Standing outside the entrance to the Avenger’s compound, travel bags in hand, you slap Marc’s arm.

“Oh, shut up! They won’t kill you, I promise.”

“That’s a hefty promise when there are several assassins on the other side of those doors.”

You that it’s not that Marc doesn’t want to meet the people you call family, it’s that he’s rather concerned they’re going to throttle him for getting you hurt.

After a few minutes of preparation, you finally coax him through the lobby and into an elevator, heading up to the main floor where the team is waiting.

The ride goes by much too quickly, and the door dings open sooner than Marc would like.

You slip through before the doors even open all the way, squealing as you run into the waiting arms of Natasha and Yelena, who happily lift you up as they coo praises in your native tongue.

The rest of the team is equally excited, welcoming you back. They congratulate you on a successful mission and on controlling the situation even as it escalated.

It’s a bit before you remember Marc standing in the doorway, and you gesture to him.

“Everyone, this is Marc,” you begin. “Be nice.”

Everyone greets him, except for one.

Natasha is far more intimidating than any man in the room as she stalks closer to him. She circles like a hawk, and your poor boyfriend has no choice but to stay still and hope she doesn’t filet him right there.

She circles back in front of him. Despite the difference in height, she may as well be as tall as Stark Tower with the way she’s glowering at the man.

Finally, a smirk spreads across Nat’s face.

“Nice to meet you, Spector.”

She takes his hand in a firm grip, analyzing his every move.

“Good job getting my sister killed.”

“Nat!” you gasp, the both of you chuckling.

She turns back to him, shaking her head. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Kind of. You got her home safe, so thank you.” Her tone is genuine, even if she does intend to beat him into the training ring later. For good measure.

As you prance around the room greeting everyone, Marc tries his best to not be intimidated.

Your other sister, Yelena, appears next to him silently. He flinches and she rolls her eyes with a smile.

“No one’s gonna hurt you. Unless you hurt her, that is.” She nods to you. “Lighten up, relax, have fun.” Playfully shoving him, she bounds back to her seat, a bowl of macaroni in her hands.

Her words bounce around his head.

‘Relax.’

Easier said than done.

The room is full of living legends. All of which could kill him in various nasty ways where he would never be found.

And they’re treating you like their baby sister.

Hell, the Scarlet Witch is wrapping her blanket around you like she’s swaddling a baby and the ex-Winter Soldier is passing you a cup of tea.

“Steven,” Marc hisses under his breath. “A little help, buddy?”

Bundled in the fluffy cloth, you turn back to Marc, smile beaming. In an instant, you spot the change.

What was his job? He worked in a museum, and was definitely not a gift-shoppist.

You spend a solid twenty minutes raving about the training room, and another fifteen getting distracted and helping some newly recruited agents with target practice.

Your energy is infectious, and by the time you turn in for the night after pizza and planning a party for your return, you’re both worn out.

“Was today too much?” you ask, watching Marc emerge from your bathroom, brushing his teeth.

He shakes his head. “No, of course not,” he manages around the brush. “It’s nice seeing you so excited about being home.”

“But what about your home? What about London?” You wouldn’t say it, but you were beyond worried about how this would work. The compound was your first home. But you didn’t want to take Steven and Marc away from their home.

Clearly, neither of them shared your concerns. Marc shrugs nonchalantly, briefly retreating into the bathroom to spit out the toothpaste and rinse.

“We’ll take it a day at a time, okay?” he whispers as you turn off the lamp and crawl under your blankets. He joins you, laying on his back so you can use him as a pillow. You claim it’s comfy.

You nod as you rest your head on his chest, relaxing as you breathe in time with him.

“Like a big adventure,” Steven cuts in, gently rubbing your shoulder.

“I don’t know if we can get a bigger adventure than dying and coming back,” you laugh.

“Well, you never know,” he says, glancing down at you. He loves you so much. They both do. In all honesty, they don’t care where you want to go. They’d live in Antarctica if you so much as asked, as long as you were there with them.

