You don’t remember exactly how or why they found you but you remember every other detail after that. It was an average Friday evening after you had gotten off from your low-paying, tedious daycare job. You wanted nothing more than to sit down with a glass of wine and watch your mindless TV. When suddenly a woman appeared on the screen shouting about how America has some problem and it has something to do with the literacy rates. As an educator, you agreed, you watched it unfold in your first grade classroom for the last past 2 years. Kids coming in post-pandemic without a clue how to write their own name let alone how to read and write other things on grade level. You can’t count how many times you had heard the sentence; “Teacher, I don’t know how to spell my name” or “Teacher can you help me spell-“ and the word is their last name or a simple word that’s on level for a preschooler like ‘cat’ or ‘man’. People liked to blame it on the environment, you worked in an inner city school in an extremely poverty stricken neighborhood, which was part of the problem but you blamed it on the parents. They didn’t read with the children anymore. They’re so quick to hand them a tablet to keep the quiet. Some of them don’t even know how to play basic games like ‘rock-paper-scissors or tag’. The parents don’t even want to interact or read to the children. They just diagnose them with disorders when all they suffer from is lack of love. You had to say this advertising company really knew their stuff, the facts were accurate and the woman they had speaking was extremely attractive. But then the commercial was suddenly interrupted. The TV flashed with the scratch that reminded you of a corrupted old tape. Then a dark figure appeared on the screen with glowing red eyes. “Mindless human! Your days in this retched world have come to an end,” the figure spoke in a grim register. “Wha- what do you mean? Who the hell are you,” you stammered. You loved joking about your suicidal ideations and your job has left you not wanting to live anymore on more than one occasion. But none of that meant you wanted to be killed especially by this fool. But before you could pick up the remote to turn the TV off, you heard your front window swing wildly open. In rushed a barrage of dark figures similar to the first one who had now by the way made it out of the television and was now standing on your living room carpet. “ALRIGHT YOU FREAKS, YOU WANNA MESS UP MY EVENING AND TRY TO KILL ME, YOU’RE IN FOR THE FIGHT OF YOUR LIVES!” You threw everything you could see; chairs, tables, food, drinks you even threw a couple appliances, or were they thrown at you? You cant remember. Soon you had been pinned to the ground, and were looking at the figure from earlier. “Wow mortal, I didn’t expect your kind to have such fight. Anyway, we’ve got a schedule to keep boys, let’s take her to the other side.” The other side? Were you dead already? Where the hell were you going? Before you could question this you passed out

“Boss we’ve returned with the mortal”

“Well my, my, my, what a fine specimen.”

“You, human subject are in for it now, just wait until the boss sees you!” You opened your eyes to see several more dark figures surrounding you.

“Who- who are you people and what do you want with me? I’m just an average person, I have no connections to the underworld! I barley have connections in the human realm!”

“On the contrary my dear mortal, you have connections that run deep in the underworld, biig connections.” Just before you can question the demon in front of you another demon appears, this one is a lot larger and has large pitch black wings. Their presence causes every one else to bow a knee indicating he is a king or deity of some sort. Just then the deity speaks up.

“Hey, its been forever, how you been?” The voice sounded familiar, like Kev, an old friend, no an ex-lover of yours.

“Kev?”

“You know it, what’s up girly?” You missed Kev so much, you remember attending his funeral and being angered to near tears about how people he called his friends talked so bad about him. Kev was such a great guy, he was your high school sweetheart, typical puppy love.You guys did everything together. He was such a loveable, talented and creative guy, he was also funny to boot, you could see why he had such a respectful and well-organized army under him. He was also the class clown so your parents didn’t think a book smart gal like you was good for him.

“Why would you of all people want me dead, did I do something wrong?”

“Nah, its not you, you’re golden. I just wanted to see you and get you away from all that damn misery. I couldn’t stand to see you like that.” Your currently life could make even the most stoic of people miserable. No one respected you, not even your own family. Not even your own students listened to you

“So why not call, or text or come back?”

“’Cuz y’know the line of communication between the human and demon world ain’t exactly wide open,” You expected that much.

“So what you gonna do now if you ain’t gonna kill me?”

“Nun much really, just wanted to chill down here for a while.” You could go for that.

And go for it you did, you stayed down there with Kev, you talked, you laughed and you became a integral figure in his underworld community.

You’re about to be sacrificed by a cult, but when the demon appears before you, it speaks with the voice of your high school friend and says “Hey man, haven’t seen you in forever!”

Part One: Here ♡ (this isn’t really a part two but that fic is connected to this one)

“Sweetheart? Are you awake?” Izuku calls, creeping the door to the bedroom open slightly. You lay, curled up underneath the blanket in the bed. It’s been about a week since Izuku had kidnapped you. You obviously didn’t have a great reaction to this, sobbing your eyes out while begging to be let go. At least now you’ve calmed down a little bit but you’re still absolutely terrified.

Izuku gently closes the door, taking small and quiet steps. He tries his best to be soft and quiet as not to scare you anymore than you already are. “Isamu was sad that she couldn’t say goodbye to you before she went to daycare, but she said that she wanted me to give you a hug since she couldn’t” Izuku chuckles a bit, remembering his daughters words in the morning while he was doing her hair. He sits on the bed beside you, frowning when you flinch away from him. He hates seeing his love so upset.

“Darling, do you mind if I get under the covers with you?” Izuku asks, of course, his question wasn’t meant to be answered. It was entirely rhetorical. He was going to snuggle you anyways no matter what your answer was. You don’t answer him. Only clenching your eyes shut to ignore your captor, your body trembling.

Izuku slowly crawls underneath the comforter, bringing your quivering body to his. He wraps a muscular arm around your waist. Izuku uses a hand to lift your face to see him. You only keep your eyes clenched shut, new and fresh tears on your cheeks. “Oh, Y/n...” He mumbles, feeling as though he also needs to cry just from seeing you so scared “Please don’t cry” He gently wipes your tears with his thumbs.

“P-please let me go...” you whisper, hiccuping in the middle of your sentence as you sob. You loved teaching and watching Isamu, the little girl was one of your favorite students. You liked her father, Izuku, as well. He was kind to you in all the times you had met him. Until he kidnapped you claiming to have fallen in love with you.

“I can’t, sweetheart” Izuku says, pulling your head to his chest to comfort you “I just want to keep you safe and happy. I love you and Isamu loves you. We’re the perfect family” he says, soothingly rubbing circles on your back “You just don’t understand yet, darling. Eventually you’ll realize that you and I are meant to be together, we’re meant to be in love”

You only begin sobbing harder at his words. He just didn’t get it did he? He was truly, truly delusional. Izuku can feel tears slide down his own face at your cries, he wishes that you weren’t so sad about this. He knows that eventually you’ll get over your fear of him and being here, however he wishes the realization of this would come to you sooner.

“Angel, there are so many things that we can do once you realize you’re meant to be here” Izuku says, shifting his voice to be happier, trying to shift the topic to cheer you and himself up. “Like, we could get married! Wouldn’t that be lovely? We could have daisies be the flowers in your bouquet, since they’re Isamu’s favorite! Oh! Wouldn’t Isamu be the cutest little flower girl?” He lets out a chuckle, imagining his daughter in a cute dress, walking down the isle while messily throwing flower petals in the air.

Izuku continues rambling on about your eventual moments together. You just close your eyes, trying to block him out. Hopefully fall asleep, hoping to wake up in your bed from this bad dream. However, you know that when you wake up, you’ll still be in his arms.

After a small spat at the merchants assembly, Levi was determined to avoid Hange and her flower shop at all costs. Unfortunately, The funny thing about trying to avoid someone is that you have to have a rough approximation of their daily routine. And so, his quest began.

Cheery voices of kids boomed in celebration as soon as they finished singing.

Ever since summer break started, the flower shop in front of his store started a “Horticulture Camp” for little kids. At first, He didn’t really pay much attention to the cacophony of loud cheers and noises but as days passed, customers would leave little comments like “Sure does sound like a daycare in there.” or “Your neighbor sounds like they're having a lot of fun in there huh?”

The thought about confronting the owner of the flower shop did cross his mind, but there's a little problem, they had a little bit of a spat at the shop keeps assembly last month.

Okay, he'll admit it, maybe It's not just a spat, It's more like a full blown passive aggressive squabble. His memory of the event was a little hazy but he recalled raising his concern about the dried leaves that keeps blowing over his store. Something about her nonchalance about his concern and something about his word choice led to a disastrous mistranslation of what he really wanted to say which somehow escalated to a kerfuffle. "You and Hange will be the hot topic of the whole merchants block for a good while." Erwin warned him after the assembly. Tch! He certainly didn't need that kind of attention.

Since then, Levi kept his distance from that damn flower shop and focused on minding his own business. He is determined to avoid this Hange at all costs! Unfortunately, The funny thing about trying to avoid someone is that you have to have a rough approximation of their daily routine. And so, his quest began.

Hange's schedule was never consistent.

Sometimes she'd open her shop so late that her students would start rough housing by the sidewalk waiting for her arrival. Their parents would wait by her store too and they were seemingly too charmed by her to get annoyed about her tardiness. By the time she gets there the kids would immediately run towards her climbing on her limbs but she never seemed to mind. Those kids eyes would shine so bright at her , he’s pretty sure he’d go blind if he kept on staring at them.

