ok lol officially most annoying anon in the world (“mischaracterization” anon who just said they were abdicating from the convo 4 being high as balls which. is real and i should stop cuz atp im p sure the whole point of what ur getting at is going over my head lmfao) BUT in terms of what u said u were getting at in ur poll (like if the writers were cognizant of it or if it’s more a display of their own internal biases? again im stupid and high sorry if im once again missing the point by a mile)… BUT
I don’t have any strong inclinations either way but if I had to choose I’d have to say it’s more their own internal/personal bias’s coming out rather than something they were expecting the audience to pick up on and maybe think about. And the only reason I say this is because the identities/status of the people she killed were never really explicitly stated (at least from what i can immediately recall of the episodes) or brought up again.
like it’s notttt rlly brought up throughout the episode aside from just learning that those people are dead and she killed them? like idk nothing about it rlly inclines me to believe it was anything more than subconscious or latent beliefs in the writers because I do think we were supposed to empathize with her so it does make sense in that sort of lens that the writers chose “criminals” or whatever to kinda “soften the blow”, if u will, of her having killed people?
idk. i wanna know what what u think tho!!! like in terms of the poll u posted what would ur answer be?
I have mixed feelings about it, because I think the previous associations the writers have made with Sam and class (as well as Dean and class—for example—in 2.20 "What Is And What Should Never Be") make it very possible it's intentional. Sam justifies Amy's actions partly based on class, and Dean condemns her actions partly for the same reason—that she doesn't get to kill people and get away with it just because they're beneath her on the social ladder. It seems so obvious that one wants to assume it's very intentionally and purposefully done.
At the same time, you are right that the presentation of the story—told through the mouth of a cop and a few newspaper clippings—is heavily biased against the victims. The cop says the third victim deserved it because he had been in and out of jail for petty offenses, and Sam calls him a "low life". You have to work very hard to capture the story of the second victim in the newspaper article. You really can't capture the story on those pages without really sitting down to read, paused on the correct frames. A prominent part of the article is focusing on the victim being a heroin addict who had relapsed and was high when he went to the park. He was vulnerable and "in the wrong place at the wrong time". What gets me the most though is the prominent headline for the first victim: "Body found in park, victim known to police". What a gross way to poison the well. The barely visible subheading reads: "Man had been arrested multiple times, had outstanding warrant". (Again—these multiple arrests indicate petty offenses rather than felonies—probably another addict). When Amy makes an attempt on another victim in the park (only to be stopped by Sam), the target is drunk and fumbling with his keys, trying to get into his locked car. So in every case, the presentation not just from Amy and Sam and the cop but the episode as a whole attempts to bias the audience against the victims, trying to paint them as people who shouldn't be missed, who deserved what they got, and/or whose vulnerability was to blame for what happened to them.
Amy seems to target people who are high or drunk in the park at night because they're vulnerable and alone. I think some fans jump to frame her choice of targets as vigilantism that helps assuage her guilt, but none of those people deserved to die—and it really isn't vigilantism—she's simply following her own mother's shrewd M.O.—you target people who are alone and whose situational awareness is impeded by substances and whose deaths the cops won't put much effort into investigating because they don't see them as victims.
I also think this episode tries very hard to paint Dean in a negative light even prior to him killing Amy. Bobby insists Dean's concern over Sam's well-being isn't warranted when it is perfectly warranted. (We've seen Bobby brush off Dean's reasonable concerns before in 6.06). Then Sam pops off, cutting Dean off to throw a bunch of nonsense in his mouth, and conflating himself with Amy in an absolutely ridiculous way. Dean's voice is suppressed (which is also imo—a prominent feature of the Dabb era in general later in the series). On top of that, this certainly isn't the only episode where Dabb and Loflin's most overt messages try to bias the audience against Dean.

Lol you're hilarious. Everything about the story and SJM's recent online activities AND the articles point towards elriel endgame but y'all will only stop when elriel is announced I guess.
Anons like this are always better than a cup of coffee because wow, do they wake my brain up in an instant.
Articles pointing to an E/riel endgame? You mean articles written by journalists who never sat down with SJM and who never even spoken to the author or Bloomsbury regarding the content? Articles that were factually incorrect, one originally claiming that SJM was the author of the Elemental series with a hyperlink to a different authors Amazon page? Journalists who definitely are not more qualified than Sarah's own best friend who is on record as saying she doesn't think E/riel is happening?
Also, if we're really claiming her posts as possible clues of which we have zero evidence they are, those clues suggest Elain more than any ship.
Bloomsbury tweeted flowers and fire (not stars or a night sky). Which actually would hint at Lucien over Az.
She had the book of flowers displayed during her live. It's cute how some tried to claim there was a black bat on the spine of the book but alas, it was a blue petal.
She wore a Bambi sweater with flowers during an IG and yes that sweater was on a black background but only because that's how the shirt is produced. I'm sorry but you can't be so ridiculous as to think that the author would want to wear that particular sweater (something she's owned for years as it was mentioned in another article from way back when) but second guess herself because the black background it was already on might have people thinking it hints at Az.
The Spring story had nothing, NOTHING to connect to Az but if you recall from the actual books, Lucien is permanently stationed in the Spring Court.
Let's break down the Az clues you're so confident in.
She was writing ACOTAR 5 in September. She was already into the process to the point that she was obsessed with the book, that it felt like having a crush, that she was so focused on it she didn't even have time to make a treat for her childs school. So that probably means she was at least a few chapters in? A third in? In February, about 5 months later, she did a fan made bracket (that did not include Lucien). and said Az was someone she'd be exploring more in the future.
She wrote the current version of HOFAS in a month. If she had already been working on ACOTAR 5 and had already spent 5/6 months writing about Az, why would Az be someone she wanted to explore more in the future? Shouldn't she have already explored him in e/riels book?
The post where SJM went up North to draft and stopped in front of a small body of water in the middle of the mountains? Guess what, Koschei's LAKE is hidden in a forest, surrounded by mountains. Illyria is not the only place in their entire world with mountains and pine trees. Also, Vallahan is surrounded by mountains on the map! Places SJM could easily have written about in this next book, places more connected to Lucien, Elain and Vassa. And as mentioned above, she said she was up north to draft. It is now 7 months since she did the Live interview talking about how she was working on ACOTAR 5. Chances are, whatever she was up North drafting is not ACOTAR but her next project.
Onto Guilty as Sin. My point mentioned above twice still stands. Why are you assuming it made her think of a book that's probably already written rather than a book she may be working on? Maybe it gave her the feels for the LoA / Helion's love story as they were forbidden lovers who were not yet lovers in their youth. Sarah has often spoken about wanting to write an ACOTAR book set in the past, maybe it's time for theirs. Mor heard rumors that the LoA waited before agreeing to Beron's proposal, after having met Helion at an Equinox the previous year. Helion claims that he heard her family wanted ties to power. At that time (before they ever had an affair), the LoA and Helion would have been forbidden because he had no real power. If you recall, he only became HL during Amarantha's reign after she killed the HL of Day and most of their family. Or maybe she is writing about the Seraphim from 500 years ago, before the first war. Where Miryam and Drakon fell in love when she was with Jurian.
Would it honestly make sense for her to be excited about a song that she just heard for the first time three days ago over a book that should be finished save for maybe final edits?
I like imagining how these things might hint at Elain and Lucien too, it's fun in this drought of ACOTAR info. But I don't have such blinders on that it makes me unable to consider other possibilities.
Stop claiming you see the whole picture when you are only selecting the puzzle pieces you like best. Trying putting the entire thing together if you want to have a chance at sounding like you know what you're talking about.
You guess we'll stop when e/riel is announced? You mean the ship that ended on Solstice, the ship Elain did not shed a single tear over the way she cried for Graysen (someone we know that she loved)? Elain returned Az's necklace and never once looked like she was struggling with moving on. What kind of Elain stan are you, having Elain daydream of being with the guy who rejected her and couldn't confirm real feelings to his own brother? Are doormats now the rage?
I think I remember the Bryce / Az shippers saying the same thing, how we'd see when CC3 was released, but guess who was victorious on that front? The people who believed Bryce was ending up with her mate.

Why are we to be worried about Hunter Biden and whether he used drugs? We should be worrying about a man who kept secret Government documents related to our nuclear capability. We should be worrying about a man who wants to be president and whose friend is a Communist leader and a dictator.
I probably should request all anonymous questions to kindly reference the article/post inspiring such questions. I'm often left wondering what evoked these queries. First, let me just say, vote for whoever you want. I don't think anyone is going to change their opinion regarding the upcoming election based on anything they read on Tumblr. I mean, let's be honest here. Second, the entire Justice Department, most every major media outlet, the 50 some retired CIA folks who wrote an open letter all said Hunter's laptop was Russian disinformation BEFORE the last election. Some have recognized the error, barely. Others have never owned up to it. It defies logic that all these people/organizations made a mistake. It was a deliberate lie. We are seeing a propaganda machine here in this country that rivals anything put together in modern times. It shouldn't matter which party you prefer, this should scare you. Third, do you remember Geraldine Ferraro? She ran for vice president several elections ago. Her husband was John Zaccaro who pled guilty to real estate fraud (see LA Times article: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1985-01-07-mn-11727-story.html). Her son, in college at the time, was known as "The Pharmacist" because of the amount of drugs he was dealing. What's the point? It is highly unlikely that Ferraro didn't know what her family was doing. Just like the current situation. That's why we're worried about Hunter Biden. In the old days it would be called influence peddling. However, it seems to be an accepted perk of elected office now and it makes me quite disappointed. It's not just the drugs, it's the money received for being on a board for a company he knows nothing about, it's about the children he has raped (note I said "raped". The media tries to soft pedal it saying things like "having sex with an underage woman". That's BS. An "underage woman" is a child. Having sex with a child is rape. It is beyond reprehensible. Reports are starting to surface that the FBI planted some documents in the material they recovered in the Trump raid. Biden won't be prosecuted for doing the same thing because the investigators in his case said he's too senile to stand trial. And I was not aware of nuclear secrets being among the documents retrieved. Thank goodness our FBI has them now. (that's supposed to be sarcastic.) I am quite frankly much more concerned about our country letting Iran develop nuclear capabilities, however. I can't imagine why our congress and president thought that was a good idea. I rarely get into politics on my blog. I come here to escape all that. But sometimes folks I follow come up with some of the most unusual conclusions. In rare instances I will comment. I can only assume this question derives from one of those comments. And lest you think that I believe one party is evil and the other wonderful, I would suggest to you that they are merely two sides of the same coin. We need to clean house, and not just at the Federal level. As an example, I would offer to you that if Epstein's list of clients were published it would contain significant numbers of members of both parties, as well as many of the Hollywood elites, and other entertainers. Forget jail. We will need a battery of wood chippers. Lastly, thank you for being polite in the wording of your question. I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day 2024.

