Can we get a list of all the tbhk ships you can think of ranked in order of how much you like them? I'm just curious! Leave out anything you flat-out don't like of course!

Ooooh, this will be a challenge! I’ve done the teirmaker list thing twice for TBHK ships but my opinion on them keeps changing (there are some I used to not care abt that are now some of my favorites). I think I’m gonna try to break this up into sections to make it easier

The Holy Trinity

Aoinene- Obviously my all time fave. I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting it but this one has shot into my top favorites of all time, which is a very sacred list🙏🏻 I wasn’t expecting to love them so much because I really like the canon pairings but Beecalm’s fan fictions (and many others) altered my brain chemistry. Once I started to focus on them more I couldn’t stop and now I over analyze everything they do. And ofc writing my own fics made me like them more. I really like the potential of both of them keeping secrets from each other and Nene sort of knowing there’s something up with Aoi but being totally unaware of the extent of it (yk like if they were written by an author who gaf abt them they could be so cool). Also the “best friend becomes the villain” trope is simply superior

Mitsukou- This one recently swapped with Terukane. I expected it to be my favorite bcuz canon gays usually are but Aoinene surpassed them. I still love them tho, I like how fucked up they can be with all the cannibalism and bullying as a love language. They’re all cute and angsty but they also have some serious problems, like dudes please get therapy. Mitsuba wanting someone to depend on and Kou wanting Mitsuba to only depend on him. It’s like a train wreck I can’t look away from. But also like I want them to be happy and hold hands. Maybe they can get couples counseling

Terukane- Don’t be fooled by it dropping one level, I still love them a lot!! I like the fanon concept of them helping each other heal, especially when fics have Akane taking care of Teru. Really, this is my “I just want Teru to be happy” ship lol. The shippers are so funny and good at analyses, and I like how they both thrive off of their rivalry. They have such a comedic duo thing going on too, the final exam chapter was so funny. Their relationship is built on trust, or something like that

Absolutely Fucking Love

AoiAoi- This one may come as I surprise considering Aoinene and Terukane are so high but I’m obviously a huge multishipper. The thing with their names is so funny to me, it’s the first thing I tell my friends abt TBHK every time I introduce them to it. I love how complicated they are while at the end of the day still being very dedicated to each other. They’re both so down bad, it’s cute. Despite their initial toxicity, I strongly believe this is the healthiest canon ship but I’ll hold my tongue

Terukaneaoi- I am strongly hesitating to put this one so high since it used to be more of an after thought but I simply cannot separate AoiAoi and Terukane from this ship so it feels fitting. Even if I’m shipping two of them without the other I still imagine them being very important to each other. My enjoyment of the manga increased tenfold when I started interpreting their love triangle as “Aoi and her two boyfriends.” Lowkey believe AidaIro ship them too. This is what I mean when I say we need more poly ships

Hananene- Also struggling to put this one so high but they’re the main couple, I feel like they deserve this spot. Every now and then I start to think I don’t care abt them that much but then I remember the ending of the Picture Perfect arc and I’m like oh right. They’re soulmates. Their relationship is one of the highlights of the manga for me. I mainly prefer this ship with Amane’s personality over Hanako’s but they are the same person so it’s cute either way

Sakuhiko- This was very briefly my favorite. I headcanon them as sapphics which gives them extra points lol. I love how Natsuhiko seems to know Sakura so well, and how dedicated he is to them. I like the idea of them having a less conventional relationship, they aren’t “together” but they’re still together. Very romantic and typical TBHK fucky messed up stuff. Villain couples are elite

Aoimei- This one could’ve been higher than HanaNene and Sakuhiko but I’m a coward lol. I’m happy that AidaIro gave us sapphic breadcrumbs, even if it was only in an au. To me these two just make sense, they would be perfect for each other. Mei is absolutely a lesbian in my eyes and Aoi has gotta be some type of sapphic. I like that they stayed together even after the love potion, and how Aoi was more comfortable with the idea of Mei falling in love with her than any of the guys. I am absolutely in love with this ship

Adore

Aoimei 2.0- This is the version with No.4 Mei. I am not the first to come up with it but I do believe I’ve made the most fan content for them lol. I sometimes like this more than OG Aoimei but they’ve sadly never interacted in canon so it gets docked a section. It’s such an interesting concept, the way both of them exist as a culmination of the rumors made about them. They would have such an interesting dynamic, in my mind they are enemies to lovers lol

Terukaneaoinene- This one is soooooo underrated. Terukaneaoi is great enough on its own, add Nene and you have all the best ships mixed together. You have to be deep into multishipper hell to like this one bcuz p much every combination of ships here are enemies with each other. Best solution? They all date

Akaneneaoi- Okay I’m just gonna go through every poly variation within Terukaneaoinene here, they’re all pretty interchangeable with each other. This one is great because it’s Aoi and her two favorite people

Teruaoinene- Supremely underrated!! Teru is great, he deserves two girlfriends. And instead of Aoi and Nene being pitted against each other bcuz Nene likes Teru and Teru likes Aoi, they both get to date him AND each other. So fun

Teruakanene- Their little date was so cute (technically they’ve gone on two now). Idc if it was meant to be a Terunene date, Akane was included in my heart. Not crazy abt the lack of Aoi here but this is still an elite ship (one of my mutual named them Pineapple Pals)

TeruAoi- This one is deeply controversial. Tbh it could be above the poly ones I just listed but I like them more in the context of Terukaneaoi or Terukaneaoinene. Teru’s potential crush on her in canon is very cute to me, and I like how she seems to warm up to him throughout the series. I will never understand how people headcanon that they hate each other lol, either they’re dating or they’re best friends

Meinene 2.0- No.4 Mei version ofc. This one is a bit interchangeable with OG Meinene but I like this one a teensy bit better bcuz of the hand-holding scene. Every time I listen to “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” by the Beatles I think of them. This is truly my “I just want Mei to be happy” ship. I like the idea of Nene helping her work on her mental health/self-image issues

Meinene- OG Mei version. Their pancake date lives in my head rent free. Might like it a bit better than the other Meinene but idk they swap a lot. Recently this Meinene has been consuming all my thoughts. It feels so canon, AidaIro clearly wanted Mei to have a girlfriend

Sakunene- This ship should be so much more popular than it is. Like every ship listed below Aoimei 2.0 in this section, it could be swapped with any of the others depending on my mood. This is PEAK enemies to lovers hero/villain character foil vibes. They are everything to me. Nene having a crush on Sakura is lowkey canon so I wish more people recognized their potential

Terunene- So overhated because people have no imagination smh. If Nene came to understand who Teru really is (I think she’s learning but shhh) I think they could be absolute couples goals. Unlike most fans I don’t rly want Teru to have a crush on Nene in canon, I think most people who suggest that only say it bcuz they don’t want to try to understand TeruAoi. But I digress. Super cute ship

Akanene- Another divisive one!! They seem to have this weird animosity towards each other in canon (likely due to Aoi) but whenever they team up…oh man, I love seeing these two work together. They’re both hopeless romantics so they’d be able to match each other’s energy

Aoimeinene- A fairly recent one but I’ve become obsessed. I tend to think of each of the ships separately tho so I need to figure out how the dynamic would work with all three of them. I hope to someday write a fic for them and make this ship more popular (tho I think I’m already on my way to doing that with this blog lol). There are not nearly enough femslash sapphic ships in this fandom, I need more

HakuSumi- Not really sure how to rank this one, I love love love their relationship but I’m not heavily invested in it…still, I don’t want to put it too low. My favorite husband and wife, they deserved better :( I’m glad the fandom is starting to warm up to this one, maybe they’ll have a renaissance like AoiAoi

Super Cute!

