything to fix it#which ive just always felt obligated to do for people even tho i cant#like yknow how a lot of people have issues where they feel like if they cant automatically nail a new skill theyre trying they feel useless#well thats how i am with solving/dealing with other people's problems i think#its like ''if you cant automatically convince someone that kinda wants to die that they shouldn't actually kill themself#then perhaps it is you who should die'' so i just hhhhhhhh#and i kno gender related or ace discourses dont typically have problems like that specifically#but i feel awful because i dont know who i agree with and i cant do anything to make everyone have an agreeable opinion on it#especially if i cant even take a stance of my own#i dont want to ignore the fact that theres a problem because it is an issue no matter what side you believe in#but dhgjhdsfjgdskjfhskfhdsgfkjdfkdjhfd i just dont know anything and i want to know how to give it a good resolve

Hey! I would like an Encanto matchup if it's possible, I saw your post (I don't see it anymore tho) that you had a block, feel free to ignore or delete this if you want :)
My name is Loréna, i'm 16, 5'2, i'm scorpio, INFP, and i'm peruvian and french!
I use any pronouns (even tho i tell people to use she/her to make it easier for them), i'm queer and i don't really have a gender preference.
In appareance, i have straight black medium hair, brown eyes, light skin and i wear glasses!
My friends say i'm kind and funny- I think I try to be nice and polite with everyone as possible.
i like being sarcastic sometimes but not in a bad way at all, just teasing.
I'm introvert, shy and very discret or even invisible to some ppl- I struggle with communication a lot (i'm neurodivergent), I still quiet most of time
But when i'm finally comfortable, I become very random
I love drawing and animating! Listening to music on repeat and being super comfortable and loud with my friends.
I forget A LOT of things, you could repeat me something important 100 times, I could tell you never did. Really depends on what i want to remember but in general... i forget-
I dislike a lot of food in general, I have eating issues (i don't eat a lot) and i'm very picky- 😅 tho I like sweet things! Like milk chocolate, I adore it, it's conforting.
I love cats!
I think i've finish... I'm sorry if some things are confusing, I don't describe myself correctly at all-
Like I said, feel free to ignore, take time for yourself <3 Thank you very much!
hii im sorry this took so long! i feel like it's short but i hope you like this :D
anyways, i match you with... 🥁🥁🥁
camilo madrigal !
he loves the fact that you use any pronouns. camilo does his best to switch it up from time to time and often asks u if youre comfy with certain prns (could never be too sure yk!)
i think one of his fav things to do around you is shapeshift as you. cant explain why, he just does it out of love <3
ok i lied, i can explain why! previous bullet is an inside joke in your relationship. one time you approached camilo while he was practicing how he’d ask you out :]
a lot of your conversations with camilo are laced with sarcasm but it always ends up with you two giggling because why not! once u got comfortable around camilo, you two are just balls of energy bouncing off each other ☀
you two and camilo draw stuff together ! although camilo doesnt draw too much, since he’s busy admiring you (he’d say you’re the only art he’d look at)
camilo makes sure to take notes abt even the smallest things to help u in case u forget smth !
ohhh whenever camilo steals food from the kitchen @ casita, he makes you stand guard in case any of his family (esp. his parents & tia julieta)
^ once he gets back with one plateful of arepas & other snacks on one hand, he has a plate of sweet treats for you on the other!
AH i headcanon that cats dont like camilo but . u two are lovers who love cats !!!!!! camilo asks antonio to introduce them to any cat thats around. all the cat does when camilo approaches it is hiss at him, you & antonio just laugh at him 🙏🙏
that’s all !!! feel free to send in match-up requests in my inbox (encanto & maybe genshin IDK!)

Tbh i hate how a part of harry's own fandom ended up making a joke of his "brand" by painting him as this fierce activist who ended toxic masculinity and misogyny etc. when most of the things which they use to describe him as such are just his personal achievements. In these years, he has become so much more comfortable with who he is and isn't hesitant about exploring his identity, and that's all about it. Yes, he definitely has a huge influence even outside of the fanbase and I'm sure he has helped and inspired a lot of ppl unknowingly but he's definitely not singlehandedly "destroying gender roles". A lot of his fans putting his androgynous fashion interests onto some high pedestal and making the general public not take him seriously actually devalues his personal struggles and also undermines so many other marginalised ppl/celebrities who have done much more contribution to change.
