hi i want to actually add my own personal tidbit now so people stop thinking im some asshole. hi im tuna im a lesbian im 17 i am disabled and my favorite color is olive green. i really like to draw. my legs dont work right, and it can cause me serious back pain. i also have serious fatigue problems, wether from depression or something physical we aren't sure yet. Also i have hypophantasia which makes it difficult to draw from memory but idk. reference image.

i have a brother who has hands that don't work very well for a multitude of reasons, and he has more passion and drive for art than like anyone ever. every day they simply live and draw and it is amazing and i love them.

i don't like being told i don't know anything about disability or im ableist or i am a fake activist. i got told to go to a protest one time on this post, which was kind of funny because i recently couldnt go on a march because i couldn't walk far enough without my legs giving out. also im not an activist. i am an artist who is disabled and exists. i dont think i *need* to engage seriously with bad faith jerks.

nobody can draw exactly how they want to. that's the whole thing. but we try anyway. and i think it's awesome. i don't think art has a strict definition, because frankly, i don't care. i like art history a lot also, and i enjoy a lot of contemporary art (commonly referred to as "modern" art even though that's not what it's actually called), so im used to a lot of "well that's not art." and i think it's stupid every time. no exceptions. anyway. i don't know go create something no matter how small. or don't that's up to you.

You’re oblivious.

The book is falling, just centimeters from your head, and yet, you’re oblivious. Whatever you’re standing and reading about (as you hog space in front of the bookshelf, too) must be quite interesting if it spaces you out as badly as it does. But you’re oblivious, and Veritas, as much as it’s not his problem, can’t help but react as the spine of a rather heavy looking book approaches the top of your head with devastating speed.

“Oh,” you glance up when you finally sense the presence of his hand, looking at the book in his hand with wide eyes. “Um…can I help you?”

“Yes,” he quirks an unimpressed brow. “You can start by perhaps reading elsewhere.”

You blink, gaping at him for a second before your lips curl into a small, stubborn frown as you retort, “well, politely asking someone to move is certainly not a costly thing to do, don’t you think?”

He scoffs. Oblivious. He just saved your life—because cranial injuries can pose dangerous risks to the quality of your health, of course—and you’re oblivious. Just as oblivious as you were to blocking the section he needs by standing around and reading the book in your hands instead of sitting at a table, and just as oblivious as you were when the book started falling in the first place.

“It’s not as though your reflexes are particularly sharp,” he says causally, “I doubt you’d have moved in time to avoid a falling book had I told you—especially when you can’t even sense a book falling towards you in the first place.”

You stare at him for a moment, scrutinizing him under your gaze. (And, for a moment, as you turn towards him better and your eyes catch the light, he wonders if you’re oblivious to how pretty they are—how easy it would be to get just about anything you’d want from that soft, faint sparkle as they blink.)

“Well,” you say after a moment, and the slight tone of defeat in your voice should make him feel smug, but Veritas is endeared, instead. (And doomed, he realizes faintly. He’s so, deeply, horribly doomed.) “I suppose a thank you is in order, then. So…thank you.”

“You’re most welcome,” he mumbles, avoiding your gaze as he desperately fights back the flush on his cheeks, “do try not to find yourself under falling objects if you can help it. It’s a preposterous way to die.”

“Who knows?” You send him a small, cheeky smile, closing the book in your hands and moving away from standing under the arm that still holds the book in the air, “I might just have your quick reflexes to take advantage of again if it happens.”

“I highly doubt—”

“See you,” you wave.

You walk off, and he woefully realizes he hates nothing more than watching you leave. (He’s doomed. Just as doomed as you are oblivious.)

if zayne had any say in it, he'd have med student!reader's exams moved to another week so you can go through the brunt of your period without having to bury yourself in stacks of books and flashcards.

but he doesn't.

so zayne does what he knows best—make the pain more bearable, the challenges you face easier.

he lets you sleep in, brushing the hair curtaining your face away to plant a kiss on your forehead before he heads out. he comes home an hour later, strong arms carrying bags stuffed with menstrual products and your favorite snacks, having already placed an order to your favorite restaurant.

you're already awake by the time he sets the goods down on the floor of his bedroom.

it's clear to zayne, though, that you don't have the strength to stand up, let alone walk all the way to the desk in his office, body curling into yourself as you whimper in pain, so he sets up a foldable table he was gifted years back on his bed. he coaxes you into propping yourself up against his headboard, a cautious hand making sure you don't hit the back of your head on the wood.