She never seemed to eat lunch for some reason. Sometimes, the son of the deli owner at the corner of their street, Moblit , would come by to bring her food. There was a time when he thought the guy was courting her but he can tell by that sad longing stare he gives at her when he leaves her shop that Hange had no fucking clue about his intentions.

She never brings an umbrella even when it rains. She just runs across the street donning a hoodie. Which she would continue to wear all throughout the day. She’d definitely get sick if she doesn't dry herself up properly. If the rain is still pouring by the time she closes up her store, Hange would spend a good minute to stare at the night sky marveling at the little droplets like its the first time she ever saw one in her life. Nights like that , he would close up a little late to make sure she's gone before he leaves.

Observing her became a routine at this point.

During warm sunny days, she would wear a brightly colored shirt underneath her overalls. Unfortunately, the shirt seemed to be the only thing she changes regularly. He can tell it's the same overalls because it still has all the stains in the same place as the day before. Her best record was 5 days without washing the damned thing and he can't tell if that's impressive or disgusting.

When the kids aren't around, Hange would dote on her plants until late hours of the day. He'd watch her methodically arrange flowers and pour all her love and care to every bouquet she makes. All the while ignoring the fact that she haven't had food at all. ( He knows because Moblit recently got a girlfriend and since then , he only drops by the flower shop to pick up orders for his new love interest.) All he ever see her consume are cups of coffee and not even the good stuff. Just the regular instant kind from the grocery. Days like that , he hopes that she would at least stop by a convenience store to pick up something to eat.

It didn't take too long for him to consider that maybe Hange isn't an asshole at all.She's just one of those people who gets easily preoccupied with things that pique her interest is all. To hell with her health, appearance or even basic cleanliness. Its frustrating but at the same time its a relief to know that underneath all that nuttiness is a seemingly good person.

He was just closing up shop one night when he noticed her still sitting in her store as she practiced playing the Photosynthesis song on her guitar.She was surrounded by an array of beautiful flowers and in that dim light, he could've sworn she looked like a scruffy forest diety.

And it was at that point when he realized that a smile is creeping up his lip. What the fuck was that about?

As if hearing his thoughts, Hange's head perked up from her guitar and turned towards him. He froze as soon as their eyes met. She gave him a tight lipped smile and at that, Panic shot through him. He immediately turned away from her and rushed to turn off the lights and closed his store.

Days after that encounter, Levi had to resist the urge to spare even a peek over her shop. he didn't like that sometimes his mind would wander to images of her that night. He probably overdid his little investigation is all! He had to stop watching her schedule anyway , he had all the information he needs at this point.

However, her presence never seemed to leave him. He'd still overhear the rhythm of her guitar and the rambunctious laughter from her little campers. Even Eld and Gunther are starting to warm up to it. "There's something about the sound of children having fun that puts me at ease." He heard Eld reason out to Gunther the other day. Even Oluo who once mentioned his irritation with the constant singing is starting to absentmindedly hum the damn song.

He's ready to let the whole thing go but when a loud crashing sound (which is probably another pot broken by a child.) caused Petra to make a small uneven line on her work , he knew he had to do something. Even if these type of mistakes are easily fixed, precision is utterly important in his business and he can't have random nuisances ruining his reputation. He'll do it tomorrow. NO! He'll do it tonight! There's no use to delay the inevitable.

Odd enough, he did wonder if she even knew his name.

Levi was just closing up his shop that night when he heard someone open the door. Accepting late night jobs Isnt new to him but he did commit to speaking with Hange about his concerns so he let out an absent minded “We're closed” warning before realizing who entered his shop.

It’s her.

She wore an oversized green overalls paired with battered up chucks that he bet was once white. Her brown mop of hair was tied messily up on her head. He didn’t miss the huge ass bouquet tucked in her arm as she struggled to get through his door.

“A little help?” She said, as if they didn’t had a spat that literally had them screaming at each other infront of other people. Levi paused cleaning his tattoo gun and hurried to help her. ”What are you doing here at this hour?” He asked genuinely out of curiosity than irritation.

”I just wanna give you these.” She beamed as she let go of the huge bunch for him to carry inside. “The kids got a little carried away with their flower arrangements today and I’d feel awful if I have to throw it out.” She continued.

“You think dumping this monstrosity to me is the solution?” He asked, immediately regretting his word choice.

“Monstrosity?!”Hange placed her hand on her chest playfully feigning mortification and shock.

He rolled his eyes at her and was a bit surprised that Hange chuckled at him and leisurely walked past him to take a seat at one of the stools by his register and started innocently looking around his shop seemingly waiting on him for a conversation. "Neat place you got here." She said.

"Thanks?" He said genuinely confused what she's doing here. Although, He did wonder if it has something to do with that awkward encounter they had the other night. He really hoped she already forgot about that. “What are these for?” He asked as he opened the cupboards hopelessly trying to look for a vase somewhere in his shop.

“I was gonna ask you for a favor.” She replied.

He scoffed. “what makes you think I’d help you.”

“It’s for a good cause! Plus,I was thinking it’s your opportunity to make up with that whole assembly incident we had.”

He paused and glared daggers at her. She still have that goofy smile on her face. “That dumb assembly incident was not something I want to make up with.” He said stubbornly.

Hange rolled her eyes at him. “Oh please you were angry over a few dried pieces of leaves in front of my store it’s hardly even your business.”

“Your leaves are blowing over my store front so yes it was my business.”

“You know I run a flower shop right? These things happen. I cant just wait outside my store and catch all the falling leaves for your convenience.” Her voice slightly raised as if she’s explaining something so obvious to him. Of course he knows these things happen, he’s not an idiot. All he wants is for her to take responsibility and not be so nonchalant over it.

“You don’t even...” He closed his mouth. She's starting to get a rise from him and it made him queasy. It's not even worth it. He closed his eyes to calm himself.

“Look, the favor isn’t even for me.” She started. Her tone of aggressiveness gone. ”Just hear me out please?” Her voice sounded gentle and warm this time. She’s so hot and cold it’s starting to drive him insane.

He opened his eyes and was met with her brown orbs that shone bright behind her dirty glasses. “Go ahead.” He said defeatedly avoiding her pleading eyes and proceeded to turn back to his cupboard. He should just let her say her piece and move on.

“It’s for one of my campers actually.”

“Hn.Which one? the brunette kid that shouts a lot?”

“Oh you know Eren?”

“He always sticks his snotty face up on my window how can I forget.”

“Yeah, That kid adores you you know , he asked about you and what you guys do here a couple of times before. He even threw fits because he wanted to get a tattoo from you.”

He scoffed. ”How is that my problem?”

”You see, his little friend Armin loved the camp but is a little too shy for his own good. He won’t attend sessions without Eren who sort of refused to attend til you tattoo something on him.”

“So you want me to tattoo a child? ”He turned from his fruitless quest for a vase on his cupboard to raise a brow at her.

“Not a real one, just one of those temporary tattoo stickers.”

He scratched the back of his head and let out a sigh. It would be easier to complain to her about the noise of she owed him some sort of favor. Right? "Alright." He said.

She surged out of her seat and gave out a small yelp startling him. "You'd do it? Really?" Her eyes seemed brighter now.

“Yeah sure." He said as he marveled at how expressive her eyes were. He willed himself to tear his eyes from her damn face. "Is there anything else?” He asked.

“Yes.” She replied enthusiastically.

“You are really pushing your luck here four eyes.”

She chuckled at that and pushed her glasses a bit higher up her nose. ”Don't worry, this one isn't a favor. More like a friendly advice."

He raised a brow at her. "What?"

"Put those in cold water. They'd last longer that way.” She said pointing at the bright colored bouquet at the table which certainly looked out of place against the black and gray interior of his shop.

After exchanging details about their little activity tomorrow, Hange gave him a final enthusiastic wave before taking off his shop leaving him in awe.

Ah. He forgot to mention his noise complaint.

The next day, nine little children were lined up orderly marching up infront of his store led by Hange. She carried a red flag to remind everyone where she is at all times. They all wore a silk screen printed shirt that says plants rule in front and some sort of a plant pun at the back.

Hange's shirt says. 'Someone has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens.'

Ah. That was pretty good...and also pretty dumb.

“Are you sure about this boss?” Oluo asked as he worked on a cover up on a customers shoulder.

"No." He answered earing a chuckle from Eld, Gunther and Petra at the back.

"Good Morning Underground Ink!" Hange enthusiastically cheered as she opened the door.

"Keep your voice down four eyes!"

“Oh! Sorry!" She mouthed at him before turning back to her campers. "Kids say good morning to Mr.Ackerman!” She beamed.

“Goodmorning Mister Ackerman!” The kids said in unison in a sing song tune. He gave them a small nod of acknowledgement then proceeded to cut out the temporary tattoo sheet into small pieces. The kids immediately scattered around the store to take a look at the reference books laid on his lounge. He glowered at Hange. "You said they'd behave."

"They would I promise! They're just a bit excited with our little expedition."

"If they break anything, I swear you're gonna pay ten times the price."

"Oh don't be such a grump!" She said slapping his arm. "Ouch! You didn't tell me you work out."

