#218.5 -  A common sight in volcanic areas, Slugma slowly slither around in constant search of warm places. Their bodies are composed of molten magma, and they must keep moving, else their magma cools, turns brittle, and breaks. As such, Slugma do not sleep, and will gather near active volcanos where the intense heat allows them to rest. If their body does get too cool, a magma bath will heal it right up. As Slugma age, their magma will begin to bubble and expand, creating a lava shell on their back that will cool and harden. Although the shell may look strong, only the outer layer is solid, making it very brittle and able to be broken with a slight touch. By dipping themselves into magma, they can shed their shell by melting back to their original size. A fully developed Magcargo’s body is so hot that water vaporized on contact; if this Pokémon is caught in the rain, the raindrops will instantly turn into steam, cloaking the area in a thick fog.

This guy was already named Slagvae (slug/magma/slag + larvae), but I’ve been notified that “slag” is an offensive word in the UK, so I’d like to see if there’s another name to use for this guy. #1020.? - There are but a scant few reports of the creature “Gouging Fire” being sighted; however, it resembles an eerie Pokémon once shown in a paranormal magazine, where it was said to be an Entei regenerated from a fossil. Other leading researchers believe it to be an ancient relative of Entei that once roamed volcanic regions in an age long past. Gouging Fire possess a massive, armored crest with jagged horns that glow white-hot when the Pokémon is enraged. If theorists are to be believed, over a very long period of time, Gouging Fire’s lineage may have adapted to a changing world, refining its form into the swifter, more regal and controlled Entei that is known as legend in modern times. With its body streamlined for endurance and long-distance travel over raw power, this Pokémon’s once formidable draconic traits may have faded, leaving behind the purely fiery essence that fuels Entei’s mighty presence. However, without more living specimens to study, the true connection between these Pokémon remains a matter of debate.
