Things are not the same without Beatrice and Bertrand around.

~2.4k. Kit Snicket / Frank Denouement. pre-canon. timeline is not long after b&b left VFD, and way before k&d ever got together.

It’s very late that night when Kit arrives at the Hotel Denouement.

Her messily tied up hair and long black coat are both wet from the heavy rain. The umbrella barely had any effect during the short distance from the hotel’s parking lot to the lobby. She grimaces as she closes the umbrella, and surveys the lobby out of habit.

It’s pretty late already, and due to the weather, barely any guests are arriving at this hour, so the lobby is quite empty. There’s a concierge mopping the floor at one corner, and at the front desk, Frank Denouement raises his head and meets her eyes.

“I thought you’re coming back tomorrow,” he says, his tone neutral as usual, like it usually is when in public, even though the lobby is very nearly empty.

“I was,” she makes a face. “But the road to the small inn I was originally planning to stay at is completely flooded, so I thought I’d drive back to The City. It’s just a couple more hours anyway - far fewer traffic than usual as well, because most people aren’t going out in this rain.”

“Rational people,” he remarks.

She rolls her eyes. “Yeah, yeah, whatever.”

A hint of a smile appears on his lips ever so briefly before disappearing again, and he hands her the key to her usual room. “Go take a shower, Snicket. You’re ruining my just cleaned lobby floor.”

“How unfortunate,” she drawls, taking the key. “See you after your shift.”

2 hours later, after she’s properly showered and dried up and made herself a nice cup of tea while reviewing the notes in her commonplace book, she knocked on the door of Frank’s office - he’d just about gotten off shift.

“K,” he nods when he opens the door, letting her in.

“F,” she replies.

The door clicks shut behind her.

“Things aren’t looking good,” she says, cutting directly to the subject of her latest assignment. “As we suspected, some of G’s notes on the fungus were stolen before the fire, and it’s fallen into the hands of some firestarters who didn’t actually recognize the value or the danger of them. However, after they were all killed during the firestarters’ infighting two months ago, the notes have been lost and there are barely any leads on how to track them down.” She pauses. “I mean, best case scenario, they’re all destroyed. But since they’re just completely gone - I rather suspect that we’re not so lucky.”

He frowns. “Because if indeed no one recognizes the value or danger of it, they wouldn’t have paid much attention to it and we’d probably still find scraps somewhere.”

“Exactly,” she replies. “Which means, obviously, that someone collected them and hid them somewhere. It could be a volunteer - but I haven’t heard anything from anyone - and it could also be someone on the other side of the schism. That would be very dangerous indeed. Granted, they probably couldn’t continue the research too far without proper equipment and all that like G did, but the longer that information is out there in the open, the more risks it poses.”

He closes his eyes, silent for a moment. When he opens his eyes again, he says, “and we cannot be sure if a VFD volunteer having that information stored secretly is a safe thing, either. I mean, look at G …” he trails off meaningfully.

“We wouldn’t want another repeat of that,” she agrees. “Still, they might not be as volatile as G. But G didn’t use to be volatile either, and look how he turned out.” Her face is grim. “It’s almost like getting too deep in this specific research makes one volatile.”

He leans back against his office chair, his gaze holding hers. “Getting too deep in anything increases one’s chances of getting volatile, perhaps.”

She looks back at him, and for a moment, the silence in the room is tense. And then she says, abruptly, “I’ll make some tea.”

Not waiting for an answer, she stands up, and walks over to a counter and starts making tea. He doesn’t say anything.

“So,” she says, a little forcefully perhaps, as she sits down again once tea is ready, pouring herself and him a cup of tea respectively. “How are things on the recruitment front in The City?”

He tilts his head, his eyes narrowing, “You didn’t hear from J?”

“Haven’t got the chance to talk to him,” she says briskly. “We’ve both been busy.”

His lips are pressed into a thin line, in his usual disapproving manner that he rarely bothers hiding when they’re in private. But he doesn’t comment on her tumultuous sibling relationship with Jacques, and instead just says, “It’s getting harder and harder these days, especially with the new restrictions around The City. The High Court passed a new ruling the other day - you’ve probably heard - it was all over the radio.”

She scowls. “I’ve been long saying that I think our enemies have people on the inside - someone in certain positions that can influence the judges of the High Court. It’s their way of cutting VFD recruitment.”

“I’m fairly certain so as well - but we don’t know how high up they are. I mean, the fact that it’s been hard for us to get anyone in there suggests someone is blocking us out. Honestly, I told them to abandon these attempts - it’s quite futile by this point. We’d be much more effective trying to collect blackmail material on people if we want to influence the decision making.”

“Speaking of which, did the concierges collect any interesting gossip recently?”

“None too useful,” he replies. “As you know, most of the time spying is just collecting piles and piles of irrelevant information that may never be of use. Dewey’s been pulling late nights as well just filtering those information and categorizing them so we can easily look them up later. But so far, not much has come up.”

“How is he doing, by the way?” She asks.

Frank doesn’t answer immediately.

“As usual,” he says, finally, then adds. “He misses B. Both of them, really.”

Kit gazes out the window at the falling rain. “I know how that feels.”

We all do, he thinks. “It’s been … quiet. Without her around, especially.”

Her lips twist slightly, “As my brother often says …”

“... the world is too quiet without her nearby,” he finishes for her, then exhales. He thinks about Beatrice - ever so loud and full of life and overly dramatic and a constant annoyance in his life, until she no longer is. Beatrice. Energetic and full of emotions and feelings and never shy from displaying them.

How is someone so full of emotions and feelings so capable of - simply just cutting her old life loose and never looking back, he wonders.

For a moment, there’s only the sound of the rain splashing against the window in the quiet office. Frank meets Kit’s eyes, and knows that she’s thinking of the same thing. They’ve known each other too long at this point - just like they’d both known Beatrice and Bertrand for so many years.

Or at least, they thought they knew them.

Beatrice. Loud, energetic Beatrice. And Bertrand - calm and steady and dependable to many, with a hidden witty and sarcastic nature reserved just for close friends.

“It’s not the same, without them,” he admits, a rare moment of raw honesty. He doesn’t admit this in front of Dewey, insisting on saying things are in fact fine, just the same, partly to reassure Dewey, partly because he doesn’t like being vulnerable in front of Dewey, who he always felt like he should protect. And with Ernest - they don’t talk about Bertrand, who Ernest likes to pretend nothing ever happened between them to deal with the fact Bertrand was willing to leave VFD for Beatrice but not for him, and they don’t talk about Beatrice either, because that subject is never going to lead to anything good. They argue enough, as it is. No need to dive into a controversial topic that’ll surely end unpleasantly.

Kit, though - oddly enough, it seems easier, with her. Perhaps because they miss Beatrice and Bertrand similarly - not exactly the same way, but the closeness to them had been similar. And he doesn’t have the sense of duty or obligation to shelter her away from things as he does with Dewey, doesn’t have the strong urge to pretend things are fine to reassure her.

They always seem to share the same views on many things, and perhaps that’s also what makes it easier. They have the same kind of ruthless efficiency when it comes to VFD missions. They’re the ones making the tough calls, the necessary decisions, regardless how morally ambiguous those decisions may seem.

Jacques, he thinks, lacks the same edge. Bless him. He might actually be more loyal and believing in VFD’s ideals than either of them, but there have always been certain lines he wouldn’t cross. Frank admires that in him. He hopes he stays that way.

As for himself and Kit - they’ll make the necessary decisions so the others don’t have to. Decisions such as hiring children as concierge so they can gather information while hiding at places adults cannot fit in, probably.

When he looks at his brothers, it’s like literally looking into a mirror. But when he looks at Kit - sometimes it’s like metaphorically looking into one, he thinks.

“I still - almost hear Bertrand’s voice telling me to slow down, when I’m driving,” she confesses.

“Ah, your impulse control,” he remarks loftily.

She scoffs. “I don’t drive impulsively - every turn and acceleration is calculated.”

He rolls his eyes. “If you say so,” he permits, airily.

They’re silent for a few moments, before she asks, “You done with all your work tonight?”

“Work’s never done,” he shrugs. “But there’s always tomorrow.”

Her mouth curves up, a hint of faint amusement. “True,” she murmurs. She takes a deep breath, and looks at him. For the briefest second, her eyes are unusually hesitant, but then it’s gone. “I don’t quite want to be alone tonight,” she says. There isn’t much emotion in her eyes as she says this.