"Tch." He clenched his jaw and focused his eyes on the tattoo sheets he's cutting up. Damn four eyes and her mouth.

"Hey Kids! Gather over here Mr.Ackerman will show you how to put on a tattoo."

“Is this gonna hurt?” Eren innocently asked.

“Not if you’re brave.” He answered. The kid involuntarily recoiled at that. He can tell that Eren's starting to have second thoughts and struggled to put on a brave face. Eren immediately sought out Hange seemingly asking for help and at that, she immediately stepped up and ruffled the kids hair. ”I’ll get my tattoo done first.” Hange hopped on a chair and presented her wrist to Levi.

Levi held her hand to keep her arm steady. His eyes darted at her as if asking her if the touch was permitted and he was met with a sweet smile. He immediately avoided her eyes pushing down the thought of her playing her guitar surrounded by flowers...a scruffy forest diety. he recalled the exact words that formed on his mind that night.

He bit the inside of his cheek to ground himself to reality. Levi held the damp towel against her wrist and she let out a little yelp. He immediately pulled away hoping he didn't press too hard while his mind wandered to silly memories of her the other night. "Gotcha!" Hange teased chuckling at him. "Ass!" he said playfully throwing his towel at her face gaining another laugh from the brunette. The kids huddled around them giggled at them.

"Ms.Hange, What's an ass?" A little girl munching potato chips asked.

"It's another term for a donkey." A small timid blonde kid answered.

"Thats right Armin!Very good!" Hange said. The blonde kid blushed at her praise and glued his eyes on the floor.

"What's a donkey?" Potato chip girl asked again.

"It's like a little horse" Armin answered.

"Why are you calling Ms.Hange a donkey Mr.Ackerman? She doesn't even look like a horse" A kid with shaved head asked.

"...unlike Jean over here." Eren added and a kid with elvish features (which he assumed is Jean) stepped up and hit Eren by the arm. Eren was ready to retaliate when Hange spoke.

"Kids, we promised Mr.Ackerman no rough housing inside the store." Hange reminded them calmly and the kids immediately pulled away from one another.

There was a brief moment of silence and wondering gasps from children around them as he worked on Hange's tattoo.“So does anyone have a question to Mister Ackerman.” He immediately frowned. He said yes to tattooing kids not chatting them up. Nothing would have prepared him for the set of questions that came rushing in after Hange's open invite.

Eren is the last one to get his tattoo. He disinfected his arm with alcohol and his eyes drifted to Hange who was blushing at the sight of a kid adorably putting on a brave face.

Levi had to look away.

At the end of the session,all kids merrily walked back to her shop comparing all their little tattoos. Hange then thanked him for playing along with her little activity.

His whole afternoon was a blur. Between those kids who won't stop asking him and Hange's constant teasing smirks he was out of it. He scrubbed the side of his tattoo gun a little harder.

“I see you put my flowers in a bucket.”

Levi almost dropped his tattoo gun as Hange's merry voice boomed around the shop.

“Its the closest thing I have to a vase.” He said wondering if she’s offended that he chucked her precious flowers on a bucket, but that endearing smile she had on her face says otherwise.

“I had just the thing!” She rushed out of his shop and came back with a huge crystal vase.

“What's that?”

“Its a vase I inherited from my gram-gram.”

“I can see its a vase.”

“Well with the horticulture camp and all I'm scared this would get knocked over and you seem like an organized responsible sort of guy. Maybe you can take care of this for me for a while.”

She’s certainly getting a little too comfortable with favors now. ”What makes you think I wouldn’t knock it over to get back on you for that assembly mess.”

“Because you’re nicer than your letting on.” she says as she procured a small rose from her back pocket and gently tucked its stem behind his ear. He compelled his hand to swat her arm way but his body didn't cooperate. He stood there frozen wondering if she truly was some sort of a scruffy forest deity and she's punishing him from his insolence at that assembly.

Okay, that sounded dumb...What the hell is wrong with him?

"Did the kids asked you to give me this?" He forced himself to reply.

"Nah, That one is from me." She said. Her eyes were bright and her face were slightly flushed. He wondered if he'd never seen anyone look this gallant and handsome before.

"You don't like it?" She asked cocking her head to the side.

"No! I-ah...I'm just..." He stuttered trying to find the right words without sounding pathetic. His hand raised to touch the flower on his ear. He never got flowers before. He felt a smile coming up so he forced a frown.

“Why are you frowning? Don't tell me you're still upset about that assembly thing? I thought were past that?”

“Tch! No were not!” Levi recoiled at how loud his reply was.

”You see, I would be threatened but I just watched you spend your afternoon tattooing a bunch of kids even though you are not paid for it so...Yeah...I guess water under the bridge right?”

“Who says I'm not charging you? I thought you came here to pay up.” He smirked finding calm at her retort.

At that, Hanji laughed. She fucking laughed! The woman even clutched her arms around her stomach and doubled over. She practically radiated with warmth and a familiar sense of home. “Alright you got me, I don’t want to owe you anything so how about a cup of coffee sometime? Although, you seemed to prefer tea”

He scrunched his face. "How do you know I prefer tea?"

Everyone helps clean up the table and dishes, and Grayson leads her into his room while they leave the other two to have some alone time. He prays that he made his bed that morning and that there’s no dirty underwear on the floor or used tissues on the nightstand.

Luckily, the floor is relatively clear, and the bed is made, if haphazardly so. She follows him into the en-suite bathroom and watches him dig under the cabinet in the first aid bucket he has down there.

“Woah,” Grayson says, eyebrows raised in surprise at the fizzing bubbles visibly picking up the bright red from the fibers of his shirt. “Where did you learn this trick?”

“I work in the toddler room at a daycare. We keep this stuff on sight and scene to avoid 20 outfit changes a day on a few two year-olds. I’m sure you can imagine the amount of ketchup and blood stains a toddler procures on the daily.”

Grayson chuckles. He feels himself growing more fond of her by the second. “You like kids?”

“I love them,” she replies with a grin. “Working in childcare is pretty rough, but it’s been a great college job. Lots of experience for my degree. And, you know, good practice for the future one day.”

He takes a moment to assess himself and his thoughts. He doesn’t think he’s letting his dick lead him right now, even if he does want her that way. “Movie?” Ethan asks when the two of them settle on the couch, a respectful and calculated distance between them — not too close and not too far.

“Sure.”

They’re all in a fun and lighthearted mood tonight, so they settle on Moana. Grayson wants nothing more than to throw his arm around the beautiful girl next to him, who sings along playfully to the songs she knows, her enthusiastic movements shuffling her closer to him. He doesn’t know if it’s intentional, but he doesn’t really care; her presence in both body and spirit feels good to him.

Ethan’s girlfriend only makes it about halfway through the movie before she’s passed out, tired from the long flight earlier that day. He looks down at her fondly and chuckles when he sees her nuzzled sound asleep against his chest.

“I’m gonna take her to bed,” he announces quietly before standing with her in his arms. “Goodnight, guys.”

They both murmur back “goodnight” and watch Ethan disappear down the hall. The movie plays on for a couple of minutes, before she’s turning to him and making small talk. Which turns into broader conversation about bigger things. Which leads to them settling so close that their knees touch. She finds an excuse to pick an invisible fleck of something off his hand, which turns into their fingers playing with each other’s teasingly.

Which turns to Grayson checking his watch in a quiet but not unpleasant lull, and muttering, “Oh, shit,” in surprise.

She checks her phone lying on the couch cushion behind her. The time shines back at her 1:27 AM.

“Damn, when did it get so late?” she wonders aloud, looking at him amusedly.

Grayson shakes his head. “Time flies,” he says. Whether it’s the late hour, or him getting his mojo back, or just the fact that he’s so naturally comfortable with her, he suddenly feels bold enough to reach out and tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. “Are you tired?”

She blushes and bites her lip, allowing him to keep his warm palm pressed to her neck while his thumb strokes the ridge of her jaw gently.

“Not really,” she answers, scooting that much closer to him. “Not ready to go to my bed, anyways.”

She’s referring to the guest room she’s already settled her things into. Grayson smiles. Rules be damned, he thinks, until he realizes in the next moment that there’s no way this amazing girl is going to be just a hookup. There’s no rule to be broken.

What about that time poor Din is picking Grogu up at daycare or school or whatever and there’s an, idk, substitute or something who thinks he’s Hooligan?

Like, idk, the night before was rough and Din was up late and when he drops Grogu off his hair is messy.

(Perhaps Luke had something to do with that, playfully ruffling his hair to wake him up because he knows Din isn’t much of a morning person, but he’s stupidly adorable like a grumpy bear cub, and anyway. Din was running late and didn’t have time to primp in the mirror or whatever.)

He’s wearing a faded shirt with the logo of a band he listens to on the front - nothing graphic or upsetting but it’s a rock band, so you know, clearly of The Devil - and old jeans he should have gotten rid of a long time ago but they’re comfy and he loves them, and anyway. He forgot to do the laundry and Luke was out of town most of the week, back home with his family for something, and anyway, they’re clean and he can deal with the rest later.

Also, though. Leather jacket that was a gift from Boba a few years back and it’s a little chilly in the morning, and he loves the jacket, so yes.

Basically Din just looks like a Very Tired Dad when he drops Grogu off in the morning, and the regular teachers and whatnot smile at him because he’s honestly the sweetest man, and clearly adores his son as much as Grogu adores him, but!

