which gives me an oc idea; a bug reader, either insect or spider, i can see it either way.. actually im getting a lot of oc ideas for TADC, maybe ill draw some of them (likely not)

Ok gang I needed to step in I can't take this anymore. The recent Warrior Cats covers and field guide art have been driving me nuts and when this cover dropped something inside me just snapped are you happy Erins I finally did proper fan art of your furry soap opera are you happy now. I used to really like the new artists covers I was his number one defender but now I,m just genuinely concerned if they're giving him any time. Here's a ramble of my thought process if yall are into that: I see a lot of the time with people redesigning covers that they take a completely formula to the actual books and illustrate an actual scene. I love these but I have absolutely no idea what goes on in this arc so I would have to keep to the floating head formula. Since there's no official design for Moonpaw yet either I kept the characters the same (i would possibly have replaced Crowfeather with Moonpaw although looking back having Crow there for "the elders quest" might fit more). I myself have no designs for Leaf, Tawny or Crow so i just slapped on whatever. I did have the thought to reference The apprentices quest cover at one point, as I feel like this arc will just be full of references (Following a "friend since arc one", recycled plot points, the book being called the elders quest.. If they call a book "Out of the wild" you all owe me one million dollars/hj) but uhm that was boring and i had a different idea anyway :3 I wanted to put a spin on the usual floating head formula (literally)(I just made it profile instead of front facing) and i would like to imagine the rest of the books in this arc would follow this formula with a different character each time. I originally wanted to keep the blue colour scheme, but it was not giving gang im sorry. I can only shade with purples and yellows forgive me. The excuse i realised i could make half way through is that a sunset fits the name "changing skies" way better that a blue gradient. THE SKY IS LITERALLY CHANGING ITS RIGHT THERE. I also added the faint stars in the sky as reference to the problems with connecting to starclan tee hee. I was originally going to draw Leafstar blind but decided against it as i dont know how she loses her vision and I dont like drawing blind characters with milky eyes when its not accurate... I compensated by obscuring her pupil with a sparkle because she deserves to feel pretty Yeah i think thats it Obligatory Polish cover appreciation moment:

Note: All of these are my personal headcanons... Gonna write some kitty headcanons under too because I am silly like that and cringe culture is dead :3

1. Kitty (Herr) Knock!

Here is kitty Knock headcanons!

I'd imagine him to be an orange ragdoll cat!! Orange cats are generally known from what I've seen for being peculiar little guys, so I thought that would fit Knock very nicely for being out of the ordinary and silly. I honestly chose the ragdoll because of the fluffy appearance of their fur but reading into it, they can be affectionate and friendly too. And they love belly rubs. Perhaps he is a friendly cat who originally wanted attention and love for people but after being shunned for being abnormal, he gave up.

Ragdolls are intelligent too, whilst orange cats are known for the opposite. I reckon that Knock seems unintelligent with some of the things he does (getting stuck in high places, running into things etc.) But he is actually quite a smart cat in reality.

He's definitely a stray cat who was abandoned at some point on the streets and had to survive on his own until finding Orlok </3 Poor guy

He likes smaller animals, especially rats. The ones cats are meant to kill, Knock does not. He refuses to.

He is quite an old kitty (hence the gray fur parts), but he's still full of life!

He's also extra mischievous. I reckon >:3

Hes very dirty, his furr is matted and he also has fleas because he hasnt been groomed :(

Kitty (Count) Orlok

Note: For kitty Orlok, I wanted him to have light gray skin but it was too late when I realised the gray was way darker than I wanted it to be :( I have new pens coming in a few days so I can redo Orlok

But anyways, kitty Orlok headcanons;

But yeah, I think Orlok to be a Sphynx cat. Ive heard others talk about how unappealing and somewhat creepy Sphynx cats look (honestly, how dare they >:[) and I think it's sorta the way a supernatural vampire like a creature would be viewed. Despite all this, Sphynx cats for their loyal and intelligent, which I imagine could be overlooked when seeing kitty Orlok. (You can probably guess who he's loyal to)

I also intentionally made him extra spooky looking too. He has lifeless white eyes and sharp claws, with lots of wrinkles and a tall, lanky stature to catch the creepy aura. I also imagine he can make himself look taller willingly in order to look extra terrifying when he needs or wants to be feared.

Kinda messed it up a little too but dark purple collar. I didnt know what to put for the little tag so diamond shape because hes extra fancy like that.

Hes always been a stray cat, getting used to being alone since he was a mere kitten. He doesn't really get visitors often so imagine his surprise when a peculiar occurance is present and a specific orange cat finds and befriends him.

