Hi v new to hungergames fanfom (obviously daw the movies when they came out but only started the books this summer) and Swan Upon Leda was the first fic I finished 🥹 it was perfection im obsessed with how everlark children are dubbed toast babies (it literally took me till YESTERDAY, yes, over 10 years, to realize Peeta isnt a diminutive of Peter hes named after Pita bread) its fucking everything anyway thank you for being a writer in the fandom i hope you continue!

the fact that people are still arguing over if gale killed prim...when the entire point is that it did not matter if gale killed prim because he openly advocated for the deaths of hundreds of little girls just like prim on the 'other side' and katniss could no longer see those prims as separate from her prim...and the bombs from 13 stole prim from katniss as brutally and absolutely as the sadism of the capitol would have because they were founded in the same desires for revenge and propangada

I see a lot about the parallels between Katniss and Haymitch (and Lenore Dove), but can we talk about Maysilee and Peeta? They both found their strongest talents to be artistic, with Maysilee forming alliances with her jewelry making and Peeta’s camouflage. They’re both kids from wealthy families, considered soft before they have their mettle tested in the arena. Maysilee’s wish to Mags and Wiress is that she retains her dignity; Peeta says the same to Katniss on the rooftop. Haymitch must have looked at Peeta, who wasn’t afraid to stand up to him and demand he do his job as mentor, and seen Maysilee’s defiance. Her creativity, her overwhelming compassion and refusal to be degraded. Like he had been given another chance to help her paint her poster.

Sometimes it’s fun to just hate an npc for no particular reason.

Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you
