After the defeat of Kronos, the Olympian brothers drew lots to determine who would have control over the various domains. As the one to defeat Kronos, Zeus drew first and drew well. He became the ruler of the skies, the king of the Olympians, wielder of lightning. No one was entirely surprised, and no one dare protest.

Aidoneus drew next, with Poseidon taking the remainder after drawing the proverbial short straw. Although Poseidon felt drawn to the seas and the power that lay within them, Aidoneus had first pick and beat him to the punch. All that remained was Hades, the Underworld, the land of the dead. And Poseidon's new home.

He did not take well to his position at first. The Underworld was dark, gloomy, and rather lonely. Most days, the only company Poseidon found himself with was the dead. Ghosts could only keep him entertained for so long, however, and the Sea still called to him. So, after a while, Poseidon began making trips to the surface and the mortal world. Although the humans always seemed to be scared of him, they fascinated Poseidon. It was so rare to see living mortals instead of the souls he usually conversed with. And it was... nice. The gloom he was used to finally slipping away with a bit of light. He never found love, never truly looked for it; he never married. He did have several dalliances with mortals and other divine beings, however. But it was never anything more than a way to pass the time.

Centuries passed in this way, with Poseidon resigned to his lonely existence. Until one day, he saw her. She was different than anyone he had met before - not mortal in any way, but also not quite divine. He wasn't entirely sure what she was, but he knew one thing immediately.

He wanted her. He wanted her in a way he had never wanted any other being.

And so, emboldened by this new feeling, Poseidon made a plan. For several days he watched this young woman until he felt he knew her well. Until he was even more certain that she must be his. She was sweet, and so trusting. He knew it would not be hard to convince her to come with him.

As he finally approached the young woman for the first time, he couldn't help but self-consciously smooth his hair, making sure it was not untidy as he met her. A charming smile painted itself on his lips as he walked towards on the shore.

"Excuse, miss? Do you have a moment that you could assist me with something?" he called out to her, only feet away now. It was now or never, he thought. And if everything went according to plan, this woman would be his wife by the end of the day.

I just sent this to everyone I know (slight exaggeration). This is so me right now. I bought 4 copies of Muse and just attended my first K-pop concert last night. Me from a year ago would have bet a MILLION dollars that I would not be here right now. I don’t even know who I am, but I love it so much and have a level of joy in my life that I didn’t know was possible. lol

Now if there was just a faster way to learn Korean…
