A Promise of Things to Come
disclaimer: I am still technically in Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3, because I am playing on xbox and am one of the unfortunate people to have experienced a total wipe of my saves. I've been careful about using cross-save and that has worked for the most part but it had a hiccup the other day so I am currently just waiting for a fix and not risking my 50+ hours into Mia's file. Anywho, here's Mia talking to the devil after saving the Grove because I'm a dumb bitch with terrible taste, I will never change, I will never improve, that is a promise
The sounds of the party gradually faded into the nightsong of crickets and wind through the trees as Mia made her way closer to the forest; the gentle rush of the nearby river grew more prominent, but it melded into the chirps and rustling of leaves, creating a soothing rhythm that urged her feet ever-forward.
It had been days since Mia had felt any sense of peace, and she knew she couldn’t stray too far from camp, lest she lose the protection of the prism — but the night wouldn’t last forever. She intended to find at least a bit of solitude before it was over.
The tieflings were fine people, but she’d felt more than a bit ill at their profuse thanks for ‘rescuing’ them. Mia hadn’t set out to do anything so selfless. She’d needed Halsin for a potential cure, and he’d wanted the goblin leaders dead, so she’d killed them. It was simple math, but the idea of explaining it to anyone left a pit in her stomach, so she’d swallowed the feeling and plastered on a sweet smile as everyone thanked her for being so courageous.
She shivered, pulling the shawl around her shoulders closer. Initially, she’d cursed the mind flayers for abducting her in such a state — in her short summer nightgown and heavy shawl, no robes to speak of — but to have even a small comfort in such dire times seemed a blessing now.
Suddenly, there was a shimmer in the air, and the faint smell of sulfur. Mia tensed, waiting for the hot flash of light that preceded the appearance of a devil, but as he materialized before her, she let out a small sigh of relief. Raphael. Not a concern, especially not if he was just showing up before her, rather than the group.
“Cold?” he asked, arching an eyebrow as he glanced down at her nightwear. “Not surprising, given your ensemble.”
Mia barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes. “No, actually. Not now that you’ve shown up.”
Raphael started to smirk, very slowly, and Mia let out a huff.
“I didn’t mean it like that. I meant because,” she paused, waving her free hand in a vague circular motion, “you carry the fires of Avernus, or…something like that.”
He hummed, clearly not convinced, and once more looked Mia up and down. The hem of her nightgown only reached halfway down her thighs, revealing more than a few small patches of warped and discolored skin — burn scars, he was certain. Not as extensive as the one that nearly covered the entire left side of her face, but similar enough in color. “You know, you really shouldn’t wander into the woods alone like this. All manner of beasts prowl the night.”
“Like devils?” Mia asked in a deadpan tone, her face just as impassive. Her blind left eye made the expression more severe, somehow, though there was something bright burning behind her right eye as well, the brown prominent against white.
“I was thinking more along the lines of wolves, gnolls, owlbears, that sort of thing,” Raphael said with a flourish of his hand, and then gave her another smirk. “After all, you do look sweet enough to eat.”
Mia looked up at him, dumbfounded. She felt her jaw dropping slowly, but she couldn’t summon the willpower to stop it.
Raphael’s grin relaxed, though it looked no less dangerous for it, and he stepped closer. “It would be a shame to see you ravaged.”
Mia could almost hear something creak in her head as the gears of her mind finally started grinding together — the devil was…flirting with her.
She stood there silent for too long; she could feel the weight of it bearing down on her, drawing the blood to her cheeks and ears, heartbeat thrumming in her fingertips. Finally, she managed to swallow the lump in her throat, and asked, “Did you want something?”
Raphael cocked his eyebrow again. “An interesting moment to ask me that. Alas, a devil’s appetite is never truly sated, but I get the sense you’re still not ready to make a deal.”
Mia made a face. “So what, you came here to try and ‘whittle’ me down?”
Raphael’s grin grew amused. “You were paying attention. Good girl. But no,” he said with a sigh, “as enjoyable as it would be to watch you squirm, I merely thought you could use the company.”
Mia’s expression warped even further, implying that she didn’t believe his words for a second. “I’m sorry, you thought— you saw me leave a party held in my honor, with at least a dozen people clamoring for my attention, and your conclusion was that I was…lonely?”
“Aren’t you?” Raphael asked, and as Mia hesitated to answer, he continued, “Perhaps your tadpole-infected companions might have something in common with you, but the good people of the grove?” He paused, tilting his head slightly as his smirk grew condescending. “Now that I very much doubt.”
“You don’t know me.”
“And neither do they. But at least I want to know the real you.”
Mia’s frown pulled to one side. “Yes, so you can exploit my every fear and coerce me into signing over my soul. Do I look stupid to you?”
With the excuse to consider her appearance again, Raphael lifted a hand to his chin, crossing one leg behind the other. His eyes found the scars on her legs again, and he hummed. “You look as though you’ve poor aim with your spells.”
Mia flushed, and hurried to tug at the hem of her nightgown; her shawl slipped off her left shoulder, revealing a lightning-patterned scar running up her left arm. Raphael’s eyes narrowed while she wasn’t looking, but his features smoothed out again as he once more stepped closer, reaching for the edge of her shawl and tugging it back up.
He lingered there in her space, a thumb still hooked beneath the heavy wool, wondering how much wolf lay hidden beneath her sheep. The thought of her engaging in savagery was a brilliant one, shining like a star, and he inhaled sharply at the bloodsoaked idea. The smell of gin hit him, and he almost passed it off as the forest, but he'd not noticed many pines. It was coming from Mia, he realized, as he looked down and saw her staring straight ahead, at his chest. The blackened fingers of her right hand clutched her shawl closed, and he wondered what type of ice she'd fumbled, to have denied any type of healing. How many times had she hurt herself without leaving scars?
How many times had she hurt others?
She was almost shivering again, so he retracted his hand, only to lean closer.
“I could take it, you know,” he said, his voice dropping to a mere rumble from his chest, one Mia could almost feel with him so close. “The magic.”
She looked up in alarm, but soon her brow lifted, and her wide eyes searched his face for the truth. “You could?”
The desperation in her gaze nearly tore a groan from him; she looked so hopeful, almost trusting. It stoked a fire in his loins and a hunger in his gut, the sensations so heady and overwhelming that he decided right there, even if she somehow figured out a cure for the tadpole, he had to have her.
Mia was his; it had been terribly easy to shift her mind from suspicion to curiosity. It was truly just a matter of time — and how much he wanted to play with his food.
He resisted the impulse to lick his lips, and gave her an almost genuine smile. “Of course. But you’ll need it yet on your journey.”
“Oh. Right,” Mia said, and dropped her gaze, pulling her shawl tight around herself once more. Raphael mourned the loss of her pretty desperation, but smiled privately to himself, envisioning all the chances he would get to pull that look from her. His gaze shifted as he got lost in thought, slipping away from Mia and towards the forest floor.
“Not as sweet as you thought?” she asked, pulling him back to the present. Her mouth was twisted, not quite a frown, but her gaze was still lowered, and she held her shawl close with both hands. “You haven’t even seen the best scars.”
He pondered how to respond for a moment, letting her statement hang in the air, and in the absence of words between them, the chorus of the night grew almost deafening. The summer air seemed thick as velvet as it hung around them, heating the space between them as though there were no space at all.