Exactly like so much of the criticisms and mocking harry get subjected to whenever he does/says something which involves expressing his identity and beliefs stems from the fact that a huge chunk of his fans act like everything harry styles does is meant to be some political statement and hype up even the simplest things he does in order to "win" their stupid stan wars by trying to make their fave look some hyper woke activist king and then people who arent his fans call them out on praising him for doing the bare minimum when harry most likely wasnt doing/saying those things as a political statement at all.
Of course harry isnt completely ignorant and does care about many political and social issues but when his fans make stupid twitter threads like "Harry styles is a feminist icon" and "Thread of harry being supportive of women's rights" and then put bare minimum shit like harry wearing a shirt saying "women are smarter" or anecdotes about harry asking women for consent before touching their faces as "proofs" they are practically setting him up to be dragged. Same with all those threads and tweets calling him "king of saying fuck you to toxic masculinity" where all he is doing is wearing skirts or dresses or makeup. These people just end up either diluting the meaning of those words or make harry look like a joke.
I dont get why his fans cant just stick to praising him for coming to terms with his identity after years of struggling with it and overcoming his fear of being mocked/ridiculed by public for expressing himself by freely wearing and doing whatever he wants even on big platforms which is still a huge thing for him to achieve . Idk why all of his actions and decisions have to be scrutinized to make them look like some political statement when they could focus on things he actually did and said as political statements.
Like one of the main reasons im not as involved in the fandom as i was used to is bc its so exhausting to see half the fans acting like harry is a woke queer feminist activist for doing x or y thing while the other half rants about how harry doing those x or y things are actually problematic or not big enough for him to be praised about em when all harry wanted to do was express himself and not make a statement about it

So im pretty sure i know what you're talking about in your last textpost (about how woc are discussed in the 'gender debate') but do you have any specific examples of how exactly those arguments are used/ what they look like? I wanna make sure im not compleatly missing the point (mabey you explained it already and i missed it, in that case ignore this i havent slept in 48h and my brain is soup)
I hope you sleep. Not sleeping is my best skill in 2021 and I have to take afternoon naps to my brain doesn't melt
I've mentioned some stuff but basically when it comes to Black women, we're only ever mentioned when white people want to be sassy about who doesn't count as a woman. There's never any detail or gentle tone when talking about us. It's not about us really
How do you respect me as a woman and that's the only time you mention me ? They think that Black women look in the mirror and see a freak and not a person, not someone regular so why would we take issue with framing like that. It's obvious they can understand that even though society might see them as weird cause of gender stuff they're people and deserve to be spoken about like that but cant give the same respect for Black women. And let's be real, when they say trans women they mean white trans women cause Black trans women are only ever mentioned in the same dumb glib way before they start monologuing about themselves and their white experiences. Blackness is simply a set-up for the real show, themselves and the arguement they just engineered
The fact that people are really flippant when they do this and invoke slavery - we're talking about an atrocity? Why do I need to tell you using a bad article that refers to slavery as a gotcha is unbelievably disrespectful ???
They treat woc as if our history and stereotypes are interchangable cause they don't care about how our oppression works, they just want someone to call them smart they're repeating certain phrases. The fact that person stressed they posted that for "EVERYONE" they think it's a favour and that screenshot was more framing than fact
The discussion is never actually about us but mentioning us in a crass way to mock other white people and look smart to your feeble minded followers. It's a performance.
The way you'll see white people be very poetic about their gender + life and then be slap dash and giggly when they bring up Black women for comparison. We only exist to show how human they are, we don't get spoken about in the same poetic way. It reinforces the Black toughness Vs white fragility dynamic
The fact people think as long as they're arguing with rad fems, they're automatically correct and none of their arguements aren't cheap or stupid or racist. On a funny note, Audre Lorde is literally a rad fem, has taken photos with rad fems and it's why it's obvious no one reads what Black women say lol we're there for optics cause idk how people can do twice monthly warnings not to read radical feminist text then say read Audre Lorde. She didn't hide her politics people straight up do not care what she said beyond two quotes
The funniest one is when they mention woc but then go on to talk about Black women, they're trying to avoid being accused of being anti-Black by quickly mentioning another ethnic but it's obvious the way Black women are racialised we work better for these convos
I can't follow most white people that talk about gender cause it's simply not good for me to see twice weekly mention about what slave masters thought about my ancestors for a dumb internet slap fights. Why is referring to the propaganda of slavery so easy ?
