- “Starship Defiant” ?!? Like DS9 ?!?

- Ghost ship

- The suits are goofy I’m sorry

- I like their little name tags on the suits tho

- Chekov looks really small in the suit, his hair looks good though

- “The defiant just vanished.” Spock immediately tries to take control of the transporter while McCoy is shocked for a second and then goes to do the same

- “There’s nothing out there to grab ahold of and bring in. When that ship went it must’ve taken the captain with it.” The look Spock and McCoy share

- GET SPOCK A CHAIR! Whys he always got to bend over to work at his desk. Or get him one of those standing desks, I think he’d either like the concept or find it completely impractical

- Chekov goes feral. So feral he pushes Spock, pushes Sulu in his chair, Scotty tries to restrain him, McCoy and Scotty try to restrain him, and then Spock comes in with the nerve pinch

- The way that they look at each other. I can’t explain it (edit: I think I was reading too much into it but have the clip anyway)

- “Spock… are you sure that Jim is still alive?” This is so vulnerable for McCoy, he wants to be reassured, because who is more sure than Spock? The answer is that Spock is not completely sure but he’s not willing to give up on Jim holding out. They’re both in the difficult spot of needing to get away for the safety of the ship but also not being able to leave Jim.

- They’re so tired of dealing with each other at this point. It’s like when your social battery is just gone. Maybe I’m projecting.

- Spock is losing it. Jim is gone. McCoy is upset (more upset than angry which is unusual). And now there’s space webbing.

- OH they’re holding a funeral… woah..

- Spock looks over to McCoy at one point and McCoy looks away.

- “We must accept the fact- that Captain Kirk.. is no longer alive.” This is such a terrible way to put it. He can’t admit, or at least can’t say Kirk is dead. It’s so horrible.

- That moment was really good until someone started yelling

- I wanna see more Sulu and Uhura interactions. I think they’d be really good friends

- The eye contact between Spock and McCoy oh my heart

- don’t fight please

- McCoy just asking Spock why he chose to stay when the answer is so damn obvious, ‘it’s what Jim would do, he would stay for me.’ And the destroying the Tholian ship part? It’s because Spock will just blow shit up

- “Bones, Spock, since you are playing this tape we will assume that I am dead, and the tactical situation is critical, and both of you are locked in mortal combat.” They are in mortal combat but with each other.. oh sorry that’s probably what Kirk meant

- Kirk is just like, ‘be yourselves, get along, Spock’s in charge.’

- “you might find that he is capable of human insight, and human error.” As Kirk says this Spock’s mouth slightly falls open

- “…. Spock I uh.. I’m sorry.” Don’t cry don’t cry don’t cry

- “It does hurt, doesn’t it?” “What would you have me say, Doctor?”

- I got Uhura jump scared

- THE CAPTAIN IN THE MIRROR LMAO

- THE TRANSPARENT KIRK JUST DISAPEARS. Doesn’t even cut away he just blinks out of existence right in engineering

- “In critical moments men sometimes see exactly what they wish to see.” “Do you suppose they’re seeing Jim because they’ve lost confidence in you?” Spock has to take a second after that one. He has to remind himself they’re trying to be friendly “I was merely stating a fact, doctor.”

- MCCOY SWIVELS THE CHAIR

- “I understand, Doctor. I’m sure the captain would simply have said, ‘forget it, Bones.’” I thought they were gonna hug but no, McCoy’s just fainting. Can we talk about that line? This moment? The actual hurt in my heart. Spock is the only other one now who has called him Bones even if it was just quoting Kirk

- Kirk! The fuck are you doing?

- He’s mouthing Bones and Spock I think

- They finally get to have a drink together :)

- Chekov’s back baby!

- Well the ship disappeared and the screen went black. Imagine they just ended the episode like that?

- I think that Spock has a soft spot for Chekov

- I swear in some of these scenes where they just stare at each other, it was originally written that they share a passionate kiss.

- Kirk: And no problems between you?

Spock: None worth reporting, captain

Kirk: Try me

Spock: Hmmm.. only such minor disturbances as are inevitable when humans are involved

Kirk: Which humans, Mr Spock?

