Part 1
Summary: All of their friends and family turn up to their baby shower, but so do Evan's parents. And things don't go quite to plan.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Looking good."
Tilting her head to one side, (Y/n) let a smile trickle across her lips when her eyes landed on Chris. He paused midway through rushing down the hall and a cheesy grin curved over his lips and put creases in his eyes.
He looked himself up and down before beaming his smile at (Y/n). She didn't know where he got his bundle of energy from. All of them knew Chris hadn't slept much last night, he had been riding high on adrenaline, much the same as Evan had been. They were all excited and flooded with anticipation for today. It was the baby shower.
Chris loved any excuse for a party, he didn't care when or where it was or why they were celebrating. He just loved to have everyone gathered together and the music and the atmosphere always brought out the best in him. Parties were his scene, and Eddie had a big family so Chris was forever invited to birthdays and anniversaries and weddings.
Today was better though, this was something for him to celebrate. This was an event Chris could join in with and not just be additional family. This was for his baby brother or sister.
"You want help?" Chris held his hand out somewhat expectingly towards (Y/n) and his smile melted her heart.
"Thank you sweetheart," She didn't technically need his help right now, but it was too sweet an offer to turn down.
(Y/n) let Chris take her hand while she pressed her other palm against the wall to steady herself. She still couldn't put a lot of weight on her left foot, even a week after her fall. The swelling had finally started to go down, but her foot wasn't a normal colour and she was walking with a limp and forever tilting towards the right like she was about to fall over.
He gave her hand a squeeze and took the lead down the hall, making sure to walk slow so (Y/n) could keep up with him.
She had to walk on her tiptoe mostly when she put any weight on her left foot and her knee was forever bent forward rather than being held straight. It made her feel like a flamingo with the way she constantly stood and leaned and held one leg up. But this was the only way (Y/n) could balance and walk unaided, and she wasn't going to use crutches.
The pair of them headed down the hall and made their way into the kitchen, pausing on the threshold to watch the scene in front of them.
Neither of them could make out what Evan was preparing, but it smelled good. He was leant over the counter, seemingly doing five jobs at once. He unwrapped clingfilm from silver trays, set cakes down onto plates and spun round to move some mini bites from a hot tray whilst trying not to burn his fingers.
And then there was Eddie, about to reach out for a plate until Evan slapped his hand away without casting one glance over at him.
(Y/n) sank her teeth down in her lower lip to morph her smile when Eddie's upper lip curled and he rolled his eyes.
"I can arrange a few cakes on a plate, you know." He quipped sassily, but all he got in response was a deadpan look from Evan who looked unamused. "What, you don't trust me to carry them all the way to the table?"
"What's the rule?"
A quiet 'ooh' tumbled past (Y/n)'s lips and she gently nudged Chris, encouraging him to head off into the living room. She knew he was waiting for Eddie's parents to arrive and the moment they turned up, Chris would be at the front door to greet them.
Her arms folded over her bump and she leaned against the doorway, her head tilted against the door while her eyes focused on her boys. Evan finally straightened up and turned to face Eddie who had his hands on his hips and an unhappy expression on his face.
"I cook, Tommy cleans and you…" A hint of a smile graced Evan's lips while one hand gripped the counter and the other planted on his hip, waiting for Eddie to finish the little rule they had come up with.
"Stay out the kitchen." Eddie finished in a grumble, quirking one brow with his jaw jutting from side to side.
He was no chef, they all agreed on that, and it was a good thing that Tommy, (Y/n) and Evan were all good in the kitchen. It meant Eddie never had to cook, something Chris was also relieved about, and right now Evan was in his element. He didn't need Eddie to help try and move the food into the dining room, he just wanted to be left to his own devices in here.
Evan caught Eddie's chin in his grip and nudged his head back so he could have a kiss. His hand trailed down Eddie's neck, fluttered across his collar bone and finally rested on his chest, giving him a little shove until he sighed and backed up towards the dining room.
He didn't know what to do with himself. Evan and Maddie had been doing the food preparation, Tommy had tidied up and put a few minimal decorations up wherever Maddie told him to. All Eddie seemed to do was get dressed and wait for orders that weren't coming.
"Baby, tell him to let me help." Eddie reached his arms out for (Y/n) when she slowly hobbled into the kitchen. He held her by the waist and reeled her into his chest.
He pecked her temple and started to glide his hands up and down her waist and over the small of her back. Their chests leaned together and Eddie tilted her back like they were in a dance, but just as he peppered a kiss to her lips, his brows furrowed and he tilted his head down.
"Where's your boot?" His hands gave her hips a squeeze and he rose a brow, the firm line of his lips telling her not to bother trying to play this off.
"In the bedroom."
"You're meant to walk in it, not sleep in it, go put it on." Evan wafted the tea towel in the direction of the hallway but when he snook a glance across at her, (Y/n) frowned.
"I'm not hobbling around in that for a party, besides, I don't have to wear it all the time."
She flopped her head forward onto Eddie's shoulder and looped her arms around his neck, dragging her fingers over the short hairs at the back of his neck which made him tremor against her. The boot strapped around her foot and ankle and it went up towards the back of her knee. It didn't exactly match the outfit (Y/n) had on.
She had settled for a thin lace black top with dark tone butterflies sewn across the material. Matched with a pair of knee-length black leggings and her sandals. Heels weren't an option with her messed up ankle and the baby bump weighing her down. The boot didn't go with her outfit and (Y/n) didn't have to have it on every second of the day. She could take it off for a while to let her foot rest and she had worn it this morning while she did a few odd jobs around the house.
(Y/n) didn't want it on if they were going to be having friends over and taking pictures, she wanted to look good, not bandaged up.
"If you don't wear it you'll mess up your ankle, you're already walking around on it too much."
"Evan…"
"Go sit down until everyone arrives. And you put that boot on later." There wasn't much room for discussion in Eddie's tone and (Y/n) found herself nodding along instantly. She would wear it later when her foot started to ache, when it hurt to hobble (Y/n) knew she needed the support before she did any further damage.
She felt Eddie press a kiss to her temple and his hands lingered on her hips until she was out of reach, slowly heading through to the living room to sit with Chris.
***
When he felt an arm curve around the back of his shoulders, Eddie let himself relax back until his shoulders hit a firm chest and he felt a familiar pair of lips against the back of his head. He smiled at the hand that draped over his collar bone and the feeling of those fingers tracing random patterns over the top of his crisp white button up shirt.
A smile danced across his lips and he tilted his head back so he could look up at Tommy who curved around him like a jacket.
Tommy pressed a kiss to his cheek and leaned his temple against Eddie's for a few seconds while the music blasted through the garden and filtered through the air.
"All good?" He murmured softly, grazing his teeth across Eddie's ear which had him shivering and gripping his beer bottle tighter.
Eddie found the will to hum and nod his head when he realised he hadn't given Tommy an answer.
Everyone looked happy so far. Chris was filtering around the garden, finding different people to talk to and riding high on the adrenaline. He had spent quite a lot of time with Eddie's parents the moment they arrived, showing them his room and the nursery which he had helped decorate. Chris had finally let his grandparents have a moment to themselves before he undoubtedly would go back to them.
Evan was stood across the garden with Bobby, the pair of them looking like they were exchanging secrets nobody else would be able to hear. And they could both see (Y/n) stood with Maddie and Karen, laughing about something neither of them could hear or make out.
When (Y/n) clocked the boys looking her way, her smile seemed to melt and something flashed across her eyes like a shooting star. She leaned her head at an angle, keeping the eye contact for a few seconds.
And both of them grinned when she balanced on her right leg so she could lift up her left leg just a little. Showing off the boot Evan had graciously helped her get on ten minutes ago. She had been in pain quicker than any of them thought and she gave in almost immediately, asking Evan to help her get it on.
It didn't go with the outfit and it was annoying, (Y/n) thumped when she walked and she felt like she was making indents in the grass when she walked out in the garden. But the support stopped her from leaning too far to the right and she could put a bit more weight down on her left foot without too much flaring pain licking up her leg. When they were going to take photos, (Y/n) was taking the boot off.
Tommy grinned against Eddie's cheek but when he heard the hinges on the back gate creak, he looked over to the left.
"Babe…" His hand patted down on Eddie's chest until he twisted to look across at the gate.
They had told everyone to come through into the garden and the gate had been left open for anyone else to walk in. But they hadn't expected Evan's parents to walk through the gate.
"I thought he said he didn't invite them." Tommy kept his voice quiet and tried to fake a smile to keep the atmosphere going. They didn't need to make a scene, Evan's parents might be here giving an olive branch their way. They might not make any remarks or upset any of them, they might just show some support tonight.
"Yeah… Buck, more guests." Eddie ticked his head to the side, almost clocking his head into Tommy's nose while he raised his glass to catch their boyfriend's attention. Those were his guests and he could go and greet them and start the introductions. Eddie and Tommy were staying well away and they knew (Y/n) would keep away too.
The smile on Evan's face faded the moment he looked away from Bobby.
Why were his parents here?
He could feel his shoulders quaking and pulling up near his neck and his eyes immediately scanned around the garden until he was locking gazes with his big sister. They were both under the impression that their parents wouldn't be coming today.
Evan had told them last week about the baby. He had finally gotten through to his mum on the phone and he tried to keep his tone level and his voice calm as he explained that (Y/n) was pregnant and he was going to have another kid. Since he, Tommy and (Y/n) all considered Chris their kid too.
He had been surprised when his mother sounded happy, he had been waiting for her to chide him and tell him how many mistakes he was making with his life. He thought she would ask who's baby it actually was or tell him to walk away from the relationship like she tried to do last time they were in town. But his mum had been shockingly happy, she congratulated him and said this was 'wonderful news' and she didn't sound sarcastic.
Evan casually brought it into conversation that (Y/n) was nearly seven months along and so Maddie was throwing a baby shower. But his parents never asked if they could come and they never said they would make the trip down for the party.
He hadn't expected them, and by the look on Maddie's face, she hadn't expected them to turn up either.
He placed his beer bottle down on the nearest surface, patted Bobby's shoulder and took the deepest, most calming breath possible before he steered himself in their direction.
He wasn't ready for this.
They were bound to say something. They would give funny looks or make little comments and the last time his mum had been around (Y/n), she hadn't been kind. Eddie had quickly steered (Y/n) away last time before she started a fight.
"Hey, you came."
Shock rattled through Evan and he froze when his mum reached out to hug him. He wasn't used to hugs. They were always short and awkward, they never felt like hugging a parent, it always felt like hugging a distant aunt he never knew he had. Maddie was the one who hugged Evan like the world depended on it. She hugged him like she loved the bones of him, those were the hugs he was used to.
The only time his parents properly hugged him without feeling forced was after he had the fire truck crush his leg and they came down to see how he was recovering from his operations.
His arms cautiously curved around his mum and he let her drag him down to her due to the height difference. His eyes widened and he quietly gasped when she kissed his cheek.
"Oh, honey of course we came. This is our first grandchild, after all." She gave his biceps a tight squeeze and crinkled her nose as she smiled up at him.
His brows rose in surprise and he felt his dad pat his shoulder before he moved to set a bag down along with the other presents everyone had placed on the table near the back door. Evan dreaded to think what the present was, his parents weren't great at gifts, at least for Evan. And this wasn't for him, this was for his baby. It wasn't like they actually knew Evan on a deeper level or knew any of his partners properly so he didn't dare think what they had brought.
But it was the thought that counts and they were trying, Evan was willing to try too.
"Do you want to come and get a drink?" Evan tried not to cringe when his mum held his elbow. He wasn't used to physical contact with her and right now she was stood closer to him than she had in years.
Was this all he had to do to get his parents to accept his relationship? If he'd of known extending their family and having a baby would have brought out the acceptance in his parents, Evan would have done this sooner.
"Evan, we're so happy for you." Margaret patted Evan's arm before she let go in exchange for the drink he handed to her. He knew neither of his parents would drink, and he had no idea if they were staying in town for the night or if they were going straight back home after this. He didn't really want them to stick around, but the effort was encouraging.
"You… you are?" He looked between them, raising a brow across at Maddie when she watched Phillip pat his shoulder.
"Of course we are, you're finally settling down."
Evan nodded, somewhat pleased with his dad's words and guided them towards (Y/n) and Maddie just as Karen drifted off to find Hen and Chimney. He walked behind them, curving an arm around (Y/n)'s waist so he could kiss the top of her head and hand her another drink.
"You came," Maddie wrapped her mum up in a quick hug and kissed her dad before she stood at (Y/n)'s side again. She could feel the nervousness radiating off of her.
(Y/n) didn't know what to say. She didn't know how to act when last time she had been ready to throw fists with how rude and disrespectful Margaret had been towards all three of her partners. She took jibes at Eddie and Tommy and started putting Evan down like she always did, and (Y/n) wouldn't stand for that.
Right now, though, Margaret was smiling and she looked the calmest (Y/n) had ever seen her. It was unnerving.
"Evan, you never said on the phone, do you know what you're having? Boy or girl?" Margaret looked down towards (Y/n)'s bump and for a moment it looked like she was about to reach out, but she thought better of it and stayed put next to Phillip instead.
(Y/n) danced her fingers across her stomach and looked up at Evan, letting him take the lead on this.
"No, we're leaving it a surprise."
Maddie had begged them to find out. She asked for them to get the midwife to write it down so they could do a little reveal today at the party, but all of them disagreed. They liked the thought of keeping everyone in suspense and guessing. They wanted to wait until the birth to find out, like it was supposed to be. And Tommy had started taking bets with his friends down at the 217 and Harbour.
After a few minutes of polite chat that turned (Y/n)'s brain to mush and sent her head spinning, she slouched back against Evan's chest and tilted her head back to look up at him. Her lips curved up and she tried not to squirm when she felt his cold fingertips sliding beneath her top to feather across her bump. He knew she was ticklish, it was why he was biting down a smirk and deliberately not looking at her.
It was good to see him talking to his parents calmly for a change and not having to hold back his words or his true feelings. They weren't putting him down, they were making an effort and it was a good start.
(Y/n) gave his wrist a gentle squeeze and tilted her head to pepper a few kisses against his throat, feeling him shiver beneath her wet lips.
He kissed her temple in retaliation and leaned his head close so she could whisper in his ear.
"The baby wants some cake." Her words tickled the shell of his ear and she squeezed his hand again before she pulled out of his arms. She didn't know who Hen got to make the cake, but the baby loved it and (Y/n) needed to get some more before it was demolished. Tommy had already had two slices, Eddie was on his third and Chris kept going back for more. There wouldn't be much left soon.
She could feel Evan's hands lingering on her waist until he had to let go before he toppled over. His touch left shivers in his wake and (Y/n) found herself grinning as she slowly hobbled over to the buffet table.
The height of the boot set her off balance and it didn't feel right to wear one high heel shoe to try and level it out and (Y/n) couldn't balance in one heel and one flat strapped boot. Her weight was constantly leaning to the right to keep as much weight off her left ankle as possible and as much as the boot made her feel secure and helped her walk, the pressure didn't do much good when the swelling was only just going down.
When her right foot caught and bent at an odd angle, her hands shot out for the table to steady herself. She felt a pair of hands quickly grab her elbow and her waist, reeling her back up before she went down on her knees or crashed into the table and sent it flying.
"You okay there?"
Embarrassment tainted (Y/n)'s face as she looked up over her shoulder to find Bobby stood behind her with a calm expression and a tender look in his eyes.
"Hm, thank you." She dipped her eyes down and tried to straighten up so Bobby didn't have to keep hold of her. That was why she didn't want to wear the boot, it didn't look right and it set her off balance with every step. At least she hadn't gone down like a sack of potatoes and made a right fool of herself in front of everyone.
"No problem, so, how are you?" Bobby nodded when (Y/n) pointed to the cake, silently asking if he wanted another slice since she was cutting some for herself.
She put a slice on his plate, one on hers and plated another bit up so she could go and find Chris in a minute and hand him some before it all disappeared. Her right hip leant up against the table and she kept a steady hand on the edge, just to make sure she didn't set herself off balance again.
"I'm doing better… this things more hassle than it's worth, though." Her gaze cast down to the boot and her head ticked to the side. She took a sweeping glance around the garden, just to make sure none of the boys had caught her subtle trip.
