Unpopular opinion (even to me)
the last scene in I Care A Lot was actually good because it gives Eiza GonzĂĄlez the chance to flex that acting range and she fucking DOES

there is just something about the difference between edwin's love interests and having the cat king's reaction to edwin in hell being "i'll be waiting when he gets back" vs charles "no version of this where i don't come get you" rowland convincing a powerful trans-dimensional being to open a door to hell just so he could get him back
i am insane
#like YES i know there is obviously so much more history between the boys than edwin and the cat king#and for everyone who's like âwell how would the cat king have gotten to hellâ#yall charles got LUCKY that the night nurse was there to open a door for him#you can bet your ass that if she hadn't been there he still would've figured out how to get there no matter what it took#but the cat king calling himself a romantic because he'll wait vs charles GOING TO HELL TO GET HIM BACK????#absolutely insane#i cannot handle these two#like i can vibe with the cat king#but charles x edwin for the WIN#obviously the circumstances between the characters are a lot different#but to me that changes absolutely nothing about the fact that charles who only thinks of edwin as a friend would do literally anything#vs the cat king who claims to have fallen for edwin doing literally nothing and just sulking about it#i don't even care if you dont ship charles and edwin#the love they have for each other will forever outweigh anything else#(ps if you ship catwin you simply do not need to interact with this post. you will not change my mind)#(you do not have to interact with posts you don't agree with)#dead boy detectives#dead boy detective agency#charles rowland#edwin payne#the cat king#painland#payneland#dbd netflix

atp i genuinely doooonât care if the old guard two is the worst thing put to film i just want to see the best character of all time (andromache the scythian) and her loser henchmen and everyoneâs favorite girl nile freeman again
#its not even funny anymore WHERE IS ANDY AND NORIKO!!!!!!!!!!! it was supposed to be the year of dyke drama đđđđđđ#like given the way they structured the first movie the second would have to be almost wholly original and differ a lot from the comic#like andy cant go thru the shit noriko puts her thru so im guessing the script would switch her out with nile getting tossed in the ocean#but that doesnt really work with norikos comic characterization (trying to get andy to see her point by making her go thru what noriko did#isnt something quynh will gaf about if andy isnt one of the immortals. andys become thr âverminâ noriko hates!!!)#and given the end of the movie everyones chill with copley so joe and nickys whole subplot cant exist anymoreâŠ. idk maybe theyll switch out#copley with moose?? idc as long as we get their stupid car conversation tbh makes me laugh#honestly given the changes that would have to be made they probably just made a stupid movie and donât want to release it. but I DONT CAREEE#its not exactly like the first one was that good i still mute it in preparation for every cringe needle drop like its a lame movie but its#genuineeeeee fun like i seriously do not care netflix give me my movie!!!#the old guard

Toby specifically stalks this elderly lesbian couple because one of them started spouting off nonsense about demons and slendy wants them to stop poking their noses in the paranormal.
Toby decides to purposefully make it obvious theyâre being stalked by a real person instead of haunted, but he just further convinces both of them that they have a demon in their home. Nothing he does works and he doesnât really wanna kill them. Starts sending them emails saying giving the demons attention gives them more power.
The ladies give ignoring the âdemonâ a shot, so he stops purposefully breaking into their house and moving stuff around and scaring them. Now they truly believing ignoring a demon is how to stop a haunting. They no longer stick their nose in the paranormal. This is a successful Toby mission. And he stole a lot of money and jewelry in the process. Extra Toby points
#no joke this is how a lot of missions in my au kinda play out LMFAOOOOOOOO#the proxies (besides Kate and sometimes Toby) genuinely rather not kill people if unnecessary#Kate just doesnât really understand why it matters and thinks âif I havenât been caught yet Iâm never getting caught who cares itâs easierâ#alongside them accidentally getting involved with other criminals and Netflix drama style situations play out#do yâall know the show good girls#where the moms rob a store to help their family but they actually rob a drug business so now the drug business people invade their life#so now theyâre coming up with crazy schemes to not get sent to prison or killed by the people#LMAOOOOO#thatâs the shit that happens to my proxies#chatterbox#creeped