It's the obvious disrespect and fact they dont want to learn anything that contradicts what will go viral cause the way people talk about Black women and gender is literally fan fiction at this point and ascribing ideas to historical Black women who we don't know what they'd think about certain modern ideas cause those ideas didn't exist back then. The thinking is basically, Black women are political and trail blazers so they agree with me because I'm a trailblazer, it's not about any actual named idea, analysis, book or theory from a Black woman but the general vibe we'd agree. We're mascots for virtue
This weird idea that Black women academics can be spoken about as if they all agree with each other/ there's a singular Black woman theory , we're being put on a pedestal as a trump card and not people with ideas. It's the resistance to learning about things from Black women the way these leftist pour over a single paragraph from a white academic ; mention books of white academics; debate a SINGLE line by a white person and can compare the different ideas of individual white people but Black women are a super entity with one idea and that idea is whatever a white person needs for them to be right. All Black women get put in this bin of biologically virtuous so you don't need to analyse our ideas. Some Black women have awful ideas but they're living their best life on twitter/ Tumblr / Tik Tok cause they know as long as they say something aggressive about white feminism etc people will stay firmly lodged up her ass for repeating the buzzwords they want to hear, as long as she doesn't start talking about her experiences in a complex way...a human way, she's useful

My apologies, another person in your replies said “Anon you realize that exact logic is and HAS been used to justify the deliberate misgendering of trans people, right” and I thought it was you. Anyhow, there is no reason to get so nasty, I’m just asking you to explain your thoughts on this since you frequently post in the tags with your opinions. Being a “boy” or a “girl” is a social role, not necessarily a gender. So, yeah, it’s possible to take on a different gender role than the one associated with your gender. Since roles are often conflated with gender, they tend to be used interchangeably. People who are PNC often use “wrong” pronouns to express their complicated relationship with gender identity. Aside from this, some people use certain pronouns for themselves because they simply enjoy them, which is their own prerogative. So, then, you’re against being PNC because 1) it’s too complicated for you personally to process and that is somehow deserving of your vitriol and 2) you feel that English grammar and syntax rules are more important than respecting people’s referential language? How is challenging language any different than challenging gender stereotypes, as one would do being GNC? Do you prioritize your comfort over the dignity of other transgender people, or do you seriously think that language is sacred? Words are created all the time and definitions change with their usage. It sounds that rather than even attempt to accommodate your brethren, you would prefer to latch on to the anti-PNC position so you have some excuse to not challenge your notions of “gendered” language. As a person with an auditory processing disorder myself that impacts my life greatly, that is not an excuse for you not to better yourself, even if it is difficult for you. Other people do not deserve your anger for simply existing with pronouns that challenging the status quo. If you *definitively and actively know* a person’s pronouns are contrary to their appearance or identity and you refuse to even try to refer to them properly, that is not an issue with processing, but with conflating pronouns with gender identity at the best and willfully choosing to disrespect them at the worst. That can’t be explained away by saying you have a processing disorder. Do not attempt to paint being PNC as ableist because you are unwilling to challenge your deep-seeded, actively obsolescent beliefs. Having a processing disorder makes people rely on context. If you are communicating with or about someone whose pronouns you know, PNC or otherwise, you have been provided the context. You are choosing to either ignore it for your own comfort and a lack of desire to improve yourself or because you think language is more important than people. If I’m wrong, prove it.
i didnt mean to get nasty i just dnt have a good concept of whats too mean n stuff.
i love that you consistently add more to what i am saying and look to deep into it to paint me as a bad person but i will get to that later. its hard to pay attention to one thing at a time but i will try 2 go in order.
being a boy or girl isnt a social role,, its just being a girl or boy?? like a kid female n kid male like. thats not a role thts a fucking.. way to describe someones gender when theyre a kid?? like i cannot even understand why i have to say that. wtf do u think being a girl/boy is?? its a way to describe someones gender, like pronouns. not a role or gender expression.