If they saw they would be flying over to make sure she was alright and Evan wouldn't let her take the boot off if he saw she had tripped. But she was going to discretely hide it soon so she could walk a bit better and feel a little more normal.
"At least your a better patient than Buck, I tell you if he does any more damage to that leg I'm not babysitting him again."
A chuckle rumbled through Bobby's chest and caused (Y/n)'s chest to flutter with a quiet laugh. She agreed. They had all been pulling their hair out when Evan had his accident with the fire truck.
The operations weren't so bad, it was the recovery. Trying to tell Evan to take it easy was like talking to a brick wall expecting an answer. (Y/n) had been helping him get washed and get in and out of the bath without getting his cast wet. Tommy and Eddie had been helping him move about the house since he wasn't great on crutches.
They all had to stay with him at some point or another so he didn't try and overdo it. Bobby and Maddie had been round to help calm him down and prevent him from trying to do too many physio exercises or push himself too far in his recovery. He had been the best and the worst patient in the world, all at once.
"Hopefully the only person needing babysitting will be this one." (Y/n) didn't dare think about any of her boys having any accidents. She didn't want to consider Evan getting any worse with his leg or having another injury. She didn't need to think about Eddie getting shot again or Tommy coming off shift with a busted shoulder.
The only one (Y/n) wanted to think about babysitting was their impending arrival. And Bobby seemed to be on the same train of thought because his expression softened and his eyes cast down to her bump.
"Well in that case, me and Athena are always available."
"You might regret saying that in a few months," (Y/n) gave Bobby's shoulder a squeeze before she picked up the paper plates and weaved past him. Heading in the direction of Chris while Bobby turned to drift over to Athena and May who were sat basking in the sun.
(Y/n) took a deep breath when her eyes landed on Chris and she realised who he was talking to. Eddie's parents. She hadn't had a proper conversation with them since they arrived today. Eddie had talked to them for a long while before the party officially got in swing and Evan had exchanged pleasantries with them.
But (Y/n) hadn't gotten round to speaking to them yet, she never knew what to say or how to act. Eddie's mother had given her the riot act when they first met and made it clear she didn't like Eddie being in a multiple relationship like this, as if it was somehow (Y/n)'s fault. As if she had enchanted all three men under her spell, like this was all her doing.
Things had settled down between them since then, but they had mixed emotions about the baby. Eddie had made them promise to try and get along with his partners today, he told them in no uncertain terms that he didn't want a fight or an argument happening today and they agreed. They said they would try to get along.
"Here baby, I saved you some." She held the plate out to Chris, watching his eyes light up as he took it from her with a wide smile.
She let herself slump against the back of the garden chair Chris was perched on and watched the way he swung his legs back and forth. His head was nodding along to the music and he instantly dived in to take a big bite out of the blue and blushing pink sponge cake.
A quiet "Thanks mum," murmured between mouthfuls of cake and he rested his head against (Y/n)'s arm when she patted his shoulder.
"And you, you look lovely today." Eddie's mum motioned her hand towards (Y/n) with a genuine smile that caught her off guard. She wasn't usually one for dishing out compliments, especially not to (Y/n).
What had Eddie said to her this morning?
"Oh, thank you." Her eyes cast down to her outfit that she hadn't been too sure about this morning until Tommy had been unable to look anywhere else and had his hands roaming all over her. "Chris said you're staying in town for a few days, do you have anything planned?"
Chris had been more than overjoyed that they were staying for a few days, he didn't have that much family here in LA so to have his grandparents here was a lovely surprise.
"I think we've all been conscripted into the zoo tomorrow, something about Buck giving us a tour round?" She looked a little unsure about the details, but the way she laughed at the end of her sentence made (Y/n)'s heart take flight from her chest.
She watched the elder woman brush her long hair over her shoulder and tilt back so casually in her chair, as if they had all been friends for years. She was making an effort, a true effort. And by the sounds of it, all of them would be spending the day together tomorrow. A way to become closer and intergrate into a bigger family.
"You're in for a treat." (Y/n) leaned down so she could kiss the top of Chris's head when he started to giggle.
Going to the zoo was Evan's thing to do with Chris, and going to the cinema was something Tommy and Chris both enjoyed. Just like Eddie and Tommy preferred to go to boxing and wrestling matches together, something Evan and (Y/n) weren't so keen on. They all had their little things together, but the beach, arcades and theme parks were things they all loved to do together as a family.
Tomorrow sounded like it was going to be a good day.
Once the conversation started to change and taper off into a new direction, (Y/n) politely excused herself. She put her empty plate on the side table, unsure where to drift off to now but she knew she was ready to sit down for a while.
Shivers tore up and down her arms when she felt a familiar pair of lips attach to the side of her neck. She could feel Tommy's teeth nip and graze over her skin and a slight scratch when he bit down softly. His chest moulded up into her back, curving around her and leaning down to be level with her.
"Here," He draped his right arm around her waist, holding his hand out in front of her where he was holding two plastic cups between his fingers.
She gratefully took one but her chest tightened and her back jolted against Tommy's chest when a frozen cold beer bottle suddenly pressed into the left side of her abdomen. Droplets of juice splashed around the rim of her cup and drizzled down her hand like the first flickers of rain and electric shocks coursed up and down her side and down through her arm.
"Tommy!" She hissed through a quirked smile, trying to wriggle away but he pressed the bottle closer until the condensation was soaking into her shirt and her stomach was shuddering at the cold temperature.
The bottle moved around to the middle of her bump and she could feel Tommy's fingers dragging along, creating patterns over her shivering skin which had him laughing into her neck. He bit down just enough to leave a scratch against the side of her throat, quickly soothing the touch with his tongue before he reeled his head back.
He peppered a few tender, lasting kisses up and down her throat and leaned round so he was hovering over her shoulder, lips puckered, expecting a kiss.
"Stop trying to wake them up," (Y/n)'s voice came out quieter than a whisper and her words were gentle, spoken into Tommy's mouth as she was already kissing him before she was finished speaking. She knew what he was trying to do, he was trying to get some movement or a kick out of the baby.
"You feeling okay?" He finally shifted the bottle away from her stomach, pulling her lower lip between his teeth with a growl when (Y/n) dragged her finger down the side of his sharp jawline.
"We're good."
He hummed in response, nodding before finally unravelling himself from around her, leaving (Y/n) suddenly cold and hollow as she watched him head over to Evan, presumably who the other drink was for.
Her eyes couldn't seem to pull away from her boys as she took a sip of her drink and feathered her free hand absentmindedly across her bump. She didn't realise she was smiling until Evan caught her eye and winked in her direction.
But her gaze swiftly turned to the right, glancing in the direction of the Buckleys, gathered next to Maddie.
"What're they doing here?" Margaret motioned her glass in Eddie's direction who was now stood chatting to his parents. He was stood behind Chris's chair, both arms wrapped around his son's shoulders and his lips attached to the top of Chris's curls.
(Y/n) took a few steps closer, unsure what Margaret was talking about, but she could feel ice cold dread clawing down the back of her neck and down her spine as Margaret's expression seemed to change. The placid smile she wore earlier was nowhere to be seen. Her lips were parted and curved down oddly at the corners with her upper lip and nose crinkling in what (Y/n) could only describe as horror.
The way she narrowed her eyes had (Y/n) shuddering and realising that she was looking across at Evan. More specifically, at the way Tommy was draped around Evan like a blanket.
Tommy had his arm around Evan's torso, hand flat on his stomach, chest up against Evan's back and he kept kissing the side of his head in between drinks.
"Did you think they'd be at work?" Maddie tilted her head to one side, unsure why her mum was so spooked and uneasy all of a sudden. Had Evan not explained things properly? Had he only mentioned the baby shower in passing and not given all the details? After all, they hadn't expected their parents to actually turn up today.
"He- he's still with them?"
Anxiety clawed at the back of (Y/n)'s throat and she could feel the baby kicking, waking up with the bursts of adrenaline (Y/n) was getting. Her stomach churned and she was sure that cake she ate was going to make a reappearance.
What was going on? What did Margaret think was happening here? (Y/n) knew it had been too good to be true that they had been so accepting and loving towards Evan when they turned up today. She knew there had to be some reason or miscommunication going on.
"What?" She tried not to let her voice tremble as she walked over to stand beside Maddie, staying as close to her as possible with enough distance between herself and Evan's parents.
"Evan told us you were pregnant, we assumed that meant you'd gotten out of this stage. How can you start a family with this unconventional mess? They shouldn't be here-"
"They're our partners, where else would they be?" A defensive tone took over (Y/n)'s voice and her shoulders straightened and squared up, but her hand stayed on her stomach almost protectively.
So they truly had misunderstood. They thought Evan and (Y/n) had suddenly come out of their relationship with Tommy and Eddie. They thought the baby was just Evan's and that they were starting fresh together without their other two partners. How could they think that Evan would break up with the boys and not tell them? How could they think he would break up with the boys but not (Y/n)?
Evan was constantly telling them how happy he was now. Maddie was always trying to tell them to be inclusive because she knew her brother was the happiest he had ever been. She knew he was loved and cared for and he was who he always wanted to be when he was with his family.
"Well who's baby is it?"
The snappy tone in Phillip's voice took (Y/n) by surprise and she leaned back, taking a step away when his hand moved dangerously close to her stomach. She bit back a groan, hiding the cringe that tore through her when she stepped back on her bad foot and put a bit more weight on it than she was used to recently.
She could feel Maddie's hand moving to grip her arm for comfort and security while she lifted her head, eagerly trying to catch either her brother or Tommy's attention. They were going to need help with this conversation.
"Theirs." (Y/n) surprised herself with the confidence in her voice even though her heart was hammering away in her chest and her head was fogging up.
It was their baby. Paternity didn't matter when there were four people in this relationship and all three of the boys were agreed from the beginning that they were going to raise this baby together, as theirs. Just like they were all bringing Chris up together.
"Please don't do this-" Maddie sighed, pursing her lips when her mum shot her an awful glare and huffed as if Maddie should be chiding and degrading (Y/n) too.
This was a party, a happy occasion and Maddie wanted this to go smoothly. Evan never celebrated his birthday as a child, their parents were too cold and uncaring to give him a special birthday or throw him a party. Maddie always tried to throw little parties for him, but after he left college and moved away, she knew he still didn't celebrate his birthday.
Even now, he was reluctant to have a party or have people acknowledge his birthday and it killed his sister. So to throw a party that was still somewhat for him was all she wanted to do. She wanted to do a party that included Evan and revolved around him and his partners. This was a happy occasion. Everyone was so excited for this baby, Maddie didn't want her parents walking in here and ruining today.
"So you don't know who's child you're having? What are you going to tell them? What are you going to tell people? How fair is it to get Evan to raise a child that probably isn't even his?"
"Hey! That's enough." Evan's voice growled and cut through the music, breaking apart the previously calm atmosphere that seemed to quake around him.
He found himself standing in front of his parents, putting himself in front of (Y/n) and his sister like a shield of armour. The way his shoulders rose and straightened made it seem like he was growing and expanding on the spot and the deep breath he sucked in had his chest rising too.
A bubble of dread swelled up in the pit of (Y/n)'s stomach and she found herself backing away before she could think better of it. She didn't want to stand here and have Evan's parents looking at her like that, she'd had enough of those looks from her own family and from people at work. She wouldn't stand and be stared at or talked to like that in her own home.
(Y/n) aimed for the back door but she didn't get that far before a tense chest moved in her line of sight and hands found her shoulders.
Eddie swerved in front of her, grabbing (Y/n) before she stumbled into his chest. Her head stayed tilted down towards the floor and Eddie kissed the back of her head while one hand moved to curve around her waist instead. He didn't want her to disappear inside, this was their home and no one had the right to make her feel uncomfortable or like she had to walk away.
His thumb glided up and down her hip while his other hand cupped the back of her neck. He slowly walked her back towards their partners who were stood together like a brick wall that no one would be able to break through.
He breathed into her hair, trying to stay calm and stop himself from bounding over there to say something to defend all three of his partners. But he knew he didn't have to. No matter how desperately he wanted to, Evan seemed to have this situation under control. Eddie had spoken to his own parents this morning, this was Evan's ground to cover.
His eyes stayed focused on Evan who looked like he was ready to explode. His hands were balled into fists at his sides, his shoulders were almost touching his jaw and he was visibly shaking and vibrating on the spot.
Even the feel of Tommy's arm around his waist and the feel of his hand squeezing his hip didn't do much to calm Evan down.
"Evan, you can't do this. A relationship as strange as this is one thing, but bringing a child into the equation-"
"You really wanna stand there and lecture me about being a parent, after the way you raised me?" They had no ground to stand on when it came to being a parent. Evan had learned to pick himself up and dust himself down on his own. He learned to go to his big sister to patch him up and give him advice and guide him in the right direction.
He got life lessons and skills and more importantly, a sense of love and belonging from Bobby. Nothing useful came of being around his parents and they couldn't try and lecture him on a subject they had failed so miserably at.
"If you can't accept my family and my choices, then you shouldn't be here. My happiness is more valuable than your opinion."
His voice was quiet enough not to shout aloud for the rest of the neighbourhood to hear, but just on the edge of a louder tone that the rest of his friends and family in the garden would be able to hear.
If they couldn't let themselves be happy for Evan, then he needed them to leave because he was happy and at the best place in his life. He wasn't broken or lost or confused or searching for something that came with reckless consequences. Evan had three adoring partners, a stepson he cherished more than life itself and a baby on the way.
This was a time to celebrate, not a time for his parents to try and put him down like they always did.
"That means you can leave now. Don't let the gate hit you on the way out." Tommy leaned his chin over Evan's shoulder and pointed towards the gate, shaking his beer bottle to further his point. They couldn't stay, they weren't welcome any more after causing a scene and no one was going to miss them if they left.
Evan didn't realise he was shaking until he felt Tommy's hand gliding up and down his waist to try and calm him down and bring him back to the present.
His lips curved into a shaky smile and he dipped his head down to the right when he felt (Y/n) push up behind him. Her lips attached to his arm and her hands found his hips, staying mostly hidden behind him but not wavering in the way she held him, keeping them both grounded and secure. And he could feel Eddie stood on his other side, meshing up against him and Tommy.
As soon as the gate swung shut with a horrid, creaking groan, a wave of relief washed over all four of them and the atmosphere shifted again.
The music playing in the background seemed to become louder and come back into focus. All eyes were in their direction, but all they could see were encouraging looks, soft glances and tender smiles.
"Come on, time for presents."
You were twirling the phone cord around your finger, giggling at something Jake said at the other end. Your gaze was fixed on the ceiling but all your attention was to the man speaking to you. Jake had to leave Texas a few months ago for the Navy Academy after you both graduated at the Austin University. "When's the next time you're coming home?" You asked, kicking your legs in the air. Jake smiled, even though you couldn't see him, and he shook his head. "I don't know sweetheart..." Oh, but he knew. "Probably for the holidays." You tried not to sound too disappointed when you responded. "That's great. I can't wait to see you." You let your legs fall back down on the couch and straightened up. "I hope you're having fun." You smiled softly. "I am, it's great. I can't fly a jet yet, but they have us do some pilot shit in a simulator. It's not the same feeling but I love it!" You smile even more at the excitement in his voice, the distance was hard but knowing he was in his element made it worth it.
"What are you planning for tomorrow?" He then asked. Tomorrow you would celebrate your 24th birthday, but you didn't have the mood to celebrate anything without Jake. He hadn't missed a single birthday for 7 years and tomorrow would be the first one you spend apart. "I don't know yet... My mom wants us to go see a movie but I'm not really feeling like it..." You rubbed a hand on your face, trying to contain the tears for spilling. "Y/n..." You heard Jake sigh. "I know, I know. But I just miss you so much..." You murmured. "I miss you too, sweetheart..." He responded and the line was silent for a moment. You thought he had hung up before you heard his voice again. "You're ready to learn something new about me?" He said with a certain tease in his voice. Oh yeah, you almost forgot about that. Tomorrow you would find an envelop in your mailbox, containing a small detail about your soulmates. You knew Jake was yours, every year all the letters you got matched perfectly with him, and his with you.