SakuMei- No.4 Mei version. We briefly saw them together in ASHK so I think AidaIro know they would be good friends. Their personalities match each other very well and the fanfics are amazing (seriously pls read SakuMei fanfics they’re so good). I lightly associate Mei with the Broadcasting Crew so I like to think she and Sakura would hang out a lot. I headcanon them as exes lmao

Natsuteru- Almost forgot about this one…I have mutuals that would sue me over that. So we all know that Natsuhiko and Teru are exes but consider them as transfem butch lesbian exes. Yes I’m right I’m so correct. I will also accept butchfemme Natsuteru

Kounene- Okay so like…I don’t really multiship a lot with Mitsukou *the crowd boos me* I know, I know. I think this ship is insanely cute as a concept but SOME of the fans are weird abt Mitsukou and HanaNene. It throws me off a bit but I have full love for the ship itself, only when it’s requited on Nene’s side tho. I’m not crazy abt one-sided pairings

HanaKou- Again with the mtsk thing…but let’s be real this ship is art. They could do Romeo and Juliet but Romeo and Juliet could not do HanaKou. I prefer them as best friends but I totally get why so many people like them romantically. They have a funny dynamic. I have a request for them so be on the lookout for that

MitsuHana- Hear me out hear me out, this one is so funny to me. Specifically the concept of Hanako having a crush on Mitsuba. I like to think they’d have the same dynamic as Richie and Eddie from It if you catch my vibe (Hanako is Richie and Mitsuba is Eddie). It pairs well with Kounene too

HanaNeneMitsuKou- Only if Mitsuba and Nene aren’t dating, I don’t fw Mits*nene. Specifically I like this ship when things center around Kou, he’s super nice and protective of everyone so all his friends crushing on him feels so realistic lmao. The four of them would bully each other so hard too, I like to picture them acting similar to the main four from South Park. Please see the vision

SakuAoi- Rumor Girlfriends!!! I love the concept of this ship and they have been shown together a lot in official art. Tbh this one could be higher, but I need a bit more for it yk?? I totally get the concept but it hasn’t completely clicked for me yet. This one may level up in the future tho, as I said the concept is very interesting. I would love to see it in an au where Aoi is with the Broadcasting Crew.

MinaMari- We know little to nothing about their characters but the concept is so cute to me. They’d probably be higher if they had more focus in the manga but alas, they are extremely minor characters😔 They give me major Chappell Roan vibes tho

Sakoo- I’m not overly invested in them but this ship is a staple so they get this category. They’re a cute background ship to Mitsukou. I could see them having some type of crazy slowburn and getting together in their 30s

LemonFuji- A ship I came up with, they are so silly to me. I was gonna put this way lower but then I remembered it’s my favorite Lemon ship. Kinda forgot abt them tho so they could technically be moved a tier down…but no, as the captain of this ship I must go down with it. LemonFuji World Domination

Lemonkane- Not really sure where to put this one in relation to the others but I like them. The fact that they dated in canon always baffles me, I love whenever AidaIro say gay rights. It’s a little funny to me that this isn’t Akane’s main mlm ship, it’s like Lemon got demoted

NagiTsuchi- Say it with me…Old Man Yaoi. Another one I’m not majorly invested in but this is my designated ship for both characters. Workplace romance is one of my favorite tropes, especially with teachers. The Yugi Twins’ dads, trust

Sakuaoinene- So I guess this tier is an “I see the vision/I could get into it” category. I’ve always been aware of this poly ship but for some reason I’ve never looked too deeply into it!! I did make headcanons for them once but beyond that I just don’t think of them often enough. I’ll have to think about it more, the concept is god tier. I like all ships between them so this could be like supreme toxic yuri or smth

Natsunene- Their little door date was so silly and no one talks abt it. I feel like I’m the only person who ships this. Please let them be girlfriends

KouAoi- One of the best rarepairs fr fr but there’s so little content so them. I have a fic idea for them but I haven’t had time to write it yet. To me this is a “crush on your older brother’s best friend” ship lolol. I think it would be more of a celebrity crush on Kou’s part but it’s still adorable

Sakuaoimei- No.4 Mei version. I have a fic request for them that I swear I’ll get around to at some point (I’m trying to stick to a schedule but school has kept me busy this week). I’ll have to brainstorm more of a dynamic for them, I feel like they’d all fit really well together. Sakura and Aoi would nerd out together about horror stories while Mei watches them fondly. Aoi deserves two ghost girlfriends

YoMitsu- I like this one as an unrequited thing, like Yokoo being the typical protagonist of a teen movie and Mitsuba being the unattainable crush. And drama! His crush is dating his best friend. Very much Jesse’s Girl vibes. I made headcanons abt this on TikTok and got ppl all invested in the lore

SatoMitsu- Don’t know much about this one but it seems sweet, he protects him from Kou’s bullying

YoKou- This one is weirdly popular for a rarepair, I feel like I see it all the time. They seem cute enough

SaKou- Satou 100% had a crush on Kou at some point. So did Yokoo but we already covered him. In like 10 years he’s gonna be going about his day and randomly be like “ohhhhh so that’s what those feelings meant”

SaKooMitsuKou- Cute poly ship! Satou and Yokoo help Mitsuba and Kou keep their violence to a minimum. Actually maybe we shouldn’t drag them in to all their drama. Nvm let them be silly boyfriends

SakuMeiAoiNene- Works with either Mei tbh (I’m too tired now to rank them separately I’ve been working on this all throughout the day). Any ship between these characters is elite, I fully support it and would read a fic abt them (or write one)

Koukane- See this one has potential but in my mind they are brother-in-laws so I’m still trying to sell myself on it. I like it tho!

SumiYako- I can’t rly see Sumire with anyone but Hakubo lol but it’s femslash so ofc I like it. I need fics and edits for them, I feel like this one could really grow on me. I want to marry both of them fr fr

TsuchiYako- At first I loved it, then I hated it, now I’m warming back up to it. I could see them having a thing without ever having to discuss it yk?? Like they’re together in some sense and they both know it without having to make a big deal out of it

MitsuKane- One of my moots said they would smoke weed together and I have loved the concept ever since. Another ship I feel like I could get into

SakuTeru- Ignore the ranking for this last category btw I have lost the plot. I cannot see Sakura with a man but if it’s nb or transfem Teru then yes. Very interesting concept

SakuNatsuTeru- This ship is so funny I need to look more into it. They all give me major poly vibes so seeing them together feels biblically accurate

SakuMei 2.0- Original Mei version. I’ve not rly looked into it but I could see myself liking this one. They give me opposites attract vibes

NatsuAoi- A rarepair that only I ship (I think). It’s super chaotic to me

LemonAoi- Aesthetically pleasing, I saw an edit for them once and it was life changing. Really I love any Aoi ships, her complex character makes for very interesting dynamics (even tho she only rly cares abt 2 ppl)

Mama Yashiro x MitsuMom- People pair them together a lot so that Mitsuba and Nene can be siblings and I’m totally here for it. Another one I’ve been meaning to write a fic for bcuz there’s not a lot focused solely on them (for obvious reasons). Let the milfs kiss

MitsuLemon- Another rarepair my moots introduced me to. I’ll have to look more into it but yayyyy their colors go together

Lemonkaneaoi- The original concept for TBHK is so fascinating to me. We could’ve had it all

TeruLemon- Fun rarepair, love the overload of blonds here

TsuchiHaku- I saw fan art of them once and I have not stopped thinking abt it

KataSumiHaku- I was recently introduced to this one and I love it, I’m obsessed

Okay there are probably more I could think of but those are ones I don’t care enough about to list. If I get invested in any new rarepairs you will probably catch me yapping abt them on here. Just assume Mitsukou and SouKou are equal btw I did NOT wanna bother with listing them separately. I'm new to marauders, this is the second fic I've read.

Summary: I liked this fic, a lot. It was a fun read and I really liked the progression of both Wolfstar and James/Lili (is it Jilly? I can’t remember). A bit less angsty than what I usually read and some parts felt underbaked, but the author kept my attention INCREDIBLY. I stayed up about four hours later than I usually do binge reading this. Very good.

Honestly really like what I’ve seen in the fic, but it’s a bit TOO silly for my tastes. I need more angst.

Like obviously I want Remus and Sirius to be openly gay and in love but it was too easy in this fic, like with Destiel its always SUCH an issue lmao.

TOTAL RECAP:

I liked this fic, a lot. It was a fun read and I really liked the progression of both Wolfstar and James/Lili (is it Jilly? I can’t remember)

I do feel like it was a little too light at times, there wasn’t a whole lot of grey area morally, and a lot of big issues weren’t fully fleshed out. I wish they’d dived into Regulus more, and Snape. I wish they’d addressed Sirius’ use of the Cruiciatus curse, and I wish they’d address Dumbledores failings more directly

Werewolf shit was fantastic to read, the angst, the fear, the violence, the drama. I thought the transformations were excellently done and I really enjoyed the progression of them figuring out the roaming/playing

Hogsmeade passage shut off? Strange.

