I put together a little "tutorial", but I just break it down into segments as close to the reference as possible, then as long as the generic "segments" are visible, you can mess them up with bending/swishing/swooshing/drooping/etc. as much as you want!

That's pretty much it (and practice, and fearlessness). Let me know if you need me to elaborate on anything!

Ta da! It's not a whole set of doodles, but this ink drawing of Goku doing a spirit bomb certainly took the whole page! It was so much fun to draw Goku again, and I had a blast doing the inking this time! I even felt more confident in using my brush pens. ☺️🧡🐲

I remember that when I was a young teen, I wanted to learn to draw because I loved the anime Dragon Ball Z so much. So, I found an old promotional poster for the DBZ DVD collection of Goku doing the Kamehameha on a random movie and painstakingly taking hours to get it right in a very crumbled lined paper.

So, with Daima airing, I just had to draw Goku once more as seeing him in anime again brought back so many good memories of my childhood. That's why, although it's a little late, I'm glad to pay my respects to Akira Toriyama by drawing Goku cause he not only inspired me to draw, but his character has always served as a role model for me while growing up.

I am very happy that I drew Goku as it almost felt like I was greeting my dear and precious friend after a long time... <3

𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥/𝐙 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞

Because I always love the humans from db going to dbz who have no insane powers & still willing to fight. So bringing back an old background for Laura in this verse; she's a martial artist from another rival school (crane and turtle, but her master is in his own rivalry with crane's master - who is just fixated on roshi, and looks at them as inferior). It's the rabbit school based on the Jade Rabbit/Moon Rabbit - it’s a rabbit that lives on the moon. It accompanies the moon goddess Chang’e and produces the elixir of life by pounding medicinal herbs.

This school specialises in endurance, using froms of "reiki" (it's gonna be explored differently for this) to heal themselves during combat, recover from fatigue quickly as well as draw out fights longer, waiting for their opponents to become tired before striking -- this also means they have to specialise in evation for this to work on strong opponents, as they are primarily weaker. Baguazhang is their primary form of martial arts. They use palms, legs and elbows for striking, infusing energy into each - also, fingers, when striking specific parts of the body to render them useless, and they study the human body intensely in order to strike accurately; they are not allowed to target organs or anywhere that might cause severe damage or death (Laura gets carried away if she gets enraged, which leads to her master scolding her heavily when he sees her attempt this). Mercenary Tao uses Pressure Point Attack and it's very similar to what they use, but I am taking it yoink.

Laura, in this verse, is from Germany, but moved in order to learn martial arts at a young age, and became the star pupil of the Rabbit House.

Dragon ball Z timeline -- is more background, but she is training to make these abilities more deadly for opponents they have to face. She knows how to fly like the rest, and has incooperate her skills into blast waves and defense (so, so similar to the hyuuga clan, who's fighting is based on forms of Baguazhang - and the eyes as well, Laura's turn a brighter white and she is able to examine someone's anatomy / can see through objects).

She is closer to the cast in dragon ball then the others in Z. Definitely still has a grudge against Tien because of their schools. Still pisses everyone off with her attitude.

I love how the dubbed version of the DR anime made a reference to DB with Mondo and Taka. Like. 1) Does that mean they're both DB fans? If so that's so funny to me. 2) It's EXTRA funny with Mondo saying "You're over 9,000!!" because Chris Sabat (Mondo's VA in the anime) plays Vegeta in Dragon Ball. Not the Vegeta that said it, but he still plays Vegeta and Vegeta says that line when he gets asked about Goku's power level. So it's just funny to me. (I see you, Funimation 👁👁)

Watching Yamcha try to convince the rest of his friends that Jackie Chun is Master Roshi is just hilarious. They're all so oblivious.

It reminds me of Buffy season 5 where Spike tries to convince the gang that Ben is Glory. Although they had the excuse of a spell cast over them to avoid people knowing the truth.

Goku, Bulma, Krillin and the rest had no excuses.

working with kids for almost a decade and wanting to be animation industry is interesting cause I remember kids talking about cartoons like teen titans go, SpongeBob, Steven universe, or gumball but now kids don't watch cartoons..... they watch anime demon slayer mostly clips or amvs on YouTube..... mostly kids watch YouTube why skibidi toilet blew up and digital circus but yeah kids don't watch cartoons on tv nor streaming anymore besides bluey that's only survivor I feel its smart writing but its 11 minutes long.... anyway yeah rip long form cartoon most of my kids don't know what owl house moon girl or whatever new cartoon is airing rn rip
