i fired up civ 5 recently bc i wanted to see how it compared to my memory of it, and if anything it's actually much, much worse.

one unit per tile just... does not work with the idiom of the civilization series! units are not like armies in a GSG, they're like units in an RTS game: grist for the meatgrinder. you build them and throw them at your enemy and if they lose combat, they die. they don't retreat and recover morale, you don't get a chance to reposition and try again, they just go poof. but now in addition to that, you can only fit one unit of a type on a given tile, which means combat is forcibly spread out over a huge space. it's slow, slowed down further by the fact that it now takes a couple turns to fully resolve a fight--i guess the idea is that you can have your injured units fall back, except because of the way units get blocked in now, no you can't!--but you still need tons of units to take cities.

which means they didn't get rid of doomstacks. doomstacks are still logistically necessary to win wars! they just made them really fucking annoying to move around the map.

and on top of that, because OUPT applies to all units, it means you are also constantly having your scouts and workers and other civilian units being blocked in by your own units of the same type, or other players' units of the same type, meaning if you sign an open borders treaty with the AI you are frequently signing up to having your own units' movement being jammed up in the worst way by computer players. and on top of all THAT the units cancel their movement orders if the destination tile is blocked, even if the destination tile is on the other side of the map and you can't see it--which means, basically, any long-distance movement order is liable to be randomly canceled if an AI unit ends its turn on your destination tile.

it feels janky at every single level. the worst possible fix to something that wasn't even really a problem--and if they really wanted to they could have implemented some kind of very basic attrition mechanic. or some other kind of soft cap.

and and and on top of all that, it makes roads and railroads substantially less useful, bc frequently you cannot actually fit all your guys on one road or railroad--but you can't just carpet your territory in roads now like you used to do, because roads cost maintenance per turn. just. ugh. fractally bad decisionmaking! like different people were working at different ends of the design doc and not communicating at all!

the global happiness system means expansion is soft capped early in the game, which makes it feel less like an empire management game than a game of managing four to five cities. since very many units are now hard capped by resource availability now, and expansion is limited, AFAICT in most normal games this means you get like.. two swordsmen? ever? mainly it's strong attack units that are capped in this way, but their defensive counters are uncapped, which means actually playing strategically with your army composition is more annoyance than it's worth. in practice, what this incentives is just building the best trash unit you can afford en masse and throwing them at the enemy, but, of course, see the problems with OUPT.

they took out civics and replaced them with Social Policy trees. but everybody has the same set of social policy trees. and there's a bit of a tradeoff here in which trees you choose to fill out first, but you never then switch those old trees out for new ones like civics. they're just permanent bonuses. so there's no sense of, like, choosing your government type.

and then in BNW i guess they realized people missed that, and created Ideologies, which are just a bonus extra-big social policy tree where you get to pick between liberal democracy, communism, and fascism. but of course there's only three. and this isn't unlocked until the late game.

what they really should have done is added more civics and rather than just having you progress from early game civics to late game civics made all civics contextually useful. and maybe given you some extra civics that were unlocked early in the game so you could strategize around them.

as a part of this change culture is now more load-bearing, but cultural victory is just... weird and stupidly complicated. you have to build tourism, and do archeology, and build wonders that provide slots for great works that your three different kinds of great artist create, and all this other crap. versus domination, where you just conquer the other guys. or science, where you just build your spaceship. it's dumb and bad and awkward.

there's no conquest victory now. only domination. but because of the way domination works, it's now not possible to move your capital manually. this is awful and i hate it! let me move my capital, damn it!

buildings no longer go obsolete, which means that if i am founding a city in the year 1973, i still need to build a City Walls in it before i can build a Military Base. this feels ridiculous. and the series already kinda has this problem where it feels like late game it takes forever to get a city really up and running--don't make it even worse by making me build shit from classical antiquity before i can build modern facilities!

the AI is not very bright. they don't expand very much. on big maps, most of the map will remain empty most of the game, at least up through mid-level difficulties i usually play at (that are supposed to be "standard", so I assume the game is balanced around them)

diplomacy is irritatingly primitive. there are few ongoing agreements. declarations of friendship all last a fixed amount of time. the AI is constantly interrupting you to tell you it doesn't like you or it does like you or you and another AI player all like each other. just expose an opinion modifier and be done with it! harun al-rashid and i don't need to pass notes like it's grade school!

they nerfed the range of air units and especially nukes. which feels really weird. the 20th century saw the invention of strategic bombers that had a range of thousands of miles. why can mine only reach cities right next to my own? why do my nuclear missiles have a pathetic range? sure, sub-launched nukes are a thing, but they're only one part of a proper nuclear triad. there's no MAD anymore!

especially because the world congress can order you to stop building nukes and there's nothing you can do about it. you can't defy world congress bans and suffer a penalty. international law has some kind of magical force that even if you are the undisputed hegemon you cannot help but obey. this is very stupid! especially because they could not think of anything interesting for the world congress to do, so it's all shit like banning random luxury goods.

all the stuff i do like--the city-states, the hex grid, the core idea of the trade route system--is swallowed by annoying bullshit. to take the trade route example: you can make money by setting up trade routes. it can be quite lucrative! and you have to protect your trade routes from bandits and shit. but the menu for issuing trade route orders is a mess--way too much scrolling, you can't sort by lucrativeness of destinations, you have to constantly re-issue trade route orders, and the last trade route a unit was on isn't highlighted, or sorted to the top or anything like that. so it's lots of scrolling around, it's very annoying, and it's repetitive as hell.

the real stick in the eye is that this game was not only reviewed well, it was reviewed glowingly when it came out. which is bizarre to me! yes, it looks nice. the art is good and the music is pretty. but it feels awful to play! it is on almost every single metric less fun than civ 4! civ 3 is more fun, and civ 3 was terrible. i hope to god firaxis was bribing people left and right for good reviews because the only alternative explanation i can think of is that everybody who was reviewing strategy games in 2010 was also in the grip of a brutal glue-sniffing habit.

Thinking about fucked up angst bw Harry and Jean. Headcanons for my au, warning for suicidal thoughts and the like

Anyways they were roommates and their old roommates kicked them out bc they were just way too much so they moved into a super tiny horrible apartment bc it was all they could afford bc Harry refuses to take bribes and he's busy doing his job instead of being a good corrupt cop like the rest of them. So he and Jean are sharing this super small one room apartment with only a gas stove in the corner as a kitchen and inevitably Jean reaches his limit with Harry and can't stand him anymore so he moves out and gets his own apartment and Harry can't handle it

Harry gets all aggressive and upset and fucked up over it and all the 'of course you'd leave, everyone always leaves me'

He tries killing himself one time and it doesn't work and he just starts to get worse and deeper in the hell and completely relapses

And then he just blows Jean off entirely like I don't need you I don't need anyone I'm god fuck you fuck you fuck you

And Jean has massive guilt and super upset about it bc he feels it's his fault for ditching Harry and causing him to spiral this hard but he's done with his bullshit he's had enough he's not going to deal with him anymore

And then Harry goes to Martinaise without Jean and he gets so fucking upset like he tries to get rid of the ledger and tries to quit and tries to kill himself with the car trying to drive himself into the sea

Harry's supposed to have died multiple times. With one time when he got shot, with the hanging, with the car crash, with the amnesia, with the time he gets shot with Kim, with the alcohol poisoning being so severe, but he just doesn't die

