i think one of my goals this year should be to not buy any books lol

with the only exception being if i’m finishing a series that i’m currently reading this year lol (i have a few where i have the first of a series or the first two and i’m worried if i start them this year and then never finish them if i get hooked and don’t have the next one)

i’m hoping i can stick with it lol hopefully getting a new sanderson book every couple of months will sate my desire for more books…though right now i really want to buy the rest of the mistborn era 1 hardback lol i want my sanderson shelf to be pretty/complete for the new books…but no. i’m gonna make myself wait lol

My objective this year is to finish every book I own that I haven't read yet. I've had some of them since highschool so it's been... a while

It's a total of 30 books in 11 months (from February to December, I fucked around on January), which is absolutely within my usual reading achievements, but I'll definitely be tempted to read anything else so I really need to focus looking at you ao3

For now I've read 4 out of the 30 so it looks like I'm struggling, but I've spread them over the year depending on their word count and the biggest one is already out, so I'm actually on schedule!

why is giving family members a small wishlist so much more tedious than it has to be

My family has been trying to get me to put together a holiday gift guide and I keep putting it off because I can’t really think of anything gift-wise that I’d need. Like, the major commodity I work with is books, none of which my family will buy (even though it’s directly tied to my work they’ve never seen that as something worth getting as a gift…for some reason). And I read most of my books as pirated PDFs now anyway, so…?

And I’m looking at a couple of recommended gift guides just to get some idea of what someone might put on a list and there’s just *so much junk*. Like, an absolutely preposterous amount of useless nonsense: overpriced gadgets for people that can actually afford a home, useless knickknacks to add more clutter to your home, curated lists of items put together by ‘influencers’. Truly horrible.

just realised that the first media we consumed that made us REALLY sympathetic for the monster was that fucking point and click Mystery Case Files Ravenhearst game. bc that entire game i was legitimately fucking TERRIFIED of the ghost lady in that game but the second i found out her husband was abusive i doubled down on trying to help her escape. and the ending of that game Did make me cry out of fear but hey at least i did in fact help her escape