"I'm pretty sure it's gonna say that you'd wet your bed until you were 8." You laughed heartedly. "Hey! It happened once and it's because I was sick! I knew I shouldn't introduce you to my mom in the first place..." You laughed even more and the melancholy you felt a minute ago disappeared. That was the thing about Jake, he always managed to bring a smile on your face. "Alright, sweetheart. I'm gonna have to go. I gotta get up early tomorrow, I'm gonna see my first jet up close." He said excitedly, making your smile widen. "Okay, cowboy. Have fun tomorrow, I'll text you whatever stupid thing I learn about you." You heard Jake laugh and you exchanged 'I love you's before hanging up. You sighed and rubbed your eyes, wiping away the tears forming in the corners.
You woke up the next morning with a smile on your face, you threw your legs out of the bed, slipped on your slippers and ran to your mailbox. You grabbed the envelop and ran back inside. You softly chuckled, anticipating whatever you're gonna learn about Jake. You silently wished it would be something embarrassing so you could have a good laugh but when you read the words on the letter, your smile immediately fell. They love olives. No, it couldn't be. Jake didn't like olives, he always gave you his. On pizzas, in salads. You've never seen him eat a single one olive since you've met him. You stayed frozen for what seemed hours before you heard knocks on your door. You knew it was your mom, and seconds after, the front door opened and you could hear your mother's voice. She joined you in the kitchen and stopped in her tracks when she saw you. "What's wrong, baby?" Your gaze stay focused on the wooden table and you gave her the letter. You didn't trust your voice from quivering if you spoke right now. She read the words and dropped the letter on the table before wrapping her arms around your shoulders. "Oh, honey... It's gonna be okay..." Jake wasn't your soulmate. You just couldn't believe it, everything was going perfect with him, even if the distance made it hard, you really thought you found your pair with him. But you were destined to be with someone else, someone who loved olives. And Jake was destined to be with another person.
Jealousy and anger took over your body and you ripped the letter and envelop to pieces. You knew you didn't have to follow what the letters told you, you could stay with Jake and everything would be fine for the both of you. But now that you knew he wasn't your soulmate, you would always think about that other person he would be happier with. You couldn't think about being happier than with Jake but you really didn't want to think about Jake being happier with someone else and leaving you for someone better than you. You then stayed home with your mom, forgetting about the movie and whatever you guys planned for your birthday. From time to time, you'd find yourself crying silently and then quickly wiping the tears to give a reassuring smile to your mom. That until you heard the doorbell ring. You were curled up on your couch, hugging a pillow and wrapped up in a blanket Jake got you last winter. Your mom got up and went to answer the front door, murmuring something before you heard the door close.
"Sweetheart?" Your head immediately raised at the sound of that voice and your eyes widened. "Jake? What are you doing here?" You straightened up and got up from the couch, dropping the pillow and the blanket on the floor. "I'll leave you two alone. Call me if you need anything, okay?" Your mom said before kissing your cheek and then Jake's before leaving the house. "Jake, what are you doing here? I thought you had class..." You asked with glassy eyes, your voice breaking and betraying your mental state. Your boyfriend dropped his duffle bag on the floor and reached for you, wrapping his arms tightly around you. "I wanted to surprise you. What's wrong? Did you learn something so embarrassing you don't wanna be with me anymore?" He tried to joke but the reality caught you and the smile he wanted to see appear on your face never showed up. That's when he knew something was very wrong. "Okay, let's sit down for a bit and you'll tell me everything, okay? Just calm down and breathe deeply." You both sat down on the couch and you curled up against him, listening to his heartbeat and timing your breathing with his. He was rubbing your back the whole time, kissing the top of your head and whispering reassuring words into your ear.
Once you calmed down and pulled away from him and looked into his eyes. "You're not the one I'm supposed to be with..." You murmured and he froze. He looked like a kicked puppy and you hated yourself for being the one responsible for how sad he looked. "What...? No. That's not possible, everything matched." He ran his fingers into his hair as he got up from the couch and paced around the living room. "What did it say? Where's the envelop? I wanna see." He looked back at you with incredulous eyes. "I shred it to pieces... It said..." You calmed your voice and took a deep breath. "It said my soulmate loves olives." You looked down at your hands on your lap and heard Jake chuckle. You frowned and looked up at him with confusion written all over your face. "This is not funny, Jake." You almost felt offended he would laugh about something like this. The soon-to-be-pilot stopped laughing and sat back down next to you, taking your hands in his. "I'm sorry, it's not. It's not funny. It's just that... I am your soulmate." He said with a soft smile. "Jake, no-" But before you could keep talking, he stopped you, placing his fingers on your lips. "No, I am your soulmate, Y/n. I love olives, I do." You frowned and took his hand, pulling it away from your mouth. "What? But..." You really didn't understand what was happening...
"You remember our first date in high school?" Of course you remembered, you skipped your last class of the morning to go get pizza and go to the park next to your high school. You shared one pizza and that's when you learned Jake didn't like olives. Well, apparently he did. You nodded and stayed silent, waiting for his explanation. "When you took that first bite into the pizza, I asked you if you liked olives. But not because I didn't like them, it was because I saw how much you loved them. I wanted to make you happy and I did. You were so excited to get my olives as well as yours. I just never told you so you didn't feel bad for stealing my olives." He explained and you let out a deep sigh. You felt your eyes water and you threw yourself in Jake's arms, embracing him tightly. "So we're still soulmates...?" You asked in the crook of his neck. "As long as you'd let me." He kissed the spot just between your neck and your shoulder before pulling away and looking straight into his eyes. "Happy birthday, Sweetheart..." He gently smiled and you giggled before kissing him deeply.
Uika and her inner monster, Doloris
Admittedly when I first watched It's MyGO and Ave Mujica 0th, I didn't really think much of Uika. She and Doloris are presented as such vastly different entities that my brain kind of glossed over her, because I don't tend to go crazy for characters who are presented to us as always being bright and warm. Even when the last episode aired and I saw her undergo the transformation from Uika into Doloris, it still hadn't fully set in for me (though perhaps this is simply because I was busy losing my mind in excitement about seeing Ave Mujica at all as well as the sequel announcement).
But reading the interviews that came out after the anime finished airing completely changed that. Uika is Tomori's opposite in every regard? She has a secret so intense it made her voice actress stand out of her chair and yell when she heard it? I need to know more! What on earth could this seemingly kind character be hiding?
I've been keeping a close eye on her content ever since, and it's slowly making me feel insane. So, in anticipation for the anime, as well as their 4th concert which will happen in December and thus give us even more Doloris lore, I wanted to compile a post on the both of them in which I will present my various thoughts and theories.
Doloris
Uika is, in the most literal sense, Doloris' actress. This could perhaps lend to many believing that Uika is not Doloris, or rather that Doloris is not Uika. At the same time, I want to pose a very simple question.
Who came first: Doloris or Uika?
Timeline-wise, Doloris came first. Can Uika even exist without Doloris? Can she be who she is without us immediately recognizing her as being Doloris? What came first was not "Doloris is a puppet persona Uika plays as on stage," but rather it was "Uika is Doloris from Ave Mujica." This was their intent; to introduce Doloris to us, and then to introduce this girl who has an identical design to her in the anime, who is seemingly her exact opposite. What weight could Uika's scenes hold, if not to tell us that she will later turn into the monster known as Doloris? On her own, without Doloris, what does Uika represent?
Doloris herself talks about wanting to be seen for her true self. Is Uika Doloris' true self, or is Doloris Uika's true self? Which is it that they want us to believe? Which one does "Uika" want us to believe? Which one is Sakiko, or perhaps Oblivionis, trying to convince us to believe? Who is "Uika"?
Our introduction to this character was not a Sumimi scene, or her consoling someone, or a frame of her smiling, or of her expressing her love for music. It was this.
youtube
This creepy, disturbing montage of Doloris, covered in blood, inviting someone into her cult. Inviting you into her cult. Inviting you to dig deeper.
Though if you want to go even further back, I would argue our first, true genuine introduction was Black Birthday itself.
You see, I don't believe there's any true and correct way to interpret Ave Mujica's songs. The songs are whatever you make of them. That's part of the insanity of Ave Mujica; of never having a proper answer, of always wanting to dig deeper. So I won't say this is that correct reading, but rather one of the infinite possibilities. That said, after watching the intermissions from their concerts as we currently know them, I can't help but feel their first 6 songs perfectly tell the story of Doloris. It goes something like this:
Black Birthday: Doloris' rebirth into her true self. The dyeing of one's purity into corruption. Finally being able to see what was once unseeable (perhaps the light in the pitch black darkness, which she discusses a lot in their stage plays). It's a disturbing birthday party welcoming the new her.
The Two Moons ~Deep Into the Forest~: Now reborn, she finds herself lost in a forest. The play sequence in the last episode of It's MyGO feels reminiscent to this song; Doloris straying into a forest (Loft Moon), while Oblivionis ridicules her, and yet she's so beautiful she cannot take her eyes off her despite the pain of having her heart torn asunder. The song even has imagery describing candles lit on a table, which we can see in the anime rendition of this scene.
Choir 'S' Choir: She's slowly giving in to the insanity of Ave Mujica. This song reminds me a lot of Perdere Omnia; when she finally stops her denial and begins to understand why the others wish to destroy the world. She's letting herself become an esquire, a fallen angel if you will. She hears voices screaming at her, and she knows she's being hunted down, but she keeps dancing anyway. She's testing out her new abilities.
God, You're a Fool: This song represents her inner doubts. What exactly are they fighting for? For whose sake? Why do they have to be in this situation to begin with? If God wasn't a fool, surely everything would be fine... right?
Mas?uerade Rhapsody Re?uest: She's decided she no longer cares about anything. No longer cares how corrupted she becomes, no longer cares to hide her dark feelings. She's just going to fully embrace it all, she's going to let herself be taken by the shadowy jesters. The mask is a part of her now.
Ave Mujica: With her mask as her skin, it's her turn to lure others in. She's going to corrupt you. She reassures you that those with masks will fulfill your any wish, and that even though this is a place of no return, don't worry, there's nothing to be scared of.
It's interesting, because while the songs can apply to anyone (the other dolls for one, and perhaps even the listeners themselves), I can't ignore the parallels between the story these songs are telling, and the story of Doloris as we've seen in the concert intermissions. (Regarding the Utopia single and the ELEMENTS series, those songs were written more to fit a specific narrative, and I don't think they apply to the dolls themselves as directly. That's just my own personal take on them though and is why I won't be analyzing them here)
As for the intermissions themselves, there's a lot going on in them and much of Doloris' dialogue isn't about herself, but I want to go over some general observations:
Doloris uses 僕 (boku). This is significant because she's the only one who has a personal pronoun that differs from her actress; Uika uses 私(watashi). Ave Mujica songs use 私 (watashi) as well, though I don't think this means much in the context of Uika or Doloris because it's just for formality (if anything, it's interesting because it's an inverse of Uika's narrative opposite, Tomori; who uses 私 (watashi) in her daily speech but 僕 (boku) in her songs). That said, in Quaerere Lumina, there's a segment where "Doloris" switches to 私 (watashi), which many found haunting because it almost felt as if those words came from Uika herself, and that she switched back to Doloris after speaking vulnerable words from her heart.
She uses 君 (kimi; "you") in an interesting way. In Perdere Omnia, this referred to Oblivionis. In Veritas, however, she uses this repeatedly in the context of "someone" who she wants to be reborn with. It's someone who extended a hand to her, and who took her mask off her. It's someone she wants to be with for the rest of her life, just the two of them. And at the end, she uses it in reference to you, the audience, who will surely attend their next concert. Who is it that removed her mask? Oblivionis, or us? (Like many things in Ave Mujica, my own interpretation on this is that it's probably Oblivionis, because at its core, this is a yuri band, and Oblivionis is in fact someone who we've seen accept Doloris for who she is)
Each doll has a specific thing they focus on: Oblivionis stands her ground despite everything but also talks about finding things pitiful, Timoris is logical and an observer who wants to be acknowledged, Amoris talks about her lost love and boredom, Mortis talks about peace and quiet as well as the beauty in death. For Doloris, the thing she highlights that the others don't is us watching her slowly spiral into insanity, and particularly as of Veritas, her sense of her own body (as well as this attachment to someone else, as mentioned above). She sees herself as an empty shell, which is true for the others as well, but on top of this she has a fixation on her mask and the relationship it has with her body. It's her skin, and simultaneously, if you remove it, below that you'll find her true, perhaps ugly self. It means a lot to her that someone could love the her that exists without the mask. (Is this intended to be foreshadowing for the relationship between Doloris and Uika, and which of the two of them is her truest self?)
Doloris is an embodiment of insecurity, and simultaneously, she's a ferocious monster when she performs. Rico Sasaki herself claims that she feels like Doloris possesses her when they hold concerts. Her voice is cold, bitter and pained; it's a far cry from Uika's speaking voice, which is so warm and comforting. She is plagued with sorrow, of which she would rather die and be reborn than have to deal with. Her ideal world is simply one of being together with the one who accepts her in all of her ugliness.
Uika
There's a sort of trend to Uika's scenes: when she's around someone else, she waits for them to talk or express emotion before she matches their energy, and when she's alone, she drops the happy idol facade. The very first time we ever see her, she's doing just this.
This is also apparent in two other (coincidentally Sumimi) scenes, where the same thing happens in each: Uika is matching the energy of who she's talking to, but the second she's separated from them by a door, she has an almost empty expression on her face.
(The fact this has happened for both Sumimi scenes, when Uika has so little screentime so every second we see of her is supposed to be precious, has me really wondering just how much she likes her "dream job." Also, I wonder if this is a coincidence: immediately after both of these shots, she looks at her phone and sees Sakiko on her screen which cheers her up (the first is an old text, the second is a phone call))
It's something that on its own feels a bit deliberate, but when you take a certain intermission from their concerts into consideration, it really does become something you can't ignore.
This is the one part of the concert intermissions in which Doloris uses 私 (watashi). This is what many interpret to be Uika's words.
To put this simply, she feels as if she's an empty shell who has to match the energy of the people around her. When nobody is there to give her something to react to, she reverts to that husk. This is exactly the vibe I get from a lot of her scenes in the anime.
(I talked in depth about these two scenes in my Taki&Uika writeup so please do check that out for my thoughts on them, but to recap for this context: it's interesting to me how she looks so "empty" until she reads Sakiko's message (and feels seen by her, thus breaking her out of that state; I also want to mention she never messaged Sakiko first despite having her phone number, which to me is such an explicit example of her feeling like she doesn't exist unless someone else contacts her first that you may as well have a bright red arrow pointing at it), and on the right we can see her matching Sakiko's energy)
And actually, she almost implies as much to Mana directly.
"It's easy for me to sing when I'm with you, Mana-chan." On the surface, this just seems like something she's saying to make her excitable partner happy, to show agreement even though she's exhausted and not nearly as excited as she is. Mana reacts, calling it a compliment. But is it really? Her wording here is deliberate: she can only sing well because she's with her. Because she's being seen by someone else. Watching all of their scenes, I can't shake the feeling that Uika would not "shine" as an idol without Mana by her side. Immediately before this, Mana's happily waving and thanking the filming crew while Uika gives them a more heartless nod. Uika's appeal as an idol is that she's "cool" (this is written on her character bio), so it's not that I would expect her to match Mana's energy in that sense (who's appeal is her energy)... but I do wonder what she would be like in this context without Mana, given she already seems rather tense even with her. (Here's an easily missable clip of her sighing the second she's alone)
What about her comforting Tomori? Surely that was the one scene where she was acting of her own emotions? And what about when she talked to her in the final episode? It's not as if she was matching Tomori's energy 1:1! She reached out to her on her own!
And maybe that's true. However, consider this: that happened after she got Sakiko back in her life. Is an empty husk still just a shell if the one who's there to look at her―and bring her to life―is by her side now?
Let's take a closer look at these scenes though, shall we?
The planetarium. Uika was there to look at the stars, which are reflective of her childhood memories with Sakiko. Then, she finds Tomori, who she recognizes as being from Crychic (because she attended their concert a year ago). I could believe it if she sat next to her because Tomori looked upset; Tomori has subtle facial expressions yes, but it's pretty obvious when she's hurt. She decides to sit next to her, but her seat won't recline (I've seen people point out that she's been there before, so she surely would have known how to put the seat down; I think this is very funny and could be true, though I do want to point out Tomori said "this seat works like this" and Uika was sitting in a different seat than we saw in episode 8 anyway). Tomori helps her and they make indescribable eye contact briefly before they go back to watching the stars.
