But Joe had insisted, not as a display of wealth but because he'd genuinely wanted to make her journey easier after the long haul from Italy.
"You'll be exhausted enough without dealing with connections and crowds," he'd said when she'd protested. The thoughtfulness behind the gesture touched her more than the luxury itself.
She’d been awake for nearly twenty-four hours straight—from the final night in Italy to the early morning drive to Rome, followed by the eight-hour flight to JFK. Her body clock was completely scrambled, her mind foggy with travel exhaustion. But beneath the fatigue was a nervous energy that buzzed through her veins. "I doubt that," Riley replied, studying his profile as he drove. "Everything about you is deliberate. I'm betting your place is the same way."

One last kiss, brief but carrying a promise of more, and then Riley forced herself to move up the steps, pausing at the top to look back. Joe was still there, hands in his pockets, that steady, unmovable presence that had become so familiar. He didn't wave or make some grand gesture—that wasn't Joe—but he didn't move either, just stood there, grounded and waiting until the very last moment.
Once inside, Riley sank into the plush leather seat, glancing back out the window to see him still rooted in place, watching the plane prepare for takeoff. As the engines rumbled to life and the jet taxied toward the runway, she couldn't help but feel like she was leaving a piece of herself behind with him.
Closing her eyes, Riley leaned back and let herself feel the ache of missing him already. But beneath it was something else—something that felt less like loss and more like potential. She didn't know how, but she knew they'd find their way through this. Whatever had sparked between them wasn't something that could be easily extinguished.
Different worlds, maybe. But somehow, in ways that defied logic, they'd found a way to orbit each other. And if there was one thing she knew about Joe Burrow, it was that once he set his mind on something, he didn't quit.
She just had to trust that this—whatever it was becoming—was one of those things.

I'm hooked onto D's route and it's amazing how you're putting a band storyline inside another storyline. I can't wait to see where it goes cause my MC is gonna have her hands full trying to juggle both being a part of a secret society and a band on top of being a full-time student 😭
My question is if we'll be able to have any creative control over the music? I'm guessing D does most of the writing but I imagine my MC to also be a songwriter. They're already sharing vocals with her, I wonder if they'd be willing to write songs together or have some of her songs featured in the album.
I'm also curious about the rest of the band, what do they think about having two vocalists and do they have any creative control over the band's music? I'm salty Julian isn't an love interest, my Italian heart immediately recognised a kindred soul and it doesn't help that he looks like Jeff Buckley lol
none of the band members aside from D, except maybe mavis at times, are very keen on writing songs. they’re strictly musicians who are great at a variety of instruments but songwriting is where they draw the line. D is the brains of the band, and the reason why their lyrical aspect is as good as the instrumental parts.
in similar way to how the rest of the band members have little to no interest in writing the songs, D has little to no interest in the production part of it. they gladly let everyone figure out how the instrumentals are supposed to go and how they must be layered alongside the vocals. their discography has a fair amount of songs where there are no vocals to simply let the talent shine.
eli is the main producer and arranges everything together to form the final product. they’re their keyboardist, sure, but they’re also an amazing composure who turned down going to the royal college of music in london because yale was giving them a full ride scholarship as an international student and they didn’t have the funds to attend the former.
MC can join the creative process alongside eli and help composing and producing the final product. they can also have their written materials be featured in the band’s discography cause they’re all happy enough to have another good songwriter in the group.
D won’t have a thrilled reaction to having to share the vocalist spot in the future but you can change their mind with the upcoming auditions 👀 they’re very much not immune to someone who clearly has the talent to back everything up đŸ€·đŸ»
i’m glad you loved julian omg, he is an absolute sweetheart and he is very much based on jeff buckley because my mum loved the guy’s music growing up đŸ€­

Part 2 here. I RE-READ THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT HONESTLY MY BRAIN IS SO FRIED I AM NOT SURE WHAT THIS POST CONTAINS. i may have exagerated and also forgotten something, but there is at least another post abt ivan waiting, soooo...
omg i feel like i could write a whole book abt ivan, i swear. i am finally where i wanted to be - the new song, the one that took over my brain and that i kinda want to listen to in repeat for the rest of my life.
and mind you - this is "Ivan Part 1". PART. 1. WTAF.

this is probably the moment nowhere is born. ivan's hypocris and dissonance gave birth to this - which may be why the lore of this CD tells us it was found by chance, stored in Anakt Lost and Found Center and recorded as sold by an unknown donor. that means, he probably composed, wrote and recorded nowhere back in anakt, before graduation - though i like the idea of ivan composing this after it, in the period of time he didn't see till, mizi and sua, a period where memories might have taken over his mind and made him nostalgic, restless.

i feel like it is much more personal and raw than black sorrow, and since i am obsessed with ivan, i can't resists its call - it is now my favourite among all the alnst tracks.

this is, like, the first step. where the tears start.
it is not our first time seeing little ivan from the slums-arc, but every time, it feels like a punch on the face. the little snaggletooth is there, he is dirty and wears worn out (lab?) clothes and his eyes are so so empty, i can barely stand looking at him without crying.
another important element: the small feet belonging to one of the kids - toes are missing. did those, dunno, froze and got removed? did adults/aliens remove them to torture the kid/make him incapable of running away/as a punishment of sort? no idea. as i said, i love the idea of ivan being born in an illegal factory for pet humans - it would fit so so well - born as a commodity from the very beginning.
like, how much more miserable do i want my baby to be? yes.
the title.
it's nowhere, but for the cover they went like "no, let's play something" and split it in now here. obvious question: why?
nowhere is undefined - it's a no-place, it means "not in or to any place; not anywhere". it might suggest ivan's lack of a sense of belonging, again, the insecurity that comes with not having a stable life - practically and emotionally.
now here is a bit more defined - here is a place, but where, exactly? and is it only a place or more a situation, a moment, a condition? probably both - like, "now i am here, doing this, being this, within this situation and that's it". the song should tell us more!

wow. just - mindblowing.
this is Ivan's solo, his own song, like hyuna's drunk & party and love & peace. the appearance of the world love is incredibly important, but i don't think it defines the theme of the whole song.
what it does is set the pov - this song is written/composed in a moment where ivan: already knows this word + thinks he knows what it means (and links it to till).
the fact that these verses sound radio-like, distant, as if ivan is listening to them instead of actively singing. it creates a gap between them and the rest of the song. it feels like he is composing the song in a moment when he already knows is love is doomed, so he rewinds back to his own origins and speaks abt himself. the song is written by a Ivan who already knows everything, so we can find traces of "future events" in verses of the song that are supposedly about the past.
these words also sound distorted - love is not sweet sounding and charming and light, like my clematis, nor it is energetic and hopeful like unknown until the end, with till wishing to know more and singing abt his resilience. no. in nowhere, love is raspy and numb and has darker hues - it is obsessive, haunting, just like how these verses resound for the entire song in the background.

they sound like a condemnation and a reminder: ivan loves, can't help but love, has no choice but to love, is condemned to love, chose actively to love. they also sound like he is drilling the word into the listener's head by repeating to it non-stop, in an obsessive cycle.