im not against it because its too complicated or that i want to disrespect ppls pronouns or something like that you want to put into my mouth. challenging a language is different than challenging gender rules because language was made with a purpose and one that still matters today. gender roles never served a solid purpose, them getting removed doesn't matter at all.
this is really pointless because youre going to keep refusing to recognize that language is important and that pronouns aren't something that you just use to make yourself happy, they are a tool in language that serve two singular purposes. to replace a name. and to describe the person in a gendered way. getting rid of gender should just mean getting rid of pronouns all together because they are pointless without any description of the person that they are being used for. because then you cant fucking tell who they're talking about at all. this is why robots struggle with pronouns :)
its funny to me that you add "appearance" to "identity" as if 1. they match. 2. that i at all ever said they have to watch appearance. if you didnt know im NOT PASSING. 3. as if appearance matters <3
this isnt about me wanting to be rude or not challenge gender roles or anything, im a very gnc man myself. this is about the fact that pronouns only real purpose is to tell you what gender someone is, not if they're masculine or feminine or just like the sound of them. this is why getting called "she/her" makes the majority trans men dysphoric, but why wearing dresses or having traditionally feminine roles won't make the majority of them dysphoric.
you clearly aren't listening to what im saying so i dont see why you insist on replying and putting things in my mouth from finding excuses like "someone else said it" to whatever youre going to make for trying to say i just dont like people who r pnc and am using processing an an excuse, instead of an example of why its important this time.
language isnt more important than people, but people can not exist as is without a way of communicating. trying to tear down communication because you dont like its rules just make what it is to be human harder to be. i cannot be myself to anyone else if there is no words to describe who i am in a strictly male or unrelated sense. there's a difference verison of you to every person you know, and you can't make it remotely accurate without the words to express it.

i'm on a complete neutral side when it comes to seamoon. i don't mind its popularity nor its fans, hell i respect the ship because you're right! there IS a lack of w|w rep out there! to me, any w|w rep means i auto support. but i still fear how some of its shippers might attack me if i say i ship sea fairy with a different female cookie (anxiety kicking in lol). and it's also bc seamoon isn't really my cup of tea for some reason?? but that doesn't mean it's lesbophobic lol bc i have like, a ton of other w|w ships from cr (and other franchises) i personally love. it's just that seamoon, like any other ship out there, ended up becoming one of those i don't really vibe with but still respect and acknowledge it exists. but honestly, of all the ships in cr, seamoon will most likely be a canon thing sooner or later. personally, respecting heavily implied w|w ships are enough for me, tho i kinda understand how some ppl would wish for more than just acknowledgement. hope this ask isn't too much of a bother for you, i just feel like putting my thoughts here! please have a nice day or night!
oo ok so ur completely valid! actually i dont personally have a problem with ppl who ship sea or moon with other female or nonbinary cookies as long as they dont shit on seamoon.
honestly? its super fucked up to attack others for that, if u dont personally like seamoon but dont ship them with men then im chill cause like not everyone has to like it even if its canon or has the best chance to be canon! the point of protecting seamoon is because as u said the lack of wlw and the fact that media keeps queerbaiting shit like seamoon were its so obvious that the characters are gay but they dont outright state it ir make them make out on screen so other ppl can pretend they arent, if u acknowledge their lesbians and ship them with othwr women then ur fine completely!! seamoon shippers who attack others based off that r being disrespectful and using seamoon to bring down others, their the reason nonshippers think we're crazy imo, now if someone has seamoon as a comfort ship and doesn't want them separated thats fine but as long as ppl respect the wlw woth ships they can do what they want, within reason of course.
the biggest issue for us is people genuinely see moon or sea as bi or straight and i dont think they understand that while YES just because they love a women canonly doesnt mean they can't be bi or pan the issue is ppl deny the queerness is even there or call it onesided, this is coming from a person who does loath how fandom forgets ppl can like all genders but we NEED to establish the wlw before the wlm in this case because there are plenty of wlm female characters in media but only a handful of canon wlw and the fact seamoon is so obvious yet ppl ignore it means we have to be pushy and put our foot down on shipping either, ESPECIALLY sea, with men.
also ur no bother at all! giving ur insight is fine i like talkign to ppl about why certain discourse sucks and seeing new opinions, at the end of the day my opinion is this.