Bc basically Jean and Harry go from being REALLY close and fraternal and like I'll take care of you you'll take of me etc. having both survived horrendous traumatic shit together. To just this huge rift in their relationship bc Harry just cannot for the life of him get better. He cannot unstick himself out of his rut. He just wants to keep tearing himself apart

And Jean feels hugely guilty for leaving him behind but also he just can't stand him anymore AND ALSO it's a form of self harm that he destroy this relationship further, that he completely blow Harry off. Because he knows in his heart of hearts that the closeness and brotherhood they shared before was too good to be true. That he (Jean) will NEVER have anyone who understands him on that level again AND THAT even more so he does not and never will deserve closeness like that

ill answer this publicly just in case anyone also sees my Cry Posts and wonders why i make them so often:

im disabled and cant work, but the process to get on disability takes for fucking ever. my dad is on ssdi and gets a little over 1200 a month to live off. 700 of that goes to rent, the rest to bills. we don't even have cable tv or anything like that cause we simply cannot afford it. it used to not be so bad when i was 18 and under because the state gave me 500 a month but im 27, its not been like that for a long time now, and they dont give me anything. nothing for foodshare. i'm on a thing called FA but they pay me 180 dollars every two weeks. thats 360 a month which is fucking nothing.

i have a disorder called POTS, its one of my biggest physical problems (along with GERD, RLS, and neuropathic pain in my shoulders, legs, and hips; i think i have sciatica. i think i probably also have IBS or some kind of internal stomach and digestive issue), and its very difficult to treat. afaik there are no surgeries or medication you can really do to treat it. its something that can happen to anyone and usually "triggers" from another illness, in my case i got an ear infection after my dad got an ear infection. i was 16 and then my life completely changed lmao.

you would think having this somewhat rare autoimmune disorder would make it easier to get on disability but nope. for years they would not let me apply online (i dont know why) and we have no vehicle so i couldnt get down to the office to apply. finally this year it let me apply online, but that was in june and i still havent heard anything back. now that they have my info on record it wont be as hard to re-apply but its still going to take a while bc only recently did a specialist who handles POTS move to my area. before the nearest specialist was 3 hours away and im not joking

but anyway. its the cost of living paired with our extremely low income. we get 200 dollars a month for two people for food, so 100 for me and 100 for my dad, which is not enough in the current climate to survive in.

ive contacted food pantries and sought out opportunities that could help both me and my dad but most places require transportation of some sort and we don't have a car. it broke down where fixing it would cost too much so we had no choice but to get rid of it.

so basically what i usually end up needing help with is food. groceries cost so much money and we still dont have enough to eat by the end of the month. the price of groceries has gone up dramatically where the amount of income my dad and i get hasnt gone up at all

So I just smoked a cigarette it's 9:20 a.m. I pooped a healthy poop. I pooped before but it was probably a 7 on the Bristol stool chart... maybe a 6 but I think it was a 7.. it was hard to tell BECAUSE MY MOTHER MADE ME SHIT IN A BAG IN THE KITCHEN AGAIN. I LOOKED AT IT AS BEST AS I COULD. I am pretty sure it was a 7..... but yea I'm thinking my body is a bit on strike.

It wants to poop without cigarettes... it's capable of it. I mean my first poop was trigger by caffeine.... but I knew I needed to more and as the anxiety got bad and then the withdrawal was starting up... I decided I might as well...

I'm going to do a lozenger around 4 p.m assuming i can make it that long and then do a cigarette at 9 p.m before bed. I guess I can afford 2 cigarettes a day in ct... it'll be about 45$ a month if I use them to shit.

Being i had a 5 on a Bristol stool chart with this cigarette i cannot be constipated... I don't want to spend 45$ a month to shit but I mean.... if I got to i got to. I'm hoping my body will start shitting without cigarettes more regularly. My body knows I'm mad at it but happy with it at the same time. I'm mad that it didn't do this without a cigarette but I'm happy that it pooped at all with just caffeine.

Let's say tomorrow I can do a healthy poop without a cigarette and the withdrawal kicks in I'll do a lozenger tomorrow morning... I'm really trying... I can't really afford 45$ a month... if I can get down to 2 cigarettes a day one at night and one in the morning for poop it will be 45$ a month... in ct...

I'm on strike for new Hampshire. What if i go spend all that money and my body learns how to use caffeine as a stimulate and then I got 2 cartons or even 2 1/2 and I quit. I can't sell them. I cant return them... and I mean I can't afford the bill to begin with.

It's annoying that constipation is a symptom of withdrawal... but yea I noticed that when I was smoking, when i needed to go was indisputable. It was shit in a bag, shit in your pants or find a toilet, its time the train is here and it's happening no matter what...

Now poop feels like a fart... and I've been farting a lot more since yesterday.. prob bc I am constipated a little... or maybe it's the cheese it's... I'm trying to save money on food so I bought some normal food for my nightly snack... cause I deserve to live...

I also noticed when I went to my dad's for the tree I ate like 15 pieces of cheese and I mean the next day I had Dihherea sorta.. I think since I cut out excessive cheese my poops have been more healthy.... funny enough.. I know I'm a little lactose.... I can't drink milk at all...... it's a disaster... but cheese never caused what drinking milk causes me...........

Also cheese has a lot of chlorestoral... so cutting it out as my nightly snack has made a difference. I've been trying to portion control my cheese it's consumption. No one knows how hard it is to count cheese its..... I mean if I get a bowl and fill it with cheese it and count them it'll work but eating them out of a bag is hard.. so portions have not been controlled...

So yea I mean i guess until tomorrow I'm okay bc I had one healthy shit. But I'm still worried and I'm thinking I'm going to be dependent on one cigarette in the morning bare minimum to make sure I never get backed up.

So, I'm the anon who sent that long ask about the void. And your answer made me realise a lot of things. So I decided to find out what my inner, core beliefs are and what my belief system is like. I realised I hadn't at all been acknowledging my old story and I couldn't change it or let go of it without finding out what it was.

So I talked to myself, and I wrote it all down, and it was. Depressing. I didn't realise how many deep-rooted, awful beliefs I had about myself and my life. Obviously those were the things that would keep on playing out regardless of whether or not I forced myself to not acknowledge it. Because those were the things that I actually, really believed deep down inside.

I've realised that two of my biggest problems are lack of self worth and anxiety. And I can kind of see where they came from. Not fully, I still need to do that work and unpack that so I can start to understand it, but kind of. My problem now is that these two problems are very deep-rooted and I am not sure at all that I'll be able to effectively fix those problems and heal myself. These sound like problems you'll need long, intensive therapy to fix. And I got really overwhelmed and upset thinking about that, so I started to wonder, can I manifest confidence, getting rid of my anxiety, and better mental health? All things are possible, right? So I should be able to do that. I've seen a few success stories about people manifesting better mental health for themselves, and I want to do that too.

But I don't want to fall into the trap of lying to myself all over again. I know that I need to change my beliefs but I have no idea where to begin.