Key words: history, beginning to end. i already said many times, but ivan is a narrator. this is the starting point of ivan's story, ivan's realities, both the one he begins to write abt himself (or tries to) and the one from where we can glimpes at the real ivan. the lyrics might have started with "once upon a time there was a black-haired boy..." and get the same effect. he recounts a history (his own) that is real to him, that mirrors his life - but we can't totally believe him. let's keep this in mind!
we know this story ends in black, with an empty spot and blood (black soooorroooooow), but how does it start? this song has references to ivan's past and life at anakt, so it was probably written slighlty before graduation (since the CD was found in anakt warehouse and an unregistered track - how ivan recorded it is a mystery, but we know he has knowledge and priviledges other do not have). either that, or after graduation/before alien stage, and he somehow found a way to sneak the CD there.
that is probably why he writes "from beginning to end, a stained history": he remembers the beginning and is in a position where he can already predict the end of the story - stained, never pure, since the very start, as if his life was destined to be like that.
what abt the "freely chatters away" verse? i'm not sure, because how can someone's history chatter away? i think we can see it as "it freely chatters away from my mouth", like this story spills from ivan easily, like he can easily build lies for the sake of keeping this illusion, this mask he has, going. the expression apparently indicates someone speaking fluidly, in a relaxed way, but also rambling for a long time. it may suggest that, while from the outside ivan looks smooth and collected, from his point of view this is all rambling, it's the fictional-ivan he created for the sake of the society he lives in - a ivan he needs and uses and maybe resents.
"that always happens to me" reinforces the "beginning to end" part of the song - he is singing abt a common theme in his life in a dejected tone, resigned, like he knows/feels he can't do anything abt it and is okay with it. the stain is permanent and he is destined to "that".
Nowhere, rose-tinted rigid dream and hope It's stained with blood That's just how it is That always happens to me
this is where it gets super super interesting. if in the previous part ivan was warning us abt this being a story (his story and/or the story he is writing abt himself), we are now within ivan's narration.
ivan is still nowhere, but we have some coordinates: a "rigid dream and hope" dyed in rosy hues. he tells us about the existence of a dream immersed in a light, delicate color - the color of stereotypical love/affection (?), of beautiful things. also, this dream/hope is rigid, which is not very dream-like or hopeful.
contrasting images, how fitting for our living oxymoron!
a dream may be something that is commonly regarded as beautiful and ideal (a dream), but that for ivan is rigid - forced? unnatural? a dream he has to fit in in order to survive/blend in/function in the society he finds himself in, perhaps. i explained how other kids at anakt see him and how he makes himself friendlier and smilier. this may be it.
we could also make it abt romantic love. maybe ivan is trying to fit into a vision of love he can't fully embrace/mirror, so he perceives it as stiff. i hope i'm about to phrase it in the right way, but a nice example might be the contrast between mainstream and/or hetero depiction of love vs lgbt depiction of love. ivan being (canonically?) gay gives this idea even more credit - in a normal world, without aliens, surrounded by ways of loving ivan doesn't identify in, this sentence presents his discomfort abt not fitting in stereotypical love.
of course alnst!ivan doesn't have that benefit, but i think this discourse may work as some sort of parallelism: ivan can't love the way he sees other people love. take mizi and sua, for example. in ivan's eyes, they fit the "rose-tinted dream and hope", it is not "stiff" if he puts them in it, then he thinks about himself, abt how he loves (loves till) and it doesn't work anymore.
[we could associate it to till's depiction of love - the rosy hues of this dream are not to be intended as stereotypical, but as the ideal love till wants (sees in mizi) and ivan can't give - perhaps, but i'd like to focus on ivan]
"it's stained with blood", here we come to the stained history from before - stained with what? eh. ivan's life started with blood and ended with blood (his own), but also the blood of humanity, of the people he meets, also destined to a bloody end because of the world they live in. a rosy dream, a rosy hope, the blabbering wonders of a young mind end in red, in blood, and the contrast is as good as it is painful. what is the point of trying to fit in an illusion like that when he already knows what the end will be? that's why his story was stained from the beginning - the end was clear as day since ivan's first opened his eyes.
yeah. "that's just how it is", after all, from ivan's pov. he is resigned to it, so the illusion gives him no comfort, prevents him from fitting in. and again, it is something that always happens to him. what is it? not belonging. he is nowhere, in a story written by him that is stained since the beginning (his birth) to the end (his death), a story with no hope of redemption or finding better condition - a story where not even a dream can give him hope.
My sky, shaped by the world doesn't even let me stand under it I lay down and look at yesterday's daydream, all torn up
i love this part. okay.
"my sky" - the sky is something everyone has above their head. it's just there, no matter the planet. adding "my" kinda gives it something poetic abt it, as if the narrator is not reffering to the sky, but a particular something/someone that can be equated to the sky. while this is a possible interpretation
[again, the sky and the color teal resonate with each other, it is an interesting way of fitting till here, but it's not only that!]
we need to dig a bit more. how many skies did ivan see? the one in the slums - glimpses between rundown buildings -, the night sky before his auction, the fake baby blue at anakt, the red metor shower sky with till, the (fake?) one above the stage he died on. what do the have in common? all are concessions/creations given to him by others. adding "my" makes it interesting, because the sky is not something that can belong to a person, but we know ivan feels a connection with what the sky holds.
"shaped by the world" - that's why he added this. it is "his" sky in the measure which it was shaped by someone/something else. his birth, aliens, till, these are all entities that influenced the "sky" ivan claims as "his", as if to say "i can't have the whole thing because so many have taken it away from me/have limited the sky i could reach".
"doesn't even let me stand under it" - not only that, not only the slice of sky he can have is limited, his sky (this remaining slice) doesn't even accept him. how heart-breaking is this? because we know the sky isn't guilty - this is how ivan perceives himself. he feels rejected by people and by the world, as if it was saying to him that he shouldn't have been born. after all, if the sky does't let him stand under it, what place does ivan have left?
this speaks to me abt his authentic inability to belong. while i think we can say that it is not true that he is unwanted, it is not true that the world rejects him, i can sure understand why he sees himself like that - abandoned, ill threated, sold off, "unloved", used as a commodity. his view of himself, crooked as it is, is not baseles.
he can't have a physical place - so he creates his own reality.
saying "I lay down and look at yesterday's daydream, all torn up" makes me think abt little ivan, back on the ground, staring up the same way we would lay on grass and watch the clouds move.
"yesterday" - we can take it literally, so the day prior, of more figuratively, it may refer to the past. the story progresses: there was a time when ivan used to have dreams, maybe rose-tinted, maybe those same dreams he can't fit in now, and he regards them now as something from the past, from which he now distance himself
"daydream" - these were not unconscious dreams made at night, but dreams he conjured willingly, his own narrative, the story of the ivan he wanted to be all tangled in this song.
"all torn up" - like he knows better, now, than to abandon himself to them. they are all torn up, probably by the awareness that they are dreams, and that ivan can't fit in.
ivan is talking abt the attempt at dreaming he made when he was young, and abt his discovery/awareness that it doesn't work for him. let's think of the meteor shower event with till. by escaping with him, ivan tried to fit into till's dream (freedom), but failed. so he stares at this, at his "yesterday's daydreams", and replays them in his mind.
does this mean he stops dreaming? honestly, i don't think so. ivan is a hopeless romantic (not strictly related to love, but "of, characterized by, or suggestive of an idealized view of reality"), a drama queen, a narrator. part of the frustration this song suggest may be related to the fact that despite knowing it is useless, he can't help but doing it.