If you haven't read the article—which it looks as though many people haven't—I do recommend it, though it will most likely make you froth with rage (it provoked that response in me!). I was able to access the article even without a membership here, on the Washington Post's website.
The woman upon whom the article centres—Jennifer Petersen—has some really really Interesting (/s) views on literature. I am seething with rage about this whole debacle. I think it is a disgrace that the USA has managed to let these sorts of views fester.
But The Thing Is. Despite these highly questionable views that this woman holds, I think it is really really important to remember that she is A PERSON.
Note carefully that this is NOT me defending her views. Just her personhood. Her views are Fucked Up. But she is a person, with her own rich life, and there's an incredible amount of people in the notes saying all sorts of things about her, and I just want to posit that if you treat people you dislike as though they're not people, they're much less likely to want to listen to you.
Awful views, even ones that hurt people, even ones that are disgusting, do not deny someone their personhood—certainly, these views should not go on unchanged, but even the most vile-minded person is still a person.
When you start to dehumanise the people that oppose you, you start to create a moral dichotomy—either someone is Good, or they are Bad. They are With You, or Against You. There is no grey area, no understanding that some people mightn't even fully grasp what they're championing, no understanding that people long desperately for a Cause, that people at vulnerable times are susceptible to the attraction of any Cause, even if it's an ill-advised one.
Of course, there are plenty of people who grasp the severity of their views and their Cause and who do not care, or for whom that is the Entire Point. But it's difficult to know who those people are, and if you approach every situation of opposition assuming that the person falls squarely into that camp, then you will almost certainly alienate anyone who has perhaps been inching away from their views.
I know it makes interactions much easier to have that clear-cut black and white. I am most certainly guilty of jumping to these sorts of assumptions, I will probably continue to do it without even realising it at first; I am not trying to cast myself as a paragon.
Even so, I am going to Try to approach people with a little more understanding, not least because I want people to do the same for me. I have and will make mistakes, and voice opinions that I will later find objectionable, and do bad things, but I want other people to treat me like a person despite this.
What Petersen is doing is absolutely awful. I am 100% in agreement with that. Restricting access to books like this is fucking horrible, and it shouldn't be done (or even allowed).
But I don't think she should die, and I am not going to joke about that, because perpetuating this false binary of Good People and Bad People and saying "well, it's alright if we say the Bad People should die, because they're Bad" is encouraging an environment in which it is in one's interest to prove someone one dislikes is a Bad Person, because then there is no limit on what can be said about this person—especially because anything said against a Bad Person must surely be in service of the Good Cause, not against it.
(IMO, saying that someone (even a horrible person) should die is not serving an anti-censorship stance. The only things it will do are a) encourage aforementioned environment and b) become something for pro-censorship people to point at to say, "Hey, these people are saying awful things to me; if they're not going to approach me like a person, I won't do the same for them".)
Sorry if this is a little disjointed; it's been a while since I've written more than a few paragraphs of opinion ^^" I hope the general gist of it comes across. Take this all with a liberal grain of salt, of course, or discard the notion entirely, but I just wanted to air it :P
Censorship Georg
#just to make my stance SUPREMELY CLEAR: I DO NOT SUPPORT BOOK BANNING#ALSO I AM VERY MUCH QUEER#I am not defending her stance just her personhood#please read this in good faith; I am writing it with the same#there's a lot more dimension to this issue that I don't have the spoons to capture at the moment#if anyone has anything to add or argue with then please do; it is entirely possible I have missed something#just. y'know. treat me like a person please. i will try to do this regardless but it is nice for it to be two-sided#also sorry for the semicolons i am not trying to sound pretentious I just default to writing like this abt serious things

it's been very cool being sort of openly GNC in jewish spaces and seeing positive change come from it. like none of it has been on purpose ive kind of just been obviously genderous since i hit puberty, even before consciously choosing to present as such. i don't go my days about expecting to be an Issue but it's worth it if things turn out well.
first time it happened i honestly didn't know it would be such a big deal but i asked for the traditional male gift (a kiddush cup) instead of the female one (candlestick holders) for my bar mitzvah and now they ask every new bnei mitzvah which one they want ahead of time. and also scrupulously call them bnei mitzvahs instead of bar/bat mitzvahs. which is actually kind of annoying bc it sort of takes the intent out of my use of masculine hebrew language and presentation when everybody does it regardless of gender, but it's overall positive so whatever. the unfortunate side effect of this is everybody things i did that as some sort of Statement and if they're annoyed by gender neutral language they assume it is due to my nefarious transgender demands and not just something that other people started doing because of my presence without me knowing or caring. i expect people will be slightly confused when i come out as a trans man because they probably assume i am some form of nonbinary as well.
second was really surprising. i went to an orthodox synagogue as a kid back in palm beach because they're way more kid friendly. on account of all the children. and after we moved my mom kept in touch and i still talked to the rabbi's daughters on occasion. anyway apparently the rebbitzen, who my mom is friends with, reposted some dumb article about a trans teacher who was fired (iirc for no reason other than being trans) and made some comment about how we shouldn't be allowed to work around children. my mom called her and told her about me and pointed out that i worked with small children for my entire teen years and they were not in fact molested or traumatized by me looking trans. and the rebbitzen genuinely listened and changed her mind and said she thinks it's okay for trans people to be teachers now. which was unexpected and really nice, both that my mom bothered and that somebody who seemed pretty deep into the conservative radicalization hole had some positive growth.
so idk, as annoying as it can be in the moment when i just want to do my thang and go under the radar, it's nice that me just being myself can make people that already liked me decide to be nicer about other trans people. harnessing the nice jewish boy status for good.
#it's just cool to have a group of elderly people that i didn't yet know well decide to radically change just for little ole me#but i do kind of hate being seen as an Activist just for existing#i think people think i want attention in that regard wayyyy more than i actually do#i like to talk politics and ethics but I don't want to be some kind of figurehead im not the platonic ideal of a trans person#im like lazy and don't bind and have been procrastinating a much needed name change for a full year#and i let people misgender me bc it's not worth arguing and/or being hatecrimed for. find someone more passionate

What, then, did Jane know – or not know – of what went wrong? In the aftermath, when Katherine [Fillol] was despatched to a nunnery, Jane went to Catherine of Aragon, that gentlest and most pious of queens: Jane appears in records of the queen’s household from around this time. Which, ironically, was exactly when the king made his first, tentative move to persuade his queen to stand down, step aside, pursue a religious vocation. How bizarre that Jane should come – perhaps for refuge, perhaps for rehabilitation – from a home in which exactly that had just happened, only to have to witness the same all over again, but writ large. Very large, because Catherine of Aragon was no Dorset girl; she was a princess of the Holy Roman Empire, crowned queen of England, loyal spouse of two decades’ standing and mother of the sole heir to the throne.
What Inspired Suzannah Dunn to write The May Bride?
#'gentlest' lmao ok...anyways#but this is interesting#there is definitely a moral dubiousness to sending your wife to a nunnery#altho tbf it was dictated in her father's will she go to a religous house#but so was ES pushing through parliament to steal her fucking inheritance...god#i do like that in this article she makes the point that we shouldn't assume catherine fillol had a 'liason' with her father in law#consent is definitely a question. she was living in his house and he was the head of the household#suzannah dunn

Do think that Tech also has duties in Kamino. I would imagine him being kinda extra as a teacher like Corsshair but for totally different reason and in a slightly different way too? Idk If that makes sense
I bet you are writing this ask in regard to my "Crosshair is Fives' archery study-buddy" comics? In this idea of mine Crosshair is not a teacher per-se and has no experience in teaching. The friendly assistance (I spoke of under a read more under the first comics depicting the idea) is more of a structure that the trainer herself "imported" from her own culture as a way of teaching - it’s not something Kaminoans came up with themselves - that's how she was taught and teaches archery in her home-world - it held water for centuries.
I’m not saying that Crosshair is/ will be portrayed as a great teacher (in my comics), he is far from it, but in this scenario the trainer chose him based on his archery skills, not his people skills. (That’s the whole point of pairing Fives and Crosshair - to show a clash of characters and... maybe even cultures?)
That being said, and I know my “hot take” will be treated as “controversial to some, but I doubt Tech would be a good teacher (I use a word “teacher” very loosely - not as an “actual teacher” but rather someone with more experience/skill selected by a higher-up, to expand upon other people’s skills) - especially while still stationed on Kamino.
In my opinion him teaching anyone is less likely than you, anon, think. The main issues he might encounter would be based on his inability to rely information in a comprehensive AKA “normal” way and he would constantly have to “fight” to be acknowledged by regs (I assume he would work with regular clone troopers as you’re asking about "duties in Kamino”) .
expanded explanation under the cut:
The scene, where Tech was shoved aside when he tried to "test the theory" about regular troopers acting odd, ended with Tech concluding that said troopers acted normal, which means Tech is used to being ignored by clone troopers. A teacher who can't get their students' respect or at least their attention has a lot to learn. Teacher's job is to pass down the knowledge, but the trust in the process is just as important as the knowledge itself.
Further more, teachers shouldn't boast about their knowledge, especially if it belittles their students in the process. We can see the instances of it when Tech disregards his bothers’ comprehension skills (especially Wrecker’s). It’s the best shown in the infamous "I though it was obvious" scene or in constant info-dumping like when he just recites wookipedia article about the tactical droid apparently to no-one, as Cid and Clone Force 99 knows exactly what the droid is capable of (whole team just nods their heads in acknowledgment when Cid asks them about it and it’s Tech who has to butt in with the explanation unprompted).
Furthermore, just relying the information is half the battle when it comes to teaching, making students remember the information and, more importantly, understand the meaning behind it is crucial. I see no practical reason for why Omega had to learn every single part of the ship before learning how to pilot it. Yes, knowing parts of the ship is important, but only the essentials that makes the next part of a lesson easier, then the knowledge is expanded upon, explained, revised and so on. Tech doesn’t know how proper learning process should look like and is unable to adjust it to his student’s level (in this particular case - a 13 year-old girl!).
To conclude: as much knowledge as Tech has, he lacks skills to communicate it properly. Furthermore his “students”/regs would not respect him as an outlier among clones.
However I can see him more likely learning those skills with Omega - It’s a way different quality of work when a teacher has respectful students willing to learn.
I hope it answers your question!

Do you think they shouldn't have cast John Kim as Agent Park? He has too much chemistry with Kennedy and he's so charismatic. He's like the everyman you want to hangout with, but then Alex Saxon is so sophisticated and he's like an acquired specific taste it's hard for them to compete when you see Park and Ace near Nancy. I think they got themselves into trouble because Nark is getting good reception, and how could they not? They haven't had any drama between them. Seems like they set up Ace to lose and I'm wondering if it's because John and Kennedy are only 3 years apart, but Alex and Kennedy are 10? It's hard to make sense of why they wrote Park the way they did, we are clearly meant to love him.
My first reaction to this was "NO, JHK IS A GIFT" 😂 I love that actor and all of the bts content he blessed us with was pure gold!
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I still don't personally think he has a very... sexy chemistry with Kennedy? People will probably think I'm just salty for that, but chemistry is subjective and I feel she had more with both Nick and Tamura, to be honest. But that's just me 🤷♀️ also the chemistry between Alex & Kennedy is still the biggest standout, as many articles have discussed as recently as last month!
Otherwise, I'm not on twitter so idk what's going on over there but the majority of my fandom exposure is still firmly anti-N*rk, so I've actually been thinking the writers probably didn't get the positive response I'd assumed they wanted to that relationship. So that's interesting.
I don't think actors' ages have anything to do with it - Tunji is the oldest (Drew crew) cast member at 35, while Leah is the youngest at 25, and Fanson has been the show's longest-running romance.
I'm having a hard time comprehending why they're pushing the Park agenda so hard, but I still think Nace will prevail in the end. It's kinda hard not to go with them at this point.