I did not enjoy that I cannot be sure they are safe. That’s a benefit of post-hog warts fic, if its truly marauders James and Lily often don’t die.

Overall very happy fic. I did love the aggressive use of drunkness as a plot device, I liked Lily’s characterization for the most part, and it was pretty addicting in the middle.

I thought Characterization was good, not fantastic but definitely good. Peter threw me, not very likable. It’s hard to do him correctly and have him add worth to the story, but I just did not like him the whole time, and I felt like Remus and Sirius both didn’t care for him and found him annoying.

My rankings are not supposed to be biased. Horrible shitty fic would get like a one, something readable but bad would get a fourish. Most fics that I read will be around 7-9 simply because I sort by Kudos and get recs from misuss so they’re better quality to begin with.

Great light silly read, with just enough depth to keep it interesting. I could see myself re-reading this fic once I get to know the marauders better.

Also, I do not like the fanart in this fic but I'm sure that's not universal. The artist is credited within the fic but I'd like to tag them here just to acknoledge the hard work that went into it. I checked them out and ADORE some of their other work, this one was just not to my liking. They have some percy jackson shit up that EATS.

6. What’s one fact about the universe of [insert fic] that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself?

mark has an eating disorder. i wanted to write it into thoroughfare, i read his aussie grit and i’m pretty sure he mentioned abt the racing diet restrictions and people saying how ill he looked at the end of his career.

but everytime i wrote it felt super clunky and not good, i didn’t think i could do the subject justice in terms of really accurate representation so i decided to cut it.

21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in [insert fic], what would it be?

probably the former one about mark, as well as seb’s past life past crimes etc. but then also i might leave that as a vague mystery, as u know he’s the most unreliable narrator to ever narrate so! i think also i already wrote a lot of the missing scenes in crush from sebs pov in thoroughfare which i loveddddd doing. i will actually post a “missing scene” as such later!! it’s just a little ramble of them being all silly but still i like it and i hope other ppl will:)

Jeon Jungkook, for as long as he could remember, grew up devoutly Christian. He was sheltered by his helicopter parents, who in turn, gave him all opportunities that they felt were the best for their son considering that they had a rebellious older one just “wasting his time away”. He was that kid in school who had to go to Bible school every Saturday and service every Sunday while his friends went out and partied, that kid who volunteered to be the leader of every Christian bootcamp possible. After years of being a camp counselor, Jungkook was this close to going through the minister program himself at the age of twenty-one, but his parents pushed him to go to university just to explore other options. And so, he chose social work.

Of course, the Lord had other plans for Jungkook.

His little bubble popped, and Jeon Jungkook found himself having the worst existential crisis and culture shock known to man when he started his collegiate career at a prestigious state university, surrounded by hot people making stupid decisions on the regular. His strategy navigating through college life was about as successful as using a fork to eat soup: not effective.

There was wild shit happening everywhere he went, and unlike Christian boot camp where the counselors will make sure one strays away from it and into the Light of the Lord, there was none of that parental control business going on. Poor Jungkook was thrown into the wolves the first day on campus as he was promptly invited to go to a frat party that night, only to be met at the house entrance of a freshman snorting a whole thick line of cocaine. Another step into the party revealed a young man stumbling past him, asking for some poppers before giving him a suggestive wink and very prolonged and unneccesary brush past his shoulders. What poppers was is something Jungkook has yet to figure out, and he didn’t want to know.

It was around that time in his freshman year of college when he met someone: the impressionable Kim Taehyung.

Kim Taehyung was everything that Jungkook was not. He smoked marijuana on the daily throughout his high school years and was a proclaimed stoner. Everyone could depend on Taehyung to come in clutch with a joint or a vape pen at any function, just baked out of his little mind. He was a huge fuckboy as well, earning a reputation that preceded him amongst the sorority girls and even the guys (straight or otherwise). No one would admit it if they were asked upfront, but everyone wanted a piece of him and he fucking loved it. 

When the two ended up being dorm mates, it was like oil and water. Jungkook couldn’t stand Taehyung’s loud as fuck EDM music (and one time when he asked Taehyung to switch it, the man scoffed and jeered, “What you want me to do, play some hymns or some shit? Fuck off, dude.”), nor was he able to digest half of the conversations Taehyung had with his other fuckboy friends. Jungkook hated the guy and had requested to change roommates months ago, only for the staff to just completely ignore his request. 

Taehyung, on the other hand, loved messing with his new dorm mate. There was something deeply and psychologically fucked up about how he wanted to taint this man the best way he knew how, but he refrained. He wasn’t a complete asshole, after all, and knew when to set boundaries. He wasn’t that messy, but if he ever got the chance, he would soil him. 

The two college students were set on the belief that they would never ever get along, until one day…one fantastical Wednesday night, something incredible happened.

It was any other regular Wednesday evening, but this night the campus was teeming with late night activity. It was the week before spring semester drew to a close, and as people finished up their finals, Jungkook was of course, diligently in his room finishing up a paper that was due in roughly a couple of hours. Spreading his sociology books and notes all over the top bunk, Jungkook was hyper fixated on his work with his MacBook Pro sitting on his lap, writing about the pitfalls of late-stage capitalism. He was less than a hundred words away from finishing when his curly haired roommate burst into the room via kicking the door open with one foot, followed by his entrance was the now familiar scent of marijuana. They met each other’s gaze for a split second before Jungkook rolled his eyes, going back into his paper. 

Taehyung scratched his head before shaking it, tsking. 

“Bruh, it’s fucking 4/20,” Taehyung noted as he saundered his way onto the bottom bunk bed, plopping loudly onto it. The impact made the mattress elicit a distinct squeak that Jungkook became accustomed to sooner than he would have liked (Taehyung would  often nights bring “guests” over, much to Jungkook’s dismay). With a smirk painted on his lips, Taehyung continued, “You shouldn’t be doing schoolwork on the Lord’s Day.” 

Jungkook’s right eye twitched. Taehyung knew mocking his devout religious beliefs always annoyed the hell out of Jungkook, but after a while, the Christian schoolboy graduate learned how to pick his battles. He also started to miss a few services here and there due to his busy student life, but they were genuine.

For now, anyway.

“I got a paper due and no, I’m not interested in smoking anything from that gross pipe of yours,” Jungkook fired back, rolling his eyes as he typed away on his MacBook. 

Taehyung shrunk a bit in embarrassment as he glanced over at his dick-shaped glass pipe pathetically leaning on the side of his bedside table. It was filled with charred weed and other gunk. He told himself weeks ago to get some rubbing alcohol and peroxide to clean it out, but he kept forgetting.

“Dude, fuck off, okay?” Taehyung folded one leg up to his chin to sit in a 4 shape as he continued to chew his gum, popping it loudly enough for his roommate to get irritated about it. “I don’t got time to clean shit because I’m too busy.”

Jungkook looked up from his laptop for a split second. He had the perfect comeback, and he was 100% going to use it. 

“I don’t think eating two bags of Doritos and jerking off are actual legitimate errands,” he laughed to himself. Nailed it.

Taehyung clenched his jaw before popping his gum again.

“Fuck off.”

“Not out of wedlock,” Jungkook chuckled to himself, half-jokingly and half-serious at the same time.

They fell into a blissful lull in conversation, the only sound being Jungkook typing away at his keyboard and Taehyung’s obnoxious gum chewing. It didn’t take long before Jungkook finished his paper (it was flawless if he did say so himself). He submitted it, feeling proud, only for his good mood to plummet when Taehyung began to speak once more.

“So uh. I’m in a situation.”

Jungkook groaned, closing his laptop before he made his way down to the dorm floor. 

“You got a girl pregnant again?” he deadpanned.

“No, you fucking asshole,” Taehyung rebutted, pulling himself up and crossing his legs together while holding his phone in both of his hands. “I need to do a weed pickup in twenty, but I got that stupid fucking group project thing right now.”

Jungkook’s shoulders moved up slowly in a shrug as he extended his hands out a bit.

“Why don’t you reschedule your pickup?”

Taehyung laughed. Actually, he cackled. It kind of scared Jungkook a little and he backed away slowly, wondering if his roommate had suddenly gone insane. 

“Bruh, this isn’t just any pickup. It’s from Joon.”

“Joon?” 

“Joon. Motherfucker got the top shelf shit.”