Is that the real reason you drove all the way back to The City? He wonders silently.

“We could watch a movie,” he offers. He knows that she and Bertrand used to do so, on rainy nights when they were forced to stay at the hotel after something was cancelled.

She looks at him. “Yeah, we could,” she agrees.

They go to her room and watch an artsy indie film he randomly selects from his shelf. It’s terribly boring and they’ve both had a long day, so they end up both falling asleep. When he opens his eyes again, the end credits are rolling.

Beside him, her head rests against his shoulder.

It’s only in these moments does he really notice her alikeness with Jacques, he thinks. Perhaps it’s because he’s too used to and knows too much about the difference of their personalities, that he often doesn’t see their similarities. But her eyes are closed and she’s not talking now, just lying there, having fallen asleep, and he immediately gets reminded of how they actually look quite alike.

He tries to carefully shift himself so her head can be on the pillow instead of his shoulder, but she wakes up at the movement, blinking wearily. “You suck at selecting movies,” she says.

He rolls his eyes. “You try next time, then.”

She scoffs, sitting up and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

“I hate him,” she says, suddenly. No context or whatsoever, no prefacing, no specific names or initials. But he immediately knows what she’s talking about.

He also knows that she doesn’t really hate Bertrand. She just misses him. She probably feels similarly about Beatrice as well, but she’d never declare out loud anything close to hating Beatrice.

“Yeah, me too,” he says, softly.

He isn’t exactly sure who started it, or how exactly did things suddenly shift, but the next moment, their eyes meet - she has Jacques’s eyes, he thinks, he always knows, of course, but still - and she’s pretty. Not in the Beatrice type of way, flashy and glamorous and takes everyone’s breath away, but she’s pretty. Her features and expression always a little too sharp type of pretty.

They kiss.

It’s - okay. Not lackluster, but also not thrilling or electric. It’s fine. Normal. Sort of nice to be able to have another pair of lips on his again after so long, actually. Doesn’t completely fill all the silence and void left behind and the Beatrice and Bertrand shaped hole, but - it’s something.

“You know, we’d make a terrible pair of lovers,” she says.

“Oh, absolutely,” he agrees. “We’re too similar.”

A ghost of a smile dances across her lips. “Exactly.” She pauses, and then adds. “If you tell anyone about tonight, I’ll murder you.”

He rolls his eyes. “Same goes for you,” he says.

Her lips pull up, a sharp, mean, teasing glint in her eyes. “Kiss on it?”

“Oh, very funny,” he scoffs.

They look at each other.

“Well, one last time,” he says. “One for the road, as they say.”

“One for the road,” she murmurs.

They kiss. Slow, steady, calm. Two lonely volunteers on a rainy night. It’s - nice, to just have another body this close that he can almost feel the warmth radiating from it. In the morning they’ll go back to being volunteers. Hardworking volunteers who don’t mind loneliness. There’s no sparkling chemistry in the kiss, but he doesn’t want any of that tonight anyway. He just wants - some physical intimacy with someone he can absolutely trust.

“I’ve always wondered,” he says. “Have you and Bertrand ever …”

“Oh, never,” she says.

“Huh,” he says. “Your loss, then, I suppose.”

She leans backwards onto the pillow, and starts to laugh.

He picks up his suit jacket on the chair, putting it on, and takes the videotape out. “Well, I should go.”

“Turn off the lights for me, will you?” she calls, from the bed.

“Sure,” he agrees. “I’ll see you in the morning, K.”

“Bye, F.”

He turns off the light and takes his leave, heading back to his office.

Fandom creators tag game

1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of? Mostly I write fanfiction. Sometimes I make little needle felted character dolls. Over all proudest is probably still The Hands I Used to Touch (Call the Midwife), but for my current fandom (Supergirl) it's Forgotten, Not Forgiven, as that is my latest big project and home to all the fluffy supercorp that I need in my life (okay not in the published chapters but IT WILL BE EVENTUALLY I PROMISE)

2. What fandom(s) do you create for? Right now just Supergirl, and I have only written three fics for that one so far (but hopefully more to come!) Before that it was Call the Midwife.

3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it? Supercorp, ie Kara/Lena for Supergirl (I know, I’m so quiet about it on this blog you would never have guessed). It occupies an interesting space of being simultaneously entirely non controversial in that it is by far the biggest ship I have ever engaged with, while also being extremely divisive, both within and beyond fandom spaces. But I arrived here LONG after most of that had happened, and am now just happily playing in the sandpit of creative space while the bones of drama stay *mostly* buried. Always a bit of a shock when one rises up to try and kick down your sandcastle though (yes, I am aware that that is a mildly horrifying visual)

4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon? They are not (TECHNICALLY), but there is enough raw material in canon to build The São João Baptista, and that is enough for me. That and the 21,302 (and counting) fics with their relationship tag on AO3.

5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you? The first I actually engaged with other fans over was Call The Midwife in my early 20s, and that was because I snapped after seeing one too many tv lesbians get hit by a car.

6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date? Unhinged is not really my brand so I don't really have anything good for this one. Is Kara gets accidentally miniaturized unhinged? Or a bait and switch Lena "villain" arc? I think probably not really to either, but that's the closest I've got for this fandom so far...

7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it? The aforementioned incident between Delia and a car, which left her with amnesia and taken away to Wales mere moments after she and Patsy had moved in together. But I’m over it. Honest.

8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations? Not usually, I get shy about it. The exceptions are my wife (but we met via fandom so that one maybe doesn’t count) and on occasion my best friend, who talked me round by being an enthusiastic sweetheart.

9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made? A few people have made fan art for my fics and it felt like the absolute highest compliment that could be paid to my writing. It was amazing to know that something I wrote meant enough to people to inspire them to go and create their own thing from it, and I loved getting to see other people’s takes on the version of the characters/story I had created. I think it's one of the best things about fandom communities! But I do understand why other people might feel differently about something they have poured so much of themselves into making, so I guess the main thing is trying to be respectful with it, crediting the source, and accepting people's boundaries. Basically I think we should all just be kind to each other and have fun.

10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations? I'm generally seeking my own catharsis through writing fix-it fic for painful things that happened in canon, so I guess a certain amount of pain followed by the eventual fluffy feel good satisfaction of resolution, but honestly I consider it a win if I can evoke a whole spectrum of emotions along the way.

11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it? Someone once liked my fic so much that she married me about it, so it’s hard to beat that haha. But on a more usual level, people making fanart for my fic was a HUGE one. And also just when people have left particularly in depth comments, commented on every chapter, told me they're rereading or that a fic of mine was their favourite etc... Basically just knowing that something I made has really meant something to someone gives me all of the warm fuzzy feelings, and I am very grateful to each and every person who has taken the time to tell me so!

12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!) Originally I had the bouquet toss ficlet by @fazedlight here, because it just captures the characters so beautifully, but then I left this sitting in my drafts and it is now more than 24 hours ago that I saw it, so I'll add this adorable art by @awaitingrain, because LOOK AT IT! They are so cute??! Also I relate to gentle nomming as a display of affection XD

13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share) "Lena Luthor was dangling from the side of a cliff, nothing between her and the vast chasm of space below but the small jutting nodule she was clinging to to keep from falling.

14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several) SO MANY!! it’s hard to pick a favourite of hers honestly because she is a RIDICULOUSLY good writer, but I’m going to go with The Next Best Thing by @cynicalrainbows. I don’t tend to read many kidfics but this one is the absolute best I have come across, she captures the child perspective fantastically well while also being incredibly engaging and entertaining to an adult reader. It is what successfully pulled me into reading Six fanfic despite (at that point) never having seen the musical. Even if you haven’t either, I wholeheartedly recommend checking it out. Or go and read her new Paperdolls fic and help grow that fandom, which I think currently has all of two people in it!

15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style? I do! I know how much I love it when people do it for me, so I try to leave comments on every chapter of the fics I read (or add tag notes for tumblr art/fic reblogs), and give specifics about what I like about it. Sometimes I just fully liveblog the fic reading experience, which is always fun. I also find it makes you engage and appreciate the work more because you’re taking your time to really think about it, AND it makes an author happy to receive (at least so I hope), which makes me happy.