The Substitute who sees Din and is like Hooligan, and obviously their co-workers are too blind to see it. Why just look at his child! Messy hair and grubby little hands - he’s a child??? - and anyway.

HOOLIGAN.

Din doesn’t notice The Substitute having a fit because he’s invested in making sure Grogu remembered his school stuff, crouched down to help him out of his jacket and run a hand through his hair to make it look a little more presentable. Grinning when Grogu tries to do the same for him but it’s too late for that, buddy, Din’s hair is always going to be a mess.

Drops a kiss on the top of his head and tells him to be good, please, my old heart cant take it otherwise and gives Grogu a little push towards the other kids, his friends and waits until he’s inside the classroom before he heads off to Boba’s shop or wherever.

And, okay.

Same routine for a couple of days and after the third one he finally realizes he’s getting the stink-eye from the Substitute and is like. What did he do???

He mentions it to Luke in passing who is like oh??? and drops by Grogu’s school or daycare or whatever that afternoon under the guise of bringing him his lunch. (Oh, what’s that? Din made sure he had one with him that morning, haha, guess he’s just being sill again, huh? Oh, is that a new teacher?)

Luke is charming and sweet and friendly and learns one of the regular is out sick for the week and they’ve got this Substitute. Bit prickly, stickler for the rules and whatnot, but they’re new and hopefully experience in the real world will help give them a more...balanced perspective, or something like that.

And Luke, okay, he knows what’s going on.

Knows Din gets mistaken for being this bad boy figure because he looks the part, you know?

Rough around the edges and such, comes across as gruff, even aloof sometimes, but he’s just.

Quiet.

Watchful.

One of the most respectful people Luke’s met, doesn’t see the point in useless chatter and it gives people the wrong impression of him.

The thing where he doesn’t mind bending the rules and such, but does so for  reason.

And, Luke knows thanks to Paz and the others Din grew up with, he was a Good Kid growing up. Got into fights here and there, but always to protect someone who couldn’t protect themselves. Got good grades in school - smart, smart kid who took honors classes and such - and so on.

(And then there’s Luke, and Leia. Smart kids themselves, but the Thing their dad and chip on their shoulders and anyway, Luke’‘s pretty sure if Din ever got detention it was a rare occurrence compared to him and Leia who might as well have lived in detention half the time.)

Anyway.

Luke and Leia look like Good Kids and are kind of the exact opposite. Like, sure they got good grades in school too, but they were definitely the trouble kids.

Din, who actually was a Good Kid but looks like he’s not, and anyways.

Luke’s run into people before who thought the worst of Din from on glance at him, like they knew anything about him.

Stll. He makes a point of meeting the Substitute and making nice with them, all friendly, non-threatening smiles and chitchat before has to leave before his own lunch break is over and such.

AND THEN.

Luke makes sure to be there when Din picks Grogu up that afternoon. Brings his bike and all.

Makes sure to be obnoxious about it, revving the engine and wearing his Rogue’s jacket and Din’s Aviators he pilfered a few days ago and Din keeps giving him :(((((((((( face about getting back.

The regulars at Grogu’s school/daycare have seen him wearing that particular Look before, maybe got some some harmless flirting tossed his way to get Din to sigh at Luke and his suitors before putting his arm around Luke like hey no, this idiot’s mine, get your own, and anyway.

They know Luke’s the bad influence in that particular family, bad seed and all.

Luke roars up on his bike, right next to Din and his minivan and Grogu who is mcfreaking delighted to see Luke and his bike.

“Why are you like this?” Din asks, handing Grogu over when both he and Lue make grabby hands at one another, but it’s all soft and fond and he maybe gives Luke a little hey, hello, i missed you today kiss even though Luke is stupidly dramatic in the dumbest ways.

And Luke, okay.

Catches the eye of the Substitute who is staring at the three of them all scandalized and whatnot because look.

Din was in the process of getting Grogu into the Very Safe car seat in the backseat of his adorable minivan when this Hooligan came tearing in on his motorcycle like an actual hooligan.

Din had time to do the laundry so he’s wearing jeans a thread away fro falling apart and this nice sweater Grogu helped Luke pick out for Din as a birthday present or something like that. Soft and comfortable and presentable. Brings out the color of Din’s eyes and has gotten him more than a few appreciative looks - like the ones right now from some of the parents. The same ones who flirt with Luke because it’s fun and safe and Din’s reaction is always the best, and anyway.

Din looks like the Good Kid he was, the Good Man he is, and Luke looks like the awful, terrible, no good Hooligan he absolutely is.

Anyway, it’s not like Luke’s making a point or anything, just.

He’s not a fan of people assuming the worst of Din when they don’t know the first thing about him.

Din is like, I’m onto you Skywalker, because he’s not an idiot, you know. Luke only wears his biker gang gear when he’s off with Biggs and Wedge and them, and Luke’s been acting weird the last coupe of days.

And since when, Din would like to know, when does Luke show up here on his bike? He knows Grogu’s not big enough to ride on it with him.

(Let’s say this all happens before Din meets them because I didn’t think of that at the time, but whatever.)

He glances over his shoulder and thinks a-ha, when the Substitute’s eyes go wide at getting caught staring (scowling) at them, and then looks at Luke who gives him this Stubborn Idiot look he gets sometimes.

“My hero,” Din says, getting a laugh out of Luke and the back of his hand smacking his shoulder playfully because Luke’s being serious here, you jerk, the least you can do is not make fun of him, okay?

He gets a peck on the cheek and promise for a better thank you later when there’s no audience, and anyway. Give me my kid back and we’ll see you at home, yeah:

you came back to practice the next day and the day after that, and then it was like seeing you at practice was normal. akio skipping in front of you volleyball plush in tow, you sitting with misaki in the stands. then after practice, you’d hang around for a bit, letting akio run off with kageyama who (surprisingly) had taken a liking to the young striving setter, but ushijima thought that it was mostly because akio reminded him of someone else. 

and sometimes, your eyes would meet his and sometimes hirugami would invite him over to your group of three and sometimes you’d talk about your students and how you can’t wait until they open the lab again and your eyes would crinkle and he thought it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. or when akio would climb up his leg and you’d apologize but to him it was fine. it was akio, the next super setter who loved to watch ushijima play, and he was your son, of course, it was fine. 

but he didn’t have feelings for you, of course he didn’t.

he felt something towards you, but they weren't feelings. he knew how feelings worked, there was maemi very briefly in high school and rini two years ago. he was pretty sure there were feelings back then, and they didn’t feel like the ones he had now.

misaki scrunched her face at your words, “obviously you wouldn’t need tickets, and does akio even know any of the kids from saturdays daycare?”

over the course of the next couple hours misaki had sent you photos of them during warmup. one of akio staring intently at the court, another of him smiling at the camera, and oh. the last one, made you laugh a little. it wasn’t a photo, but a video of akio talking to ushijima, his arms spread out wide accentuating his words and then like it was the easiest thing in the world the man had scooped him up into his chest and it had sent akio keeling in laughter.

and then underneath the video, “hmmmm akio and the super built amazing sexy ushijima wakatoshi are getting along quite well.”

you scoffed, ignoring the message (but saving the video). pulling the goggles off of your face you stepped back from your workspace, almost admiring the view that would let anyone know that someone was doing very, very important work here. you stepped out of the lab, taking a seat on the bench outside and kicking off your shoes, letting your mind wander.

you cant help the full fledged grin on your face when you look up to see japans cannon blushing because of a four-year-olds words.

akio nods furiously, “and then ushijima-san will win everytime!

out the corner of your eye you can see ushijima turning away, tips of his ears reddening quickly.

standing up, you take akios hand in your own. “tell me more in the car okay?”

and in a moment of courage? is that what its called. you turn toward the man who’s been plaguing your mind all day,

“thank you ushijima-san. i cant wait to hear what happened during the game.”

for the first time in four year you can feel your face lighting itself on fire.

Orphydice Weathering With You AU Part 2

I’m just gonna get straight to it!

Eurydice’s standing outside the backdoor of the bar. The alleyway is barely lit under the cloudy sky. She’s holding a bag filled with cheap snacks, deli sandwiches, and chips she bought at the store.

And she’s nervous af

What was she doing here? She was in an alleyway behind a bar where she’s supposed to be meeting a boy she barely knows (a cute boy sure) who can also control the weather?!

“Hello, Eurydice!” The girl jumps as she notices the backdoor she’s been staring at is wide open and being held by the boy plaguing her brain. “H-hey, Orpheus.”

The boy leads her inside and up the stairs to the house section of the mixed-use building. He and Mr. Hermes live above the bar. Once they reach his room, Eurydice holds out the bag she’s been gripping, “I bought these. Sorry I didn’t know what you like so-” “No, no this perfect! Thank you Eurydice,” he smiled causing the girl to unwillingly blush. Wth was wrong with her today??

Orpheus pulls her into the kitchen/living room hybrid and starts prepping their lunch while Eurydice looks around. There are pictures on shelves and on the walls of Orpheus in varying ages. Baby, a toddler with baby food painted across his mouth, cheeks, chubby fingers and even forehead? A picture of him standing outside of a classroom holding a sign that said “first day of kindergarten,” school photos, photos of him playing a guitar, writing, at the bar, nearly every picture is of him smiling. She even sees photos of a familiar man she can’t put a name on and...Persephone and Hades? She has to ask Orpheus about that.