Despite Sphynx cats having an affectionate nature, Orlok isn't really the most affectionate cat at all. He can be quite violent, which pulls most people away in itself.

Kitty Ellen (Hutter)!

Last but not least, Kitty Ellen headcanons!

I honestly dont know why I chose the Scottish fold. Just saw some photos and for some reason went "Fuck yeah, Ellen!!"

Unlike the other two, Id imagine Ellen to actually have a pet owner who possibly has both Thomas and Ellen living in the house.

No doubt she'd be spoiled to death, with a fancy pretty collar and a fancy little tag to go with it.

She likes watching birds outside the window because I said so >:]

Even though she has the chance to go outside like Id imagine Thomas to do, Ellen actually feels more comfortable just lounging around in the house and just doing cat things. Sure she will explore outside sometimes but she doesn't bother with it too much.

Shes a friendly affectionate cat who likes attention sometimes.

Yeah I dont have as many headcanons for Ellen as I do the other two surprising

i am constantly changing what i imagine her childhood to be like but umm. i think most of her earliest memories would be related to her sister... She has a younger sister btw i mentioned that ages ago LOL but in case anyone was unawares. they arent at all close but i think as a kid when she got a baby sibling i think she was really hoping that that person would be like. the same as her if that makes sense. bc scientist feels a rly deep divide between her and other people so i think as a kid she wouldve been super excited that maybe her sister would be the same way. but then as they grew older and her sister grew into her own person with a personality scientist realized that the disconnect was there with her as well. yk... um yeah this kind of just became a tangent JBJKDAKJ but for a semisweet answer i imagine as a young kid (maybe like 5-7) scientist wouldve spent a lot of time with her sister so maybe her earliest memory would be just them getting into trouble or something :]

depending on where in the story yes . the thing is i think she represses so much shit that like... all of her desires are sort of repressed JBADJBNWDKL. i think she rly doesnt want to be alone and she rly wants to find somebody else like her. but that desire is just too strong and built up for so long that she sort of like. forgets that thats what shes looking for bc shes just decided its impossible. is this guy ever not just like. generally amused with anything that happens. obvious answer is like. cadaver shines when it gets ANY attention positive or negative. its kind of like an opposite of scientist where she like. brushes off any sort of interaction or connection that isnt "the right one" to the point where she loses any opportunity for like. semi imperfect connection. cadavers the opposite of that where literally any interaction works bc it just craves it so deeply. basically guys weird and is RLY into humans. umm on a less introspective note cadaver drinks a lot of coffee in my imagination. and it makes its own little fancy coffee w/ like. syrups and whipped cream and stuff. and it offers it to scientist and shes like... anyways

He is 22 years old and 171 cm tall and unfortunately, all of his family members and friends are taller than him so gets teased a lot, imagine Edward Elric lol. He has a pact with the titan of time so hes able to use time based magic. Scott always spoke fondly of Cassie, so when you started to date, you were under no illusion of what you were getting in for. He loved his daughter dearly and wanted to do more for her, and you were fully supportive of that. You imagined when he told you of his ex-wife that you would end up hating her but actually you liked Maggie and you understood why her relationship with Scott didn’t work out, you appreciated the honesty she had about it and the lack of bitterness between the two of them.

As soon as you met Cassie, you were wrapped around her little figure. You weren’t trying to be a mum to her, you were trying to be whatever she wanted you to be; mainly just a safe adult that would make sure she stayed happy and healthy.

Scott didn’t get to see her as much as he liked, but when the two of you did have her, you made the most of it. He had a Saturday with her, so you had bought the three of you tickets to the fun fair that had come into town and you knew they were both beyond excited to spend the day there.

You went on a couple of rides before you stopped for some candyfloss and moved onto the booths with intricate tasks to win overpriced prizes. As you passed a stool with dartboards, you noticed Cassie’s eyes widen at the sight of the prize.

“Do you want to try and win the giant rainbow hippo?” You offered.

Her head began to nod at a rate you didn’t realise was human. You handed over two dollars to the man who handed Cassie the three darts and explained how many points she needed to win to win each size of prize. She poked out her tongue as she threw the three darts, two of which hit the board. She let out a sigh but smiled to the man as she made her choice of a small purple bear on a keychain.

Scott practically puffed out his chest as he stepped forward, thrusting more money at the man.

“Let me win it for you,” he grinned, very assure of himself.

He threw his darts but managed to score lower than his daughter, reluctantly taking the purple cat keychain to hand to Cassie. Scott exchanged more money for more darts but didn’t do any better. He tried a few times, collating a rainbow menagerie of keychains for Cassie to juggle, unable to land anything better than his daughter had.