although not explicitly said, it appears that here ivan is not talking to himself, seems to be referring to a "you". he doesn't have problems with mentioning himself in the lyrics (happens to me, my sky, I lay down), so it must mean something!
i am a bit torn, here, because it could still mean that he (present ivan) is speaking to little ivan. like he wants to chase away his vulnerable and inexperienced past self, so distant from the ivan he became and needs to be in order to live in relative peace until the end. "fly away from my mind, don't let me reminesh, don't let me remember, forgetting is easier, safer, as i am used to force myself to live survive in ignorance". he could also be asking him(self) to escape, at least within the dream - to go far, far away, in a safe place, so not to experience what he had.
but. in love with you, when you were mine. daydreams and hope and blood stains, a sky that doesn't want him... it feels like ivan isn't only at war with himself, but with a different stain, a different imprint, a different someone. the robotic voice is still there, in the background, like a reminder that this is not only about the ivan-self.
ivan is trying to get rid of something.
he is inviting that something to go away, or maybe chasing it away from him, to safety. imagine that something is a someone. imagine that someone is till. now take these words and make them abt till: "fly away from my mind, don't let me reminesh, don't let me remember, forgetting is easier, safer, as i am used to force myself to live survive in ignorance". what if he is telling till to go away becausse he doesn't want to hurt him with his words and behaviour anymore? what if he also doing it for himself? because if ivan doesn't think abt till, if he doesn't think abt the meteor shower, if he doesn't think about alien stage being the place where one of them will probably have to die, he can put all his efforts into his performance and win. we know he can - r3 ended with him making 90 points. till is good, but r6, absent-minded till? ivan could win. it's just that in the end, he can't.

i like both interpretation, because they both force ivan to face parts of himself he probably doesn't like or can't accept or even better, can't understand.

"wake up" - he is talking to himself now. as i said, i don't think adult ivan stops dreaming just because he can't abandon himself to his daydreams the way others do. the point his, waking up is like a slap in the face for him - his daily life is overwhelming: medical experimentations, lessons, alien stage awaiting him, songs to record, death, and what remains of him? "an existence like dust"
he can't stand the idea of keeping his eyes on it. he can't find refuge in the dream (so he turns off his mind), he can't find solace in reality (so he closes his eyes). are you starting to get why the song is called nowhere?

the "painful wound" can be a a trauma (his past, threatment at anakt, meteor shower) or simply a mix of everything - it can be his whole life, perceived as a festering wound he can't heal from, that makes him number and number to everything, both dream and reality. the darkness has lights, but no one in sight.

the chorus repeats, but with a variant - "With that revolting tooth", the saggletooth we and the alien public all love.
hatred toward himself - ivan is incredibly critical of himself, but not in a neautral, objective way. he finds this detail of him "revolting", which is too strong a word and confirms that he cannot be objective when it comes to himself. baby, you are beautiful???? NOTHING is revolting abt you. what the hell.
it may be a reminder of something that happened to him in the slums, though. a trauma, a critica, tortures? i wish i knew!

his dream and hope take a different hue - purple. it is getting darker, if we think they were initially tinted in a rose-colour. it feels like his daydream is maturing, that there is a temporal shift, so while his first daydreams were rosy, growing up they became purplish. heading toward black?

i wrote abt ivan's dissonance, his splitting in two, the frustration he feels with himself. i also said he is trying to get rid of something, and it makes a lot of sense that that something is the side of himself he resents/can't understand/can't reason with.
notice how the way he sings this and the next part gets quicker, more raspy, less elegant. it feels like a punch in the face with how intense it is. ivan sounds resentful. not angry, maybe - his voice is soft, haunting, resigned for most of the song, but here? he is letting it all go. he is venting, releasing. "there is nothing to do, kid, things are bound to stay the way they were, the way they are, so just laugh and keep smiling because no one will ever care about you. don't even try, don't look for a place to be, this is how things are and no amount of dreams/efforts will change things up."
so. he is talking to himself. nowhere is a letter to his past self - little ivan, lost between the slums, his daydreams and the hope to be loved. his tone grows louder, more livelier for a moment, because he is feeling it all.

and after talking to himself, he mentions till. i can't fit the English sentence here as something ivan tells himself/kid ivan, it is far from how he perceives himself. the sentence is also in English, so it's like he is highlighting the change in subject.
that's why he reminds himself "don't bother, don't think, ignore it all, forget that it all happened". what? the meteor shower. it comes back to that as a moment where not only till, the whole dream of ivan being able to fit in splits and falls apart - the starting point of the dissonance that will lead ivan to composing this song.

the dream has collapsed, so back to reality - the reality he built for himself, where he can control things. this life is beautiful, but it is obviously a lie, because his existence is still like dust, and he still needs to keep eyes and mind closed.
the wound keeps festering - the reality he builds for himself is to have the illusion of a place to stay, but not a mind-numbing one. he knows he doesn't belong, doesn't pretend to find a place for himself, that's why the rest of the verses are the same. it's still him and he is still aware, but there is a disillusioned acceptance to his role.

this is also where the anger and loathing he feels toward himself most emerge, i think.
"festering" reminds us of the wound ivan lives with, the one that keeps hurting and keeps him numbed to the pain, but here it is linked to hysteria ("exaggerated or uncontrollable emotion or excitement"). so it really is something ivan feels he can't keep under control. perhaps, the process of putting all this darkness in a song was meant to be cathartic.

"with those cruel lips" makes me wanna scream. because even though i logically link this to ivan and to what he said abt himself in this comic, the song keeps presenting us with instances where we can link some verses to till instead - ivan has been cruel to him, from ivan's pov, but maybe, a part of ivan also blames till for cruelly ignoring him and his sorrow.

