ohhh tomm. tomm tiredmashbros, oh do you even know what has happened this, what, past half a year and counting? There has been so, so much improvement these past few months, whether that was to be art or even being able to grow the confidence to actually make a discord server and how well it is and how active it is to this day!!! It’s genuinely felt like it’s been so long, but truly only has been maybe about. since september so like 4 months maybe of the discord server? and so much has happened since then.

Onto the actual much deeper depths of paragraphs, you genuinely have changed my life in ways that I don’t think I could even achieve. Many days on vc’s, joking about the most random things, to the (about) most unexpected things, late night vc’s, the silly sleepover vc’s (technically late night... but shhhh), your paragraphs here, your just genuinely amazing self and personality. Even if you’re just another person in this world, I think you’re some of the best among everyone that I could’ve had the pleasure of getting to meet and know you.

I always loved the times when we vced and went “hey it’d be funny if we watched this video” then did that or, mainly, plan ahead and all. The pikmin iceberg (even if i fell asleep. whoops.), isaacwhy ltlvc, epic the musical, and so much more probably HSJDNSJ. I’ll always remember the first vc I was in with you, or at least the one that I think is the first since I think we both were muted then eventually unmuted JSIDJSSJ I still don’t remember who was all there... i think it’s really funny that like 1-2 months after that, we vced so much and literally couldn’t remember who was there in the first vc JSAKJSKDJD i think that vc was when we had that silly “IM NOT A TYPER” or something i think... I DONT HAVE THE ORIGINAL IMAGE SAVED RN JAHDJDSJ 💔💔💔 and i sounded in such despair because it was like 1 or 2 am for me and i had to be quiet... I always absolutely LOVE our vc’s together, even if i’m caught, i typically don’t actually feel that bad since it’s just like. augh. i have no idea how to explain it💔💔 but yeah 💥💥💥 —> EDIT HERE... I've been off anon once before, but I guess I thought with the comic finishing up (not counting epilogues) I'd do this officially finally! So...Hi! I just wanted to say this has been an absolutely incredible journey from start to finish. The art, the symbolism, the mystery all throughout, the CHARACTERS, it's all been absolutely breathtaking (Ranger and Hacksaw are still my favorites! Ranger and Hacksaw #1!!!) I've been here since the first issue, and you really did just wrap everything up perfectly (particularly thematically!) This last issue in particular I think is the only time I've teared up reading this comic? For very personal reasons, Slugpelt's "you should just leave me to die, I have nothing left and I can't bear this pain, don't make me continue" hit...really really home for me, haha. The following moments of Pinewing's "Can't you live for me? Can't your trust we'll have a million more moments that will make it equally worth living? Can I be enough for you, just for right now?" Because...Fuck, man! I've been there! I feel that!!! And I'm just so...immensely and insanely glad that Slugpelt did accept the tentative promise of a future, even if everything in that moment seemed so bleak for her. I dunno. It just means a whole lot to me, I guess. I also teared up around Corm and Pine's "can we just start over?" Not for any personal reasons, just because it's just SO sentimental and SO sincere, like fuck. "Hi I'm Pinewing, and I think I'm in love with you" "I'm Cormorantleaf and I think I'm in love with you too" gets me right in the chest! It's difficult to put into words how much love, trust, and absolute fucking earnestness is in that exchange but I just! Feel it! The weight and oozing fondness in those words!!! I feel it physically!!! Augh!!! That's all I wanted to say. Just, thank you for reading (if you did read it! Busy schedule, real life, I get it,) and thank you so much for making this. It's been a hell of a ride, and I've enjoyed every moment so so much. P.S. one time this comic activated my autism so bad I made a point of trying to remember the names of every issue (up to 14 or 15, I think) in order while I was out in the middle of the woods and no computer access. I never got around to saying that at the time but the point is PATFW good and I like it a very normal amount lol

I'm a writer who loves tragedy and horror and things like that, but at the end of the day I am also a pretty sentimental and earnest person and I like having characters who get to experience happiness and get to live their lives how they want. Maybe I'm a sap.

P.S. That really makes me laugh, I love it. How'd it make you feel if I said I could commiserate - there have been plenty of times when I've been at work when it's slow or otherwise bored and I'll just start listing the names of every single issue in order, over and over, for fun? Haha, I love this comic just as much as everyone else.

when you see the cook, the thief, his wife & her lover, you do think: oh my god, they copied this in the riddle of the sphinx. happily, in the podcast episode about it, around 20:30, they talk about just how minute the imitation is

there's a bit when the fork sort of catches on his lip, and i was really trying to recreate that. the sort of – augh. (the dry mouth.) it's just horrible.

even beyond this moment – you can see the influence on the character / performance / look (especially the look), and on the ep as a whole. the gambon character is not exactly a squires type, but they share a smugness, explicit ownership of the space, a sexual creepiness, and of course they both get forced into cannibalism as a sort of symbolic comeuppance before getting shot in the face. (steve's actual impression of him is really good & very different!)

recently i swear i read something where reece was talking about squires's hair, how it was steve's own hair & he grew it longer than it's ever been – if anyone knows where that was pls remind me 😭 anyways if you look at gambon in the movie it becomes really clear why he did that. great look imo ... i like him playing guys who are secretly horrible, she said, surprising nobody

though i don't know if they've ever explicitly said so, i think another peter greenaway film – the draughtsman's contract – was a clear influence on curse of the ninth. the working artist (sort of) being brought onto the estate & tricked/blackmailed into some rich people's convoluted scheme... the awful personal cost of making art, the sexy rich widow...