Then she kept an eye on her when they left and caught her on the stairs. Pretty standard stuff. From the get-go though, she was matching Tomori's energy. This is really subtle and more obvious in motion, but when she's asking if Tomori's okay, Tomori's head dips down twice, and each time Tomori's head dips, Uika's dips down a second or two later to match her.
If it was just once, I wouldn't think anything of it, but twice? Why is she studying her reaction this closely to the point of replicating it?
Then this happens, and I'll just leave my commentary from a year ago because it still applies:
Uika stares at Tomori and the Crychic photo that she saw on their social media comes to mind. She focuses in on Sakiko and Tomori... but moreso Sakiko. This kind of goes under the radar as it comes across as her bringing up stars because she knows it's something Tomori clearly likes and thus could be a bridge of conversation between them, so to speak, but I can't shake the fact that thinking about Sakiko was what prompted her to start talking about the stars she can see in Tokyo. Sakiko, who she was separated from for so long and who she was only able to reunite with in Tokyo.
(As a side note before I continue, this conversation makes me wonder how familiar she is with Tokyo. I'm not well-versed in Japan's geography nor do we really know anything about Uika's personal life, but I do know she lived on an island as a kid because she says Sakiko visited her island. It's also her chat icon)
Another easily missable detail, but when she picks up Tomori's notes, she waits a second for Tomori to give "consent" (via eye contact) before she continues talking. I'll also just mention here that I do think Uika meant what she said about singing being something that conveys someone's heart, and I feel like this was the most honest she was in the entire show.
Moving on to the episode 13 confrontation. I'll be honest, this whole interaction is very weird and as I'm typing up this post I'm still not sure what to make of a lot of it.
Once again, Uika is in the planetarium, this time in the same seat she was in for episode 8 before she met up with Sakiko (starting to see a theme here). Then she spots Tomori and grabs her shoulder, calling her Tomori-chan. Tomori seems confused so she checks that it really is "Tomori" and says they met there before. She does the same thing she did in episode 10 where when Tomori shifts her head, she shifts hers too while she's talking to her.
I like this shot because it feels like she instantly goes into "handsome" mode when she realizes this girl is a fan of "Sumimi's Uika."
This is where this interaction gets weird, because Tomori says she doesn't know who Uika is, and Uika responds with... "I'm glad she doesn't." Huh? Even Anon herself says "Huh?" out loud here. I could not possibly give you an explanation for why Uika would be "glad" that Tomori doesn't know who she is. Why is she trying to get close with her if she doesn't care that Tomori doesn't know her?
Then she asks if Tomori's song worked and Tomori says yes. It still feels like she's trying to gauge her feelings (but for what?). Then she claims she doesn't know Tomori, they just "met at the planetarium before." Anon seems pretty weirded out still. Then she changes the subject and asks if the two of them are in a band. When Anon shows her her phone, which has all the band members listed, she stares at it for a second before asking if she can follow.
(Anon's face being cut off here is interesting to me given this is from Uika's point of view, and really what could be so interesting in that photo?)
The length in which she stares at it makes me think this is likely how she learned MyGO exists, though I can't really piece together what she gets out of this aside from knowing what band Tomori is in. Then she asks if she can follow them and leaves. The whole interaction feels so pointless yet so deliberate: we didn't get closure on Taki's character arc in this episode, but we got this scene of Uika following MyGO's social media account? I'll be interested in seeing how this is relevant later on.
Oh, and the most important part of this scene: Tomori never told Uika her name. Anon is visibly weirded out by this. Of course, this scene is also followed by another shot of Uika not having to match anyone's energy, looking stern as she seems to whenever she's by herself. (She's looking at Crychic's social media page and commenting on how Tomori is from Sakiko's old band, by the way; how did she pull that up so fast? She just sat down?)
Uika and Tomori are narrative opposites. The director for the anime stated that Uika is her polar opposite in every regard. Ricochi also pointed out that while Tomori's songs turn her human, Uika's turn her into a monster. Their episode 10 confrontation was intended to be them meeting before the Ave Mujica ball gets rolling, so to speak, in order to allow them to contrast greater when the sequel comes out.
In general, what I make of Uika's cheerfulness is it's reflective of something Ricochi said in regards to Ave Mujica as a whole: like the moon, she can't shine on her own, but when others look at her, a light glistens from her. It almost makes me wonder if she wanted to become an idol in order to, like she said in her introduction clip with Mana, "make others feel better too" with her songs, at an attempt to mask the fact she can't shine when she's alone herself.
Those are the biggest points I wanted to articulate, so below I'll drop some other observations.
Regarding the flashback scene of Uika and Sakiko as kids... Uika is blushing here when Sakiko is not.
Normally I wouldn't think anything of this, because that's just how the models are (for instance, Sakiko's casual clothes model seems to always have the blush regardless of her mood, while Oblivionis of course doesn't; Uika's model also doesn't have a constant blush), but this scene was hand drawn. It's more deliberate. I don't want to insinuate that this implies Uika cares more about Sakiko than Sakiko cares about Uika because I don't think that's what they meant here at all, just that these specific memories may hold different meaning to Uika than they do for Sakiko. Perhaps more importantly though (and even less obvious) is that Uika's hair looks longer in the shot of them looking at the stars than it was for their meeting and the bug catching. It makes you wonder how much time may have passed between those two memories. (I do recognize this may have just been a continuity error of sorts, but she is wearing a different outfit too)
In Sakiko's conversation to Nyamu, she hints that she got Uika for her band because of Sumimi's popularity. This is interesting to me because in episode 7, she absolutely... glares? at the Sumimi music video.
...Which makes you wonder how she really felt looking at it. In any case, I don't think it was just for the fame because you don't exactly call somebody and tell them to help you forget everything if it's just for the money. That's a pretty intimate thing to ask somebody, and especially for Sakiko who up until then had been actively avoiding speaking anything from her heart. We also know that Uika does the lyrics for Ave Mujica, so we can truly only make guesses as to what transpired between their talk and the final episode...
Oh, also, when Sakiko calls Uika, she blushes. Which feels pretty notable to me when seconds beforehand she was in "cool, kind of broody idol" mode.
As for the last episode...
When Nyamu asks if she can go to Uika's place, she says yes! It makes you wonder how close she is with everyone by this point, and also what her home life looks like.
This one is sold on the voice work, but she sounds super happy to get to see Sakiko.
This also happens at the end of the episode, when she asks if she can ride the train home with Sakiko despite the fact she got there in a cab. I wrote my thoughts about this here, but it is interesting to me how it implies she might not know about Sakiko's home life at this point.
For this line, it's not lost on me how similar this dialogue is in reflection to what Doloris says in their stage play immediately after; with Oblivionis talking about them being dolls, and Doloris questioning her every word. It's as if she'd turned into Doloris the second she put her mask on...
Tying it all together
What's striking to me is that in all the trailers for the Ave Mujica anime―which by all means will be where we learn more about Uika―we've only seen one shot of her.
The rest have been Doloris. From this we can presume that the doll lore from their concerts will be relevant to the actresses, we just don't know to what extent.
It's scary really, because... seriously, even if Uika does feel like an empty shell, there's more to it than just that. And despite all of my analysis up until this point, I have not a single clue what her actual deal could be. Even after I post this, I'll continue to watch her scenes over and over, trying to piece things together with what little we have right now.
I'll be very interested to see both Doloris and Uika in the upcoming anime, and in what ways the lines between them are blurred.
Summary: Connie has been in love with you since college when you were living next door to each other in the dorms. He’s consoled you through countless of breakups and heard you in all your casual hookups. It hasn’t been easy for him and after graduation, he decides to move overseas in an attempt to get over you, cutting off all contact without explanation. Three years of radio silence later and the two of you finally reunite.
Author’s Notes: Inspired by one of AugustInTheWinter’s Patreon exclusive audios. Honestly, so so good, if you have the ability to do so, subscribe to him, it is so worth the money. Anyways, thanks for this request for the y2k karaoke party! I love this song. Enjoy!
If you told Connie Springer five years ago that you wanted to spend the night, he would have agreed, no question. Today, as he anticipates your arrival, he almost regrets saying yes.
A week ago, you contacted him, asking if you could stay at his place for the weekend while you’re here visiting. He checks the last text you sent him; it was five months ago, wishing him happy birthday. The one before that was exactly a year earlier, another birthday greeting. Your messages were more frequent then, but they gradually faded, probably because Connie never replied to any of them.
He's not trying to be a dick. He’s just too much of a coward to admit that he’s doing his best to get over you. And if that means ignoring you completely, so be it. At what cost, though? Losing his best friend?
This time, he actually does respond to you. Maybe it’s because after three years of being apart, he finally feels ready to face you again. Tonight will be the test. Is this really the best idea for him?
You knock on his front door, weekender bag in hand, heart beating faster, excited to see him. The last time was graduation when he told you that he’d be moving away to Marley for his new job. He didn’t even tell you that he was applying to companies overseas, so of course, you were shocked. Your friendship hasn’t been the same since. You used to be inseparable; now, you’ve never felt further apart.
He greets you politely when he answers the door, that familiar face instantly putting you at ease, despite the distance that’s grown between you. “Hey.”
“Hi, stranger,” you say, hugging him with your free arm. He’s tense when you touch him, not like his usual self. That’s one thing you always loved about Connie; how snugly he would hold you in his arms. It’s already awkward, but you continue to smile at him, hoping that whatever this tension is dissipates soon.
He leads you inside, taking your bag, setting it on the floor by one of the closed rooms. “Do you want a drink?”
“What do you have?” you ask, looking around his apartment, trying to find any remnants of your friendship. Pictures, ticket stubs from all the movies you watched together, all the little trinkets you’d get him as gifts for his birthdays. Nothing, there’s nothing in here. It barely looks decorated at all, except for a few posters he’s crookedly hung up.
“I’ve got water and some White Claws that have been festering in there since I moved here. Pick your poison.”
You laugh, happy to hear this side of him. “I’ll take the water, thanks.” You sit down on the couch, not sure where to start. “How have you been?”
He grabs a clean glass, turning the faucet on until your cup is almost filled to the brim. He carefully hands it to you, sitting as far away from you on the couch as possible. You shift in your seat, facing him, waiting for his answer. “Good. I’m good,” he says, avoiding your gaze, staring at the floor instead.
You take a sip of water, expecting him to elaborate more, but he doesn’t. “Do you like living here? In Marley?”
He shrugs. “It’s okay. There’s not that much more going on here than there is in Paradis.”
“Do you think you’ll ever move back home?”
He crosses his arms over his chest, guarded. “I don’t have any reason to, so probably not.”
“Well, I can think of one reason,” you say. “I miss you.”
His jaw clenches, defenses still up. You scoot closer, wanting this distance to disappear, physically and figuratively. You’ve been waiting for this reunion since he left, since he stopped contacting you almost completely. Wanting to finally make it right with him, the way it should have been ever since you first became close to him in college. You knew he liked you; he was always so obvious about it. And yes, deep down, you liked him too. But you were scared of ruining your friendship, of losing your best friend. You were so used to all your relationships ending in a breakup, you were afraid to cross that line with Connie in fear of losing him forever. When you finally mustered the courage to confess to him on the night of graduation, he told you he’d be moving to Marley for work. Because of your cowardice, you ended losing him anyways. But you won’t let tonight go to waste. You’ll do everything you can to salvage this. Even after all these years of distance between you, you won’t make the same mistakes again.
You close the gap, squeezing next to him on the couch. He glares at you. “What are you doing?”
“I miss you, Connie,” you whine, trying to free his arms from his chest. “Don’t you miss me?”
He shakes his head, relaxing only the slightest bit. “No, I don’t. I’ve worked too hard trying not miss you.”
“What do you mean?”
He finally looks at you, his gaze intense. “I moved because of you. I couldn’t take it anymore, watching you fall in love with every other guy except for me.”
“Connie.”
He unclenches, leaning towards you, face so close you can feel his breath on you as he speaks. “Do you know how hard it was for me? To hear you on the other side of the wall, moaning someone else’s name? And then months later, you’d come crying to me, wanting only my comfort to help you through your breakup. Then the cycle would just repeat over and over, driving me fucking insane because I could never have you for myself. I could only have you when you needed me, when you were heartbroken. Well, it wasn’t fucking fair okay? That’s why I left. I just couldn’t do it anymore.”
You stare back at him, wide-eyed, heart thumping loudly in your chest. Quietly, you say, “I’m sorry, Connie. I…I didn’t know.”
He scoffs at you, rolling his eyes. “Don’t lie to me. Why else would you come to me? You knew I was the only guy stupid enough to always say yes to you. So don’t fucking lie to me now and say that you didn’t know. You knew.”
You swallow hard before asking, “Why didn’t you say something?”
“Why would I? So I can get rejected and ruin our friendship? No. As much as I hated hearing you get fucked on the other side of the wall, I couldn’t stand not having you at all. Pretty fucked up, right?”
You remain still in your seat, unsure how to proceed from this. Eventually, he says, “You can stay here for the weekend, but I think it’s best if we just stop seeing each other after this, okay? It’s better for the both of us if we stop being friends.”
Before he can stand up to leave, you grab his wrist. “Well, good,” you whisper. “I don’t want to be friends anymore either.” You meet his lips with yours for a kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck. He melts into you, his tongue slipping inside your mouth, easing into it. Realizing what’s happening, he pushes you off gently, stuttering, “What do you think you’re doing?”
You trail down his neck, sucking on his skin to leave love marks. “What I should have years ago.”
“You’re toying with me,” he whispers, closing his eyes, tipping your chin up to kiss you again. “Teasing me like you did all those times in college.”
“I’m not. I want it. I want you.” You lie back on the couch, spreading your legs for him.
He crawls on top of you, sliding your pants and underwear off simultaneously, dropping them to the floor, salivating at the sight of your glistening cunt, wet with arousal. “Well, too bad. I don’t need you anymore. You won’t get what you want so easily this time. Not after all the torment you put me through. You need a taste of your own medicine first.” He shoves his sweats down, releasing his hard cock from his boxers, stroking it in his fist. With a shaky breath, he whispers, “Come on. Show me how badly you want it.”
You peer up at him, getting on all fours, opening your mouth with your tongue sticking out. He smirks, tracing the outline of your lips with the tip of his dick, smearing his precum on you like gloss. “Fuck, never thought I’d see you like this.” He guides himself inside you, exhaling deeply as he slides all the way to the back of your throat, cursing once more. You give him what he wants, never taking your gaze off him, guzzling down his cock with each thrust he gives you, bobbing your head along his shaft.
“Damn, you feel even better than I imagined,” he moans, bucking his hips. After a couple more deep thrusts, you pull off quickly to catch your breath, wiping away the saliva leaking from your lips. “Hey, are you okay? Are you hurt?” he asks in that concerned tone you love so much. He sounds exactly like he did in college, when he would cradle you gently in his arms as you cried about your latest heartbreak, completely oblivious to how much pain it caused him to see you like this. Connie would never break your heart; it took you too long to finally realize this. And maybe it’s too late to fix the damage that’s been done. But that doesn’t mean you won’t try.
You nod silently, reaching for the coffee table to take a sip of water. He wipes the tears from your eyes, brushing them away with his thumbs. “Are you sure?”
You smile at him, sniffling. “I’m sure, Connie.”
His expression is uncertain again. He doesn’t know whether to stay mad at you or be sweet. He’s always been sweet, and that obviously never worked out for him. If he shows you his mean side, will you stay? Does he even want you to stay?
You surround him again with your mouth, sucking on his cock head with your fist wrapped around his shaft. He closes his eyes, indulging in the pleasure, enjoying it a little too much. He won’t deny it; this has been one of his biggest fantasies since college, to see you like this. To feel you moan around his cock. And as much as he wants to continue spitting hurtful comments to you, make you feel guilty for toying with him all this time, his need to pleasure you overtakes him. His most precious fantasy is to finally hear you moan his name, and no one else’s.
He pulls out of you, jerking off while he tips your chin up to face him. “What do you want, huh? Want my mouth on you? Want me to eat out this pretty pussy? Is that what you want? Because I’ll give it to you, if you let me.” He’s desperate for it now, and so are you. So all you do is nod with your mouth still open, needy for it.