lesbains are constantly erased or used as sex objects in media, the fact that this kids game has 2 of its most important characters as 2 women in love is important, acknowledging their love is important because its rlly quite blantent imo and NOT SEXUALIZED, shipping either with men perpetuates that clear lesbian coding doesnt matter because girls need a man ir women loving eachotheris somehow creepy, do not do this even with bi or pan hcs do not, there are OVER A HUNDRED cookies its not thathard to make characters like princess or croissant or blackberry mspec so why do u feel the need to take away the two wlw ppl who are the most close to canon?
ppl generally forget how much lesbian eraser there is out there and seeing how some of yall treat seas love for mooncalling it onesided or creepy just because ppl cant understand what pining is id say those ppl dont actually care about representation for wlw if they find ppl wanting the HEAVY coding to be respected too annoying.
now all this being said i again want to make it clear, i dont condone harrassment, and i definitely dont candone threats of any kind, seamoon fans CAN be toxic i know, but those ppl do not devaule the center point, if ur soured on the ship cause of that thats fine ship them with other nonbinary or lesbain cookies or not ship them at all ur in the clear to do that but do NOT take that as a queue to be like fuck the lesbains and ship them with men, i do not care how much fire wants moon in his pants hes bi shes not end of story.

JK Rowling, transphobia and a hopefully helpful post.
A few days ago I posted on my Facebook (yes I have one sue me) debunking some of the things Rowling has been saying on twitter. Since she made a statement I felt the need to make another one... but this time Im sharing it here. Please note this is long, it is fairly opinionated in places but her statements have felt so insidious I want to share something in depth. If you are cis I implore you to read, but I understand this is long and a lot of people wont want to. No judgement.
Jk Rowling’s latest statement is a mess of valid concerns and fear mongering. At this point there can be no claim she doesn’t know what shes talking about - she herself has said shes been researching this for years. She throws in token acknowledgements to “real” trans people while framing the rest of her statements as concern for confused teens. So first things first - and something that might not be popular with some of my trans friends. I agree that teenagers should not be able to medically transition. It is a choice that should be made when the brain is fully mature. Hormone blockers are something I trust - and that are reversible. I have seen enough detransitioned people hurting to feel like we do need to be careful - especially with children who are trying to find themselves. I dont know about other people but during my teens I was coming to the crushing realisation that I wasn’t special. I was learning that no matter how well I painted someone else did it better, no matter how badly I hurt someone had it worse - I was learning about the wonderful mediocrity of life, and having anything that made me stand out gave a brief reprieve from learning to be okay with all these things. For me to be fair it was dying my hair outrageous colours and dressing in black leather during 30 degree summer heat - but its still something we cant forget. I KNOW a lot of kids claiming to be trans are - and I dont want to keep that from them, however I dont want to cause harm to the kids that are wrong. Continuing on, I’d like to address her comments about TERFS. Terfs are Self Described Trans-exclusionary-radical-feminists and the term does get thrown around a little too liberally at times. Terf is not and never will be a slur. No more than “White” is. It is about a group of people who have taken it open themselves to segregate another group - and calling that what it is, is not a crime. The reason Terf and transphobe have become synonomic is because the ‘radical feminists’ that subscribe to this have lost focus on nearly all other issues of feminism and sit squarely on “dropping the T” from the lgbt community and “keeping men out of womens bathrooms.” Terfs are overwhelmingly women - this is sadly simply a fact. Terfs are reviled because of how much it feels like a betrayal to the community. A group that fights for rights - except ours. A group that wants equality - except for us. Its different to the conservatives who hate us all equally - with Terfs we are singled out. Terfs are not, as Rowling claims, inclusionary to Trans-men. I’ve been met with a combination of pity, loathing, mockery and revulsion by people within this group. I’ve been told that I shouldn’t let homophobia push me into transitioning - only for all correspondence to abruptly drop when I mention Im marrying another man. I’ve been told my old body was beautiful - only for stunned silence when I agree. I was beautiful - I was curvy, I was a dancer and had a body to match - but I wasn’t Me. When their usual arguments against me fail - I’m met with hate. Im called anti-woman, traitor, homophobic. I even have some such comments saved on my blog. I have yet to meet a Terf who was pro-trans-man. Rowling claims that