"seeped in black"!!!!! darkness fell, ivan's heart is still once more, he is once again in control - resigned to his fate, or better, the fate he assigned himself.
"black" winks at black sorrow - and perhaps this is the moment ivan began to plan his willing demise.
this may also be why the cover says "now here": ivan is here, in pre-alien stage, with this song in his hands, with these memories freshly extracted from his mind, freshly recollected. he disposes of it all and goes back to the short life that remains him, the chaos in his head appeased, the confusion numbed, ready to head toward the black end.

ivan is presented with all these contrasts and complications and differences between what he would have wanted to be (his dream) and what his reality has to offer (till loving mizi, ivan loveless and unlovable, a death game with an inevitable ending).
i thought nothing hurt more than black sorrow, but this song is painfully ivan. it couldn't have gotten more personal than this, and it makes my heart ache so much.
this is the song the pictures ivan most perfectly. this is also the song ivan never wanted us, everyone, to find. the dissonance and hypocrisis in himself grew to a point that he probably needed to let it out - and what's the best way to do it for someone like ivan who seldom even feels like needing to let it all out? music. he has been studying it profoundly, knows it can be cathartic - has seen his friends, especially till, use music as a medium for emotions, both controlled and bottled up.
he composes and writes this to be abt himself - maybe abt his friends, maybe against the system -, but he does and narrates himself the way he sees himself, the ivan that he thinks he is. we know he is an unreliable narrator, and the song tells us exactly that: this is ivan, someone who can't be trusted when describing himself, so in a way, the unreliability is ivan's most accurate portrait.
he probably felt naked after recording this, so i have a strong feeling ivan himself disposed of it - that is why it was "found" in a warehouse - as the song is ivan's story, but also a cry against the system for making him like this and a love/hate letter, to till and to himself. he couldn't let anyone find it before his death, now, could he?

Of course we should not take things at face value either like WHO KNOWS what this will mean in reality but still, it's a very positive statement?
So I'll put my sagittarius hat and remain OPTIMISTIC 😌 as the future direction the boys take after military.
My only wish is that they can have time to take care of themselves, their well-being, and given space to create the art they want, how and when they want it. I truly wish the very best for them in every sense of the word like? Please đŸ„ș that's my only hope.
And this little statement is at least a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Oh you loved this lullaby. Glancing at your hands, you notice a wedding ring adorning your finger. Looking up, you see your father delicately strumming a guitar. Realization dawns—you are experiencing this moment through your mother's perspective. Is this a dream? Though everything appears slightly blurred, certain details stand out.
As the final note fades, your father rests his hands away from the instrument. Why was he here? I hate him. I hate him,
"So... what do you think?" Jasper asks, glancing shyly up at you—or rather, at your mother.
"You composed a song for me?" Lakia murmurs in awe.
"Uh... yeah, I actually wrote a few, but this one is my favorite." Jasper chuckles, a faint blush coloring his cheeks.
"You wrote multiple songs!" Lakia exclaims excitedly, leaping into her beloved's arms. He lifts her off the ground, twirling her in a warm embrace. "Can I turn it into a lullaby for our future children?" Lakia asks joyfully.
A gentle nudge pulls you from the dream. Your vision is blurry, but you discern a red-haired man adjusting your blanket. As your sight clears, you recognize him moving away.
"Mmm... Sae?" you murmur.
Before Sae closes your bedroom door, he pauses, waiting for you to speak.
"Hmm?"
"What time is it?" you ask sleepily.
"It's 6:38 PM. Go back to sleep."
"Mmm, I don't think I can," you say, sitting up.
Sae returns to your bedside to keep you company.
"Are you still feeling unwell?"
"Yeah, and I had a dream."
"Was it the one where food tries to eat you again?”
"No... I can't remember clearly. But I heard my mom singing a song. Or was that you?" you tease gently.
"I don't sing," Sae replies hastily.
“I’m just teasing you, I thought you confess something like ‘I can sing like pretty princess,’ Can you?”
“I don't sing” Sae repeats with the same tone
You look out the window, and see harsh windy snow. How will Sae get out of this mess? “Would you
like to stay tonight?”
“Why?”
“It’s like a blizzard out there, it’ll be dangerous for you.”
“So?”
“Oh so you’re immortal you can survive that?”
“No”
“Please It’s the best I can repay you somehow.” You beg with your hands intertwined
“Why do you care?”
“Uh— I don’t I just
 don’t want people to see the famous cool Sae Itoshi die from frosty the snowman on the news tomorrow you know?”
“You don’t even have a guest room, and I want a good bed to sleep on or my neck hurts.”
“The sofa I have is so comfortable, your neck won’t even hurt.”
“You think I sleep on sofas?”

“Right, exactly. So it’s sofa or my bed which I’ll be on the sofa if you choose the bed.”
“I’ll just go home”
“But you’ll meet frosty the snowman”
“Whats with you and frosty the snowman, bum?”
“Uh—I am not a bum, and frosty the snowman tried to kill me in my dream once when all I did was ask for a cat plushie for Christmas.”

If the beginning was kinda confusing basically the song your mom hums is something you love but your father made it and you hate papa for reasons and also you don’t know that your father made it because you keep rejecting it in your subconscious. and if it helps to you think I’d like the song to sound something like ‘About you” by 1975. I exactly chose this because in the song you hear a female voice which is actually one of the producer’s wife which parallel’s to the reader’s parents.

VIVA LA VIE BOHEME!
oh, rent is literally one of my favourite musicals ever and i already saw four versions of it if i'm correct - the movie, broadway production with renee elise goldsberry, stage production with jordan fisher (because you all know i love this guy) and this one, our polish production. and honestly, this one was my absolute favourite, even if it wasn't the best one.

here's what i mean: the thing about musical theatre is that even if you love the original version with all your heart experiencing it live is just... on another level. it's different, it's better, because you're there in person. i think it's worth noting that i also saw tick tick boom last year, so two musicals composed by one and only jonathan larson in 2024 (and he is one of my favourite composers and his art means so much to me if you can't tell). it's crazy when you think about it. also, the fact that i could do this with my bestest friend in the world means absolutely everything to me.

i know i am always repeating myself, but damn, our polish cast was literally incredible (especially the actors who played mimi, angel and maureen - so vocally maureen was the best, but those three were my favourites). the entire cast was amazing tho, and the thing i already discussed with bel - i am usually not the biggest fan of mark, but damn, our polish mark was just great (i also loved his outfit).
the thing about outfits! i remember some kids who were sitting behind us were discussing the... bad and confusing choice of their clothes? but...? personally i think they did a great job here because i could recognize every single character as soon as i saw them for the first time on this stage and that says a lot, so where's the lie? (they had a lot of incorrect opinions tho and i just wanted them to shut tf up)

the choreography... ahh. i honestly have shivers when i think about it now. like i said, the entire cast was absolutely incredible, not only vocally, but DAMN THEY KNOW HOW TO DANCE. AND ACT. and this is the magic of live theatre - it's something you can only feel when you're there, seeing it on the screen is just a totally different experience. suddenly you start noticing things you have not seen before, and this is also what i want to talk about.
those of you who decided to read this essay probably know that musical theatre is a serious thing to me and i DO NOT engage with it because i want to be entertained - i do it because i'm looking for the truth, the message, for something that will change my life. and very often seeing it live changes my perspective completely - i suddenly find a whole different meaning, different things speak to me. so here's what happened: during another day (probably my favourite song from this production) i realized that this is literally the message i've been searching for. there is no future, there is no past, i live this moment as my last. this quote has been haunting me ever since. cause rent is not just about community, finding family in complete strangers, it's also about living your life like there's no tomorrow. much to think about.

i think rent hits the most when you're familiar with tick tick boom and jonathan larson's story. the funniest thing is that at the very end of it they literally showed a picture of jon and bel and i were the only people there who started screaming. what the hell. why are you even there if not for jonathan, people.
i seriously had the time of my life and i know for sure that i'll be back one day. amazing, beautiful, a little chaotic (just like this essay), but overall absolutely life changing. can't wait to see it again.