An analysis of the Bold Type that I need to get off my chest (it'll be worth it, I promise)
I studied English literature at university, and it has always been instinctive for me to analyse characters, storylines, bigger pictures and under the surface tensions in film & tv. Discussing emotions, motivations and themes with my gf and my pals late at night is one of my favourite pastimes ever and I love everything to do with filmography and art ahhhh. (I wrote my dissertation on David Bowie & The Artistry of Sexuality, ya feel me?)
The Bold Type isn't filmography at all, but I think Jane Sloan and Jacqueline Carlyle hit different for me, being a queer woman in my 20s and a full-time writer. I can't really explain why. I guess there are a lot of queer female characters in film & tv that don't really feel inherently queer, and even as two identifying straight women Jane and Jacqueline felt queer to me. Their connection and understanding of each other was authentic and quite complex. I think they had potential to be something that we'd never seen before in mainstream media, because of their age difference and life experiences. I thought that was so compelling and so important to talk about and to give a recognised space to.
There is one thing that struck me most about them and it's insane to me that I haven't seen a lot of analysis on it, so it's the point of this post.
To my knowledge the show or actors haven't delved too deeply into it either, and given what went down I don't understand why people AREN'T talking about it. I wanted to bring it up. Btw, this post contains spoilers.
***Sexual abuse trigger warning***
In season 1, we learn that Jacqueline is the victim of rape, and the only person she has told about it is her husband, Ian. Given that she mentions that they've been married for around 19 years and the assault happened before they met, we can assume Jacqueline has been carrying the weight of what happened to her for over two decades. During all that time she didn't talk about it with anyone else, not a single other person.
And then Tiny Jane comes along. Jane Sloan, the big swing writer who just wants to write meaningful stories that help other women and girls that need it, like she did growing up. She fucks up a lot on the way and slowly begins discarding her judgemental opinions as she grows. But when she is at her best she has genuine compassion and empathy for people, and despite her reservations, Jacqueline gives her the opportunity to write about the story of a rape survivor and performance artist. She isn't aware, at the time, what that means for her own trauma or her own acceptance of it. But she does it anyway, because she sees something in Jane and she has seen it there from the beginning.
Jane starts to write and, as we know, in the most beautiful and compelling moment at the season 1 finale, Jacqueline is confronted with what happened to her. She stands in Central Park holding these weights, and you can see the crushing pain in her eyes as the realisation descends down on her. She shares a look with Jane, and a moment of understanding passes between them at what this means.
Despite all this, she lets Jane capture her trauma. She lets her publish her untold experience of her rape from two decades gone. She lets millions of people see her story in writing, with Jane Sloan's name printed above it. She re-lives and faces up to the harsh reality of that pain and that truth, through Jane.
Can you even imagine the trust you must have in someone to do that? The sheer love that took, for Jacqueline to give Jane her voice and her truth, with all its painful and hard repercussions?
This storyline is the boldest part of the Bold Type. It's the most honest and the most authentic. It captures the raw emotion of Jacqueline, and of Jane, and the two characters really see each other for who they are. It's one of the reasons why their relationship is so central to the other's storyline.
We don't ever see Jane truly unpick in detail what Jacqueline did for her. It spoke so many volumes and ... well, isn't that what love is?
It's this storyline that sets the tone for their relationship over the course of the show. Jacqueline sacrifices herself for Jane again and again. She publishes the article about the lack of accessible healthcare at Safford and gets fired for doing so, purely so Jane can afford to freeze her eggs. Jacqueline says there were a lot of other things that contributed to it, but Jane knows her article was the final straw, the point of no return.
Over a decade of pouring everything she could give into Scarlet Magazine and it’s readers, only to be gone in a second. All for Jane.
And again, in season 4, in the few real moments we are given between them, one of their final interactions is Jacqueline giving Jane the go-ahead to explore a story of potential abuse at States & Nations, a company Ian is associated with. Ian literally asks Jacqueline to stop pursuing the story, due to the sexual relationship he had with the source when he and Jacqueline were separated. When Jane challenges Jacqueline over her reasoning for pulling the story, she asks her to give the story a chance. Jacqueline lets her, knowing full well that it could prove irreparably damaging to her marriage and her family, and she does it anyway.
Jacqueline chooses the truth, over her career and over her marriage. She chooses Jane. As humans, there isn't much more you can give to someone else. I’m wracking my brains trying to think of a way Jacqueline could portray her love for Jane more, and I’m all out of ideas.
I want to reiterate again how insane it is to me that none of this is really acknowledged, or at least not nearly as much as it should be amongst the show, its creators and its viewers, Jacqueline continually falls on her sword for Jane (weird analogy, but she does) and it is repeatedly glossed over. Their relationship is quickly dismissed as a "mother Jane never had" or a simple "boss/employee" power dynamic, and it seems so hollow, unjust and sorry - so unbelievably boring - in contrast to the experiences they have shared together and the sacrifices they have made.
I understand Jacqueline’s character was based on Cosmopolitan Editor in Chief, Joanna Coles, and therefore it makes sense that this queerness to her relationship with Jane was not intended. However, it’s there. Everything I mentioned in the post happened on the show in canon.
In 2021, the possibility that these two women could have romantic or sexual feelings towards each other shouldn't be a stretch. If either of these women were male characters with this much intertwined investment, high stakes and sacrifice, there would be no doubt they would be endgame. They would run away, have the hottest sex, all the while their reputations would be forever ruined in the name of love. And we, as viewers, would celebrate it without question - we would never dismiss it.
The concept of what they are, and what they can be as two women should be able to live and thrive. It should be given a beating heart. In the very least, the reality of it should be on the table and up for debate. But for many viewers, and the show’s creators, it just isn’t. And here lies the problem.
Jane and Jacqueline have such a beautiful dynamic, it is so deep and soul-wrenching. How can we ever limit what these two women are and what they would do for each other?
I really hope that one day we can see a relationship like theirs given the queer space it deserves. Because it would've been the bold thing (and the right thing) to do.
I'm going to publish a longer and more in-depth article about this on Medium, because as I said, analysing is my favourite pastime and I can't stop doing it. But for now, this is all I can manage.
Edit: Read my published Medium article.
Here's to Jane and Jacqueline and what could've been.

Actually, no, I changed my mind. I won't post your ask.
I'll be honest with you. I tend to assume good faith, all the time. Because I want people to have a path to grow, and because I want people to extend this to me, and because I hate to imagine someone making an honest mistake and being met with accusations of malicious intent. I have a long draft of a response to you, and it's not even finished. That's because I believe discussions are a good tool to come to an understanding when you're willing to learn. You say that you do believe I'm coming from a good place - and I appreciate that. But if you mean well, you're trying to deny things you shouldn't. You ignore a lot within the arguments I make and you give an answer to things I never said.
And I can't have a back and forth conversation about the media part, when this is your response to her real world politics:
"As for Rowling's friends, I'm not sure that's the best argument, considering she's also friends with Jewish and British trans activists, all of whom have publicly praised her character. Talking to people and having dinners with them doesn't mean she supports their views and most of the accusations people have made against her are proven lies."
First of all, I don't care how many Jewish friends she has, if she also has friends willing to ally themselves with Nazis. An ally of the Nazis is a Nazi.
Having dinners with people doesn't mean you endorse their ideas. Buying their political merch, does - as she did from Posie Parker. Writing articles praising their activism, does - as she did with Magdalen Berns. Praising their work, does - as she did regarding Matt Walsh's transphobic movie.
A politician cited JK Rowling to block legislation that was meant to prevent discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. Obviously she's causing harm regardless of her friends.
I meant to ask you to name those trans activists that you say praise her (current praise, not from before she declared herself a TERF), and to ask you for proof that it's all lies. But that's pretty useless, given that I've seen her promote transphobia myself. I'm not turning trans people into a debate game. If you think those actions aren't really that bad, I don't think there's a point in us having a conversation. You're either transphobic or you don't care - which amounts to the same thing, and means I won't be having a conversation with you. If you don't know what actions I'm talking about, you need to do a better search.
So, like I said, we won't have a back and forth. Just to close the topic of fantasy creatures as stand-ins for marginalized groups, I'll say this:
You acted like it's ridiculous to think Rowling's werewolves are an allegory for HIV. I showed you they are. But you still can't accept that the goblins can be an allegory for Jews, and you say this is "like saying the enslaved elves from Dragon Age are stand-ins for real groups of people."
I always thought that the elves pull a lot from Jewish, Romani, and Native American history. I wondered what other people from those groups think. So I went to google, to find conversations and media analysis. Instead, guess what:
I discovered that David Gaider outright said it.
You come and tell me you're trying to dispel rumors and lies - essentially accusing me of spreading them. You just don't understand the issues you're trying to discuss with me. You're arguing from ignorance.
I found that screenshot through a simple google search, just like I found what she said about lycanthropy. Because it is obvious in the text. I didn't look for confirmation from Gaider, I had no idea the creators discussed this - I looked for opinions from Roma and Indigenous people.
Because it's in the text.
You're ignoring the reality of speculative fiction. People tell stories about people. SciFi robot rebellions are like this too: they have their roots in the idea of workers or enslaved people revolting against those that exploit them. I think a book of this kind is how we even got the word robot. Even The Aristocats - not even speculative fiction, just a story about cats - is about people, and it has issues of racism.
If you can't see something like this unless it's named - if it can't be antisemitic unless the character is Jewish in canon - I don't mean to be insulting, but at this point you have an issue of media literacy.
I don't think JKR wrote HP goblins on purpose to be hateful. I don't think Rowling was sitting there, cackling to herself, thinking of how to make the goblins as antisemitic as possible. But even after being horrified that Jewish people see antisemitism in her work, she wrote Fantastic Beasts to have a villain that claims he's trying to prevent the holocaust - which means she had the heroes positioned to make sure it happens. She abused the memory of the holocaust in her story. It doesn't matter if she isn't hateful when she's this careless.
She is openly hateful, not towards Jews, but towards trans people. She was intentional and malicious when she wrote story about a man who dresses up as a woman to murder women - that's a famously transphobic trope. That book is real, not an accusation that was disproved.
Her current passion in life is transphobia. She's influencing anti-queer legislation. If you're okay with that, you're transphobic, and I'm not interested in talking to you.
You know, anon, you sent me 914 words. I checked because I was curious. I don’t mind that, I’m just saying it to warn you - I’m not very good at being concise, and you gave me a lot to respond to. You might end up with a very long post when I answer.
Are you the same anon as this one? You seem to be, but I don't want to assume. At first I skimmed your message on my phone (couldn’t hope to reply there - I’d have to scroll up and down way too much, just to see what I’m responding to) and I thought "huh, that seems nice and interesting." I didn’t realize at first glance how many times you were being disrespectful. I'm open to being corrected - I had lovely interactions in the past with people who came to correct me over something I said. I love meeting people this way, tbh. But "dispel rumors and lies"? Nice accusation you have there.
I'll post your ask and respond to it, but it'll take time. I want to give you some sources on the influence of antisemitism on folklore this time, since you insist on pretending I'm making it up. For now, this post that I reblogged is lovely reading material on the topic of the goblins in harry potter specifically.
#riki babbles#antisemitism#transphobia#hogwarts legacy#not really but it's a continuation of that conversation#so in case my followers want to filter out the tag#this is me trying to give someone a short reply to end a conversation#I'm really bad at this#HP#JKR