16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all? Not counting a couple of dump documents of ideas and snippets, technically 3, I guess? One is Forgotten, Not Forgiven (Supergirl) which is my big one and will definitely be finished. The others are less certain – Storybooks and Siren Suits (Call The Midwife) is the one kidfic I have ever written, and is both my longest story at 151,020 (published) words, and also the one I am least likely to finish, because it has been stuck on the same chapter for around 3 years now. The other is Small Problem… (Supergirl) which could be counted as a finished oneshot, but I will probably end up adding further Adventures of Tiny Kara at some point.

17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?Well, see above re: 3 year stall on new updates. For actually fully finished and published stories I think it was around 6 months.

18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published! Lena discovers Kara in Lex’s bed, then decides to lure her into friendship under false pretenses. Alex helps her do it. Forgotten, Not Forgiven.

19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it? See above re: getting into fanfiction for Six!

20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers That’s tough because there are so many amazing ones, but I think I will go with I Guess I Live Here Now by @fabulousglitch, because it was both the first fic I really got into for supercorp and also contained everything I wish the characters could have had in canon. I know I am several years late to the party so if you are in the supercorp fandom you have probably already read it, but if you haven’t read it GO READ IT, IT’S SO GOOD!

so like, this is my first time ever doing this and my first year in the fandom and i have to say, i have never found something so welcoming and warm and soft to be a part of and i feel like i will be forever grateful of it and that one day in which i had whimsically decided to create a tumblr account and started following bechloe and its bloggers. a lot has happened to me and the rest of the world this year- the pandemic, the protests, the election, us freaking out whether we would even survive the weird ass events and scares the first few months- and in that time i graduated with a (kinda lame but whatev) valedictorian speech, flew across the country by myself on a very mini vacation, started college, started a part-time job, found amazing new friends, texted on discord, freaked out over anna kendrick (and the rest of the cast) and wrote and read and laughed and cried and paced and grew more confident as a creator in such a niche fandom. it took a lot out of me trying to imagine a fictional world where characters i love have their proper voice, engaging in activities that i have personally haven’t experienced before (ie. going to a bar and having a drink, i’m underage okay sjhgsdj) but it had been fun! and exhilarating, writing something that other people enjoy and have actually experienced before.

total number of completed works: 18! wow i know thats not a lot in the grand scheme of things but its more than i was expecting considering last January i was proud of myself for posting 2 fics 😭

total word count: on ao3, 65,292! but thats not including wattpad or wips ive done this year, so hold on one moment.... 

oh... oh wow... i have more words in wips than i do in posted works and it comes to about a whopping 67,271 words but thats not including stuff in my notes app or on paper because im too lazy to go through that lmao

but anyway that puts the rough total at... 132,563 words holy crap i need to get a life-

okay in all seriousness id say weighted words hurt more than loaded fists (if you know how to use them) because its three of my all time favorite things: rex and ahsoka brotp, pure and unrefined angst, and modern aus. 

did you take any writing risks this year?: um id say posting my writing to begin with? considering im mortified of people finding out about this lmao (eg. this summer when my older brother sent this text to me after finding my wattpad, tumblr, and ao3: “so I just found out you’re a fucking nerd. the jig is up.” with a screenshot of my tumblr page and i wanted to either kill my brother or myself but unfortunately chose to do neither and just panicked by digging up blackmail to hang over his head 🤩

do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?: idk, nothing too big probably, but i really really really want to finish some of the wips im super excited about, like this angsty modern au one shot i started like last feb/march featuring anakin and ahsoka that i have sitting in my google docs with no discernible plot yet and 16,110 words 

most popular story of the year?: in terms of kudos/hits, lean on me (but let me laugh, first). basically, ahsoka purrs in her sleep, and everyone finds it very amusing (except for her). ill be honest i dont like this one; i dont like the writing but ig people seem to like it well enough?? somehow the only angst-free fic i wrote is my most popular and idk how that tracks but it does ig

okay so we’re starting off with our leader! hmm... i’d say that he has a geo vision

why? idk, i’m half sure it’s based off how calm and composed he is; i do kinda think jungwon is a picture of maturity and elegance (he literally has to take care of six children wdym)

it was kinda hard for me to choose a weapon because i kept going back-and-forth from sword to polearm, but my final pick for him would be polearm

yes this would mean that he is zhongli

a polearm would probably suit him because i see him as the kind to want some kind of control over his weapon (not saying he can’t control a sword). at the same time i feel like he’d want something lightweight which won’t bring him down

i think he’d work with the knights of favonius. working with the liyue qixing could also work for him, but considering the tension between the adepti and the qixing + the social climate of liyue makes me think that he’d want somewhere more calm

acting grandmaster jungwon? i’m down for it

spends time near the mondstadt church; he likes the peace and quiet of it

for weapon, i think he’d prefer to use a sword. we see that he’s good in a lot of areas when it comes to being an idol, so he’d perhaps want that versatility in the weapon he uses as well

i don’t see him particularly associating himself to any organization, so i think he’d simply be a wanderer. he goes from country to country as a vagabond, battling monsters along the way in order to perfect his skills

at the same time, i also see him making a lot of friends and having a bunch of connections from just about any corner of the land (more to acquaintances i suppose? heeseung doesn’t seem like the kind to let people in very quickly)

is probably very curious on elemental reactions and might be studious in a way; he would want to learn alchemy

likes stopping by mondstadt’s library when he needs to look up on something. probably keeps in contact with alchemists too

pyro vision, hands down. i was considering an electro vision for him at first but the amount of passion he has in doing the things he loves (primarily hip-hop) screams pyro to me

he would also have a claymore because let’s be real, he’d want something to get the job done quick; claymores are literally the weapon that causes the most damage

yeah he’d be diluc. or xinyan. whatever your pick is

bonks monsters for fun, fight me on this

association... i think he’d be a part of the adventurer’s guild. he strikes me as the kind of person who’d want some kind of reward for something he does for fun (in this case, mora. and a bunch of other items you can get from katheryne once you complete your daily commissions)

this is probably how he meets all his friends. if he wasn’t a part of any association, i don’t think he’d have many (not saying that he’s unable to make friends, he’d choose not to unless necessary)

strives to be a well-known adventurer, probably takes up more commissions than the average one

likes spending time in places with good ambience, food, and booze. probably is a regular at angel’s share and liyue’s street food stalls on days he comes to town

i think he’d have an electro vision. it’s something about the way he fiercely cares for other people that makes me think that this suits him best

okay hear me out but i think he’d be amazing with a bow and arrow. he seems to have the tenacity and upper body strength for it, and i don’t think he’d particularly want something that could do a quick kill, like a sword or claymore per se

uhh... yeah he’d be fischl, i suppose. idk this realization was a bit weird to me but it doesn’t seem so far off from happening

sometimes uses his skills to shoot at fruit from trees; it’s a pretty good party trick

okay so i know this is stereotypical but... cryo vision. honestly, having a geo vision would also be possible but remember that one time childe said something around the lines of the goddess of cryo having such a warm heart and she loved so much to the point it froze? yeah i think i’m basing him off the tsaritsa-

weapon would be a sword. i considered choosing a polearm for him but i think he’d want something slightly heavier that would get the job done, but not necessarily a claymore. do i think he has the capacity to use a claymore if he wanted to, though? sure why not

also seems like the kind to wander around the city when things start to calm down for the day; if he’s not being tasked on a mission, he sometimes likes to head out to huaguang stone forest

okay i think he’d have an anemo vision (and this is not because he reminds me of venti). there was another theory that said that anemo vision-holders are hard workers who sometimes don’t give themselves enough rest, and sunoo seems to make the cut. he’s crazy hardworking at things he know he’s lacking at and strives to improve

i think he’d have a catalyst (yes!! we need male catalyst characters!!); i can see him absolutely fascinated by the way catalysts work like... “there’s no solid object engineering the attacks so... what is that? it seems so cool!”

i also think he’d want to be a part of the adventurer’s guild! it keeps him busy plus he likes helping people :D

I knew this was coming and I am PREPARED. (sorry for the late answers I have an exam on Tuesday that I’m procrastinating). Also tagging @bibuddie because she also asked the same thing!

Anyway:

Why I like them: Eddie constantly tries to do the right thing, and when he realizes that what he thought was right isn’t actually, he actively tries to work on himself. He’s steadfast, loyal and dependable, and I love that about him. And he’s a dad to the cutest person in the world!