Jungkook stared blankly at his dorm mate as Taehyung rolled his eyes. What is there to expect from Jungkook truly? The man lived in a bubble his whole life and to him, all of this was pure gibberish. It had been cute at first, but now it was kind of depressing to see every single waking day.

“You’re not gonna get it…” Taehyung tapped away on his phone as he slowly stood up from his bed. “Fuck, how am I gonna pull this off?”

There was a moment of silence between the two of them before something brilliant came to Kim Taehyung’s mind.

“Can you pick it up for me, man? I’ll pay you thirty bucks.”

Jungkook’s eyes widened. Thirty bucks for a pickup? Is he serious? Taehyung was clearly desperate, and there must be something about this weed that he needed it badly. Did Jungkook understand it? Not at all. Christian Boy has never even touched the magical herb before with his bare hands, let alone had the desire to smoke it.

But what he knew for sure was that Taehyung would do anything, and like a sleazy car salesman, he added a market adjustment to his offer.

“Nah, give me fifty.”

“Ey, don’t be an asshole,” Taehyung clicked his tongue, licking his lips. He put his hands on his hips in thought as he did some silent calculations in his head. His phone continued to ring for his attention once more. He was late to his project group meeting, and he had no time left to negotiate. 

Damn, is this weed that good? Jungkook thought. Thought all of it was the same.

The curly haired man sighed in resignation, putting his phone into his pocket. 

“Fine, I’ll Venmo you.”

Nailed it again.

And so, Jungkook found himself donning a dark grey oversized hoodie, basketball shorts, and Gucci slides before leaving the room. Taehyung gave him very specific instructions to meet this Joon guy, and boy, by the way he described this soon-to-be interaction was like meeting with El Chapo in Jungkook’s little semi-corrupted mind. 

The bite of the cold April air immediately brought a flush to his cheeks and the tip of his nose as his slides skidded through the pavement. He made to his location in no time, which was on the other side of campus near the main quad by the fountain. The dim street lights flickered but illuminated just enough for him to see where he was going, but not enough to fully articulate the shadows that were passing him by. To be fair, he was also blind as a bat, and in the midst of being excited over finessing fifty bucks for some stupid weed, he forgot to put on his prescription glasses to help him see better in the dark.

Now, Taehyung didn’t necessarily go into a lot of detail as to what this man looked like, but Jungkook was making his own conjectures: probably some scrawny and short guy in his mid thirties with at least two tattoo sleeves and ear plugs. Or alternatively, some geezer who was way too old to be hanging around campus with some college freshmen. The light sound of the recycled fountain water falling behind him calmed Jungkook down from his fears of being abducted and sold as a sex slave, something that was drilled into him as a child. 

What he didn’t know was about to hit him like a ton of bricks.

“Yo, you Jungkook?” A voice called from behind him.

Jungkook turned around.

Holy shit.

What happened next to Jungkook was something he could not explain at that moment in time and still has yet to process even after the fact. As mentioned earlier, he was going through some serious shit as it was, adjusting roughly to college life. One of the other things he was grappling with was his long-standing fascination of male bodies, and particularly, taller older men. Before, it was to compare himself to them as he would flex his muscles to see if it was remotely close to the most well-toned dude at the gym. Everybody compares their bodies to others as a way to better themselves so it was natural for him.  

Then, it became an appreciation of aesthetics where it was like, “Nice body, dude,” followed by a rather awkward high-five. If the guy was unapproachable or deep in the middle of a set, Jungkook would just blankly stare, watching the muscles jiggled before settling into their places. He would look away clumsily as these men would look over his way, whistling along to a song playing on the gym radio or talking to himself. It would not take long for men to start noticing his elongated gawking, and as they moved further away from him, Jungkook’s cheeks and nose would turn a rosy pink out of discomfiture.

Recently, as he did his daily workouts at the university gym, he found himself staring at other guys’ asses for a bit too long. After years of doing that subconsciously, he began to think to himself…

Am I a little gay?

Now, he wasn’t a homophobe by any means, nor was he completely closed off to the idea of him being gay. His parents were accepting to the extent that they could as the days where Asian parents being blatantly and aggressively homophobic passed. For fuck’s sake, it was 2022. Jungkook was, at best, just inept at figuring out his own sexual orientation as all of that was not taught to him in a private high school setting or in Bible class. All he learned was being gay was okay and that God was okay with the gays.

In fact, the church he frequents is perhaps one of the most open and diverse congregations out there, a rarity in and of its own. The pastor’s son was publicly gay and the church accepted him as he was, much to his surprise. Jungkook was close friends with that son, Park Jimin, as they’ve known each other for over a decade.

Jimin was his favorite guy in the world. Unfortunately, Jimin is not the brightest tool in the toolbox so he had no chance to go to the same school as Jungkook, but he did end up going to the community college a couple of miles away from the university majoring in, you guessed it, dance. The close proximity allowed them to meet up before going to Sunday service at a church nearby. It was not the same of course, but the two went anyway to ensure their connection with God was intact.

Of course, with the homosexual tendencies between these two men, it would be natural to wonder if there’s anything going on. It would be defaming to say that Jungkook and Jimin have hooked up, but it would be a straight up lie to say that Jungkook and Jimin did nothing together. Yes, they did watch porn together and, Lord forgive him, they may have mutually and consensually jerked off next to each other one time during one of those camping trips (since it always happens like that). But Jungkook swore he was only ever watching the girl getting pounded while Jimin was watching the man pounding her. That’s not gay, is it? It’s just bros being bros, respectfully. 

Back to Joon. 

Well, how does one describe Joon? 

Tall. Six feet at least, a towering height over Jungkook himself. 

Older. Joon was clearly older than him, but only by a few years compared to the ten to twenty years he was expecting at first.

He was adorned in a black leather jacket, a plain white tee and some dark wash jeans and black CDG Converse. The muscular man was wearing other designer items from what Jungkook could tell, which wasn’t entirely shocking. After all, this man probably made so much money he could shit it out. The clothes fitted him extremely well, accentuating his mile-wide built shoulders and for almost no reason other than really good genetics. He was a bit dark-skinned, but more so sun-kissed at best with platinum blonde hair styled back to be tucked in a grey beanie. He stood in front of Jungkook with absolute conviction and confidence as he extended his hand out for a handshake with the cheekiest of smiles, dimples present. 

He was not what Jungkook was expecting to see, but it was something he needed to see. 

The man was, in Jungkook’s little Christian doe eyes, very goddamn attractive. 

And he was feeling some type of way about it.

“Uh, yeah…” Jungkook said dumbly. It was like a fist had wrapped around his vocal chords and squeezed, preventing him from saying something more profound. He felt wickedly small next to Joon and as he stared into this man’s large veiny hands, he stuck out his own to shake it, only to be greeted with a very firm handshake. That alone knocked the wind out of his lungs a little. It was then he wondered why Taehyung really wanted weed from this man, and if his looks had anything to do with it. 

“Cool,” Joon replied with his deep voice. It led to Jungkook’s cheeks flushing a little as he hoped to God the man didn’t pick it up. As Joon passed the infamous and suspicious brown lunch bag over to Jungkook, he began to rant about Taehyung, much to Jungkook’s delight. “Motherfucker is trying it. I told him I don’t like it when people don’t show up, and he sends someone else over to me anyways.”

Jungkook accepted the bag a little too excitedly, gripping the bag and the contents of said bag in his hands tightly. As the freshly cut marijuana crunched lightly along with the brown paper, Jungkook could not stop staring at Joon while he spent the next five minutes complaining about his dorm mate, and he knew it was getting weird for him. There’s no way he doesn’t feel that way, Jungkook convinced himself. Every dude knows about my staring problem and he’s gonna figure it out quick and it’s gonna be that whole shit again where I just weird every guy out with my damn stares like what the hell is wrong with m—

“Like, I don’t mind driving far out for this fool, but like, can he give me a bit of his time though?” Joon concluded, heaving a big sigh. He had a cool swagger to his voice that Jungkook could not get enough of and he wanted to hear the man talk for days or forever if possible. His incredibly large chest rose and fell, and of course, Jungkook was hyper aware of every millisecond of it. Jungkook was under his spell at this point, only nodding to give off the impression that he was following what he said the whole time and not uh, stare at him like he’s a member of BTS. 