I gonna break in this acocunt with me being angry about something that doesn't really matter (very fitting for tumblr if you ask me), this article.
First: "And I’m sorry to open with this, but part of that is due to the age difference between them. Two years is hardly worlds apart (I’m personally working with four), but a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl are. Especially the way these two are drawn. Not to be too voyeuristic about Y7 cartoons, but Katara has clearly gone through puberty, while Aang hasn’t. There is something just…off, about a sixth grade boy having a full on make-out sesh with a high school girl."
This argument is one of the most stupid ones if you ask me, because it blatantly ignores the culture we have been presented by the show. I can understand why people find this weird, but we have to try not to look at it as if its our society, because its not. In A:tla, specifically the water tribes, 16 is marrying age. Right there, our "age norms" (idk what else to call it) are very different. And there are no divisions between ages in their world like we have with middle and high school. To me, two people are fit to be together based on their maturity, not their age. That's why 45 & 40 is not the same as 15 & 10, or 20 & 15. This is the same for Kataang. They have very similar life experiences and matured together, literally side by side, so a two year ago gap is irrelevant.
Second: "...Katara took on a very maternal role with Aang. Sure, she’s a caretaker and sort of a “mom friend,” but it’s a bit more than that. She served as his literal guardian during the show’s run—there’s just no other way to look at it. By the third episode, she called herself his “family,” and later even went on to role play as his mother to get him out of trouble at school. Aang, meanwhile, was… Well, I wouldn’t say “immature” for his age, […] However, Katara is 14 going on 25, while Aang is just, Aang."
There's a compilation of Katara doing thing with Aang that if someone saw a mother doing with her son they would call it incest:
Katara definitely acts motherly towards Aang, but that is just her nature. She is more than just motherly with him. And some people like to call the check kisses familial (which is kinda weird imo), but we know Katara herself doesnt think that:
"Easy there, big brother" She pushes Sokka away. Not to mention, this was about a scene or two before she kisses Aang on the check.
Calling someone close to you your family does not mean you see them in the same way you see your parents/siblings. And Sokka played Aang's father in that scene, but we aren't sitting here using that as evidence to call him Aang's paternal figure.
Something Aang haters forget (or chose to ignore) is that being lighthearted and goofy does not equal immature. Yes, Aang does some juvenile things, but that shouldn't take away from his growth and maturity.
Third: "In fact, in the last season, Katara was shown to be uncomfortable each time Aang kisses her, and even went as far as to tell him to back off with the romantic stuff in the episode before the finale, because she was confused about how she felt. [*new paragraph*] Yet, in the end, she just trots up and blushes at Aang, than happily makes out with him when he goes for it,"
Katara initiated 2/4 of the kataang kisses (not including the check kisses). The kiss in The Cave of Two Lovers and the kiss in the finale. Yes, she's the one that "goes for it" in the finale (she also initiates the hug). She only pulls away once out of the 3 times we see a kiss end (this would be excluding the kiss in The Cave of Two Lovers). She wasn't confused about her feelings, she didn't want to have to worry about a relationship when they were nearing the end of the war.
Fourth: "The post-canon comics only furthered the lack of exploration of her feelings in this relationship"
Fifth: "[referencing a scene in The Promise in which Katara is jealous of a fanclub being around Aang] "I'm sorry, this amazing, adult communication is blowing me away"
The are both still teenagers, who have zero previous relationship experience. Also, Aang had no ill intentions and Katara recognized it.
Sixth: [refencing Katara's role in The Legend of Korra] "Did Katara want to do anything other than sit in a healing hut and be known for having Aang's kids?"
This is another argument that just pisses me off. You can not use Katara's lifestyle in her 80s (she is 85 in s1) as judgement for her adulthood. It's purely assumption based. Constantly this author assumes that because she is in a relationship with Aang, Katara would drop her whole personality. What? Katara would not and could not be forced to do something or conform to some label and Aang wouldn't let it get to that point either. He would squash any idea that she is just "The Avatar's wife" or "The mother of the Avatar's children" the minute he heard it.
Seven: [comparing Katara's reaction to Aang The Desert to Aang's reaction to Katara in The Southern Raiders] "You'll spend a long time looking for her condescending tones. "Anger won't help, Aang," Katara never said, because she got that he was processing something painful and needed to sort it out himself. This difference in behavior is something that would be really fitting for a twelve year old boy to learn and understand. There's just no indication that he ever did."
Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I don't remember Aang being condescending towards Katara. He was offering his advice because he knew her and knew that she would regret doing what she thought was right when her judgement was clouded by anger. And guess what. He was right. He never forced anything on her, either. Sure, he was a bit more pushy than he could've been, but in the end he let her go on the trip with no complaints. He even agreed that this was something she had to do.
Eighth: [referencing The Ember Island Players] "When the actor says 'Wait! I thought you were the Avatar's girl', Aang agrees. Katara is his."
You know damn well Aang doesn't see Katara as just his. And she's give him PLENTY of reason to believe that his feelings are reciprocated (which they are).
Ninth: "It's the story of a woman who swallows everything lest the man she's interested in has to learn anything about his behavior that violates her boundaries."
Ha! You said she was interested in him.
But in all seriousness, you mentioned how Katara stood her ground and told Aang that she was confused, but apparently now she's swallowing her feeings.
Tenth: [talks about the cloud babies daddy issues]
I don't disagree with what is said here, for the most part, but I don't think it is a reflection on Aang and Katara's relationship.
Eleventh: "... given what what we got with Kataang, it's completely unsurprising that Aang and Katara's parenthood/adult life was defined by a lack of communication and availability, at least from what we can tell. This also puts Katara's choice to immediately moved to the South Pole once Aang died in perspective; perhaps the city he poured all his energy into, at the cost of his family, held some bitter memories."
Once again with the lack communication. We can't use the early years of their relationship to determine their whole relationship. Also, there wasn't consistently a lack of communication, you just pointed out one time and ran with it.
We don't know at what point Katara moved back to the South Pole, but there are plenty of reasons for Katara to leave Air Temple Island:
a) Her son moving in/or planning to move in with his family.
b) She was no longer needed in the city and thus had no need to stay.
c) She wanted to go back to her native home for comfort after the love of her life died at a relatively early age.
d) The next Avatar was discovered and she came home to train them.
That's all. Thank you for reading my unnecessary rant if you made it this far, and I just want to close out with a few things:
- There were some things in the article that I did not include for the fear of this becoming a novel of me repeating myself.
- I agree with most thing said in the final segment of the the article. Most, not all.
- I appreciate the author for not trying to shove Zutara in just because Kataang wasn't there. That is becoming increasingly uncommon, so it was nice to see.

My love| Echo (part 7)
Note: This ones got a lot of small details that add up to one and Its comin along
Warnings: sad echo and shocking information
Reader: Male
Part: 1 | 2 | 3 | 3.5 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
"Dad! Dad come on!" Rosyln cheered jumping on the bed.
"Come on dad! It's snowing!"
Echo groaned, "Come on dad!"
Rolling over to his back his little girl jumped into his chest.
"Man you're gettin big." Echo spoke as she smiled.
"Come on! Get up!" She cheered getting off the bed, "Dad's outside already!"
He smiled, sitting up he rubbed his back.
"Okay. Okay." Echo spoke pulling himself out a bed and grabbing a poncho hanging on the end of the bed.
"Yes!" She cheered rushing off, her boots making heavy thuds against the wooden floor as she ran to go meet her father outside.
Pulling on a turtle neck he pulled on the poncho afterwards, still in his sleeping joggers he walked through the house and to the front door.
"Okay Rosyln," he chuckled, walking out of the house and onto the porch, looking around he chuckled, seeing boot prints in the snow.
Following them he snuck around the side of the house, at the corner he heard giggling.
"I got you!" He shouted happily turning the corner but no one was there.
Looking around in confusion his eyebrows knitted togegher.
"Rosyln?" He called out looking around, "Rosyln? Darling? Where are you!?"
"Dad!" She shouted for, fear lacing her voice, "Dad!"
He rushed toward her voice rushing towards the sound of her voice, running around the side of the house he looked for her.
"Rosyln! Rosyln! Where are you!" He shouted, "where are you!"
"Echo! Echo!"
He jolted, Hunter holding his shoulder's, his breath heavy, a face filled with fear and pain.
"Echo! Hey. Hey. Calm down. Calm. Down." Hunter spoke, "it's me. It's Hunter."
"I." Echo started, but couldn't get out any words, "Hunter I."
"Hey. Don't explain it, just. Breathe." Hunter deamanded.
Echo's ragged breath started to slow, Hunter's hands on Echo's shoulders.
"W-when did I fall asleep?" He questioned looking around, the ship still in hyperspace.
"Echo I came in to check on you before I put Omega to bed. You we're staring off into space." Hunter told him, "Echo you need rest."
"No," Echo spoke, "I- Im fine."
Hunter sighed, taking a seat in the co-piolts chair, "You know. I'll never understand what you're go through."
Echo was silent as he rubbed his eyes, "but I do understand wanting to get someone back, when Omega got taken by that bounty hunter... I. I didn't know what I'd do if I didn't get her back."
Echo leaned back in the chair, "I know you lost alot, and you shouldn't have to loose one more."
Echo pulled the small disk out his belt pouches.
"You looked at it?" Echo questioned looking down at the disk, "this?"
Hunter nodded softly, "Y/n's mentioned on it? Yeah?" Echo questioned.
Hunter responded with a second nod, "and...the kids? His brothers and sisters? They must be mentioned on it."
"Yeah,Echo they are." Hunter told.
Echo nodded, sitting back up and leaning over as he looked at the disk he ran between his fingers. Soon handing it to Hunter.
"Echo." He told, "You need to see whats on there."
"No. I just need Y/n." He told Hunted who took the disk softly, "and just a bit more time to think is all."
Hunter nodded, getting up, "Tech, will, uh, switch shifts with you."
Echo nodded as Hunter left him to his own devices.
Hoth was a desolate planet, despite the white which gave it's bright apperance.
The wind rushed passed the cloaked figure as he held onto the hood, the wind dying down as he let go of it.
In the distance as the snow settled stood two figures.
"Norman. Stay here."
The white haired boyed covered by a black thick poncho nodded as the cloaked figured moved forward, the figures meeting him half way.
"Thank you! For coming!" He shouted as the wind roared.
"It is an honor to be fighting with you! My wife, and my second hand! Eleni!" The twilek male spoke.
"It is an honor!" She chattered out, cold as the wind picked up once more.
"Apologizes for the meeting point!" Rosyln apologized, "as You may know! I am Project Rosyln! Follow me!"
They followed the male back to the ship, Norman the young boy had already taken shelter inside.
"Norman, these are the Syundullas, Eleni and Cham." He introduced, the boy in white nodded.
"I am Norman, it's nice to meet you."
The two nodded in response, everyone removing there extra article of chlothing.
"This must be important if one of you're parents sent there children." Eleni spoke, "and such with such a meeting point."
"This...is a different matter. Please. We have much to discuss."
"You may take rest." Tech spoke walking into the cockpit, bur got no response, walking towards the chair Echo was slumped over, sleeping in crossed arms at the edge of the control panel.
Tech let him rest, taking co-piolts chair as he leaned back, datapad in hand as he started looking through what he had copied from the disk. He had figured he would see more resources, more death tolls and ways to die by the new and improved empires hand, and he was right. More imperal codes, new weapons arrays and ways to pass on, most vulgar, violating, dishonorable and disrespectful.
They had already taken people prison, why disrespect them in death as well. The longer he looked- the more confused he became, most files corrupted and named weridly, letters of the basic alphabet. He kept himself up, going through file after file, werid code being written that he couldn't understand or translate, but there was one thing that stood out to him: one time mentioned one time saw: CT in bold the only thing in galatic basic and an attached file of a hand print.
Then it clicked.
Getting up quickly he walked out of the cockpit, rushing to Omega's bunk.
"Omega. Omega!" He tried waking her up.
"What?" She asked waking up, eyes still half closed, "Tech?"
"What is Echo's Friends CT number?"
"What?"
"You know all the CT- numbers by heart don't you?" He questioned.
"Uh. Yeah?" She questioned, "why?"
"Echo's Friends CT number! What is it?" He questioned, "You know the one friend he won't talk about?"
"You mean Fives? Nala Se talked about him once-"
"Fives? Fives what's his name? Why?"
"Well his CT number was CT-5555-" Omega told, "but he died, why?"
"Because it's not by number is by letter! The letters from the files! They spell out a name! Fives must be a key name if Rosyln is Y/n!"
"What?" Omega asked confused.
"But Fives isnt a possible solution- so what does Fives repersent..." Tech thought out loud.
"He made it to Arc Trooper I heard." Omega spoke yawned.
"Arc Trooper?" Tech questioned as Omega nodded, "Has anyone been created to be a higher ranking trooper?"
"Well you know the basic trainning?" Omega questioned sitting up fully.
Tech nodded, "The Kaminonins would add onto that but not genetically, besides clone force 99, not that I know of."
"Not that you know of?"
Omega nodded, "I had top clearance too due to Nala Se. So I seen everything on Kamino."
"Had they ever transported machinery off world? Anything?"
"Yeah a few broken tubes, a long time ago. I found it odd."
"How many?"
"Mhmm...20? Maybe 25?" Omega spoke, "they were odd looking, I assumed they were protoyoes that failed."
"But that doesn't make sense." Tech argued.
"What are you yelling about here in Tech?" Hunter spoke walking back to the two.
"Yeah Im tryin to sleep." Wrecker argued joining them.
"Hunter, these files that have been sent to us have a message incrypted the only possible thing being able to read is CT in basic."
"And?" Hunter argued, "what does that have to with you shouting my ears off?"
"Fives would be someone only Echo knew-"
"Rex would of known him too." Hunter told.
"Yes but Y/n's met us not rex." Tech spoke, "Y/n's met Echo's newest squad mates but not his old ones. As they are separated. They'd be no actual time to interact with them."
"Okay so that's why we went to Zut not Rex." Hunter spoke, "It still doesnt explain why you're shouting over something so simple."
"But listen!" Tech spoke, "Fives has to stand for something, right?"
"Okay but where does fives come in?" Hunter questioned.
"This hand print." Tech spoke, "the hand print is obvioisly gloved and is the size of a regs hand. Something Echo had gotten standing next to Fives, further explaining why Fives is an important person in finding Y/n. Not to mention Echo's the only one who knew Roslyn and Fives well."
"Okay so mentioning Fives does what now exactly. Echo can't understand this! Wrecker couldn't even scribble this!" Hunter argued, "its basically pictures and scribbles."
"Hey!" Wrecker argued as Hunter snatched the data pad showing it to Wrecker to prove his point.
"Hey I've seen this before!" Wrecker spoke.
"Excuse me?"
Wrecker nodded handing off the datapad to Omega, "Echo has markings like that on his blasters."
"Wait, so Echo know's what this is?" Hunter asked.
Wrecker shrugged, "I guess? Hey! Maybe it's like me and Omega's secret code!"
"Oh yeah!" Omega cheered.
"Secret code?" Tech questioned, "that's it! It makes sense! The reason Fives and Rosyln is important! The way it's written like this! Echo's been right this whole time!"
"But that still doesnt explain the Kaminonin tubes." Omega spoke, "Unless there are Kaminonin files."
"Just a few medical documents, nothing we don't know." Tech informed
"Wait. Why would Y/n have a hold of Kaminonin medical document's, he's never seen battle he doesnt need strong medical trainning." Hunter questioned.
"So what? Y/n was like an enchanted clone?" Wrecker laughed, "Good one Tech."
The group looked back at Wrecker.
"What?" He asked, "Oh come on. Y/n looks nothing like us! We don't even have the same eye color!"
"What happens if Y/n's not a clone of Jango Fett. Yet of someone else?" Tech questioned.
"Hey." Omega questioned looking down at the data pad, "I found one combination to those letters Tech. What's Project Star Killer?"