Finally, he tilted his head, his expression almost serious. “Are you offering to show me?”
“No,” Mia answered too quickly and too loudly, and a rabbit or some other small animal must have gotten spooked by her voice, darting between bushes that rustled and shook with the movement.
An owl hooted, a few frogs joined in with the chirping of the crickets, and the wind picked up, blowing away whatever heat had been building between them.
“In that case,” Raphael finally said, “I’d best be on my way. Do enjoy the rest of your evening.”
He disappeared in a flash, leaving Mia standing alone trying to catch the breath she hadn’t realized was running from her, and wondering why in the world she had a sudden craving for cherries.
#if you're asking why raphael seems overly interested in mia i assure you there is a reason but Spoilers~#bg3#aes: mia noelle#i don't have character tags so i'll just use the aesthetic one lol#the funniest thing about this is that mia flirted with astarion at the party meaning he is just hiding behind the trees somewhere#watching this go down like 'weird vibes here guys'#anyway i am so so interested in what any given character would accept in exchange for their soul and im def going to explore it more w mia#she wouldn't take the deal just to lose her wild magic but it is certainly tempting. she is So Tired.#the tadpole made things so much worse at least at the beginning. loss of control and all that#also i. shouldn't have to explain this but raphael is a bastard. this isnt the open to a love story. mia recognizes the manipulation tactic#i would have gone into her thoughts on that but i ran out of steam

Behold, my ugly sketches! These are random moments from my WIR AU (poorly explained here). I've been feeling a little drained lately, so this is the best I can do at the moment. Though I must admit, working on this silly project has been kind of therapeutic for me. It's not just the act of creating a new character, but King Candy/Turbo in particular is genuinely so much fun to draw (and I think you'll see that for yourself very soon lol).
Also, I cannot fully express how thankful I am for all your nice comments and tags 🥹. They really motivate me to work even harder.
Under the cut I included a bit of an explanation on Luna's character, if you want to read it!
As I said before, her name is Luna and she's been present in the arcade since the '80s.
Knowing that Fix-it Felix Jr. took inspiration from the first Donkey Kong, I wanted to do something similar with another great classic. And I'm a huge Zelda fan, so...
I know the first Zelda game didn't exactly release for the arcade, but the idea was too tempting for me. Later on I discovered Gauntlet, an actual arcade game very similar in concept to what I had in mind. And so I tried to design a character that could belong in an ipotetical adventure game but with a cute, simple aesthetic. I'm definetely no expert when it comes to retro gaming, so I apologize if my design doesn't look very accurate. All I can say is that AT LEAST I tried to make her design believable to the movie.
In her first sketches she looked a lot like Link, and while that could have been considered ok given my goal, I didn't want to simply make a copy. Ralph and Felix are inspired by Donkey Kong and Mario, but they don't look like them. So I tried incorporating new elements that could help distinguishing her more. She became less of a warrior and more of a mage. Her weapon went from being an ultra powerful axe to a magic paintbrush that could also serve as a broom to fly on. I'm still not sure on this one though. I like the concept, but I wonder if it isn't a bit too much.
On the topic of the game itself, I'm still debating a few things, but here's the core idea behind it: I'd like to explore what happens when a game just… isn’t played anymore. At least like it used to in the past. And its characters are are faced with the prospect of losing their home and purpose forever. That's definetely going to be one of the main conflicts of my AU (and the thing that makes Luna's decision to be Turbo/KC's guardian a controversial one - she just made everything worse).
That's all for now. Take care everyone, I'll be back 😈.

Village Map
In my original post I leaned heavy into the metaphor and I saw more than one person in the tags mention that they didn't understand how to participate. So here is a plain language guide in how to navigate and use the different locations for the event!
The Coffee Shop
If you're in the coffee shop, it just means you're looking to strike up a conversation! Make a post to announce what kind of interaction you're looking for! Could be asks, DMs, specific topics or open discussions through reblogs. You can pose a question or just welcome people to start conversations with you. Maybe you're looking to join a discord or make new friends. Just let us know!
The Library
If you're here, you're looking for information and inspiration. Post about what books you're reading or what inspires you. If you need advice or help with research, put out a call to your fellow writers. If you don't need help, just announce what you're working on and give us updates!
The Gym
If you're here, it means you're really working hard on your WIP. Maybe you're doing a run of 15 minute sprints, or taking on a huge word count like writing 1k+ in one sitting. Make a post about what challenge you're taking on and keep us updated so we can cheer you on and join you in the grind!
The Bakery
If you're here, it means you're working on your WIP more casually. You're taking your time, sticking with a regular routine, or writing short ficlets and drabbles. Post about your regular updates and progress, and share snippets and teasers as you see fit!
The Arcade
If you're here, you're just looking to play writeblr games. Make a post announcing you're ready to play and choose your game! You can start your own tags, reblog a bunch of ask games, answer old tags you haven't had a chance to look at, whatever games you want! Don't forget to reply and send something back to anyone who plays with you!
The Spa
If you're here, you're taking a break from writing for a bit. Make a post sharing as much detail as you want, update us on what self care activities you're doing and/or usually do. If you're burnt out, feel free to ask for advice on how to handle it!
The Archive
If you're here, you're looking through your own ideas for inspiration. You're reviewing outlines, re-reading old drafts, looking through old scraps of handwritten notes that aren't even accurate anymore. Post about what you're looking through and how it's helping (or not helping lol).
The Garden
If you're here, you're thinking about your WIP without working on the draft. You’re daydreaming and plotting, creating aesthetics and playlists, keeping your WIP in your mind without writing. Post about your ideas and share your aesthetics, playlists, and extras!
The Lab
If you're here, you're working more on characters and worldbuilding, not so much plot. You're making character sheets and maps and building governments and backstories. Post about your characters and world, share your maps and designs, and help us get to know them!
Things to Remember
If you're comfortable with it, you can always tag me in posts for the village! I'll keep everything on my blog for others to see.
Your post doesn't have to be fancy or detailed! It can be as simple as announcing which area you're in and how well (or not well) it's going.
You can be in multiple places at once or throughout the day! The village is just a fun visual and metaphor, but it doesn't have to limit you. You might drift from the Archive (reviewing old stuff) to the Bakery (drafting new stuff) to the Garden (daydreaming for next time) in under an hour! Keep us updated on your journey!
If you guys have any questions, just reach out! If my ask box is open, shoot me an ask. If it's closed, feel free to reblog or reply to this post or shoot me a DM! I'm always taking recommendations for locations and ways to make the village better!
The main purpose of the event is just to build and circulate the writeblr community. However you want to share your ideas and engage with others is all part of the village!
Happy writing, everyone!

Thoughts on Daggerheart!!
I'll admit I haven't really been following it until today, but after watching the videos released today I got very excited and ended up building a character and reading a lot of the book, as I am wont to do (might post about them later lol).
Now, full disclosure, I wouldn't say I'm all that familiar with the TTRPG space outside of D&D, so take my opinions with a grain of salt. That said, I've played D&D, Wanderhome, Alice is Missing, and the fan-made Hollow Knight TTRPG, and I've watched some AP of Kids on Bikes, Call of Cthulhu, Monsterhearts, and Candela Obscura, which is a longer list than I was expecting. Huh. Anyways, my thoughts!
I really like the duality dice! It's such an interesting way to do mixed success that incorporates story/character into mechanics, which is great.