Arcane Season 2 - The Base Violence Necessary for Change
I think this shot is the most interesting part of the trailer. We see a shot of Jinx as a painting on a wall. A symbol. A leader. Her actions stand for revolution in Zaun and I think this could be an interesting expansion of Arcaneâs exploration of violence and the idea that there is a base violence necessary for change.
Silco is framed as an antagonist in season 1 because of his actions against the undercity people specifically.
In act 3 heâs not the revolutionary he positioned himself as and is instead hurting the people of Zaun through his leadership. Heâs doing as much to hurt topside as Vander was in act 1 (meaning nothing at all). Heâs even got the sheriff working with him just like Vander, but, unlike Vander, Silco is hurting his own people to facilitate power and heâs not even fighting for that freedom he claimed to want so much.
We see the damage his actions have wrought. We see the shimmer addicts, forgotten and exploited. We see that he's created a hierarchy rather than a community.
And itâs contrasted with the firelights. People considered terrorists to Piltover, who do use violence to fight back against Silco and topside, and yet offer the biggest glimmer of hope. They arenât villainized. The act of fighting back isnât villainized and it shouldnât be.
Because itâs not the violence in and of itself thatâs the issue. Itâs what that violence is used for.
The series hammers this idea home through Vander.Â
Vanderâs staunch stance against violence is flawed as well. It comes from a good place. A desire to protect what he loves rather than destroy what he hates and it did create a time free of the death revolution brings, but itâs made it so no ground could be made to free Zaun and create a better world for the people in it. It created stagnation.Â
The people of the undercity are still stuck in a cycle of crushing poverty, growing up without parents, dying young due to pollution or violence wrought by desperate people or oppressive enforcers.
It didnât move the needle because Piltover and the system in place wasnât going to change just because the people of the undercity were playing nice.
The unrest and anger felt towards Vander for his ideal was understandable. His views on the cyclical nature of violence and the fact that if you fight you will lose people (âWhat are you willing to loseâ) is correct, but that doesnât make this option the ideal one.
Which brings me back to that shot in the trailer of that painting of Jinx.
Season 2 looks like itâs going to be a season of opposites and rediscovery where it flips what we expect of Jinx and Vi on its head and further explores these ideas of violence, oppression, and revolution.
And I think this season might possibly do that by reversing how Vi and Jinx reflect Vander and Silco.
In the first season the siblings were direct reflections of their respective father figures, but now theyâre inversions. Jinx can become the good to be found in Silcoâs ideals and Vi the pitfalls of Vanderâs.
Jinxâs actions in season 1 werenât those of a revolutionary. Her actions werenât meant to free the people of the undercity or improve their lives. She didnât steal the hexcrystal to bring hextech to the undercity and improve their lives and she didnât kill the enforcers on the bridge to get rid of dirty cops. She didnât kidnap Caitlyn for a greater cause.
But we know that Jinx isnât only the violence she enacted. That she is âthe monster they (the system and people around her) createdâ. Her actions werenât heroic in the first season, but they were driven by the life that was forced upon her. Her hurt and anger are justified.
Now that sheâs away from Silco, no longer a part of his machine and actively participating in his actions that were hurting the undercity, her actions and anger can take on a new light. She can rediscover herself away from his manipulations (this isnât to say he didnât love her but what he did and said isolated her and allowed her issues to fester) and become that symbol we see on the wall.
Jinx could be in a way what Silco could have been if he didnât let his own self interest get in the way of his ideals. Not quite as forward thinking as Ekko or as idealistic, but still a symbol for resistance that fights for Zaun.
Whereas Vi is sort of on a path to becoming a darker reflection of Vanderâs ideals.
Vi becomes a part of the system she used to rage against.
Based on the season 2 teaser that was released in 2021âÂ
âNobody else needs to get hurt.â
âI think itâs likely that Vi believes she can prevent more death or can stop Piltoverâs violence against the undercity if she takes Jinx in.
Vi sees herself as a protector who has failed at every turn to protect those she cares about. She lost her parents, Powder, Vander, Mylo, Claggor, etc. and she is constantly desperate to try and save what she loves and that will likely drive her decision to become an enforcer.
Vi, like Vander, wants to save what she loves and as a result isnât going to fight back against topside. This is a much more extreme version of Vanderâs ideals. Where she âcompromisesâ in an attempt to prevent bloodshed but as a result enables (or in her case helps) the system in place.
This decision will have negative consequences (and deservedly so!) because no matter what thoughts or feelings are the driving factor in it she is still siding with her oppressors and ultimately helping the system that is the root cause of that loss and pain in the first place.Â
Based on the clip released at Annecy and what people have said the writers explained about Viâs arc in season 2 it seems like Vi will be ostracized for this decision and deservedly so. She wonât belong anywhere. To the undercity sheâs a traitor and to Piltover sheâs nothing more than an undercity rat.
She will have lost everything. She will have no one to protect. And who is Vi if sheâs not a protector?
Vi will be forced to re-evaluate who she is and what she wants. Just like Jinx, Vi will have to redefine herself when she loses everything.
I canât wait for season 2 and what the team at Fortiche has in store for us. The way the show tackles complex themes and ideas is incredible and Vi and Jinx are some of the most compelling and complicated characters Iâve seen on tv. Iâm looking forward to November.
#arcane#netflix#arcane vi#arcane jinx#arcane vander#arcane silco#In many ways Vi has idealized Zaun under Vander's leadership#because she was frozen in time when she was thrown into prison#after just losing him#and I think she never really got to process everything#which is why the breakdown#of everything she believes she is#is necessary for her arc#She needs to live in the world that has#moved on and changed#without her old ties#(and without caitlyn)#and discover what it is she wants and believes in#Vi cares#she cares a lot but she's a broken person#who never got the chance to heal#and she makes desperate impulsive decisions#as a result#she does want to make a better future for Zaun#But she doesn't know what that is#JInx on the flipside will have the chance to#rediscover the best of herself in some ways#Parts of Powder are still in there#by that I mean she still cares#She isn't a killing machine