he gathers all the materials you need study and begins to recap to you the topics. his voice is low, steady as an anchor. his hand acts as a hot compress, pressed over your lower abdomen, fingers drawing circles to massage the flesh and ease the pain. he makes sure you're able to soak in every bit of information that comes out of his mouth, asking you questions in between with the promise of a reward if you get them right. he even lets you take more breaks than he usually would, incredibly lenient and succumbing to whatever you want if you so much as whine.

the rest of his day is spent in bed with you, surrounded by your notes and empty takeout containers and crumpled bags of candies and chips on the floor. and when you wake up the next morning, you're more than ready to take on your exam.

zayne can't make the world pause over your suffering, but he can and will help you bear the weight on your shoulders.

a/n: notice how med student!reader only comes out when i, too, am suffering over my course ... anyways i actually think this sucks ass but im on my period everything hurts i need to study but i dont want to study anymore so this is the best i can do for now (not proofread btw)

hoonieyun notes: im sick asf rn and my boyfriend has been so sweet for taking care of me and i just had to write a drabble about it LOL anyways i hope everyone is well & are in good health!!

your night had been restless. your nose was clogged, congested, you had a migraine, and it didn’t help that you were also overheating and nothing was able to cool you down. you barely slept the night before and right now you wished you could sleep but you’re just staring blankly at the wall of your boyfriend’s bedroom, mouth open so you could breathe and the soft humming sound of the humidifier that was running in the corner of his room was filling the silence of the room. 

you blinked a few times with a sniffle as you heard the bedroom door slightly creak as it opened. “babe? you awake?” jay says, walking over to where you’re laying on his bed and crouching down in front of you. you groaned and nodded as you locked eyes. although you told him plenty of times that he shouldn’t be in such close proximity to you; he refused and continued to do his best to nurse you back to full health. 

“okay, come on you need to take your medicine again.” he informs you and you sluggishly sit up in the bed, groaning at the idea of having to take the bitter medicine. jay hands you the small cup with the vibrant orange liquid and you down it in one go, your face contorting slightly into a displeased expression when the bitter taste goes down your throat. jay offers you a glass of water and lemon and you take it instantly, wanting to wash away the bitter taste. “thank you, babe.” you say and jay helps you settle back comfortably in his bed. 

“you’re so cute.” he says with a soft chuckle and an adoring smile. 

“cute?” you ask and he just nods with the same smile. 

“babe, im open mouth breathing, coughing and sneezing like a 70 year old dad, and i sound like i have a tuba stuck in my throat… and you think im cute?” you say, surprised at his words because in all honesty; you were the furthest from cute. even your own mom wouldn’t call you cute at this state. 

“of course, you’re cute. you’re always cute, ok?” he says, patting your head gently as you pout at him. how did you get so lucky to have such a sweet boyfriend?

you and jay have known each other for upwards of a year but after months of dates he finally asked you to be his girlfriend and although it’s been less than a month since you were official, he’s been nothing but great and an even better boyfriend than he was when you two weren’t official yet. 

“thank you for taking care of me.” you say, grabbing his hand before he walks off to put away your medicine. “of course, baby.” he says, a warm smile on his face. 

“i’m your boyfriend, i’m going to do everything i can to make you feel better and happy. 

i don’t care if you’re sick, i’m going to take care of you.

that’s what i’m here for.” 

his words alone heal your sickness and you can’t help but imagine a life of forever with him. 

“besides, if i get sick then it’s your turn to take care of me!” he says teasingly, a wide cheesy smile as you roll your eyes at him, the two of you laughing it off.

for one thing, im too addicted, too distracted. i love the community here, but its too much. i cant focus, and i need to if im going to make it through this school year.

also, i just. dont feel enough. ive always struggled with inferiority from always comparing myself to others. i have so many ideas, so many creations-to-be, but im too hooked on likes and reblogs and everything. too hooked on the feeling when someone sees and acknowledges my work. i cant help but feel that whatever i create, theres always going to be someone better that people really look at and enjoy. and its unhealthy, which is another reason why im taking a break. i have to love my creations before getting obsessed over whether other people do, because im done with hating something just because other people didn't like it or because i think other people won't like it

.lastly, i really need to open up to my parents more. i love talking to you guys and being so open, but at the end of the day, after all thats happened from october-december, it just doesnt feel right ranting online in general.

i love you guys, i really do, but its becoming too much and i need to know when to stop. i dont plan on deactivating any time soon though, trust<3