Any advice? How can I manifest better mental health without making the same mistake again?

hmmmm to be real with you, when something was deep and painly engraved, i had to work through it. while knowing that this wasn’t my end, it wasn’t my story. just something i had to feel out as it released. so i guess that’s my only advice to you.

don’t neglect yourself because of your manifestation — as in, all because you’ve manifested better mental health, it does not mean that you cannot feel low or cry or whatever else you may perceive negatively. do not deny yourself the journey and process, because that isn’t helpful. you think you’re doing the right thing bc “well if i have better mental health then im happy and thats final !” or smth like that. but no ! not at all. it’s really about honoring yourself in every moment and being your #1 supporter. so i think this is the way you can keep yourself from falling back into trying to force a belief that simply isn’t working — don’t judge yourself. decide on your desire and know that nothing you experience along the way is hindering you.

also, don’t label yourself so terribly. could therapy help ? absolutely. and it’s a wonderful option for many, but it’s not always affordable and accessible. don’t look at what’s within you as a terrible hurdle to overcome — take it day by day. it was never stopping you, you stopped you. and this releasing process allows you that freedom that you couldn’t see was always available to you through the darkness that lingered. so breathe. this isn’t about fixing yourself — it’s really about accepting and loving yourself unconditionally more. and you realize your limitations were only limits because you saw them that way and now you get to change the narrative. that’s all it is. don’t let yourself see this as a chore. full honesty (even when it’s ugly) with yourself is the way.

also here’s this post again bc it really gives you the process from start to finish. do you need to follow this perfectly ? absolutely not. you have to be willing to play around and find your own way that really speaks to you. but this is a great outline to begin with.

this is a vent mostly, but if you do read this and have anything you think of what I wrote, please feel free to message me in any way and i’d love to talk to someone who knows what I’m feeling. it doesn’t even need to be advice, but mutual venting and discussion is welcome.

I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read through any of this.

My whole life has been spent knowing that I very likely have OCD. Some of the earliest memories I have is relating to the anxiety I had over certain rituals, and my parents’ responses over them. At the age of 8, I used hand sanitizer in such excess in class because I constantly felt like I needed to clean them. I’d find any reason I could to go to the teacher’s desk to get hand sanitizer. I knew it wasn’t normal to use it so much, but the urge was so strong and I got nervous if I couldn’t do it. It wasn’t just hand sanitizer, but it was washing too. Constant washing and sanitizing isn’t good for your skin, especially in winter. My hands would crack and bleed, and it hurt a lot but I could not stop. Before lunch, my teachers are would have us line up to use hand sanitizer before lunch, but I had to be given special permission to wash my hands in the bathroom before lunch everyday. Because washing my hands normally was preferred over the alcohol in my already cracked skin. My teachers were advised to not allow me to use it too often, because it was seen as a clear issue by them.

A common issue in OCD is numbers. For me, I have specific number rules. All odd numbers are okay. I like odd numbers bc there is always a clear median number. Math was always stressful to me in a way that other subjects weren’t, and I believe it was due to the involvement of math. I enjoyed finding the median, but I much preferred doing it with odd numbers. there was always a clear median, such as with {3, 7, 11}. There is always a clear middle number, instead of needing to average. Exceptions to this rule are multiples of 10, and numbers that have a pattern repeat numbers (11/22/33). I also have to count in odd numbers of odd sets. What I mean, is when I do a ritual, I must do it an odd number of times. If I take 3 sips of water but pause, I have to do another set of odd numbers (say 5), then another odd set (say 1). I do this with everything I do. I count when I drink water, when I grab paper towels, etc. I hate this because there are so many things that I know are wasteful about this but sometimes the stress outweighs my conscious about this. Numbers feel like they ruin my life because I get stressed if I only take 2 sips of water, or if I have to pick between eating only 1 thing of food when 3 is too many instead.

Another one of my issues was my bedroom door. I do not know where this started, but it went on for as long as I can remember prior to moving out. I had to constantly make sure that my door was closed. It was sometimes as simple as just pressing it to see if it was closed. Anytime I was near the hallway to my room, i’d have to go check. If I tried to leave without it, i’d start feeling panicky and it would not subside. I could go at least an hour without shaking the panic. As the panic over it grew, so did the length of the ritual.

I started to have to open my door, close it a very specific way, and if it did not feel right, i’d have to repeat. If I repeated it 2 times, I had to do it a 3rd. I can’t do even numbers. I’d do it over and over, everytime I was in or near the hallway. I would avoid going near the hallway to avoid the inevitable stress that I would have over this.

Sensory issues in another. I smell things that no one else notices, clothes sometimes have a weird feeling of just disgust and it’s like my skin crawls when I put it on. The smell of lots of clothes has me panicking if I have to wear them, and I had anxiety attacks getting ready for school in my bedroom trying to convince myself that my uniform shirt, which was clean, was not dirty and should not feel wrong like it did. Clothes, which smell and feel perfectly fine on other people, I cannot bring myself to wear. No matter if I perfume the shirt or if it has any smell to others, it’s unbearable to me. I can’t handle certain things on my skin. Most lotions I can’t stand feeling to the point i’ll wash them off immediately. I am working on this, but it’s so hard to do. Any oily feeling on my skin makes me want to scrape my skin off to avoid the feeling.

One that causes significant impact in my life is my bed. I have had issues sleeping in my bed since I was a kid. I have sleep issues in general, and a lot of anxiety relating to sleep. I cannot sleep in my bed without having showered immediately prior. If I even just leave my room and go to the living room and sit in there, I feel revolted to get in my bed. I get nervous and can’t sleep if I try to convince myself it’s okay. I sleep on the floor frequently because I don’t always feel up to shower, and the floor is fine. I have designated blankets that I only use in my chair in my bedroom, and on my floor. My “floor blankets and pillows” are just blankets that i use exclusively when napping or sleeping on the floor, as the name suggests. It’s a known thing in my household that I have these.

There are so many others that I haven’t discussed, such as intrusive thoughts, and much more. Many involve thoughts of harming myself, and I often have thoughts of harming myself to get rid of certain triggers , which is irrational thinking but it doesn’t stop the thoughts from coming.

I feel judged so often over the things that I struggle with that are visible. I am too embarrassed to talk about these things, and I don’t want to seem like i’m faking. I have so many issues as is and I don’t want to make people think i’m doing this for attention. I want to seek treatment, and my primary doctor suggested I see a psychologist for testing and potential treatment, but it feels so daunting. I don’t want to tell anyone I want treatment, so many of my issues are internal or behind closed doors, and the ones that are obvious are written off as me just being dumb. How do I seek help, when the cost is so great? I want to feel better but I can’t avoid the treatment I need to do so.

I don’t know what to do from here. I want help, I know I need it, but I can’t afford it. I can’t afford most of my health issues, so I have to just deal with them. I can’t do anything but wait around and hope it doesn’t get worse before I finish school and can get better insurance than my parents insurance. My family does not take my issues seriously and it feels impossible to improve in any way from here.

A/N: Remember how I posted something before one of my other fics saying that I had been consistently updating for weeks? Neither do I lmao who was she? Don’t know her anyway heres the fourth chapter of this black sails fic.

Words: 1823. Honestly I’ve been writing this since about 12pm I don’t know how its so short and its probably shit bc I haven’t written anything in months.

Warnings: Mentions of vomit as per the last chapter. Think thats it lmao. See you in three months.

As your eyes opened, there were a blissful couple of seconds where the previous night’s encounter didn’t exist in your memory. But, just like the sun flooding the room, unwanted flashes of vomit and slurred words rose like a tidal wave in your minds eye. You rolled over, burying your face and groaning into the pillow out of sheer embarrassment as a dull throbbing started in the depths of your skull. 