Why I don’t like them: I don’t have a reason not to like him, but I don’t like the way he internalizes and then lashes out when he feels backed into a corner, just because that trope is one that we see in all men on TV. However, he does go to work those things out, and I loved see that, because that’s the type of growth I like seeing.

Favourite episode: Honestly? As cliche as this is, 3x15. I loved seeing his past and seeing the things that shaped his character. While 3x15 did leave me with more questions than answers, I still say it was wonderful to give us that much into his life.

Other than that, 2x10′s fountain scene because he’s so unsure and defensive about trusting Buck but Buck is his regular, steady self and Eddie ends up spilling what’s up. I think that was a great thing to see that he’s found himself someone to confide in.

Favourite season: Hm...Well in season 3, I think we saw a lot of development in his character. In season 2, we didn’t see as many emotions from him but season 3 was a whole rollercoaster. So aside from the god-awful haircut, season 3 lmao. 

Favourite line: “Buck, there’s nobody in this world I trust with my son more than you.”

Okay and I know this could be because of the Buddie shipper thing but I think that comes secondary to just...Eddie in general. Like...Christopher is the thing his world revolves around, and for him to entrust that in his best friend, I think it says as much about Eddie that it does about Buck. (and then their relationship, too).

Also equal to that is “You’re not just any kid. You’re my kid and I love you more than anything else in this world.”

I died when he said that because he’s such a good dad.

Favourite outfit: You of all people shouldn’t have to ask. Also. Two vantage points because I’m nice like that.

Also, the way that he rifled through those engines on two separate occasions has me thinking that he’s great at mechanical work. Maybe it could’ve been one of those three jobs.

 “De Nile is just a river in Egypt, Tones. You forget that I’ve known you since you were fourteen. I know what you look like when you’re pining.” Rhodey counters.

 “Fine. I think he’s smoking hot, and I would love to sit on those thighs, even if only to platonically perch there, but he doesn’t like me,” Tony mourns. “He is like wayyy out of my league.”

 Rhodey opens his mouth but Tony cuts him off, “Uh-uh-uh! I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I’d rather not dwell on it. Please, let’s go find the spiderkid and the barrel of trouble.”

 Shaking his head, Rhodey glances back over his shoulder at Barnes, who is still staring, but he follows Tony out of the room. Pining idiots.

Rhodes is going to kill me. Bucky thinks as the colonel sends one last glare over his shoulder. He groans and drops his head into his hands.

 “Hey, what’s wrong,” Steve plops down in the chair beside him.

 “Why am I here? I clearly scare Tony or at the very least make him uncomfortable,” Bucky stops when Steve coughs. It sounds something like “yeah-in-his-pants” and Bucky tilts his head, “Excuse me?”

 “I had something stuck in my throat,” Steve lies. “But honestly, Tony doesn’t mind you here. If he did, you wouldn’t be here.”

 “Why does Rhodes keep glaring at me then?”

 Steve sighs, “I don’t know, Bucky, but you’ll be ok. I think you’re just insecure because you have a hopeless crush on Tony.”

 “I don’t know how everyone doesn’t. He’s awesome. He’s so smart and kind and easy to talk to, and that ass is delicious.” Bucky sighs dreamily.

 “Why don’t you tell him that?”

 “He’s the epitome of perfection, and I’m an amnesiac assassin. You do see how that will never work out, right?” Sometimes Bucky thinks Steve lives with rose-tinted glasses.

 “And if he -hypothetically- confesses his undying love to you?” Steve queries. “Would you tell him that he’s wrong for loving you?”

 Bucky snorts, “I’m not an idiot, Steve. I would spend the rest of my life trying my best to make sure he doesn’t regret loving me. But as that will never happen, I don’t need any false hope.” He gets up and leaves, heading to the gym to take his stress out on a few punching bags.

“We need to do something about those two,” Rhodey groans.

 Sam agrees, “I know, but how? We’ve tried almost everything we could.”

 “I have a brilliant idea,” Wade speaks up. “We should have a betting pool on when they will get together. It always works in these situations.”

 “How did you even get in here?” Bruce asks. “You know what? I don’t want to know. I have so many questions about you, Wade, but I’m afraid of the answers I’d get. But I am in for the betting pool. I’ve got fifty bucks on Tony making the first move before the year is over, but not until after October 14th.”

 “Oddly specific, but I’ll take it. Fifty bucks says Tony before October 14th, but after July 31st.” Clint puts in his prediction.

 One by one, the Avengers each place their bets. “So, what are the rules?” Rhodey asks.

 “Normal betting-on-friends’ rules,” Wade tells him, as if he should know them. When Rhodey looks at him confusedly, he groans. “Ugh, how do you guys not know these things? Ok – no tampering, no dropping hints – we have to let them figure it out themselves.”

 Harley cackles, “I am going to be rich. They will never figure it out themselves.” The bet is on.

Rhodey is getting tired of hearing Tony wax poetic about Bucky’s thighs or his eyes or anything else. He wants to tell Tony to just tell Bucky. He doesn’t even care if he doesn’t win the bet. Anything would be better than listening to Tony right now.

 “Why is he so beautiful and out of reach, Rhodey?” The genius whines. “And he’s like just my type.”

 “If he’s your type, how do you know you’re not his?” Rhodey groans.

“Come on, Sour Patch, he’s had more than enough trauma in his life. He doesn’t need to be in a relationship with me.” Tony argues.

 Steve walks in, and Tony spins to greet him, “Hey Cap!” Rhodey makes a ‘kill-me’ motion behind Tony’s back, and Steve laughs.

 “Hey Tony, have you seen Bucky around?”

 “Why do you think I would have seen him?” Tony questions, voice a tad loud.

 Steve raises his hands, “I… was just asking.”

 “You could ask FRIDAY,” Tony says petulantly.

 “Right. I’ll… do that. Thanks, Tone.”

 Tony turns back around when Steve leaves. Rhodey knows he has a shit-eating grin on his face. “Wow. You got defensive, didn’t you?” He asks.

 “Shut up, Platypus. Steve is already disappointed in me. I don’t need him to hate me because I’m hopelessly in love with his best friend.”

 A glass shatters in the doorway. Rhodey looks up to see Bucky standing there, a shattered plate on the floor. Tony gulps. “Oh. Bucky.” He jumps up and runs from the room.

 Bucky looks down at the floor, then to Rhodey. “He… was lying, right? He can’t like me. He’s too good.”

 A voice that sounds like Wade’s says No tampering, but shut up Wade. I have the fate of my best friend in my hands. I’m not screwing this up. Rhodey sighs, “Listen man, you need to talk to Tony about this. If he doesn’t let you in now, give him a day or so. You know how to sneak in anywhere.” He steps over the shards, pats Bucky on the shoulder, and walks out of the room.

“Tony?” Bucky finds Tony sitting with his head in his hands on the couch in his workshop.

 “I’m sorry, Bucky. You never were supposed to know. I can move back to Malibu. Whatever it takes to help you feel better around here. You don’t need me fucking up your life.”

 “So you mean it? You love me?” Bucky questions, daring to hope.

 Tony refuses to look at him, but after a few minutes’ consideration, replies, “Yes, and I am so, so sorry.”

“Don’t be. I am completely and irrevocably in love with you as well. I just didn’t want you to know because you are perfection, and I am… decidedly not.” Bucky sits down beside him.

 Tony glances over at him now, “You – you are? And I am not perfection. I’m the most fucked-up one here. I’m a monster.”

 “Hey, no you’re not. Don’t talk about the love of my life that way. I might get sad.” Bucky pulls him into a hug. “How about this? We go get dinner, and we don’t think either of us is worse than the other. We can be broken together.”

1. Which character are you most excited to learn the endgame of: 

Look, we all know my answer is Bellarke. I do care about all of the delinquents to varying degrees (Especially depending on which season we’re talking), but if we’re being real with each other I’d sacrifice the others over a pit of fire for Bellarke’s happiness. Especially after season six. Sue me!!

2. Which character are you most excited to learn the backstory of: Honestly, I want us to focus on the main cast that we have NOW and how we’re going forward. I don’t really care that much for Sheidheda and all, but I know we’re going to get it, sooo. I suppose if I have to choose, I’m the most curious to see what happened with Diyoza, Hope, and Octavia in the anomoly, but eh. 

