2024 writing roundup:

not the best year from a writing perspective - the demands of life really ran me over, over and over and over. however, i did finish a few things versus just quitting, which is worth celebrating! so here we go:

breach: cale/willy, t-rated, ~1k. because whales. and also cale/willy. i was hoping to pull off drag bar fic by the end of the year but i opened it a few days ago and, well. it needs some work. and then there will be two (2) fics in that tag, the heart wants what it wants, etc

bottle up: colby/sid, t-rated, ~1k. featuring colby as a hockeybot

best fit: just a lil mikko/naz for my pal patrichornkissed whose url will hopefully be restored. gen, under 1k.

of all calamities: timmy stu/chabby, 5k, t-rated somehow. in which our little german boy reads too many tumblr tags about his skating and loses all of his leg bones, and chabs has to nurse him back to health. disaster fic but i finished it, so

call it home: mario/toff, 10k, e-rated. in which i stockholmed myself into having unbearable and painfully soft feelings about not just the pairing but the entire team, waaaah i’m so glad kas let me write this for him

gingerbread: loc/rosco pwp, ~1k, e-rated. based on the avs very horny holiday media stuff. every once in a while i am compelled to attempt pwp and then immediately remember why i don’t, but someone in the one (1) discord server that i’m in was lamenting the lack of anything in their tag on ao3 and now there is something. voila!

Xena’s the best off-the-wall fantasy show ever. Want to know why? Xena is a show that’s set in Ancient Greece. In one episode they had electric guitars and multi-coloured strobe lights without any explanation at all. This episode also happened to be a musical to popular 90’s music and Xena and the villain did a rap battle. Xena also played her theme on a guitar (lyre).

People stop asking for fantasy shows to be historically accurate. The whole fun of it is that it’s not. So stop.

Remus couldn’t hear. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t feel. He just got him back. He held Harry tight in his arms, for fear if he let go, he may let himself go. Harry screamed, finding the same kind of anger.

He barely heard Bellatrix screaming “I killed Sirius Black!” And cackling down the halls. Remus let go of Harry, grabbing his wand. Harry began to chase after her, but he held him back.

Harry saw some kind of fire lit in Remus’s eyes, ad he agreed to stay back reluctantly. Remus raced down the hall. His limbs and joints hurt, but he couldn’t seem to care. The sun is a star and Sirius was his sun. It was gone. All light had escaped from his grasp in the short time he held it. He held onto it tightly. Not tightly enough.

He found Bellatrix soon enough, and as he knew exactly what spell to use, he imagined Bellatrix saying it straight to her cousin moments before. He remembered holding Sirius the nights after they came back from Winter or Summer hols. Remus would kiss over the untreated cuts as he wrapped them a put balm on them. He remembers Sirius telling him about the family dinners, and how if he were bad, his mother and father would just tell his cousins to take him. Bellatrix was the only one who actually did anything.

All this fueled the anger he felt growing inside of him. He swished his wand while shouting the curse he never thought he’d hear himself say. “Avada Kedavra!”

He watched in slow motion as Bellatrix fell to the ground and lied limply. He turned as his friends looked at him in such shock. He didn’t care. His light was gone. The brightest star in his night sky was no longer.
