just saw people fight in a youtube comments section about the best and more valid reason to like Dragon Ball, there was the "i'm better because i like fights and violence" side and the "huuuh friendship, romance and family moments are better actually" one, and i'm like... what the fuck guys. that's the cool thing with Dragon Ball. there's no better Dragon Ball side. who cares. Dragon Ball is great because there are 10 hours/150 pages long fights and then scenes where Gokū is cute with his sons, that's it, that's the whole thing

#the story is fine without him but clearly he had a lot of potential and he could have had an amazing character arc#i mean. he's the hero's big brother that tried to kill him#there was sooooo many things to do with their relationships for example#or even just for his character. he could have had a nice arc. becoming better and shit like tha#brothers (or sisters) stories are always the best#they could have done something amazing with gokū and his brother#especially since this brother started as a vilain#so i voted the first option even though the story still is fine without him#where are the good fan mangas with him?

Anyway, stupid ass argument, even if Toriyama reckoned his own lore all the time, it just means that the newest version he created is the canon one lol.
The anime isn’t the true canon when in comes to Dragon Ball in general, because the manga is the original source material, but the japanese version is the only valid and canon version of the anime because it's the original one. Just like GT isn’t canon in the Dragon Ball universe, but the japanese version of GT is the only valid version of it. The dub will never be as valid (and good) as the og version because it's... not the og version. As simple as that.
"Which one is the only real, valid and canon version to you" the one that Toriyama said was canon. There is nothing complicated.
Anyway, dub watchers are fake fans and I am a proud purist ❤️
