I did it again!!! Meet my second PMMM OC: Shinoha Murofushi!

Basic Info:

Name: Shinoha Murofushi

Age: 16

Height: 5'6

Wish: "'My ultimate dream could come true'... If that's really the case then, I want to get revenge on those bastards!"

Weapon: Dual Swords

Power: The ability to release attacks used against her back at an enemy*

Soul Gem: Bellflower (*also somewhat looks like a skull) located below the chest, with scales on the bottom of the soul gem

Witch: Nemesis

*She can only absorb attacks that have hit her, and will take damage from anything that hits her. She can store damage for as long as she wants, but when she releases it, every attack she's stores gets released at once. However the attack affected her is how it will affect the target she releases on: Ex. Someone punches her causing a bloody nose, Shinoha releases her damage, and the puncher gains a bloody nose and the pain that caused the bloody nose. Ex2. Someone breaks her arm with a baseball bat, Shinoha releases her damage, and the batter gains a broken arm and the pain of a baseball bat to the arm.

Personality:

She's incredibly standoffish and tries her best to be alone at all times. She rarely leaves her room, and hates going to school. She's quick to judge and mistrust others, and it's incredibly hard for her to lower her guard. She's learned to cut her own hair (due to avoiding leaving the house) and while she has exceptional talent doing so, she has no interest in being a hairdresser. She rarely sleeps, and is always tired. She maintains a perfect poker face, but struggles with violent thoughts and self-loathing: becoming a magical girl has given her an outlet for her struggles, although she gets very brutal in fights. Her favorite food is seafood, and she can't stand the taste of sweet things. Despite her dark thoughts, she's very meek, and seldom voices her opinions and feelings. If she's got a problem with someone, they likely don't know until it's too late. Her downbeat nature means she doesn't have many hobbies; she spends most of her time on her phone, and is a closet idol fanatic.

Design Breakdown:

This design was a challenge and a pain. I struggled A LOT to incorporate her "revenge" wish and find a good theming for it, but all I could really work with was "greek goddess Nemesis" (justice/law/punishment theme). I managed to fit in some wing-like shapes (skirt, swords) but I don't know if it's obvious enough(?) Her hair-circle is meant to look like a halo (angel of punishment theme) but I'm not sure if it just looks like a random circle or an actual halo. I included bellflower motifs because... I have no real reason; nice concept, but I can't draw bellflowers well. Her colour palette was the most difficult part (theming second) because no colours fit her??? I don't know how to describe it, but no colours worked right with her personality (not even black or white). I settled on green with grey hair, but it'll probably change if I ever draw her again. I fear her design is a little to "fantasy" not enough "magical girl" (but that might just be my "ruffles/pink" brainrot). I tried really hard to give her a should cloak, then a caplet, and finally I gave up and just went with the sleeves.

Overall: she was a struggle, and I don't think I got across my theming and motifs well. I might try to redesign her in the future, but for now I'm content with this: I think it's good for my current skill level and her current concept.

Trivia:

She didn't believe in magical girls at all, but after much pestering convincing from Komoe, she unseriously made a wish before becoming a magical girl

Her damage absorbing ability causes her to intentionally endanger herself in fights against witches (possible concept)

Originally her plan was to kill her bullies, but she instead opted to use her power to curse them

She would've liked to be the brooding loner type of magical girl, but Komoe had other plans

She has a mini fridge in her room and it's her favorite thing in the world

It's always dark in her room, so she can see well in the dark (potential plot point later[?])

She's a big fan of spy, action, and mystery movies; and has some form of online review blog

She has a mannequin in her room she vents her frustrations and feelings to (she strongly dislikes showing emotions in public and/or around others)

As much as she's tried to fight it, Komoe often comes to her house with groceries, grief seeds, gifts, and other things to give to Shinoha

Although she was initially very unhappy about becoming a magical girl (she kinda became a magical girl on accident), she's slowly learning to embrace her magical girl persona (and becoming more deranged in the process!)