“Yeaaaaah…” was all he could say again. Jesus fuck, can you sound any more of a stupid bitch? Get yourself together! “Uh…” Jungkook stupidly looked at the bag in his hand. “Do I…pay for this, or…”

Joon shook his head, lifting up his phone at Jungkook’s eye level to show a public Venmo payment from the missing guy himself. Addressed to “Kim Namjoon” or “@rkive”, it was a transaction of $50 with the note: “for my baby daddy 👨🏼‍🍼”. 

Very on brand of Taehyung, and it made Jungkook gag a little.

“Anyway…” Namjoon put his phone away in his back pocket before doing a quick one second half-wave and turning around. Boy was his back muscles stretching the hell out of that jacket. “Tell that fucker to get his shit together. I’m not gonna accept this shit again unless he wants to pay more.”

“Will do,” Jungkook said feebly, waving back aggressively. He was not slick at all as Namjoon’s eyebrow lifted in confusion, sending him into a spiral. This was the worst day of his life. He’s so ruined.

Namjoon bid farewell with a cool “Ciao” and a peace sign, heading back into the shadows again. As Jungkook’s breath steadied after he held it out of nervousness, he lifted the little bag of marijuana up to his eyes before looking back to where Namjoon had stood. There was a ping from his phone perhaps from Taehyung to ask if the pickup went well, but Jungkook was too busy putting two and two together about that one creeping suspicion about himself that has been screaming at his face for years.

I’m gay, aren’t I? 

Jungkook gulped.

“Fuck me.”

I am reminded of the moment in chapter 3 where reader said they like kiibo the way he is AND I JUST....AAAAAA they're so good,, AND SHUICHI OH MY GOD. the way he admires the dedication that reader has to their work and not enjoying his job as a detective. honestly i think the way he talked about it makes sense given like, i wasn't sure if he actually liked being a detective in canon or if he resents the true nature of his job. admiring it initially as a kid and then growing up to realize that it's not all it's cracked up to be,,,i can relate, oof.

speaking of dedication! Holy Shit Kokichi. oh my god. the fact that he feels so comfortable in reader's presence to theorize about the world itself and talk about the flashback lights, it's so Excellent. and when he got Jealous of reader and shuichi, oh my god you are so GAY, DUDE. AND WHEN HE TOLD THEM TO SHOW WHAT....OOOOOOOOH. ( and i caught him looking at their iron grip and them touching his hair. you're not slick, sir. ) AND THEN READER JUST REFUSING TO HURT HIM, AND JUST WANTING TO HELP, LIKE THE CONCUSSION SCENE.......AND THE OMINOUS LINE AT THE END. I DON'T LIKE THAT I HAVE A FEELING OF WHAT'S COMING. OH NO

AHHH i’m so glad u liked the update!! i always think my fic must fucking suck for people who don’t like the same ships as me bc if there’s one thing abt me it’s that i will put my little ships in there. a little tenmiko there, a lil kiiruma here. Ok second half of this; this is just like. non-students who i Actually have thought about HJBAFV not at all a comprehensive list. Again disclaimer i write all these chars as bi in my fics, also i am bi myself so the vast majority are also bi, and also leaving a lot of these vague so u can imagine ur favorite ship or urself or w/ever

ok lets start this off with Aizawa. I think....... hes another one who's rlly unlabelled, doesnt super care to think it through and define it, but calls himself gay bc his interest in women is very, very rare and it's just way easier to say than explain all that. Definitely do buy into the idea that he had a crush on Oboro in hs but i do NOT buy into the easermic agenda sorry. Definitely not someone who goes looking for dates, but doesn't say no if someone asks him and hes interested (also im not gonna give her a whole section but i saw a hc a while back that the Ms. Joke stuff is literally that shes a lesbian and hes gay and shes fucking with him and i love that so much i just wanted to put it out there)

on the topic of the erasermic agenda: Hizashi's pan and knew it before HS, had a sudden & intense crush on Aizawa for the first month they knew each other and then immediately got over it in favor of a similar sudden, intense, and then immediately fading crush on Midnight. Hizashi and Aizawa r just rlly good friends imo; maybe they messed around for a bit in their twenties but it never went anywhere serious. He dates around a lot, not even necessarily to settle down just to have some fun

Midnight is aro/ace but does get in qprs & gravitates towards women wrt that. Most people dont read vigilantes but theres a woman in that, Kazuho, who i imagine she's been in a long-term qpr with; her relationship with aizawa and hizashi leans a little more towards a qpr than a normal friendship, too, but it's not rlly defined that way

All Might is married to justice queer but v much not interested in relationships. He and that one guy from the first movie are ABSOLUTELY exes and i won't hear otherwise; it's the only relationship he's ever had, and they broke up bc he had to go back to japan. He was heartbroken but did eventually get over him; his lack of romance afterwards is from genuine disinterest and not being hung up on his past. I can see him finding someone else in his later years, after he's retired. Definitely feels like he's not worthy of it tho

Hawks is bi but unfortunately didn't get to figure that out until like Now in the timeline...... if youll let my dabihawks history shine through i think dabi was the reason JHBASFGJHB he was basically brainwashed by the commission to become a hero so he didnt have time to Figure That Shit Out; he knew he was into women bc that was easy & what the commission expected from him but then he started this undercover assignment and met dabi and realized Oh...... Fuck. Hawks is hard tbh, bc i think between the control that the commission has over him and his own convictions as a hero he doesn't pursue any romance (tho he does get crushes or find people attractive) and most of his flings are done to keep up his prettyboy act, not out of genuine interest in being a fuckboy. Can't imagine him having a relationship until well after canon but I do see him being interested eventually

Onto the villains, Shigaraki is unlabelled but probably would call himself queer if asked. Definitely admires women more but isn't very interested in romance; AFO actively encourages him to pursue the things interested in so imo if he were he'd talk abt it more lmfao. I kinda see him as demi as well, not the type to fall immediately but requiring a friendship beforehand; tho unlike Bakugo as i said in my last post I dont think it happens suddenly but rather slowly. Y'all know im a big fan of shigaraki being absolutely whipped for his s/o so i do thing hes a big piner, tho he's also pretty bold and unashamed of his affections. I'm a big fan of him falling for a member of the league or a civilian; definitely can't see him falling for a hero unless the hero was already halfway to turning sides already. I think he's also attracted to intelligence and someone who pushes him to think more abt his ideology...... maybe im just projecting at this point JSHDFBVAJKSHD but my point is that the gender of his partner is definitely the least of what he considers/notices

Dabi is bi and, here's my bold take, demisexual; not interested in sex unless its with someone he loves. Absolutely doesn't even think abt romance for most of the years where he's on his own. He's got revenge to plan. By the time he joins the league that hasn't changed much, and he's demi so he's not interested in sleeping around, plus he rlly denies any attachment to people at all. As I said in that other ask tho I do rlly like the idea of him with Magne, so I think they have a fling for a bit before her death :( it's one of the things that leads him to isolate himself further, unfortunately, even from Jin and the other League members with whom his relationships aren't romantic. I can see him dating someone post-canon bc i think hes gonna be redeemed lol. It could be someone he knew before but they probably didnt date again bc he was v guarded; i think magne was rlly the only person he dated

Magne is pan and heres the kicker: I think shes t4t, which led to a little moment just before she and dabi got together where he was like "she wouldnt be into me :/" but she was into him anyway so all was good. She got around in her circles, mostly casual stuff tho she yearned for something more serious.

