sharing my opinion here about serizawas design inconsistencies over time (spoilers for mp100 ending) i feel like in each new rendition of serizawa weve seen in official art ever since the start of S3 something feels off in a different way with every new merch release

lets start here ⬇ serizawa looks like,, himself. accurate to how hes drawn since his first anime appearance

⬇⬇⬇ and then slowly,,, things start to look off. his jawline is slowly getting slimmer, his eyes look wider (same with mobs too)

AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THESE. especially the one on the right my god. who is that

every new promo art that comes out just feels very careless. I think you could say so for all the characters (mobs giant eyes, reigens waist getting skinnier/pointier features. the PROMO art of dimple that was literally FULLY TRACED OFF OF A TEMU PIRATE HALLOWEEN COSTUME. they all look bad here)

it just feels a little depressing how little they seem to care anymore, like theyre just trying to pump out merch without bothering to use a character reference.

i notice the changes the most with serizawa. every promo art looks like theyre playing a game of telephone. each version of him is based on the last, instead of his initial design (shown below)

at the end of S2, when reigen cuts serizawas hair, he still looks like himself. they did a great job of showing "how serizawa would look underneath his moustache and big hair". In S3 it feels like they've lost that mentality completely. like he's no longer based off of his original design, but an entirely new reference of his salary man look. some comparisons between S3 vs S2 and OVA down below

I find that the line weight in S3 is much heavier and unfocused. but what bothers me most of all is that... Serizawa looks different in nearly every scene... as if they're undecided on what he should look like. the shape of his nose and jaw, his hair all change depending on the episode entirely.

The art style change for S3 was meant to be "more accurate to the manga", but I find that it had the opposite effect. especially how serizawas and ritsus eye shapes changed. ritsus large pupils and serizawas more almond shaped eyes were more reflective of their manga designs there are plenty of inconsistences in S1 and 2, but they're clearly done with purpose to reflect on ONEs art style (my beloved). I feel like the thinner lines allow more room for detail and extreme facial expressions that truly hold a candle to ONEs insane talent for capturing emotions.

just felt very underwhelming... and serizawa certainly does mellow out once he starts working at S&S, but that doesn't mean that there's less opportunity for detailed expressions !!

the yokai fight scene was beautifully made i have no qualms.. but the amount of serizawa lore and dialogue in the manga that got cut from the anime just made him look like a cardboard cut out standing behind everyone. lots of funny and interesting moments cut to make room for the moefication of serizawa katsuya..

I feel like there's a lot of important moments that were cut, (reigen "i hope i can become a partner like that" arataka, serizawa "ive had a similar experience myself" katsuya )

or sad, intense scenes that were made lighthearted (the body improvement club trying to help mob, mob and ??? dialogue being cut, reigen removing his shoes in the final arc made to be meant for better grip rather than... his passively suicidal tendencies )

i think the people at bones are very talented dont get me wrong, i just felt like S3 could have been adapted better. this keeps me up at night its like 1am :) anywhosies thank you for listening to my ted talk i love you

(OC Lore and design time!)

(it got longer again ... sorry ... idk how to make things short, i just need to talk, but i guess if you can read the written stuff in the pic thats the barest bare bones of what i wrote here)

i was asked what new lore story stuff i had thought about that made me sad which i mentioned a bit ago, and while that is too hard to explain given all the missing context i thought i could at least talk about lore having to do with it :D

so, (Lord) Eadrya is one of my fav OCs (big blue lad, here a rough sketch in humanoid form) they are both one of if not THE most powerful demon alive and the most battle trained;

at the mid point of the story the demon world gets invaded by the celestials (the angel inspired things i talked about in the previous lore post with Xaror) and Shargon, as the king, should be their first and only frontline, but at this point his life is only being sustained by maschinery after being mortally wounded, he cannot fight (he realizes what is going on, rips himself off the maschinery to get at least his youngest child to safety, barely managing it before dying- the guardian, the demons god, takes over his body to attempt to fight against the celestials but cant keep itself alive long enough since its host is already dead) Eadrya takes the role of the frontline fighter (despite being very full of themselves and aggressive they care about their 'job' of protecting their own, also giving them the chance to show off just how strong they are); the fight was going well for them all things considered, but when the guardian activates it drains the power of all elemental lords (which Eadrya is one of, and since they have the most strength it also takes the most from them), so much so that they lose the fight and suffer deadly wounds (the worst being a spear through the chest made of a material that grows hard, root-like formations when in contact with demonic blood like a fungus but worse, also stopping any self healing processes) after the guardian falls apart it creates a huge shockwave of energy that stuns every living thing within a certain distance and possibly more-