Blue Hour || Amane Yugi pt. 3/5
(Amane Yugi x Fem! Reader)
genre: romance, drama and a bit of fantasy
summary: amane and [name] stopped communicating after the pen pal project
“When we lost each other.”
The quarter felt like a shooting star, it was fast in a blink of an eye. As the late night calls stopped and so as the letters.
Amane laid down on his bed, staring at the messages that he and [name] exchanged. Something was weird, it's been a week since they chatted after the pen pal project was over.
Though, he doesn't want to assume that he has been ghosted, yet the situation is the same. Not being able to receive messages from the person Amane likes, it's definitely ghosting.
Amane stayed up all night, not because of star gazing, his honey amber eyes had lost their shine and looked like a zombie with eyebags forming under his eyes.
She disappeared like a ghost.
“You disappeared for an instant, like a faint ghost, you disappeared.”
Amane felt his eyes brimming with tears, he didn't get used to it, it's like being alone again. He never met [name], yet why was he crying for her?
‘This is not supposed to happen right? You're not supposed to fall for your pen pal Amane.’ the voice inside his very own head told him.
‘She's just a pen pal, Amane. Nothing special, you shouldn't cry about her.'
'It's all gone'
‘Don't disappear now, I'm searching for you’
‘It felt like the summer was winter without you.’
‘It's all gone, now. It's over.’
“Now I just missed you...” Amane choked back a sob. His heart was clenching making it difficult to breathe. It felt like he was having an anxiety attack, he wanted to make the feeling disappear.
Now that [name] was gone.
He wanted to disappear as well.
Amane hugged his knees hunched over while lying down. His phone was the only source of light inside the room since the moon isn't there when he needed.
Just like he needed [name].
But the thing is,
She nowhere.
She's gone.
Amane doesn't know what to do.
It's all gone.
“Whoah Yugi, you okay bud?” Yamabuki sat next to the young boy who was staring into space, his eyes were sore from crying and his eyebags are turning darker. “You look wasted man.”
“Yeah, I'm okay.” Amane smiled, even though he was hurting and grieving inside. To everyone it looked like it was the brightest smile, but in reality it was fake.
“No you're not, Amane-kun.” Yashiro interrupted, crossing her arms in front of Amane. She placed a hand on his shoulder, looking at him reassuringly. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Truth to be told, Amane does need someone to talk with. He's been bottling up all his tears and suffering because of [name]'s sudden disappearance. His smile faltered, casting down to his desk and nodded gravely. Yashiro grabbed his hand before dragging him out to class.
“I thought you liked [name]?!” Yamabuki yelled out.
Yashiro stopped as the two of them arrived on the rooftop. Amane's shoulders slumped a little bit. “So tell me what's going on?” she asked.
Amane was silent for a while, he felt his eyes watering. Yashiro wrapped an arm around his shoulder, telling him to calm down before he can tell her.
And so he did, starting from the day he learned that [name] was his pen pal, to the epiphany of falling for [name]. Yashiro listened, nodding on every word he says. “Maybe it's a sign that you two should meet?”
“Huh?” Amane rubbed his eyes using his hands. “What do you mean?”
“I've read this somewhere in books!” Yashiro tells Amane with a smile on her face. “I always see this kind of plot, and it is time to apply it to the two of you!”
“The two of you are some sort of soulmates!”
Amane squinted his eyes in disbelief at Yashiro, a typical someone who doesn't believes in soulmates and then they meet in some point for plot purposes. After Yashiro had elaborated the term soulmate, she bids goodbye on Amane because she promised Aoi that they will go on a "date" together.
Amane saw her figure slowly going away from him, but he didn't try to call her back or even yell that he used to like Yashiro. Besides, the young boy already had fallen for [name] and was foolish for trusting his intuition that he wouldn't.
He gave a one last glance at the sky before going back inside to his respective classroom.
“Come on Minamoto-kun, beat Tsukasa-senpai up!” Mitsuba encouraged Kou who was randomly pressing the buttons of his controller whilst his electric blue eyes remain glued on screen. Tsukasa, his opponent, was concentrating really hard to win the video game.
Amane was sitting on his swivel chair, reading [name]'s last letter before the project's end. He was reading it for like...fifteen times already.
“Senpai, you've been staring at that letter for a while...” Kou worriedly pointed out. Tsukasa told him to leave him for a while since he was on a state of singularity.
Amane puts down the letter and sighed heavily. The three of them went over to the older twin to see what was going on. “Not gonna lie that pen pal is creative as hell.” Mitsuba remarked. “Anyways, may I see the letter?”
Amane nodded as he handed the pink haired boy the letter. Mitsuba carefully unfolded the letter and started to read. He grabbed the envelope and started to examine it. Mitsuba notices from the back of the envelope, a slightly peeled off paper. “Hey, Yugi-senpai,” he called. “I think there's a post card stuck on the back of the envelope.”
Kou scrunches his nose. “They probably didn't mean to stick the post card and paint it to camouflage it—”
“Okay who has long nails here?” Amane sighed as he looked at his cutted nails. “I recently cut mine.”
Mitsuba peeled off the postcard from the envelope with ease. He gave the post card faced down to Amane. As Amane receives the card, he flipped it up and saw something that made his stomach drop.
It was the ferris wheel that Amane saw in his dream along with the unfamiliar girl. The question is, what does the ferris wheel have to do with that? “A ferris wheel?” Tsukasa asked.
“This is the ferris wheel I saw in my dream last time—” Amane let out a shaky breath and pointed at the ferris wheel. “There was this girl who appears in my dream two times in different places. One with the carousel and the recent one is this ferris wheel on the post card.”
“Hm? I heard this one from an article that dreaming about a ferris wheel means that you don't want interruptions when you're excited.” Kou explained. “A carousel is a symbol of childish joy, which means that you don't want to forget in the past.”
“Then how about that unfamiliar girl?” Mitsuba asked.
“She could be someone from a past life?”
“If a carousel symbolizes as childhood happiness does that mean that girl was linked to you as a child?”
“I didn't even have a female childhood friend.” Amane crosses his legs. “Besides even if that girl was my childhood friend I wouldn't be able to recognize her.”
“Do you have any information about [name]-san, anyways?” Tsukasa asked.
“She goes to Sanaol Academy, which was far from here.” Amane answered monotonously. “It'll take a subway to go there.”
“How do you know then?” Kou asked.
“I researched her school online, and it was an all girls school.” Amane wetted his lips while brushing his hair back using his fingers. “It's a four hour ride—”
“Four hours?!” Tsukasa, Kou and Mitsuba yelled in disbelief. The three looked at each other and nodded as they knew what they're thinking. Amane raised a perfect brow at them, then looking at the post card on his hand. “That's just—”
“Hold up.” Amane raised his hand to stop them from talking. “The post card that Mitsuba peeled recently, there's something that was written on the back of the envelope.”
There are dots and dashes on the back of the envelope. It is some sort of morse code. Mitsuba thought it was kinda extra since they could've just say the actual letters instead of encoding the message for minutes.
The four of them spent hours to encode the morse, Amane leaned back to his swivel chair as he wiped a sweat from his forehead. “So what does it say?” Tsukasa asked.
Mitsuba and Kou looked over to Amane's shoulder to see the message along with Tsukasa.
“You and me in 5:53 at the ferris wheel...?” Amane says as if it was a question. He turned his head towards the four and gave them a lazy but determined smile. “How would you three like a bonding trip to find [name]?”
“I'm in!” Kou smiled whilst showing both of his canines and pointed at himself. “I'm totally in for some trip!”
“I guess I'll come too.” Mitsuba blew a raspberry and shrugged. “Only because I'm bored as hell.”
“If Amane's going then I'm going too!” Tsukasa wrapped his arms around his older twin causing the latter to elicit an 'oof' from his lips.
“Well that makes us four then. We'll go tomorrow.” Amane tells them.
“Tomorrow?” Mitsuba asked. “What time?”
“Since [name] said to meet at 5:53 pm by the ferris wheel, which wasn't specifically mentioned where and what, I guess we'll ride at dawn.” Amane looked at his laptop and started to peck the keyboard using his fingers. “When we arrive at Sanaol Academy, we'll ask for directions for the ferris wheel from the post card.”
“I have a theory though,” Kou tells him. “It could be a possibility that [name] is the person in your dreams.”
Then it clicked him into epiphany, why didn't he thought of that before? But again, Amane has no idea what [name] looked like anyways. He shouldn't be jumping in to conclusions that fast. Just because the girl who keeps appearing in his dreams doesn't mean it's already [name].
[name].
Amane lets out an exaggerated sigh from his lips and slouched against the swivel chair. He really did miss [name]'s company, even if it's just letters and texts.
Who knows, maybe tomorrow during their trip, they will meet. Amane makes sure of it, he wanted to see [name].
He wanted her to know how much he misses her after they lost each other. He can't go on.
Not without her.