3. One character who deserves a new look: Clarke and Bellamy both really do. First of all, my girl has worn the same jacket for two seasons. WHY have they refused to change their main character’s look? They haven’t kept her in the same thing for this long ever. I would also love to see her hair pulled half back or something, just for some variety. I also think part of the hair pulled back would just be a really cute callback to earlier seasons, but what do I know. 

Also, beardless Bellamy. Please. And give the man some new clothes and a HAIRCUT. I want the curls bouncy. In fact, just let Bob style his own hair because he does a better job anyway.

4. Two locations you want to revisit: THE FREAKING DROP SHIP. I don’t know how it would happen and it never will, but it’s where we started and it’s what we deserve. 

Also wouldn’t mind a Bellarke scene in that glowy cave we had Belltavia in, but shh.

5. Three brotps you hope get more screentime: 

The 100 loves ruining my BROTPS. It really does. But for the end of the show, I’d like some nice, functional:

Clurphy! These two Slytherins are great together. I hated the way everyone but Bellamy treated Clarke in S6, but I want my girl to end the show with more friends than just Bellamy. Please. 

Murphamy. Murphy annoyed me last season, but when his brotps are on, they’re on.

So, honestly, hate Raven right now and don’t care all that much for her, but I would love to see some Princess Mechanic in the last season. These OG deliquent relationships DESERVE that for the ending. 

Honorable mentions to Bellamy/Miller and Madi/Jordan as well.

6. Who will get the happiest ending: 

Who I WANT to get the happiest ending is Bellarke, but I could also really see it being Raven. 

7. Which minor or new characters you want to see more of: 

Literally the OG delinquents. That’s what we and they deserve for the final season. However, I do like Gabriel and Jordan, and wouldn’t mind seeing more of them. I wouldn’t count Diyoza as minor or new, but I love her, so more of her is always good.

Also, I don’t really care for Russel, but I love JR Bourne, so if they do something interesting with him, I’m down. I still think if they do (Which they obviously are) the Sheidheda thing as a bigger plot line, he needs to be in Russel’s (stolen?) body. JR could play a role like that, and frankly he deserves something more badass than Russel, anyway. 

8. Who will eventually snap Jordan out of the funk we see him in, at the end of 6x13: 

Bellamy would make a lot of sense, but he seems like he will be pretty engaged with the Octavia storyline. I’m going to go out on a limb and say it will be Clarke or Raven, someone more engaged with the Sanctum storyline. I might have a better answer for this after rewatching S6, though. 

9. Who will be the first to tell Bellamy he can’t immediately run into the Anomaly after Octavia: 

Obviously Hope, Gabriel, and E/cho, but IF he doesn’t end up doing it immediately, Clarke, y’all. At least, she’s going to be the most insistent about it. She just lost her mom and she’s going to be protective protective protective. Wait and see. 

10. To reference Monty’s ‘do better’ mantra: 

I would like to see it be someone like Emori, but this line has been repeated so many times, it could be anyone. 

11. To say ‘go float yourself’: 

I really would love it to be Bellamy. Pls give it to me.

Wells and Roan. Honestly, you know what, I didn’t like him, but narratively, they owe it to Finn as Clarke’s first love interest to mention him too. It doesn’t make sense to only constantly mention one former love interest and not the other. It’s just stupid. 

15. How do you think Hope and Octavia know each other (from season 6): 

I just sorta assume they all lived a weird limbo in the anomoly together. Seems like they’ve been working together to try to stop someone, but who knows with the limited info we have.

Shout Out Thank Yous!

Alrighty I can already tell that this is going to be a long ass post, so I’m just going to say general things here first. I will then address each mun under the Read More (there’s 20+ of you!), so search for your blog mentioned to find my message to you! 

This Fairy Tail OC blog is my 3rd most popular blog by follower count, just under my Vegeta (DBZ) blog which is popular because of the muse itself over the RPing. Kaito is the opposite, which is why I especially find it important to address and thank each and every mun who’s interacted with me through this blog. For actual posts made it is only second to my personal, which just affirms  that this blog has earned its popularity (and bronze medal) here in my opinion. 

I put in my all and beyond to this blog especially, how it’s navigated, organizing the threads and tags as much as I can so me (and you) can read back on things whenever we want, will use it as a template for my other muses/blogs too haha. Kaito (and my other OCs) have grown as characters thanks to the interactions here, especially when it comes to ships! I also have done the most mun/muse vs muse posts here (Shiro has his own tag FFS lmao), which I’m pleased that many of you are a fan of (the posts, not Shiro!) 

To all my followers, thank you for following and sticking with me, esp those from the beginning! To the other RP blogs I haven’t interacted with yet, I’d love to, especially you OCs! I want to also use this blog to advocate for other similar (OC) blogs, that they can also be great and relevant as canon ones with enough hard work!  Now onto the special thanks!

@crystaldragonslayer: Oh looks like the Queen Pixie has returned, the timing couldn’t have been better with your RP comeback! You are just one of the best RP partners out there, I am very grateful for the time and effort we combined together on our RPs/ships. Vivienne is just awesome and probably the main reason why Kaito is too, creating a OTP that deserves it’s own paragraph gdi!

+KaiVi: Kaito & Vivienne have a total of 69 threads by my count atm (I hope I miscounted lmao). I just love this OTP of ours to bits, it is a pleasure and honour working with you on them so far. I can’t wait to start exploring the next stage of their lives and beyond! @celestial-weirdo-lucy: We may only have one thread on here, but I love it! Your Lucy is great, and it’s awesome I get to make a spin on KaiLu by having Kaito have a crush on her already lmao. Then there’s our other ships that I’m excited to develop too! Our KaiLu bodyguard AU is probably my favorite AUs which I look forward to sharing, I’m excited for our other  AUs too (like Gods and Bleach) and ships with our other muses, damn there’s lots to RP!

@celestial-keys-princess​: The Lucy that started it all, Ava you are first mun I approached in the FT RP community and became my guide to others. KaiLu is awesome and I thank you for going through plots and headcanons with me for them! Look forward to continuing their interactions when we do! 

I appreciate you also helping me expand Kaito’s Sabertooth verse with Minerva. Kaito’s ship verse with Tori is still the only one where it’s Shiro and the female teaming up against Kaito, which is so hilarious that I will keep it there lmao. "My head…" Edward grumbled under his breath, flinching when he ran his hand through his hair. He felt an all too familiar feeling of dealing with a concussion, just what he needed. When he tried to open his eyes, but his vision is blurred and was internally grateful that he wasn't in the Medical Wing. All the open windows and light coming in through them would have just aggravate him even further. "Where am I? What happened?"

"Hagrid's dog jumped on top of you and that resulted with you hitting your head against a rock."

Edward recognized his brother's chiding voice through the haze. "That would explain a lot. Who else is here?"

"Human? Just us. Animals? Who knows. Hagrid had to help a Professor with her class dealing with some creature." Alphonse explained, he got up from his spot and sat on the cot his brother was laying on. "Don't force yourself, do you want to see a doctor?"

"I'm fine, was just caught off guard is all." Edward waved his brother's concern with a wave of his hand. He's dealt with worse and didn't want to worry Alphonse. "Did you talk to him?"

"I did." Alphonse couldn't help but chuckle at the memory. "You were right and I learned a lot more about the school to help with my research. But… he seems to be carried away with the house war they have here."

"Yeah, but at least he knows how to keep quiet about it. If you ever want talk about magical creatures or want to know about how they keep the grass green here, talk to him." Edward blinked his multiple ties to regain his vision and saw he was in Hagrid's hut. "Why are there four of you?"

"Mr. Elric isn't coming today. Professor Elric sent him to the Medical Wing, something about dealing with a concussion?"

"What happened?"

"You know how he has an epiphany with animals? Fang jumped on him and Mr. Elric fell and his head landed on a rock. Madam Promfrey is taking care of him."

"So… is class cancelled?"

Monday's Alchemy Class sat around the Alchemy Classroom, Terrence reading the note that was left on the main chalk board. "Doesn't say…"

The bricks that was behind their instructor's desk began to shift, signifying someone is entering the classroom. Out came Professor Elric, holding onto multiple notebooks in hand along with what many assume to be boxes of colored pencils. "Hello everyone, my name is Professor Elric. I am Mr. Elric's younger brother. I will be taking over for today since he got into a little accident today. Don't worry, he's okay. Brother dealt with far worse."