“Can we save the adventure for tomorrow?”

Everything is an adventure with you, they think. But Steven nods anyway.

“Yeah, of course, love.”

They’d wait for you forever.

“Ok. Goodnight, Steven, Goodnight, Marc.”

tw gore/cannibalism, i guess???? talking abt the last dream i had

i wld say my most common anxiety dream (if not just my most common dream in general) is that im being chased by someone who wants to kill me. its not always the same person (if i ever even see them at all—sometimes i dont, i just know theyre there), its not always the same place, but the goal is always the same: dont get caught.

so last night i had one of those dreams (i ran out of one of my meds and havent gone to get it refilled, which i think is why ive started having bad dreams again) where i was being chased by some Faceless Murderer. and i was doing a pretty good job of evading them, tho ofc the fear/anxiety was still there since, yknow, anxiety dream.

but then, they do catch up to me, which is usually when i force myself to wake up (since i dont actually want to be murdered in my dreams). except!! i dont wake up!! yknow what i do instead?

i think my brain skipped over most of the flaying bc tbh i dont think it even knows how to do that sort of thing, cause the next thing i know im just looking at this dudes disembodied, completely degloved hand (if you dont know what degloving is, DONT look it up w safe search off).

and ofc bc im a nerd my very first thought upon seeing it was "wow, what a clean job, you can still see all his veins and arteries". i was even pointing them out to whoever was with me, like i was giving an anatomy presentation SLFHSJF. i came across his ribcage too, and literally opened it up so i cld see his heart and lungs and stuff 😭 what the fuck yall

anyway, more dreamplot stuff happened and then the "final scene" was me in some kind of diner with nameless companion, like, celebrating the fact that we killed this guy? which was kinda weird but honestly fine, its not like this was a real guy and he very much WAS going to kill me if he caught me, so.

and then we get served our meal and i cant remember who tells me or how i find out but basically the soup i got was made out of the dude 😭 and in the moment i wasnt, yknow, absolutely horrified, i was just like "ah yes, poetic justice" like what???? was the dude gonna eat me if he caught me??? (honestly not implausible, a lot of my animal-based nightmares end in getting eaten alive)

anyway the soup just tasted like a hearty tomato soup (NO PUN INTENDED I FUCKING HOPE)

but anyway, believe it or not the weirdest part of the dream (to me anyway) was the very last "scene", where we're sitting there eating this Man Soup and celebrating killing a dude, and then the door to the diner opens and in walks the dude we killed. and in the dream im not confused or horrified or anything, im just like "ah yes, he must have regenerated himself", which????? sure, okay, the dude regenerated himself somehow. but he spots me and as we look at each other i dont feel any fear, im like? at peace? like i feel forgiveness somehow. and meanwhile he has an expression of, i stg, gratitude. and the very last thing i do is stand up and open up my arms in a "cmere, lets hug it out" gesture. and then i wake up.

so like. kinda fucked up right?

i’m trying really hard to show that xaden is putting in the WORK when it comes to getting violet back even if he doesn’t have a clue on what he’s doing.

OK im kinda done writing abt my personal understanding of this one specific aspect of dungeon meshis ending.. except not really and ended up turning it into bullet points and sticking the necessary panels under them so its not super thorough or concise or how i initially wanted this post to be BUT WELL i dont really want to spend anymore time on this 😭 so yayyyy 😇✌️

the specific aspect is about falin's resurrection and how she was able to come back to life in the ending when that shouldnt be possible.. basically my personal theory/understanding/reading of this is that the falin we see in the ending is a copy, and the real falin is dead 👍 the reason i think this is bc:

> the dead can be brought back to life in dunmesh's universe, but only under specific conditions;

> so what does it mean to truly be dead then? the answer: being dead (impossible to resurrect) in dunmesh's universe means being eaten and becoming nourishment for other creatures. this is why falin's body was eaten in the ending; to permanently get rid of the dragon part of her