Then she sees something. Eurydice reaches out to grab a frame that’s been knocked over and hidden, facing photo down. Carefully flipping it over, it’s an old photograph, the corners bent and worn with some discoloration from the years. It a picture of a woman holding a months old child. She’s smiling but eleven from the photo Eurydice can tell it’s not genuine. The baby is staring at someone, not looking directly at the camera. It must be Orpheus but who was the woman? 

“That’s my mother.” Eurydice whips around to see Orpheus, smiling slightly but there’s a trace of sadness behind his expression. “My dad left before I was born and that sent my mom into a downward spiral. She never wanted a kid, especially not one who was...“difficult to raise,” he emphasized with air quotes. “So she left me with Mr. Hermes when I was about 5 months. That’s the last pic we have of her and me together.”

Eurydice didn’t know what to say, she knew that Orpheus didn’t live with his mother but that was... “I’m sorry Orpheus.” Orpheus shakes his head, “no it’s fine. I think it worked out for the better. I love Mr. Hermes and my family and life here.” He said all that with a smile, no sadness to be found. “Do you have any family Eurydice?” Caught off-guard by the question, Eurydice ponders what to say. “No, no I don’t.”

The two eat and Eurydice pitches the idea she originally came to discuss: starting a partnership with Orpheus. “You want me to start changing the weather for money?” Orpheus is extremely hesitant at first because it doesn’t seem right to charge money for it but Eurydice convinces him (it will help him raise money for Hermes/expenses, spread joy for others she will handle the business part and all he has to do his the singing/weather changing). The two come to an agreement and even upload an ad on Craigslist for their services.

As they’re finishing up Mr. Hermes comes up and asks them what they’re doing. Eurydice finally figures out where she recognized the man from- she met him at Seph’s shop. “You’re Mr. Hermes?” she screams, less at Hermes and more at her own stupidity for not putting two and two together.

Suddenly a notification for their Craigslist ad pops up: someone hired them to clear the weather for an upcoming farmers market. Said farmers market is tomorrow.

“We already got an offer?! Eurydice I don’t think I can do this!” “Orpheus, you’ll be fine! I’ll be there with you tomorrow.” “It’s tomorrow?? Please let there be clear weather tomorrow...” “What would be the point of us showing up if the weather is already clear?!”

The next day, Orpheus is a mess. Eurydice brings him gloves with hand warmers in them, an umbrella she scribbled music notes in sharpie on and a thermos of hot tea. Orpheus appreciates the gesture (sure he cant use the close with he plays, nor hold the umbrella but the gesture is sweet all the same)

When they get to the market and set up, the rain is pouring furiously. Orpheus is shaking, partially from the cold, but mostly from nerves. He’s under an awning away from the crowd and mostly our if the rain but Eurydice still covers him with the umbrella as a precaution. His fingers are shaking as he starts playing, constantly stopping to tune the ancient guitar.

The runner of the market is not amused (it was one of his workers who hired these children). He tries to tell Eurydice and Orpheus to go home but Eurydice convinces him to wait. Orpheus begins his song, “la, la la la, la la la~ la, la la la, la la la~”

As he performs, the rain slowly comes to a stop, the clouds parting to reveal a beautiful crystal blue sky. The golden sun coming out to say hello. Murmurs from all around can be heard, fingers pointing to the sky, people shocked by the return of the sun.

The man is shocked and ends up paying the kids double than what they charged for proving him wrong. “You got a gift kid, voice ain’t half bad either.”

For the next month, the two get job, after job, after job. The run around the whole city and sometimes even further out, clearing the sky, for birthday parties, weddings, competitions, even for a daycares field trip to the park. Orpheus is never a stickler for payments (he did the daycare job for $20 (the teacher forced him to take it) and a bunch of stickers and snacks).

Orpheus and Eurydice get closer and closer through their job and all the travels they do (they both have crushes on each other but they’re teens. They stupid with love). Seph teases her for how much she hangs out with Orpheus (“I’m losing my apprentice to my cute nephew!”) while Hades gets more annoyed than anything (he misses her and all the stuff she does around the house. She makes hades and Seph ultimately get along better).

One of their biggest jobs is to clear the sky for a 4th of July firework show. Since they are hired by the event coordinators, the two have to dress up. Eurydice shows up in her black dress, Seph had got it tailored to fix any holes, tarnished hems, and other rips. While Eurydice talks with a few event workers, Orpheus shows up.

He looks absolutely adorable. Still, in his suspenders, he replaced his cream shirt and signature bandana for a white button-up with a red bow tie. His pant legs are rolled up to reveal red socks and fancy shoes.

Orpheus performs and the sky clears. The firework show goes off without a hitch. The event planners let Eurydice and Orpheus have a private area to watch the show as a thank you.

“It’s beautiful. I’ve never seen fireworks in person before,” Eurydice says. “Yeah, Mr. Hermes and Aunt Seph used to take me to watch these fireworks how’s for my birthday when I was younger. Haven’t been able to in years since Hermes has gotten sicker and Aunt Seph and Hades haven’t been getting along as well...”

Eurydice grabs his hand, “Orpheus when is your birthday?” “Oh,” Orpheus pauses for a second, “next week? 4 days to be exact.” “Oh my birthday is before yours,” Eurydice says.

“Wait, how old are you?” Orpheus asks. “I’m...1...8...” Eurydice says slowly. ‘You liar!’

“You don’t look 18,” Orpheus unintentionally counters. “You saying I’m lying?” Eurydice smirks. ‘You are!’ “No! I just meant you look young.”

“How old will you be next week Orpheus?” “Oh, um...17.”

‘Shit he’s actually older than me!’ Eurydice thinks to herself. Then sit there the rest do the night watching the fireworks but in all honesty, more time was spent between the two staring at each other secretly then actually watching the colorful display in the sky.

Over the next few days, Eurydice tries to figure out what to give Orpheus as a present. She tried asking Persephone and Hades but...they were absolutely no help. Then she tries Hermes. While Orpheus is busy, she slyly tries to question Hermes on what Orpheus would want for his birthday.

“So girl, how many secret jobs do you two have left?” Hermes asked while wiping some glasses. “Just one more next week, the day before Orpheus’ birthday actually.” “Really now?” “Yeah, since the job offers have been getting kinda overwhelming we decided to take one more offer then go on a break.”

Hermes nods and goes back to work. Perfect opportunity! “Speaking of Orpheus’ birthday-”

“You love him, don’t you girl?”

Eurydice then proceeds to freak the eff out. “What?? No! No, no! I mean, he is very cute and a talented musician and I love to hear him perform or laugh...or when he turns pink after cracking a joke. But I just wanted to think of a birthday present NOT BECAUSE I LIKE HIM OR ANYTHING! Just for a friend! Yeah, a friend...what the hell is wrong with me?”

Hermes smiles at the girl, “Eurydice.” The girl shuts up immediately. “I’ve been watching over that boy since he could talk. And I can tell you he would love whatever you’d give him. Even if you decided to give him nothing but a hug or a few sweet words. He would treasure it all. But I can tell that this goes deeper than you just wanting to surprise a friend with a present.”

Eurydice’s quiet, she knows he’s right but she wasn’t planning on be confronted on it today. “I... I like him...?” She raises the end like a question. Making sure that it’s okay.

Hermes nods, “aight, I give you my blessing.” Eurydice’s chest lightens. “Now about that gift idea...”

“Stop running!”

“Shit!” the man runs for his life. He hadn’t done anything wrong but with police, it never was innocent until proven guilty. It was guilty until proven innocent.

He ran down the slick streets, nearly falling as he turned the corner down a backstreet.

Suddenly he was corned by three detectives from the downtown police department. “Wait officers, I didn’t do nothing!” the man tries to reason with them.

“We know,” one says. “What?” the man asks. They hold out their badges: Detectives Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis.

“We tried to tell you that but you just went and started running,” detective Clotho said with an amused attitude.

“Are you the guy in this video?” detective Lachesis held out her ooh one displaying a shoddy video of surveillance footage of the night a month ago when a girl fired a shot that nearly blew his head off.

“Hell, that kid nearly shot me in the fucking face!”

“She’s apart of a missing child’s case,” detective Atropos states, not acknowledging what the witness just said. “Parents filed her as a runaway. She also may have possession of an illegal stolen firearm. A firearm that actually looks eerily similar to one that went missing from a previous unrelated case that wasn’t solved a few weeks before this incident.

“We need to find the girl. Have you seen her around?”

Seph is working at her Anthomania. The rain is drizzling once again and the streets are starting to flood. She’s arranging an order when an older woman steps through the door.

“Welcome in!”

“It’s really pouring out there ain’t it?” the woman asks. “Sure is,” Seph agrees. “Kinda frightening.”

“Frightening? Child ain’t nothing but a lil’ rain. The world was covered with water before humans were got involved. It’s all just a cycle. Reminds me of a story I dudes to hear as a child though.” Seph silently encourages her to continue. It’s a slow day, one old tale can’t harm her.