“Dad,” Cassie smiled softly. “I don’t mind, look how many of these I have, they are better than the big one anyway.”

It might have been easier if his daughter had thrown a strop, it may have justified his persistence for the toy that was worth less than the money that he had already spent.

“I want you to get the one you want,” he grunted, throwing his last dart again, once more failing.

Cassie let out a sigh, not knowing what else to say to convince him that she would still be happy without the toy.

You gently touched your boyfriend’s arm to try and draw his attention from the dartboard.

“How about I have one try? Then we’ve all had a go, and then we can call this an end of this booth, and move your machismo onto hook a duck.”

Scott was reluctant but seeing the pleading eyes of his daughter, he accepted the deal. You handed over the last two dollars in exchange for three darts.

You carefully threw the three darts, each hitting the mark you had been aiming for. Neither of your companions had expected such a thing to happen but you could see the joy in Cassie’s eyes as the rainbow hippo was handed over to you.

“H-how?” Scott spluttered.

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me Scotty,” you grinned, thrusting the giant plush toy into his chest, finally leading the three of you away from the booth.

January: i didn’t draw anything complete that month.... closest thing i could find to finished is this art i made of my OC, Angelord. man. remember when i drew my OCs? [2023 note: it's..... funny you say that. you would try to start up an original comic for the entirety of next year.... not that it ever came to fruition.]

February: i finished Link’s Awakening that month. i drew Marin bc i thought she was cute. i wish i could get motivated to draw fanart of recent video games i finished more... this is probably the last proper traditional art i made this year... after this, it’s mostly digital.

March: look. i’m attempting anatomy... and i failed lol. i remember being like “how do you draw woman” after drawing this... i mean. i still wanna know how to draw woman, so i guess i haven’t changed lol. [2023 note: I STILL DONT KNOW HOW TO DRAW WOMEN]

April: wait NVM here’s another traditional piece i made this year. he was an adoptable i made... but nobody was interested in them so he’s with me for now. i’ll try and redesign them, either to sell them or to keep him. [2023 note: i never sold this guy.... i was lazy and nobody values points these days. probs for the best because scamming children with virtual coins is probably not a good idea lmao. at the same time, i wish there was an easy way to buy and sell designs+commissions without having to get a credit card or paypal or something.]

December: best art of this year so far (doh) nothing to say. just... happy that i improved. can’t wait to improve even more.

on the debate of ai art

i am a super duper easygoing person to the point where i am the essence of neutrality in nearly all arguments. with the rise of ai art i mostly just listened while others fought against it, but i think id like to share my honest opinion that no one will read but idec

i dont necessarily think ai art generators are bad at all. its fun to use it like if you take a picture of yourself and make it an anime girl, like thats hilarious! me and my friends have messed around using that before and its not bad at all. so i think the thing thats awful about ai art isnt the generator itself, but the user

people will “create” works on ai generators and claim they made it themselves, which is what is wrong in this debate. its similar to what tracing and recoloring is in the art community, its just taking credit for something you didnt make. a quote a moot of mine said once was “everyone wants to be an artist, but no one wants to make the art anymore”. people are doing things to receive praise, clout, money, etc by being the artist, but theyre not going to sit there and make the art. its really sad.

the definition of art on the google dictionary is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power”. i love this definition! art is essentially humans expressing themselves. i think of old renaissance paintings, where old painters expressed their melancholy and religious beliefs, but also in the art i create, where i express my love for my friends/medias i am into by drawing characters for them. in ai art, this sense of soul is lost. people are not creating anymore, theyre taking. and thats what causes ai art to be bad.

on top of that, ive heard that some ai generators are stealing anime arts from online, and i can see this as a problem. in my opinion, this isnt as bad as the soul being taken out of art, but a lot of people are unhappy about this which is very understandable.

i think it all depends on your perspective really and it can be opinionated. i wont judge you in the slightest if you use ai generators sometimes, but if you claim it to be your creation when in fact it shows no sign of simple human expression, please go away. id rather you personally draw the ugliest cat drawing in the world than you “create” the most beautiful ai painting

I've been drawing since i was a kid - as my grandma likes to tell it i would sit quietly at the card table next to her and make her draw with me because "everyone can draw, grandma". Sometime around high school i got it into my head that i needed a 'class' to understand anatomy, as if it was just this magical thing i would suddenly understand. (college was useless) The truth is i didnt start getting better until recently, when i gave up trying to 'learn' anatomy and just started studying bodies. That sounds weird, but i don't know how else to describe it? If someone told me ages ago that i could learn anatomy the same way i self-disciplined myself into being able to pull out computer science concepts at the drop of the hat, i feel like i wouldn't have wasted so much time but anyway...