Why did you keep drinking? You could’ve simply had one or two before retiring for the night and you wouldn’t have met that boatswain or thrown up on your own boots. What was his name again? Ben? Boyd? No, they weren’t quite right. Either way you made a mental note to apologise again whenever you next saw him. 

Slowly, you tugged your still clothed limbs from the thin sheets, trying not to jostle your stomach too much for fear of whatever was left in there making an unwelcome appearance. Your pants were scuffed from where you took a tumble outside the tavern, your shirt was half undone, probably from a failed attempt to undress before not-so-gracefully falling into bed. A single boot was thrown on the floor alongside your coat, the other still stuck on your foot. What a mess. 

A hot bath, that's what you needed, and a hearty breakfast if your insides don’t bring it back up. Pulling on the other boot, you made your way to one of the girls working downstairs, trading her coin to fill the tub in your room. You must’ve looked rough as you passed her to get to the man at the bar because when he turned to look at you, his brows shot up, disappearing behind his hair. 

“You look like you could use a little hair of the dog, love.” He chuckled, eyes scanning your disheveled form. A grimace was your immediate response. “Some food then.” He offered, filling a bowl with something that you didn’t stop to look at as you practically inhaled it. The man watched you with a knowing smirk and had you not felt so terrible you’d have spat out a snarky comment. You chose to gulp down your water instead.

“Thank you.” You huffed with a small nod, tossing some money on the counter before you headed back upstairs. The state you were in just added to this morning's growing list of regrets but you weren’t quite sure if you cared how you looked to anyone else right now. All that was on your mind was a piercing headache and a good soak.

Stripping off, you stepped into the water, sinking down slowly as your body got used to the heat. Finally, with a heavy sigh, you rested your head on the back of the tub, your aching muscles beginning to relax. Scented oils and soaps were left on a stand by the bath. Working a generous amount between your palms, you massaged your limbs and torso getting rid of any tension and purging the memories of last night’s… festivities. In the quiet of your room, you took a moment to trace the small scars that littered your form, fingers landing at last on the freshly healed knife wound from only a few weeks ago. The soft pink flesh was still tender, and if you moved the wrong way it would ache. It was dangerous to be alone on this island, in this line of work. You needed friends, not just contacts. A crew, perhaps. 

Letting your mind wander, you thought about your new found place among Flint’s men. You had to keep bringing in leads to be of any value to him, lest you risk being tossed aside and left in the dirt. He and his crew were among the most revered on the island, therefore cementing your part in that would bring security. It would ensure that other crews would leave you alone, as you were important to someone they feared and the consequences of harming you could be severe. 

Then again, there was a little more than security on your list of perks as you thought more about the taller man from last night. He was kind to you, not that the others weren’t having bought your drinks and all, but, he made sure you were safe and fed. Billy Bones. You recalled. Replaying the meeting in your head, you winced at the slurred introduction and the puking soon after. Why did you care about how he saw you? Was it because he was the crew’s boatswain or because he was handsome and softer than most pirates you’d met. 

Catching that last thought, you shook it from your head, refusing to let it take root in your brain. Attachments like that are a weakness here and you cannot afford to have those. You’d only met the guy once and he probably didn’t want anything to do with you anyway, especially after that drunken show you gave him. Cupping a handful of water, you splashed your face, scrubbing any further thoughts of the man from your head, instead, choosing to focus on finding a new lead for Flint. 

They would be leaving to chase down the details you gave him yesterday in a couple of days, if not sooner, which meant you probably had around two weeks to find something of substance upon their return. You’d struggled last time but after sending out letters to old friends in neighbouring ports, you were hopeful something would turn up. 

Padding your way to the dresser, you pulled out some fresh clothes and got ready, feeling much better than you did even an hour before. The food had settled your stomach and the water you guzzled seemed to bring some life back into your face as when you left to go hunt down some work, the barman from earlier spouted something along the lines of ‘A whole other woman’ when you walked by.

An uneventful morning led to an uneventful afternoon. There were no new letters or leads and the streets were pleasantly calm compared to usual. You certainly weren’t complaining, you had been feeling better since this morning but your body was still recovering. The easy day was probably just what you needed. You were sat on the beach, sipping some water and watching passersby as you sketched in the journal you kept.

It was something you’d taken to keeping since arriving in Nassau just over two years ago. A small leather book to help keep track of potential jobs and record anything interesting that happened. Really, though, you just loved to draw. You’d already filled a couple just like it with sketches of people, ships and landscapes that caught your eye, often accompanied by your messy scrawl. You were just about satisfied with your latest addition when Mr Gates clapped you on the shoulder making you jump and slam the journal closed. You’d never shown anyone the contents before. 

“Sorry, Miss Devereux, didn’t mean to startle you.” He began, chuckling lightly at your reaction. “I heard you and the lads had quite the night..” He moved to stand by you as you got to your feet, dusting the sand from your pants. Tucking away the book, an amused smirk finds its way to your face as you look at him. 

“Depends on who you ask.” You replied. “How were they this morning? Feeling sorry for themselves?” Your brows raised in question as you both started aimlessly wandering along the shore. A snort met your ears as his head fell forwards, looking at the ground then back at you. “I didn’t see the majority of them until at least noon and they were still in a sorry state, although I wonder how you must’ve been. I heard that you hurled your guts up right after meeting our boatswain.” Gates mused, eyes crinkling as he watched your entire face turn a lovely shade of red. You tried to keep your cool but your expression faltered into one of sheer embarrassment. Apparently, this was hilarious as Mr Gates exploded into a fit of hearty laughter, and as much as you told him to stop you couldn’t help but have a good chuckle yourself as you covered your face with a half-sandy palm at the thought.

When you both regain your composure, he gives you a reassuring pat on the back.

“Don’t worry, the only people who know are Billy and myself, the men still think you can hold your drink.” He winked. You made a move to argue that you could in fact hold your drink but he began talking about the plan to set sail the day after tomorrow. You listened intently and explained that you were awaiting correspondence from friends in other ports to supply more promising leads upon their return.

It had been four days since the crew left in search of another haul using your most recent information. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened, you’d made some money here and there through smaller jobs and pickpocketing but overall, there was nothing of real interest. You spent the days reading anything you could get your hands on or drawing and you’d even had your eye on some paints in one of the markets, but all you could do was wait. Checking for mail at the front desk of the inn you were staying at every morning had become a routine, desperate for any work or ships that you could relay to Flint. It was on the fifth day that you had gotten a response from someone in Port Royal.

As you read over the letter for the third time, you could feel your eyes widen in disbelief, your heart hammered in your chest and you released a breath you didn’t know you were holding. This was far too good to be true. Surely this was a myth. A prize of this magnitude was simply unheard of. Your eyes scanned over the paper again, barely able to focus on the words because your hands were trembling so violently. Calm down. You told yourself. It can’t be the truth. You thought as you stared at the other envelope that had arrived alongside it. At the bottom of the letter it read:

“P.S

Should you doubt my information, I sent you the correspondence shared between the dead man and the merchant with evidence pertaining to this gold. Best not ask how it came into my possession.

Your dear friend,

Josiah.”

You ran to shut the windows to your room and close the drapes. If anyone found out you had this information and the evidence to go with it, you would surely be killed for it. Tearing open the paper, you unfolded its contents. It was all here. The initials of the merchant, R.P., details alluding to the existence of this gold and the name of the dead man involved in plotting the course it would be on.