Eadrya (in true demon form, so like a blue whale in size at least) was likely taken through an active gateway to the human world in a large tidal wave also created by the guardians fall; they wash up in the harbor of a small secluded village, the head of which is 'lady 13'; although never having seen a demon before and everyone being afraid (largely thinking its a strange hurt animal, only she suspected otherwise), they still gather all villagers to pull out the celestial spear, which is diffcult and brutal given that its already taken root, but the village lacked both knowledge and means to help any other way- doing so damaged their heart which is how they were able to collect samples of all three demonic blood types ('normal' -red like humans-, energy -essentially purely magic- and heartblood -highly concentrated energy only found within the heart of a demon and the only one to contain genetic material) (this is the start of Eadryas character arc, having to deal with the fact that their world is likely destroyed, them failing what they didnt think they could fail, having lost a battle so badly (even if not really their fault) for the first time and not knowing if literally anyone else has survived .. also being now stuck in the human world, which they dont like)

Lady 13 (placeholder name? stands for experiment 13) is a human that was tricked by demon hunters to enroll into a series of experiments trying to create hybrids of demons and humans, which they hoped would be powerful and easily controllable tools for their endeavours, though the two are inherently not compatible, they tried grafting body parts of demons on humans to make them compatible- all experiments failed except for her, more or less, though she never got to see the hybrid she carried and was then told it had died too, they threw her out believing she wouldnt survive much longer either and all such experiments were cancelled due to the high cost of human life, research material (demons are still rare) and upkeep with no successful results Lady 13 survived though (perhaps even via the pirates picking her up?) and she ended up living in said small village far away, hiding her half demonic body, though most know there soemthing 'wrong' with her (her being this tall when it doesnt fit the rest for one), only few know the full extent; she enjoys the life she has now, perhaps on the more poor side but safer and more loved than ever before; she largely lead the efforts to try and help Eadrya when they ended up in the harbor, though there wasnt that much anyone could do it was still enough- they leave immediately after waking up, but return after really having nowhere to go and struggling to deal with everything that has happened; over time (probably years) they start to open up towards the people there (though not .. very much) enough to get rather close with Lady 13 too- she actually falls madly in love but after Eadrya (extremely aro/ace) rejects all her attempts quite clearly she respects their boundaries

However, after hearing news of potential demon sightings Eadrya decides to leave in hopes of not being the last demon left after all; Lady 13 then decides to reveal her secret to them (though hearing and seeing what lengths hunters would go to for their experiments makes them absolutely seething with rage- she insists on not being out for revenge) and asks if they would be willing to donate a small amount of heartblood; shes always wanted to be a mother but is now incompatible with humans too- through things she picked up back at the experiments facillity, hers and her doctors research she is sure that is all that is needed, she dares to ask since she does not know when, if ever, she will meet another demon, much less one she could actually trust enough for this though Eadrya hesitates (why would she want to go through the same thing again that didnt work and threatened her life, if it does work, do they want to be involved with any of this? what if hunters find out it worked after all?) but after her ensuring that they would have no part in it other than giving up a little blood and would not be considered a parent in any way, nor made responsible for anything that might happen to her, but considering it all in the end they agree to it

only for her to reveal shes had a small bottle of it already, along with multiple samples of the other types, which she collected when Eadrya was bleeding out into the harbor not knowing if they will survive, though not wanting to make use of it without their consent either way (they are actuallly rather touched by this)

alot later the main group returns here and it turns out to have worked (though she is unable to walk/bedridden for a long while bc it did alot of damage to her body, which can heal since its demons parts, but only really slowly bc she does not have a full functioning system and no demonic blood of her own -she uses the other samples for the healing process-) though its a little awkward to explain, especially considering that 13.1 took alot after Eadrya xD (their theory as to why it worked so "well" that time is that even though the sample was already taken, them giving their consent for it still made it less likely to be rejected; demons dont need partners to have offspring, and all can do it, they just have to decide to- so them agreeing to it, even though its long been outside their body, still had an effect on the blood sample)

Due to some mishap, some of the students ended up in.. none other than the AFTERLIFE! But, this afterlife doesn't seem to be like the way they thought it would be? Why do you need to be scanned to check inside.. But all you need to focus on is HOW TO ESCAPE! No matter how enticing the desire is to dance and sing with the skeletons!