Disney Debunking 3: How does Chip exist?
I've been seeing this one for years now, so now is a good time to tackle it. Let's break down the arguments:
Mrs. Potts is too old to have possibly given birth to Chip and can't be his real mother.
The castle has been cursed for 10 years, yet Chip is clearly younger than 10. How is this possible?
Okay, so looking at the first argument: we don't actually know how old Mrs. Potts is. I tried googling it, but we *all* know how that always works out for Disney characters...
Yeah, remember this guy?
So this is what came up, and none of the Disney wikias had any hard facts either.
Why do they say she's "clearly in her 50s or 60s"? Sure, she has white/grey hair. But according to webMD (yeah, I know: not the greatest medical source. But this is an informal discussion about Disney characters, so I think it'll suffice) Caucasians typically begin to grey in their 30s, and greying begins earlier in women on average.
Source:
Mrs. Potts has NO visible wrinkles/liver spots too, so all this supports the idea that she's actually <50 years old. The woman isn't even drawn with crow's-feet. Frankly, the writer at decider.com just wanted a conspiracy/conflict to write an article about. And nothing sells like dissing Disney!
Disney Fandom wiki says that Chip is 7. I have no idea if the movie confirms this, but I agree he's definitely younger than 10 (more on that later). I'm going to use that number for the sake of argument 1.5 though (determining Potts's age range). As decider.com pointed out, we do see at least 6 other teacups in the cupboard when Chip is told to go sleep with his siblings. Assuming there were no twins and each kid was roughly 1 year apart, that gives us 13 years. We're talking pre-Revolution France here, so Potts likely married young. Possibly at around 16. This means that Mrs. Potts *could* be as young as 16+13=29 years old. Yeah, that's younger than average to completely grey; but not impossible, especially when you consider the stress from running the castle housekeeping staff and birthing/raising SEVEN children. That takes a toll on the body, y'all. And NO, decider.com, that is NOT "a lot of children for one middle-aged, single housekeeper." In fact, until the last century that was probably the average number of children for a fertile, married woman who hasn't died in childbirth. It is entirely plausible to say Mrs. Potts is somewhere between 30-50 years old, so she would have been 23-43 when giving birth to Chip***. That's completely normal. Unless, y'know, she was a teapot.
Whoop! Perfect transition into part two! So if "for ten years [they]'ve been rusting" as enchanted furniture, *how* is Chip younger than 10 years old? Was he born as a teacup?
No.
So, it has always seemed super uncool that the Enchantress cursed the ENTIRE castle staff for the Beast being a dick. Which is true. They shouldn't have been punished because their 11 year old boss was a turd-human. Maybe the curse wasn't quite as bad for them though.
We know the Beast definitely ages while "enchanted". In the Enchanted Christmas midquel, the preteen pre-Beast Prince is definitely younger than post-Beast Prince Adam at the end of the original. I'm pretty sure I recall all the servants looking the same though (I'd need to rewatch it). Why should we assume that the servants all age as furniture though? The Beast is still a living mammalian-type thing. Everyone else becomes an inanimate object.
I posit that it makes more sense none of the servants age. That's why 7 year old Chip is still 7 when the curse breaks. That's why the stool dog didn't die halfway into the enchantment. Only Prince Adam has to lose out on a decade of his life. Everyone else gets to pick back up from the day that Enchantress knocked on the door. And we're talking magic, so it's not hard to believe that the servants all magically stay the same mental age as well.
Makes sense to me, and it eliminates the alleged plot holes. So final verdict: Mrs. Potts is NOT too old to be Chip's mother, and it does NOT make you cool to hate on Disney. Just let people like what they like.
***EDIT: so I realized that I forgot to add in Chip's age when I did my maths... In no way do I think this destroys my argument, but the 13 years sum would correlate to Chip's birth, not Mrs. Potts's current age. My sum should have been ~20 years. That would give 36 as her minimum age (if she married at 16, which wasn't uncommon in that time period) . I still contend she is anywhere between 36-50 years old at the time of the curse (then 10 years of not aging as a teapot). Just felt the need to point out my stupid miscalculation!