Everyone in the classroom looked at the Alchemy Professor, wondering what he was going to teach them. For those that went to Amestris, they knew the Professor's teaching style. It is inhuman, terrifying and right down cruel. That kind smile hides someone that could even rival Professor Snape in terms of being cold, cynical, malicious and bitter. Unlike Mr. Elric, he doesn't mince words, the only time one would get a compliment if you even remotely showed some sort of progress (it is noted that hardly ever happens in alchemy), and has said more times than they could count that he would threaten to kick them out. Mr. Elric never once ever made that threat against them. Oh sure, Mr. Elric will talk to you about it, how it would be easier for one to drop out due to outside circumstances and give one the opportunity to better oneself. Never once motioned he was going to kick or expel anyone from Alchemy. Professor Elric… is the total opposite…

"Everyone grab a journal and a set of pencils." Professor Elric instructed the students as he handed out the supplies for them to pass around. "For the remainder of the year, or until you quit or get kicked out of this class, you are to keep this journal and each week all of you are to deconstruct five items. You are to write them down in the journal and they will be checked weekly. We want to see the physical breakdown of whatever you choose, identify the materials and so on."

"…That sounds far too easy than it should." Fred whispered under his breath to his brother.

George hummed in agreement as he picked out a box of colored pencils. Each of the boxes and notebooks already had their names on it along with an unfamiliar transmutation circle or would it count as an array? He had seen it before, just not sure where.

"For extra credit, and possible brownie points, if you could create something out of said items and write it out how said item was created. If you need extra items to create that item, then you must also deconstruct them. Good news, said items could be counted for the following week and so on. Mr. Elric will go into deeper detail in your next class meeting." Professor Elric explained once everyone received their items. "For today, I wand all of you to write the Periodic Table from memory- Yes, Timothy?"

"Would you also like us to write the Alchemical Table as well?"

"…" The Professor thought for a moment before he nodded, many inwardly groaned or glared at the Slytherin for adding more to their workload. "Both tables. All of you may work together or by yourself. Keep in mind that you have a higher chance of finishing working in a group. Good luck."

Alphonse couldn't help but chuckle at seeing the students struggle to get into groups to do their work, all the while panicking about the work. It amused him how there is a periodic and alchemical chart hung on the wall that all of them had their backs turned to. Let's see how long it'll take them to take notice.

"Hey… hey… hey…. Hey… hey… Can I hide here?"

Fourth Years, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, Potions class stared at the Alchemy Teacher in bewilderment as he continuously poked Professor Snape with a wooden spoon. They were waiting for the Potion's Master to explode and kill the younger of the two. However, if anything, Professor Snape calmly got up from his seat, went into his supply closet and came out with seemingly random items. He instructed Mr. Elric to sit in his chair while he created a potion for him.

Mr. Elric silently sat down on the previously vacant seat, it unnerved everyone how compliant he is. Well, he does have a bandage wrapped around his head and his eyes are unfocused. Worry only intensified when Mr. Elric grabbed hold of Professor Snape's book and started to go on about how Potion's is a good class to take and how it reminded him of Alchemy. It was odd. Very odd.

"What are you making, Severus?"

"A potion."

"Vat kind of bozion?"

"Something to help with your concussion."

"…I haffe ein concuzion?"

"Yes."

"I think I'm going to be sick…"

"In English please."

"Zick."

"Oh, bloody hell."

"I swear! How did we not see that?"

"We should have looked around the classroom."

"We should have studied."

"How are we supposed to study for something we had no clue what we were supposed to study?"

"She does have a point."

"Remember, Mr. Elric did this to us all the time last year. We should have paid more attention to our surroundings."

"Last time that happened, Mr. Elric started to go on a tangent about toads and the color pink."

"…How?"

"That occurred after he came back from a meeting at the Ministry of Magic."

"Ah…"

"…Are we still on for Friday?"

"Yeah."

"Should we bring snacks?"

"What kind of snacks?"

Emmeline Evan, Yaxley Prang, and Wynne Ranott walked out toward their respective classes. They had just finished Monday Alchemy class and they were all peeved. Of course, the youngest of the Elric Brothers would do such a thing. Should they be surprised? No. Are they? Yes. Yes, they are.

Emmeline Evan is a Seventh year Hufflepuff, she has long straight blonde hair, soft blue eyes and tiny freckled splattered across her face. A warmhearted young lady. She's also a very blunt person and tell it as it is. Because of this nature, many come to her for mature advice. She's very dependable and wants to become a healer in the future. That being said, can get her riled up (as in quidditch of she's a huge fan of), she starts cursing like a sailor. She's extremely oblivious though and hasn't had a boyfriend yet.

Yaxley Prang is a Fifth year Hufflepuff, curly blonde hair, dark green eyes and has a kind, thoughtful smile. A sweet, empathetic young man. He often looks after his younger housemates, talking to them, listening to them if something happens. Has a huge sweet tooth and wants to open his own pastry shop. He unfortunately doesn't know much about the muggle world as he lost his muggle mother at an early age.

Wynne Ranott is a Fifth Year Slytherin has long deep orange hair, icy blue eyes and has a very angular face. Her family may have muggle blood in them, but they are angel investors. Meaning, they give money to businesses to help them achieve top status for a portion of their stock. Once they become big, they sell their stock for more money. She is the girlfriend of Timothy and realizes that he is using her for money but doesn't really care as his family is from good stock.

Ling paced around the meeting room, agitation clearly written on his face. He was dressed in his finest clothing, the entire room had the finest of cloth for drapery, decorations and whatever else is expected from someone of his standings. He wasn't looking forward to the meeting, but it had to be done. It had to be done.

An audible clicked sounded out the seemingly silent room, signifying someone had just used the back passage of the room. Turning around, Ling turned to see that the part of the wall was partially left open, but no one was coming out of it. "Lan Fan, come out already."

"…I do not see the point of me wearing this, I am your bodyguard! Not some sort of doll!" Lan Fan whispered out furiously, stepping into Ling's view. She is no longer wearing her typical uniform that made her easily blend into the shadows or wearing the porcelain mask. She is now wearing a beautiful yellow and blue western inspired cheongsam styled dress, her hair pined back with pearls and precious jewels.

"By the end of the day, you will become my future wife and Empress. With or without the approval of the elders. This will work, the moment they hear what I have to say, they'll scramble around to appease themselves and myself as well." Ling assured Lan Fan solemnly, showing her a side of himself that is hardly seen by the bodyguard. He swiftly walked over towards her and pulled her into a tight embrace. "This plan will work, we've worked it out along with Alphonse and Mei. It will work."

Lan Fan hesitantly raised her arms and wrapped them around Ling's neck. "If I may say My Lord…"

"You are allowed to say whatever comes to mind, Lan Fan. You do not need my permission."

"What if you are capable having children? That would defeat the whole purpose of this meeting?"

"Are you saying you do want kids? With me? Hehehehe~~"

Lan Fan stared at Ling with a deadpanned expression as the young Emperor let her go and prance around the room. He kept going on about the possibilities of having kids with her. Even so, it worries her. The plan they have set out to ensure to have Ling get out of marrying 50 wives but still keep peace with all 50 clans. This plan has to work.

That was just one huge thing Lan Fan is worried about. The other issue… Ling's insistence on making her his wife. Grandfather would be rolling in grave by now. If anything, she surprised he hasn't risen up from the dead just to beat them both into a bloody pulp.

A curt knock reverberated throughout the room, it caused Lan Fan to run toward the secret passage but was stopped when Ling lunged at her and swung her around the room with him. Before he did so, he kicked the hidden door closed and proceeded with his twirling. "Dance with me, Lan Fan!"

"Is it safe to come in?" Mei opened the door just enough to peek her head through and couldn't hold back a squeal at seeing Ling and Lan Fan dance around the room. She hopes one day that would be her and Alphonse one day.

Alphonse paced around the strange room on the fifth floor of Hogwarts, deep in thought. Instead of wondering why the room looked like broom closet, it now was a quaint library with a plush chair next to a lit fireplace, his mind is elsewhere. His mind is back at Xing, wondering if his future brother-in-law meeting will go alright with the elders of all fifty main clans of Xing. If this plan does not work, then all their planning will be for naught and Ling will have to marry fifty wives.

