I have a confession to make!! I actually looked it up after getting this ask, and apparently I was mistaken. My meds are not technically classified as mood stabilizers, so I’m sorry for that little inaccuracy. And with that said, take this with a grain of salt, as this is based on the experiences of others, and the experiences I have with my own meds!

Anyways, Ghost on mood stabilizers. His quality of life is noticeably improved, but I imagine he really struggles with the idea of “am I still the real me if I’m being medicated?”. It’s from a lack of self compassion— he would never impose a standard or judgement like that on someone else for their treatment. Just himself. He sometimes feels like him taking meds is tricking you— that he’s hiding how hideous he really is inside.

He already had difficulty identifying his feelings before, and sometimes it’s harder now. He’s no longer as paranoid, as angry, as upset, he suffers from less insomnia and mania, so overall it’s a big step above where he was before. But he has days where he feels like there’s kind some static over him where he’s not experiencing the full world— where things just don’t affect him the way he’s come to expect.

You’re his best friend on those days. Just glued to him, giving him quiet activities he can lose himself in a little. I am a firm believer that Ghost loves B-movies, and you put on a marathon for the two of you to just amble along to. He’ll hold you, or you’ll do a puzzle or something if he needs something to stimulate him a little more. You know not to ask him to choose what’s for dinner, you just order in something you know he likes. He’s able to lie down and go to sleep, not overjoyed or anything, but contented, and that’s a more secure feeling than what he started the day with.

so. i forgot to say. skeptic IS a detective. a pi. a gumshoe. a dick, if you will. but i guess thats sort of implied already. i just wanted to state it clearly.

but anyways.

this whole thing was made bc im so fucking insane about the cage chapter. the themes about being a slave to fate and how our actions are not our own and losing control of yourself and your life. just. ugh. it speaks to me a lot. and ofc skeptic being an old timey detective is so universal. i joke about hating him but i Do like him and find him interesting. i want to put him in situations.

and thats what this whole au is. putting skeptic in situations. hearing new perspectives, having his theories proven wrong, dealing with uncooperative suspects, red herrings. i love when hes wrong or ignored or otherwise slighted. he seems very. sure of himself? not an arrogant fool, but more. a guy who hasnt been wrong before. ykno. and i think ur typical film noir (with slay the princess elements like cycles and fate) is just a really natural fit to explore all that.

but its Also about playing with the whole "perception based creature" thing that the princess has going on. i Love "character nobody really knows" and the princess, with her multiple forms and fluid personality, works Rlly rlly well with this concept. i love the princess and i think she deserves to be a mysterious "haunting the narrative" type character. shes like a spy with multiple disguises. or someone in witness protection.

and also bartender hero lives in my mind like a parasite. oh my god that reminds me i need to talk about the others ok.

hero is the bartender (as stated before) of "the long quiet" bc i think its funny theyre still in tlq even in this silly film noir au.

stubborn is the bouncer/bodyguard/whatever the fuck you call it. he kicks ppl out when they get too rowdy.

cheated is The regular there. he either sits at a table and mopes or gets roped into a card game with opportunist that results in both of them being kicked out (theres always blood drawn).

opportunist is a conman/snake oil salesman whos only still allowed bc hero is too nice and opp is too good at buttering ppl up.

smitten is a tortured artist, lamenting to anyone who will listen about his lost love and muse. he is never paying his damn tab, but again, hero is too nice.

cold is a mysterious figure who only visits the bar like. once a month. he barely talks to anyone and only drinks water. (hes an assassin LOL)

broken is the local priest (the god is shifty btw) who only visits bc hero told him to get out more. he doesnt drink either. he just looks vaguely haunted.

contrarian is a guy whos hard to pin down. you cant find him, you just have to pray he appears ykno. the only people who Know him are hero and cold, but hero refuses to divulge anything abt him and cold is just. Cold. ykno.

paranoid is skeptic's partner (lol) and secretary. he does half the work around the office (maybe more) and lives with skeptic. he complains and protests and threatens to quit, but its all bark. hes very loyal. to his own frustration.

now im going to be honest. hunted is Super difficult to put in this au. given his role as a fight or flight, base animal instinct type, he cant be fit into an au like this very easily. ive considered a hunter, but that doesnt fit him at all. so. im a hack and i should delete my tumblr.

but no seriously hunted is very difficult. ALSO. THE NARRATOR. ive been thinking if i should add him and how prevelant he should be and what he would be like. if he should be in the bar or if skeptic would need to meet him somewhere else. maybe hes the villain ykno. but im. not sure and i dont wanna make the whole thing Too big ykno. i swear its not just bc i dont like him (joke (hes fun to hate (but also i hate him), i genuinely am stuck on what to do with him.