The only way to escape is to join a musical contest of showing art in different forms! While at the same time, resisting the magic that will slowly turn you into a spirit!

I have mixed feelings on the witches, I'm gonna go through them all.

Renata and Ren: It just doesn't feel like the minor bits match up. There's too many bits that are just slightly too different. Like the screen shape and the bone colour and style. Am I being nitpicky? It just doesn't feel like the witch and doppel are linked. Or that they wanted to make this design for the witch and didn't really care that it didn't look like her doppel. I suppose I like how the witch is more organised than the doppel cause my gripe with it is that it feels a little like the parts don't mesh well. Like, what is going on with that pink bit it does not work. On its own, the witch is good. Fine, pretty, but a little bland and simple. As a design taking from the doppel, I think it kinda fails. Too much was changed.

Cyan and Hinano: Ehhhhhhhhhh I think they just made her worse?? Like, there's so little changed cause the doppel is so witch-like anyway but the changes they did do make her look worse XT the bright tubes are ugly and I dont understand the moth-ear-thing additions. Also the skirt is worse too lol. I miss the gas mask though I understand if that was added for Hinano but you can keep it on the witch c'mon! It's just like they removed all the best parts...

Don Rocinante and Sasara: Ehhhhhhhh here we go again. It looks stupid. C'mon she looks so stupid. Not in an uncanny, scary way, she looks so dumb. I included the doppel attack where she does get legs and that was silly but not as much as this one. Otherwise so little is changed mehhhhh. I liked the doppel so you kinda ruined her for me, thanksssss

Shalimar and Emiri: This is one I'm on the fence on. Design on its own, I really like. She's spooky and weird and the colours are great. I have to main issues. 1) does a 13 year old need such a sexual feeling witch and 2) does she link to her doppel well. The thing with curvaceous or sexualised witches is ones like Roberta I know are okay cause she was in her 30s when she became a witch. You could say some like Candeloro are sexualised cause she's got the booba and stick thin waist, it's kinda hard to deal with... I'm also finding it hard to judge cause I don't know if it suits Emiri, I don't know her character very well. So we'll just move on. If I drew it I would make her less adult-looking My other thought when looking at her beside her doppel was 'if this doppel came from this witch I would hate the fact it uses so little of the witch'. So switching it around, im a little mad they used so little of the doppel. It's like they had the idea for the body and wanted to use it and were like 'oh yeah! the doppel!' so stuck it on as a tail... Also the flower things on the doppel arent in the witch at all ughh. If she was just a new witch on her own id love her...

Vayu and Shizuku: Wow! One I actually finally like now! I think she looks super beautiful, the additions work! But she's not perfect... Just like Emiri and Shalimar, I don't see the doppel working if the witch came first. Why is her handbag now the head? It feels like the teapot(?) head on the witch came out of nowhere. But it's nowhere near as bad as Shalimar. She might be my favourite. I've always been 50/50 on Vayu and she improves that score.

Aodamo and Natsuki: This one's a bit boring... it just feels like they stuck on some additions and called it a day. I think if she was stood up straight I'd like her more... Love the teeth on the horn thing. Skirt is fine. Legs look awkward. Sad they removed her puffy sleeves, doesn't make sense as why the doppel would add that aspect.

Overall, it is a little annoying how clearly some of these are just super easy asset copies of the doppels with no effort put in... I think that's fine for say, Vayu as I think the doppel incorporation makes sense. She's a four legged beast so Shizuku is now riding her. But ones like Don Rocinante, Cyan and Aodamo seem like 5 minute attempts. I'm disappointed. Happy to see witches though, I'm only critical because I care about witches being good

i dont enjoy the shrinkwrapped eels myself but i did enjoy your analysis on it! i think another point is that the stitch card did show floyd with better draw shirtless anatomy, which in itself leads to either "new card weird art" or "well hes /differant species/ in this card of course hes different" conclusions :P

That is a good point! Like I said, I'm never going to fault someone for finding the cards strange or off-putting, especially considering how strange some of the anatomy choices for those cards were.

You make a great point about the beachwear Floyd card! I had a similar line of thought that ended up being cut out of the final post, but you're correct that since we do have multiple Floyd cards that show his upper body at this point, we can compare them.

Again, forgive a bit of the crunch, as I'm working the the teaser image for the new card. I also overlaid the two cards using the major skeletal landmarks such as the collarbones and the shoulderblades. Of course, this could be an artistic difference and it seems like the perspective is making Floyd look a lot skinnier than he is, but at the very least it makes it easy to see the differences in his shoulders and chest.