McCoy: Oh, he means that when humans become involved with Vulcans, Jim

Kirk: Ah yes, I understand

Chekov gives a little head shake at their antics. This is the most expressive Spock has been in awhile (picture is as he’s going ‘hmmm’)

- Why are they lying about seeing the orders? Do they just not want to admit they needed his help? Also Spock doesn’t fully lie here! He just mumbles off the end of his sentence. McCoy does most of the lying. They work so well together.

- McCoy goes to look at Kirk right at the end and sees Kirk looking at him so he quickly looks away.

I had so many thoughts on this one. Holy shit.

what fandoms do you write in? Star Trek, pretty much exclusively. Only TOS and DS9 so for (and I haven't even really finished anything DS9, I just have plans and WIPs). I may branch out a smidge someday, but I'll probably stay mostly in Star Trek.

how many words have you published in 2024? 4,763. I am a very slow writer lmao. Honestly even answering these questions feels like overkill with so few words published, but c'est la vie. I'll just pretend that I'm a Real Fanfic Author™, and if I do that for long enough, I eventually will be.

what is your greatest achievement this year? Posting anything at all! I had hoped I would, at the start of last year, but I hadn't really expected it. Now, I'm very glad I did (and that I joined Tumblr!).

what are your top three fics you've written this year? I only wrote two! So. Those.

what was your biggest pit of despair moment? I've had a fic that's been sosoclose to done since. like. July. And I have noooot finished it. So, probably that one. I wound up getting wildly discouraged with it, and have just kind of been, um. ignoring it. in the hopes that it'll start feeling salvageable again soon. It's not bad, I know it's not bad, but I can't actually convince myself that it's not bad, and I can't find the right ways to finish the few areas that still need more meat on their bones. I am fighting the urge to just up and delete half of it

what have you learned? That it feels really, really good to receive comments! I've also been slowly figuring out how best to wrangle my brain into Actually Writing, but it's. a work in progress!

did you beta any fics? any faves you want to shout out? So far, I've not had the chance to beta for anyone.

what three fics have you read this year that you love? Um. Oh god. Just three?? I suppose I'll say We can only be who we are by @jennelikejennay, Vision Awry by @walkingstackofbooks, and there may be a power cut (and maybe i love you so) by granspn (who afaik doesn't have a tumblr, but if they do, lmk and I'll tag them too)

(My bookmarks are always a good place to look for fics I've particularly enjoyed, so if ever you are in need of a rec list, that's a good place to start)

what ideas are percolating for next year? Oh, I have so many WIPs. There are a few in there that I'm very excited about, including one where Kirk drags Spock out of Kolinahr early and one where Spock is pining so obviously (to everyone except Kirk). I'd also kind of like to get a DS9 fic or two (and/or my mcspirk fic) published this year, but that relies on me being considerably more prolific than I was this year, so we'll see what happens. (Though, I should be getting ADHD meds at the end of the month, provided that my EKG checks out, which. will hopefully make things a bit easier lmao. I'll need to fight my brain a little less.)

If I am very, very lucky, I'll even be able to get a fic done for the KS Spring Fever. I've got an idea, but, well. Deadlines are rough, and the mind is fickle. I'll do my best (and anyone reading this has permission to hassle me about it and hold me accountable)!

"It's been two months now, Hetfield." The strawberry blonde said through the phone, he could see the way the older man was pouting. "Please" The older whined, tears in his eyes, hearing that harsh tone did nothing but embarass and arouse him. "I'm sorry, alright? I-It's just that, you know how i am, Dave… I'm an asshole, I have a massive ego and I just couldn't let you steal my spotlight, but I have nothing against you, Dave, I promise, just come, please…" He cried, and Dave just chuckled, turning off his phone.

Despite everything, Dave did go, travelling for an hour just to see James stumble at his own property's steps, it was fun in a way, Dave would never admit, not in a million years, but he liked James, he was shy, quiet, but had a massive ego, ego that sparked constant fights between the two, Dave couldn't be a hypocrite, he too had a massive ego, one of the reasons why they could never share the stage. It would never work.

"Oh, thank fuck…" Mustaine heard the man mumble, opening the door to his home and embracing him in a tight hug. "I'm sorry, Dave, fuck, so sorry, please forgive me." He was drunk, Dave laughed as he saw the man getting on his knees and hugging his legs.