Related to that, I also like Hope as a fluid resource, and I think that Fear is a nice way to both prompt GM action and to just create a fun sense of dread as the GM takes more tokens
The lack of turn order/action economy is... cool, and a really interesting idea, but my thoughts on this are complicated. As we're seeing in the oneshot right now, it really helps to keep combat as part of the story and give the players and GM room for creativity. (For example, Bunnie describing a counterstrike as part of her dodge, and being able to take it as soon as the GM's turn is over, as well as the tag team feature, which is very cool.) That said, I think this mechanic might not work so well with less experienced or less confident players, who might have trouble taking the initiative (heh) to act in combat (I know I certainly would if I wasn't playing with close friends). That's not really a criticism though -- this is a collaborative storytelling game, and part of playing it is making big moves and taking turns guiding the story. If that's not for you, then you might prefer a different system, which is fine! I think this mechanic has the potential to be really, really dope, but I also think it's the bit that has the most potential to go poorly in my eyes.
The art, design, and general aesthetic feel of this game are so unbelievably up my alley. I love it. That's all.
I'm excited to see that they're working on mechanics for playing disabled characters, but since they aren't out yet I can't really comment. (I did notice that the character in the bard art is in a wheelchair, which is dope.) Also, as others have noted, Daggerheart uses "heritage" and "ancestry" rather than "race", which is a small but good choice.
Personally, I also really like the choice to move away from precise measurements of distance and gold. This one is very much a personal preference, and I know some people will rightfully disagree, but I like it! As a DM, trying to determine the appropriate costs and rewards for things has always been a headache, and this seems much easier to manage; measuring distances with convenient and tangible measurements like the short side of a playing card or the length of a piece of paper also feels much easier to use.
The downtime mechanics are great! Each of the activities you can take prompts you to describe how you heal yourself or another, destress, repair armor, or prepare yourself for what's ahead, which really encourages quieter character moments both introspectively and with others. I'm a big fan of this. This combining of role play and mechanics is also present in other features, such as one of the major level 1 healing abilities, which is more effective if you spend the time it takes to cast learning something new about the person you're healing or sharing something about yourself.
I didn't look at this too closely because I was just making a character for fun and don't have a party to play with, but as part of character creation you're given questions about your relationships to your party members to answer. Wanderhome also has these, and they were MASSIVELY successful in creating depth and meaningful connections between players -- after our table's session zero I was already so invested in all our characters, and when we actually played them they really came to life. I haven't looked to closely at Daggerhearts version of this, but I'm very excited to see them.
The experience mechanic seems really fun and creative, and I especially like the idea of using a phrase rather than something specific. That said, when I played the Hollow Knight TTRPG, which also lets players create their own skills, the open endedness of it was more confusing than inspiring, and there was a lot of potential for a usefulness disparity between players. I do think Daggerheart explains it better, though, and limiting the use of experience with a Hope cost helps to counteract any choices that might be too broad, so hopefully it will work better
I probably have more thoughts, but it getting late and I have a headache, so that's all I'm saying for now :D
Overall, Daggerheart has combined a lot of things I've liked in other games with promising mechanics I haven't seen before, and I'm very excited to try it out. I'm now realizing that I just made a list of things I like without any negative feedback, which isn't what I wanted to do, but I'm not really sure what to criticize without having played it myself.
I'm most curious to see how the non-initiative mechanic works; it has the potential to be a really excellent solve for a major problem in D&D (plenty of people have talked about how initiative limits teamwork, can be boring when its not your turn, etc, so I won't get into it here), but I don't think it's a solution that will work for everyone. Of course, games can't work for everyone, and shouldn't try to. It's working really well on CR's oneshot as I write this, but making choices and sharing spotlight in TTRPGs is literally their job, so I'm not surprised this works for them. I could see this going really well with some tables I've played with, and really poorly with others. I'm still really optimistic, though; it seems like the kind of thing that with the right table could be really excellent.
#you know its not the point of this post but im gonna say it anyways: highly recommend wanderhome#good game; thank you saltzman for recommending it#daggerheart#critical role#table top role playing game#ttrpg

The Mutual Lover Train Because Our Mutuals Deserve Love!
List 5 of yours mutual and a character you ship them with the most and add it in their and random mutual inbox anonymously to see if you're on the list! Don't break the chain or no more bloodborne for you.
Hey, the ask chain told you to send this stuff anonymously, so why are you using the account- ehhhh whatever, should I even bother questioning YOU anymore.. XD
@jarognieva - Ok I am sure someone already did that, but. Micolash lol. Nobody deserves him like she does. I swear this Micolash appreciation and simping is so genuine that I felt inadequate compared to her at least two times XDDD
@fareehaandspaniards - I can't say either Damian or Gremia because she'd clearly rather love to watch them making out from the closet or something LMAO fsdghsdh I mean, this dynamic COULD count as a form of polyship but- well the meme says one character, so guess this will be Gideon! Her simping for him and defending him was so wholesome! tbh she generally loves VERY old men hhfhsdf
^ LOL what do you mean "why there is a beach here now", it is simply aftermath of Faree's favs playing tags fdghfdgsdg xdd sorry I'll stop
@heraldofcrow - I was SUPPOSED to use the joke like "lol considering the recent events, Crow clearly likes WAY more than just one person" but SOMEONE decided to hex me, so now I can't -_- Alright, you plucked chicken, considering the fact you've barely got any time alive left, you can have your slutty boots man Orbeck 🙄
@val-of-the-north - Okay finally this clown will take the damage FOR Crow on that dumb joke because BRO IS REEEEEEALLY INTO YAHAR'GUL HUNTERS, LIKE, SEXUALLY AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! ok ok ok on a serious note though, this is a tough one. He simps for multiple weirdos, but is compatible with almost none of them! However, the one that stood out amongst his multiple gay crushes (and like, 1 female character interest in over a decade hfdshdfs) is PATCHES! Nobody likes him more unironically fdjudshfds
@fantomette22 - I know you've mentioned that you would really love a pretty girl to wear pretty dresses to counter your tomboy+academic aesthetic, but after you kept gnawing me like a rabid dog with a chewtoy over as much as looking in Solaire's direction the wrong way I think you guys are sealed XD Get married fools lol
_________
(ok granted I do have some mutuals who legit crush on a character and self-ship more or less, I am just not sure whether they'd be comfortable with goofing around like these but you guys are valid!)