I got nothing better to do (no), so have a list of things I’d like to change or add in BH story

This list more likely isn’t going to cover everything, but I may add some things later. These will be related to plot, characters and maybe something else.

Also, these things can easily be headcanons (which they are for me), but I’d just like to see them in game (though it is not possible, i know), unlike some my other hcs for this storyline.

And remember, this is just my stupid opinion.

And definitely spoilers are ahead.

1. I’d like to have a “why did you sign up for the Great Hunt?” talk earlier, on one of starter planets.

Okay, hear me out. I know that this is the kind of thing you make up yourself rather than being given to you by game, but if we have this question asked somewhere in chapter 2 (and there’s a good chance of not getting it at all on female characters), when it’s not exactly relevant, why not to add it, idk, maybe on Dromund Kaas from Mako. Don’t tell me she wouldn’t ask. She would, and you know it. Why? Because, in my opinion, it would make winning the Great Hunt more satisfying.

2. Make rivals in chapter 1 have more importance than just being guys to kill. 

First, we’ll need to know more, or, in this case, know anything at all about our rival on Alderaan. Does anyone know who he was (without going to other sources)? Neither do I. Second, what do I mean by “have more importance”? Have you ever had a feeling that the only important or interesting parts of the Great Hunt are the beginning (mostly Tarro killing Braden and Jory), the end (killing Tarro and winning), and maybe a few lines from Mako? Because I sure had this feeling. 

But I see a potential for something more in rivals we’ll need to kill to get to the next round. They can be reflections of our character’s flaws as a bounty hunter (and it could make them think or even change their way if you’re not playing an honorable warrior from the start). Or they may represent what our BH could become if they follow an easy path of hiding behind a droid instead of proving your own strength (remember Nar Shadaa), making others do your job for you (Balmorra), or just doing things purely for money (Tatooine) (that is for more Mando-like BH). Or these rivals can be examples of how out BH can do things (if we have a very young BH who will learn some things from the Great Hunt).

In other words, make them affect the main character in a meaningful way.

3. Give more info on our main rival.

Speaking of rivals, you know what would make the ending of chapter 1 even better? Actually giving Tarro more background and characterization because, you know, he’s our main rival throughout the whole hunt, while still making us want to kill the guy without a second thought (well, this part is already here). Hell, Jun Seros, while still not having his friendship with Kelian Jarro shown, which drove him to get revenge on us, is given more characterization in less time. Yes, we do know a few things about Tarro, but is it enough to understand his character? Stories are often defined by its villains (not my saying), and it definitely is the case here. I know SWTOR is a mmorpg and cannot always afford detailed stories (especially when there are at least 8 of them), but it has potential, it’s just often not used properly. Not going to write the whole essay here, I have another thing planned for this, but I couldn’t miss it here.

4. What about Mandalore?

Ok, that’s a pretty well-known complaint, but I’m still gonna place it here. If BH chooses to join the clans, it’s a big deal. You’re not just a lone merc (with a small crew, but lone merc nonetheless), but a part of not just a gang or something, but a whole new culture. Yet we don’t get enough of this culture actually affecting BH life. Who knows, maybe being a Mando not having a noticeable impact on Champion’s life is the point, but I really don’t think so.

5. Have more time between being put to Republic’s most wanted list and agreeing to see Tormen.

Oh, this is a heavily personal headcanon, but I have reasons. Was anyone bothered by how quickly Hunter accepted Tormen’s request (well, we’re not given a choice in this matter)? I thought that working for a Sith isn’t always a good idea, and not giving us time to think makes it look like Hunter hasn’t even thought this through without trying other options. Yes, they are in great danger because of a huge bounty on their head, have almost no help or no help at all, and doing nothing won’t help. But. They didn’t even try to do something else than to immediately go to a Sith who seems pretty trustworthy and definitely not going to set a trap (sarcasm). I know we can have at least two offers from Blizz and Gault, but we can’t even consider them bc the game sends us to Tormen. Giving the crew some time to actually consider other courses of action, and only after failing at them travel to Tormen’s ship would show that there's no holding back, there are no options left. It doesn’t need to be a long period of time, maybe a few weeks (or even less) would be enough.

6. Get rid of Skadge. Really.

7. Mako’s quest - so, what happened next?

This was spoken about before, but I’m going to say something different here (or maybe not, maybe people already know this). Her side quest is not ended properly IMO. It would be better if we either had a continuation of this, learning more about Mako’s whereabouts. Or, what I like even more, if we had Mako admitting that any further research about project 32 won’t give her anything she doesn’t already have. The rest of the girls from the project are dead, Coral is in custody (or dead, your choice), and really, what is learning about the project will give Mako? It definitely not going to bring her family back, and at this point, she doesn’t care about Coral. Besides, she has our little space family now, so moving on seems like a logical decision.

8. Just add more conversations between all members of the crew (but it goes to all classes, really).

Just as title says.

And also some little things that I personally would love to have:

- give Blizz a rocket launcher!

- hey, let me have Mando’a lessons without having to flirt;

- I remember Gault promising to give Hunter a few lessons about compliments, where are they?

- why is there only one punchable Alderaanian face?

- same goes to Pirell;

- putting fucking slave collars on selonian. get rid of this, right now.

1) How can I get rid of this shame of doing certain things with my boyfriend? My mom isn't very conservative but she does have this kind of thinking that if a woman let's a guy do certain stuff then she's a slut and stuff like that. I know that's bs, and even if it were true, it's not like I'm doing these stuff with some rando, it's my bf. But we've been together not long and I'm already letting him touch me wherever he wants to and doing some other stuff.

2) And I keep getting these thoughts that I'm being too easy. That I should make him wait for it or don't move too fast bc he's going to get tired of me or stop putting in effort bc I give pretty easily and quickly. I know we're doing what I want to do, at the speed that I want to, but I still feel like I'm going too fast even though it's my choice.

3) Also, this materialistic view where the guy gifts his gf with stuff to show that he cares and such...he hasn't given me anything yet and he gifted stuff to his ex all the time. And I see my friends boyfriends give them stuff and I know it sounds stupid and immature but I wonder if maybe bc I'm giving him too much, that he doesn't feel the need to put in effort in that area...? I don't know how this relationship stuff works. I'm so confused.

You already know that those view your mother (and society) have ingrained on you are patriarchal and msogynistic bullshit. So really all it takes here is to start unlearning that kind of thinking. A good way to start is by getting more into sex-positivity and feminism. You’re already on the right track by recognising this issue. I don’t think it helps much if I say that slut-shaming is bad and that having lots of sex doesn’t make you a bad person. You already know that. So keep remind yourself of that and shut down that voice that’s trying to police you with outdated misogynistic worldviews.

Same goes for the materialistic thing. You know it’s crap. So don’t listen to that voice. Gifts are nice if they show that the person thought of you and paid attention to what you like. A “saw this and thought of you”-gift is always a thousand times better than just some expensive bullshit. But even so.... gifts are just one way of expressing affection and love. There are other ways to show this. So don’t fall for a materialistic and capitalist idea that the more expensive shit your partner buys the more they must love you. It’s also super classist bc some people simply cannot afford it. And they shouldn’t have to be able to afford it to be believed that their feelings for you are genuine. So learn to read other love languages than just gift-giving and don’t measure someone’s feelings based on how much money they spend on you.