It is indeed very sad. I understand being skeptical but to dismiss the idea entirely seems excessive.
I actually talked about this topic in my most recent reply post.
I am probably one of the few people who will be supporting Kalafina no matter what. I am pretty sure I would like new music from them even if it wasn’t written by YK because my love for Kalafina as a group goes far beyond my appreciation for Yuki Kajiura’s music. I just love the girls themselves, their vocals and their harmony.
I sometimes have to wonder if all those so-called Kalafina fans really don't see anything of value in the members themselves... Are they just replaceable tools for Yuki to use? Because yes, Yuki's music is without a doubt very beautiful and an important part of what makes up Kalafina's current discography but that doesn't mean just anyone can sing it and do it proper justice. It's Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru who add a lot of the unique charm to Kalafina's music. They made it their own with their excellent ensemble work. The girls are a well-coordinated team, they know how to make each other shine and how to compensate for each other's weaknesses. Together they can create gorgeous harmonies and they don't necessarily need pointers from Yuki Kajiura anymore, they have long outgrown their apprentice role.
Would I prefer potential new releases to be written by YK? Of course! But I am also open-minded to the idea of other composers being invited to write/arrange for the girls. Yuki is not the only person on the planet capable of writing good music. It will probably be hit-and-miss but that would also be the case if YK were in charge of the music. After all, a lot of her music isn't particularly well-received (even among hardcore fans) so it's not like everything she touches instantly turns to gold.
Either way, it's completely pointless to get upset about this right now because so far, there are no concrete plans for future Kalafina releases, all we've got so far is the reunion live, nothing else. And from what we know, they will be singing existing Kalafina songs (written by Yuki Kajiura) during this concert.

Unless it's something super urgent that can't wait due to a certain deadline, I usually won't be replying right away. Happy 27th Birthday to the man who deserves a list of 27 reasons (he actually deserves billions) why I love him so much 💖
1. Chris is the most caring person alive. I don't mean this lightly either because to be as selfless and understanding as him takes more than just effort and time, it takes heart and patience (even though he says he has none - we all know he does, in bucketloads). It's weird when even though you don't know the person, you can see their character shine through so well by how they interact with others.
2. He is so kind to others. Being caring doesn't always equal being kind to people but Channie bridges that gap so well through how even when things go wrong or he isn't happy about something, he respects others enough to not let his emotions dictate his actions. He says he is impulsive but when it comes to serious business, he is calm and collected.
3. "Best father of 7 kids" "Oh yeah, who's mum?" "JYP"
4. Can we take a moment to appreciate how insane of a dancer he is??? Sure he isn't part of danceracha nor does he have a burning passion for dance for his solo stuff but WOW. CHRIS TAKE A BOW. I remember seeing Superbowl live and I have no idea what it was about that performance that made me go CHRISTOPHER CHAN. but it did and I've been reliving that moment for months.
5. His songs are too overpowered. WE NEED MORE CHAN POP PLEASE!!!! People hate on Connected and I hate to admit wayyy too much man but like SLUMP??? LEVANTER??? DRIVE??? RED LIGHTS??? 0325???? BLACK HOLE?????? ETERNITY????????????? The list goes on. Insanity.
6. The audacity of this man to say that his voice doesn't sound good- CHRIS! If I had to list my hobbies, I'm pretty sure 'listening to Railways' is high up that list, just so I can hear his voice.
7. Ummmm Bang Chan rapping??? Underrated.
8. We all know how amazing of a composer and producer he is but the fact that he urges non-3racha members to produce more and more is just so beautiful cause you can really see his influence on them and how they trust him to allow them to shine.
9. Him staring at the members from afar in surreal moments. That's it. That's the thing I love.
10. Bang Chansan speaking/singing in Japanese. When he did that cover of LiSA's Gurenge in SKZ Toy World fanmeet BROOOOOO I ASCENDEDDDD

This isn't even like a mild thing either because everyone who has the pleasure of meeting him always waxes poetic about how amazing he is: from people who have met him loads of times like Ryan Reynolds who said Chris is his bias since so so so long, to others who meet him once and fall in love like Chris Hemsworth and Nicholas Galitzine at the Fendi Show, his aura is crazy.
12. He is cute. As much as we all crinkle up into a ball when he acts like he is actually foive, LOWKEY LIKE REALLYYYYY LOWKEY he is adorable.
13. That interview with Young K is my comfort interview fr and I know that isn't a thing but now it is. He is truly the maknae of third gen idols and being a fourth gen leader can make him seem older than he is but he truly did 'give up his youth for his future' đŸ„č I'm glad it paid off - It's my favourite lyric cause it hits home so so much but I'm sure to him and the boys, it hits even harder - seeing that circle choreo for that 😭 chills literal chills
14. His smile đŸ„č Whenever I'm having a bad day, I have one Channie gif that I always come back to and it turns my day around, no matter how tough it is

16. He does need to love himself more but I know that he knows how much we love him. 17. His words. The way he says things to inspire us, I still go back to watch his Channies room episode where he talks about anger management because the advice he gives is really impactful. That could just be me because I know I get the best advice from people I admire so much but that can differ for different people
18. Would it be a Chris post if I didn't talk about how much Chan's room helped me? đŸ„č I understand and have made my peace but it was amazing. That's all I'll say on the matter because I know he misses it and he knows how much we do too.
19. His interactions with other idols. Whenever you hear an interview about other groups or idols meeting SKZ, they never fail to mention Channie because of how much of a welcoming and kind person he is, to everyone. Of course as Atiny, I would remember Hongjoong's words the most but to inspire people is a talent and Channie has that skill in the bag. (Also number 19 hehe 19 is such a bangerrrr)
20. His presence is such a comfort. I remember I was on Holiday abroad and that was the day he went live on Instagram, showing us his room and his hat collection and everything, and despite the time difference (hehe what's new?) me and my friends tuned in and it was so so amazing. Should I mention Channies room here again.... 👀đŸ„ČđŸ€Ł
21. He is very dependable. Watching the behind the scenes for this summer's festivals was testament to how reliable he is and how not only the members but the staff and the band members trust him to the extent that he was the main port of call if there were decisions to be made or if something went wrong.
22. He is so so so so so gosh darn handsome and I'm never gonna stop saying it, even after he believes it himself. I hope he knows we legit love him for him and we're not just here for his body or whatever else he jokes about. CHRIS WE LOVE YOUUUUU