Hi! Joining on the previous Anon to say that the reverse Werewolf/Vampire au is REALLY clicking with me.

Vi is already a character living unambiguously as herself, so being a vampire actively living life, fighting for food where she can get it, and Caitlyn, a character who grew up in a restricting environment as someone with so much life in her that she can't let out without being seen as a beast, finally finding the ability to be open and "free" with someone as unambiguously free as Vi, and giving her what she's been fighting for her whole life, while getting from Vi what she needs, aka a person who Gets It and doesn't judge Caitlyn for showing that side of herself), is mwah, perfect and I love how it delves into characterisation of them that you don't see in the "traditional" Caitvi werewolf/vampire au.

There they more so play into the character's vibes, but this au I feel like actually delves moreso into the characterisation.

Also consuming stuff from this au is like self indulgent stuff for me. It's my bed time story and whenever I see new stuff from it I kick my feet and giggle. And I just generally love your art style! Might try to change my own (been considering it for a while) and lean into your general direction, it's really inspiring and fun to look at. You get Vi and Cait so right in my opinion, it's ridiculous

AUGH YOU GET IT!!!! it's difficult for me to explain my thoughts on how this au would work compared to the "regular" version but i'm glad you got those thoughts exactly :'D

honestly, this au's intention was to just see how it'd work if the usual roles they were given was flipped and not much else thought LOL. so my doodles are mostly just "arcane but these two are a vampire/ werewolf and not the way everyone else sees them as" instead of something w/ a completely different universe/ story (w/ a few personal HCs but still… maybe i'll make something w/ more substance someday?). i just kinda hope thoughts like these would one day have others consider using this au as a set up for their own ideas (please show me if you do…)! and don't get me me wrong, i still love the regular vampire/ werewolf aus that people make and i also think it works in its own way, but i'm glad that me and others like the reversed au to muse over how the characterization would work alongside it and also to just to be self indulgent :')

Okay I have a lot to say here, but I’m gonna try to make it brief (which is really hard for me, sorry)

WOAH DAWG. Your art has inspired me more than I can even express. My hardcore Star Trek phase started right around this time last year. Like, obviously I knew what Star Trek was, but I’d never seen it, so I started with TOS, and after the first three episodes, I was like, yeah, okay, Spock and Kirk are super gay, but their boyfriend Bones is obviously their boyfriend, too. 

So I looked up the fated “McSpirk”, and your art popped up. Boom. Life changed. 

To make a long story short, I practiced and practiced, and slowly (kind of) learned how to draw them (totally based off of your style, yeah, I’m sorry bro there’s like a lot of plagiarised versions of your drawings in old sketchbooks. 😬Don’t worry though, they’re really bad, so no one would mistake them for the original)

And ALSO like a good chunk of my fanfiction has been inspired by your art. So… thank you!

Now, I think, I’ve developed a style of drawing them that’s just far enough from yours that maybe it’s not too obvious that I learned how to draw McSpirk from meticulously studying your art? Probably not, though. But the point is basically: your art is fantastic and so soo edible. 

Ps. I ACTUALLy am a liar, because I’d seen your reanimator fanart before your Star Trek stuff! I was waaayy into reanimator a while ago (still am, just more fixated on other things), and your art was all over my pinterest. i’m really inspired by how creative the cj fandom is. no design is superior over another ofc, as how people interpret the characters reflect what they like and see the fellas as. interpretation is an art form! wow. writing that makes me realize that chonny’s fandom came from him interpreting music into his own thing (and ergo hms narrative), and then the fans interpret that narrative into their own thing. the loop never ends 😔💀/silly

NOW favourite aspects,, there are a lot of things i love seeing on different hmsw designs but one thing i will always be insane for is when people make them look distinctly inhuman,, i will forever preach about robot/android mind or creature animal heart or whatever the fuck soul is (empty vessel?) because whatever they are they're NOT humans!!! not entirely!! and i love when people write this into their behaviour too! making mind stiff and speak more robotically while heart is always fidgeting and jittery and he has claws and these massive uncontrollable wings.. auaygauaghj

another thing is when people include aspects/colors from the others into their designs,,,.... for example heart with red accents or mind with purple accents and so on..,, or better yet when people include orange in their designs AUGH. it's so good

CELESTIAL THEMING IS ALWAYS BANGER of course heart and mind as the moon and sun is absolutely perfect, but i also like when people throw other planets into the mix?? and i love soul as the stars, it fits him well, but i'm personally subscribed to the headcanon of soul as the sky,, which holds the sun and moon,,,,

something i do personally is to always break up their faces, if that makes sense? with heart's blindfold, mind's screen and soul's shadow/clouds ...,, the face is something that makes your brain recognize what you're seeing as a fellow human, but as previously stated, i love when there's something Wrong with them, so maybe their faces being broken up makes them look much less human...,, hehehe

there are countless things that i love to see on these character designs and if i wanted to rattle them all off we'd be here forever. but i'm just saying, i haven't seen a single design that i haven't liked!!!!! i'm talking a lot about visual details here because once i get started on their psychology i never shut up and i don't want this post to be too long HJAHAHHA but yeah!! cheers!