“There used to be ones that could control the weather. Children of the earth and sky, chosen to bring balance to nature. By their voices alone, they could end storms and disasters. Blessed beings they were. But they were also cursed with a heavy and heartbreaking burden. Those poor children.”

Seph back straightens, a chill running up her spine. Dread pooling in her stomach. “What kind of burden? What happened to those kids?”

The old woman gazes up at Persephone, “death.”

~Baldi’s Story~

Baldi also is known as a kid named Bryan. He lived with his mother and his father. He never had any siblings, He was gonna have a sister but unfortunately, she passed away while his mother was giving birth. Baldi was a good student. He was very smart and kind to everyone he met. He never got into fights and he never argued with his parents. But he had a reason not to.

His mother had fallen into depression after she lost her baby girl she rarely smiled after that. Baldi's father was an alcohol abuser. One day his father came home after, He seemed really mad about something that happened at work. He took his anger out on Baldi and his own wife. Baldi's mother yelled at him to go and hide in his room, and to not come out until she told him too. Baldi was an obedient child so he obeyed his mother's command and went to his room. He hid in his closet with nothing to do but hear his mother crying and his father yelling at her. Baldi was scared and he didn't know what to do since he was only 10 years old so he just waited and waited until he heard plates and bottles being thrown around and being shattered. Baldi knew that he had to go back into the kitchen and help his mother once he heard her screams for help. Baldi went to the kitchen to only find his mother on the ground with blood surrounding her head. Baldi fell to the floor knowing what had happened and knowing that he could have done something to stop this. His neighbors overheard the chaos that was going on inside their home. So the cops were called and came shortly after. The cops burst inside their home to find that Baldi’s father was holding a broken glass bottle in his hand and picking up Baldi by his shirt in his other hand. Baldi was bleeding and his mother was still on the floor. The cops tackled Baldi’s father and took him away with cuffs on his hand. Baldi stayed by his mother's side even when the ambulance came to take her. Sadly his mother couldn't resist the hits anymore and she passed away shortly after she arrived at the hospital.

Since Baldi was only ten at the time he went into foster care. He wasn't adopted for 1 year. But then a sweet family arrived and it was a father and a mother with 2 kids. Baldi was so happy that he got adopted but he never forgot about his dear mother. He got taken to his new home and he lived a happy life after that. He grew up with a little sister and a little brother. Once he went into college he took classes to become a math teacher.

He finished his first 2 years and he moved out of his house. He moved into a dorm room with another classmate of his which his name was Filename, also known as Jim. They had fun while they lived together. But when they both finished their 4th year of college Baldi moved on to find a job as a math teacher and Filename went somewhere else and no one knew where.

Baldi eventually found a job at a school house and he met the Principal of the school. His name was Jordan and he was a very friendly guy. They became friends pretty quickly. The school year started and Baldi 23 at the moment. While Princi was 25.

Baldi had found someone special and her name was Susan. A few years passed and Baldi asked her to marry him. They were together 2 years but Susan still accepted his marriage. They had a boy named Andrew. They had a very happy life. Baldi was 29 and his son was about to turn 4. Susan asked Baldi if they he wanted to go on a trip for their sons 4th birthday. Baldi asked his Boss, Jordan and since he was a very close friend of his he said he can take 1 or 2 weeks off. Baldi really appreciated that. So then Baldi, Susan, and their son Andrew got in the car and went on a trip to the beach for 1 week. Once that week passed Baldi thought it was a good idea for him to come back to work so he didn't lose so much money. Susan and Andrew understood so they decided to come back home. While they were on there way back, a truck was passing by and accidentally hits the side of Baldis car and caused them to flip over.

Baldi and his family were sent to the hospital in their hometown. Princi was watching the news and he recognized baldi and he immediately called the hospital. He was the first one to visit them. Once Princi walked into the room, he saw baldi crying and repeating to himself, “No no no this can't be happening!! Why me! I loved them! I lost people in my life before! I don't want to lose my family again! Why couldn't you take me instead? Why them..” Baldi looked up and saw Princi he tried to smile but all he could he could get out was tears. Princi sat next to him and put his hand on his shoulder while Baldi only kept sobbing. Princi knew at that moment that Baldi was the only one who survived. Princi started tearing up next to Baldi. Once Baldi calmed down a little bit, princi decided to talk to him for a while until the day passed and he had to head back home. Baldi got out of the hospital and didn't go to work for another 2 weeks. Princi understand the pain he was going through because he had gone through it too.

1 month passed and Princi started to worry even more. He went to visit Baldi at his house only to hear him crying and whimpering in his room. Princi knocked on the door and Baldi told him to go inside. Baldi had lost his hair due to all the stress he was in. But he finished it off by shaving the rest of his hair off. He only left a strand after he figured out what he had just done. Princi went over to his bed and sat on the edge. He didn't think anything different about Baldi he only saw a friend that desperately needed comfort.

From that day on Baldi and Princi became closer than ever. Princi went over to Baldis house every so often to make him food and to comfort him. Once Baldi felt a bit better he got out of his house and went back to work. All of his students were a bit shocked to see him without his hair but they knew that his personal life wasn't any of their business. Baldi was acting as if nothing had happened and he was once again the happy teacher everyone knew. But one certain student could see beyond Baldis fake smile and she came up to him one day to ask how he was feeling. He tried to pull off a small smile but all that came up was a few tears. Baldi knew that playtime was a really good student just like when he was younger and he knew that he could trust playtime. And also because he was the Principal's daughter. Baldi told Playtime everything that had been going on. And even he started treating playtime like his own daughter. Princi walked into their conversation and he sat next to them while they talked and Prince was also talking about how he was going to Baldi’s house while Playtime was at her friends house or at her daycare. Playtime was sad about how baldi was feeling and she wanted to make something for him. She drew him a picture of Her dad and him holding playtimes hands. She gave the drawing to baldi and after a long time he actually showed a real smile and started tearing up. Happy tears started rolling down his face and he hugged Playtime. He started smiling more often after that. Princi continued to comfort baldi whenever he needed it.

About 1 year passed and Baldi felt happy again. He was starting to feel a bit awkward around the principal but he didn't really figure out why. He noticed that Princi was also acting a bit more weird around him. He waved at Baldi everytime he passed by him. He gave him a sweet smile and some blush showed up on his face every time he did that. Baldi was noticing and he started to feel his face getting warm whenever Princi waved at him like that. But he knew that Princi didn't like him. Or that's what he thought.

They started hanging out a bit more and one time princi even asked Baldi to go with him to watch playtimes soccer game. Baldi obviously said yes and he ended up going with playtimes team color painted on his cheeks. He sat next to the principal and once princi saw him, a shade of red filled his face. Baldi giggled at him and he went on cheering for his favorite student, Playtime.

After her game Princi took Baldi to the corner of the school and looked at him in the eye. He told Baldi that he was glad he came to Playtimes game and that he was happy that he chose to hang out with him. Baldi couldn't help but blush and smile. He thanked Princi for the good times they had and he was about to head back to his car. But Princi quickly grabbed his shirt and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. He apologized for the kiss while having a small smirk on his face. He left Baldi there while he went back with his daughter. Baldi just spaced out while putting his hand on his cheek. Princi glanced back and gave him a smile which only made Baldi blush even more. Princi got into his car with his daughter in the back seat and took off.

Baldi snapped out of the moment and got to his own car. He went back home and he just couldn't get the thought out of his head “Does he..have a crush on me? No! He cant..he isn't like that..or..is he? Ugh! Why do I feel like this?!” He cooked himself some dinner and went to bed.

lmaooooo yeah that actually used to be cara’s side of the bed and i can’t believe no one ever said anything sjdskj mikaela definitely wants to class up the room a bit, but there’s kinda no point when they’re probably going to move soon anyway (this house was supposed to be a temporary thing anyway, but neither of them had the money to leave until now – especially because mikaela would have to start paying for daycare if she moved out on her own before she started dating danny) and omg yeah my great grandma grew up in kentucky, and whenever she would say “bless your heart” to someone, i was always like

i feel like every once in a while i want to make a whole rant here just for the good ol times. plus i think everyone across the world is most likely asleep or busy and i kind of like being in between that time. 

ive been meaning to rant but i feel like i dont have any right to really complain about anything really. i dont have it that bad. i have a wonderful husband. three cats. i have food and a roof (lol while it lasts). idk i feel like my complains are very minor. 

but tbh i dont really have any friends and any friends that i did/do have i kind of dont. i use the term friend... very lightly too. theyre.. people. idk i just... kind of destroy friendships and/or ignore them enough that they just kind of disappear. friendships are like a plant. i kill plants and/or forget they need water. or my cat eats them. 

i went through a period when i began dating jack that i felt so enthralled with the idea of my entire life being dedicated just for him. my everything is just... for jack. everything. i dont need anyone or anything else. i know how unhealthy it was. hell, i’m still sort of like that. of  course, jack isn’t like that back. jack is a smart human being, he has healthy relationships with many people and i just happen to be his wife. i know how much he loves me, cares for me, and when i dont dig too deep into my own insecurities of him hating me, i truly believe that we are equal in how much we care for each other.