With a sigh, Alphonse allowed himself to fall onto the chair and rubbed his forehead. "This gamble better pays off."

"I do not know if I am capable of having children due to my time being a homunculus. It is heavily noted that they are incapable of having children. That is why I advise of this proposal and equal opportunity for any child of all clans to become next ruler of Xing."

Well, since it took me so long to respond to the original ones, consider me still open for asks! See below!

Orube

• favorite thing about them: Once she gets settled into Earth life, she becomes a total style icon! (I’m only half-joking, I do so love her outfits later on.) But really, Orube is badass and has a great character arc of learning to let others in and understanding what it truly means to be a warrior. 

• least favorite thing about them: It’s totally understandable that she’d react in such a way and it makes her character evolution that much richer, but the Orube of the early days still isn’t my favorite. Also, still not a fan of how her story ended in heartache and a return to relative isolation, and that she never gets a chance to return to her friends (or even a mention) post-Book of Elements.

• favorite line: Not choosing a line because the exact dialogue varies from translation to translation (and all are gold), but how can my favorite scene not be the simultaneous brush-off of a potential suitor and beatdown of Riddle’s goon from issue #32, complete with Orube looking gorgeous and cheekily asking said suitor to be her arm candy post-goon-beatdown? Listen. I am an avid reader of many comics, and this is still easily within my top-three panels ever.

• brOTP: Orube and the W.i.t.c.h. girls, of course, but I’ll throw in the potential for more of an Elyon and Orube friendship. Also, as long as it’s not used for Will’s jealousy fodder, Matt and Orube’s relationship could have been so great. She’s jovially punched him upon first meeting and teased him a bit when revealing her true identity, and they’ve efficiently tag-teamed to cover the girls’ absence—this is a friendship that could have been so beautiful had it been properly tended post-reveal.

• OTP: Orube/Cedric, as much as it hurts me. They deserved so much more time together.

• nOTP: I don’t feel strongly about any other Orube pairings so I guess those simultaneously do and don’t count. 

• random headcanon: I just had the sudden image of Orube being a total comic nerd, because, honestly, Rebecca Rudolph? Works for a newspaper? Is an alien from a race of warriors and has a sworn duty to defend? She’s going to find a few relatable tropes.

It’s just something she picks up at first as a means to acquaint herself with other Earth media once she understands television and movies, and these flimsy yet colorful scrolls depict the legends of great warriors. So she starts reading a few, finds a few characters she likes, and it spirals from there.

Obviously, Wonder Woman is a favorite, and oh no, now I’m imagining Orube watching the movie and loving it, up until… yeah.

Really, can I just come up with an Orube headcanon without it becoming painful?

(I guess I can, so here’s a quick nonsensical joke for a modern W.i.t.c.h. story: Irma has absolutely selected 21 plays of Tom Jones’s “What’s New Pussycat?” on the Golden Diner’s jukebox on at least one occasion when Orube has joined the girls for a meal.)

• unpopular opinion: Oh… I guess maybe I think—despite the fact that I do love them—Orube/Cedric could have been developed a little bit better? I mean, I love their initial development—that mutual distrust and grudging cooperation, Orube making Cedric flustered in 100 different ways and being kind of smug about it—but in a way I feel like the jump from that point to full-on star-crossed lovers was a bit rushed. I don’t have the full Book of Elements arc with me right now, but from my memory we got more of Cedric’s reactions to falling in love with Orube than vice versa, and we don’t get to see how deeply this connection goes for her until Cedric dies and Orube is so grieved that she’s unable to speak again until her final scene. I would have preferred a clearer mutual attraction and for both to internally struggle with it.

• song i associate with them: This is a difficult one because I’m trying really hard not to choose another Sara Bareilles song (specifically “Hercules” or “Little Black Dress” or… oh no… “She Used to Be Mine”) and also find one that encompasses her most accurately, from the warrior spirit to the fish (cat?)-out-of-water to the best friend to the brokenhearted almost-lover. So now that I’m thinking about it, I’m just really stuck on “I’m Gonna Fly” by Sydney Forest—AKA the original ending theme to the American dub of Kiki’s Delivery Service and one of my oldest favorite songs. It’s not so much the lyrics that scream Orube to me, but something about the tune (maybe due to the fact that it’s an ending song denoting character growth and the future ahead) just rings of Orube’s final scene. It’s a pleasant sound and the lyrics are relatively cheerful, but it still just gets me in the heart with each listen because there’s just some bittersweet quality to it, and I think that’s why I think of Orube’s ending. She’s suffered a massive loss and openly weeps over Cedric, yet still spares a smile for We and the thought of the girls. She’s going back home to Basiliade for the first time in a long time (not counting the mission to retrieve Himerish), leaving her dear friends behind and burdened by a pain that won’t heal easily. But this choice comes across less as wallowing and more as a means to move forward—“And my feet can’t stay on the ground any longer/With every leap of faith I feel a little stronger”—a way to acknowledge the hurt but with a promise of better days somewhere beyond the horizon.

Mako/Bounty Hunter largely because she’s canonically 19 and most ppl seem to create Bounty Hunters who are in like... their 30s. Actually I think Torian is about the same age although I wouldn’t be surprised if f!BHs skew younger.

Doc I haven’t met I’ve just heard a lot about but Corso makes me really uncomfortable lmao so Smuggler/Corso. I don’t think they’re the Biggest Pairing™ but they have a bit of a following. Also not a fan of dark sith warriors with Vette or Jaesa, and considering the amount of dudes who go dark SW I feel like outside of tumblr that one is fairly popular.

Hi I was wondering why you named your karadox tag the possibilities phrase? Was it from the show or the comics or an interview??

none of the above! 

so, generally, my AU and relationship tags have been inspired by the tumblr user @sharkodactyl, who is the Best at naming things and puts a lot of thought into her tags, especially for the Orphan Black fandom. I am… not as creative as she is, so my tags mostly come from songs (brotp: what makes you think I’m so special is from Love Like You, au: ready to go right now is from Green Light by John Legend, just to name a couple), and my fic titles are mostly from songs too.

The exceptions, for the tags at least, are “this au is so cute i swear you’re killing me” which happened accidentally but I stuck with it, “brainy bunch au”, which I thought was really funny at the time but I still love it even though it doesn’t fit that AU at all, “brotp: she’s awkward he’s annoying”, which comes from a comment made by Chyler Leigh at the 2018 SDCC panel, and “otp: turbulence”, which halfway doesn’t count because the tag used to be something I can’t remember right now, but now it’s that because that one word just summarizes their canon relationship and references a scene from 3x11.

In general, I tend to choose the tags based on song lyrics because they come to mind when I’m thinking about the relationship or AU, whether because I’m listening to a playlist or they just get stuck in my head or whatever.

but anyway! so the phrase “believe in all the possibilities” comes from the song C’mon by Panic! At the Disco feat. Fun, a song I already liked even though I’m not really a fan of the band themselves, and I first started tagging Karadox with it on January 31st, 2018.

‘your’ is @sholiofic‘s fanvid of 3x10, which at the time was one of very few dedicated to those two, and also happened to be super great and fit them perfectly, as did the lyrics. So, the song ended up on my Karadox playlist, and the tag stuck.

First of all, thank you @white-queen-lacus (and @whatsyourcolor) for tagging me. Sorry if I answer so late but work has been really demanding and season 3 announcement has been the last straw to my gastritis, so I’ve been out of myself for more than a week.

Anyway, this has given me the chance to read all of your interesting opinions and I must say that I share a good part of them. Soooo, here we go!

Top Three Favourite Characters:

Kougami Shinya & Tsunemori Akane (I like each one of them at the same level for different reasons, but they always come together for me)

NO ONE. If there are two people on the top, the second place is empty.

Karanomori Shion, Kagari Shusei and Sasayama (btw, Kagari and Sasayama are on the top of my “You shouldn’t have died” list, even if, Sasayamakun, I’m sorry but your death gave start to Psycho-pass so it’s unavoidable)

Shinkane, there’s no doubt about it. They are perfect together, in every possible way, in every possible feature, in every possible direction you look at them.