It's been quite some time since I made a real update here and I wanted to come on and talk about what happened last year and the future of the project, which is very promising.
(read more added as things start a little heavy before they get better)
Last year I had to put production on sudden, complete hold because my mother became very ill and I became responsible for her entire life very rapidly.
This left her nearly blind on one side with complete blindness on the other. My mom is very dear to me and seeing her like that was extremely difficult for me. I'm incredibly fortunate with how strong she is and how hard she has worked to recover and I've been beside her the entire time, gradually giving things back to her as she could handle them.
And as I've handed things back to her, I've been able to pick up parts of my own life I had to set aside. And a big one of those things was this production.
In January, I picked the show back up and began tearing it apart. Took everything back down to the foundations and rewrote everything from scratch. Reconnected with my cast and crew. My musician and VA for Kadin moved to LA and had to leave the project, so I spent a month reviewing probably 2000 profiles to recast the role. I'm very, very lucky to have found Jaiden Azakai and he's since composed the new theme for the show as well as an original song for the first episode. (And I CAN'T WAIT to share it!)
The whole first season is written out and it's being chopped up and fleshed out into episodes now. Once I finish the current episode I'm writing, I'm going to be moving back into production again. If everything goes to plan, I'm looking to release the first three episodes in April of 2025, the anniversary of the original release.
Keep an eye out and know the fire is still burning â€ïžâ€đŸ”„
Thank you everyone for being so patient with me while I've been figuring out how to breathe again. It's still a lot a little stressful for me to be online, but I've got so much exciting news to come soon and I really can't wait to share it.

A companion song that was written to be in place of the final scene of "i will sing us home again", kind of like a musical number. When I was writing the final scene, it was the day after I had seen Wicked in theatres and then come home to find The Sound of Music on TV, and I was very much thinking musically. What could suit Janice and Melina more than a song?
Unfortunately, this is just an export from MuseScore, so the singers are not singing any lyrics, and my awfulness at composition is at last laid bare. I focused mostly on getting the melody down because figuring out how to compose for like half a dozen different instruments would be insane. Here is sheet music along w/ lyrics, and the lyrics to the song are also enclosed underneath the cut, along with little notes on what's supposed to be happening during breaks that I couldn't find out how to annotate through MuseScore.

Yixing: I think it's fan's support and my desire to see it.
Q. You started your promotion in Korea with your solo song "Psychic," which was released a few days ago.
Yixing: I really like it. I was really happy to show you myself after a long time on a stage that holds many memories. But it was such a shame about the first stage. I could have done better, but I think I always find problems after a performance. I will do better tomorrow. (laughs)
Q. Any interesting behind-the-scenes while preparing for the new song?
Yixing: If you watch the music video, you will see a camel. At first, you might think it's just cute, but it also means "safe love," so please watch it. Also, I hope you listen to the music a lot. There are English and Chinese versions as well, so please gives them various listens and enjoy them. (laughs)
Q. You have continued to write and compose songs. What kind of songs do you want people hear?

This playlist is an humble suggestion following the logic one chapter equals one track. I deliberately have chosen: - classic music because Dimitrescu's castle screams this style - instrumental or softer versions of pop/rock songs as Lady Beneviento doesn't like to speak or be flooded by words. Regarding the instruments, I can't help but associate Donna with strings since I'm convinced there are no better instruments to express grieve. Naturally, Bela is symbolised by the piano. Lastly, I didn't want to duplicate the playlist from the fanfiction The Great Morel Garden by Fitzeroy_McCandless. I can only advise you to read it and listen to the available playlist. Some songs are so on point!