And to tie this all up: you say you are afraid you are “giving him too much” and that’s why he might not give you any gifts. I assume you mean you are “giving” sexual things to him. And that is a totally skewed idea of what a healthy relationship looks like. You’re not exchanging sex for gifts. That’s... not a healthy way of looking at a relationship at all. Those two things are completely separate. Some people do sexual stuff with their partners. Some people buy or make gifts for their partners. But you should conflate the two things as if one is the payment for the other.

The zipper on your jeans moves a few times, but you’re careful not to let your vagina make a surprise appearance. With how low-cut the jeans are, Tiffany had convinced you not to wear underwear.

Which was more of a reason to get laid. 

The drink is sweet and easy to drink. You scroll through your messages on BBM but otherwise give your attention to playing flip cup with your two best friends, determined to get just a little bit tipsy before you head out to the bars. 

The hotel isn’t very far away from all of the live entertainment. It’s within walking distance which saves a ton of money on cabs, but it is a nightmare for your feet the last three nights you’ve stumbled home in wedges. Nicole even broke one of her heels, walking home on uneven feet like a seesaw. 

When you’ve decided that you’ve pregamed enough, you and your friends teeter to the elevator and down through the lobby. Outside, the balmy air kisses your skin. A creamsicle sky has faded to black and you can see the lights of the entertainment district and hear the faint thunder of music from clubs with open doors and windows. 

You scrunch your nose when Nicole lights a cigarette on your walk. You smell the crackling menthol of her Newport as she takes a drag, hoarsely laughing at a group of men who catcall you from a sports bar as you walk by. You flick your hair over your shoulder, rolling your eyes. 

As if it were that easy.

Labor Day is in full swing around you. The street has barricades to open up to foot traffic only, and they’ve relaxed open container laws. There are a few food vendors on the road, people lined up to grab a quick slice of pizza or hot dogs to settle their tequila-churned stomachs.

A breeze makes your hair dance. It smells like fried food and a hint of salt from the ocean. It carries something else on it - a taste of something wild. You’re here with your friends on a vacation that you had originally planned to take with your boyfriend.

You can recognize now that it would have been a disaster. The two of you in a partying scene meant for singles would have signed your doom. But the end had come sooner than that when you found him with his dick down some girl's throat when you came home early from work. 

In hindsight, you always knew he wasn’t ready for a relationship. But you liked the way he called you baby, the way he peppered you with kisses to make you a little less angry at him, and the way that he made you feel when you weren’t fighting.

The first bar makes you lose a little hope. House music thumps loudly over the speakers. It would be easy for you too if you thought any of the men were worth your time. They all look the same: bright polo, khaki shorts, hair gelled up. You want to tell them that Connecticut casual isn’t an outfit to the bar, but you say nothing, examining your nails for a while instead. 

One of the guys starts talking to you - Ben, you think his name might be. You bob your head to the music, listening as he explains what he does as a private financial advisor. Sweat makes your skin sticky. You shift to stand underneath the air vent by the bar a little more, but you misplace your wedge, knocking yourself off balance. Ben-Brian-Brad catches your arm and steadies you. Slides in closer. His mint breath fans your face and you blink up at him. For a split second, you consider if you were too harsh on his judgment earlier. Maybe he could surprise you. He seems easy enough to please and like it wouldn’t be hard work, and he’s already trying to win you over…

Your eyes slide past him for a second and your gaze stays fixed on the man you see coming down the stairs into the club. 

It’s nearly impossible to tear your gaze away once you see him. He runs a hand through his dark hair, laughing at something the man next to him says. He’s in dark jeans with bleached patches highlighting the material, a fitted Love Kills Slowly shirt by Ed Hardy, and even from a distance, you can see the glittering earrings in his ears.

He’s beautiful. Full lips pulling into a smirk as he winks at people he walks past. Brad rights you, asking you something but you don’t hear him, staring at the man across the bar who leans on the counter. He’s helped immediately, two bartenders drifting to a siren as they stare at him. 

As though he senses your gaze, the man looks at you and your face goes red. His eyes are seductive, narrowed a bit as he checks you out shamelessly. Dark hair gelled back perfectly. A jaw that is both elegant and dangerous. He stands out among the rest of the partiers, his features an exquisite blend of feminine and masculine. 

Your line of sight is cut off when Brad leans forward on the sticky countertop to order more drinks. You take a deep breath, trying to collect yourself. Your hands are a little shaky. Whoever that man is looks more your type, but the Ben-Brian-Brads of the world are much easier.

So you accept the new drink, sipping it and turning your back to the bar. And when you’re coaxed onto the dance floor, all disjointed limbs and sweating bodies, you forget about the Love Kills Slowly man and focus on the way you feel - dreamy and soft with the buzz of tequila in your veins. 

A song you vaguely recognize plays in the background. You sway your hips, ass pressed against Ben’s crotch with his hands gripped tightly on your sides. He sways you back and forth, less like a dance and more like an erratic pendulum that can’t find its rhythm. Ben’s dancing is less than impressive, and you start to think that your earlier thoughts about his skill in bed might be right. 

Tiffany laces your fingers with hers as she dances in front of you, pulling you away from Brian’s greedy hands to press your front against hers, letting you grind against her. You tilt your head back. Fog fills the air, lights dancing across the ceiling. It smells like the sticky-sweet of the machines used to make the fog, a tinge of sweat. 

Nicole interrupts your dancing. Your legs ache a little, pieces of hair stuck to the nape of your neck as she bounces up and down yelling, “You have got to see this guy.”

You and Tiffany laugh as Nicole pulls you, the press of bodies jostling you back and forth as you try to catch a rhythm to move through the crowd. When you break the barrier and come out on the other side, your brows shoot up at the scene in front of you. 

The Love Kills Slowly guy is posing next to a girl who points at his exposed six-pack and holy shit his body is insane. Perfectly cut abs, a solid v-line dipping into pants that fit his narrow waist. He holds the shirt up with a thumb, sticking out his tongue as the flash on the camera goes off. You can’t help but think his tongue is devilishly long. 

Up close, he’s even hotter than you thought. You stare at him as the girl who took the picture flirts with them. There is a gaggle of men and women surrounding him, a flock of geese looking upon the swan longingly.

“He is the hottest fucking person I’ve ever seen,” Tiffany giggles. “We should totes get a picture with this dude.”

“Why, is he famous?” You ask, watching as he nods and lets the girl touch his abs. God. What a tool. “He loves being the center of attention, it looks like.”

“So? He’s probably a model. I mean look at that. Come on.”

Tiffany yanks you and Nicole. You resist, stumbling over as she inserts herself into the conversation. He smiles at her, dazzling as he raises a brow at whatever she says. You pull your hand away from her and take a step back. You will not throw yourself at the Adonis in front of you. 

You pivot away from them, staring out over the open crowd. You don’t enjoy the way Tiffany and Nicole giggle, sweet as the simple syrup on the bar over this new stranger. They make it too easy, and you don’t enjoy the idea of melting for someone just because they’re hot. Even if they’re model hot.

And what kind of model wears Ed Hardy?

At first, Tiffany and Love Kills Slowly chat animatedly. That makes sense - she has a way with people and she’s an excellent flirt. When it’s said a second time, you glance at them from the corner of your eye.

“You’re being rude,” Tiffany asserts, glaring at you. You feel your eye twitch as she touches an open nerve. You’re not rude - you’re bored and your drunk friend cannot tell the difference. “This is Jimin. I was right, he is a model.”