Second, you absolutely deserve all of the attention you're getting. You're seriously an incredible artist, and I love the fact that a lot of your art is on paper. I especially love how Donnie looks in your style (which is funny, because I remember you saying that you DIDN'T like it). Ahem. Getting off track a bit there. Anyways. You're an incredible artist, and all of the attention is well earned, AND it's okay to feel overwhelmed. I hope you know that we don't expect you to answer everything right away. You're popular, and lots of people are asking you to do things. You can choose to not do something, and you SHOULD. Do what inspires you, and we'll love it!

Third, and hopefully finally. I play with character AIs a lot, just to kind of see how characters would react to certain things. I AM an author, and I can imagine these things myself, but I like seeing it from external sources more. It almost seems more believable. When a human comes up with it, it just feels more raw and expressive. Or something. I have no clue what I'm saying; hopefully it's not too muddled. Then, when someone DRAWS it. It's a thousand times better. I just love it so much!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I love how we can give you prompts and questions, and you'll go somewhere amazing with it. I loved the thing with Leo, Donnie, and the coffee. My thanks goes out to you and the asker. It's a huge gift to us when you respond. Literally, it's like a present, I love it.

GARRETT CLIVESDALE - "THE MARKSMEN NEVER MISS!"

If you've come here from my main, I posted a small description of him. If not, let me run down the basics of garry :33

Garrett Clivesdale was a professional baseball player playing for a team known as the Red Marksmen, a local baseball team carrying home a winning streak. Garrett is awfully arrogant about the winstreak and tends to boast about it a lot, though this just makes him come off as a bratty child at times. He's very passionate about baseball and tends to talk about it when no one cares. He's overconfident and believes he's on top of the world, and WILL get pissy when he fails. However, he holds grudges and tends to be really petty and rude to people he believes are his enemies :( He is quite nice to people he likes though, and will always try to spoil them... Mainly with food. Especially burgers. If you wanna get with him enjoy burger dates forever theyre his favorite food

ESPEN SOLHEIM - "...Wait, what was I gonna...? Wait--"

Espen is another news reporter (I made him before I remembered Isaack was a reporter... they're coworkers now :).) He's paranoid and timid, a stark contrast from his cheerful ID photo. Constantly seeking affirmation from others, he's constantly unsure of himself and always overthinking. He actually found out about doppelgangers a few months before measures began to be taken to keep people safe from them, and since then he has grown to be a shell of his former self, still holding scars from his first doppelganger encounter. He's scared of new people and often sticks to people he's familiar with, see Harvey.

COLE WAGNER - "Oh, I've been waiting for an opportunity like this~ I'm so excited..."

Cole is a waiter at Nana's, a diner near the apartment complex that Garrett is a diehard regular at. As a result, the two are close friends. Cole himself is cheerful and outgoing, if not a bit mischievous and enjoys drama. He's known for spreading rumors and misinformation with the guests at Nana's. However, his laid-back and cheerful attitude remains even in serious events, and he often lets jokes slip when he's not supposed to. He doesn't like being serious because he gets really awkward in those scenarios. He's also very loud and annoying.

AGATHA BARNES - "Nothing to be afraid of, no need to worry."

Agatha is a photographer, though she usually dresses like the models she photographs. She's friendly and often hypes others up, constantly attempting to bring good vibes. She's similar to Cole in a way that she enjoys the company of others, but when she gets serious, she becomes uncharacteristically stern. I honestly have no idea what else to say for her besides the fact she's basically a mom friend.

HARVEY CLARENCE - "I was forced to be on this god forsaken blog."

Harvey is the doorman to the complex (for my au (do i even call it that?) at least). Stoic and lacking a sense of humor. He's not easily persuaded and is often incredibly stubborn.

OLIVER GRANTHAM - "A lovely little feast, all laid out for me...?!"

Oliver is a doppelganger who had replaced one of the D.D.D.'s cleaners. Since cleaners usually wear a hazmat suit, and since Oliver took the real one's ID, he wasn't noticed until he took off the suit, giving away his bright pink eyes (that he has since pink is his favorite color). He now dons a mouth-only gas mask to tell him apart from the others, mainly because he's under heavy supervision all the time. Childish, excitable, curious, yet stupid, it's a miracle how he managed to infiltrate D.D.D. ranks. He doesn't seem to be hostile to humans, though, but he was practically taught to attack doppelgangers. He thinks a certain few r cool tho :)

UMMMMM to be completely honest with you ALL of my ocs are in constant states of reworking LMAO they’re hardly ever complete!!! there’s always little minor changes being made all of the time…….. i’m not too sure who took the longest to come up with i’ll be entirely honest just because they mostly come to be like prophetic visions in the middle of the day BUT YOU KNOW WHAT. ryobe took a bit of reworking LMAOO. went from the ultimate tv host to the ultimate prankster to the ultimate content creator, design changed up a whole bunch, PERSONALITY got switch up

THREE: whose arc took the longest to come up with/who still doesn’t have an arc?