> "to live is to eat and to be dead is to be eaten, and that which is eaten/taken/stolen cannot be returned" is a recurring theme in dungeon meshi

> and yet falin, who was eaten, was revived. this shouldnt be possible

> marcille resurrected falin using dungeon magic, later revealed to be the winged lion's magic; which means the ritual marcille conducted would have the same limitations as the winged lion's powers

> and a limitation of the winged lion is that it cannot return that which has been eaten, which explains why it couldnt have just continuously conjure up desires for it to eat

1. I've seen good arguments for both sides, so it's hard to pick. I kind of want there to be a supernatural element. However, I also see it being metal poisoning from the water and group hysteria and them accidentally feeding into Lotties' mental illness.

2. My favorite teen timeline character is either Laura Lee or Jackie. I know, devastating favorites to have, but both had such complex characters and such BIG impacts on the plot. They hurt me. My favorite adult time line character's are either Lottie or Callie. Callie, I feel so bad for it. She's such a complex character, and it's impossible for me not to sympathize with her. Lottie will always fascinate me.

3. Definitely when Dreams by the Cranberries plays as the girls find the lake. It's just one of those scenes that remind you they're just teen girls, and it's honestly such an impactful scene for me.

4. Lottielee is my favorite ship, their bond just interested me and the way Laura Lee still haunts Lottie is just tragic.

5. Flight of the bumblebee.... as a Laura Lee lover ik it's an odd favorite but I just remember watching it for the first time and feeling like I was punched in the gut.

6. Lottie makes the most sense to me.

7. The girls all dancing together in the cabin or when Nat is on the plane in season two and sees her younger self sitting next to her.

8. I'm team Ben's going to get eaten alive and Van's cancer is going to be cured. Season three is going to be brutal.

9. Callie. My relationship with my mom was rocky until we eventually got closer when I was an older teen. I sympathize with her because I understand her.

1. I am mostly Team Rational because I love the way this show depicts trauma but I also love seeing the supernatural side of things through the survivors’ eyes if that makes sense.

2. Natalie in the teen timeline because I love her compassion and softness underneath the front she puts on. Lottie in the adult timeline because I love her internal battle with herself and how afraid she is of her own mind. Misty is a close second in the adult timeline!

3. “Cornflake Girl” playing while Nat sees the mossy tree for the first time, Callie seeing the Adam Martin driver’s license in the barbecue, and Shauna eating Jackie’s ear. It just goes so perfectly with everything that’s going on (especially the elevated piano while Nat and Travis are scaling the mountain and the lyrics while Shauna takes the bite!)

4. LottieNat is my favorite ship I can’t help it Nat and Lottie are my favorite characters so having them together is a dream (TaiVan, JackieShauna, and TravNat are up there, too).

5. 1x09 “Doomcoming” is just amazing and captures everything I love about Yellowjackets. I love when they let the girls go batshit crazy, hoping we get more Doomcoming vibes in S3.

6. I want the Antler Queen to be Natalie because that would show a true descent for her in the Wilderness from being the most morally grounded one to the leader of the group at their most unhinged and primal. But honestly I think that Shauna might be the AQ after all…

7. I think the Jackie-eating scene is the best in the entire show. The “Climbing Up the Walls” song choice, the bacchanal feast flashes as a way of coping with the horror of what they’re doing, seeing them go fully feral for the first time, it’s such a well crafted scene.

8. I know this probably won’t happen but I’m just going to throw it out there that Cabin Daughter is alive and she will be revealed to have been Javi’s “friend���!

9. I relate to Shauna the most because I also admittedly have a bit of an obsessive/intense personality and I, too, internalize my emotions to a very unhealthy degree sometimes. I also grew up being in love with my childhood best friend who is very, very much like Jackie (and now we have been dating for 7 years!)

10. Mine is a mix of going to a Yellowjackets panel and sitting like 5 feet from the showrunners, doing everything in my power to score early screening tickets to Heretic and Companion, and pretending I was sick so I could go home early from work the day that the S3 trailer came out.