“That’s nice.”

Jimin’s eyes are on you and your stomach flips. You pick at the french manicure on your freshly done acrylics, thinking that the attention will pass you any moment now. But you feel Jimin’s eyes on you and you sense when he leans forward past Tiffany, ducking his head to level the most intense pair of brown eyes you’ve ever seen at you. 

“What?” He asked. “Don’t like models?”

“Not one that wears Ed Hardy,” you answer honestly. Your words come out a little stiff. You feel your arm tighten, squeezing your clutch that’s wedged in your armpit. “Shouldn’t you be in like… Armani or something?”

“You’re uptight.”

“Thanks.”

He frowns. “Loosen up.” He looks at your empty hands. “Come on, let’s get you a drink.”

“Why?” Jimin moves past Tiffany entirely, offering a hand and a smirk that almost makes your mouth pop open. Your heart does a tiny flip - you can’t help it. He is stupid beautiful. “I am drinking.”

“Your hands look a little empty to me.” He grabs one of your hands, linking your fingers and tugging. “Okay, one hand full. Let’s put some goose to make you loose in the other.” 

You’re speechless as he tugs you along. Tiffany squeals a little, she and Nicole both on your heels. 

People make room for Jimin at the bar. You watch the way people look at him. He drops your hand to dig a hand into the pocket of his skin-tight jeans for a credit card. His tongue darts out to lick his lips as he looks at you.

“What’s your drink, baby?” 

“I’m not your baby.”

The quip comes out before you can stop it. Tiffany smacks your arm and makes a noise behind you. You ignore her, staring at him pointedly. 

“Mmm she’s a brat. I like that. Your drink?” Jimin prompts again with a smile, undeterred. 

“Um. Anything with Tequila.”

“A girl after my own heart. You wanna do shots?”

“Yes!” Nicole and Tiffany both squeal. He smiles at them briefly, but his eyes drag back to you.

You stare. Jimin has a dark lash line, making his eyes more enchanting. He bites his bottom lip, letting his eyes drop down to your exposed midriff before dragging his eyes back up again, raising a brow in a question. 

He’s only buying shots if you want one. 

You shrug a shoulder, nonchalant. He grins and asks the bartender for chilled Patron shots with training wheels. With his back turned, you smirk, feeling a sliver of satisfaction as you look away from Jimin and spot the group of men you were with earlier looking in your direction, murmuring amongst themselves. 

Turning quickly before you can make eye contact with Ben-Brian-Brad, you find yourself face to face with Jimin once again. He leans on the bar with one elbow, head tilted as he studies you. His attention makes you feel warm and drunker than you already are. 

“You didn’t tell me your name,” he points out as the bartender sets four glasses of blanco tequila in front of you, rimmed with salt and garnished with a lime wedge. He picks up two glasses and hands them to Nicole and Tiffany’s hands as you give him your name. “Cute. You’re cute.”

“Thank you.” 

Jimin lifts his glass in your direction. “Salude.” 

You watch, mouth parted slightly as Jimin’s tongue curls out of his mouth, licking the rim of the shot glass slowly. His eyes don’t leave yours, even when he’s finished the rim and tosses the tequila back before biting into the lime. A tiny bit of lime juice runs down his chin, your eyes following the trail. His tongue darts out to snatch it. 

“Come on,” he purrs. “Your turn.”

Your mouth is dry. You quickly lick the salted rim, barely making it around before tossing the shot back and squeezing your eyes shut as it burns down the back of your throat. You bite into the lime wedge, the sour taste helping ease the burn. 

Juice runs down your chin. Before you can wipe it, Jimin’s hand darts out, a thumb brushing across your skin to catch it. He removes his hand, lips twitching upward slightly as he absently sucks the juice from his thumb and turns to the bartender to order two tequila sours. 

“Are you on vacation?” he asks and you nod your head, a little dizzy from the shot and from him. The group of men from earlier has shuffled back toward your group, Nicole and Tiffany reluctantly shifting attention from Jimin to the men they were talking to previously. “Same. I have no idea where my friends are, I think they left me.” He slides a drink toward you. “You won’t leave me, right?” 

“Depends.”

“On?”

“If you’re nice or not. I like nice guys.”

He sips his drink, leering at you over the rim of the glass. “I’m a nice guy. At least, for you.” He nods his head toward the group of guys. “You have a boyfriend?”

“Would you care if I did?”

He throws his head back to laugh, throat covered in a light sheen of sweat. He looks at you over the glass, the first genuine smile not filled with something lingering on lust that he gives you. “No, but you told me to be nice.” 

That makes you smile a bit. You bite your lip, trying to hide it, and decide to sip the drink. It’s good - strong - but good. “You seem like the type who wouldn’t care.”

“Awe don’t hurt my feelings. You’re like one of the hottest girls in here and I’m into it. If I had to ignore a ring or a boyfriend, I would. Is that so bad?” You shrug, sipping on the drink. You don’t know what to say. 

Thankfully, Jimin doesn’t really seem to care. You think perhaps he likes hearing himself talk. It works out. Jimin fills the conversation with the normal what do you do and what do you like? You don’t miss the way he leans in toward you, or the way he glances at your mouth. 

Still, you’re a little rigid. Your sentences aren’t as smooth and practiced as his. He doesn’t seem to care, shuffling a little close to you as the bar fills up with people. He smells like Axe Essence and the 5 gum he’s popped into his mouth between drinks. 

“Trying to quit coke,” he snickers when he sticks another piece of gum in his mouth. “Got some bad press for it during last fashion week and my agency keeps threatening to drop me even though it's obviously a pre-fucking-requisite to walk for McQueen.” 

“And chewing gum helps with that?”

“Not really, but it gives my mouth something to do and it soothes the muscle memory of hand to face.”

“Smart.”

“You look incredible by the way.” That makes you blush, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth and ducking your head. Jimin chuckles, tapping your chin lightly with a finger to make you look back up at him. “Cute.”

“Thanks.”

“You’re a bit of a spoiled brat, huh?” That makes you frown and pull away. He whines, hands chasing your shoulders to draw you closer to him. “Stop. I like that. It means you have high standards and good taste.” 

You hum, finishing the rest of your drink. You’re properly drunk now, the room tilting a little bit as a giggle escapes you when Jimin looks at you. He laughs back, sliding a glass of water over to you after he takes a few sips. 

The water is refreshing. Your skin feels warm all over and you move a little slower, looking around. The club is more packed than you remember and there are more bodies on the dance floor. You watch the way people move together, pressed up against one another and grinding to the music humming through the air. 

Jimin follows your gaze, leaning closer to you and popping his gum in your ear. “Wanna dance?” 

You nod, looking up at him through your lashes. He grins and pushes off the bar, sliding a hand around your waist to shift you in front of him. You look at him over your shoulder with narrowed eyes and he smiles, tucking you to his chest and sliding his chin on your shoulder. 

“Coming through,” he calls, walking you both through the group behind you. Ben-Brian-Brad glares at you and you avert your eyes as Jimin guides you toward the dance floor, pads of his fingers pressed firming into your hips and scouring marks into your skin. “Tool in the polo definitely has a small dick.”

You giggle as you peel apart, Jimin catching your hand as you turn to face him, pulling him with you. “What makes you say that?”

“His fucking collar is popped, baby.” 

“I think he’s mad at me,” you admit.

“You’re way out of his league.”

“That’s true.”

