Shipping has nothing to do with canonical interactions.

If you are limiting ships to “do these characters interact a lot” then fella, I gotta say, you are invalidating so many ships and limiting your imagination to embarrassing extents.

It’s fine if you don’t like a ship. It’s fine if you don’t get a ship. Clearly a ship you aren’t interest in isn’t for you.

But no ship is invalid just because there isn’t much or any interaction between the characters.

And that’s the thing I kinda don’t like about buggy ships tbh. I don’t think I like them just because most of them are…. Extremely mean to Buggy? I never had favourite character like this. That’s why I kinda want just one person who would really liked my blorbo? Like does Buggy even has one genuine relationship rn? I was naive because I did thought of his crew as a little more genuine, and after marine ford my stupid brain did thought at least mr3 is not gonna left him the minute buggy out of picture. And Oda destroyed my hopes every single time. He’s not that unlikable in canon :(

yeah, you know, that's fair! some people like for their fave to suffer, and some want to protect them from the cruelty of the world. i'm somewhere in between, myself; i can enjoy a bit of buggy schadenfreude, but only if i feel like he really earned it, reaping what he sowed and all that.

…and tbh, i think this lack of genuine relationships is another reaping/sowing situation.

like, buggy had genuine connections in his youth and they all abandoned him (save one, but let's not get distracted by shuggy rn). is it any wonder he was disillusioned, and sought out bonds based on self-interest and false images of his own greatness?

when buggy was a moderately-sized fish in a small pond, he must have felt just as sure as you, anon, that he'd found the best possible crew this way. who needs sincerity or personal loyalty?! all you need is a badass facade and a common goal!

the downside to such superficial bonds only makes itself known when the illusion breaks down, or when it's no longer in someone's self-interest to support buggy.

i think it would be tedious to binge but is nice as an one episode per week deal. especially if you're like me & remember the general plot but not the fine details, it's not bad, though not particularly good either

@dragonpyre So I accidentally closed out on my previous post and I'm way to tired to rewrite it from memory so I'll just sparknotes it.

I think you'd enjoy that one stupid volcano that's like a pimple in Russia (I forgot the name, I was practically comatose when I watched the documentary). That volcano genuinely pisses me off because it's not, and never was, connect(ed) to Earth's magma but has a history of explosions. The volcano isn't anywhere near the Ring of Fire and is extremely inland, and is just in a really odd place.

I forgot what else I wrote (sleep deprivation for the win!) but I do remember putting these photos in.

Then I talked about how I didn't realize my flight was going by Mt. Saint Helen's and that I grew up watching the NatGeo VHS of it. I didn't even recognize the volcano from the actual volcano, I recognized the flow path first because I thought 'wow that looks a lot like Mt. Saint Helen's path flow' then I was like. 'Well I am in Washington right now.' Which quickly became; 'No way, that's Mt. Saint Helens flow path!!! That's Mt. SaiNT HELENS!!!!!!!!' And I would have legitimately screamed if I wasn't on a public flight but my seat mate did look at me weirdly for practically gluing myself to the window for like half an hour and taking photos like a mad person.

That was taken after I realized what I was seeing so I hope it's understandable that I recognized the flow path first instead of the white cap lolol

There really is something humbling about seeing the damage still so easily visible even decades later.

reminder to worldbuilders: don't get caught up in things that aren't important to the story you're writing, like plot and characters! instead, try to focus on what readers actually care about: detailed plate tectonics

being home I'm really realizing wow the nature outside is so much more beautiful than I could ever experience back in the city. the interior of this house though. atrocious. nobody likes this