#ask replies#shitposting#silly#fandomry rambles#(sorta xd)#to think of it I really can't tag anyone else besides those two mutuals in love I know of..#damn I do not discuss simping with my mutuals often enough#just my shyness lol

Oop, hello there! ^^ I remember you from DA, still think your art is so cool!! Still fond of the vintage characters and the world of Tessa n' Val! I'm currently testing the waters on Tumblr lol, hoping to get around a different vibe for documenting my projects n' chatting about stuff I like, and wanted to ask: as someone who's been on Tumblr for a while, what are your main tips for a starting artist in the platform? Wish ya a great day! Stay artful n' creative :]
HI!!!! i remember you too, i always get really excited when artists i like come here. tumblr is the only website i really use for myself and not just to post art, so it means i get to follow them and interact with their art 🥺 i ditched deviantart for everything that isn't posting art and bitching about the website via status updates lmfao, the new inbox and watched deviants tabs are so... out of the way and counter intuitive. hate it there.
anyway, I've written a general tumblr how-to post because there's been so many exoduses (exodi??) from other platforms over the last few years, but I don't think I've ever written one for artists? or at least I can't find it if I did. so here are some hot tips 😎👉👉
NUMBER ONE BIGGEST RULE: if you're an artist and you want to actively gain a following and curate your art, please have a separate art blog where you post exclusively or near exclusively art. it's ok to reblog a post here or there, but tumblr is a website About curating and having specific blogs! it's not that people don't want to see or hear about the artist behind the work, but they don't want 43289 unrelated memes and posts for fandoms they're not in 😅 admittedly i have skipped following some good artists here because their reblogs completely drown out their art and clog my dashboard. people really like curated blogs, almost every artist has a separate art blog 'round these parts. (it's completely fine to post WIPs and text posts discussing your art too, some people would like to see your process!)
speaking of curating: tags are your best friend! tumblr tracks the first 20 tags I believe, so use the first 20 tags to add your important search terms. this is where you put anything you'd want to turn up in the search. really you probably wont have more than 10 of these tags. after that you are welcome to ramble in the tags or use organizational tags for your specific blog.
not sure how to tag? search up what terms you'd use to try to find your own post if you were someone else, and see what tags popular posts in that tag used. you should ALWAYS use the #art and #artists on tumblr tags, as well as any relevant common trigger/content warning tags :D here's how i do it:
FOR FANDOM POSTS: where applicable, I tag Fandom, Fandom Acronym, Featured Characters, Featured Ships, and sometimes #[fandom] fanart and/or #[fandom acronym] fanart. FOR ORIGINAL POSTS: you can tag your art medium (digital art, traditional art, sculpting, etc), the general aesthetic or themes, time periods, and if it features your OCs you can use #oc and their names so if people want to see all your OC content they can find it. admittedly i mostly post fanart so i am very spontaneous with the tags i use on my original art posts lol
4. shorter captions seem to be preferred by the masses, I personally either dump my extra comments in the tags of the original post or I'll put them under a cut. unless it's extremely relevant to the post, like explaining ideas or headcanons
5. have all your handy links in your bio! you can use basic HTML coding to insert links with text and put in line breaks. you should have links to other socials (or something like a carrd that links them for you) and your support streams, like shops and tip jars and patreons. and ofc a little about you and what people can expect to see you draw!
6. have your inbox open! you don't have to take requests, but sometimes someone will throw a brilliant idea at you that you may Coincidentally be inclined to draw. it's also just fun to interact with people who like what you do! sweet comments go a long way
7. last one i can think of - do a seIf-reblog at some point in the day. people live in different timezones and not everybody finishes their dashboard. personally I schedule posts for 12 pm cst and then one seIf-reblog at 8 pm cst. it's also okay to reblog your older artworks for new followers to see, especially if you haven't posted in a while. Writer Q&A | Tag Game
Thank you to @mthollowell-writes for tagging me! 💞You can find their original post here! :)
1) What motivates you to write?
(Stories are like ghosts that haunt my thoughts and writing is the only way to exorcize them) I'm motivated to write the kind of books I want to read + the sort of characters I want to read! Not enough black lesbian girlies in fiction so I gotta do my part by releasing them into the wild 💅🏾
2) A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)
I'll share the first few paragraphs from Little Infernos! Its old + I shared it before but it lives in my head rent free <3
Possession is an impossible skill to grasp. The doctor told her as much. “Think of yourself as a ghost,” he’d said, with a chuckle and a thin-lipped smile. Play pretend. A game to take her mind off the terror of stealing back her body from whatever’s taken it the night before. Remember, start small. The tips of a finger, a big toe, maybe even a whole pinky, if she was feeling so bold. Slip back in, one part at a time. This time, Dante is sprawled out in a bed of Ponderosa pine-needles. Bitter moss and loamy soil weighs down her tongue, pebbles rolling hard behind her throat. Aftertastes of pondweed and eelgrass. A ring of trees loom overhead, peaks fading into a dark and stainless sky. She moves her right index finger first, dragging in a breath of dirt and timberland air as she revels in the prick. Something small. Next is her left finger, then her pinky and middle. Soon, she is grabbing a fistful of earth and leaves and morels, propping herself up on empty arms. Another fight to push herself back into her body. The thin-lipped doctor says it’s sleep paralysis. Her father says it’s demons, the ones which drew her to Beau. Web M.D. also says sleep paralysis, so it must be true.
3) Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?
Hmm Dante from Little Infernos! She just like me fr (in an alternate universe where I'm a little freak who has little freak things happen to her.) Since I focus on my fantasy projects so much I don't often get to explore more contemporary characters. I love Dante because she's the kind of black girl we don't often see in media (shy, quiet, introverted, ✨feral✨) and I get to aspects of myself in her that I can't quite replicate in my fantasy wips.
4) What process of writing do you enjoy the most?
Worldbuilding! I love building out worlds for fantasy projects, and thinking about all the little intricacies that go into developing a fleshed out world. It's super time consuming, and if I don't reign myself in it can become a never-ending process, but it's so much fun regardless.
5) What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)
Hmm I think I'm fairly good at scene/setting descriptions! Ironically enough I do suffer from White Room Syndrome during first drafts because I tend to focus more on dialogue/character interactions, but during editing I think I do well setting scenes + making the worlds I'm writing about feel alive.
6) What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?
I love how friendly and encouraging everyone is! We're all here to write our silly little stories and obsess over our silly little characters together :)
7) A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)
I used to use Scrivener to compile all my worldbuilding notes (personally I don't enjoy drafting in Scrivener lol) BUT I've recently started using Notion and I love it so much! Very easy to use and satisfies my urge to make all my notes ✨aesthetically pleasing✨ Its like having secret wip pages just for myself and I love it sm <3
8) A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)
I love the magic system I've built for A Killing of Kinfolk! Mayhaps one day I'll make a more in depth worldbuilding post but tldr; all living things have magic (Kin) within them, some people can wield Kin while others cannot. A person's magic (regardless if whether or not they can wield it) essentially works like antibodies, protecting from outside sources of magic. Casting/using magic on another person is always going to be a painful, invasive, and if prolonged, deadly process. This makes the most prominent use of Kin, healing magic (Mendwork) extremely difficult. Healers have to work slow and meticulously to ensure they exert enough Kin to heal their patients without too much pain or further harm. There are other schools of magic within AKOK (seedweaving, bonewielding and banework) but Mendwork is by far the most complex and interesting to me. I really liked the idea of a magic system that's actively hostile to its user—a healing magic that hurts just as much. Very fun <3
9) What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?
READ! I feel like this is overused advice but I know all my worst writers block moments come when I haven't read anything in a while. I'm trying to be better about reading regularly and revisiting old favs when I get stuck to inspire me and remind me why I want to write.
10) Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters
I'm continuously inspired by writers such as @coffeeandcalligraphy , @fluoresensitive , @yvesdot & @seasteading, and I have to shout out @aninkwellofnectar , and my beloved @harehearts for being such kind and supportive writeblr friends 💞
I'll no pressure tag: @cuntylittlesalmon , @serenanymph , @thepixiediaries , @meerawrites & @tragicbackstoryenjoyer + anyone who'd like to join in!