Imagining if the show had more time or inclination to care about it how Jaskier would absolutely defend Yennefer from Geralt's sword and wrath after the reunited in Cintra in 2x07.
I mean picture it: Geralt is PISSED and has his sword to Yennefer's neck and Jaskier sees this. Knowing that Geralt will absolutely regret it later if he hurts Yennefer, and considering she saved him in Oxenfurt, he sees the big, long stick Yenn has dropped and picks it up. Then he uses the stick to push Geralt's sword away, getting in between the two of them.
At this point everyone would be so confused, especially Geralt. Geralt would yell at Jaskier to get out of the way, and Jaskier would tell him to calm down before he makes any new rash decisions. Arguments would get heated until Jaskier screams at him that this is HIS wife and he will defend her since she saved his life.
COMPLETE SILENCE while Geralt tries to process what the frack Jaskier just said.
Yennefer tries to apologize, but Geralt has regained half his brain and orders Jaskier and Yarpen to take Ciri to Kehr Moren, to which Jaskier totally flips out again. "People that show barely any regard for me don't get to order me around!" To which Geralt would be absolutely perplexed about again.
Jaskier only finally agrees to go with Ciri and Yarpen because Yennefer convinces him to. Jaskier makes Geralt promise he won't kill Yennefer or he's not going to leave them alone.
Instead of being standoffish, Ciri would have sooooooo many questions on the journey and Jaskier might even notice when Ciri gets possessed. Which would've been much more helpful when they got to the keep.
Then maybe after all the drama is resolved, Geralt and Jaskier could have a real heart to heart and Geralt could sincerely apologize about the mountain instead a halfhearted sorry from top of a horse.
But maybe after all these years, I'm still just super salty about the show's totally disregard for Jaskier and decisions to make him the butt of all jokes.
#jaskier#yennefer#yennskier#the witcher netflix#random season 2 rant#because it still bothers me and I'm on another rewatch#like it would be great if Geralt tried to care even a little about Jaskier#instead of just using him#Like he uses him a lot#and they never have a real meaningful conversation#give Jaskier a real apology you coward#I could watch a show that was just Jaskier and Yennefer doing mundane things all day#like playing checkers and pretending to be spouses#or cooking#with wine obviously#I just think the show could've done better if they thought through this a little more#but I'm biased#this has been a season 2 what if?#I hope you enjoyed it