A few things of note - we can see that Floyd's shoulder muscles are more pronounced and as are his collarbones. However, I would honestly say the muscle definition is comparable in his actual abdomen, it just looks like the Merman Form Card doesn't have as much fat, which is consistent with what I said in the first card. I think it's pretty interesting to actually see the comparison of the two cards because it makes it easy to tell where the designer for the card was trying to highlight the 'inhuman' aspects of Floyd's design - particularly how his skin hugs his collarbones. You don't see that much in humans because of the layer of fat I mentioned in the original post - we get a much smoother line from our collarbones to our pectoral muscles.

Essentially, in his 'human' card with stitch, Floyd has much more human features, and I believe even with the anatomy weirdness in the newer cards, that was probably intentional.

Another point to bring up, this sort of goes hand in hand with wanting to have a monstrous design. Canonically, the Leech twins are both noted to be a bit strange and off putting, and the Freshmen mention being startled by how different they look when they see them in the sea. A little fun fact about monster design is that you see more angular "sharp" designs and musculature and bones below the skin because it gives a more visceral feel to the monsters in video games and media. Here are a few examples of what I mean:

For example, at the top you can see the Xenomorph from Alien, and you can see how the design resembles a ribcage and how there's a muscle-like band between the shoulder and the chest. Under that is a boss from Bloodborne, and again you can see these similar hallmarks in the shoulder anatomy and ribcage aspects of the design. Then, the one on the bottom is Acrid from Risk of Rain, who is an unlockable hero that is mean to be alien. Even though you can tell Acrid isn't meant to be human, you can still see the elements of the design that are inspired by humans in the arm and chest muscles, even in the pixel art style. I have also included an image of Acrid from Risk of Rain 2 so you can see how his design was translated into three dimensions and how you can still see the pectoral muscles even with the softer shape design for the character.

That is to say, if you wanted to make a palatable monster character, typically the best ways to give a monstery feel while still having them seem humanoid is through muscle definition and shape language.

The cards, to my understanding, are dropping in the Japanese release in about two days from me posting this, so I'm definitely very curious to see what the groovies will look like. (And also if they will be crying as has been a pattern so far. I must admit I'm very curious if that is a consistent theme what would make them cry.)

i mean it HAS to be Oleander, right?? i dont think i even have anyone quite as tricky to draw he's that messed up anatomically hahaha. he's actually my second attempt at conjoined bodies bc i couldnt draw the first one. Sonata and Shelley are probably pretty close behind in that they have literal patchwork flesh held together by permanent staples but they're otherwise fairly normal. ooor maybe Oliver because. he has scarf for arms and chest zipper. forever. how do you clean that

i think it could be argued that conceptually, Kazzie's extremely messed up too; constantly attaching spare bones to their body and with the ability to manipulate them? including the ones actively inside them?? but their design is presented in a way that it's aesthetically pleasing and not.... freaky. i think they'd be way WAY worse irl LOL

tbh i have a lot of guys who are kinda jacked up but its Normal for them (rye, the japhets) and a LOT who have endured some pretty fucked up body stuff to get to where they are but look fine now (clarion, ikoria), but that's more of a meta sense...

please tell us how dess would approach kris’ species dysphoria & how she would teach him to deal with it. if she doesn’t just laugh awkwardly abt it and try to ignore it

actually!!! this is the one thing dess has going for her lol, i like to joke that in this au by losing their identity issues kris instead gains mommy issues. but basically, the big thing that even LEADS kris to all their identity issues in the first place is that when theyre like ten they find a book on humans in the library and realize them being a monster is a Lie, and around this time azzy is leaving for college, their parents are divorcing, dess has just gone missing, they're cutting themself off from noelle, and its this perfect storm for everything to go to absolute shit for kris. they lose their monster identity, everyone around them is trying to comfort them by saying 'its okay if youre human we still love you' when kris ISNT human and THAT ISNT HELPING, and theyre angry and bitter and a lot of kris's anger comes out as aggression and when cornered/when they feel theyre cornered they tend to lash out, which then bleeds into them realizing that of course they werent ever a monster because monsters are good always and theyre not a good person and coyotes are bad animals and kris isnt good or a monster and they sure as shit arent a human but maybe they can be THIS...etc etc etc. its a shitshow lol, but you know that we've seen how i write kris elsewhere.