She named her magical girl swords after her two favorite idols, and has begun a personal sword collection (a goal Komoe helped her set was to eventually forge a sword herself)

She once drank a small bottle of vanilla extract without batting an eye (it was dark, she was tired and didn't feel like reading)

FULL disclosure I haven't seen pmmm in a long while, so I'm not super sure on the finer details;;

also I totally get it LMAO giving up your soul and relentlessly jumping timeline to timeline for someone is not something you'd do for a recent acquaintance. I'm fine with solauri knowing each other longer than madoka and homura did!

I also adore your designs for madosolei and homauri.... homura aurien is perfect. I think solei would probably have the ribbon tied around their ponytail, but I love the half up-half down style you gave them too! Im also not against them wearing a skirt for this au lol

I'm not sure why, but rose ( @rosedeleca ) gives me mami vibes. maybe it's the ribbons mami has together with rose's love for sewing fabric. maybe it's also the more mature and elegant vibe that both mami and rose bring while having an underlying loneliness and wish for company. rose giving solei a gift in an effort to befriend them / mami wanting madoka to become a magical girl perhaps? I might be reaching lol

Also, I find it cute if rose was mami because iirc flor ( @sotogalmo ) already claimed charlotte/bebe and just. rose being as tall as they are while flor is 4"11...

I honestly don't have many headcanons in mind atm, but maybe solei and auri being childhood friends in the og timeline could be a thing? I just find childhood friends solauri to be absolutely adorable

I noticed the sun pendant you added to solei's magical costume, and I wonder if auri would have a matching moon one? madoka and homura's main aesthetics are more along the lines of angel/devil, but it would be nice if the sun/moon aspect of solauri would be evident in their costumes too. I want to draw this so badly 😭

what is the sexiest car

1. i think the biggest thing is preexisting stories whether music or other works. but also various times in my life that i feel nostalgia for or that otherwise really affected me. and finally relationships that transcend boundaries of platonic/romantic and even fate and lifetimes.

for academy of bad cats, the biggest inspirations for the way the story is told are sparklecare and matilda. but the story itself is still very much at least very loosely based on real events

liminaland is a bit of an outlier since its much more rooted in aesthetics than my other stories, but it did have inspiration from infinity train and a bit from amphibia. and the relationship between the main characters is certainly one of those relationships transcending expectations of platonic and romantic attraction.

the world of light was very inspired by various songs by sleeping at last—the “light” in the title comes from light, which inspired the very first short story i wrote in that setting—melius’s story, which establishes the timeloop and the doomed romance between him and mahina. its still quite funny to me how closely the plot of world of light resembles homestuck despite being put together years before i ever read it, and the fact that the timeloop was created by a character literally originally named akemi before i renamed her to atsuko to stop it from resembling pmmm, which i also hadnt watched and knew almost nothing about at that point! bigger inspirations for the world of light were the sajana/bayala books by gecko keck, and the wolves of the beyond books.

other minor characters i have are usually based around a very specific theme song or concept. sarah and ben are based on the plans album by death cab for cutie, from their designs to their story to their names. phoebe and mara started out as designs i was given based on moodboards i made, and their stories grew entirely out of those designs.

2. hmmmm well before the wildwood movie was even announced as being made by laika that was already my ideal vision for an adaptation and i am sooo excited for it to come out… the laika style complements carson ellis’s illustrations sooo well

but since that one is already happening! i think an anime movie of escaping exodus by nicki drayden would be absolutely beautiful… the visuals in it already feel like if studio ghibli was gorey body horror i think itd work so well

also i know it would never happen and if it did happen it would not be to the vision of fans. but… animated warrior cats movie… hot take lowkey would be kinda fire if they actually USED that realistic 3d animation style for it. like the fandom is so so full of talented 2d animators that create so much incredible stuff on their own but 3d is harder to pull off well on a low budget. and seeing those books brought to life like that would be insanely cool. ofc it would be way too violent for the target audience of the books but if we are simply talking dream scenarios…thatd be so cool. and it would be cool if it was 2d animated too! they both have their pros and cons.

