I find it kind of interesting that none of the big social media seem to have implemented a "x number of your followers are online" feature.

Like to be clear I don't want it or care. But I'm just positive that the more influencer-y type of social media users would want it, and have definitely asked for it. Most social media sites already have a "show if someone's online" feature so the information is seemingly there.

It's possible it could be prohibitively difficult to implement. Like maybe the cost of pinging for online status is one thing when it's for a list of ~20-ish "most recent chats", but another if it's trying to read through (and refresh) the statuses for a list of several-million followers. I don't fully believe that, though. I think engineers could work a bit of magic with look-up tables, decent caching, subscribed event listeners for follower keys, and queued events for changed statuses that only fire off at set intervals. And if they're willing to fuzz the numbers they could just take a random sample of followers and scale the number.

I'm more inclined to believe that it doesn't exist because it would be detrimental to the social media site itself. Maybe user engagement would go down during any "non-optimal" time of day since users would know when they're not maxing out on online followers. It could create a feedback loop of "I won't post at 4pm since that's not when most of my followers are online" -> "I won't go online at 4pm because my feed is dead and no one is posting."

I wonder if it could discourage use all together. For an account with 10,000 followers, maybe 5,000 are dead accounts, 2,500 are bots, 1,500 are people who only check the website once a week or so, and among the remaining 1,000 who are daily users maybe only 50-100 of them are online at a given moment. You're probably gonna get a lot more engagement from someone who thinks they're posting for an audience of 10,000 rather than an audience of 50.

Hell, maybe it would be bad news for attracting advertisers! If a website is trying to boast "we have hundreds of millions of users", a metric like online followers might tip their hand and bring into question how many of those hundreds of millions are dead accounts or bots.

Anyway I just think it's interesting that for social media sites will actually never be interested in implementing a feature that does not please its advertisers first. You are both the customer and the product, but mostly the product. Features aren't added based on what you want. They're added based on what will keep you around.

ah sorry for the long message but i had a lot of thoughts about it. if there's been anyone i trust to know sources what they're doing it'd be you. i've been on tumblr a very long time (..before i was even old enough to. about 13 years total. aka also before people STARTED crediting anybody. i don't even think it had a source link section. (cause i remember it was a big deal when added) and your blog is the only one that i've seen consistent in crediting or sources. and i've you get asks like "can you please tell me where this is from" and you do. you've always provided links/or told us where to find it or where it's from. some of it we can literally find ourselves. some of us also been here in this fandom long enough to be like "ah i remember that and where it's from" and can go find it ourselves if we wanted to. depends what it is.

i'm sorry you're going through this you're really sweet and pretty good at telling sources or telling where to find them, even the reblogging resources and stuff, i've never seen as much, as i have from you. like there's so many and even posts to sources. if there's anyone i trust with it it'd be you. wow, thank you so much for everything you said. everything you said really means a lot to me. i panicked me when i found out what they were talking about me bc they were talking about me on other blogs. its really super uncomfortable to know that other anons are saying lies about you to blogs that maybe that dont even know who you are or follow you. i'm lucky that this happened to someone who talks to me and follows me and knows that i always give credit to everyone. i'm also careful when i'm looking for fanarts to reblog. i always try to check if its not a repost or something like that. i'm always very careful with these stuff and knowing that people have noticed makes me so relieved.

1)Not to be that person but sasaengs arent going to give you information about bts dating life for free so there is no way that they are out there screaming about it on Tweeter. Also a good amount of saesang dont have legit informations and proofs and there had been moments that they have made things up. One example is from back 2016 if i remember right.

2)There was this account that was talking with a saesang and she bought some videos of jungkook supposedly having some "time" with himself and for the ss that she posted exposing the person you can see that one of the videos was well know in tumblr from 2013/14 and the boy indeed sounded a lot like jk even tho he wasnt jk. The point is that in the end of the day sasaengs can be delusionals and can be also shippers and do anything to sale you something.

Mio was an editor at US Weekly, he is a former partner of MA, in the beginning, he enjoyed all the scoops. He was later fired when new owners came in. He appears to be MM spokesmen. He has detailed KP information. Yet he has no job.