lol when i dig though, thats another psychotic story im gonna tuck for a later cry 

i think it was last year when i got the smallest taste of a world outside of just jack. my volunteering position in the animal shelter i volunteered at escalated to assistant, and within that role, i held a lot more power than just a volunteer. i was in charge of adoptions and that... to me was power. and i loved it. i loved staying there all day writing notes into the computer, talking to people, showing them dogs. and my god, i knew i did an amazing job. i know i do. i know that i am confident, capable, and dedicated. i know. 

and for the first time, i really meant when i said, “i am good at this”. i never ever believed that... ever. I have hobbies and shit like drawing, but i never considered myself good. but i know with all my soul i was good at this. and this is the point where i discovered that this is what i wanted. i had found a bridge outside of my world dedicated to jack. and jack was happy for me. and i was unsure. but excited. 

dropped out of school, focused on working at a doggy daycare with the simple dream of one day having an actual job at the animal shelter i work at. there isnt a high turnover obviously. i told everyone. everyone. everyone. and finally... a job application. i was interviewed. 

i was a perfect candidate. my life has been a dedication and exploration of my love for animals. 

i didn’t get the job. 

i had gotten rejected many many many times. many times. 

but this is the only time where it hurt with every ounce of my being. i sobbed my eyes out. 

the only reason i didn’t get hired... was that i couldn’t drive. 

i could hear my dad laughing in the background. 

that was the only thing and i knew how important it was, but i was more than willing to learn and get a car and figure it out. i would take ubers and friends and whatever to get me to  where i need to be.  i thought that my own desperation and commitment would get me by. 

i had no money, no car, no one to teach me, but god in my heart i wanted this more than anyone. and the girl who got it... all i needed was to see who it was for my whole spirit to shatter. i didn’t know her that well, i had spoken to her a fair amount of times. i knew she had dogs, she was a foster, she worked with animals. she was radiant, a light, a beautiful girl. her entire life she knew this was for her. she hadn’t taken the courses in animal care i had, but she was ready to learn and most of all... she had a license. 

it shattered me. everyday it shatters me.

and i could get another job. 

i could. but what else is there in this city? someone tell me, anyone. I had asked everyone around me, what else? What else? Please someone GUIDE ME. 

 I have no job because I can’t legally have one due to my visa not having arrived yet. The job waiting for me is a casual job at a doggy daycare. I live in a small city where the jobs are scarce and the only thing that could possibly POSSIBLY set me straight into the animal care business would be studying. i can’t get a car to get any other possible job. hell, i can’t even afford the fee of the drivers license test. 

But I’m a girl without a job and with a dad who will be disowning her at the end of this year.  Who’s only revenue comes from her amazing husband who breaks his back working casual hours and studying. I can’t even think about studying when I don’t even have the money to pay my rent. We are so... so close to getting evicted. Inches away. 

I could get any other job, I could. And I will. But i know that if I want to stay in this city and be happy, that that is literally.. the one and only job I want and probably won’t ever get. 

 I could move. I could. But what about my cats? What about everything we have here?  I could sell everything, our TV, or couch, our kitchenware, and just go. Take the three cats, and go somewhere else in this country. But no matter where it would be, I would still be... like this. In this spot right now, in a bed, typing something that doesn’t matter because the only solution is just to have money. 

that is all. just money. i could study animal hydrotherapy if i had money. i could pay my bills on time or even buy a house if i had money. i could take driving lessons if i had money. 

i want to have faith. i want to believe in god. i want to believe that there is a reason why all this is happening. that there is a reason why this entire year so far has been so so hard. that there is a reason why this month has been so hard. 

i know its my fault. its my fault i am scared of driving. its my fault i never got my license. its my fault i don’t try hard enough to keep friendships. its my fault. but why.

why does my dad have to come to this country in the worst of times? is it to mock me? is it to show me that he is the man with all the money who could change our lives but chooses not to? 

why did a dog have to die on jacks arms? why did it have to happen? why did this have to happen at our daycare and change everything for everyone forever? 

please tell me what to do. please god, just give me ... a sign. Any sign. i love this city so much i just want to stay here and work here at a job that i love and be with my husband. i just want to work and earn a living and be happy. 

it pisses me off that i was so close... so close to feeling like i amounted to something more than just jack’s wife. 

before i met jack my life amounted to nothing. which it was so easy to give it up. so easy to call it quits and go die somewhere. my life now amounts to being jack’s wife. i dont have the option anymore to die. i can cut myself over and over but i know ill never take the plunge anymore because i cant. 

 i find it funny that when i say i dont want to die to doctors, they sound so relieved. i want to disappear. i want to disappear just for a while and wait until the world fixes whatever i cant fix. 

but i know that the world doesn’t give a shit. god doesnt give a shit. 

i found a glimpse of something else. i found a little crack that showed me that i didn’t have to be just jack’s wife. i didn’t have to dedicate my entire being to him. i always felt like jack’s knight. he is the person i will die for. i will protect. and i still am his knight. but i never felt worthy enough to be a ruler next to him. 

and i thought that if i could also show him that i can be something great too like he is, if i could show him that my life can also amount to doing other things besides being by his side, that i could prove to him... and myself, that my own life has meaning. 

i dont really know anymore. 

there is nothing i can do but wait. i can just wait until my interim visa is over and my visa arrives. i can wait for that moment. but what then, what will i do then?

i really dont see a path anymore in front of me. i dont see anything at all

Sam was nervous as we walked down the hall. I finally just grabbed her hand and pulled her close. I had recruited Four to help me move her stuff out of the apartment she shared with a girl named Natalia.

Natalia looked slightly relieved to see us moving Sam's things out. Her biggest mistake was the piece of paper she slipped me with her number saying call me when you get bored with her. Tacky bitch who was never on my level to begin with.

"Sam, sweetheart you're fine. I've got you, I promise." She slowed down looking like a helpless child.

She held my hand tighter and wrapped her arm in a vice lock around my waist. I took my time with her and didn't push. Dr. Marx gave me plenty of instruction and his personal number as we left the infirmary.

I knew this wouldn't be easy for her. But she needed this. We needed this. As people started to stare she hid her face in my side. I gave a hard glare to everyone who wanted to gawk at us.

"Can we eat at home?" She whispered.

The dining hall could be cruel and unforgiving with the chatter and stares.

"Sure sweetheart. I'll gave Four bring us up some trays." She sighed in relief

"You know I won't tolerate bullshit right? We won't be able to eat at home forever," I pulled her face to look at me.

"I know. But maybe just for a day or two?" She whispered.

"Sam we can eat at home for a week if you want. I just don't want you to be afraid."

"Thank you Eric. I... I just need sometime is all."

"I know. It's fine."

When we entered the apartment and I showed her her room, she cried. Sam was a very emotional creature I would find out quickly. I made sure meds where taken right away and the schedule posted.

When Four arrived with dinner I invited him to stay. I wanted her to get use to other men. I couldn't always be around. She curled up tight to my side. Of course it wouldn't happen over night.

"Sam? Is it ok if I take off my shirt to show you my back?" Four asked quietly.

"Why?" She asked making a funny face.

"Just, may I," he asked blowing an irritated sigh threw his nose.

"Sure. I guess," she asked holding my arm tighter.

I knew what Tobias was doing. Definitely some Erudite hiding inside him. When he removed his shirt and turned around, you could see the welts threw his tattoo. Sam drew in a ragged breath.

"Who, who did that to you?" She asked with tears in her eyes.

"My father," he answered pulling his shirt back on.

"He's a bad man? Like my father and Jordan," I felt her slight tremble.

"He is. So I know what it can be like. I would never hurt you. I promise."

Sam shuttered, then gulped. Nodding her head she gave a watery smile.

"It might take sometime. But we'll get there. We will be good friends yeah?" The tears finally started to drip down her face.

I reached out and wiped them away kissing her forehead. Tobias nodded his head and gave her a lopsided smile.

"Yeah. We will. If and when you need anything, anything at all, I have your back.

"Thank you" I mouthed to him. He just nodded and stood to leave.

"It's late. I'll let you guys get settled in for the night."

"Thank you Four. That was courageous of you. I know its not easy. It hurts." Sam sighed as I stood to walk him out.

"It does. Your welcome Sam. Eric, goodnight."

As I walked him out I thanked him again as well. I never thought I would see the day there would be a friendship between us.

We sat on the couch curled up reading on opposite ends of the couch. Slowly I noticed Sam's eyes start to blink as she started to drift off.

After her eyes finally fluttered closed the last time I picked her up and carried to her room. After lieing her down I turned to leave before I felt her hand grab mine.

"Eric. Stay with me, please?" She asked in a sleepy, yet nervous voice.

"Are you sure?" Admittedly I wanted to curl up next to her, I just didn't want to push it.

"Yes," she moved over by the wall.

I stripped down to my boxer and crawled into bed next to her. I put my arms around her and she relaxed into my chest. Her hair smelled like jasmine. I could get use to this

The next few days where getting in routine. Dropping Sam off at therapy by eight and picking her up by five or six. It took some adjustments to my schedule but, it was a work in progress. On Thursday, we had a date, at the Dauntless daycare center.

"Eric? Why are we at the daycare?" Sam smiled looking around.

"I want you to meet someone," I smiled nervously.

This would my first time officially meeting Adam. My son. My son, MY SON. It felt surreal. I held Sam's hand tightly as we walked towards the boisterous little tow head who clearly ran the place with his little pinky.

When we got close, I called his name and waved him over.