Spinner's bi & trends towards women but does occasionally get things for men and they're almost always intense. He thought he was straight for a while even once he joined the league and then suddenly got a crush on Shigaraki (around the time of MVA) and realized otherwise LMFAO he's definitely a hopeless romantic type, the whole mutant prejudice thing makes it rlly hard for him and i can see him being rlly happy with another mutant-type; i feel like as he matures he starts to gravitate towards them

Toga is canonically pan to my understanding, iirc her interest in Uraraka and Deku is the same (and romantic) in canon tho i might be wrong. Poor girl just needs therapy. I like the idea of the two of them becoming her friends over her being involved with them but i totally can get behind her having a thing with Uraraka (and maybe Tsu) at some point post-canon (presuming she gets redeemed), tho I think a qpr between the two/three of them would be longer lasting. And again presuming she gets therapy i can see her settling down with someone, gender irrelevant

Jin is unlabelled bc he hasn't much thought abt it, definitely had a thing for dabi and for hawks which does make me sad on both counts. I think he likes women slightly more abstractly/aesthetically and gets crushes more on men,. The dabi thing fades as they get closer and start to view each other as brothers. In his later years he doesn't rlly care about romance, I think he enjoys the experience of crushing but doesnt like dating people; his found family in the League is far more important to him. But i can see him falling head-over-heels for someone quite suddenly and having a bit of a whirlwind romance. Also someone for whom gender isn't much of a factor

Mr Compress is also queer and also hasn't rlly thought abt it. Definitely leans more towards women; he's like 30 but i like to think he also goes for older partners, 10 or 15 years his senior KJBADSJFHB idk he just has that Vibe with the way he calls himself an old man etc. A lot of the league i cant see sleeping or dating around much, i feel like they prioritize each other, but I do think mr compress gets around more than the others. i can see him having a bit of a fuckbuddy who he catches feelings for

Kurogiri is fun; as Oboro I do think Aizawa's crush was reciprocated, tho he wasn't around long enough for them to act on it :( he's bi, tho kurogiri isn't supposed to have personal interests. I like to imagine the brainwashing isnt as good as AFO wants it to be tho so I like the idea of him falling for someone anyway. I also like the idea of the heroes managing to undo the nomufication and I 100% can see him, aizawa, and someone else (someone he was involved with as Kurogiri) ending up in a triad as a result of aizawa and the third partner helping him through the aftermath of all that shit

Lady Nagant is a manga-only minor character but im in love with her so imma talk abt it. Shes bi and leans VERY heavily towards women, probably spent years questioning whether she was rlly bi or a lesbian before finally having a fling with a guy that she genuinely enjoyed. Has only ever been in long-term relationships with women and I v much think she has a gf at home who stayed even when she was arrested 🥺

Finally imma talk abt Natsuo bc i love that boy. He's one of the few unmarried chars with a love interest and he canonically has a gf. I do see him as IDing straight in canon ngl, but the kind of straight where he might actually be bi but his preference leans so heavily towards women and he grew up in a bad home so he just doesnt rlly think abt it bc hes v happy with women anyway. In shiganatsu thoughts shigaraki is the first man he has a thing for; i rlly can see the two of them in a triad with a woman specifically, who helps the two of them find each other and is the one who initiates bc its definitely a weird situation for natsuo

okay. so. ‘who am i really’ is the first zukka thing i ever wrote, started before i had even. finished watching the show lmao

basically i have 25k of it written, probably another 4-5k written in notes and an outline, but i am mature and knowledgeable of my own shortcomings enough to know there’s no way in hell i’ll ever finish it, because that 25k? isn’t even. 20% of the fic if i were to actually write it, like this shit would approach 200k in its final form and i very simply do not have the time to actually. write that lmao

but i’m happy to talk about it! so basically it was the whole ‘oh my god they were roommates’ premise except zuko is sokka’s downstairs neighbour, they fight over music volume, and for the first part of the fic zuko’s a bootlicking son of the city police chief and starting out at the police academy, who calls the cops on sokka for his music one night

aand i just realised how long this is gonna be so under the cut!

so we start from the ‘zuko’s a fucking asshole’ stage and move on from there, and then due to a couple of different mildly traumatic events  zuko realises the police system is inherently evil, has his whole redemption arc slash emotional breakdown and quits the force, he gets cut off by ozai and moves in w sokka for cheaper rent bc sokka is a nice person (who’s seen the way zuko has been walking around looking like absolute Death for weeks) and also needs someone to help w the rent

we also start from the point where sokka’s dating suki, and zuko’s still coming to terms with his sexuality, so there’s all that to work through

basically it just goes into the development of zuko and sokka’s friendship, and zuko’s development as a person going from an incredibly sheltered, incredibly privileged life to... the opposite of that lmao and how his friendship with the rest of the gaang grows, and his personal journey, and whatnot, just a nice little mirror for canon except w more swearing and the author talking about how all cops are bastards

it’s all self indulgent nonsense and little bits of shit that popped into my head so i wrote it down, really, but here’s my favourite bit

“So I was thinking.”

“Never a good sign.”

“Ha, ha.” Sokka deadpans. “Seriously though. I want a GNO. Drinking, dancing, questionable choices, might even get some action if I’m on my game.”

“And you think this is something I would enjoy.” Zuko, the introvert who can’t dance, responds.

“You’ll enjoy it because you’re going with your best friends, one of whom is just getting over the emotional hangover of the end of a three-year relationship.” Sokka pouts. “We can even go to a gay club! It’s been ages since I’ve been to one.”

Zuko snorts, and looks back to the TV. “I thought you wanted to get some ‘action’.”

“I mean, I would also be fine with just a fun night out with the gang. But if there are interested parties.” Sokka shrugs.

“Well, forgive me if my idea of a fun night isn’t watching Toph beat the shit out of you for creeping on lesbians at a gay club.”

Sokka makes an exasperated noise. “C’mon, you know me better than that.” He says, throwing a cheeto at the side of Zuko’s face. “I said interested parties. I can be strictly dick-tly for an evening, no sweat.”

Zuko turns, brow raised. “What does that even mean.”

“Y’know. I wouldn’t say no to a girl of the bipan persuasion if she wants to make a move, but if I’m actively pursuing anyone, it’ll just be guys. And, y’know, any non-girl people who seem into it.”

A record scratches in Zuko’s brain. “You… why would you pursue a guy.”

“I dunno, if he’s hot?” Sokka says, looking at him like he’s crazy. “Or has a nice smile? Shiny hair? I dunno, why do you usually pursue guys, Z.”

“But.” Zuko stammers, staring at Sokka. “But I’m attracted to men.”

Sokka blinks at him. “…so am I?”

What. “What.” No seriously, what. “What?!”

“Is this… are you trying to be funny?”

Zuko stares at his roommate, frantically trying to understand what’s going on. “Are you trying to be funny?!”

“No, I’m being bisexual.” Sokka says, slightly defensively. “Because I’m bisexual?”

“Since when?!”

Sokka stares at him, then gestures to wall. “Zuko, that’s been up since I moved in. I know you’ve seen it.”

Zuko turns to stare at the wall, but all he can see is- “The flag?”

“Yeah, Zuko, the fucking flag. Did you think I just thought it was pretty?”

“Is-” Zuko flounders. “Is the flag significant?”

Sokka looks intently, somewhat crazed, at Zuko’s face, like he’s searching for something. Whatever it is, he obviously doesn’t find it. His arm is still held out towards the wall, and he uses it to gesture towards the flag again, more aggressively this time. “It’s the fucking bisexual pride flag, Zuko!”

“I.” Zuko gapes at him, still confused. “I thought the pride flag was a rainbow?”

“Oh my-” Sokka starts. “Are you fucking with me right now. Is this you fucking with me.” He pauses, staring at Zuko. “Jesus fuck, Zuko, there are different flags for different sexualities. That’s the bisexual one.”

Zuko stares at the flag, then back at Sokka, then back at the flag. Then back at Sokka. “Well how was I supposed to know that?!”

“Everybody knows that, Zuko!” Sokka exclaims, then brings his hand up to rub at the bridge of his nose. “Okay, I guess you just. Didn’t know that. Somehow. And that’s fine. Point being, I am bisexual. I am attracted to all genders, I’ve been- I thought- out since I was sixteen. So yeah. I’m bi.”

“But.” Zuko’s brain has been trying to process this information, and now rejects it entirely. “But that. You can’t be.”

Sokka gives him a weird look. “I can’t be?” His face shifts, into something sort of… defensive. Wary, almost. “Do you have a problem with bisexuals?”

“What?” Oh shit. “No, of- of course not! I- I love bisexuals! All of the- um,” Zuko’s mind races, trying to think of a bi person he knows personally, and then frantically widening its search to any bisexual human being in all of recorded history. “Jet! Jet’s bi! Love Jet, he’s, um. Yeah! Bi.”

Sokka’s face isn’t defensive anymore, but it is shocked. And- something else, Zuko can’t quite place. “You love Jet?”

“What?”

“You just said you loved Jet.” Sokka says, sort of quietly. “I just- I guess I didn’t know you guys were at that point.”

Zuko absolutely does not love Jet. Only Jet loves Jet. But Sokka’s looking at him, lit by the artificial glow of the TV, still the most attractive thing Zuko’s ever seen. So Zuko’s self-preservation instinct kicks in. “Uh. Yeah, you know.” He swallows. “It’s still pretty new, but. Yeah.”