Always be Yours-5
Word Count:4,476
Story Summary: Inspired by the 2 part I did of the same title. Follows Dean and Reader through season 9 into season 10
Chapter Summary: During a hunt a spell results with Dean tapping into his more k-9 nature
Warnings: ridiculousness along with the usual
After the interruption by Sam the night after Charlie left you expected Dean to find a moment to ask you whatever it was but it seemed as if he intended to act as if that moment had never happened between the two of you. Your bruises healed and with Kevin's mini vacation being over life in the bunker went back to as normal as it ever was.
You had just walked into the map room where Sam was sitting at the table when Dean walked in from the hall "Wow" you cut your eyes at him as you handed Sam a cup of coffee than sat across from him with your own "What?" Sam asked turning to look at his brother. "Kevin, I just poured some buffalo milk down his gob twice" you stifled a laugh. Poor kid was still recovering from Branson. "Buffalo milk?" Sam asked and without thinking you spoke over Dean "Hangover cure-all. Has everything in it except buffalo milk" Dean raised one eyebrow at you knowing what he meant and Sam not but luckily before he could comment on it Sam said what you were thinking "How is that kid still recovering from Branson?" "What can I say he's an amatuer. The slippery nipple shots at the Dolly Parton dixie stampede nearly killed the guy" "Not the slippery nipples" you muttered into your coffee and made both boys look your way with matching smirks before Sam told Dean he may have found a case.
"Are you sure you're up for a case Sammy?" Dean asked and you braced yourself for the ongoing back and forth where Sam would assure you and Dean both he was feeling fine and Dean would express his and yours concerns because the two of you actually knew what Sam's insides were like. "I am Dean. Look, Kevin's back on the heaven spell. Crowley's locked up so we should be out there doing what we do best. Plus we have Y/N here so three hunters are better than two"
Dean glanced your way but you kept your eyes trained on the coffee swirling around in your cup when Sam asked him "Are you at least going to listen?" Dean finally looked away from you and waved a hand "Go ahead" You turned to look at Sam as he started reading from the article "Taxidermist named Max Alexander crushed to death. Nearly every joint in his body dislocated, every bone broken. Poor guy is a human pretzel. You tell me what's got that kind of strength" "A demonic luchador?" Dean offered and the eye roll Sam gave him was deep enough you were certain Sam saw his own brain. "Shop's a couple hours away in Enid Oklahoma. We should at least check it out. Y/N you in?"
You looked up and shrugged "Sure, why not" Dean still hadn't said yes or not so Sam pushed "Unless there's some reason you think we shouldn't Dean" When you stayed quiet Dean finally let out a breath "Meet you both in the garage in twenty"
------
You sat in the backseat of the impala doing your best not to look Dean's way so you busied yourself with talking to Sam,double checking emails from other hunters and even fussing with your suit jacket. When baby finally came to a stop outside of Mounted Treasures Taxidermy you were relieved to get out of close quarters. Maybe you needed a break from the bunker too? You'd decide after this case.
You fell in step behind Sam and let out a low whistle when you saw the words "DIE SCUM" written in what you hoped was just red paint on the side of the building. Dean cut his eyes at you "Subtle isn't it?" Sam pointed out a symbol on the end of the letter M. It was an upside down triangle with a paw print inside. "I don't recognize it" you said before Sam took a photo "We'll look it up later"
Dean opened the door and motioned for you to go ahead so you smirked "Age before beauty" he rolled his eyes but stepped inside so you walked in between him and Sam. The interior of the building was even less welcoming than the message on the wall "The creep factor just skyrocketed" Dean muttered and you nodded in agreement glancing around at all the mounted animals lining the walls.
When Dean spoke the officer who you were assuming was in charge of the scene turned and spotted the three of you "Woah woah woah" You knew the drill so you had your badge out before Sam did the introductions "Agents Michaels, Deville and Jameson" motioning to Dean, himself than you in turn. The officer immediately turned a lot friendlier "The body's already went to the morgue just wrapping it up with Dave Stephens" then explained that Mr Stephens was who discovered the body. You glanced at the back room then back to the officer when he added "Sure a shame. I used to go hunting with Max. He was a real good egg"
"Sorry for your loss" Dean told him and you nodded in agreement. The officer thanked you both so Dean then said "Mind showing my partners around? I just got a couple questions for Mr Stephens" The officer nodded "Ok, Come on"
You walked in behind Sam and spotted the "Game of thrones" themed animals on the desk and nudged Sam. He picked one up and turned getting Dean's attention. If looks could actually scold anyone the look Dean threw at you and Sam was Bobby level scolding so you smirked then took the animal from Sam and replaced it with the others. You turned back to Sam "So emf? Hex bags?" he shrugged "You take emf, I'll look for the bags"
After a few minutes with no luck you and Sam headed back to the front room. Dean excused himself from Mr Stephens and the officer when he saw the two of you coming. "Excuse us"
"So?" Sam asked. "We got a thief jonesing for animal parts, a pagan symbol and a human pretzel" Dean said so you replied "Yeah it sounds all witchy but there's no hex bags or proof of anything we normally deal with every being here" So Dean shrugged "Well let's keep digging" then you noticed him look up at an owl that was on the wall before he added "Just not here" You looked at the owl then back at Dean "Did he insult you? Should I defend your honor here?" he smirked "I just don't like the way that thing's looking at me"
You were walking back to baby when Dean cut his eyes at you "Y/N, you good with one room or do we need two?" you shrugged "I'm fine with one" so he nodded "One it is"
------
Dean was going through his bag and you were coming out of the bathroom when Sam said "The symbol in the graffiti..It's not wiccan, It's copywritten" You walked over to where he was sitting on the foot of one of the beds and leaned over his shoulder to look at the screen then up at Dean "Local animal rights group, Enid's answer to PETA" Sam turned the screen around and Dean read over the screen "S.N.A.R.T? You got to be kidding me" "Well it makes sense that an animal right's group would have an axe to grind with a taxidermist" you offered pushing off Sam's shoulder to stand back up.
"Why? The animal's already dead" Dean asked and Sam responded "Yeah but hunters are what keeps them in business" Dean rolled his eyes and Sam added "Now the question is are those bleeding hearts actually witches or just hippies?" "What's the difference?" Dean asked and you laughed under your breath "We can shoot the witches?"
------
Gentle Earth Vegan Bakery was listed on S.N.A.R.T'S website so that was where you all headed. When you stepped in the door Dean looked around then said "Always knew I'd find the source of all evil at a vegan bakery" you tilted your head then said "Just wish I would've packed my leather jacket just to screw with them" and was rewarded with a wink from Dean and an eye roll from Sam.
Sam sniffed and his nose scrunched up "What's that smell?" "Patchouli" Dean answered and when you and Sam both looked his way he added "Mixed with depression from meat deprivation" you shook your head then noticed that the guy behind the counter was wearing sunglasses so you nudged Dean who followed your line of sight "Know who wears sunglasses inside?" You asked and he answered "Blind people and douchebags?" you shrugged "Point for the eldest Winchester. Sammy try to keep up"
You followed the boys to the counter then spoke "Olivia and Dylan Camrose?" the man and woman behind the counter looked your way "Yes ma'am?" "You two are members of S.N.A.R.T.? correct?" you asked and Olivia smiled "Founders and Co Presidents actually" then held up a pamphlet "Can we interest you in some literature?" Sam shook his head politely so Dylan offered a flax seed scone that was wheat, gluten and sugar free. "I'm gonna stop you right there" Dean interrupted "We're here to investigate the death of Max Alexander, local taxidermist" "He's dead?" Olivia choked out and appeared to be genuine. "You knew him?" you asked and she looked at Dylan before answering "Ish. Small town"
"Well he was murdered last night and a S.N.A.R.T. logo was found at the crime scene" you told her and wished she'd take those damn glasses off so you had a chance of catching a reaction of some sort. "You two wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?" Sam pushed looking between the two of them.
------
Olivia and Dylan were a bust. Turned out while they were tagging the taxidermy place the night before they got spooked by a hissing sound and ran into the alley where they ended up getting maced. You didn't miss the irony of it but remained quiet when they removed their sunglasses to show their faces.
With no other leads you headed back to the motel to change and dig a little deeper because the "mace" on Dylan and Olivia didn't look like any macing you nor Sam had ever seen.
-------
You sat across from Sam while he typed into his laptop and took the beer Dean offered you. "Necrosis" Sam announced so Dean asked "Necrosis?" "Premature death of tissue, that's why their eyes were all messed up and it's not caused by mace" "Then what caused it?" you asked while Dean leaned over Sam to look at the screen.
"Blunt force, radiation, venom" Dean read off. "As in snake?" you asked and Sam shrugged "Taxidermist was constricted. Olivia and Dylan heard hissing and they were sprayed in the eyes" "By venom" you finished and took a sip of the beer.
"So we talking some sort of freaky ass snake monster?" Dean guessed sitting next to you on the chair and you shook your head at him but refused to move. Sam looked between you two then shrugged "Maybe but the weird thing is, snakes either envenomate or constrict. No snake does both" "Correction, freaky ass mega snake monster. Awesome" you scoffed which made Sam chuckle and offer "Could be a vetala?" "Yeah but they're not afraid to sink their fangs in" Dean brushed off the suggestion and you agreed "Taxidermist was bite free. Doesn't fit the profile"
Sam sighed "So we call Kevin? get him to look some stuff up?" "Best option we have at the moment" Dean agreed.
-------
With nothing else to do for the day Dean went to grab some food so all of you could eat and attempt to get a little sleep. You were sitting at the table in the room and Sam cleared his throat so you glanced up "Yeah?" you could tell he was wanting to say something but also not risk you getting upset at whatever it was so you stared at him expectantly "Just say it Sam"
He scratched behind his ear as he stood up and walked over to sit across from you "Is there something going on between you and Dean?" you didn't have to act in that moment because you were honestly confused "Huh?" he shrugged "Lots of conversations just from looks being passed back and forth. Dean worried about you leaving the bunker. The couple times I've walked into a room and the two of you jump apart.." You shook your head "There's nothing like that going on Sam. Just when you got so sick after the trials I guess it just pushed me back fully into your lives and then after the two of you talked me into moving into the bunker we're close quarters and all" He didn't look too awfully convinced but nodded nonetheless "Ok, I mean I just wanted to say I wouldn't have an issue with it. You both deserve someone to make you happy and if that happens to be each other.." you held up a hand to cut him off "We're friends Sam. That's it" about that time the door opened and Dean walked in carrying bags of food and soda and looked over at you and Sam "You two good?" you nodded "If you got my cheeseburger we are" and Dean grinned and held the bag out "Got your one and my three"
--------
You ended up sleeping in the same bed as Sam with you under the blanket and him sleeping on top of it. When you woke up Dean was making coffee and looked over "Sleep good?" you glared at Sam's side of the bed since he was already in the shower "Fucker snores, next time you're scooting over"
He smirked at that "Anytime you want in my bed just say the word" you bit the inside of your cheek to stop the warmth from spreading through your face, caused by his words then climbed out of the bed "Can I have a cup?" Dean held out the one in his hand "Here, we take it the same and I'll just grab me another one" you took it with a smile and teased "Dean Winchester dances and gives his coffee to a damsel in distress" He laughed "Sweetheart you may be a damsel, there may be times you are in distress but I haven't seen a lot you can't handle"
------
By the time you made it out the shower Dean was knocking on the door to tell you to go with the fed suit instead of usual jeans and t-shirt. There was another body on the ground at the animal shelter.
The body was of the guy who worked the front counter at the shelter. He had claw marks down the side of his face and according to the cops all the cats that had been registered at the shelter were now missing. "So yesterday snake monster, today killer kitty?" Dean scoffed and you cut your eyes at Sam who said "I don't know" Dean stopped both of you and pointed at a pen "Doesn't that mutt look familiar?" "He's from the first crime scene isn't he?" you asked and Sam doubled checked the clipboard on the pen and nodded.
"So he's been at both crime scenes, suspect?" you asked looking at Dean who agreed with you by saying "Could be a skinwalker or a shapeshifter" "Doesn't really look like a monster to me" Sam was looking at the dog but Dean had already dug a silver coin out of his pocket "One way to find out" Dean squatted and called the dog to the gate. He rubbed the coin behind the dog's ears but there was no reaction. "Well at least the pooch isn't the killer?" you said about the time the officer from the first crime scene walked up and the taxidermist's dog started barking until the officer took his hat off. He spoke to Sam but Dean noticed what you did especially when the dog once again started barking when the officer put his hat back on.
"Can we borrow your hat?" you asked and he handed it over. You held it right over Dean's head and the dog started barking until you pulled the hat down. You cut your eyes at Dean then handed the hat back. The officer snarled "Good luck getting adopted" at the dog and you had the strongest urge to punch the damn cop.
Sam read the clipboard again "So Colonel's not a suspect" "He's a witness" Dean confirmed. You squatted down and scratched Colonel's head "You speak sign language buddy?" he whined at you and tilted his head so you could scratch further. Sam perked up "No but there may be another option" and pulled his phone out. You curiously looked at Dean who shrugged until Sam said "Hey Kevin, it's me.. how do we speak to a dog?"
The shelter let you take Colonel with you so you sat in the backseat of baby with him laid across your lap back to the motel.
------
Kevin called back with the spell about the same time you made it back to the motel so Sam was currently combining the ingredients? while Dean sat across the table and you sat on the floor next to the table with Colonel. "So it's an Inuit spell?" you asked. Sam looked up from the bowl "Yeah, who knew the men of letters had its own eskimo section?"
"And it's supposed to let us communicate with the Colonel?" Dean asked looking at the dog who had his head laying in your lap where you were sitting leaned against Dean's chair. "Yeah..well that's the plan" Sam plucked a few hair from the Colonel then explained that it was a sort of animal/human mind meld which meant if it worked whoever drank it would be able to read the Colonel's thoughts.
You watched Sam pour the foul looking concoction and was glad when Dean grabbed it "I'll do it" he looked into the cup and at the face you were making "Doesn't look so bad" he downed it in a gulp and his entire face twisted for a moment "I was wrong"
Dean read off the spell but the Colonel barely moved. Dean tried to talk to him but to no avail so it was decided to get some lunch then call Kevin for more ideas.
------
You were sitting on the foot of one of the beds when Dean looked at the Colonel "What?" "What?" you and Sam echoed. "Shut up! It's working" Dean clarified then looked back at the Colonel "Say that again" after a moment Dean said "Dennis DeYoung's not a punk" you were more than a little lost but amused that the dog was apparently arguing with Dean. "Dean! Focus!"
"Oh yeah" he looked back at the Colonel "Hey boy, what were you trying to tell us about the coyboy hat?" you and Sam sat watching the scene unfold which even though the two of you could only hear one side it was clear there was a full conversation happening. "and the pothead too?" Dean asked and Sam glanced at you then turned his attention back to them. Sam threw a balled up napkin in the trash and told Dean to ask about the cats. Dean threw the paper back to Sam then asked about the cats. "I don't want this" Sam told him then chunked the napkin again.
You laughed when you realized that the mind meld was more than talking when Dean once again retrieved the napkin and said that the guy who was doing the killings smelled like ground chuck, soap suds and old lady cream. Sam finally held up the napkin "Dean, what are you doing?" Dean scratched his head in the same spot the Colonel had kept urging you to scratch on his "I don't know"
When Dean started beating on the window yelling at the mailman you fell over on the bed laughing "Dean's a dog dude!"
------
While Sam called Kevin to check side effects on the spell you sat between Dean and the Colonel. You weren't really paying attention to either until the Colonel bumped your knee so you absentmindedly scratched his head. It made you freeze when Dean let out a light whimper and you looked to see he was looking at your other hand "Are you serious?" he looked at the colonel "He's being smug that you're scratching his head" The colonel looked up at you and if you'd ever seen a dog laugh it was in that moment so you scooted over so you scratch Dean's head too. He let out a contented sigh and laid his head over on your thigh.
Sam hung up and arched an eyebrow at your current position so you stopped scratching both of them despite the whimpers so he could explain the spell's side effects which was what Dean was experiencing.
A few words were passed between Dean and the Colonel and you had to laugh again when Dean announced "I don't have the urge to sniff butts" "Dean?" you asked and he seemed offended "No! Sam how long will this last?" "Kevin doesn't know" he replied and you ran a hand across your face, as if your life could get weirder.
Dean pulled a candy bar out of his jacket pocket and you grabbed it out of his hand "Woah! What the hell Y/N?" you motioned to the Colonel "Dogs can't have chocolate Dean. Do you really want to test it?" the Colonel looked at you and let out a sharp bark so you looked back at Dean "What'd he say?" Dean glared at the dog then answered "He said you're cute for a human and smart" "Aww, thank you" you cooed rubbing the Colonel's back and could've sworn Dean let out a light growl of all things? Sam looked between the three of you then said "Let's head back to the shelter to see if we can find more clues because I swear Dean's getting jealous over a dog" "Am not" Dean argued but cut his eyes at the Colonel as he spoke.
------
After you and Sam having to de escalate an argument between Dean and a pigeon you were in tears from laughing as you climbed in the backseat with the Colonel and it only got worse when they both wanted to hang their head out of the windows.
------
When you got the shelter Dean argued with the Colonel for a second before saying "Y/N, he wants you to hold his leash" you winked at the Colonel then grabbed his leash as you climbed out and held the door open for him "C'mon big guy" he climbed out behind you and looked up at Dean who glared at the dog. "Quit being smug you asshole"
Watching Dean interrogate dogs was somewhere between just weird and the absolute best entertainment you'd had in years. A yorkie turned out to be a star witness and wanted a belly rub from Sam in return for information. You stood there watching Sam scratch the yorkie while chewing your bottom lip to not laugh. Apparently the whatever you were after had a sweet tooth for cats according to the yorkie.
The burlap sack the guy had taken the cats from the shelter in had "Avant-Garde Cuisine" written on it so that was finally a solid lead along with a vague description of the guy.
When you were about to leave Dean said "Hold up" and passed you the Colonel's leash then went back and opened all the cages. You shook your head with a laugh when he said "Ok, now let's go"
------
You were once again herded between Sam and Dean as the three of you walked into the restaurant after Sam picked the lock. In the first office you found a photo of "Chef Leo" who wore a cowboy hat like the yorkie had described along with a frickin pharmacy worth of pain meds.
You were going through a drawer when Dean said "Did you hear that?" you glanced at Sam the shook your head "No?" "Sounded like little kids" Dean explained so you stood up straight and strained your ears to no avail.
It turned out to be a cage of rats who lead Dean to the fridge that contained everything from cheetah liver to grizzly heart while Sam found a shamanism spell book. According to the book whatever animal organ you ingested along with the right mix of hoodoo and spices resulted in the temporary gain of the power of that said animal.
Meaning owl brains for IQ, Cheetah liver for speed..etc
A clanging drew all of your attention so Sam killed the only light in the room and you all pulled your guns and flashlights then headed out into the hall.
-------
The hall was empty so you moved into the kitchen clearing each corner carefully. There was a lone cook so when he asked who you were Dean said you were all from the health department for a surprise inspection.
He told you all that the reason the restaurant was closed was due to the chef having a private party and would be there any minute. "In that case you're shut down" you ordered and glanced at Sam who added "You're clearly in violation of penal code eight fourteen" "You heard em! Out Now" Dean barked out and they quickly moved to comply.
Dean took the front, you took the halls and Sam took the back to try to find the chef. Working plan was to simply empty a clip into his head and hope for the best.
------
After a fight with the good chef Leo resulting in Sam getting knocked out, you getting slashed on the arm and Dean calling in an entire pack of dogs as assistance the good chef got exactly what he had coming.
When Dean ran back into the kitchen you were crouched over Sam trying to wake him up. "C'mon Sam!" "Y/N!" Dean hollered so you shouted "OVER HERE" he slid to a stop at your side and crouched next to you "He's alive Dean" he let of a breath of relief when Sam finally stirred. "Thank god" Dean helped Sam to his feet then looked at your arm "Do you need stitches?" you shook your head "I don't think so"
The three of you made it outside in enough time to see some bloody dogs running away from the heap that had been chef Leo.
------
After getting the Colonel adopted out to Olivia and Dylan you hit the road back to the bunker. The only unfortunate thing was chef Leo had put some doubt in Sam's head by asking what Sam was. From what you and Dean could piece together Leo had slit Sam's throat and Zeke healed him. Wasn't like the two of you could tell him that so instead you convinced him that Leo was simply out of his head.
When Dean pulled out onto the road he shot you a look in the mirror and you met his gaze fully. "It'll be ok" you mouthed and he smiled then turned his eyes to the road.