Chapter 1: Hide and survive Moonlight Sonata - Lola & Hauser This iconic sonata composed by Ludwig van Beethoven is often associated with a sense of longing and introspection. I believe those are the perfect subjects for Donna's introduction. With this version, the two main instruments are present.
Chapter 2: Look at me Montagues and Capulets - Sergei Prokofiev, Richard Clayderman, Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, Deyan Pavlov The music initially composed by Prokofiev creates a sense of tension and pursuit. It sounds to me like a hazardous waltz. The rivalry atmosphere is a reference to the sisters' show of force and the dance is, of course, the little game where Donna try to keep Bela at bay. This version has a softer second phase with the addition of the piano so it can represent Bela's first appearance in Donna's life.
Chapter 3: Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me Running Up That Hill (Piano Arrangement) - Pianella Piano A classic pop song this time! Switching to Bela's POV so I have chosen a piano version. Neither her nor Donna understand the ins and outs of each other lifestyle. I don't believe Bela wants to swap their positions, she is not this desperate at this point, but she definitely wish to better understand Lady Beneviento.
Chapter 4: Enter Swan Lake - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky This chapter is quite dramatic: finding traitors in castle Dimitrescu, Cassandra's reaction, Bela handling the public massacre, Bela discovering Donna's portait, Bela being a victim of Lady Beneviento's pollen and her recovery. I believe we can hear the building in this music and the dramatic swells that foretell Bela's fight in the cold and future handicap while keeping a romantic undertone.
Chapter 5: What do you want from me? Breathe Me - Sia How about a sad, orchestral ballad about struggling and needing a friend for comfort? I believe it's perfect for this chapter.
Chapter 6: I can't wait to see you Je te laisserai des mots (Instrumental) - Daniella Vega Originally by Patrick Watson, the song is about writing and leaving letters to a dear one while not pressuring the receiver. It suits the Bela and Donna's epistolary relationship flawlessly. This music has a special place in my heart...
Chapter 7: Table for two? Le Festin - Dao Pham Inspired by the Pixar and Disney movie Ratatouille, I love the cosy and relaxing ambiance from this version. This first cooking session followed by the shared meal is their first homelike moment! I hesitated with a bossanova or a tarantella song but I found them too high-spirited for our favourite couple and the introduction of Donna's demons.
Chapter 8: Would you like to lead? Danse macabre - Camille Saint-Saëns, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Keith Clark Not particularly original, I concede. However it was impossible not to associate this emblematic piece of art with the masked ball at castle Dimitrescu.
Chapter 9: I do Kiss From a Rose - Vitamin String Quartet A rather mysterious song that remains unexplained by the singer-songwriter Seal. I suppose the interpretation is quite free in this case... The rose is, of course, a reference to Bela and the strings could express Donna's relief to be accepted. Overall, I support the idea of Bela lightning Donna's grey world.
Chapter 10: A woman and not a female monster Dies Irae - Giuseppe Verdi, Carmen Giannattasio, Veronica Simeoni, Alxander Timchenko, Carlo Colombara, Yuri Temirkanov, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra I know, so much the drama! I wanted to emphasise on ghosts (choristers) terrorising Donna and wrath building in Bela. The explosion is a reference to Bela's assaults. All the ingredients are here for a fated disaster.
Chapter 11: How dare he?! Dragon days - Vitamin String Quartet Alicia Keys originally compares a castle resident longing for a certain someone to being trapped in a dungeon. Something is in her way to pursue the relationship she wishes for, alas, she can't act and she can only wait. This topic can be applied to Bela and Donna in this chapter. I was looking for a piano version as it's Bela's POV (the dragon pun!) in the majority but this string version is too beautiful to not be selected.
Chapter 12: For Bela! Somewhere Only We Know - Vitamin String Quartet Once again, it's an alternative version by Vitamin String Quartet. Keane lead vocalist Tim Rice-Oxley revealed in 2004 that the song is about being able to draw strength from a place or experience you've shared with someone. I think the idea is perfectly in adequacy with Donna's new will to fight her demons in hope to become respectable once again.
Chapter 13: I trust you Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Epic Version) - Johann Sebastian Bach, L'Orchestra Cinematique, Alala Bach offers a fabulous piece with a dark and ominous tone. The menacing tone is accentuated with the percussion instruments in this version. I need a grandiose music for Lady Dimitrescu and her confrontation with Donna.
Chapter 14: You don’t need to hide Spectrum - Florence + The Machine It was impossible to not add a Florence + The Machine song as I think her unique universe in Ceremonials match perfectly with the ambiance I wish to write about. I wanted to show that the beladonna releationship reached the level when they both are confortable with the presence of each other even if not announced / invited. How Bela, and her family by extension, changed Donna’s quotidian and illuminated the gloomy manner as soon as they put a step in.
Chapter 15: Cara mia Delicate - Roma Symphony Orchestra My favourite song (for the moment) by Taylor Swift. The protagonists want desperately to not offend their new love interest. They need to be sure that nothing they do scare the other away. Bela and Donna, like any lover, fear of doing something wrong, being too much or not enough at the same time. This version is slower so it fits the slow burn dimension.
Chapter 16: Don’t leave... Don't Speak - Midnite String Quartet Another alternative version by Midnite String Quartet. A heartbreaking song by No Doubt that I think it suits Angie's situation. The doll shares a very special link with Donna. It's a pity it couldn't last and it hurts their dynamic even if Bela being a part of their life is an excellent reason. It's also a reference to the unnecessary need to physically talk between Donna and Angie.
Chapter 17: What if I’m broken, cara mia? BomBom (feat. The Teaching) - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis I bet you didn't expect this one! As there is no special explanation regarding this track, I associate it with a birth or something new. I think it goes well with a blooming romance and the most exploring phase.
chapter 18: You are all I need New Love (Instrumental) - Piano Dreamers Dua Lipa wrote about facing the fear of losing the only thing that matters to you. With this chapter, 'new love' can be understood as the next step in the relationship. Fighting a losing game (wrongly here) and searching for her place are the mindsets that Bela is in.
chapter 19: Beguiler Witch’s Brew - Peter Cincotti This song is a masterpiece, as well as the album (I could write a love letter to this chef-d’oeuvre), and the atmosphere is incredible. Well, I can only encourage you to listen to it.
chapter 20: I won’t endure a world without an us When Am I Gonna Lose You - Local Natives “The song is about the feeling of being in an amazing relationship but feeling the fear and anxiety that it can’t possibly last, whether just by twist of fate or because of your own self sabotage.” It’s exactly what I wish to express for this epilogue.

I've been thinking about this song a lot again since yesterday, and if you'll indulge me in being overly wordy and a bit sentimental, I kinda wanna share some of my thoughts here:
so I alluded to this a bit while rambling on bluesky earlier, but early in the process of composing this song I REALLY wanted it to have lyrics. I tried writing some, and having looked at them again this morning, frankly they're kinda garbage and I stand by my decision to scrap them and let the music just speak for itself. but I only really wanted to write lyrics in the first place because I got ONE specific line (and subsequently a chorus, or at least one version of it) stuck in my head and wanted the rest of the song to kinda revolve around it.
the scrapped verses were sorta loosely about how, when you're younger, you tend to have a very straightforward and simple sense of optimism and justice - kids generally believe that things WILL just work out somehow, and often have surprisingly obvious and on-point responses when they learn about societal issues, but adults will often talk down to them and tell them they just don't understand how the real world works yet. and as you get older, that optimism gets conflated heavily with childlike naivety and kinda gets metaphorically beaten out of a lot of people over time, until they're just kinda consigned to the status quo and thinking of societal problems being too large/permanent for them to fix or influence.
this song was meant to embody a sense of rebellious optimism - a stubborn belief that we have a say in the kind of world we live in, and furthermore that our inner child would never forgive us for shrugging and giving up now that we're finally Adults and Adults are supposed to be the ones with the power to actually Fix Things. it was meant to evoke some nostalgia too, sure - thus the title "Grass Stains", which came from the scrapped first verse about childhood, and also just the general musical style being reminiscent of pop punk music I really liked as a kid and still tend to associate with summertime and old video games from that era. but more than that, I wanted to convey the idea that, sooner or later, we have to stop waiting for the Adults to decide how to fix things and get a hand on the ball ourselves; the idea that growing up should empower us, not make us cynical and detached and too tired to care anymore.
anyways, I will spare you most of the unfinished lyrics because I really do promise they're not interesting or good at all, but here's the chorus part and the specific last line that I was really fixated on back then and (for reasons that are probably not hard to imagine) thinking a lot about again now:

you gotta change the world, before it changes you
so yeah. shit's rough out there right now. shit's been rough for a while and it's gonna continue being rough for the foreseeable future. like I mentioned in the original caption, i wrote this song when I was feeling pretty awful (both mentally and physically, actually - I'm pretty sure I had covid for the second time when I made this lol) and needed something to perk up my mood, and it... kinda worked honestly? and now when I listen to it again I still kinda get a boost from it, especially if I let myself think back to the original message I was trying to imbue it with. it's hard for me to feel totally hopeless or unmotivated while I'm listening to it, and I hope that energy sorta comes through for other people too (though I would obviously be just as happy that people like the music I made anyways, without deeper context or ideas attached to it).
I guess i just wanna say this: remember that the world's gonna change one way or another, but your contributions to it are never meaningless, and their absence would be felt. and you also have the power to embolden and support those around you to become a stronger force for good together. the only real way to fail in all of this is to give up and lay down and let whatever happens wash over you, to believe them when they treat you like you're too small to be a threat or a challenge. and even if you don't believe your efforts matter to anyone else, let them matter to you. if you want hope, then be it. strive to be a force for good in spite of all opposition, and that goodness will in turn continue to propel you forwards.