“Well hey, that’s.” Sokka gives a small smile. “That’s great.” He places his hands on his thighs, pushing up off the couch. “I’m just gonna text everybody, see if we can get the night planned.”

He walks away, leaving Zuko to his mental breakdown in peace.

Sokka’s bi.

Sokka.

Is bi.

[later that week or some transition i haven’t written lmao]

“Zuko, you know I’m bi, right?” Suki laughs, but the grin slides off her face when Zuko hesitates. “You know that, right.”

Zuko makes a reluctant face. “I know now…?”

“Oh my-“ Suki stares at him, then looks at Sokka who makes a face as if to say ‘see, what did I tell you’. “Ew, Zuko!” She cries. “Ew, you thought- you thought I was straight?!”

“You had a boyfriend,” Zuko defends himself weakly.

Suki looks like she wants to scream. “I’ve never been so offended in my entire life.”

“Now you know how I feel.” Sokka says.

“Me! A straight girl!” She laughs, slightly hysterical. “Me!”

“Okay, I guess I just-” Zuko starts, but Suki holds out two fingers in front of his face, shutting him up.

“No no, that’s enough from you today.” She looks, wide-eyed, at Sokka. “What do I have to do, paint the fucking bi flag on my face?”

Sokka snorts. “He wouldn’t recognise it, anyway.”

Suki turns back to glare at Zuko. “I thought we were friends, Zuko.”

and then in a perfect world this would be followed by a montage of all the times sokka has definitely been openly bisexual in front of ‘still coming to terms with his own sexuality’ zuko who’d just. wrote it off as bro culture

hi there i am goy and i’m writing a dark fantasy book abt witches and i’ve made the baltic/slavic protagonist have red hair and be burned at the stake for it (because of how the spanish inquisition killed them thinking they stole the fires of hell) along with being a pagan.

but- i recently learned about how redheads were associated with jews and as a result were persecuted as much as they were, and how it is a widely ignored.

so i don’t really know where to go from here lmao i’m afraid of having this girl’s death be the cause of historical antisemitism, but not be jewish.

i understand if you don’t feel comfy with this i’ve just been doing deep dives into harmful stereotypes that i do not want my characters to portray in any way. i would really appreciate it, the whole point of my book is gonna be just gay poc (also religious) witches that take down the patriarchy and i want to be responsible and respectful for these kind of things - otherwise it would just be a very hypocritical thing.

listen, most things in (medieval) european history end up having ties to antisemitism. this is just how it works. yes, the redheaded witch stereotype has ties to antisemitism. so does burning witches at the stake in the first place. a lot of later witch stereotypes are in and of themselves very antisemitic.

my recommendation? make a jewish character part of your gay witches of color gang. a. there are jews of color, so you don't have to change that aspect b. it enriches your storytelling and the impact it has historically and c. it would be really satisfying for me, personally, to see some jews kick some european ass (btw I recently read the faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home - did not fucking expect the historical jewish lesbian rep I got but very appreciated).

it's okay that the character being burned at the stake isn't jewish. practically, while antisemitism fueled witch-hunting, antisemitic violence mostly led to outright violence in the form of pogroms and blood libels. but if you're going to make a story about the victims of the church, maybe include the ethnic group that couldn't rely on a home for two thousand years because of it.

(seriously - tfowwsliyh is so good, makes sure to include more than one jewish character, acknowledges the reality of antisemitism in the 19th century, actually visits a shtetl - just so many good things)

fellow jumblr writers such as myself - feel free to add any input you want in reblogs and the notes, but personally I think the easiest way to not erase the history of antisemitism is simply to include the history of antisemitism.

Ok here's something that I spend a lot of time thinking about, especially as a fic writer, which is the energy a show gives us and whether or not a fandom matches it.

I'll admit I've never been active in the fandom of an office sitcom but I have been in the fandoms for serious dramas and for dramedies and I've found that while every fandom has its share of fluff and angst in general comedic content fandoms tend to take the content much more seriously than the original material. I'm specifically talking about leverage right now, because that's my most recent obsessions, but I've seen it happen in other fandoms as well. If a piece of media doesn't take itself seriously, the fandom will.

So in leverage so much of the fic is dedicated to Eliot and Harrison's trauma. A lot of it goes into how Parker's mind works and how she has trouble trusting. Where the show plays her poking Eliot for laughs fic will acknowledge that that shows she isn't afraid of Eliot and say, okay, that means something. I was surprised at first to see just how much fic features Eliot/Moreau until I realized that it wasn't shipping, per se, it was an exploration of abuse and how damaging it is to love the wrong person. I mostly read ot3 but I'm sure the same also applies in other sides of the fandom to Sophie's identity crisis and Nate's just, immense amounts of trauma and mental illness.

And I'm just comparing it the source material and seeing how few dramatic moments there are that feel like this. The big bang job is glossed over and never mentioned again, even though Eliot had to kill again and I'm fact killed a dozen and more people and he doesn't like guns because it makes killing so easy, so so easy. Hardison HAS to have claustrophobia now, having been both drowned and buried alive, and that's just never talked about. That's not to say that these characters are taken lightly - the reality of Parker's time in the foster system as traumatic is treated seriously, as is Nate's trauma with hospitals and sick children, but the consequences of things that happen within the show are often forgotten in favor of more positive character development.

But the fandom doesn't let go. The fandom says: we love these characters, and that means we love the light-hearted show versions but also the ones that are hurt and traumatized and survivors. And I love that. I really do.

i literally. i don't wanna be like "i hate the confession" bc this is the ONLY way we were gonna get a love confession and gay cas like. he HAD to die. it was set up. it had to happen the way it did bc of. homophobia. it STILL pisses me off. it STILL annoys me that this is ALL we got. here’s a numbered list.

1. everything surrounding the circumstances of the empty deal is DUMB. the bigger picture implications of cas sacrificing himself for jack when he has a moment of true happiness is lazy. it doesn't make narrative sense. it's boring. spn is just worse buffy and it SHOWS. the empty sucks as a concept.

2. while i appreciate the fact that cas never cried until the confession, i feel like that's dumb too. he should've cried over jack in 12.19 the future when he put his hand on kelly's baby belly. 

3. the actual confession like, kinda sucks? it's way too generic considering they have over a decade of stuff to work with and they have (well, it was intentional queerbait) written more romantic lines. with the amount of fix it fics, SOOO many people could've written this speech better. it's just bad. it probably went thru the ringer a bunch so i'm not. mad. at. who wrote it. dabb? again i'm mad at thee system. but i'm still mad. 

4. jackles i am firmly on the "dean is bad at reacting things he doesn't understand so i buy that ur face had to be kinda stoic" HOWEVER he should've SAID SOMETHING. ANYTHING. dean goes mute when he’s dealing with trauma, but he ALWAYS has something to say in times of distress

5. confessing your love and then dying, even if it's a sacrifice to save them, you still KNOW that you're gonna die and leave them. cas KNOWS dean and he KNOWS that this will fuck with him. maybe not the true extent (s13 widower arc) but if cas truly believes that dean is full of love, then he WOULD understand that dean DOES love him, at LEAST like family. 

6. and if you wanna buy into the "dean was gonna confess in 15.09 and cas stopped him" that makes the confession scene even WORSE and not in a fun way. i'm upset. i would think that cas KNOWS dean and KNOWS that the sacrificial confession would screw with him and make him unhappy (the reason behind the unhappiness being anger, resentment, etc depending on how you think dean feels, but STILL it would be a negative emotion) 

7. cas could NEVER associate a love confession from himself as a positive emotion. i think he INHERENTLY would tie it to negative emotions. bc they ARE a tragedy. they were written to be a tragedy bc it's the cw. they had to be a tragedy bc it's spn and then they DIDN'T WRITE IT WELL. god none of this makes sense it's almost 1 am. have fun w this. also it's why i like to subscribe to the "cas stopped dean from confessing in the trap" AND "the empty didn't come after the confession until dean said "i love you too" bc it makes more sense. 