He eats you out sloppily, better than any guy you’ve been with. This is what he wanted, to prove to you that it should have been him all those times. And you regret it, all the useless hookups and casual relationships you put yourself through when you could have been with Connie instead. You come twice from his mouth before you start begging him to fuck you. “Please, baby.”
His eyes widen at the pet name, cock throbbing, ready to burst. “Okay, sweetie,” he huffs, composure wavering. “I’ll fuck you. I’ll give you what you want. I’m always giving you what you want.”
You hold him tightly, moaning his name while he fucks you with your legs wrapped around him. “You’re so good for me, baby. So fucking good for me,” he groans, drilling into you hard and fast. “I missed you so fucking much.” He orgasms with you, unloading his cum inside you, filling you up. You kiss passionately as the both of you come down from your highs, relaxing into each other’s arms.
It’s silent for a moment before you say, “I was going to tell you. On graduation day.”
“Tell me what?” he asks, grazing your lips with his fingers.
“That I liked you, too. And I wanted us to be together.”
He sighs. “But I told you I was moving, so you didn’t go through with it.”
“Yeah.”
He laughs softly, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Damn, we are really dumb, aren’t we?”
You giggle, nestling your face into his chest, relishing the familiar warmth. “Yeah, we are.”
He rests his chin on the top of your head, massaging your back. “So, should we stop being dumb and finally do this? The right way?”
You nod, smiling. “Yes. Absolutely yes.”
Picnic In The Rain
A part of DEEP series ✧ Pairing: Yoongi x reader ✧ warning(s): bad driving ?
✧ genre: fluff? (idk just got home from work and i'm tired) ✧ word count: a/n: just got home and right away started editing the chapter. I hope you all like it! I reread this over and over, if there are any mistakes...my bad.
Yoongi's 21st birthday
"Don't peek!" y/n says as she quickly glances to see if he had pulled down the blindfold off his face. Yoongi on the other hand was just laying back on the passenger seat taking in the breeze. His senses sharpened, smelling the subtle hint of her perfume mixed with the earthy smell that proved he was right and that it will rain soon. "yeah yeah" he can't help but smile, it was his birthday and she begged him to spend the day with her.
Amused he teased her, saying he had made plans with his friends, she pouted and hid the very visible picnic basket behind her “alright” she gave him a forced smile. Not able to hold back his laughter he breaks character instantly pulling her into a hug.
The car pulls to a sloppy stop making his body jolt forward, his hand reaching for his blindfold but she quickly grabs his arms, pushing them down “No don’t! Sorry I'm still getting used to driving” sighing he doesn’t fight back “I’ll help you out, I’m serious don’t take it off!” running out the car she quickly goes to his side, helping him out.
After walking for what felt like forever, she finally lets go of his arms. Yoongi heard her run off but he stood still and waited. “Ok you can look now!” “Are you sure?” he grins.
“Yes!” Asking again in a teasing tone “Are you really really sure?” groaning she runs back to him, “you’re so childish” without giving him a chance to retort she pulls down his blindfold. As his eyes adjusted to the sudden exposure to light he looked at his very excited friend, her lips curved up into a warm smile as she stared into his eyes. She had set up a rather large picnic blanket, his favorite food spread along with a cake.
The open field with wild flowers surrounding them made him chuckle, it was everything she loved. “Let’s do this quickly, it’s going to rain soon” taking her hand in his he walks towards the blanket.
“Shut up, you’ll jinx it”
After eating the food and a slice of cake he watched her as she stared at the photos in her hand which she had just taken. He stared at the clear sky thinking his sixth sense failed him and it truly wasn’t going to rain. His attention was pulled from her as his phone ringed, taking it out of his pocket and he frowned. Wasting no time he hangs up, “was it your friends? I bet they’re mad right? Since you had plans with them” he grinned, there was a hint of guilt in her eyes but she didn’t know he lied. His friends planned nothing because he told them that the day was yours before you asked.
But before he could tease her, it began to pour. “Oh my god I told you not to jinx it!” she shrills as the two quickly stand up. Running towards the large tree for cover yoongi turns to find her picking up some of the items “are you serious” he yells running back, he grabs her arm.
Under the tree. Both drenched, they look at one another before laughing. "happy birthday" she says for the millionth time, giving her a small smile he pulls her into a hug, gently kissing her forehead "thank you" he felt how she held her breath before giggling as he pinched her ear. "is there something you want?" she suddenly asks, wrapping her arms around his waist. her chin rested on his chest as her eyes looked up at him.
"more?" he chuckles looking back at the destroyed picnic arrangement she had done for him. "this is not a gift, just...what would we call this"
"a mess"
"hey!" she pushes him away, rolling her eyes jokingly.
"i'm serious is there anything you want?" he hums as if thinking, but the anticipation she was feeling broke as he shrugged. annoyed she crosses her arms and looks away. "how can it rain and be sunny at the same time" she mutters.
The sudden wind made her shiver but he stood firm as his eyes never left her. For he did not feel cold at all, her carefree, cheerful, lovely spirit was like a fire. Which attracted a lot of people and even if that did bother him, he never wanted to try and control that fire.
All he needed was to be near it. That was his wish.
Bonjour 💫, I hope this is not adding to a moutain of stuff you have to do but I do remember something that I thought was fun 🌺 And for once it's fluff lmao unless you wanna spice it lol which is fine 😂
Basically Y/n coming to her ( / their ) boyfriend and give them flowers. My favorite characters are too much lol and I don't want to overwhelm putting them all but just to show them ( Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, Denki, Kirishima, Tamaki, Itoshi, Neito, Dabi, Tomura ) but let's just go for the colorful ones because it's a LOT 😂 ( Our boys are the same age as in the season 6 but now I'm thinking that people are not monir anymore and I too 😂 canon personnality because it's cool 💎 )
As awlays no pressure and take your time ( only if you want to write )
Bonsoir ma belle 😘 how about all of them? It was a challenge I'm not gonna lie 😂 I was mainly afraid of repeating myself so I kept going back to reread what I've written so something like that wouldn't happen. I kept their personalities as canon as possible (like I usually do) but I changed a tiny something here, which is their age. I know you requested their canon age but tbh I'm more comfortable making them older (with the exception of Dabi and Shiggy who are already 20+ years old) but you won't really notice the difference so I hope this is fine.
For you
Bakugo :
_ "What's this?" he sounded a bit confused while eying the bouquet you held in your arms.
_ "This is for you, here." you pushed the beautifully selected blooms against his chest and offered him an equally beautiful smile.
_ "Yeah but, what's the occasion?" you were practically able to see the wheels turning in his head as he tried to remember what he could have missed.
Was it his birthday? Valentine's day? Your anniversary? No, it was none of them.
_ "There is this cute little flower shop on my way home, and it sells the most beautiful roses so I wanted to surprise you with this." you seemed incredibly bashful as your head hung low, wondering if he actually hated them, or if he would give you one of his usual snarky remarks.
Your self confidence dropped to the ground in an instant, and you seriously considered playing it off as a joke, however..
_ "You're really cute you know that?" did he really mean those words?
He held the bouquet in one hand and used the other to gently lift your chin up and place a soft peck on your flushed cheek, "I love them, thank you so much beautiful," he murmured faintly, lips gliding along your skin until they reached your smiling ones, "kiss," was his sole warning to you, before stealing your breath away with a deep passionate liplock.
Shouto :
_ "For me?" he blinked innocently, tilting his head to the side.
_ "Yeah! Do you like it?" you were practically jumping in excitement as you watched him hugging the bouquet to his chest.
_ "I do, of course I do, it's from you after all." he replied with a smile as he grabbed your hand and pulled you closer to him.
He did not demand further explanation, didn't need to, he was just happy to receive something as beautiful from you.
His mismatched irises gazed into yours for a moment, a gaze full of love and appreciation, one that you returned with the same sentiments they reflected.
All he wanted at that moment was to kiss you, to feel your warmth against himself, -and so he did- leaning in slowly to capture your anticipating lips.
It was soft, almost as soft as the delicate petals of those beautiful roses you brought for him, and you got lost in it at once.. lost in him.
_ "I'm so happy you liked them Shouto," you breathed out shakily before kissing him again, a gentle peck on the tip of his nose, bringing out that adorable chuckle you loved so much.
_ "I would love anything from you sweetheart."
Kirishima :
"Hi babe, how was your day tell me! I'll be home a bit later than expected today as well and I'll bring food with me so just relax until I'm there. I love you."
You reread his text and sighed in despair as you gazed at the beautiful roses you picked out for him. He's been working long hours lately and it's been affecting him greatly, but even in the midst of it all, he still made sure to call and text you throughout the day to make sure you're doing well.
You wanted to do something nice for him, to try and alleviate the stress he must be feeling lately which is why you purchased that beautiful bouquet as you wished to see that bright smile on his face while presenting it to him, "I have to see him now." you were determined, and couldn't possibly wait until he comes home, so you decided to surprise him instead.
You drove back to his agency, accompanied by a warm meal that you made in a jiffy, in addition to your special little gift..
You knocked on his door after asking his assistant not to notify him of your presence since you wanted to surprise him.
_ "Yeah come in." your heart dropped hearing how tired he sounded, but you kept your smile for him nonetheless.
_ "Is this a bad time Mr Kirishima?" your cheerful voice came as soon as you opened the door, and those were the only words you could utter before being engulfed in his arms.
It happened in a flash that all you could do was allow him to hold and kiss you all over your face.
_ "Alright alright let me breathe Eijiro!" you couldn't control your giggles as you pretended to suffocate in his strong hold.
_ "I'm sorry gorgeous, I'm just so happy to see you." and it wasn't until then that he took notice of what you were carrying.
_ "Oh yeah, I brought dinner and.. something else." you couldn't control your nerves as you handed him the bouquet, taking advantage of the food packs in your hand to change the subject, "oh, so guess what's for dinner!"
_ "This is for me? You brought this for me?" he was clearly not talking about food as his bright eyes admired the bouquet.
_ "Do you like them? You deserve so much more Eijiro." you kissed his cheek and watched as his smile grew wider.
_ "I'm the happiest man alive because you're mine."
Izuku :
You were excited the whole way home as you kept imagining his reaction to your little gift. He would be a blushing mess, -that part was already guaranteed- but what would he say?
_ Y/n.. you brought those, for.. for me?" you guessed right, he was in fact timid as he nervously held the bouquet in his arms.
_ "What do you think of it Izuku? Do you like it? I just wanted to do something nice for you." and at that moment, he wasn't the only one blushing, since the same soft pink shade that was dusting his cheeks duplicated itself onto your own as you spoke.
_ "What.. of course I love them! They're beautiful! I just can't believe you thought of me that much.." he looked adorable as he attempted to hide his face behind the bouquet.
You took a step closer and tried to move the roses -separating you from each other- away, so you could look at him clearly.
You were tempted to fluster him a bit more, as you placed a small peck on his quivering jaw, and another on his heated cheek, "I just wanted to see this cute look on your face Izuku." you murmured faintly, lips caressing his skin and ghosting over his own.
_ "That's mean. Still, I love your gift and I'm about to show you just how grateful I am." and with that, his cute bashful demeanor was instantly replaced with a primal desire that sent blissful goosebumps all over your body.
Hitoshi :
_ "Hitoshi! Are you home?" you called out for your boyfriend as soon as you stepped into your apartment, hoping he would show up and tell you that he's been waiting for you.
And he did, emerging from the bathroom all wet and steamy, wearing nothing but a towel that hung low around his waist. And for a moment you forgot how to speak as your eyes studied his flexing muscles.
_ "Welcome home babe! Oh, what's that you're holding?" he approached you casually, unaware of the indecent thoughts dancing in your head, but you somehow snapped back to your senses and replied quickly.
_ "These are for you, no particular reason I just wanted to get you something pretty." your eyes were locked on the delicate roses as you did not trust the blush threatening to creep up your face.
_ "Something pretty huh? Well I already have you," he spoke suggestively, placing an arm around your waist and pulling you flush against him, forcing the bouquet to squish between your bodies.
_ "Hitoshi, stop it." you meant to scold him for paying little attention to the roses you picked so carefully for him, but your words came out in a little whine that amused the man in front of you.
_ "I'm sorry, but you're so fun to tease," his chuckles were muffled against your forehead as he kissed you gently before moving back to gaze into your eyes, "I really love them sweetheart, you never cease to surprise me."
Shigaraki :
You tiptoed your way out of his room after leaving something unexpected on his bed, you didn't know how he would react to your gift, and didn't dare hand it to him personally so you left it in his room secretly when he wasn't looking.
_ "Y/n, what are you doing here? Were you looking for me?" his voice startled you but you faked nonchalance as you giggled nervously.
_ "Yeah I was.. but it's nothing! I'll see you later." you tried to flee the scene but he was a lot faster than you were, grasping your arm and pinning you in place.
_ "What's the matter y/n? Is everything okay?" he studied your face and awaited a response that never came, "alright come with me."
He dragged you along into his room and closed the door behind you two, and before he could turn around to face you, something strange caught his attention.
_ "Are those.. roses?" he was confused for a moment, brows knitted as he tried to comprehend, until finally everything started making sense in his head, "oh, so that's why you were acting weird huh?"
You gritted your teeth and braced yourself for a scolding or a mockery, but what came instead left you wide eyed and speechless.
_ "They smell really good, I like them." he declared with a smile, holding the colorful blooms in his arms.
You were still quiet, wondering if that wasn't just a figment of your imagination, until you felt his rough palm caressing your cheek, "thank you darling, they're beautiful."
Amajiki :
You giggled softly, leaning against the doorframe and watching him sleep peacefully.
It has been hectic for him lately, with more night shifts added to his already cramped schedule, leaving him with minimal time to relax and even lesser to be with you.
You missed each other too much that even the regular phone calls were no longer enough for either of you, but today was a rare day off for him, one that you decided to take full advantage of.
_ "Tamaki, can you hear me sweetheart?" you felt a little bad for interrupting his well needed shut eye, but you honestly wanted to see and talk to him.
He groaned against his pillow, still unaware of your presence, until you sat down by his side and caressed his bare shoulder.
_ "Tamaki, can you open your eyes for a moment baby?" you whispered your plea and leaned in to kiss his warm skin.
_ "Y/n, hi sweetie.." he slurred a reply while rubbing the sleep from his eyes and blinking repeatedly until you came into focus.
He looked so cute that you couldn't help kissing his pouty lips, "I'm sorry for waking you Tamaki but I promise this won't take long, I just want to give you something and I couldn't wait until later."
_ "What.. yes of course, what is it?" he sat up -still a bit confused- but something in your lap caught his attention, it was a gorgeous bouquet you specifically went out earlier to buy.
_ "This is for you, I hope you like it," you averted your gaze and bit down on your lip nervously, "you have been down lately because of work so I wanted to make you.. smile."
You felt his hand on yours, squeezing lightly, "you did this for me?" and it was barely above a whisper.
You nodded slowly, finally turning around to face him, and placed the beautiful blossoms on the nightstand next to him before standing back up and preparing to leave, "that was all, you can go back to sleep now and I'll wake you up when dinner is ready."
_ "Don't go!" he grabbed your arm and pulled you down again, "stay with me, and don't worry about food, we'll order something later."
You couldn't say 'no' to him, not when he was looking at you with those big hopeful eyes.
You slipped underneath the covers with him, burying your face in the crook of his neck and relaxing in his hold.
_ "Thank you they're beautiful, just like you."
Dabi :
_ "What part of me makes you think that I'm a flower boy?" he looked unimpressed, crossing his arms over his chest as he spoke.
You knew he would react in that exact same way when you decided to buy him roses on your way to see him, so why were you hurt by his words then?
_ "Yeah I know, sorry.. you can throw them away or burn them or whatever." you placed the bouquet on his couch and took a deep breath as you tried to ignore the sharp sting in your heart.
He was right though, roses? For him? The more you thought about it the dumber you felt, so honestly, you were the one to blame..
_ "I'm sorry Touya, let's forget about this," you feigned a smile as you approached him again, "so how was your day? Anything interesting?" you were on the verge of tears as you desperately tried to change the subject, but he saw right through you.