"Hey Adam. My name is Eric and this is Sam. How are you?" He smiled.

"Hi Erwick, Sham. I'm good. Tuhday is cookie day. So it's a guhd day," he smiled missing a front tooth.

It melted my heart.

"Erwick? Are you a leeedur?"he put his hands behind his back rocking back and forth.

"I am buddy. Would you like to be a leader someday?" This was so hard. I just wanted to hug him.

"Nuhuh. I wanna, I wanna be a dottor. Take cawuh people," he smiled brightly.

My son of course would probably Erudite. Great.

"Adam what's your favorite color." Sam asked with her beautiful smile.

"Buhlew and purppil." Yup, Erudite

"Eric? What the hell are you doing here," Dara asked in a hiss.

I was quiet and calculated. I made my appearance. She know knew I was coming. I would have my son and she would pay.

"Sam and I were just meeting Adam. By the way here is the injunction banning you from removing Adam from the Dauntless compound until further notice. Also Saturdays are my allotted visitation days until the custody hearing." I smiled coldly.

Dara swallowed hard.

"When? How? You were never supposed too-"

"Save it Dara. Adam, Sam and I will see you Saturday alright buddy." Man it felt good.

"Ohtay Ewrick. Bye Sham," he smiled waving.

"Eric you won't-"

"What Dara? I won't what," I asked deadly calm taking a step towards her.

Sam grabbed my hand and pulled me back towards her. When I looked in her eyes they said patients.

"See you Saturday. Oh and by the way, you officially have guards watching you for Adam's safety. Don't mess with me Dara." I snarled out.

Adam looked at me and cocked his head. He came over and stuck his little hand out. He waited for me to shake his hand.

"Adam. You are a very propper gentleman. I will see you Saturday and look forward to getting to know you." I smiled a real smile since Sam falling literally into my life.

"Ohtay Erwick. I wike it. Buhbye to you too Sham," he had the bluest eyes.

"Bye Adam. I cant wait," Sam smiled.

I eyed Dara like a viper as we backed up and left the daycare. I had two people now that mattered. Worth fighting for and keeping safe. I for the first time held Sam's hand tightly. I needed her more than she knew right now.

"You just met your son for the first time. You brought me with you? I'm honored," Sam's eyes glistening as she spoke

"Nobody else I would have dreamed of taking. He will be becoming a permanent fixture in my life. Can you handle that sweetheart?" Her answer made me nervous.

"With you, I think anything is possible Eric." My heart strings tugged again.

"Good. Dinner, at an actual restaurant? To celebrate?" I held my breath.

"What the hell would I wear?" She giggled.

"I've got a card full of points. Shopping?" What the fuck was wrong with me? This wasn't me. But I would enjoy it for tonight.

Tomorrow's field trip on my own to Candor would not be pretty.

"If you insist," Sam looked at me with bright eyes.

Change is in the air. Good, bad or indifferent. I was going to bring both of our lives full circle. I was also going to find out what is beyond the wall.....

what about the very first time irina gets injured (not seriously!! but to the extent where she is howling and viktor and yuuri both cant??? do anything?? oh god please stop crying baby) maybe she ends up in hospital and she is finally sleeping in the huge hospital bed after falling asleep squeezing viktor's hand and with yuuri cuddling up with her stroking her hair pressing his face into it kissing her head reassuring himself she's fine but when he meets viktors eye they both just crumple ;_;

oh my God anon okay so like when I was little I followed my mom into the bathroom and she didn’t realize it and she accidentally closed the door on my finger and like it wasn’t broken or anything and I didn’t blame her because honestly I was kind of Jazzed because I Felt Important when they X-ray’d my hand and I was a gross gremlin child so I thought it was cool that my fingernail turned black but like looking back I can tell how guilty she was about the whole thing and like what IF

What if it’s something like that only more serious like Irina’s poor little foot. Like it’s early in the morning and Irina is following Yuuri around and rubbing her eyes with her little sippy cup and Yuuri is four months pregnant with Mikhail so he’s got some serious Pregnancy Brain going on and he doesn’t notice Irina following behind him until he walks into the closet and slides the partition closed behind him to get dressed and hears the worst most ear-splitting scream he has ever heard.

Now I’m not a mother but I am a daycare teacher. I hear babies scream on a regular basis and I can tell the difference between ‘screaming for attention’ and ‘screaming that can wait for a minute’ and ‘HELP ME HELP ME NOW HELP ME.” I also maintain that there is something instinctive in every mammal that knows what the scream of their baby sounds like and gets an immediate and horrible rush of adrenaline from it.

This is definitely screaming of the HELP ME HELP ME NOW DADDY HELP ME variety, and Yuuri immediately slams the door back open. Viktor flies into the bedroom, feet practically not touching the ground–he’ll later realize that he has absolutely no memory of what happened between Irina screaming and him suddenly holding her in his arms, frantically searching her body for injury, but from physical evidence he’ll gather than he dropped the coffee carafe at some point, shattering it–and it’s a mess of both of them demanding, “What? WHAT???” while Irina screams and screams.

Eventually, Irina finds the word FOOT in one of her languages and neither of them know which one it is but they don’t have to. 

“Oh, oh, oh,” Yuuri takes her itty bitty foot tenderly by the ankle. “Oh, Viktor, oh God. Oh God, it’s swelling. Oh my God, Viktor, I closed her foot in the door. Oh my God.”

Both of them know what a broken foot looks like–they’ve been skating too long not to. The telltale trail of bruising along the outer side of Irina’s foot is already forming, and she squeals with every accidental twitch of Yuuri’s shaking fingers.

“Shit,” Viktor hisses. “Oh, shit. Oh, fuck. Okay. Okay. It’s–Irina, sweetheart, please, please. You’ll be okay. Shh, it’s okay, I’ll–” he rises to go to the nightstand, pulls out his keys and tugs last night’s shirt on over his head. “Okay, let’s–do you–who should drive?”

“You.” Yuuri picks her up, trying desperately not to jostle her foot. She screams anyway and Yuuri feels it go straight through his heart and into the pit of his stomach. He squeezes his eyes shut for a moment, pushing back tears of his own. “You drive faster.”

“You shouldn’t–”

“Let me carry her,” Yuuri snaps. “I don’t care if it screws up my back, I don’t.”

Viktor lets him carry her down to the car and hold her as he drives, but when he tries to get out of the car with her Viktor stops him.

“You can’t jeopardize the safety of our son because you hurt our daughter,” Viktor tells him.

Yuuri knows that they’re both stressed and that Viktor probably didn’t mean it that way–and that he’s right, Yuuri has both a family and personal history of bad pregnancies. Yuuri thinks about his own problems pre-Irina and his mother’s miscarriages between himself and Mari, thinks about the baby in his arms and the baby inside him, and feels so very acutely helpless for a moment that he feels like he’s falling into an endless pit.

Viktor comes around and takes Irina from Yuuri, waits for him to get out and give the key to the valet before they’re all but running into the emergency room. 

Irina has quieted from wails to whimpers, but the man behind the check-in desk for the emergency room is obviously alarmed when he sees a pair of obviously-distressed parents speeding towards him with a crying two-year-old. He doesn’t even ask them what’s happened before he presses the button to open the ER doors.

“What happened?” asks the triage nurse, already putting Irina on a bed. Irina, scared, picks up her wailing again. 

“She was, um–” Yuuri runs a hand through his hair. “She was following me and I–I didn’t notice, and I closed the closet door–and it slides–and she–I must have caught her foot–I–oh God, I didn’t–I didn’t mean to, oh my God, I–”

The nurse, noticing Yuuri’s mode of panic and the telltale roundness of his belly, says, “Alright. Alright, sir, why don’t you calm down. I need you to calm down. Is he pregnant?” she directs this much towards Viktor.

“Yeah,” Viktor nods. “About four months. And he has anxiety issues–”

“I’m fine,” Yuuri snaps, voice shaking. “I don’t need you–patronizing–”

“Alright, alright.” The nurse carefully sets Irina’s foot down on the bed. “Everyone just needs to stay calm. What’s your name, sweetheart?”

Irina hiccups. 

“Go on, bunny,” Viktor murmurs. “Tell her your name.”

Irina eventually whispers her name into her own shoulder, sniffling.

“Oh, Irina. What a lovely name. Are you an Ira or an Irinka?”

“She’s an Irishka,” Viktor murmurs, tucking her hair behind her ear.

“Well, Irishka, you’re going to be just fine. Okay? We’ve just got to take a couple pictures of your foot to see what’s going on inside of it, and then we’ll patch you all up and send you home. Alright?”

Irina nods, red-rimmed eyes turned down.

“Alright. I’ll be back with something to make you feel a little better.”

Irina, likely due to a combination of the baby aspirin and the stress of the day, falls asleep as soon as they get her settled. Yuuri strokes her hair until she falls asleep, laying on his side next to her with his head propped so he can watch the fluttering and eventual closing of her eyelids. When she’s finally asleep, he braves eye contact with his husband for the first time in several hours.

His eyes immediately fill with tears.

“I’m so sorry,” Yuuri whispers. “God, Vitya, I’m–I’m so sorry.”

Viktor swallows, eyes going very soft in the way they do before he cries.

“It’s not your fault,” Viktor murmurs.