8. also it's not about "undervaluing your significance" it's abt BAD WRITING. like. there's so many ways to interpret the confession depending on how you go into it and how you perceive their relationship. and NONE of them are good (story wise, not morally).

reading: the new Cassandra Clare book, Chain of Iron. it’s boring and homophobic. in the first book of this series, we find out that the heroine’s brother is gay and in a relationship with a man who has no intention of ever coming out publicly because 1) the book is set in 1903 in England, it was literally illegal and 2) he’s trying to have a career in politics. the heroine decides that this means he’s ashamed of her brother and doesn’t deserve him, and she is present and active in their breakup conversation.

above is the relationship chart I made from the first book, it really hasn’t changed much except now the main guy and the main girl are married, the lesbians got back together and then broke up again, the main girl’s gay brother hooked up with one of her husband’s friend, who’s a Good Gay and therefore worthy of love unlike the Bad Gay ex who is constantly mocked by just about every character for. checks notes. caring about appearances and manners given that his life and career are based on those things. the brother and his new love interest break up because the brother still thinks he’s a bad person for ever having dated his ex. also the main girl has now platonically run off to Paris with her husband’s platonic soulmate who is allegedly in love with her but it’s really unconvincing that he’s not actually in love with her husband (he’s not for very stupid lore reasons, the whole ‘parabatai are magically prevented from being romantically in love, except for these two straight people, when historically parabatai pairs were two men’ makes my fucking blood boil)

you might ask why I still read these books even though they make me angry and the answer is the 1) the aesthetic slaps 2) some of the characters are fun 3) the premise has enough potential that it could be good if it was good 4) sometimes I need to get cathartically angry abt bad fiction bc it just. does not matter

Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood: my roommate pitched this to me as ‘cyberpunk but in the 1930s’ and there sure is dark lighting, lots of glowy neon stuff, and government oppression, which are the most important elements of cyberpunk apparently. not sure how I feel about it yet, because there’s a cool shapeshifting lady assassin with a revenge quest but there’s also a trans character who was revealed to be trans in a way that I personally did not enjoy. yes you can have transphobic villains but like. hmm. maybe the audience shouldn’t find out that someone is trans because the villain cuts his shirt away specifically to ~put him in his place. or maybe I personally am just sensitive to that but either way no thank you

making: Zan and I made some real good chicken parm the other night, vaguely based on this recipe. by which I mean, we looked at the recipe to see how many eggs to use and how long to cook it and pretty much nothing else. the egg marinade step seemed unnecessary and I made the sauce the way I always make tomato sauce, which some day I should write down because it does in fact fuck. the secret is a shit-ton of oregano and basil and no chunks of tomato because fuck that. bad texture

GOSH this is a lot of questions, lemme give it my best shot.

1.) I sometimes still post art on my art instagram, but I prefer not to cross the beams of that and my tumblr so much. If someone rlly wants the handle tho, feel free to ask. 

2.) If this means like...nicknames, too many to count. One of my first URLs was something like “pensword,” which was a reference to Percy Jackson!

3.) I was KINDA in it in 2017 when the first movie came out, but it didn’t hold my attention too much. In September 2020, I really got into IT, tho! I got into it because I realized it was coming up on a year since I saw the second one in theaters (during a wind advisory night in the city I go to college, on Halloween). For a couple of silly reasons (my ex belittling IT a little and me being weirdly internalized homophobic abt it) I was scared to enjoy it publicly haha

4.) My favorite ship in the fandom, ofc, is Reddie! I am kinda basic so I also really think Ben and Bev are sweet. I also really liked Patty and Stan together in the book... they were so achingly sweet together that the bath chapter made me cry for a HOT MINUTE.

Richie is my all time favorite character for reasons I could probably write like 50 pages on! Some of those reasons are like super-duper personal lol so I pull punches on just dumping them on my blog haha! I just really really related to him for a lot of reasons (the humor coping mechanism and the werewolf thingy, to name a couple) so it was only natural I latched onto that boy and went full send kinnie moment!

Eddie is my second favorite bc I love him and wanted the best for him (I don’t want to start disc horse on tumblr, but my gf and I have schemed abt who should have kicked it at the end and it ain’t him). I also have a soft spot for kid Ben in the book, bc I really thought he was a sweetheart (I mean, cmon, walking around whispering Bev’s name? Adorable! Hiding away in libraries? Relatable!)

5.) I’ve done a bunch of stuff! This blog has a ton of IT content. I have made a bunch of fan art (most of which hasn’t been posted sdjbvkdsjbvk). I have written a couple fanfics (a finished oneshot and one unfinished longer one that will...probably stay that way). I have a reddie playlist on spotify, too.

6.) There’s been a few people who’ve done some IT stuff I’ve really liked! Uhh @stitchyarts  wrote some fics and has done some beautiful art to go with it that I really liked!! @skelesocks did some HELLA charming art, tho is now mostly Queen blog. No shade there, I have a Queen blog, too, lol. Ask for the URL if you want it. Both of them focused on the miniseries tho.

There’s a couple artists who have done Reddie stuff I have really liked, too, which is super inspiring. here’s a few of those: @trashcanprince @mxgicdave @meowsteryyy ..... tbh fave IT blog of all time tho has to be my gf, em, @dr-kaspbrakmd , bc she got me full swing obsessing and also it was a big bonding thing for us early into the relationship *pauses for crowd to say AWWWWW*

7.) Assuming this means fanfics, like I said, a lot of Stitchy’s works, especially Tinted Windows and TV Guides (which now i rlly want to re-read lol). I kinda have a hard time with fanfic reading bc im picky and sometimes it’s better to daydream my own stories. The other Reddie fics I’ve liked will make yall get the shepherd’s hook and yoink me off stage for public indecency for sure so I’m gonna leave that to ur imagination <3

8.) I feel positively heinous and pick-me trying to get ppl to read my old reddie fics that I wrote during the crushing weight of crippling lonliness so no. they r also not rlly that good so you’re welcome <3

9.) No actually! I have thought about it. I have also schemed the idea of starting my own reddie zine and being super choosey about who gets in but that’s just me wanting to curate content I like lollll.

10.) uhhh decorum, understanding of complex relationships/emotional situations, and the common sense not to fetishize gay men <3 that sounds rlly snotty but there’s some activity tm in this fandom that yucks me out big time. Also, I wish more ppl would have seen the miniseries/read the book but that’s just me being choosy.

Gender Headcanon: Trans dude!! I have seen so many headcanons abt trans Reigen and it is GOOD!!!

A ship I have with said character: SERIREI serirei genuinely makes me so gentle like...these are just two guys!! They are just hanging out!!! I love them so deeply they are such a gentle ship and it’s highkey like one of the few things from 2020 that was like a reliable serotonin up for me it’s just....they are so funny and gentle idk!! It’s good!!

A BROTP I have with said character: I do think he and Dimple are kind of like friends. At first maybe it was just like the weird solidarity of being the only two adults in a room full of middle schoolers but I think they have a compatible sense of humor and after a while they become very odd weirdly close friends.

A NOTP I have with said character: Hhhh. Take one look at the AO3 page for MP100 and you can probably guess a couple that I don’t feel like naming explicitly.

A random headcanon: God. Full stop completely serious--random Reigen headcanons can literally make me cry from laughing because he is Just Some Guy. He Is Just A Guy. Anyways sometimes the cashier at the grocery store bags his items too fast and he has to rush to grab all the bags and it stresses him out. This combined with another headcanon (2 for 1!) that he is great at clipping coupons but forgets to use them because he’s horrible at organizing them makes me really question the romance of a Serirei grocery store date but want to write it anyways.

General Opinion over said character: I literally love him. I’ve talked with @starlitsequins literally so fucking much about how Reigen is genuinely one of the most unique characters we’ve ever encountered. He really quit his job, thought “Hm. Okay. I’m good at lying so let’s roll with that” and created this weirdly fulfilling life out of it. He really said “your life is your own and anyone can be a good person because being good is a choice and not a trait and that you aren’t better or worse than anyone else”. He makes me go wild. He’s so sweaty but also so right all the time. I genuinely can’t say anything like. coherent about Reigen because it’s all just “I love him! He’s so right! He’s so interesting! Funny little man!” He’s great 10/10.

Sexuality Headcanon: Asexual? I guess? I don’t think (I hope) Dimple has sexual attraction. I’m like 99% sure that’s canon.

Gender Headcanon: No gender. He just vibes. I’m pretty sure that’s also canon.

A ship I have with said character: None. Absolutely none. I can’t think about him in a sexual way or I’ll cry. Fuck. Dimple/Disneyified version of Dimple that’s pink with eyelashes because that’s probably what they’d do.