me when i meet someone for the first time and i want to say:
âhave you ever watched the umbrella academy? itâs a great show, you really should. itâs about a dysfunctional family of childhood superheroes who underwent serious trauma from their emotionally absent father and grow up to be insanely dynamic and interesting individuals who have to save the world but just keep failing over and over. my favorite character is five, a 58 year-old man in the body of his 13 year-old self who can teleport and time travel but got it wrong the first time and had to survive for over 40 years as the last living human in an apocalyptic wasteland before being recruited by an organization that exists outside of time that keeps the space-time continuum in harmony with itself to become the most lethal assassin known to man for not only his learned talents but also his superhuman abilities. he cares about his family more than anything and sacrificed just about everything heâs ever had to save them time and time again to go under-appreciated by everyone around him. he has a witty charm to him, but just about zero social skills due to several decades which he spent alone but is so extremely smart that at times itâs even difficult to conceptualize just what spending time inside his brain would entail. i find his character so complex and interesting that iâm sure if motivated, i could write several essays on each of his arcs, virtues, and traits. the show is also very loved, especially by myself, due to its beautifully selected soundtrack with some of my favorite songs and such beautiful vocals from artists all throughout time including some of the cast members from the show itself. i especially love âstormy weatherâ covered and recorded by emmy raver-lampman, featured in season one episode eight, as her character, allison hargreeves, drives through a rainstorm to help save her sister while she thinks about how her entire life has been a lie due to the curse that her abilities inevitably cast upon her. the song gives me chills every time i hear it, from its beautiful vintage-string sound to emmyâs phenomenal vocals, itâs truly an underrated classic that i believe should be talked about so much more. i also love âstay with meâ, covered and recorded by mary j. blige, also featured in season one episode eight, as her character cha-cha, a ruthless time-traveling hitwoman, seeks unfair revenge on her work partner who chose humanity to go live out his last days with the love of his life. both of these songs push the limits of the musical talent and power these women hold. i could truly go on about the show for hours, but i absolutely canât recommend it enough. the first two seasons are some of my favorite pieces of film iâve ever had the pleasure of enjoying, as even though the show isnât artistically-shot or critically acclaimed, itâs so well-written, produced, and acted that it creates a spark of excitement deep within me that my words simply canât describe.â
⊠but i have to say âhi, iâm lauren. nice to meet you.â
#did i mention i love this show#i love film so much#and so often do i love looking at the art behind each shot and the way each character acts#and i know that most netflix-produced shows and movies completely lack that view#but i canât help but love it for the plot and the music and the writing and the acting and the effects and the cast and the ahgghbbghbbbb#everything about it#(except for season 4. we donât talk about that)#because my words truly canât encapsulate just how much i love this show#and i wish i could literally tell every single person i ever encounter all about it#but unfortunately not a lot of people care#my friends and family are tired of hearing about it iâm sure#iâm truly obsessed with this show#itâs borderline insane#someone help iâm actually going insane!!!!!!!!!1!1!!1!!!!!1!1!!!!#laur rambles#tua s4 hater!!!!!!!#the umbrella academy#tua#umbrella academy#five hargreeves#hargreeves siblings#number five#mary j blige#emmy raver lampman#aidan gallagher#tua soundtrack#tua s1#tua s2#tua spoilers#laur says stuff

So Albert Wesker says "natural selection leaves the survivors stronger and better", right? So you'd think that means that he considers himself stronger and better than Alex, who was not chosen by the Progenitor virus. But I think it would add a lot to both characters if Capcom confirmed that he left the last sample of Uroboros to her, assuming that it would choose her as a god of the new world, too.
#capcom i need more wesker siblings content#and not the Netflix series#alex wesker#albert wesker#alex had a picture of them as adults and she clearly cared a lot about him so we know they were still in contact after Spencer's death

Biggest fear is that the long-awaited old guard 2 is going to be really disappointing because we've built up years of fandom and headcanons and whatnot, and that a week or so after it's released the fandom just dies
#if i speak the fears out loud they won't happen lol#but i fear it because this happened to me with umbrella academy. season 2 was good but not the same as the first#and season 3 was just off the rails lol#so i kind of have 0 expectations for tog2 except that i expect there to be no andy/quynh. i fear that. but i expect it.#because i feel like having two canon gay relationships is just too much for netflix lol. but why do i care? idk it would be nice to have?#only other expectation is that they're going to try to cram in so much action -#- that there's not going to be a lot of time for reflective moments or character development#or those soft quiet introspective moments that made the first movie so different from any other action movie.#okay fine i have one more fear. that whatever happens in the sequel -- however quynh is represented --#-- will be totally different from the quynh in my head and i will no longer want to write all the stories i have planned.#we could also always just say screw you to canon material. there's that option. but i like the canon !!