His eyes moved between your pained expression and the forgotten roses that he finally decided to pick up, "these aren't that bad I guess." in reality, he hated them, he hated how disgustingly bright and delicate they were, but what he hated the most was being the reason of your dejection, so if accepting them would bring back your smile, then so be it.
You were so easy to read, so simple to fool and for some reason, the twinkle illuminating your eyes, and the smile reappearing on your face after hearing his words, warmed his heart and relieved him.
So maybe you weren't the only fool there, maybe he was one too, a fool for you.
Monoma :
_ "Oh, these are for me?" he expressed smugly while that usual annoying smirk -that you loved so much- was plastered across his face, "well I guess I deserve them right?" and there it was, that obnoxious laugh again.
_ "Come on don't be a jerk, I knew this was a bad idea," you shook your head and crossed your arms over your chest as you started regretting what you've done, "everyone said I could do better, but I picked you instead." you tried as much as you could to keep a straight face and stifle your laughter.
_ "Of course you did gorgeous, I'm the best of them."
He's a conceited self-centered asshole, so bringing him a gift with no particular occasion would only boost his arrogance. You knew that, but you still wanted to do something nice for him because even a jerk like him still made you happy, he's the love of your life after all.
_ "Yeah yeah I get it." you still feigned annoyance, but deep down you were actually amused.
_ "I'm sorry sweetheart, come here," his chuckles resumed as he dragged you close, nuzzling your neck and breathing in your scent, "hmm.. sweet," his lips lingered there, right above your pulse, and his free arm pulled you even closer to his chest while the other one held the bouquet, "they're beautiful and I love them, thank you love." and that was a rare moment of humbleness that he only dares to show you because you're the one who owns his heart.
Denki :
_ "Yes! Die you bastard! If you think you've got a chance against Chargebolt then you're clearly dreaming!" his loud shouts reached the outside of your shared apartment where you stood, and you let out a knowing chuckle before opening the front door and walking in.
Your days off are usually lazy, warm and cozy, and it's a nice change of pace from your usual stressful lives as pro heroes, which is why you two prefer to spend that precious free time doing typical ordinary things.
_ "I'm back honey!" you called out for him as you placed your shopping bags at the entrance, except for one thing that you kept holding in your arms.
He clearly couldn't hear you due to all of the infernal shooting and explosions coming from the game he was focused on, so you called again and this time it worked.
_ "Oh! Y/n you're back sweetheart!" he seemed like a little puppy who's excited for his owner's return, throwing his game console away and running up to you, "did you have a good time with the girls? I missed you so much! You were gone for so long!" yes, a little puppy.
He was so happy to see you that he failed to notice the colourful roses you held in your arms, until you pushed the fragrant blooms to his chest with a smile, "I'm sorry for being late, here is an apology gift." it was merely an excuse so you would see that sparkle in his eyes.
_ "These are amazing!" he took them off your hands, peppering your cheeks, nose and forehead with sweet little kisses, "you're the best y/n," was what he whispered to you before finally connecting your lips.
Better Than Cake | Matt x Reader
I am absolutely ECSTATIC to write this for you, love! Consider it MY early birthday present to you! I definitely agree that Matt is under represented in the Eddsworld x Reader realm, so please don't hesitate to request him from me anytime that you'd like! I don't bite, promise! I'm a little inexperienced with writing gender neutral readers, but I've read plenty, so hopefully I can do justice in this one! Enjoy, and Happy Birthday, Anon!
Warnings: Matt is a bimbo, love him to death, he is THE girl's girl (and also non-binary's girl ofc <3) this is just pure fluff, angst if you squint, body dysphoria if you squint, but its a very short moment and the drabble is overall happy and sweet
Words: Nearly 1.5k
---
"Matt, what is all this about?"
You bit your tongue gently, trying to swallow back the giddy giggles as you looked over your bed. Sitting on the mattress were three boxes wrapped in Matt's favorite lavender wrapping paper. One was thin but long, one was average sized, and the third was smaller.
Matt leaned against the door frame of your room, trying his best - and failing - to hide the excited grin on his face.
"What does it look like, lovie?"
You turned and pouted at Matt. By now, you were well accustomed to his habit of gift-giving. That didn't stop you from feeling a tad guilty about it every time. And this just felt excessive.
"Matt, really, you didn't have to get me anything at all, let alone three things-"
He snorted, rolling his eyes playfully.
"Nonsense. Of course I'm going to get you birthday presents. Besides, those are only part of your presents."
You felt your face burn.
"What? What do you mean? There's more?"
Matt let himself laugh now, standing up straight.
"You'll see. Now I'll leave you to open them. Let me know if you have any trouble getting those on."
He was out of the room before you could question him, shutting the door behind him. You blinked in the silence of your room. 'Have trouble getting those on'? What could he possibly mean by that?
Your eyes drifted back to the boxes on your bed.
No…
He didn't…
…did he?
Trembling slightly from anticipation, you slowly opened the first box, the long one. Inside, amongst the gift tissue, was a silky fabric of your favorite color. Internally, a part of you grimaced. You didn't mean to be ungrateful, really. You loved Matt to death. But… part of you couldn't help but be disappointed that he had gotten you another dress. Still, you'd wear it to make him happy.
You paused when you lifted up the fabric out of the box. It wasn't a dress. It was… pants. Dress pants. Really nice dress pants. Huh?
You looked in the box again. There was more. You took it all out, and your breath caught in your throat. The dress pants came with a matching sweater vest and crème colored button down shirt. There was a lump in your chest that you fought to keep down.
There were still two more boxes, anyway. You couldn't imagine what else Matt could have gotten you.
Next, you opened the average sized box. A bottle of cologne. The glass was round, and you could see a purple tint in the glass. When you tested it out, you were met with a citrus-y scent. You couldn't stop the soft laugh that left you. It was the same cologne that Matt used. You had mentioned to him several times before that you loved how he smelled. He remembered.
The last box, the little one, completely took your breath away. Inside was a gold chain with a little round gold pendant engraved with an image of iris flowers, as well as a pair of matching gold earrings, the dangling chains ended with small purple butterflies.
It was all… beautiful. Your chest ached as you realized just how happy you were.
Part of you was tempted to run out the door, hunt down Matt, and kiss him until he couldn't breathe. But then his words echoed in your head. He wanted you to try the outfit on. And, well, you couldn't refuse, could you?
You must have been staring at yourself in the mirror for about 10 minutes, taking in how you looked in the outfit. Emotions sat heavy in your lungs, and you felt tears brimming in your eyes. For the first time in a long time, you felt… like yourself. You looked at your reflection and it was you. Really you.
A knock on your door broke you out of your trance.
"You alright in there, lovie? If you're having any trouble getting it on, I can-"
You didn't let Matt finish the thought.
You threw open the door, throwing your arms around his torso tightly. Matt gave a little 'oof' in surprise, but quickly wrapped his arms around you tightly.
"I'm guessing you like it, then?"
Matt must not have expected you to be crying, because when you pulled away and he saw your misty eyes, a panicked expression crossed his face. You gave him a bright, reassuring smile.
"I love it. All of it. So much. Thank you."
Content that your tears were of happiness, Matt's eyes swept down your body, inspecting the outfit he had gifted you. When his eyes met yours again, you saw nothing but pure affection in those baby blues. You fidgeted under that look, shyly looking down at the shoes that you had paired with the outfit.
Matt's finger hooked gently under your chin, tilting your head up until you were once again looking into his eyes. He smiled so sweetly.
"You look positively radiant, lovie."
You couldn't stop the giggle from escaping you now. Your entire body buzzed from how giddy you felt. Matt, still smiling, tapped your nose lightly.
"Are you ready to go?"
Go?
You focused more closely on Matt now. He was wearing black dress pants and a lilac button down shirt. You felt your eye twitch when you noticed that the top two buttons were undone, revealing a peek of the pale, freckled skin underneath. He was also holding a bouquet of blue-purple iris flowers.
Matt snickered at your confused look.
"I'm taking you out on a birthday dinner."
That explained the outfit, and his. But…
"What's with the iris flowers?"
Not only had he gotten you a bouquet of them, but the necklace he gifted you was also engraved with them.
"Iris flowers are a symbol of admiration. ..among other things, all good!! Sure, there are other flowers with romantic meanings, but I thought it would be cute to grab these, since they're purple, and purple is like… my thing…"
His confidence faltered slightly as he rambled, seemingly unsure. You waved your hands in the air between you.
"They're perfect, Matt. I think they're wonderful."
His chest puffed out in pride as you took the bouquet from them. He followed you down to the kitchen, waiting patiently as you somehow found a vase to put the flowers in. Minorly, you wondered if the vase was from Edd's ex girlfriend that you had heard about.
"What the hell are you two all dressed up for?"
Tom leaned against the kitchen doorway. He was poorly hiding a pack of cigarettes behind his back.
"We're going out tonight. Tell Edd that we'll be back after dinner. Also, don't let him catch you with those. You know how pissed he'll be."
Tom huffed at Matt's words, but didn't dispute it.
"I'll let him know where you are."
He glanced at you.
"You look great in that. Have fun, mate."
A warm feeling spread in your chest at the compliment.
Matt turned to you and extended an arm with a grin.
With a grin of your own, you took his arm.
--
The restaurant that Matt had brought you to was nicer than you had expected. It wasn't anything that you could see celebrities or the upper class citizens dining at, but it was definitely very formal. You were given a table at the window, with a lovely view of the city skyline, watching the setting sun as you ate. Matt insisted on ordering a bottle of champagne, not listening to any of your half-hearted protests. It was sweet and bubbly, and every sip made your body feel warm. Matt made sure you didn't drink too much, though.
You were so busy enjoying the last bit of your food, looking out at the moon, to notice what Matt was doing. When he gave a quiet, displeased hum, you looked back over at him.
"What's wrong?"
Matt was focused on the little dessert menu that had been left on the table. His eyebrows were furrowed slightly.
"Of all the fancy sweets they've got, there's not a single cake option."
For possibly the hundredth time that night, you laughed softly. Your hand found his across the table, hands intertwining gently. He looked back up at you, love dancing in his eyes.
"That's alright, pretty boy. Tonight has been more than lovely enough to make up for that. You've made this the most perfect birthday I've ever had."
Matt set aside the dessert menu, taking your hand in both of his. He brought it up and pressed his lips to your knuckles in a tender kiss.
"Just you wait, lovie. I plan to make every birthday better than the last. Nothing but the best for my significant other."
If it was possible, you felt yourself falling even deeper in love with him.
"Let's go home, Matt."
A Day Off
Hallelujah! What a perfect day. I worked until six o'clock on Wednesday and practically danced out of the library. I have been rotating between the information desk and the circulation desk and the good citizens of this county have worn me out. The last several days have been a bit wonky. There were ten thousand calls asking if we have free eclipse glasses -we didn't, but could direct you to a place that does and/or provide instructions for making your own viewer out of a cereal box and aluminum foil. There was an event giving away free laptops to qualifying residents that was like the last flight out of Saigon. In the words of an unflappable coworker, "There was chaos in every corner of the building." Don't even get me started about Mercury being in retrograde. Like I said, wonky. Saturday was actually quite nice because it was opening day for Little League and there was a parade down Market Street with plenty of cute kids. When I arrived home on Saturday the Edgewater gang showed up and we celebrated Mr. Pullen's birthday. Jamie and I convinced the fellas to accompany us to a greenhouse to hunt for some plants, a greenhouse that the grandgirl said was "in the middle of nowhere". She wasn't wrong. We came home with lots of lovelies for the gardens, a successful trip! This is my favorite picture snapped over the weekend. Tyler and Jamie in a chess battle on the front porch. Never say it's not exciting around here.
I was back to work on Monday (eclipse day) for three busy days, and now I'm free! We delayed our trip to Lancaster for a day to let the bad weather blow through, so we'll leave in the morning, stay over Friday night, and come home later on Saturday. I'm anticipating some fun. Speaking of fun, here's another photo I loved. I'm pretty sure that I'm allowed to post this because she's masked. No one could ever identify her from this photo (and I've been good for six years). I'll delete if they ask. Anyway, this is our little miss on Monday. Isn't it cute pic?
Fast forward to today and I've shed all of the work nonsense and I'm feeling quite content. I spent the entire morning weeding and preparing flower beds, then planting some of the pretties that I picked up at Ball Greenhouses last week. I know I'm early, but these are hardy girls. If Mother Nature turns fickle I'll just be the crazy lady running around tossing sheets over gardens. Wouldn't be the first time. It's a small price to pay for the happiness of today. Working the dirt and dreaming of the blooms to come was good for my soul. I needed this day. Another little something that has recently delighted me is this stuff.
Because I'm at work for nine hours, I have recently become addicted to sugary, fattening, fancy coffee drinks. I'd zip through Starbucks on my lunch break and pick up an iced caramel macchiato , then I started buying the bottles at the grocery store and filling my big sippy cup (that I normally use for water) in the mornings. I was adding way too many calories to my day. So, I searched for a healthier replacement drink that would still give me the boost - and I found it! I'm not on Atkins or Keto or any of those diets, but I definitely appreciate the low sugar/carb count. This protein shake has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, with added protein and fiber. It's a win! I can have this for breakfast and feel no guilt. Getcha' some! This post is sort of all over the place, sorry about that. I don't have a lot to say and I didn't sit down with a plan. I just opened my laptop and wanted to say hi. I do miss having more time to spend being silly here. The older I get the less I care about being silly. Look at these cool sunglasses I bought in a little shop in Chestertown. Silly for a woman my age? Yes. Do I care? Absolutely not.
I just notice that my name tag for work is all jacked up by my seatbelt. Hope I straightened that out once I got there, but I don't remember doing it. Oops. Several of you have asked about whether or not I'm enjoying my job. It's complicated. I've mentioned my lovely coworkers, I've mentioned that I'm having fun doing the displays, there are plenty of positives. I'm trying to focus on what I have gained and not what I have lost. I do miss having time for hobbies, doing more than work, eat, sleep, repeat. Of course, as I type this I'm looking ahead to three days off - wonderful! The 16th will mark three months in my position, so I do feel I've given it a fair shake...and I just don't know. I'm really pouring a lot of energy, creativity, and effort into this job and I do feel that it's appreciated. They are very nice to me and pay me adequately. I'm just undecided if it's a fair trade for my freedom. I mostly talk about the fun parts, the nice parts, but there are also the not-so-fun parts. A surprising number of books are returned with bed bugs. We have two large "stink boxes" that are usually full of books returned that reek of everything from cigarette smoke, pot, or just general funk. They sit in there with charcoal rocks until they're bearable. Lots of people are rude, really rude. I got used to that when I was in the airline industry, but it doesn't make it any more pleasant. I could go on, couldn't we all? No job is ever perfect, and in the past I tolerated the unpleasant aspects because I had no choice. I don't have to do that anymore. I've been asked to take on some summer programming work - fun activities with kids, outreach booths at festivals, that sort of thing. I'm looking forward to that, and it's been a while since I've had things to look forward to. Well, that's not true. I've had loads of fun family stuff that happened and even a trip to Ireland in the last year, but as far as having something that gives me a chance to actually use my brain and any meager talents I have - this is the first chance since we left Tennessee. I just wish it wasn't so exhausting. Is that just me being sixty? It's kind of funny that I'm twenty to thirty years older than nearly everyone I work with, but they're all so tired. I don't want to scare them about getting older, but I feel like I should drop hints like, "I hope you like ibuprofen..." or "Enjoy those cute shoes while you can..." Honestly, I work circles around most of them, and I shouldn't. Where is their energy? I have to admit that when I'm shelving, and for some reason all of our shelves have books at floor level (why??), it is not fun getting up and down. I actually love shelving because the more books I touch the more familiar I am with the collection, but that bottom shelf will be the death of me. I snapped this picture last week when I was processing books. Some were going out to other libraries, some had been requested locally and were going on our hold shelf, some were being checked in and returned to our shelves.
That back wall is my work area. To the left you can see some of the 50+ craft bags that I assembled to go home with our little visitors. I love those. They have all of the supplies and instructions needed to complete a small craft. To the right of the craft bags are a couple of shelves of books pulled for mending or labeling. Under the desk are the infamous stink boxes. I wish they'd let me decorate this work room. It needs color and art. It should be pretty. Pretty isn't very important around here. That's definitely something I miss about the south. I put a little bit of the south into one of my small displays. We have a good collection of cookbooks here, so I grabbed a tablecloth and sign from our house, and voila!