My Son's Story (pt. 1)
DISCLAIMER: I Know it's a bit of a long read, but it's important. Please read. I promise it isn't boring. Thank you!
Hi Everyone,
Intro
This is my first real attempt at Tumblr. Please contact me if anything I post violates a rule or is not considered appropriate. Anything I post, I truly mean no harm nor offense to anyone. But I need to write daily again to regain my gift and share it with the world. I have been working on my version of the "great American novel" for years. As a child, I was well on my way to becoming a successful author, but people had other ideas for my career path - and to put it bluntly - my contribution to society. Writer's block set in and then what was second nature to me - creative writing, became a lost skill. Or maybe a distant memory. Writers know that half the struggle as an artist is the dilemma of our own aspiration towards perfection. But nothing is perfect. It is a social construct and the antithesis of true beauty.
The Ultimate Birthday Gift
So, that said, let's talk about my son. He's three - he's actually turning four in December. He was born on my birthday and has been the greatest gift that I have ever received. I won't pretend that he is perfect or even generally compliant with my directions. But he's loving. He's empathetic. He's brilliant. He's beautiful. And most of all, he is the sweetest person I have ever met.
I am going to go slightly off-topic for a bit; just to paint the full picture. I don't want to ramble and I am definitely a believer that a short and to the point message is almost always far superior to a long and complicated message. But bear with me because this snippet of the backstory is essential. And my son's story is important.
Appalachia
We live in Pittsburgh, part of the Appalachian Mountain Range. There is no other way to say it than the unadulterated, ugly truth of it - Pittsburgh is racist. Very racist. Beyond that, there is a general lack of common courtesy to outsiders, customers of businesses, other patrons in stores, etc. And the rudeness, is actually pretty much unrelated to the racism. It sounds strange and surely, minorities who are on the receiving end of it would certainly assume that racism was the reason why they said "excuse me," "thank you," etc. and about half the time are ignored like they're a ghost. But don't get it twisted - there are many times the aforementioned behaviors by many Pittsburghers IS induced by racism AND a lack of common courtesy and manners. You see, their deep-seated tribalism is indoctrinated into many Pittsburghers so completely from a young age that they know no different. It would be difficult for them to understand this article and I'd bet anyone ten bucks that if enough PIttsburghers read this post - they will attack my analysis of Pittsburghese culture as though the post itself is a blitz on the entire city.
Brown or White?
I am latin and there aren't many latins in Pittsburgh. But when we moved to Pittsburgh when I was in seventh grade, people knew my last name. Summer had just passed and I do get brown. I can get brown very quickly in the right type of sun and I get brown eventually in the sun that exists in cloudy and northern Pittsburgh. In seventh grade, some boys decided it would be funny to call me "estupido," and up until two years ago, I avoided sun exposure that would reveal my "brownness" like the plague.
Subversive, Subconscious, and Secret Racism
So, not long after I started that strategy, I was treated as white. (Side note: latins can be any race; but it seems that societal constructs are seeking to change this long accepted designation and categorize latins as some in between, brown race and not an ethnicity. To be honest, I am ok with that and now proud to be latin.)
The reality of being treated white in Pittsburgh for many years was that I learned what white people actually said when they were only with other whites. The most common thing that was said was one white person mumbling to other white people that someone was a "dumb n******" or a "dumb monkey." I've heard white adults refer to children who were black as "n***lets." But it was always this crocodile smiling through their teeth behavior. They'd never dare say it to a black person. Instead, they'd just indirectly discriminate against them.
I do have to mention that by no means do all Pittsburghers behave this way. It's just too many of them. I don't know the percentage, but if I had to guess I'd say - 50% plus.
Yes, Racism Happens All The Time Even if You Don't See it Happen
Many white people will tell you that racism is gone because they don't ever observe it and Obama was president - a black president. Therefore, everything is now over. I can admit that I have experienced my share of discrimination when my skin darkens. But I had no clue how bad it was for black people out here until my son became the recipient of the ugliness of it all. To me, racists are by definition ignorant cowards; so it makes sense they'd pick on a small boy whose only family is his mother.
Evil Always Starts Slowly
If one reviews history, every evil dictator or regime began slowly chipping away human rights. By the time the citizens realized the dire state of their country, it was too late. Their freedoms were already taken away and mechanisms to fight back had also been methodically erased.
When my son was born - a boy who is half African (his father (if you want to call him that since he is basically not involved) is from Ghana); no issues arose for the first two and a half years. But then the indirect discrimination started. The same rules that applied for white children didn't apply to him. I could give so many examples. But let's just say, as a rambunctious boy, if my son mimicked a white boy's same rambunctious behavior, we were confronted and the white family was not confronted.
One day I made an appointment for my son's hair to get cut at Philip Pelusi. They made the appointment knowing that he was only two and a half. The receptionist let me know that the stylist was a "Grade A Stylist," so I would have to pay more. I was fine with paying more; cool. After the appointment was made, I mentioned to the receptionist that my son was mixed race. We ended the call and I began to get my son ready to leave. Within ten minutes, the salon called back and informed me that they didn't/wouldn't cut my son's "type of hair." I promptly returned the call and explained his hair was curly, that's all. They blatantly lied and told me that the stylist doesn't cut ANY curly hair. Right. So, if a white lady came in with curly hair she would be turned away? I doubt it. Either way, the stylist is "Grade A." She is also licensed to cut hair by the state. Shouldn't a requirement for state licensing require one to know how to cut all "types of hair"?; I saved the recording, by the way, and still have it.
As months progressed, little by little wherever my son and I went in "white areas," we felt hostile vibes. Other incidents occurred that couldn't be proven as racial discrimination, but I knew. Whites behaved as though my son didn't deserve to be around them.
Southern Hospitality
We traveled down south a few times in the past year. Yes, some of the south is very racist still to this day. But not where we drove. Suddenly people responded when we said "excuse me," "thank you," etc. No white families prevented my son from playing with their children. No one told me my son was a nuisance or put out that vibe.
The Lesser of Two Evils?
But we had to come back each time because we live here and I've been working my way out of the projects that I have lived in for four years. Shootings. Open drug use and sales. The smell of crack in the hallways. Infestations in other apartments that come our way no matter what we try. People peeing on the hallway floors. Yes, seriously. Young children being encouraged to bully and beat up other kids. Children stealing or attempting to steal my son's toys because their mothers buy them none. Gamgmembers as young as twelve.
So, I concluded: "yes, we will move, but until then, we only sleep in our apartment and we do not play at the projects' playground." I figured IF I saved a certain number of money since I have a car that I saved for and bought last year, we would make it in our new, chosen city (Tampa or Jacksonville).
But then the racism against my son in the "white playgrounds" became worse. One day he was playing with a five year old boy at an indoor playground. The mother had no issue with it. The father of the boy arrived half an hour in, promptly scooped the boy away from my son, and told his son that he had told him he was not to "play with n*****s." My son couldn't understand why he could no longer play with his new friend and kept calling to him, "friends again!" while sobbing because he thought he had upset the boy. I had to leave with my son because of it.
Another time, a ten-year-old boy taunted my son on an outdoor playground and called him a "dumb monkey." My son first attempted to yell, "I NOT DUMB MONKEY," a few times; but the boy persisted and even smirked in my direction. My son ran to me and asked me to make the boy stop. No parent in sight and again, I just had to leave with my son.
Enough is Enough
Finally, last month or so, my son and I were at our usual laundromat doing laundry. We had finished. My son skipped a few steps in front of me and tried to open the glass door but couldn't push the bar to open it because of his height. He placed (yes, placed..lightly) his foot on the door to try to give it a bit more of a nudge. I was a few seconds behind him so just pushed the door open and we went to our car to load our clean laundry into it. In retrospect, I saw an older white male go next door to the beer store right after we walked out of the laundromar. The beer store employee approached us as I loaded my laundry into my car and then intended to leave.
The beer store employee told me he was getting "reports that kids were kicking glass." He said kids. Plural. And what he said made me envision a bunch of grade school kids kicking around broken glass on the sidewalk or parking lot. I responded calmly that "I have one kid and he's been with me the whole time. He wasn't involved." The beer store employee wanted drama to transpire. It was obvious. He said in a threatening manner: "Just so you know, I have cameras." My son and I exchanged glances because we were confused. What kids? Kids were kicking glass. Where? What glass?
Again though, I calmly responded that my son wasn't involved and he should check his cameras. He told me he was calling the cops. So I got my three-year-old son in his car seat and set a time limit of ten minutes to wait. We weren't running when he didn't do anything. The cops of course showed up about a minute later. It's ridiculous because in our projects (different police department than the laundromat police department), there have been shootings where children were outside playing when several clips were emptied into crowds and the police station is a block away. I know people called and it took an hour for them to arrive on scene.
Long story short, the laundromat cops knew it was a bullshit call. The supposed "kicking glass" was because my son placed his foot on the door to try to open it when we were LEAVING. The police eventually informed us that was the alleged "kicking of glass." There was no kicking that happened. The door wasn't even dirtier, let alone damaged because my son tried to use his foot to open the door. Lightly, by the way.
Even though the police were kind to my son, for the next week, my usual gregarious child was terrified to go anywhere. He eventually told me it was because "the cops will chase me and take me to jail because I bad guy now."
He's over it now. Mostly.
But we still have to pick between the craziness of playing at our aforementioned projects or going to a "white playground" and risking my son being rejected. It's usually a 50/50 shot that he will be rejected. If he gets rejected, he gets very upset.
Again, these are problems we never faced on our travels down the southern eastern seaboard. We didn't get treated like this at the destinations or on the journey by car to and from the destinations.
I knew we were living in an extremely racist and rude area, but one day I found this. It's a map delineating the results of a study conducted by Google and others regarding the level of racism in different parts of the country.
I already knew this much. But it's good to know I'm right that we are in the worst part of the U.S. for racism and the kindness we received traveling to those certain southern states was no illusion. And I did ask locals before I found this map if I was right that people are kinder to all colors in whichever given area.
Not the Worst Thing That Happened But the Last Straw
People talk a lot about Karens these days. This lady looked like she jumped right out of a Karen meme. My son was two feet away from her while we waited in line and she said as obnoxiously as possible: "Can you handle this? Please get him out of MY space." Yeah, I didn't let it go. At all. Her argument was that she said "please" so it's OK to make my son feel like a "this" and not a little boy. I held him while he sobbed. Long story short, I decided right then anywhere has to be better than this.
It isn't me just knowing people are being nasty to my son and I'm upset. He understands. He had an evaluation for something and he tested very well. He cried about each of these incidents. He just wants to make people smile and make friends.
So, next month we are going for it. I'm no where close to the aforementioned goal. I have some savings. We may end up in shelters at first after savings dry up in a few weeks. But we cannot survive up here. Nor can we advance here.
Side Note
I wrote this mostly to inform others of the status quo and reality of racism and the real effects it has on one tiny boy. And I know it will just get worse if we stay since it's this bad already.
But if you anyone knows of any resources to help us get on our feet in a month in Tampa or Jacksonville (Tampa is my first choice, but either one.) I have applied for housing, even though I didn't and don't want to go back to projects; but I'd take one down there over watching my son endure so much pain any day of the week.
Ok, so final part: I'm going to say upfront I feel extremely awkward with this paragraph because this isn't my way (years before my son was born I was homeless for a stint and never sat with a sign or a cup. Just couldn't do it), but for my son, I'm going to drop my cashtag here. Everyone is struggling and I know there are people with much worse problems. I appreciate anyone who has read this far and can help spread the reality of what I wrote about. That's the reason for the article; but if help is received at all because of it, we would be grateful but it's definitely a far second most important reason for the post. Here it goes, for my baby, in case it'll change his life and give us that better foot up, here it is: $RobyndeHood