Jimin wraps his hands around your wrist and yanks you to him. You gasp, stumbling as your chests press together. He slots a thigh between your legs, making you freeze for a moment as the music slows a bit. Jimin’s hands are confident where they settle on your waist, moving your hips in a soft rhythm as he begins to move. 

Instincts take over. You wrap your arms around Jimin’s neck, letting him press his forehead against yours as he stares you down. He’s no longer controlling your hips but letting you move against him naturally, both of your bodies in sync. 

Jimin is an amazing dancer, never forcing you to sway too much or trying to control your movements awkwardly. He rolls his hips into you experimentally once and you gasp lightly, noses brushing together.

You don’t have to wonder long. Jimin notices you staring. Gives you a wolfish grin. You think he looks wicked in the low light, all sharp eyes with a cunning smile. 

And then he’s kissing you. 

You make a sound of surprise, but it’s swallowed in his warm, minty mouth. Your fingers tighten in his hair as he presses the small of your back so that you’re impossibly closer. 

It’s easy to forget you’re in the middle of the dance floor. Jimin’s mouth moves slowly against yours, sucking your bottom lip greedily as he pulls away for a split second. Before you can chase his lips with yours, he’s kissing you again, with a little more vigor and a curious tongue that swipes the seam of your lips.

You open your mouth to him and Jimin consumes you. You’re spinning, holding onto him for dear life as he sucks your tongue into his mouth. Fuck, you knew his tongue would be good. It makes you light-headed as he licks into your mouth, fingers clawing at you as a whine escapes his throat. 

Suddenly the kiss breaks. You blink up at him, stars in your eyes and cotton-fuzz thoughts, lost in him. Jimin isn’t looking at you though, he’s looking at the DJ and yelling, pointing over your head as he detaches from you. 

“This is my fucking song,” he yells at you, as though he hadn’t been tongue fucking your mouth a moment ago. You look at him, dazed and confused. He notices and pops a kiss on your mouth. “God, you're needy. Don’t pout, I’ll kiss you more after.” 

“What makes you think I want to kiss you more?”

He doesn’t say anything. Instead, he leans forward and kisses you once. Twice. It’s sweet and leaves your mind scattered as he guides you backward slightly before smacking your ass lightly. 

“Watch,” he instructs. “And try not to be a brat about it, yeah?”

“I’ll think about it.”

Jerk by New Boyz is on in the background. Jimin sweeps his arms, backing people away before he starts walking quickly in a circle, bobbing his head to the music and making room for his little show. 

A circle clears in the middle of the dance floor. You cross your arms with raised brows, Michael Kors clutch tucked in your armpit as you watch Jimin wave people back as the song plays. All eyes are on him, cheering as he nods and smirks at the crowd, turning to blow you a cheeky kiss.

You roll your eyes but smile anyways.

Jimin decides he has enough room and right as the chorus starts, he begins to hop and shuffle his feet backward then forward. The crowd goes wild, clapping their hands as he manages to execute the jerk without slipping on the beer and liquor-stained floor.

He spins and drops low, going down to the floor. The crowd yells for him, clapping and cheering him on as Jimin slowly works his way back up. His devious tongue is tucked against his plush upper lip, the hint of a smirk on his mouth.

More guys join the dancing, showing off their moves. Jimin, not one to be outshined, sticks his tongue out all the way, rolling his eyes back as he shakes his head and hooks a thumb in the hem of his shirt, pulling it up to reveal a flawless set of abs, shining in the glittering lights.

The women go crazy as he laughs manically, gesturing to his impressive physique to the other dancers, who roll their eyes and back off. You’re jostled from side-to-side, rolling your eyes when Jimin drops his shirt and dances his way over to you, eyes looking you up and down.

You give him an unimpressed look, yawning and looking the other way as he grips your hips, fingers digging into your flesh through the jeans. “Come on,” he purrs. “Spoiled brat not impressed?”

You are. You just don’t want to be.

“Nope,” you say.

He crowds your space as the circle closes and the song changes. Jimin presses his hips against yours and your stomach drops. Your eyes snap back to his as his hands brush backward, squeezing the sides of your ass.

You cringe at the way he phrases it, but you’re intrigued. Your friends taunting you for your lack of sexual experience earlier replays in your mind. So you play along, raising a brow. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.” You wrap your arms around him when someone knocks into you. He noses the line of your jaw, breath warm in your ear when he whispers. “So like… you DTF or what?”

Before your ex, you would have never thought to sleep with someone you just met at a bar. You know very little about Jimin besides the fact that he likes to hear himself talk, that he’s a little arrogant and that he is wildly, ridiculously hot. 

Jimin nibbles on his bottom lip, squeezing your hips to tell you he’s still waiting on an answer. The way your stomach flips and you already feel arousal at the cocky way he asserts himself tells you what you want to say. 

“I think so…”

“You think so or you know so?” Your mouth is dry and you don’t know what to say, so you shrug. He seems to read you. “You never went home with a guy at a bar before?”

“No.”

“Come on,” he whines, sliding his hands in your back pockets. “I’ll be really sweet.”

“Yeah?”

He leans down, nudging his nose with yours. You laugh, leaning back a bit but Jimin is persistent, chasing the intimate contact. “Yeah. I’ll even make sure you cum first.”

“Yours. My friends are stupid fucks.”

You find Tiffany and Nicole dancing with the original group of guys. Ben-Brian-Brad is glaring at you openly now, and Jimin is pressed behind you so close that you can feel the cool metal of his zipper on your lower back. 

Tiffany and Nicole assure you they’re going to another club and will go to the beach house that the guy group is staying at. With gloss-stain cheek kisses and goodbyes, you leave them dancing as Jimin wraps a hand around your waist, gluing you together as you stumble out into the night.

The strip of bars is full of people. Cool air kisses your skin, making you moan in relief a bit as you begin walking toward your hotel. Your steps are uneven, you and Jimin pushing one another back and forth as you try to navigate your way home. You stumble a little too far when he presses a kiss to your neck, leaning on you too much for your drunk weight to bear and sending you several steps. 

“Owww,” you whine. “That hurt my ankle. I’m in heels and my feet hurt, Jimin.” You drop his hand and look up at him, sticking out your bottom lip in an animated pout. “Give me a piggyback ride.”

“What do you mean?”

“If you ride my back, I need to… ride you.”

You roll your eyes. “I already told you I’ll have sex with you, idiot.”

“Yeah but I could really use a good blow job.”

You scrunch your nose. “Fine.” 

Jimin grins, letting go of you to squat and look over his shoulder at you, eyes glittering. “All aboard the Park express. Next stop: pound town.”

Huffing, you place either hand on Jimin’s shoulders and jump a little. He catches you easily, hands gripping your thighs firmly. You shiver at the feeling of his hands. Jimin straightens and you wrap your arms around his neck, settling your chin over his right shoulder.

“You’re kind of a jerk-off, huh?”

He grins as he starts to walk. “A little. But you’re kind of a bitch, so I think it works.”

You hum - he has a point.

The piggyback ride is just as dangerous as the walk. Jimin walks crooked sometimes, only for you to yell and smack his shoulder to send him back in a straight line. He gets distracted by a pizza stand which makes you flick his ear. And when you’re finally in front of the automatic double doors to your hotel, he is gasping for air and immediately sags against the elevator wall.

“You’re fuckin’ heavy.”

“That is so rude.”