BUT IN THIS AU, none of that happens!!! kris is 5 when dess dips with them and thus never actually finds out they're biologically human, or at least, not in the way they do in my canon. unlike asriel (who sees kris calling themself a monster and worries), dess is like 'alright cool' and just updates her mental kris file with 'is a monster' and so she treats and sees them as such.

that isnt to say kris doesnt struggle with species dysphoria, because they do, and they do probably eventually find out their body is biologically human (tho i havent really thought much about how that goes lol). but when this does happen they have chara who supports them, dess who supports them, frisk who supports them...and while they still idealize DESS to an unhealthy degree not being the only human in an all-monster town (+ having a human parent and sibling) means they never actually start idolizing ALL monsters in that unhealthy way.

so, the kris of this au isnt human, and very much feels uncomfortable when they're read as such. but their family (dess, chara, frisk) know them to be a monster. and they're able to model their appearance to appear more monster-like. i dont have a FULL design for kris yet (cause character design is my achilles heel lol) but they for sure wear a pair of antlers (akin to the horn headband, but these are Real Bone Antlers they probably got at an antique store that were modified so its like, feasible for them to wear these pretty much constantly), some sort of modified shoes/boots so it sounds like hoofclicks when they walk, probably other things i havent figured out yet...

its to the point that kris tends to be read as monster more-so than they're read as human! which has implications for when noelle first meets them, of course...but thats for another time.

and for those who might be wondering 'wait but isnt your kris a coyote?' they are! this kris is the same kris who goes on to be a coyote, its just kris's coyote-ness does have a very physiological origin lol. takes a few very specific circumstances for them to go coyote and not monster. but no matter what they are never a human <3

BONES !!!!!!! i have not thought about this before, somehow. ive thought about michael, but not william. i guess he would be pretty fucked up in the pain department, honestly. while the scars appear to just be skin-deep, whose to say it didnt hurt like a bitch when you have them Clamping Down On Your Fucking Joints? like, i briefly-and i mean BRIEFLY- dislocated my knee and it snapped back into place on its own, and it's still a lot more sensitive and weaker than the other one, so i have no trouble believing that he'd have physical pain like that. doesn't help that he is also an old man, and people generally hurt more as they get older

As for how it affected him mentally, I cant really be sure. Since i dont have like, a detailed description of what happened and how, its hard for me to try and put myself in his shoes and extrapolate from there. He clearly isnt too bothered by it, considering how much he adores the suits (and especially the spring bonnie one. for obvious reasons. which we can also assume probably springlocked him initially)

post-springtrap though? im conflicted. i know in the novels he makes a point of saying that he likes being springtrap, and hes fucked up enough to view him as a character-a role that he wants to play, a comical over the top villain. and while i do love that for him, really, theres something about how hes presented in fnaf 3; that quiet, barely audible groaning as he moves around the building, the relentless approach thats only stunted by the suit forcibly moving him toward sound due to its programming...................................ouuugggghhrghh. look. im a fucking sucker for horror, and i love how horrific fnaf 3 is when you get to thinking about it, so im biased toward it. we can use the novel springtrap as a fun way to learn about his personality, and how it plays into how hes cartoonish bastard, but i generally prefer the idea that it fucking sucks to be stuck in that suit. like, getting springlocked is bad enough, but the fact his chance to enact revenge was stunted by the suit moving his half-intact body around, probably causing immense pain? that shit fucks. really into that

as far as his opinions on spring bonnie....i dunno. hed like him. hes his character, after all, his.....literal fursona, in some ways. i dont think its a coincidence that he chose a spring bonnie related form to represent his digital consciousness, nor is it a coincidence that he repeatedly chose spring bonnie to be his physical form (see glitchtrap & burntrap; different bodies from springtrap, yet still spring bonnie. he did not have to do that. but he did)

The purple thing is also related to this last one. Its the accent color he used on spring bonnie (see glitchtraps vest & springbonnies bowtie), so he was probably rather fond of it. hes almost equally represented by yellow, so i think thats a top contender for favorite color too, but purple takes the cake. his car is a 1970 plum colored doge challenger with black accents To Me. i havent really thought about his driving. id imagine it fine, hed probably actually be good at it after getting used to driving 3 children around in it and having to focus on the road and them at the same time

So, I was in a good mood and I couldn't sleep, so I decided "Y'know, my AU has been giving me insane brain rot lately. I should really go do those concept designs!" My mood very quickly diminished by the 3 hour mark.

So just to preface, since these are concept designs they're all on the same body type and blank pose, as all three of them have different body types and sketching out all three of them would've actually made me go looney, also they're headless like all outfit design concepts should be

So let's start with the easiest design; N!