AN INTRODUCTION TO ME (plus side blogs/other places you can find me)
Hello everyone! How are you? I'm Arabella, and I love to worldbuild, learn about nature, draw, and a bunch of other stuff. If you have any questions about my worlduilding, let me know! Please keep conversations appropriate (no sexting or asking extremely personal questions). Here there will be reblogs of/art of some stuff you might find disturbing (body horror/gore), but I will label it as such (gore, blood, tw, nsfw, etc). It's part of my worldbuilding as you'll see here over time. But it isn't the only part of my worldbuilding, so don't worry about missing out on much. I do not tolerate any porn so none will be here. I've heard too many stories of people dealing with porn addictions and how debilitating it is, so I'm not even going to chance looking at it, lead alone reblogging it.
Filing system down below v
When I reblog stuff, I'll put it in a file system that is similar to my pinterest pinning system (same titles and such). Here's how it'll go...
(btw if any of these tags are of no interest to you, then feel free to block them)
Art:
Animal reference
Animal pose
Animal behavior
Art reference
Human pose
Guide or Art Guide
Landscape

Ibispaint
Aesthetic/pattern:
It just looks pretty - I like it because it looks nice :)
Storytelling or Cinematic - the way it sends a message is interesting, and I'd like to use it as inspiration
Worldbuilding:
(BTW level 1 animals are animals found irl)
Level 2 - Like irl animals that have one little thing changed about them, like their color or number of eyes.
Level 3 - Mix of 2 or more animals that is hard to distinguish what the original animal is (like a cat/snake mix, was it originally a cat or originally a snake).
Level 4 - A change in the original species causes a majority of people to fear it, like deep fear it. Creepy
Level 5 - Like levels 2-4, but with a horror aspect to it (like snakes that look like intestines).
I've made guides for my leveling system and I'll post them soon, so don't worry if you're confused ;)
Dragons
Elementals
Hybrid
Scene idea - idea for a plot point or fun story in my world

Scenario - meme that describes a scene, and I don't know where else to put it
Food for the funnies - this is where I put the stuff I actually laugh at. Not just a breath out of my nose, but a true laugh.
Derpy - •u•
Fever dream - lol those memes that make no sense or come out of left field
And that's how babies are made - I'm not even going to explain this one lol
Stay flexy - exercise ideas
Cute:
Cute - catch-all for anything adorable :3
Cute animal - specifically cute animals
Cute plant - specifically cute plants
Misc:
Recommend or Recommendation - smth I should check out (to buy or look @ again)
Pins or Enamel pins - enamel pins I like the look of.
Watch later - if I like the look of it but don't have the mental energy to completely peruse it, then I'll put it here.
Ok so that is my filing system lol. I know it's pretty long but I plan on using the references and stuff I find here.
I know I said this before, but I love talking (raging extrovert), so if you wanna chat or dump a writing idea or creature idea on me, then go for it! Heck, my commissions are also open (not getting them done immediately, tho) if you're interested (no guarantee on the quality. Just know I am still learning the fundamentals of art). Anyways, if you're reading this far, then you're one of the real ones (also, what's your favorite color? Mine is blue, but I like them all tbh) 💪. Thanks so much for reading this. I'll have a side blog here shortly where I'll post only my art so that you don't have to go through all my reblogs, lol. Anyways, thanks so much, and have a blessed day <3
P.S. this is my art-only side blog and deviantart. Here, have a mouse 🫴🐁

Author Ask Tag Game
Thank you to @janec23 for tagging me to do this one. Never done it before, but I've seen others do it, and I'm excited to try it myself!
I think I'll do this for my main WIP (as per usual lol) - Steph's Crew.
Gently tagging these guys: @jessicawestonauthor. @winterandwords, @mysticstarlightduck, @tea-and-mercury, @mjparkerwriting
Here are the questions:
What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, and help readers grow as a person?
How many chapters is your story going to have?
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
When and why did you start writing?
Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers on Tumblr do you follow?
Let's do this thing!
What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
I don't know if there's a single main lesson to my story. The characters go through a ton of things, and they learn a lot of different lessons throughout. I will say that they all kind of fall under the same theme/idea... A lot of them learn family and relationship lessons, especially to do with communication and being open to listening to the other person. These lessons also apply to the romantic relationships and the friendship dynamics as well in the story... as well as coming-of-age, high school messages of being true to yourself, peer pressure, sticking up for yourself, standing up for what's right, teamwork, friendship, and blah blah blah etc. You get the gist.
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
Tons of stuff... it's a YA/teen drama, and a lot of it takes place in high school. And I've watched a lot of stuff similar to this... I also started writing this while I was in my final year of sixth form, similar to my characters. I also decided to have it set in North London (and I included a real place - Hampstead Heath. It's a large park, and it's where the characters occasionally meet up). I made up a few places that are inspired by real places, too... or things that I've seen on TV. Like Stevie's and Dave's. Stevie's is a small restaurant/cafe place where Bret sometimes works after school, and it's right next to Dave's - a record store where he also spends a ton of time at (usually with Elise). These two places came from this show that I used to watch all the time growing up - The Next Step. It's about a team of dancers that compete in competitions. But when they aren't dancing, they usually hang out at the cafe/juice bar venue downstairs, which changes every season. Each season's cafe has a completely different vibe... I think Dave's fits the Culture Shock vibe (season 2), since there's a lot more going on, and you could buy records and other cool stuff there as well as snacks and drinks, while Stevie's is more of a Hidalgo's type of place (season 3). And I'm not necessarily inspired by this show (since I only just found it recently) but I thought I'd mention this because I find it cool. I like looking for stuff that fits the vibe of my story, whether that's music, aesthetic mood boards, TV shows, movies, etc. One show that I've found is an old BBC show called "Waterloo Road." It's crazy... it's all about a struggling school in the UK that's full of rebel kids. It focuses a lot of the teachers and staff as well, which is an interesting direction to go. Aside from that, though, it feels similar to the story I'm trying to write myself... well, maybe not as crazy as that (people are dying and getting arrested constantly on that show), but still. Could explain why I've gotten so invested in the show already!
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, and help readers grow as a person?
This is an interesting question... mostly because I don't know if I consciously thought of this while writing my main characters. My main character tends to go with the flow, you know? And so does the rest of her group, to an extent. That being said, they all clearly want something out of life, and they strive towards whatever that is (they're all really different and want different things). They are all students in their final year of high school, so one main goal is to get through the year and achieve the qualifications they need and prepare themselves for the next stage of life (whether that's university, getting a job/apprenticeship or whatever else). But they also want to be happy and have their lives figured out. At the stage of life that they are in, I feel like it's a common goal to kind of find yourself, you know? Learn who you are. In the first instalment of the series, that is the common goal for all the characters in the main crew. But there's also an underlying goal for Steph in particular... her storyline revolves around her former foster family conflict, particularly where it involves her late foster sister Melanie, and her tragic (and somewhat mysterious) death. I don't want to say what the goal is, because it's a huge spoiler. But it's a big deal, and it's an ongoing storyline throughout the series.
How many chapters is your story going to have?
I have no idea. I planned for it to have 20 chapters... it exceeded that limit ages ago. It'll take as long as it'll take.
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
It is original! I don't know how I'm going to put it out, though. I've already posted some of it here (the series of dialogue that I've been doing. Almost done with that btw). I was planning to post some chapters/extracts of it here as well, just to get some feedback from my fellow writers/friends. But I was debating putting the full story either on Wattpad or self-publishing it. 'Cause I feel like I never use my Wattpad account... but I also want to make a real book out of this. I don't know what I'll do just yet.