had she had the ability, as a confused teen, she may have sought to transition. I hate to tell her but she did have the ability and trans people didn’t pop into existence in the twenty-first century. I’m actually looking to do my dissertation topic in my final year on lgbt presentation throughout history - and in my overeager way I’ve already started researching. James Barry has been becoming a common name for years - a transgender surgeon who died in 1865. If Barry was able to at least socially transition from 1790 to 1860, I am fairly sure Rowling could have in 1980 - over a century later. Rowling also claims that groups of friends in schools all suddenly identify as trans at the same time. Speaking from my school experience - the queer kids group together. We seek out others like us, and we take strength from each others bravery to come out - often around the same time. We almost get a rush of resolve when one of our group musters the courage and strength, and some of us use that rush to bite the bullet ourselves. Its one of the beautiful ways the lgbt community is here for one another - and the influx of people identifying as trans is partially a factor of more people knowing the name of their feelings. Survivor bias will ignore the trans people through history without the knowledge or means to transition - and will claim they were never trans at all. Her initial statements about charities worry me in particular. As I said last time - we know sex is real, we just dont really like to be defined by it. She is worried that we’re going to “rebrand medicine” and ignores that medications for years have had warnings in their leaflets about “If you are or become pregnant” regardless of if the person receiving it has a dick or a vagina. We dont advocate for ignoring the differences in how people respond to heart attacks - and I for one would like research to be done on how hormones effect that. I dont actually know if I would respond more like a cis gender woman or a cis gender man if I were to have a heart attack or a stroke. But where possible we do want to change the language around some of these things. I have had a double mastectomy, but some Cis-men have these as well. This is not a gendered term. Why should a period be called anything else? Why call it a “womens problem.” I and Im sure many other trans people, support the research into how different medical and mental issues affect different sexes. I just think that should be extended further - and we know it should, as some medical issues affect people of different ethnicities in different ways and we don’t know how. I am truly sorry that Rowling has experienced abuse and assault of any nature. I am truly sorry that she has felt unsafe. But her feelings do not invalidate others experiences. Of the trans people I know, a saddening number have been assaulted, have been abused and in particular have experienced these things domestically. There is much work to be done on this in the UK. There are nearly no mens shelters for sufferers of violence to my knowledge. I, a trans man who have experienced some of these things in my teen years, would Not want to be around cisgender women even if I could be. A cis woman was responsible for much of the pain I personally suffered - and in fact one of the acts of violence she carried out against me was directly after I came out as trans to her. Trans women, even if they could go to male shelters, should not have to be surrounded by a group that put them in danger - in a place that is detrimental to them physically and mentally and is frankly degrading. The belief that allowing trans women into shelters for those escaping abuse is dangerous is sad. To be so afraid is deserving of pity. To let fear blind you to the suffering of others - to think its better that a trans woman face homelessness or a return to an abusive household because you personally would sleep better at night is the kind of passive evil we should be aware of in this day and age. It comes from choosing to see the word “trans” before “person.” Its from choosing to see a persons genitals before their humanity. Trans people are not dangerous - and cause no greater risk than any other demographic. Her claims that she can empathise with this fear are empty. A gender recognition certificate is not a ticket into womens bathrooms. Funnily enough you dont actually require a piece of paper to go almost anywhere. I do not have a gender recognition certificate and use male bathrooms, can enter male spaces as I please. All a gender recognition certificate does is change the letter on your birth certificate. It doesn’t even affect other forms of identification - my passport, my student id, my drivers license all already say male. I am not sure why so many people have chosen this as their hill to die on because its the least relevant thing to them on the planet. How often have any of you seen another persons birth certificate? Rowling says she and other ‘gender critical’ (a terf dogwhistle) people are concerned for trans youth. Well… she can take her condescending concern and direct it to matters that are relevant to her. Trans people want to be left alone. Its a simple request, and yet people endlessly seem to trip over the dirt level bar.

