im usually inclined to ignore idiotic messages like this but are you actually for fucking real? you realise i AM a fic writer? and that i have talked plenty of times before about the importance of engaging with fic writers and fandom creators in all their forms?

my issue, seeing as you apparently cannot read, is when people start begging for followers in return for posting fic. like “I won’t post until I hit 4k followers!!!” kind of schtick because I think that’s incredibly disingenuous behaviour and it doesn’t sit right with me.

I truly don’t care if you agree with me or not but if you’d taken a second to look at my blog and realise I am both a fic writer and one entirely unopposed to self promotion given how much I reblog my own fic as a means to promote engagement with it, you’d realise I obviously don’t hate fic writers. but you’re just piling on with all the other people in the tags of that post reblogging that condescending as fuck essay that someone added calling me stupid for having the audacity to think that certain kinds of behaviour are terribly disingenuous and negatively impact on the value we place on creative endeavours.

cat advice

Being a "crazy cat person" is a fun concept. It's funny as a joke. I'm fully in sympathy with owning cats, even multiple cats.

But, there is a dark side. Like everything, common sense has to prevail. For the sake of your cats, restraint and planning is necessary.

My mother lived with her boyfriend for about twenty years. He spent the last two or three years of his life collecting cats. He took in any and every one that was offered to him. At the time of his death, he and my mom owned at least twelve cats. And, one dog. Unfortunately, her boyfriend drank heavily and didn't help take care of the house. Mom has bad asthma, balance issues, memory problems, and shakes badly. She probably has Parkinson's. So, their house was a literally stinking mess. The newer cats were not spayed or neutered. They were in the habit of peeing and pooping everywhere. There was, when we moved the couch, probably ten to twenty pounds of cat poop behind it.

After her boyfriend died, Mom came to live with me. She really isn't well enough to live alone and certainly not alone in that place with so many animals. I felt terrible about it, but I did not let her bring all of her cats. We brought home the dog and three of her cats. One of my cats died shortly after, so we now have a total of four cats and a dog. And, they are all doing their business where they are supposed to.

That does not mean they are adjusting easily. The kitten of the group is weaned, eats cat food just fine, but still got taken from his mom. He plays a lot, but isn't very affectionate. That might change once he's neutered and more familiar with everyone. One of the cats wanders around, crying for the other cats. I think one of them might have been his sibling, but I'm not positive. There were too many cats to keep track of. But, it's been hard on all of them. They're insecure and adjusting to life with my cat, who does not like other animals.

Things will get better. We're taking good care of them and giving them lots of love. But, still. Collecting that many cats did them more harm than good, in the long run. Most of them will probably be permanently separated from the others. I feel bad for Tigger, who keeps looking for his bed/playmates.

So, please, for the sake of the animals you love, think ahead. Plan for what happens to them, if anything happens to you. If possible, make sure there is at least one person they are friendly/bonded with, who can take them, if anything happens.

Wanting to run to her arms after rituals and kiss her where everyone could see.

Mist watches them from afar, from the protective cocoon of her packmates, as she moves on, falls in love, gets married, has a beautiful daughter.