Her design is relatively the same as their canon outfit, just with his over shirt being transformed into a coat. The collar be more loosened to symbolise a more laid back kind of personality, and her turtle neck extending to their hands simply because I like it. Other than all that, she's the same, nothing to really note

Now we're going into a bit more of a complex design; Ghetsis

I'll admit I had some fun with this. A long dynamic coat to symbolise his incredibly dramatic personality, along with a faux corset to symbolise nobility in his iconic colouring. Flared pants simply because I like it and gloves for obvious reasons, the belts simply exist to be dramatic, they don't actually have a working purpose. Big pockets because he carries around too much stuff, and of course the plasma insignia.

His outfit is very covered, to show his modesty but also to hint as his body image issues that I won't elaborate on right now. However I did notice this left me without a section to colour with his skin tone, so I just slapped it above the turtle neck even though it basically covers his neck.

Now let's get to the problem child that had me dreading the end run of this; Alder

Do you remember that post you made about making designs more complex than a tshirt and pants gives you a hernia? I felt that, I felt that so far into my bones. If you look closely you can see the point where I just fucking gave up at getting it in the lines.

The fur is designed to give off more of a "look at me, obviously I'm important" sorta vibe. Also his front piece on his poncho on the canon design being switched to be on his back is to symbolised a "flipped" personality. Sun charm because I heavily associate him with the sun, wrappings around his hands and feet because he used to punch things too much but now he finds the pressure of the wrappings comforting, and the ones around his feet are because he literally never wears shoes. In his defence though he stayed in his room basically all of his life, you don't wear shoes in your room, at least I don't.

The moment I draw this bastard genuinely outside of concepts I may actually perish, this bastard gave me more of a headache than you could possibly imagine. But a complex design shows a complex character in a way, god I fucking hate drawing fur

Am posting this here already, so my tumblr's all caught up.

Drew his initial design back in august. Unfortunately, i dont have a name and solid character background for him yet (working on it). Some parts of his design (including the colors), are intentional, while others arent so much. My design may still change, sooo(i might tone it down, the details)

Here's one fact about him though: Not only

do his fists deliver strong punches, theyre also REALLY heavy, they jus dont look like it (the muscle/bone density isnt proportional to the size of his body). This made him cry as a kid, it's like lifting weights everyday. Eventually trained himself and got used to it, and utilized it to his potential. Due to the weight of his fists, he tends to run relatively slow

Okay so I imagine them to have been these twins who got,, fused together? something like that. Occasionally one or the other will take control or whatever of the fused body, and that's usually able to be told by the colors that they wear and slight difference in appearance. Both of them wish to be "themselves again", however there isn't really a way for them to be that again. They are the only character that I DONT have a design OR a name/names for, so I'm just gonna refer to each side as their song counterparts. Self- is calm, quiet and more so the emotional one of the two. -Ish is arrogant, worrisome and quick to jump to conclusions. I haven't thought abt separate identities for the two, although (both of) their pronouns are they/them.

OKAY BACK

(STOP WHY DO THE PROPORTIONS LOOK LIKE TAHT )

2012's real name is Morana. She's a Theorist, mainly trying to solve some of the wackiest mysteries that the universe she lives in has to offer, but mainly her own. Morana is struck with some sort of unknown illness, one that progressively gets worse. She doesn't remember how she got it, but she remembers when (guys this is gonna be a really hard one to answer,,, hmmmmmmm

she got the illness around 2012).

Her eyes appear abnormally, looking like black doll eyes. Many colorful cracks form on her skin eventually breaking to reveal her inner body. Its the worst on her face, with her having to cover it with a machine that allows her to see that kind of looks like a VR headset. The cracks and abnormalities will eventually lead to her death, and that's what Morana's trying to theorize about. She thinks that if nobody will know how she'll die, she'll figure it out herself before the time comes.

Bit of personality here -- Morana is a Talkative person, yet tends to be an anxious + nervous person. However, along with the Anxiety, she's driven by that (one of those people that are motivated BY anxiety). She's nonbinary, Bi, demisexual, and her pronouns are She/Her.

Cotards solution

Think abt that one friend in the friend group that's off the rails/pos

Loud, dramatic and forgetful a lot of the times, Cotards solution is yet a character shrouded with mystery. Resurrected by unknown forces, a man unknown by, well, everyone enters the scene. Cotards doesn't have a name (not bc I didn't think of one shhhh), mainly because nobody can put a name to the rotting face. He knows and believes he's dead, yet many people don't believe he is. He feels as if the body he has will be at peace if he's dead, because he already is, but everyone will believe he died just for the cause of it.