this was written several weeks ago in response to asks i was receiving i am posting it now it is very long the longest i have ever made and it is not very well edited but here it is in this final essay i talk about how shitty rae is about black people in her writing as well as just me talking about how her writing sucks in general lets begin
hello everyone
as you may know i have received a lot of anons in the last week or so about issues of racism in the beetlejuice community both just generally speaking and also within specific spaces
i was very frustrated to not be getting the answers i wanted because i typically do not talk about what i do not see but in an effort to be better about discourse i went looking through discourse from before my time in the fandom and i also received some receipts and information from my followers and from some friends
keep in mind that the voices and thoughts of bipoc are not only incredibly important at all times but in this circumstance it is important that if a bipoc has something to add you listen and learn and be better
i admit that when this happened i wasnt aware of the extent of what occurred and im angry at myself for not doing more at that time and i want to work harder to make sure something like this doesnt go unnoticed again
im a hesitant to talk about months old discourse because i have been criticized for bringing up quote old new unquote but this is very important and i am willing to face whatever comes from to me
lets talk about this
content from our local racist idiot that may be months old but its important
putting my thoughts under a cut to spare the dash but before i begin obviously this is awful
lets fucking unpack this folks
right out the gate op states that she supports artistic freedom but then within a couple words she goes against that statement
being entirely canon compliant isnt artistic freedom and even so if this person has so much respect for canon they wouldnt be out here erasing lydias obvious disgust for beetlejuice in the movie or ignoring lydias age for the sake of shipping that shit isnt canon either
also we love the quick jab at the musical there hilarious we love it dont we because god forbid a licensed and successful branch on a media have any standing in this conversation but whatever
now lets scroll down and talk about the term racebending
the term racebending was coined around 2009 in response to the avatar the last airbender movie a film in which the east asian races of the characters were erased by casting white actors in the three leading roles of aang sokka and katara
whenever the term racebending is used in a negative light it is almost always a case of whitewashing like casting scarlett johansen in ghost in the shell or the casting of white actors of the prince of persia sands of time instead of iranian ones
this kind of racebending erases minorities from beeing seen in media and is wrong
all that being said however racebending has also been noted to have very positive after effects like the 1997 adaptation of cinderella or casting samuel jackson as nick fury in the marvel movies nick fury was originally a white guy can you even imagine
i read this piece from an academic that said quote writers can change the race and cultural specificity of central characters or pull a secondary character of color from the margins transforming them into the central protagonist unquote
racebending like the kind that rae is so heated about is the kind of creative freedom that leads to more representation of bipoc in media which will never be a bad thing ever no matter how pissy you get about it
designing a version of a character as a poc isnt serving to make them necessarily better it serves to give new perspective and perhaps the opportunity to connect even more deeply with a character it doesnt marginalize or erase white people it can uplift poc and if you think uplifting poc is wrong because it tears down white people or whatever youre a fucking moron and you need to get out of your podunk white folk town and see the real world
the numbers of times a bipoc particularly a bipoc that is also lgbt+ has been represented in media are dwarfed by what i as a white dude have seen myself represented in media is and that isnt okay that isnt equality and its something that should change not only in mainstream media but in fandom spaces as well
lets move down a bit further to the part about bullying straight people which is hilarious and lets also talk about the term fetishistic as well lets start with that
this person literally writes explicit pornography of a minor and an adult are we really going to let someone like that dictate what is and what isnt fetishistic
similarly to doing a positive racebend situation people may project lgbt+ headcanons on a character because its part of who they are and it helps them feel closer to the character and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that
depicting lgbt+ subject matter on existing characters isnt an inherently fetishistic action generally things only really become fetishistic when the media is being crafted and hyped by people who are outside of lgbt+ community for example how young teens used to flip a tit about yaoi or how chasers fetishize trans people
but drawing a character with top surgery scars or headcanoning them as trans is harmless and its just another way to interpret a character literally anone could be trans unless if their character bio says theyre cis and most of them dont go that deep so it really is open to interpretation and on the whole most creators encourage this sort of exploration because it is a good thing to get healthy representation out in the world
as for it being used to bully straights thats just funny i dont have anything else on that like if youre straight and you feel threatened and bullied because of someone headcanoning someone as anything that isnt cishet youre a fucking idiot and a weak baby idiot at that like the real world must fucking suck for you because lgbt+ people are everywhere and statistically a big chunk of your favorite characters arent cishet sorry be mad about it