(with one exception that i still like which is a poster on sasha bees' wall hey bees if you're reading this) 2016 ish.

THEN 2017 i lost my job, moved away from pittsburgh, missed my DJ friends, watched a documentary on netflix about st*ve aoki (after watching everything vaguely DJ related on the streaming service lol), and the aoki drawing era begins: freebooter4ever.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/steve%20aoki. I joke that the way I learned anatomy was by becoming obsessed with a DJ who contorts himself into very strange positions and has photographers that take photos of him from LITERALLY every angle and who tends to walk around half naked an unusually large amount of time but like...that's literally what happened. Not that im saying you have to start drawing half naked DJ's...just find a subject you dont mind drawing hours of studies from and it makes it a lot easier.

When I'm doing 'studies' I tend to do two separate drawings. Initially I literally just 'study' what I'm looking at - I put it in photoshop and trace the lines that I see. I don't OUTLINE it, there is a huge difference. A lot of times the lines that stand out are not the outlines but rather a dominant shadow or sharp edge. After I feel like I've got a good handle on it, I do another drawing of the pose freehand. Then I take the original photo and put it underneath that drawing and check where I've messed up. If I'm completely off I throw it away and start again, lol. If there's a few errors I fix them. More and more lately I find that the freehand drawing is fairly accurate with anatomy unless it's an unusual or challenging perspective. Those study drawings rarely see the light of day. I just delete them when I'm done because i didn't have an...aim...? For the drawing. They just were to learn.

The doodles that I post on here? Some of the simpler ones are practice sketches from gifs - i will have a gif running next to my drawing and will try to draw what i see, freehand. Some of the more complicated drawings/portraits are from photos - but there's usually something i see in the photo that i want to convey? Like light? or a specific part of anatomy? I dunno, i make shit up as i go.

AND THEN there's my favorite, when i have done all this practice and i can do shit like drawing characters from my imagination. Like kenny hugging his cat. These don't have any reference - im just relying on my memory of anatomy i've drawn in the past.

I dunno. Dont let bad anatomy get you down, just keep trying. My anatomy hero - a sculptor ethan idolized and i idolize by default - even said himself that he doesn't feel like an 'expert', and he's in his 40's and has been doing this shit for decades. Just draw!!! The more you do it, the more you'll start to see what you like, and how you can make it how you like even more. I still think my anatomy is bad, im still embarrassed by it. But i also know i've gotten better because i can see it now.

ANYWAY this is long, im exhausted, i have to go to bed now :) and i was serious about scheduling an abs livestream. Maybe this weekend if im ambitious.

if it was possible to organize an asoiaf map and actually have enough animators to make one, what song or other audio would you want used? i’ve always thought an agot map to house of the rising sun would be very slayful

ooo good question! I've actually been thinking about this kind of a lot so *rubs my little hands together*

ok so first of all we gotta be a bit realistic about the fandom's capabilites lol (yes this is all hypothetical but I like to delude myself imagine something actuall doable) so right away full animation is off the table bc ideally I'd want it to be accessible to as many people as possible and there's so many great artists in this fandom who aren't animators.

I think my ideal is pmv style since then it's just a matter knowing how to separate layers to tween them and that's a lot easier to do than frame by frame animation (also some minor tweening goes a long way to not make the thing look like a wmm slideshow lmao)

Also it should probably be something...all encompassing? like not focusing on a specific character is what I mean. Maybe focusing on just one book at most damn i gotta give up my 7 minute preston greenfield map 😔

SO with all that, gotta pick something that fits both :]

Willow tree march gives me agot-asos vibes, I actually had a pretty solid animatic idea for this one but. I have too many projects already there's no way I could do it on my own rip

Dust bowl dance is another one I think could fit acok-asos, I dont have as much of a clear vision for this one but it's definitely got the vibe imo

You doesn't really have much of an asoiaf vibe but I think it could work in a "pick a bit to draw your favorite angsty moment with" lol. also it's very slow paced so perfect for subtle tweening haha

King and lionheart also has those asoiaf vibes but idk how well it could work as a map, especially with limited animation bc it gets pretty intense. a lot of of monsters and men's songs in general have asoiaf vibes i thing so idk maybe one of those

uhhh kind of drawing a blank rn these are the only ones I can think of if anyone has any suggestions i'd love to hear them 👀 if nothing else just to find new music lol