When and why did you start writing?
I've been writing and making up stories forever, pretty much. I just like getting lost in a made-up world (which is probably why I love to read, too). If we're talking about this story, though - just over a year. I started when I was in a similar stage of life as the characters I was writing (sixth form, last years of secondary school education, sitting mock exams and feeling a ton of pressure), and it was a great way to relax and just de-stress and unwind.
Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers on Tumblr do you follow?
Ooh, I follow a ton of great people... I was actually planning to post a proper list of recommendations. But here are some of my fave writers/mutuals on Tumblr (check these folks out if you haven't already!): @exquisitecrow - one of my first-ever followers! A really talented and underrated writer @thelavenderwriter - full of fun posts and prompts @gummybugg - one of my fave mutuals! Great writer, and a really cool person @jessicawestonauthor - another underrated person @clairelsonao3 - soooo good. Recently started getting into this person's work on ao3! @winterandwords - yet another cool person! Writes a lot of great stuff @jojomills - a really skilled poet @toribookworm22 - another really cool person... they always ask a lot of cool questions for writerblr asks, too @soph1333 - just a fun person. Posts prompts and stuff like that @mysticstarlightduck - ok everyone on this list is just a really cool person lol. This person is no exception. They write a lot of great stuff as well!
There we go! This took me so long to finish lol
I hope you guys enjoy this! This was really fun and interesting to do.

10 Fandoms, 10 characters, 10 tags
Thank you @baepsrae for tagging me!! ♡( ◡‿◡ )
This is everyone's preemptive warning to skip past if you don't want to read a long and rambling post, I'm about to go wild lol. I'll also include the 5 people (not 10 oops) I'm tagging here at the top so they don't have to scroll; I'm interested to hear your answers but obviously there's no pressure to do it (・ω・)b
@koscheiy, @breitzbachbea, @runmild, @toffeeanddragons, and @yatzuaka!
1. Loki (Marvel)
My poor little meow meow. My silly rabbit. My sweet darling babygirl. Picking 9 other characters was honestly hard because there's few I truly consider a favourite like Loki. Between his 2011-2013 appearances in the MCU, the comics, and the pre-Thor high-fantasy-novel-esque fics on AO3, the ideal version of this character lives in my head rent free, and has done since 2012. I picked this gif from The Avengers because it was the moment that made me want to see the film again just for his scenes, and it remains the only film I've seen in cinemas twice. He's quite literally the reason I got Tumblr, for The Avengers fanart, and my very first post was some (bad) fanart of my own haha. While the rest of this list is in no particular order, Loki is absolutely my number one, for all time, always. I could talk about him forever.
2. Evy Carnahan (The Mummy)
I had to choose the scene I got my blog title from. While Loki might be my favourite character, The Mummy is my favourite film. I think I saw it at the exact right time of life when I was a kid in my Ancient Egypt phase, but also far younger than the recommended viewing age the film suggests lol. Ever since then I've rewatched this and the sequel (yes, sequel, singular. I said what I said) more times than I can count and further developed my interest in actual Egyptology. Evy is intelligent and an academic, kindhearted, a little bit clumsy, but uses her knowledge and quick thinking to be an absolute badass and save the day multiple times. I've always wanted to be at least half as cool as her and also marry Rick O'Connell.
3. L (Death Note)
Everyone here is lucky that I got Tumblr after the height of my weeb phase that started in 2008. Death Note was the first manga I ever read and I expected to enjoy it and move on, but as soon as I got to the Lind. L. Taylor event in volume 2 my young mind was blown and I was obsessed. One scene of L outsmarting Light kept me reading manga, got me into anime, introduced me to fanart, was the first fanart I ever drew, introduced me to fanfiction, and years later I would take Japanese classes at uni. L is an amazing example of a morally grey character, wanting justice to prevail but perhaps not for the right reasons, and no matter what it takes to get there.
4. Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 4 Remake)
Okay I'll admit Leon is the first babygirl on the list who is mainly here for aesthetic reasons. I had a passing knowledge of the Resident Evil franchise but never took an interest because military-gun-shooting-series are boring as hell... Until RE4R came out last year and I saw this scene in a playthrough. Where do I sign up for him to do this to my neck. Then I learned Leon's backstory and actually appreciated his character too. He hates and distrusts the US government, he was blackmailed into service for them at 21, he's haunted by being used as their weapon, and he's the most cringe fail man who thinks he's suave when he says "Nighty night, knights" as he's killing sentient suits of armour. I need him.
5. Astarion Ancunín (Baldur's Gate 3)
Ah, a non-human in a high fantasy world, using knife skills and sharp wit to protect himself from a deeply traumatic past, but still good at heart and willing to open up to those who appreciate him for who he is, rather than living up to someone else's standards. Now where have I seen a similar character type before... When the game came out it shouldn't have been a surprise who my favourite would be lol. The whole cast does an amazing job, but the real draw of Astarion is the phenomenal work put in by Neil Newborn to really bring this character to life, and I don't think Astarion would be the same without him.
6. Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha)
Inuyasha is one of my all time favourite anime/manga. It's got time travel, a historic setting, magic, action and adventure, and romance between a human girl and a supernatural being who's down bad. Basically all of the tropes I adore and still look for in new favourite series haha. And Kagome has been That Bitch from the start; arriving in a village that fears a half dog-demon, freeing him from his imprisonment to help her, and then ordering him to sit when he pisses her off, knowing he's wearing a magic necklace that forces him to obey. No one is doing it like her.
7. Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)
Yes this is a basic bitch pick, I'm well aware. But no matter if it's the book by Jane Austen, the 1995 BBC production, or the 2005 film by Joe Wright, I love this story so much! There's just something so romantic about it that no modern romance book can capture, and that's not without my trying to find one (just follow my trail of 1 star ratings on Goodreads). Elizabeth and Mr Darcy just read as complete and real characters, and I love how much Elizabeth cares for her family, refusing Darcy's first proposal in part because he insulted them and tried to separate Jane from Mr Bingley.
8. Lin Sukai (The Drowning Empire Trilogy by Andrea Stewart)
Now we're getting into the realm of books without adaptations so I cant use gifs anymore, and I honestly couldn't find any fanart of Lin either. Which is a crime! My girl is out here being extremely intelligent and driven (and badass in some of the later scenes), using her familial magic as daughter of the Emperor to try and dismantle his tyranny despite craving his approval, and trying her best to gain allies even though she was raised within the walls of the palace and is slightly out of touch, and she doesn't have a fandom here on Tumblr? And that's only in book one of the trilogy!
9. FitzChivalry Farseer (The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb)
I haven't even finished The Realm of the Elderlings yet (16 thick ass books, nay, tomes) but I already know this is my favourite fantasy series of all time, and Robin Hobb is beyond doubt a master of her craft. One of her main talents is writing the ultimate poor little meow meow because good lord, Fitz just cannot catch a break no matter what he does or who he's trying to benefit. The pacing of these books can be quite slow but I promise it's always worth the emotionally devastating pay off. (It's also a tough call between Fitz and The Fool on who my favourite Hobb character is!)