lets roll down a bit further about the big meat of the issue which was when several artists were drawing interpretations of lydia as a black girl which i loved but clearly this person didnt love it because they have a very narrow and very racist and problematic view of what it means to be a black person
and before i move forward i must reiderate that i am a white person and you should listen to the thoughts of poc people like @fright-of-their-lives or @gender-chaotic it is not my place to explain what the black experience is like and it certainly isnt this persons either
implying that the story of a black person isnt worth telling unless if the character faces struggles like racism and prejudice is downright moronic
why use the word kissable to describe a black persons lips now thats what i call fetishistic and its to another extreme if youre talking about a black version of lydia on top of that
the author of this post says herself that shes white so clearly shes the person whos an authority on the black experience and what it means to be a black person right am i reading that right or am i having a fucking conniption
how about allowing black characters to exist without having to struggle why cant a black version of lydia just be a goth teenager with a ghost problem who likes photography and is also black like she doesnt have to move to a hick town and get abused by racist folks she doesnt have to go through any more shit than she already goes through and if you honestly think thats the only way to tell a black persons story you need to get your brain cleaned
you know nothing about the complexities about being a black person and i dont either but you know wh odo black people who are doing black versions of canon characters they fucking know
lets squiggle down just a bit further
so the writer has issues with giving characters traits like a broad nose or larger lips if theyre a woman but if theyre a man suddenly its totally okay to go all ryan murphy ahs coven papa legba appropriation when approaching character design like are you fucking stupid do you hear yourself is that really how you see black men like what the fuck is wrong with you
none of the shit youre spewing takes bravery it takes ignorance and supreme levels of stupidity
do you really think you with your fic where a black lgbt+ woman is tortured and abused where you use the n word with a hard r to refer to her like that shits not okay its fucking depraved and yeah we know you love being shitty but like christ on a bike thats so much
can we also talk about this
what the fuck is this fetishistic bull roar garbage calling this black character beyonce dressing her up in quote fuck me heels unquote are you are you seriously gonna write this and say its a shining example of how to write a black character youre basically saying ope here she is shes a sex icon haha im so progressive and i clealry understand the black experience hahahaha fuck you oh my god
on top of that theres a point where this character is only referred to as curly hair or the fact that the n word is used in the fic with the hard r like thats hands down not okay for you to use especially not in a manner like this jesus christ
oop heres a little more a sampling for you of the hell i am enduring in reading this drivel
oh boy lets put a leash on the angry black woman character lets put her in a leash and have the man imply hes a master like are you kidding me are you for real and what the fuck is with calling her shit like j lo and beyonce do you actually think thats clever at all are you just thinking of any poc that comes into your head for this
also lydia fucking tells this girl that she shouldnt have lost her temper like she got fucking leashed im so tired why is this writing so problematic and also so bad
hold up before i lose my head lets look at some of her own comments on the matter of this character and what happens to her
hi hello youre just casually tossing the word lynch out there in the wide open world as if thats not a problem that is still real like are you fucking unhinged there have been multiple cases of this exact thing happening in our firepit of a country in the last five months alone like how can you still have shit like this up for people to read how can you be proud of work like this in this climate
and also what the fuck is that last bit
what the actual fuck
i dont speak for black people as a white person but you do!? im sorry i had to get my punctuation out for that because wow thats fucking asinine just because one black person read your fic and didnt find the torture and abuse of your one black character abhorrant doesnt mean that the vast majority of people not only in the fandom but in the human population with decency are going to think its okay because its not
i started this post hoping to be level headed and professional but jesus fucking christ this woman is something else white nationalism is alive and well folks and its name is rae
if you defend this woman you defend some truly abhorrant raecism
editors notes
in order to get some perspective on these issues more fully some of the writing by the author was examined and on the whole it was pretty unreadable but i want to just call back to the very beginning of this essay where the person in question talked about holding canon in high regard but then in their writing they just go around giving people magic and shit and ignoring the end of the movie entirely like are you canon compliant or nah
the writing doesnt even read like beetlejuice fanfic it reads as self indulgent fiction you could easily change the names and its just a bad fanfic from 2007
also can we talk about writing the lesbian character as an angry man hater like its 2020 dude and als olets touch on that girl on girl pandering while beetlejuice is just there like here we go fetishizing again wee
i cant find a way to work this into this already massive post but
im going to throw up
okay so thats a lot we have covered a lot today and im sure my ask box will regret it but this definitely should have been more picked apart when it happened
please feel free to add more to this i would love more perspectives than just my own.