So when Stella found out that Jack would be going to the devils, she of course had to do her research. And let’s just say she went down the rabbit hole for Nico hischier, like she literally started giggling when she saw his picture when she searched the team up.

Love at first sight for real! CAN YOU BLAME HER???

When Stella did finally get to meet Nico, she was a blushing and stuttering mess as he introduced himself to her with a smile. Quinn who quickly noticed why she was acting like that tried to help her out by saying ‘sorry she gets a little shy’

Nico was sweet about it and said it’s no problem and that it’s nice to meet her (aUgh he’s so perfect) Jack was giving Stella a confused look, he knows she’s shy but she’s never been this…awestruck? He immediately doesn’t like it.

Obviously stella and nico got closer over the years, Jack and stella are very close(obvi!) and she always tried to come visit jack, meaning that she would also see nico! Nico would also come and visit sometimes, they were all close!

Also over the years, Stella’s crush on Nico was very well known…by like literally everyone! She’s not very good at keeping it a secret. She and everyone knows that nothing would happen from it. Nico finds it very sweet and adorable.

They are very close! It’s honestly feels like they have known each other for years! They are each other’s biggest fan, Nico loves and keeps all her art work she’s given him safe, and he loves watching all her figure skating videos, always texting her what he thinks of it!

Now that Luke and Jack play on the same team, Stella finds it hard picking what brother’s jersey she’s going to wear, so most of the time she wears Nicos!

Stella and nicos interactions go viral a lot, especially on tiktok, fans go crazy for there interactions!

Nico always gets shy and laughes when ever Stella says I love you before she hangs up on there calls, he always says it back. He honestly thinks of her as a little sister.

Nico loves teaching her Swiss German

And Stella loves hugging Nico, he honestly gives the best hugs!! 😫

They both find it hilarious how jealous Jack gets, Jack likes to make it clear that he’s still Stella’s favorite and that’s she’s HIS little sister

Nico is one of the few people she actually likes calling her Estella

They are just very sweet in general, they have a great friendship!

He once took Stella to a cat cafe and she cried, she reminds him of a cat tbh.

Stella is always liking and commenting on edits of him!

KINGER WOULD BANG UZIS MOM PROVE ME WRONG

Turns out I’m not gonna shut up about Kinger x Uzis Mom.

Listen, I’m a Checkmate shipper and you know that very well, I’m the 80k-on-ao3-never-going-to-shut-the-fuck-up-about-it patron fucking saint of Checkmate shippers, but I know a good dynamic when I see one!!!

Take Canon Kinger— no frills, no headcanons no whatsits. We can all agree that in canon, he’s very gentle and patient (as ep 3 displays) and if you take that as his true self— ignoring his more twitchy nature when his trauma is suppressed to the point of dissociation— and follow that thread a bit farther down a hypothetical character arc where he actually learns to function again, you get a kind, gentle, really fucking tired guy who likes computers and is pretty experienced relationship wise. He’s PERFECT for Uzis mom. He’s patient, kind, autistic, not obsessed with doors, autistic…

Think about it. She’s trapped in essentially her own nervous system with a few claws on it. He’s trapped in a hunk of wood with rayman hands. Neither of them have a mouth, so no problems there! She’s very wild and skittish and all over the place, clearly not very good with the whole “emotional vulnerability” thing, but very gruff and dependable in the right situations— Kinger is very gentle and kind and patient, with a lot of experience with traumatized people and relationships because. Marriage. Plus, he loves insects and willingly touched an abstraction at least once, so there’s no way he’d be disgusted by her, right? And she’s a literal ex robot, so there’s no “AUGH i would TOTALLY love you but youre all hard and cold wahhh :’[”

Also, like. he’s clearly very lonely. Also SHES clearly very lonely. Also Uzi definitely needs a semi stable father figure who will go “what. What th— excuse me???” When she tells him about what the LAST dad did. Cmon. He’d be the perfect step dad, right?? LOOK at him, he was born to be somebody’s fun uncle at LEAST!

In the shows INDISPUTABLE canon, Queenie is dead and gone, for good, no takebacksies, at least as of ep3. I of course ignore this to high hell, but in this pairing it works in our favor! There’s gold in these hills, dammit!

I mean, please note I know nothing about Murder Drones lore, and as I said I’m on the Queenie/Kinger train and will be on said train until I die— But as somebody who likes crossovers and is unhinged, if there’s someone out there willing to write a fic, hit me up. I’ll make art for it.