Kunikara     (Shion x Yayoi)..and same as shinkane for the reason. They are that kind of couple with different temper/physical appearance/ behavior that makes them just perfect together.

Gino X Risa. The ship that never sailed. I didn’t have the time to wink and say….hey 😉😉😉, what’s going on here? That the poor Risa was already blood spray on the floor. Dramatic!

No other couples…I’m not a shipper of non canon couples, I only ship couples     where I sense love.

If BROTP counts, I would ship Kougami x Sasayama, the best BROTP, and Gino x Sugou.

Character I find Most Attractive:

Ok, no game for anyone here. Kougami is the male most attractive character of the series, even if Gino, jealous of that title, must have ordered that new cool ponytail cut to the hairdresser. And Sugou, he is something for sure (and so sweet!!! 😆😆)

And for the girls, even if Shion is explosive and Yayoi is the ice princess, Akane is and will always be my queen. That short haircut, the slender neck that neither a swan would rival, the chocolate eyes, her beautiful face, the slim figure…in a word, the grace personified. There’s only one way we can call her: A GLAMOUROUS WOMAN. Does this recall you something???? 😉😉😉

A Random Thought:  All my thoughts are projected to the next year. But if we want to talk about the past….when I saw the images of the first episode in season two, the one with the bomber, seeing his blue eyes, I  thought it was Kougami come back to challenge Sibyl (and I have to admit my idea had been influenced by a fic I was reading at that time). That was obviously my inconscious-not-too-inconscious me who wanted to see Kougami again and was worried about him for all the second season. Every episode I was like…where is Kougami? Why he isn’t here? Why hasn’t he come back? Has something happened to him? Nooo, Tougane!!! Stay away from Akane (this wame while watching the gym scene. The damned authors used the same flirty music they used in season one gym scene)

An unpopular opinion:

I know that many like to ship Kou with Sasayama, but there wasn’t anything like that between them (you should read pp zero to see it), Sasayama was like a big bro to Kougami and vice, this makes them a perfect BROTP for me.

About unpopular opinions… @lefterstein like your theory very much. I take the liberty of quoting it here:

“I used to theorize about how we perceive Shinkane as not canon bc we haven’t seen them do stuff, but that for all we (don’t) know they might’ve been secretly doing stuff hahaha like I wouldn’t be too surprised if it were to be revealed that they have done stuff all along. hence my answer for the next 2 questions”

God knows if they did something or not, anyway, despite people treating Akane as a pure and innocent kid, she was WELL AWARE of Kougami’s physique, like we openly saw in the gym episode and we read in the final part of the psycho pass book, when she looks sleeping Kougami and the author indulges on his look described by Akane’s memory. I’m stills screaming inside.

A Pairing I’m Not A Fan Of: All the invented pairings, but the most illogical is Kougami x Makishima. Kougami moved earth and hell to be able to kill him and threw away ALL that he kept as precious and someone still ships them? Mm, ok….(I’m turning my head away)

A character that is screwed up: I partially share @whatsyourcolor idea that all people in PP are screwed up except Akane. Though I would say that all the inspectors and enforcers are screwed up in PP. Considering what enforcers went through before taking their place in MWPSB and the pressure the inspectors have to face to keep the enforcers at their place, resolve cases, etc. none of them is fully sane mentally. Even Akane, she hallucinates about Kou, she smokes just to keep Kou’s scent on her, she talks with the dead images of Yuki, Masaoka, Kagari and Makishima. None is safe, only the happy, unaware citizen with a healthy PP.  

Favourite Friendship: Akane and Kagari. They were so sweet to look.

Question tag for AO3 writers~~

I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms. So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste!

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

I came up with "Shootmesenpai” for my Tumblr originally a long time ago. It was pretty much a play on the whole “Notice me senpai” thing. Pretty basic and not very witty but it just ended up sticking so I even used it for AO3.

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)

Happy Birthday Aomine 

3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?

My icon is Aomine Daiki. I choose it because he is my favorite boy and almost all the fanfics I have written are from his perspective. 

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?

I’m not a very popular writer and my stuff is pretty low key so the commenters are fairly random. I have some friends that comment so I suppose they count....kinda. 

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Blackbird or the Ladder series by @emungere is amazing and I have reread them a number of times. I also have a huge soft spot for Across the Way by @gintamajustaway and that is not even finished yet. 

6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?

I am only subscribed to two stories at the moment since a couple just finished recently, but I have 29 bookmarks for things that need to be read. I’m kinda bad about actually doing this instead, I just leave 100 tabs open on my phone. 

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

I haven’t actually written any AU’s yet but I like reading student/teacher ones, yakuza AU’s or college AU’s. I would like to write a college AU one day as it’s not too far from reality so I think I may be able to handle it. 

8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)

Oh, an embarrassingly small amount....I think I only have 29 subscriptions and 44 bookmarks...definitely, nothing to write home about. 

9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Honestly, I don’t really have much. I would like to write something really aggressive and complex but I don’t do well with long stories. A yakuza story with some rough subject matter (similar to Harada) would be amazing but....that's a bit much for most of the ships I enjoy. 

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.

I would like to finish my one long story and possibly rework a lot of it. It was the first one I wrote and looking back I can see a lot of flaws. I need to honestly just start writing more and learn the fundamentals of good storytelling. Even though I enjoy writing smutty one-shots the most, I still have ideas for long stories that I’m not confident enough to begin. 

11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?

I mainly write for AoKuro or AoKuroKaga which I guess is a bit rare for the KNB fan base. I also love ultra rare pairings like NijiHai. 

12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?

5 total works with one unfinished. 

13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?

I have the next chapter started with Realization and Loss but it’s only a paragraph....that’s it at the moment. 

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

A little bit of both, my friend and I talk story ideas every once in a while so some of those are permanently locked in my head. There are some I came up with on my own that I have written down in a sketchbook somewhere. 

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Nope, I come up with ideas with a friend sometimes so it kinda feels like it has been co-authored at times. 

16. How did you discover AO3?

Just following the links of the fanfic rabbit hole. 

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?

Oh god no, I am extremely casual in my writings. I freak out for having like 5 kudos on a fic. I bow down to the famous authors. 

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Not that I’m aware of, again I am bottom of that totem pole. 

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I mean @humanitys-shortest-soldier kinda encouraged me after I continued to bug her about showing off her amazing writing skills. Other than that though @gintamajustaway was a huge inspiration, they are so amazing that I really have no words. 

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

I don’t think I’m qualified to give advice but I guess I would just say, don’t be afraid to put your ideas out there. Even if you think it’s weird, or you think your writing skills aren’t up to par, just do it! There are people out there who will encourage you and make your whole day with their kind words. I promise you. 

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I do basic plots, mainly just large points that I want to hit. Everything else just slowly forms around those foundation pieces. 

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

No, I haven’t gotten any bad comments yet but I am always open to them. I handle criticism well and I think bad comments can help a person grow to become a better writer. 

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

Ummm.....probably really serious stuff. I love writing smut and I read a lot of garbage so it helps but the serious stuff requires a build up on top of a solid foundation. Those are definitely weak points for me. 

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

I have Realization and Loss....which I will probably finish...one day. Other than that though I don’t have anything in the works, although I was prompted today to write more Brotp for AoAka. 

25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

Yeaaaa, I really shouldn’t but sometimes the idea is too fun to wait. 

26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Nope, I just write when I have the time or a burning idea. It has been a while since I have done anything though. 

27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?

I think I have improved a bit, there is still a lot that I need to work on. I would love to eventually get back into it and improve my fundamentals and basics storytelling abilities. 

28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?

Haizaki’s Day Off, it was just a lot of fun to write and I really enjoy writing for Haizaki since he is a huge asshole. 

29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?

I don’t really have a least favorite but if I had to say...it would be Realization and Loss. It was my first one and I still need to finish it, but looking back I see a lot of errors and crutches throughout the story. 

30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Probably close to where I am now, I love writing but I don’t think I am cut out for anything serious within the field. I love drawing and a lot of my free time is spent trying to improve there, while also finding the courage to post it. 

31. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Coming up with the basic plot and all the fun bits that it involves. 

32. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Actually sitting down to write it.....also in-character dialogue!

33. Why do you write?

I write because sometimes an idea is too fun to keep to myself or between my friends. I write so that hopefully other people get some enjoyment out of the weird stuff I create.
