I love the Addams Family, so I tried watching Wednesday back when it was a big thing. I watched one episode, hated it, had a little internal cry about how far they’d deviated from the source material and character integrity, then tried to forget it had ever existed. Imagine how I felt when it kept getting more popular and a second season was green lit whilst amazing shows like Kaos were cancelled for no reason 😂.

I wish drama didn't exist.
I wish we could all be happy and not be assholes to each other.
But alas, such is the internet. It sucks, but we have to deal with it *sighs*
#spooks’ mini rambles#not tagging the fandom#<- I don't want to start an argument or some shit#I'm not even part of the drama but it's emotionally draining seeing it almost 24/7#just gonna block the tag that has the drama#cause I really don't wanna see it#I'll probably unblock the tag once the drama's over

I'm in the same boat at not shipping Isafrin. It's compelling in the game, as an extra layer of hell in the timeloop, and they have great friend chemistry but romantic? Eh, not really. I'm not explicitly opposed, it's just so rare someone does anything really compelling y'know?
Most people who in the fandom will ship it because it's very set up in cannon, think they're cute together, and not think too hard on dynamics or what these characters might be getting out of the relationship. And that's fine! They don't have the same brainworms about it. And I'm glad anyone is writing fics and drawing art in the first place. But it's so very frustrating, especially when Loop is involved because I don't think for one second that Loop would abide being the second Siffrin in the "woah, two Siffrins!" scenario. Had to drop several long fics because the "they would not fucking say that" hit me too strongly
I very much agree with you. Glad that people actually agree with me? There's not much that compels me with Isabeau and Siffrin in a romantic relationship. Like... it's cute? Ig? And there's more complex stuff you can do with it but most people... don't.
Honestly I probably wouldn't have any opinions on it if it didn't feel like Isabeau was butting into Sifloop in a bunch of fics. Also if blocking the tag, which I did months ago, made it so I didn't see that ship I wouldn't have even mentioned it on this blog.
(I will apologize for putting fandom salt onto this blog,,, I might draw some sifloop later as an apology. I know salt isn't what people came to this blog for...)
#not tagging the fandom#mostly because I feel like I need to be somewhat polite#I am happy that it seems like at least a few people were inspired to make fic by these kind of posts#the creation of more art is a net good in my mind#thank you for the ask!

You know, I haven't updated my bg3 fic for three weeks because depression has been wreaking havoc on my ability to write (I also haven't played the game in that time because, again, depression sucks) but it's making me salty about posting in a big fandom all over again because it feels like, who cares, nobody's reading it anyway. I have posted 9 chapters so far and not a single comment. Out of all my (70) works on ao3, only five have zero comments: two are fanart, one is a poem, and one is an under 1k oneshot for a tiny fandom. Ravi's Journal is the only multichapter fic I've written that doesn't have any comments. And for a fandom where the top fic has 300+k hits, 200 hits seems pretty paltry, especially for a multichap. As always, I'm writing for myself, but to post in such a huge, active fandom and get this lack of engagement in response is disheartening. I love this game, but contributing to the fandom feels thankless. I"m tempted to not update out of spite, even if I end up writing more, just to see if anyone would ever take the time to say that they enjoy it and would like to read more.

Okay, so, I decided to watch Miss Scarlet and the Duke, and god, I want so badly to like it more than I do.
Or at least, I wanted that at first.
Look, I love pretty people who bicker over a simmering cauldron of sexual and romantic tension. I also love a good story where the couple has to work and grow as people.
Miss Scarlet is sorely lacking the latter element, reaching a boiling point in episode 4 of season 4.
What follows is a slew of messages to @practicallyasleep as I lost my ever-loving mind.
No, genuinely. I would have.
(Okay, not 100% of them, certainly, but most women did need to work in some way.)
(Also female private detectives and indeed female police staff—not constables, but not desk workers either—were a thing at the time.)
And then I realized how far back this went.
Look, Duke didn't have to do or say what he did. But Arabella passed a judgment on Eliza that was unfair. BUT THEN DUKE BELIEVED IT AND NEVER TRIED TO NEGOTIATE IT.
I stand by my assertion that Duke's desire to have a "traditional" wife matters more to him than finding a way to work with Eliza. So uh, pot, meet kettle.
Yeah, no, again, I stand by this. Had she addressed it with Duke, it would have come across as old jealousy. She backed off as politely as she could. Which is not to say she's perfect—quite frankly she should talk about her feelings more often, but it's actually kind of telling that she doesn't even really seem to feel safe doing that with Duke all the time.
So mad I can't even type right, lol.
(That "Again!" is meant as me, the writer addressing this again. Not that Eliza was going through governess school a second time.)
He doesn't even acknowledge it when Eliza brings it up more or less directly!
And last but not least, a little bit more this morning:
I actually really loved the Origins episode. The Eliza/Duke dynamic there was delightful. But even then... 😓
Anyway, I've got that off my chest. And it's not that there aren't good moments or good episodes! And it's certainly not as though Eliza doesn't have her own growing to do! But man, I wanted so badly to root for them, and I just cannot.