"Get up, man, it's not that serious, let's go inside before anyone sees us." He said, looking around, 'kicking' the man until he got up. He swiftly closed the door and sighed, guiding the older man to the kitchen, like he was the owner of the house. At this point, he could be, spending more time there than at his own home, anyway. he thought. "I don't understand you, not even a little." He laughed, giving him some cold water, trying to get the man back to his senses.

James drank some of it, and got steady on his feet again, looking at the blonde's eyes, Dave wasn't naive, he knew that look, drunk, desperate, a light tint to the man's cheeks, barely noticeable to anyone else, but not Dave, everything about James was noticeable, he learned a lot in 5 years of touring with the man, learned all his weak spots, learned all the things that made him angry, learned that he did not like Dave as a guitarist simply because he was good, and that made James jealous, he wanted to be the only one, Kirk was good, but James didn't think he was better than himself, he did not see Hammett as a threat. But Dave was. Maybe it was the sexual tension between the two, maybe James was just insecure. Maybe it was both, because Kirk was and is better than James, the man just didn't see that.

"Do you think that's how things should have been from the start?" James asked, hugging the man's neck, acting like a teenager. A simple no was the answer Dave gave him.

"It wouldn't have worked, because we don't work, Hetfield." Dave continued.

James sighed, giving him a sad look. "I regret things, I really do, I shouldn't have said what I said, i shouldn't have done what I did." He looked away, letting go of Mustaine's neck. "I'm an idiot, and I know it, it's been like three years years since you left, and its been three years since i regret all the shit i said to the media… I don't know what has gotten into my head to say all that shit." James whined, walking to his living room. Dave followed along, listening, and sincerely, getting bored of all that drama, it happened almost every time they had a public fight. Kerrang! would publish an "EXCLUSIVE!" interview where Hetfield says something horrible, then Dave would answer and would talk shit about each other, accuse each other and then say they were never friends.

Then they would spend a week or two without talking to each other and after all that, James would call, saying he misses Dave, and that he was sorry. It was the second time in like, three months, that they had gone through that, Dave wasn't fazed about it.

They sat on the big couch, James lamenting the past, and Dave rolling his eyes. He eventually got tired of it and pressed his lips against the older man's, he heard a small whine and had to hold back a laugh. Such a manly-man on stage and interviews, now look at you... Dave thought to himself. The other couldn't do anyhting but allow the kiss to happen, so foreign but so familiar at the same time, they have done it at least a thousand times and he still reacts the same way as he did the first time. James was simply melting, hands grasping at his couch's leather.

The kiss got deeper, Dave's tongue invading him, full of control and dominance, James was a goner for it. "Now just shut the fuck up forever, please." Dave sighed, unbuttoning the man's shirt. "You always fuck up, I can't trust you to not say anything, I've known you for years now, I don't buy this I won't say anything else talk." He mocked, pinching one of the man's nipples, seeing him squirm under him, hot and flushed all over. "You always go to fucking, kerrang, rolling stone, all those magazines that think you're so much better than me and say shit that was supposed to be private." Dave changed his tone, starting to get a bit angry. "You know how many times you fucked up? You know how many times you almost fucked this up?" He sighed, cupping one of the man's tits, putting his face close to it, giving Hetfield's nipple a lick. The man moaned, closing his eyes and stuttering a sad sorry. "People are actually starting to wonder if we hate-fuck each other, all because big mouth Hetfield can't shut the fuck up, and can't just get fucked like a regular person, you need me to mark you up." He whispered, leaving a hickey on the man's big chest.

"I think I should stop, seriously, you always come back crying and asking for more, asking for forgiveness that I should have never given you in the first place." Mustaine said, now biting the man's nipple, smirking at his reaction, he loved this. "You are simply too dumb for your own good." He sucked on the nipple, pressing his palm on his own crotch, he lowered his body on top of James' and started humping him lightly, liking the sounds he was hearing. It was a bittersweet melody on his ears, the other almost crying, overwhelmed and embarassed, but so, so aroused.

Dave then got up, suddenly, taking his shirt off and tossing somewhere near, laying on top of the man again, he was smaller than the well built frame of James, but he felt like the biggest man on earth when he made such a big, macho man, cry and whine for his cock. It was fun.