The blood in Jeongguk's lower lip was mocking him—telling him that once again, he fucked up.
Or at least this was what Park Jimin thought.
"So that's it, huh?" Your best friend rarely resort to violence—wait. This was wrong. Violence was never an option for Jimin, but he was making an exception tonight.
"You're just going to give up on her?" The older boy grabbed the collar of your soulmate's shirt.
Jimin was so mad he swore he could beat Jeongguk to a pulp.
How could Jeongguk be this dumb?
Jimin heard your conversation with your soulmate just a few breaths ago. He didn't plan to eavesdrop, it just happened.
Yoongi was the first one to know what happened to you. He was adamant to let you leave a while ago. He just had this weird feeling in his stomach that told him to check up on you.
His nightmare became a reality when he saw Jimin and Taehyung making out on the couch. You weren't with them and it only meant one thing: you left alone.
Yoongi was so mad at himself. He should have called you an uber or he should have driven you to wherever the hell you wanted to go.
This was partly his fault that's why he couldn't help but shudder in fear and regret when one of his staffs told him about what happened to you.
Police officers said you were under the influence of alcohol. Yoongi already knew this, but Taehyung and Jimin were still shocked.
They had no idea you left.
It actually took the three of them a long time to know what had happened to you. By the time they reached the hospital, they were already too late.
Jeongguk managed to make you cry over and over again.
What an asshole.
What kind of soulmate was Jeongguk? Were you really meant to be together? These questions were running inside your best friend's head. It had been answered when Jeongguk suddenly pushed Jimin away.
He wiped the blood in his bottom lip, smirking at his hyung.
"Who said I'm giving up on her?"
Jimin's jaw dropped. Jeongguk’s voice is full of confidence and determination.
"Y-You’re not?"
"No." Your soulmate said firmly. He couldn't. He wouldn't. Not when he was sure about what he felt for you, not when you needed him the most, and definitely not when you were giving up on him.
No. He should fight when you couldn't.
"Good," your best friend released a breath. He hated your soulmate for hurting you, but Jimin also knew that you loved Jeongguk—even if you told him otherwise.
This was the sad thing about the existence of soulmate that Jimin despised. The encouraging reminders like 'You should learn to love yourself,' and 'you don't need your soulmate to be happy,' would not apply.
It helped, yes. But your world was different. It would always feel like a part of you was missing when your soulmate didn’t love you back.
Humans were made to love and to feel loved. This reminded Jimin of the neon signage that's plastered on Genius Lab: I'm the island in this vast ocean, don't abandon me. This was Min Yoongi's idea. The bar owner always told him and everyone (really) that people were like island—they were able to provide—to extend their hands in this cold world.
They should never be abandoned because like any other things, they needed to be taken care of too.
"But what are you planning to do?" Jimin creased his forehead.
Jeongguk didn't even bat an eyelash when you told him to let you go. This was what annoyed Jimin. How could your soulmate be so silent about this? Why did he simply leave when you told him to go?
In Jeongguk's defense, he just didn't want to upset you any longer. He was aware that his presence was stressing you out. You should rest, especially because there's possibility that you might need to undergo an eye surgery.
Jeongguk's heart clenched once again. You were blind and you thought it was because he hated you.
It’s not true and he would change your mind.
"Seriously, Guk?" Taehyung shook his head, scowling. "This is your and my fiancé’s idea?"
"Don't get mad at Jimin-hyung. It's my idea." Jeongguk corrected his best friend. "Your soulmate is just helping me."
It had been days since the accident and you were aware that Jeongguk had been by your side all this time, not really by your side, per se, but he was around. He was patiently waiting outside of your room in this hospital, begging Jimin and your other loved ones to tell him what he could to help.
Today was the only time he left the hospital, as in the same day of your eye surgery.
Jeongguk swore he's not running away this time though. He was actually going to let you know that he would be staying with you. Forever.
"I can't let you do this, Jeon. I'm gonna lose my job if you fuck this one up!" Taehyung groaned.
"Hyung, please. This is really important!" Jeongguk was nervous. He was running out of time. Your surgery was in a few minutes and here he was, invading the studio where Taehyung worked as a DJ.
"This is going to be aired on national radio, Guk. As in the whole South Korea!"
"I know!" Jeongguk's eyes were blown wide. "This is exactly why I want to do this, hyung. I want everyone to know how I feel!"
If you couldn’t see, then maybe you could understand Jeongguk’s feelings by listening. He was willing to explore other senses just to make you believe.
"Fucking sappy!" In the end, Taehyung had no choice but to let his best friend proclaim his love for you.
Jeongguk smiled as he tapped the microphone, softly calling your name.
"It's Jeongguk. I know you don't want to hear from me, but I have something to say." Jeongguk grimaced. He seriously sucked when it came to expressing his emotions through words. "This will be quick, I promise. I just hope Jiminie-hyung is actually helping me out."
"Of course he is!" Taehyung shouted somewhere. Jimin wouldn't dare to ruin this for you. His task was simple anyway. He only needed to make sure that you were listening to the radio a few moments before your eye surgery.
You were nervous. Jimin wanted to help you calm down by making sure that you knew Jeongguk was not going to leave you alone in the cold.
"Anyway I know that I...well...I," your soulmate blushed. How should he describe himself? Was there a word that could emphasize his stupidity?
"I am an idiot." Jeongguk bit the inside of his cheek. This was the only adjective he could think of. "I am the idiot who hurt you and I know, I know...I don’t deserve your forgiveness because of how selfish I was—I mean, am. I still am."
He chuckled nervously. His heart was hammering.
"Call me selfish or whatever you want. I'm sure I deserve it anyway, but yeah...I'll be selfish again if this is the only way to let you know what I really feel about you."
Jeongguk cleared his throat as the beat of the music started to play.
"Why are my eyes filled with tears?” He sang.
This was a song composed by him. Of course he couldn't do this alone. Namjoon was the one who produced the beat of this song. He also helped his brother-in-law to write the lines. Ji-eun's father was a lyrical genius.
"Hey, stay by my side and laugh.” Jeongguk knew he was asking for too much. It was impossible to simply smile and stay with him—not after the hell he had put you through.
"A future without you is a world without color, filled with monochrome coldness." But this was the exact representation of what would happen if you weren't in his life.
Life would literally be black and white. Dull. Jeongguk knew how essential colors were in his life, yet if he was forced to choose between the hues and you, he would choose you in a heartbeat.
"Even the darkness we see is so beautiful. Please believe me."
Darkness was the absence of light. You were Jeongguk’s light. His life would be dark if you were not around.
He also knew you were going through the darkest time of your life, so he wanted this moment to still be beautiful.
He wanted you to believe that every hardship would pay off. You just had to believe.

Jeongguk wrote this line many months ago. It wasn't even meant to be lyrics to a song. These were simply the words he incorporated in his art.
Jeongguk was a soft person. He usually put cheesy captions in his paintings and drawings—the things he usually couldn’t verbalize.

It didn't matter that you lost hope. Jeongguk was sure he would make you believe in love again.