10. Sancia Grado (The Founders Trilogy by Robert Jackson Bennett)
The final one is also my most recent addition to this list, seeing as I'm only just starting book two after finishing Foundryside late last year. While that shows how much I loved Sancia after just one book of her, I also hope the rest of the trilogy delivers! So often books will state characters are masters of their craft and just expect readers to take their word for it, but Sancia gets to show off her skills multiple times on page, so you get the impression she really exists and belongs in this world rather than just being a set piece for it. Not only that, she defies the usual lone-wolf-asshole stereotype that's so common in these gritty fantasy books, and it's heartwarming to see the found family she's gathered by the end of the story compared to where she began.
So uh, thank you all for coming to my TED talk about all my blorbos, see you later!

Whump Challenge
I got tagged by @sasuga-whump to do this great challenge! Ill put it under a readmore bc it's quite long but i had a blast (◡‿◡)
I'll tag @deepwoundsandfadedscars @thatsgonnaleaveamark @set-phasers-to-whump @crash-bump-bring-the-whump @whumpapalooza @whump-side @justwhumpythings @radioactiveartz and anyone who sees this on desktop rather than mobile
1. Favorite whump trope(s)?
I do love anything to do with knives - stabbing, carving, knives to throats, etc. Impaling is up there too, and fractures of all kinds.
2. Least favorite whump trope(s)?
I'm not into dehumanisation in any way, or humiliation, they're squicks in fact. Anything with conditioning is also very much not for me.
3. Top 3 whump scenes and why?
Ohhhhhh good question. Recent faves are:
A scene in Resident Evil: Village where the protagonist is strung up from the ceiling by hooks stabbed through his hands. He then has to free himself by ripping the hooks out, making the wounds worse. Not much in way of consequences because of the game's slasher-horror conventions but very good still
Hard to describe without spoilers lol but in a book i just read, there is a character who's a clairvoyant and can remember things before they happen. When another character wants to hit them with a glass bottle, they experience the pain even though the hit never actually lands - the intention is enough to hurt them. It later gets used to torture them, too. It's very unique and very fun (◡‿◡)
There's a whole sequence in the webcomic Shiloh where a character loses a fight to a mantis-like monster, ends up severely injured and thrown off a cliff into a river. His colleagues find him half-dead and rush him to a hospital.
4. Top 3 characters to whump and why?
I whump my OCs 95% of the time so i don't have many fandom faves lol. I have been enjoying some horror protagonists though - Ethan Winters from Resident Evil and Murphy Pendleton from Silent Hill: Downpour both are very hurtable and get roughed up nicely in their stories.
5. Favorite fandom for whump (show, series, etc)?
Again im not much of a fandom whumper but it's usually whatever im into at the moment - recently Silent Hill
6. Do you prefer written or watchable whump?
Oooh that's hard, i think i lean every so slightly towards watchable. They both have their wonderful parts (◡‿◡)
7. Do you also like hurt/comfort?
Yes! I always prefer the hurt lol but im also very into some good comfort
8. What do you think the difference between hurt/comfort and whump is?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ To me, whump means "the hurt part of hurt/comfort" but tbh the terms are pretty interchangeable to me. H/c is a more well-known term so i find that it tends to end up being used towards more fics, even ones that only feature it briefly.
9. How would you explain whump to someone who’s not familiar with it?
Depending on how familiar with fandom terms they are, i suppose. Either "the hurt in hurt/comfort", or "like angst, but often about the physical side", or "stories where the point is for the characters to get injured". Probably add something about exploration of vulnerability, in case they want a deeper explanation.
10. Is there any old whump you particularly enjoy? (say, pre 2000?)
Hmmmmm im sure there are some Star Wars books ive read that are from the 90s and have some good whump but i genuinely don't remember lol
11. Why do you think you like whump?
Now that's the big question, isn't it lol. There's definitely catharsis there - seeing characters allowed to express their suffering and then having it validated and soothed. It's an outlet for emotion, too, especially anger which i struggle with and can channel in a safe and controlled way onto Fictional Character Stabbings lol. I also just like the aesthetics of the kind of exaggerated violence that whump tends to feature, there's a darkly melodramatic thrill to it that im really drawn to.
12. When did you realize you liked whump?
Literally as early as i remember lol. I was under 6 wishing characters in cartoons would be put into peril, i was always into it
13. Favorite posts with whump (gifsets, picspams, etc)
I do love gifsete with my whole heart, im so constantly in awe of the amazing gifmakers we have in this community bc they let us experience the best of whump from all over the world. I also like prompt posts, @injuryprompts never fails to get my creative gears turning
14. Are you “out” to people in real life?
Absolutely Not lmao and for a bunch of reasons. Mostly because whump is something quite personal to me and wouldn't want it to be misunderstood but at the same time i don't think i could properly explain it. I also don't want people to think it's a sexual thing - which again is something commonly understood in the community but probably not so much outside of it.
15. How did you find the whump community?
I was on one of my periodic searching-for-hurt/comfort-fics sprees when i was reminded of the term by the tags - i've been aware of it as a fandom thing but always forgot about it. Then i had the idea of searching it on tumblr and then it all began lol. I was so stunned to see a whole section of the website so dedicated to it and i can't believe how long i've managed without it (◡‿◡)
16. Any unusual mediums you like for whump (plays, music, vlogs, etc)?
Hmmmmm i very much like video game whump - both actual scenes and just the natural way a character gets beat up throughout the gameplay. An unusal niche of it is, i would say, point-and-click puzzle games. It feels weird because they never have an actual protagonist lol but the plot always involves being trapped, or captive, or escaping, and that just always gets my whump imagination going lol. I like imagining a character for them, scared and injured, struggling to puzzle out their freedom.
17. Any meta about whump you’ve been dying to share?
It's mostly just an observation but im utterly fascinated by the fact that so many people are into whump from very early in life. There was a poll about it going around recently and the most picked answer was "6 and younger" and it just. blows my mind. What a strangely specific thing to be born with. I would love to study this in some way but i wouldn't even know where to start.
18. Whump fic(s) you’d love to see?
There are a bunch of writers here whose fics i would love to see continued but i'm nervous to tag them bc i don't wanna pressure them lol. In general im also always on a lookout for strong platonic friendships in stories and creative magical whump, especially with a horror twist.
19. Whump you’re looking forward to? (Maybe something teased or something you haven’t seen yet?)
I've been reading Witch Hat Atelier and recently there have been theories that some visual symbolism is foreshadowing my favourite character getting hurt in an upcoming fight. I don't want to get my hopes up too much cause it's all guesswork lol but i would very much like that (◡‿◡) Similar thing with Wilde Life, a webcomic, in which the protagonist is currently held at gunpoint - in that story, however, not much injury happens at all lol so again not holding my breath.
20. Top 3 favorite whump fics?
Hhhhhh just three???? i need some kind of bookmark system for real because i can't remember half of the stuff i read lol so these aren't my Top top 3, just things i really like
In The Woods Somewhere by @knivestothroats has to be on here because it's honestly the pinnacle of my writing goals - the flow and pacing are impeccable, it escalates the stakes so smoothly that i put it down, and it's just such a brilliant self-contained story with characters that stick with you and some scenes that i still think about, years since i've read it.