This hardly counts as a display - just two pieces of decor and some books, but it's working - people are checking out cookbooks! I swap them out every couple of days to keep it interesting. Here's another little bit of nothing - just pillow stuffing glued to cardstock for clouds, the raindrops are cardstock and string. Rainy Day Reads!
See what I mean? None of it is great (I have no budget!) but it's the fun part. So much of the rest is exhausting. They're advertising for a couple of new positions, so maybe if they find the right people I could work fewer hours. If that were the case I could do this for a long time. I'm already cooking up some fun ideas for May. I have my book lists ready and one display will definitely be "Once Upon a Crime..." complete with crime scene tape and a chalk body outline on the floor (actually white painters tape). I may do a Sci-Fi display with an alien saying, "Take me to your reader." We have a huge biography section though, so I probably should use those instead. I could make a giant name tag, like the ol' "Hello, my name is______" that we've all had to wear at some point. I could put up a sign that says Meet someone new, try a biography and put out a variety of interesting people - founding fathers to modern musicians, CoCo Chanel to Sally Ride. Anywho, just letting those ideas rattle around in my brain. I'll figure it out. Wow, I've rambled far too long and it's all disjointed and kooky. I guess I was overdue for a visit here. I'm happy today because I'm home. I hope that you're happy too, or at least on your way to being happy. I suppose we all have to figure out what that means for us, and where it is for us. I know it's not on that damn bottom shelf at the library.
The mister is turning off lights and heading for bed, so I guess that's my cue. We'll run off to Lancaster in the morning so I'll be back on Sunday to share a bit of that with you. It may be nothing but Amish buggies in the rain, but I have a feeling we'll find some fun. If you've made it all the way to the end of this snoozefest of a post, give yourself a cookie. You deserve it. Consider yourself hugged. Stay tuned for the Griswolds' adventures in Pennsylvania Dutch country! Until then, stay safe, stay well, and know how very much I've missed you. XOXO, Nancy
i still think back to this one dream i had (and yeah this was mostly a dream, the only real event was the car accident i was in irl)
it starts and i am little like. 8 years old. we're at a smaller theme park/water park on my birthday and its a lot of fun when while in the not-water side i get randomly picked with another girl to do a contest on stage. they picked a bunch of kids regularly, each roughly the same age, and it was going to be a big local tv event. we sign the contracts and each are put to do carious challenges.
the girl im with and i get picked to do skip ball. yknow
these things. and the prize was every kid who won a round got like 4 tickets to disney world or smth so you can imagine we were really excited.
and on stage im just killing it fsr. like absolutely sweeping this other girl. they are tallying up our scores in real time on the board. at one point the host lets her dad step in in an attempt to beat me but by the end of the time i STILL had more points than her and i won the tickets to disney world.
fast forward several years. its been almost 2 decades. im in my 20's. i have graduated college. i had a car accident and use a wheelchair or cane. the producers of that event/owners of the park or whatever contact my family asking for a meeting and so i agree and go to meet up with my mom. this show has become like a televised thing and is highly anticipated every year so we dunno what they want. could be whatever
we get there. the producer looks at me in my wheelchair. immediately makes a face. and then has to sit down saying that he was going to wait until the other girl i competed with showed up to discuss it but. the plan was they wanted us to redo the challenge since it was a really hyped up event and they wanted to see how we compared to our younger selves but. really there would be no point to it. i say i can stand up but. i dont think it would be a very fun or fair competition. my disability isnt a secret.
the other girl walks in. she has apparently become very atheletic since then. the producer informed me like just before she arrived she was really looking forward to it and had become very competitive and an athlete so yeah, it wouldnt be fair. she looks at me very confident and almost smug, only to realize i am in a wheelchair and i can just. see the disappointment on her face.
its very apparent to me in dream she was really looking forward to doing the contest again. she had done track in high school and college or smth. she was very sporty, very athletic. her dad was there and he looked also very disappointed. i think this random victory i had over her when we were 8 had been eating her up inside. i sit there awkwardly as we make small talk. the producer explains why he wanted us there which she had already figured out, and she just gets more disappointed by the minute as i ask if there are any other contests we can do that would be fun or exciting and don't require my legs that much.
we don't really come to a conclusion. we both leave the coffee shop with our respective parents, i awkwardly, her looking absolutely defeated. i want to apologize but i feel its weird to apologize for being disabled bc that just happens. i get in the car to go home. i wake up in bed, leave the room, and sit on the couch irl to think it over. i dont know that blonde white girl who was into track and field. shes not real. none of that happened. but it was very vivid and i was just left with this strange feeling afterwards and i remember it every so often like "huh. wonder what that was all about."
hello my favorite insane /pos bestie If i gave u the prompt dnf spending first holidays together (specifically georges birthday, thanksgiving, christmas, new years, valentines) what would you brainrot out for um. reasons ^_^ bc ur dnf hcs are always cute
Oh hello crazy best friend yes I will share them as you would never use them for profit 🫶
I got carried away and spent half an hour on these ppl better appreciate them
George's birthday - Wakes him up at midnight to say happy birthday, they go back to sleep, wake up again and have a "morning celebration", glued at the hip the entire day Tbh, they go out for lunch to sushi and Dream insists paying for it, it's a LOT of food and George tries to offer to pay for more of it cuz he feels bad but Dream refuses cuz it's his birthday, they go home and they lay around doing nothing most of the day but all three of them just existing in the same space just how George had wished for. Sapnap leaves and buys streamers, balloons and those confetti rocket things he likes and a cake, while dnf have some more celebration. They get home, they order McDonald's since it's what George asked for and then they light up the cake and mess around with the decorations and eat the cake. They probably call Quackity and/or Karl and talk to them a bit on the phone. The day ends with dnf in their bed and Dream snuggling him and kissing all over his face wishing him a happy birthday. When George asks why he's been so clingy today Dream just answers that he's never been able to do all of this in person and he wanted to make their first birthday together special. (There's probably a stream happening some time here but idc to write it out)
Thanksgiving - The first time George meets Dream's extended family and he's a little nervous but mostly excited. They go to Dream's mom's house since she insists on hosting it every year. It's a lot more food than George anticipated and he feels bad about not being able to eat it all but Dream reassures him there's nothing to worry about and he can eat whatever. George gets along with Dream's little niece and/or nephew really well and they cling to him for most of the dinner. He ignores the occasional curious side-eye Dream's extended family gives him, wondering why Clay brought his best friend to dinner and why they seem so extra close. Dream is ofc still glued to him, showing him around the house and introducing him to his family. Dream's mom gushes about how polite and sweet George is and while Dream could try and disagree for a laugh, he can't help but agree and glow at how much his mom loves George. They eat their dinner, have a couple of beers where Dream, drunk, accidentally says him and George are dating to his extended family. Luckily they don't say much, maybe a comment or two and they go home after a successful Thanksgiving. George tells him at home that he's never seen a house so full and loud and Dream just hugs him and tells him to expect it every year because he's a part of the family now.
Christmas - Dream wakes George and Sapnap up early like a little kid so they can unwrap their presents. He makes them hot cocoa as George complains about being too tired while wrapped up in his blanket still. They open their presents and George gets a little teary eyed. Dream notices and asks him what's wrong and he just says he hasn't done smth like this in a while and he gets to do it with them and it makes him very happy. He gets tackled in a cuddle by Dream and they spend the rest of their day cuddled on the couch watching Christmas movies and they order in food for lunch. Later, Dream's mom comes with his siblings and she prepares them dinner in their kitchen. They all hang out and talk, until dinner is ready and they move to the dining room and talk there. Dream's mom hands George a present and when he tries to say she didn't have to she insists because he's family now, so he accepts and it's a framed picture of Dream as a baby. George laughs loudly and Dream complains to his mom but George says he loves it and he's going to put it in their room. They watch a Christmas movie together one last time, drinking more hot cocoa before Dream's family leaves and they head up to their room where George puts the baby picture on his nightstand. Then they cuddle to sleep and Dream tells George it was his best Christmas in a while which George agrees.
New Years - They host a party at their house for all their close friends to come. They leave the station that shows the ball dropping on in the bg while also having their stereos out to play music. They order in pizza and Dream and George are of course still attached to the hip. People are drunk, it's a fun party and everyone's hanging out. Eventually, the ball starts to drop so everyone gathers around the big screen and starts counting down. When they reach midnight, George grabs Dream by the collar and kisses him as everyone around them hollers. Dream tells him he thinks this will be the best year of his life and George can't help but agree.
Valentine's Day - Dream asks to be his Valentine and George can't reject him anymore now that he sees his beautiful puppy eyes in person. He really tried to keep the bit up but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He tries to dodge the question on stream but Dream keeps persisting until he finally gives in. Later he complains about Dream doing it on stream but Dream is on cloud nine and can't care too much. This time however George refuses to let Dream pay after Dream suggests dinner which Dream accepts, as long as if he still got to choose the place. They go to a relatively fancy restaurant for dinner, George lightly teases him for being cheesy but Dream tells him he loves it and George can't argue. They go home - they asked Sapnap to stay at Punz's house that night and he looked like he wanted to smack them - and have more "celebration". Afterwards, Dream leans over and grabs a ring box. George freezes but Dream explains it's a promise ring, he's not proposing just yet, but he wanted to let George know that they were serious. George can't lie and say he's not a little disappointed it's not a proposal, but he also can't help but feel so happy he can't resist kissing Dream and thanking him in another way.
#sorry i got lazy w new years i gen don't rlly do anything for it#but here u go bestie i spent like half an hour on these ^_^ 🫶#kore.ask#dnf#dreamnotfound#bella
Cheers to 17- 18th!
35 minutes before my legality. It's ending already. I'm scared, excited, shaking, anxious, all at once. Pero sa pagkakataong ito, isa lang ang hinihiling ko: Maging masaya sa isa sa mga magiging highlight ng buhay ko.
*12AM, June 25*
Happy Birthday, L! Sabi ko last month pa lang bago matapos 'yung school year, magsusulat ako para sa mga natitirang oras ko as a 17-year-old girlie, e. (Tangina parang mamamatay na ako ah?) Anyway, ayon, dahil mas umiral pa rin talaga 'yung katamaran, ngayong after birthday ako nagsusulat. (O, 'di ba parang tanga lang.) Pero siguro mas pinili ko na lang 'to para mas ramdam.
Simulan muna natin sa naging emphasis ng buong 17th year ko. Ayon, grade 12 na ako. Senior. Seniorita as my last year as a highschool student. Honestly, 'di ko alam paano ipapaliwanag kasi sobrang mixed emotions and ang overwhelming ng lahat ng experiences. Siguro ano na lang, literal na kinabahan ako kasi noong g11 pa lang kami, like orientation pa lang ata no'n or patapos na 'yung school year, may kumausap sa'min na senior namin na dating Humanista rin. Binigyan kami ng heads ups, reminders, mga babala, and more on what to expect on our last year as SHS Tomasinos. Shockingly, nakinig ako sa mga sinabi niya and talagang naselyo siya sa utak ko. Edi nag-anticipate na ako ng mga mangyayari, I even prepared myself because one of the things or words that strucked me the most from the speaker that talked to us was, "Creative Writing" and "Creating Non-fiction" which are all about WRITING. OO, WRITING - my worst and most exciting fear.
Fast forward, nag full face-to-face na kami. For almost three years, naramdaman ko ulit yung pisikal na pagod sa pagcocommute mula Ugong hanggang Blessed- ay hanggang UST na pala. Pumikit lang ako, nasa dream school ko na ako nag-aaral- hanggang college! It still feels surreal. Daming ganaps for real to the point na I can't even list them all kasi super mixed emotions ng senior year ko, and the past half months ng buhay ko. Ano ulit? Super begging for attention na naman ako, nag-amfee moments na naman sa ibang tao na akala ko kinaganda ko na. Fuck. Nasanay lang siguro akong sumandal sa balikat ng mga tao. Naalala ko 'di ko pala puwedeng gawin 'yon sa lahat. Apologies.
Ano pa ba? Shet. Siguro 'yung umabot din ako sa buhay ko, for the first time in my life, na na-confuse ako sa orientation ko dahil sa isang tao. I mean, this is very inevitable and I'm not closing my doors sa pagiging gay, but I feel like hindi ko PA makita 'yung sarili ko sa same gender relationship. Maybe admiration lang talaga kaya ko.
Dami pa actually. Naging tanga sa pag-ibig na hanggang ngayon, fuck, when will I ever learn ba? Bigyan niyo na ako ng bago, 'yung mas better, 'yung mas deserve ko. EMZ. Uhm, playing 17 by Avril Lavigne non stop and setting it as "my song" kahit na I don't relate to most of its lyrics, basta ma-fit lang kasi nga 17 ako. Ewan. Masyado kong niromanticize pagiging 17 years old ko simply because ayaw kong mawala 'yung concept ng pagiging minor de edad ko. Well, the time's up and now I'm entering my adulting age.
Basta to summarize this all, I am really, and will be forever grateful for all the experiences, people, life lessons that I've learned in my 17th age and I'm really looking forward sa pag-uumpisa ng aking adulthood. I really hope that the next following years of my life treat me the way that I deserve, like what my one treasured friend said to me that made my heart touched and melt. I will really miss you.
Anyway, cheers to 18th, L! I really wish you all the best and please make good choices in life kasi tangina 'di ka pusa na merong siyam na buhay tulad nina Vivi and Hype. Bitch isa lang buhay mo. ISA LANG. Always aim for progress and please do not be hard on yourself anymore. I'm really begging and on my knees right now.
For the last time, Happy Birthday, L! Be happy. Be strong. Maging maganda palagi at ibalik ang alindog :)
L.
Loved this new chapter of Blackthorn!!
Like I said, love that the misunderstanding was cleared up. And I also love the princesses strength being recognized by the prince. How the rain had stopped, and he wondered if she was okay despite their distance. While of course she was still sad, she was finding peace for herself on her own!
My favorite line though was “The Prince ignored Agust’s words, for he knew what the dragon considered weakness, could be his greatest strength.” With Agust creeping in during inopportune moments, I was glad to see Yoongi’s strength of mind in the face of him as well, embracing the softer parts of himself.
The Empress was also so cute when the love bird idea came to her, and the Emperor reeling her back in ☺️ Wondering how what Yoongi has witnessed of the care and affection between his parents will bleed into how he treats Princess Keena. Already there’s a playfulness and affection between them on their own. They are both so sweet and sincere!! And Keena basically professing her feelings for him!! Ahh!!
The kiss was so sweet, and Keena slippin a bit in the bath!! Girl!! On the verge of asking him to stay?!? Gettin spicy!! Then Yoongi having her wear his clothes so they could MATCH!!! When he could have easily called for her own clothes to be brought up double time?? 😂 They’re so cute!!
I cannot address the finger licking lol. I was like, I know Aga is saying to himself, ‘i won’t stand for this weird shit’ but of course it was Agust (right?). Definitely can’t wait to learn what went on w Ceyeh and Agust back in the day!
A much welcome conclusion to a period of angst, with so many answers to remaining questions to anticipate on the horizon!
Thank you for sharing this story with us!!
Can I just say how much I enjoy when you come yelling into my asks? Like this never fails to put a smile on my face, no matter what time of the day it is. Thank you so much for reading and always leaving feedback!
I have a lot to say, so I will do so under the cut!
You picked up on the rain being equal to the Princess' strength, huh? I love that! I like to drop small and big comparisons when I can to show that the Princess isn't as helpless as people would like her to be.
As for Yoongi and Agust, keep in mind that Yoongi has had to deal with Agust since he became of age, so around his 13-16th birthday. He is used to Agust being an ass and just tunes him out when he can. Agust will continue to try and pop up as much as he can, he sees himself as stronger and therefore thinks he should be in control. Yoongi on the other hand, knows himself for the most part. Is he strong? Yes. But is the man a total softie who melts at the sight of lemming ducks? Also, yes! Yoongi is the best of both.
Yoongi having parents who showed affection to one another around him, will help Yoongi in the long run with the Princess. He isn't afraid to show his emotions and speak on his feelings. Same goes with the Princess since yeah, she pretty much confessed lol You have to think, both of the young royals have great role models for how to treat their significant other, so I think it is safe to say they will be just fine.