His body is translucent, and what shows underneath his skin are just his bones. Thats mainly because hes mainly a skeleton with magical counterparts giving him another life (he still has many human features though). Cotards dissociates a lot and tends to stop talking mid-sentence.

Cotards has a third eye. It tends to disappear and reappear, not necessarily with or without a reason. He constantly wears these red three-framed glasses for his eyes. Im not quite sure what else to add uhh. Cotards is gay and uses he/him pronouns.

Mr. Capgras

Mysterious, quiet, and a nervous wreck. Mr. Capgras, first name Victor, is probably the oldest of all of the SELF-iSH characters. Formerly an engineer, Victor struggles with visions and illusions of the sense. Consistently seeing ghosts and hearing voices, not to mention the everlasting fear of everyone being not who they say they are and that they're out to get him !? jesus christ,. someone go get him therapy NOW speaking emoji fire emoji!!!!

He's very paranoid, and will avoid almost any social interaction because of this. He also has really bad trust issues, not mainly bc of his fears, but also because once he gained this strange illness and paranoia, everyone in his life left him. He also gets visions of the same people (the same people in question turn out to be the other SELF-iSH ocs).

He has these blemishes and scars on his skin that don't heal, With beady black eyes like Morana's/2012's. They don't share the same canon illness, however (none of them do, minus one character that ill get to). He is constantly wearing those like. floral designed suits. or just suits in general. idk what's up with that. He's Agender, Panromantic, Grey asexual and uses He/Him pronouns.

The song with 5 names

Your average guy. except uhh we cant have that here, its fused with 4 people (or, more specifically, their minds) . Their original name is Vincent, but is barely called by that name anymore. The four people in question are Morana, Cotards, Victor and the character of "Hand me my shovel, I'm going in!" .

Constantly on edge, hyper and shakes way too much. It changes personalities FAST, Mainly because of the 4 different (mind) fusions. Vincent tends to talk to himself a lot, mainly because it tries to send messages to the 4 of them.

I JUST ACCIDENTALLY DELETED A PARAGRAPH OH MY GOD

Their body is covered in cracks, holes, patterns and abnormalities of the like. Along with this, the abnormalities are never fluid, and are constantly changing. Little physical fact - Vincent had heterochromia, and now thats developed into a cracked beady eye and A completely blank white eye. Vincent uses He/it/they pronouns, and is aroace + genderfluid.

Burned out + tired character of the ocs. Dawn is a conspiracist/ theorist who tried to find someone that hasn't ever existed. She looks for the answers to a solution of a problem that hasn't even been thought of, yet wont be denied that the person doesn't exist. The person was the love of dawns life, and needs to find an answer as to where they went.

Dawn occasionally sees ghosts from time to time and also experiences hallucinations. One could speculate that the "love of her life" WAS a ghost, but the evidence isn't enough to prove it yet (oh my god making references to the original songs its so fun ANYWAYS).

I imagine Dawn and Morana to be like theorist buddies. what if plot twist the love of her life in question WAS Morana BEFORE the illness?? Except she didnt know Morana changed??? hmmmmm muhahah

Dawn constantly wears suits. Like. you could be going to the motherfucking grocery store and BOOM suit and tie. not the point. Dawn has multiple scars on her face and hands, due to physical injuries. She has dark heavy eyebags, and is pale as a ghost due to malnourishment. Her pronouns are She/her and is a demigirl + lesbian.

Dr. Sunshine (is dead)

by far my most worked on character probably. Dr. Sunshine, Also known as William sunshine (Yes this IS a reference to WW's old work), has been at and through many places at a time. Working with all sorts of magic, the "good" or the "bad" kind, or the things that feel like magic (uhhh drugs), He'll get his hands on. From working as a "doctor" to A ringmaster (I'd go into depth into that but that's a verbal equinox territory), hes done almost all of it. He's done WAY too many bad deeds to be considered "wanted", yet nobody seems to know him.

Charming yet mysterious, It feels like he seems to know everyone. Maybe its because he actually does !!!

Plot twist grahh!!! hes been behind all of the "illness's" and "diseases", and fusions of the like. Yes, even Cotards resurrection. In fact what if i told you that Dr. Sunshine resurrected Cotards to be with him once more !!!! Diversity win! the ocs are gay!