@whumpapalooza 's Space Interns also have a very warm place in my heart bc i just love the characters so much and it's not often that i want whump for Every Single Member Of The Cast but here we are
and most recently i've loved this BHTB fill by @crash-bump-bring-the-whump and its lovely prose and the ability to get me hooked on brand new characters in a single work
21. Tropes you think are overdone?
Conditioned/"broken" whumpees, to me it always seems like the same few tropes and phrases cycled around in new costumes. But i will admit that i also just dislike the trope all in all lol so im not being entirely objective here. Creepy whumpers also usually come off as cheesy, i think, because they always use the same set of kinda stereotypical and, well, overused lines. It seems like it's a go-to "default" whumper for prompts/short fics but imo it's actually very difficult to do well. Just my opinion tho
22. Tropes you think we could use more of?
Hmmmmmmmmm it would be cool to see some cool horror/magic themed whump, with strange creatures and eldritch threats. I'm also always in the market for more unique character dynamics, they can keep even the most basic of tropes fresh.
23. Favorite sites/archives for consuming whump? (question by @dammittmarie )
Honestly just tumblr lol. And ao3 sometimes if i want fanfics since it's very easy to find things there
24. Have your whump preferences changed recently? If so, why? (question by @fyeahvulnerablemen)
I've been leaning more towards horror recently as i get more into the genre! But within it im still into the same kind of whumpees i believe lol even though they're getting less gunfights and more possessions

Helloo so I’m just going around twstd creators blogs to ask this I hope you don’t mind! Anyways can I ask for some advices on how to get attention on your blog? I’m planning on to start a writing blog myself and I’m really nervous 😬 and how do I get as good in writing as you guys…..
hey babes! I recently answered an ask similar to this but I'll write what I know here still
if not a lot then a cute little header with suffice. I think having a visually appealing post / blog that matches with it really helps! I mean, in my opinion those with aesthetics get a lot of attention compared to usual and i myself admit I read ones that look great
only 14 tags work, then the first 4 tag are most important so put the most important tags first (e.g, twst x reader, character x reader) personally I do (twst, twst x reader, twisted wonderland, and twisted wonderland x reader) for first 4 but if it's an individual character post put the character x reader in the first 4
it's quite a slow process? I wrote for twst a few weeks after it's eng translation release but at some point people are gonna recognize your works (from aesthetics as well? I've used the pink, white, heart header for a while lol) if you post consistently!
^ no pressure tho, take your time!!
don't worry babes I wasn't satisfied with my works before too but as they say, practice makes perfect. I've written so much to the point where I'm pretty content with what I do hehe
also it's always nice to go back to your oldest work to your latest and compare them ^^ i kind of do miss my old style cause it was full of emojis and crack 💀
on a side note the reason I learned how to characterize the characters + write neatly was because I read fics religiously and at some point I knew the personality of characters 😭
be confident. don't hide your drafts cause you read through it and think it's bad. that's just the nervous speaking (from experience lol) you might not like it but I assure you many other people will definitely will!
put a read more (:readmore:) when ur post is long cause it's vv annoying to scroll past the next post
reblogs really help. and please do put warnings on ur post. like whether the reader is gendered or not, trigger warnings overall
last one. before making a post, I atleast reccomend testing the tags once. if it pops up in the tag then you're good to go! no need to test everytime
so yeah! i hope that helps. be patient cause you're not gonna get popular in a day. but trust the process. dw it definitely pays off, ur gonna meet a lot of good people on ur way ^^ 💜

PARTICIPATION RULES:
🔻 Any adult "x reader" writer can join, don't worry about following me! Deadline to join is 8/5/2023. Deadline to submit your fic is "end of summer" - August/ September with no hard cutoff!
🔻 Open to all anime / manga fandoms, all characters - please age up/ timeskip as appropriate! No need for blood, gore, and death if it’s not for you; just have something mildly eerie or spooky, give it some sort of summer flavor, and make it sexy! ("Cabin" is not a required theme lol.) Smut is...more than encouraged. (But not expected if that's not what you're comfy with!)
🔻There is no limit on characters or tropes!! I would ask not to repeat the exact same scenario if you see one on the list already! For example, there can be multiple “home invasion” or “haunted house” prompts, just use different characters! Alternatively, put Nanami or anyone in as many different scenarios as you want!
🔻When you’ve posted your work, just let me know so I can add it to the master list! No need to @ me or tag #daryascabin if you don’t want to; I don’t want to force anyone to change a posting style or aesthetic that they already use and enjoy. Again- just let me know somehow! Also, please let me know if you do not want me promoting your work in any way. Otherwise, I’ll be reblogging and boosting all submissions intermittently :)
🔻 I would greatly appreciate if you, as a writer, ask readers to have their age in bio. I personally have a policy of blocking minors, ageless, and blank blogs that interact with my posts/ page.
── Want to join the cabin, but not sure what to write? Message me and I'll gladly help brainstorm :)
(back to the main page) 🔪 (to the masterlist)

name: andy
pronouns: she / he / they. whatever vibes i give u
preference of communication: discord but i'm slow and busy to reply LOL my bad. its the adhd
name of most active muse(s): cass! im probably moving my wonder woman to a sideblog here tho cuz i miss her. also looking into another character to go w/ scoob's sandra... stay tuned.
experience/how long (months/years?): like my whole ass life.... i think i literally started rping on wizard101. tumblr wise tho i belieevveee 2015ish? give or take
platforms you’ve used: besdies online mmo games, i started more serious literary rp on devi.antart. got on tumblr a few years later and thats my fave to this day. not a fan of discord rp
best experience: man there were so many... obligatory best experience being meeting my fiance on here or whatever. imma be honest i wouldnt have mentioned this if kat didnt also almost forget and put it on her's GEHSUIEGSJKHDG but my best muses were probably when me and her were writing shin.obu and ka.nae from demon slayer. still am obsessed w/ those portrayals. probably my peak. had an insanely popular tsu.yu from b.nha blog that was also a fun time mostly
rp pet peeves / dealbreakers: uhhh don't treat our rp stuff like we're in a dedicated 8 year long relationship or something because i do not take this website seriously whatsoever. also dupes who take out their dupe anxiety on/around me is the worst thing ever... especially bc i love dupes so so bad but ive had a long string of them starting shit w/ my friends just cuz they were jealous of something. we're alll just a bunch of nerds writing collaborative fanfiction its not that deep.
fluff, angst, or smut: i like all three! preference for fluff and angst but i'll plot out smut. never really wrote much of it myself but i'm open to that depending on the occasion. if i had to choose one i guess angst cuz im the best at writing that but i get bored of just one thing all the time.
plots or memes: memes because my attention span is garbage and im sadly too busy to full on plot with people. i do loooovee plots but its also kinda difficult since it has a lot to do with if you and the other person vibe or not u_u would love to plot more tho
long or short replies: i'll be honest. i love long so bad but it takes forever to write so i prefer like 70% short stuff and 30% long stuff. i don't like dialogue for more than goofing around. short for me is like 2-4 paragraphs and long is 5+, for reference.
best time to write: when my mentally ill brain allows me to focus/fixate long enough to do so AND im not being bombarded w/ ppl needing my help or job stuff. the woes of being a techy...
are you like your muse(s): in a few ways (like aesthetic) but not really, i've had other characters that i act way more like in the past. love her so bad tho she's definitely one of my fave character types to write even if i dont act much ilke her
tagged by @leopardblow ♥ ♥ ♥ tagging whoever hasn't done it! idk i haven't been on LOL