Young love at its finest, am I right? Full of teasing looks, playful touches and suggestive words...yeah good for Yoongi for controlling himself. Not gonna lie, it took a lot of strength for me not to have Agust show himself at that very moment. With the matching clothing, I did a lot of research and a lot of couples would were matching outfits or colors that were complementary to each other. So, it made sense to me to have Yoongi take that in stride. They made up, so why shouldn't they take their roles in stride?
I am so, so pleased by everything you have picked up on and pointed out in this chapter and the others before this. There is so much I want to say but I will keep my mouth closed...for now. I am really excited to share Agust and Ceyeh's past with you. Which I think will be coming in August after my July break (please don't quote me on that), this story has a mind of its own lol.
Love you and thank you for reading!
; giving ran haitani a blowjob inside the car.
synopsis: while driving y/n back home, haitani ran had an overwhelming attraction towards her when he saw her face. it aroused him to the extent that he couldn't resist stopping the car and simply staring at her.
warning: fem reader, soft-dominance, demanding ran, explicit language, head job, vaginal fingering, anal fingering, throat goat, clitorical stimulation, edging, road head.
I entered the grand hall filled to the brim with guests attending my aunt's grand birthday. The air was alive with excitement and anticipation, and the sounds of chatter and laughter filled the space. My eyes traveled over the crowd, admiring the elegance of the decorations and the beautiful outfits that everyone had chosen to wear for the occasion.
My aunt, looking stunning in a long flowing dress, stood at the center of the hall, surrounded by her friends and family. As she began to speak, I listened intently, taking in every word. Her words of gratitude for everyone attending her birthday touched me deeply, and I felt a lump form in my throat.
As I looked around the crowded room, my eyes finally settled on Ran's familiar face as he emerged from the sea of people. I watched as his eyes met mine, and he began making his way towards me. As he drew closer, he spoke up, his voice calm and polite.
"Mind if I take you home?"
A smile spread across my face, and I chuckled softly. "Of course not, I don't mind at all," I replied, my voice light and cheerful.
I took a step towards Ran, feeling the tension dissolve between us as he reached out and hooked his arm around mine, leading me out of the room. We made our way through the packed hallway, passing by the various groups of people gathered there, each lost in their own conversations and laughter.
As we stepped outside, the cool night air greeted us, and I shivered slightly. Ran noticed and pulled me closer, placing a hand on my back to provide additional warmth.
"Are you all right?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.
"I'm fine," I said with a small laugh. "Just a little chilly, that's all."
Ran chuckled softly, his eyes meeting mine. "Let's get you home, then," he said, giving my arm a gentle squeeze.
Together, we made our way to his car, where he opened the door for me and helped me inside. As we drove off into the night, the music of the city faded away behind us, and we spent the rest of the drive in comfortable silence, each lost in our own thoughts.
As we drove through the city at night, the radio suddenly began to play a familiar song that caught both of our attention. It was the song "Love is a Bitch" by Two Feet, and as the first few notes began to play, we both looked at each other and smiled. It was a happy moment, and I could feel a growing sense of intimacy between us.
Ran reached for the energy drink that was sitting in the cup holder in his car and took a sip, and as he did, the flashing lights of the city hit his face. His jaw tightened slightly, but he continued to drink from the bottle, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. As he drank, my eyes trailed from his lips to his Adam's apple, and my cheeks warmed with a blush that I was grateful for the darkness to conceal.
I couldn't help but wonder what would happen next, and as the song continued to play, I felt a sense of anticipation building between us.
As the car drove through the city streets, the silence felt heavier than ever, as if the air around us were laden with expectations. Suddenly, Ran tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, and I noticed that his grip on the wheel had tightened.
The next song came on - "Mount Everest" by Labrinth - and I heard Ran clear his throat, his voice barely above a whisper. I rubbed my feet against each other nervously, trying to ease the tension in my body, and looked up into the rearview mirror, my eyes widening in surprise as I saw Ran doing the same.
It felt like a moment frozen in time, as if we were both processing the same thought at the same moment. For a second, our eyes met through the mirror, and I could swear I saw a flutter of recognition in his gaze. When the song changed, the moment was gone as quickly as it had come, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something different had passed between us.
I didn't know what the future held, but I felt the adrenaline of anticipation coursing through my veins, mingling with the warmth of Ran's presence. The drive felt endless, but the longer it continued, the more I felt drawn in by the man sitting next to me.
We drove in silence, both of us lost in our own thoughts as we listened to the radio. As the next song came on - "Crazy in Love," - I felt my heart thump a little bit faster, the excitement rising in my chest. I looked over at Ran, who seemed to be concentrating on the road, his eyes fixed on the traffic ahead.
Suddenly, he shifted the car to the right, driving past the main road and towards an empty parking lot. I felt my breath hitch in my chest as Ran began to slow down, and I looked at him in surprise. He parked his car in the middle of an abandoned building and turned the engine off, letting out a deep sigh as he ran his hand through his hair.
"Just by looking at your face, it turns me on," he said, his voice low and hoarse, his eyes fixed on mine.
Glancing down at Ran's crotch, I could see that he has been having difficulty with it as his boner has been enlarging minute by minute. He gave me another look and his eyes begged me to do something without saying anything. I gently gripped my thighs and bit my bottom lip, looking away for a brief moment. His beseeching face was too much for me to ignore; it seemed like he was actually pleading with me to do it now.
Though it was supposed to be his job to unbuckle his belt, I fixed my position and rolled my eyes upward. Ran gets horny first and wants me to gratify him before it's my turn. He was clearly horny from the start because of the whimper he let out when I unintentionally touched the tip of his dick, which was slowing down a little.
With a low tone, I watched Ran's dick throb slowly. "Suck it please." he said. I want to tease him more because I know it hurts. I pushed my tongue, sipping from the juicy tip and stopping abruptly. Ran sighed, grasped my hair, and demanded, "Stop teasing!"
He begged me to stop playing, his voice filled with desperation, while a sly grin appeared on my face. I gazed up at him as I sensually licked his tongue, observing Ran's mouth gape in shock and his neck veins strain as he gripped my hair firmly. My tongue swirled around the tip of his tongue, and with an abrupt motion, I forcefully moved my head downwards, resulting in me sucking half of his cock. This caused Haitani Ran, the mayor of Roppongi, to emit a loud moan of pleasure.
I softly take his member into my mouth at a leisurely pace, and as I reach the tip, I make an audible noise and twirl my tongue around it, meeting his gaze with his captivating violet eyes. The car fills with sounds of pleasure and Ran reacts by clenching his fist and tightening his jaw, responding even more forcefully when I shift my head back and forth, prompting him to firmly tighten his hold on my hair and guide my actions as if I were a doll meant for pleasuring him.
He grabbed my hair and lifted it, positioning me to face him. Ran moved closer to my ear and softly uttered, "While you pleasure me with your mouth, pleasure yourself by touching." His demanding voice sparked tears in my eyes as he thrust his large member into my mouth, making me struggle to breathe. As a response, I obediently placed my middle finger on my clitoris and began to gently stimulate it. Overwhelmed by the size of Ran's cock, I closed my eyes, my feet succumbing to a mix of heat and cold sensations due to the heightened sensitivity of my clit.
After I choked one last time, Ran continued to move my head back and forth while his other hand moved from my clitoris to my ass cheeks, where he gave me a gentle slap that made me squirm. My lips are watering, and all I can feel is Ran gently massaging my asshole while attempting to stick one finger inside. He was also gently nudging my cunt, which is driving me crazy.
He stuck his dick in my mouth and I muttered, "R-ran." He scarcely pushed my head down, which made me struggle a little bit because I could feel my knees weakening from all of his fingers. My eyes widened as he inserted his fingers into my holes. When Ran began putting his fingers in and out of my holes, I rolled my eyes upward.
"I am reaching orgasm," spoke Ran with a husky tone, as he swiftly lifted his neck and I began to sense my throat being filled by his swelling member. I tightly grasped his thighs while arching my back, allowing Ran to finger me, as the sensation was surprisingly pleasurable. His hand moved swiftly, matching the pace of my head, however, fatigue was starting to set in. Suddenly, he groaned loudly, pushing his fingers deeper into my openings, causing me to cry out slightly from the delightful sensation. Once again, I felt Ran growing larger inside my throat.
"I'm fucking cumming, Y/n..." was the last thing Ran said before he started gasping and writhing to get into position. I think he may be overstimulated. I felt my clitoris clenched and I could feel myself coming in both holes. He moaned loudly, "Fuck!" because my mouth was already filled with cums.
As I looked up at him, his slicked hair turning into a messy one, he said, "Yes, we cum together." I responded with a nod, and we both quickened our steps until we eventually came together. Just as I was ready to scream, Ran put his lips against my mouth as though he was eating my cries, and our cunt and cock were streaming cums.
A couple of days home (pt1)
It's Spring time again. Kenta is used to his life in the middle of nowhere. And yet, when he wakes up on Love Day, he has a weird feeling. He has no way to check that it is indeed that specific holiday, yet he feels some sort of pull to call a special someone...
And of course, why would he deprive himself of a nice chit-chat with Miki ? After all, they never promised they wouldn't keep in touch, at least a little bit... It's a beautiful day, a rainbow just appeared and he takes his phone to hear her voice.
She was simply making breakfast, but she's quite happy to hear how his adventure is going. He feels a bit better when he hangs up, before he remembers that very soon, he has to go back to Mt Komorebi, even if it's just for a few days, to celebrate his nephew Isui's birthday.
He arrives quite late at Sakura's house and can't wait to hear what new has been happening in their childhood town. And especially, how their dad is doing...
Indeed, he's heard that Itsuki and Kiana are even less stable than when he left... He's not so surprised, but just a bit sad, as he cares about his dad, his brother and Kiana. But soon enough, he puts all that aside to spend some precious time with Isui, learns a bit about him before he turns into a full grown toddler.
Then they go to bed, already anticipating a bit of the trouble that is going to come with the family reunion the next day...
In the morning, the two siblings are still discussing their parent's situation... In between this and that, Sakura's caught Kenta up on the news from their former classmates and friends, mainly babies and weddings. But they know that the news on their dad's side might not be as happy.
Still, Kenta is quite excited to have his whole family under the same roof again and be able to spend some quality time with all of them !
But on Itsuki's side, things are a bit more tense.
"Hey, I think we need to talk about us..." "What is it Itsuki ?" Kiana says, already seemingly upset. "I just feel like we can't keep going like we are right now." Itsuki says, his voice deepened by the sadness to have come to this point. "Don't you dare say that we need to break up now !"
"What would you like me to say then ? Please, tell me what your solutions are, I've unfortunately not seen you come up with any, even though I have been trying my very best to keep us both happy." "Oh really ? How are you doing that exactly ? By going out every day to climb walls or do whatever it is you love to do so much ?" she starts getting really mad, and Itsuki doesn't seem to know how to respond.
"You can't blame me for doing what I like to do. I'm not like you, I don't enjoy my job very much, you know that." "Yeah, but you could, I don't know... Spend some time with me ?" "I try, you know I do, but all we ever do is have sex Kiana... And I have to admit it's not that fulfilling, especially lately..." he admits, almost ashamed of saying it.
"Oh so now you don't like being in the house with me, you don't like having sex with me, you don't even like anything about me anymore, do you ?" she seems torn between anger and tears, and unfortunately, he doesn't really know how to help, because all he can feel is sadness. "We can't communicate about anything these days, Kiana, you have to agree with me on that... I just thought maybe if we took a little break from each other, we could maybe come back together and form a normal family again ?" he offers, unsure.
"We've never been a family Itsuki ! It's always been you, your kids, your dead wife, and me and Seiji as added pieces to the puzzle. You've never put us first !" "You're crossing a line and you know it, don't talk about my wife like this." Itsuki says, closing himself off. "See ? I was always her... You know what, you want a break from me ? Great. I'll leave right now. Seiji and I are moving. You won't have to see us anymore !" she says, her throat closing up, tears starting to roll down her cheeks.
"Kiana, don't be like that. You know I love you both, I do want to see you, as often as I can. I'm sorry this isn't going the way you want it to, I wish we could have done better for our son, for ourselves..." Itsuki says, trying to soothe her. But she gets up, ready to put an end to this excruciating conversation. Ready to turn a new page on their life, even if it's the most painful thing she's ever had to do.
Seiji is still in his room, unaware of what his parents are going through. He hears them call him to the leaving room when they get back inside, and he has no idea what is going to happen to his family.
He turns the TV off and goes to sit between them on the couch. They start explaining everything to him, and it is safe to say he is very shocked.
Sure, he knew his parents weren't in as great of a place as they had once been, but he isn't the kind of person to dig too deep and surely didn't think that his parents would want to break up. His mom explains that they will move out temporarily, to give everyone a bit of time to find peace with this situation...
His dad makes sure to tell him that this does not mean that he doesn't love him. They will all do their best to have as normal a relationship as possible, and surely they won't move far away anyway, so Seiji will be able to go from one house to the other without trouble whenever he wants to.
He tries his best to understand their pain and how they can't live in the same house anymore, but his first question is :"Where are we going to go then ?" His mom says to leave it to her, she will arrange something, that all he needs to do is pack a few clothes and say bye to his dad, that he'll be back in a couple of days. Kiana goes to her best friend straight away. She knows she can count on her. Plus, she has kids about the same age as Seiji, so he'll have someone to share his feelings with if he doesn't want to turn to his parents...
-to be continued in part 2-
Preparing for PARIS!!!
French word of the week: vitesse
Translation: speed
As I prepare for my upcoming trip to Paris, it feels right to reflect on why I wanted to study abroad in the first place. Coming into the University of Michigan, I was overwhelmed with all the decisions I would soon need to make. Despite being in the College of Engineering, I didn't know my major, and because of that it was very difficult to get involved. The one thing I was sure about was wanting to study abroad. Study abroad has been a long-term dream of mine, and something I'm so lucky to have the opportunity to do this early on in my college experience. This past fall, I followed through on my goal and completed the necessary steps to put it into action.
This brings me to my word of the week, vitesse. The French word for speed seemed fitting for how quickly this trip sprung up on me. In less than two months, I'll be in the city I've been in love with from afar for nearly 5 years now. It's truly crazy to think that after all my years of longing, my 4 years taking French at my IB high school and a semester of doing so at the University, I'll finally be putting my skills to the test and undergoing a learning experience unparalleled by any other.
Thinking about this trip, many emotions come flooding in. I believe that a nervous excitement, perhaps anticipation, best summarizes what I am feeling. Excitement, of course, because I'll be in a beautiful foreign city and engaging with a new culture alongside two of my best college friends. I suppose nervousness accompanies that for the same reason: I'll be in a beautiful, foreign city without my family.
My anticipation isn't without reason. As someone who has never been out of the country, the level of independence I'll experience on this trip will be unlike anything I've ever felt before. In turn, the self-discovery I'll undergo is inevitable. I've heard it said many times that no one returns from trips like these the same person as when they left, yet I don't think I can truly understand the extent of this statement until I experience it firsthand. At the same time, I trust that this will be a positive change and a valuable learning experience for me as an engineer.
During my time in Paris, I look forward to using my French in context as well as learning more about the French culture, both in and outside of the classroom. The 300-level Humanities course I have chosen, "Haute Couture in Paris," includes visits to local fashion houses as well as meetings with local designers as part of the curriculum. Outside of this, my friends and I plan on doing all the "musts"-- visiting monuments, Parisian restaurants, boutiques, museums, and so much more! At the top of my personal bucket list is visiting the "Little Prince" store, a store based entirely on the French novel "le Petit Prince" (which I have read and love!!). I also plan on meeting up with my high-school French teacher, who will also be in Paris at the time, and am most excited to celebrate my 19th birthday in France!
Overall, I can't wait to add "study abroad" as a part of my Wolverine identity and know I'll have a plethora of experiences to share after I return from my trip. I already bleed Maize and Blue, and I'll soon bleed Rouge, Blanc et Bleu!!
I look forward to updating you all once I arrive in Paris. See you soon and ALLEZ LES BLEUS!!
Me repping my "Allez les Bleus" shirt-- can't wait to wear it in France!
A poll on my dorm-room door because I'm already thinking about my summer trip!