UMMMMM honestly as of right now probably sadie LMAOO purely because she’s an rp character that’s in the middle of an arc right now!! however with sae and erin (my other two rp characters) i had a pretty solid idea of what i wanted their arcs to look like (pippy progressing into erin, sae taking on more of her fathers temper). with sadie i ALSO had a few ideas, however it just so happened that chapter 2 fucked her up BAD STYLE and how her arc inevitably ends will depend on how things progress………. teehee :) other than rp ocs i think ries whole deal didn’t really click for me for a bit either, but i really like how tragic it is that when she does truly learn to step away from the persona she had created it leads to her class voting incorrectly and getting sentenced to death . awesome sauce!

so!!! in Project Strangelove (which may be known as How to Stop Worrying) you are, essentially, managing your own little conspiracy towards any goal ranging from small-time nuisances all the way to like global government scheme level conspiracy organisation. a silly lil spoof on spy thrillers if you will!!

explanation of da concept below!!! topics of paranoia n stuffs are mentioned here btw !!

you'll have to manage your employees and your home base of operations, and you'll have to manage it well because depending on what you do, it could either spell your own doom as an organisation OR shoot you into the stratosphere!! for example if you choose to build your base in a shoddy location or you dont really give it enough support if its like an underground base, you could get a game over purely because your base either got tracked down or it just caved in fhdjfks

another thing is that you'll be competing with other smaller or larger conspiracies, national powers etc!! (note that this is not other players - these would be in-game, preset conspiracies)

you could possibly lose employees and resources to these other conspiracy groups, you could game over to them etc etc. but a little detail we decided would be cool to add is that when you die or game over, the ending certificate that slides in will be themed around whichever conspiracy you had the most rivalry with (aka how much trouble they've caused you, how much you two have interacted, the tension between groups etc.)

oh and!!! you also gotta treat your employees right :3 or the employees of your group may unionize and fight against you for control over the conspiracy, for their rights etc. and it would be Very Detrimental so,,,, make sure to treat ur workers right!! definitely not a projection of real world occurrences

this game wants to play off of the paranoia of the player as well!!! while PARANOIA isn't inherently a mechanic that would be in the game - it would definitely be an internal value that changes things in game (more specifically, the wording!!! to make things sound more/less risky to make the player more likely to make bad decisions teehee)

the more paranoid and locked-in, no risks allowed someone plays, the slower they'll progress and the more they risk potentially having employees leave or change their minds and unionize etc. but on the opposite side, if you play TOO care-free and takes a lotta risks, then it makes it very highly likely that the players base of operations is found, theyre taken under custody by the national powers, stuff like that. ideally a player will want to be just paranoid enough but still not worrying over EVERYTHING to actually make some good progress and stuffs (eh? eh? perhaps they... learn How To Stop Worrying? ehhhh?) but yeah. summary of that is just, player needs to be paranoid but not too paranoid in order to progress at a productive pace

and ik all of this sounds suuper duper serious(ish) but in-game it kinda takes the piss at itself and doesnt take itself THAT seriously - its silly but still semi-serious kinda

Is Skeptic/Paranoid random enough? I did literally just spin a wheel

this is so fun bc. i literally just talked abt how this is my only paranoid ship (in the "actively think about" way). so yes i will be doing this one first, i never said i wasnt going to play favorites.

so. the cage altered my fucking brain chemistry. the way they interact in it just. oh my god.

they're both very similar in a way i think. theyre both very cautious and skeptical (LOL), but while skeptic is kind of detective-y abt it, paranoid is sort of like. a conspiracy theorist. skeptic definitely has shades of that but paranoid is The pepe silvia voice. i think they coukd make each other so much worse (said while kicking my feet and giggling and twirling my hair).

i think another aspect of it, at least to my twisted mind, is like. teehee ok so ykno detective stories and film noir and like. how snarky and independant the women are most of the time. thats paranoid to me. para has a pencil skirt and heels and does things for skeptic no sane person would just bc he finds him attractive.

i guess its less of like. a ship. and more like paranoid going thru every stage of grief every time skeptic opens his mouth bc he remembers "oh fuck i am actually attracted to this fuck". but to be fair, thats how i imagine para'd react to any crush. i cant imagine he'd be normal about emotions like that.

so in conclusion: should they kiss? probably not. do they kiss? no clue. do i think paranoid sleeps in a double bed alone every night bc skeptic stays up every night doing god knows what and its effecting their marriage but paranoid stays despite it all? yeah. Yeah absolutely.