GETTING OFF TOPIC!!!!! Yes, Dr. sunshine resurrected Cotards to not have to deal with the pain of forever losing him, and when that didnt (seem to) work, he tried fusing him (parts of his mind to be specific) with someone else, however accidentally fusing 3 other people in the process.

Physical features!!! Dr. Sunshine has that Iconic coat i always draw him in, but since there may be other people who read to the end of this, Dr. sunshine has a white doctors/lab coat with many stripes and patterns on it, with (human) eyes on one sleeve. Dr. Sunshine also has a Third eye, and markings/abnormalities covering his body. Dr. Sunshine may or may not be already dead, Its hard to tell as to how many times hes died. Lastly Dr. Sunshine's pronouns are He/him, and hes Bisexual.

omg number one is definitely frankie! them being canonically nonbinary and sapphic is SO important to me as a nonbinary lesbian! they are also just silly and fun !!!<-- i also just relate to them a lot in general. i also really love cleo in this gen i think shes so funny, also twyla is super cute and canonically autistic which is fucking awesome!

5. Is there a line or idea for a line that you'd like to see in a G3 release?

ough this is a hard one!! i'd actually love to see more interactive stuff, like the ghoul's alive dolls or playsets like lagoona's hydration station or astranova's floating doll!!! OR THE CREATE A MONSTER DOLLS!!!!!! especially since this gen is doing more with the doll's body types, having a doll you could customize would be so so cool. even if it was a preexisting character doll that had like color changing hair or you could color on them or something!!

14. You have been given the chance to design the G3 version of one G1-introduced character. Who do you choose?

i think g3 would be good to explore the fact that she was adopted by cupid and was born a bone elemental, and explore how her powers of love with the bow work!! she'd obviously still have her radio show, maybe it would be like a podcast/ she'd focus in music or something!! and it could be interesting if while shes invested in everyones love life, she could be aromantic or just not interested in something like that for herself!!

Baby Bones is the name of my original story involving these creatures!

the story goes that the earth is lived on by two types of people; Walkers, and Monsters. God made them as siblings to share the world with, and they are equals. Walkers and Monsters developed their own ways of living, communicating, and even language, but they are equals in all regards.

the way they differentiate the walkers and monsters is that Monsters lack bones in their body, they typically walk on multiple sets of legs or none at all (but there are cases of two-legged monsters), and they all reproduce/give birth by consuming each other

the story of Baby Bones is that Chaos, an Ulnar Manipulator, flees with her wife Reverb, a Nerve Farm, after she ate a Monster in hopes of becoming pregnant. Now Chaos wants to find her a safe place to give birth away from their people who want to stop it.

These terms are a bit vague in this universe, but a good summary is such:

Walkers, the two-legged siblings of Monsters, reproduce by cultivating nerves from Nerve Farms, people who's bodies naturally construct and create immense amount of nerves within their bodies. The Ulnar Manipulators are people capable of forming and making bones, where they will then construct a child of nerves and bones and a Basket will incubate them until the nerves and bones form a child inside of them, and another Walker can be born

Basketing = a selected Walker will consume the bones and nerves and become pregnant, and will spend nine months being cared for and looked after as the baby develops inside of them

Ulnar Manipulator = people either born with or taught the ability to create bones, whether it's because their body creates an abundance of bone marrow or they learn to create it themselves from the natural world

Nerve Farm = people born with the ability to rapidly create an abundance of nerves within their body, they are ''farmed'' for these nerves to create more children and for their health

Reverb consumed a Monster because Nerve Farms aren't able to be Baskets, so instead she looks to how Monsters reproduce and decides to consume a Monster to have a child like they do. Chaos takes her away from their town and off to a safe place for her to have this Monster child, as the town they live in do everything in their power to make sure this does not happen.

''Baby Bones'' is what i call the style i have for these characters, which has a rulebook i follow. just drawing any sort of blob with a head does not a baby bones make, so whenever i use this style i call it ''baby bones'' cause its following a specific set of characteristics i give it. my own persona is also a baby bones character!

ive also begun drawing fanart in the style, but i try to steer away from it because i worry about it being unappealing to others and dont want to draw fanart in the style and have people see it in the tags and be mean to me about it/get weird vibes about me from it

the style and design of the monsters are not meant to invoke a sense of ''strangeness'' or ''fear'', i in fact want to use them to make art helping people question why they see certain things as strange/offputting and how the depiction of bodies in our art influences us even with the ''inhuman'', but mostly baby bones is just a little personal thing that i enjoy drawing in and find it very fun and relaxing :]