I was just thinking up a story for my oc and Auron in the EoE world. I like the idea that Odessa has been tracking him using his own techniques. Ones he taught them when they were traveling together. He has been actively trying to avoid them due to his past not wanting to get them hurt. It’s futile as Odessa is quite headstrong and mouthy. And may or may not have the power of a sage on their side.

this might be inarticulate bc im sick but genuinely it's odd how the discussion of age of consent is in the outsiders fandom and other fandoms has turned into something where it seems that there's an ahistorical viewpoint of teenage sex and sexuality in the sixties where everyone seems to be pressing current viewpoints into fic and discussions to the point where it feels people are not only treating these characters as real, living breathing people who conform to laws and where people are flinging huge disclaimers on fics involving sex ostensibly where it doesn't belong.
if i am opening a teratophilia eggpreg fic involving darry and dallas, wherein dallas isn't even human, there's no reason to add several disclaimers about how and why you ship them and omg it's okay they're adults here1!1!1 it's not illegal!! like. be self aware about your fucking kinky eggpreg fic. the people who are going to get mad about that already either aren't reading this fic or they're probably going to care about that bc they're braindead already.
on the less extreme end of the spectrum i do think it's funny some people are going "uhm pony won't have sex until he's sixteen otherwise it's illegal!" as if being queer in general wasn't illegal at the time and remained illegal in Oklahoma until the 00s. pony explicitly is thought to be a late bloomer in canon. if you personally don't want to write him having sex, just don't write it or do fade to black. it feeds into the same mentality, imo, as that infamously bad virgin sodapop post where people are having a very hard time remembering these are fictional characters who aren't real, that our ideas of sexuality weren't around in the sixties and your discomfort around certain subjects isn't universal and is often not aligning with history.
#virgin sodapop discourse#not tagging the fandom#(as if the people who need to see this post would lmfao!)

I did not want to be weird in the tags of that post but
I definitely think it'd be really easy for Izutsumi to just be. Really fucking horny about Laios tbh. For him to pet her in some way that turns her on or for her to just generally register him as "potential mate" in ways the others don't. Maybe the touching sends her into heat on accident. . . . .

Villain!EMic thoughts (to be added to when cross posting from Twitter)
I've been having villain!EMic thoughts lately (if you follow me on Twitter I posted a stupid thing today about it after that piece I did) and y'know I really think this might be the only universe other than the one in which Oboro doesn't die that Aizawa and Mic can actually drift apart without being on bad terms.
These two, in the main canon I use for most of my artwork, are absolutely NOT on good terms in their early 20s. They aren't even together in their early 20s, they are broken tf up because long distance didn't work for them at all.
The villain one involves them (so far I might change this) drifting apart because they lost contact. Mic changed his phone number after Oboro died (years later btw they texted but stopped once Aizawa kinda didn't want to think about their friend anymore) and Aizawa fucked off to god knows where.
They both became villains because they had to witness their friend pass away and both could not cope with it for shit. Neither of them decided to get together (unlike my main canon. They're friends to lovers to exes to friends to lovers there) and they meet again at a goddamn bus stop. There's more to this that I have to cross post over here but it's the most awkward thing ever because Mic didn't realize he was talking to Aizawa (disheveled villain!Aizawa my beloved) and accidentally confessed his feelings.
So he's pouring out his heart and soul to a guy he thinks is a stranger until Aizawa moves his hair a bit and he realizes "oh. SHIT." So one hour long (Mic's was a whole hour, Aizawa got off 30 minutes into the bus ride) awkward bus ride and a sneaky slip of his number into Aizawa's pocket later and they are talking again.
I really want to expand on this more btw because they do get together and have a kind of strange dynamic (still in love with each other and it's still a bit complicated but it's not entirely emotional constipation all over the place. That's still a thing but there's a lot of "taking out hard feelings" on people who make them angry) and I also want to explore the shit outta villain!Mic and villain!Aizawa. They are dear to me.
#amchanrambles#amchanfandomrambles#not tagging the fandom#or the characters#i have a whole monologue Aizawa could hypothetically have about the creation of child soldiers#yes indeed he does hate the system with a burning passion#so does Mic#probably gonna have him lean more punk...#yeaahh sounds good#im rambling in my tags again

how does someone not like teddy??? he's like the sweetest 😭
To be as fair as possible, the reasoning was that he's clingy and can be hostile which again--entirely fair. Depending on the episode and/or writer, even I question why the Belchers don't cut Teddy out entirely. My main beef with the other user, however, is that they like Jimmy Pesto and actually ship him with Bob. Jimmy has, with very few exceptions until recent seasons, been consistently an arrogant, selfish shithead who treats everyone in his life like trash. He's a shit father and friend. Jimmy is Bob's biggest enemy other than Hugo and, other than the yacht club episode, actively tries to ruin Bob's life at every turn. The man revels in being an asshole.
Which--entirely fair to like who you like. I just find the contrast hypocritical, especially as the other user brings up Teddy's lack of boundaries as a red flag. Jimmy Pesto makes a game out of crossing Bob's boundaries. They don't ship Jimmy after a change of heart or similar, like I do with Logan, either. I don't have the energy or time to follow or otherwise engage with users who dislike my favorite characters or who ship things that I personally find repugnant, no matter how good I may find their content otherwise.