"What do you want, James?" Dave asked, close to his ear, licking at his earlobe and smirking, he tried something, holding James' hands on top of his head, pining him to the couch. He knew James could get out of there in a second if he wanted, but he didn't want that. They both knew how much James liked to submit, be a good boy, or some perverted shit like that. Dave wouldn't complain, they clashed on stage because both were too dominant there. And that was it, because in bed they were perfect for each other, complimented each other so well, James being his submissive counterpart, always needing Dave to think for him, make decisions for him, but it never lasted long though. After a few days of being close they would look at each other weird, start bickering and just hate each other again and then Dave would go home. It was fun while it lasted though.

"I want you to fuck me." Was the answer James gave him, blue eyes staring all watery and sweet, like he was some teenager who never got fucked in his life and needed it now.

thinking about the internal logic for the magic system for my original stuff again. thinking about the fact that i spent a year writing (good!) and did not touch my original stuff at all (not great lmao) and that now that i've got myself back on the right path (words!) and have tried to beat into my silly, stubborn head that the important thing is to get things done and out of my sweaty, scared hands instead of clutching them too tightly and far too long trying to focus on making them as good as they can be (sigh), i really, really gotta apply that to my original stuff this next year (SIGH) even when i really don't wanna (SIGHHHHHHHH) so. yeah. i should probably crack that sucker open again and at the very least reread it. AFTER i finish this fic that i was supposed to finish last weekend lmao (say it with me: sigh).

Chronotrek: Strange New Worlds Part 1

I've now finished Enterprise and Discover seasons 1 and 2, as well as all the Short Treks up to Children of Mars.

For those of you who are just finding this (sorry for invading your SNW tag), when I started this 'project', I had only seen a handful of episodes of ANY Trek content and the JJ Abrams movies. I decided to watch all the Star Trek canon in in-universe chronological order. Well, simplified. I watch typically while I'm working, so not only might I miss a few things when I get focused, but I also can't just switch episodes on the fly, so I'm only switching at the ends of seasons. No "this episode had time travel and they went back 300 years, so it should be between these two episodes of a different show" stuff. But I am splitting Disco at the end of season 2 so I've finished Season 2 and will pick up 3 after I finish ALL THE REST OF TREK :scream:

Interesting intro... retro but modern, very colorful (like they said their uniforms were when Pike was introduced on Disco 2x1 :joy:)

Tell me Number One never has a name. I think that was an excellent running gag.

Pike looks like Chris Pine with that beard. I thought that was the former Admiral Cromwell until they showed her face, like it was a flashback. I don't actually know what the dates of everything are, so the date flashing on the screen means nothing. lol

I thought she looked a little familiar, but did not recognize Melanie Scrofano.

At first I thought it was flashing all the way back to Archer's dad and the warp engine. That was in Montana too, right? Were Pike and Archer both horse guys from Montana or am I confusing the two?

Aww Spock guessed right, her name IS Una. Which... is number one :Joy: omg I thought I wouldn't like her being named but the name is a PUN?? I take it back.

Shuttle Stamets?? They named a shuttle after him?

So I guess they retconned the last tiny bit of Disco season 2? Where Spock shows up without a beard and they go off doing things.

And a ship named for Archer.

Mentions of Lt Kirk along with Uhura on the bridge... I know those names.

So Pike is scared of what he saw in the time crystal. Not issues with the Discovery 'disappearance.'

Shades of Hoshi Sato there- the comms officer who knows way too many languages and is afraid of away missions. It's weird because I know that Uhura is an OG character, so Hoshi came after her, but this show is after Enterprise (and I haven't seen OG Trek) so to me, she's Sato II not the other way around.

Why would you take a man's helmet off after a blow? One, you're wearing the helmets for a reason. Can you breathe? Two, if he had a head or neck injury the helmet could be the only thing keeping him from getting injured even worse.

She has a pretty voice.

anyways as i said lestat is an essential element of this show but he’s just lower on my priorities cause i find louis infinitely more fascinating in this iteration (unlike the movie) but i do enjoy their relationship so like i kinda have to bring up his name sometimes.