finally another that i know would never be done well but i would still want to see so goddamn bad would be. homestuck movie series. they could probably pull it off in 6 movies at the most and ive talked abt how it could be split up before… i think it should be slightly cheesy live action. like a little bit campy with intentionally dated cgi especially within the medium. faithful to the original comic but perhaps adding in some more modern references… imagine if they were able to get some of the iconic homestuck fandom songs for it. what if lets see how far weve come played in the end credits of one of the movies. i had a wholeass dream abt this once. and i wish it was real so fucking bad. but i know it never will happen

A Magia is from Magia Record! It’s basically a charged move that does a lot of damage like Tiro Finale.

I basically reference the witches’ barrier, familiars, description, and design itself to decide the backstory.

As an example, I will use my Gertrud Magi, Elenore!

Her barrier has a lot of European influences and mansion depictions, so I decided to her of European descent and being of an affluent bloodline. It has a lot of eyes, barbed wire, and other similar items, giving an entrapping feeling so I went with a backstory based on freedom.

Her familiars all wear a similar moustache, and with her affluent background, a butler made most sense. They all seemed to “cut” the roses before presenting them to Gertrud, which is strange as Gertrud adores roses, so cutting or killing them would make her furious, so to fit with her “distrustful” nature, her backstory has her being betrayed, with the final nail in the coffin being betrayed by her butler.

Weapons and design are my favourite part, so I will use Elenore as an example again. I wanted her dress to look like a rose being held upside down, and her hat not only alludes to a stereotypical rich lady, but also of a gardener. Her weapon is not only based off the shears used by her witch and familiars, but also Elenore has “cut” ties with several people before becoming a witch.

Puella Magi North Magica

I still haven't explained the crossover between Twisted Wonderland and Puella Magi Madoka Magica I have. I still need to design and post about the OCs involved in the crossover but I also gotta post about the crossover. It's very WIP. There's a lot of things I find overcomplicated and contrived, and parts that need to be worked so they're not included in this post. Even North's backstory and a few OCs there are in "needs work" hell.

The story is that North, an OC from the PMMM world is isekai'd into Twisted Wonderland like Yuu, except she doesn't take the role of Yuu because that would make her "overblot" fast. And my interest in Main Story and Yuu and Grim is dead. North has her own story. While Yuu and the canon characters have Main Story going on, North seemingly lives an ordinary student life minus the fact that she is still a magical girl and has emotional baggage that she needs to unpack at some point.

There's another story that's an extension of the crossover where Twisted Wonderland used to have magical girls and Kyubey until a certain point. Having megucas and Kyubey already existing in TWST is bullshitty but I like it because of what stories and OCs I can make from that.

North: A 14 year old magical girl from Earth where magical girls fight Witches. "North" is actually an alias she uses as a magical girl and she doesn't feel like using her true name. She doesn't let others know that she is not male, and passes as a guy not having finished puberty while in NRC. Twisted from Elsa in "Frozen" with influences from Kai in "The Snow Queen" and Mulan.

Lucero Espinosa: NRC alumni and former Diasomnia dorm leader. A tutor who joins NRC staff after winter break/Book 4. Outside of NRC, he has an online presence making magic education videos so those without a formal magic education or needing help in those subjects have a resource. He becomes a adult confidant for North. Twisted from Dean Hardscrabble in "Monsters University".

Abigail Mallory: An Adjuster that North often consulted to strengthen her magic and to change her magical girl outfit one time before she got isekai'd to Twisted Wonderland. Abigail is from Twisted Wonderland and came to Earth when looking into interdimensional travel. During the events of Main Story, she resides in Kai's Witch labyrinth, keeping watch over North, so the two don't meet again until Book 7. After North's freshman year, she becomes North's weird aunt figure that acts like a bad influence but isn't one at all. She can magically shapeshift into animals so if she wants to, she can shapeshift into a cat and pretend to be North's familiar. Twisted from Madam Mim in "The Sword and the Stone"

Kai: North's Witch form. Its nature is isolation. It judges those in sight to determine whether or not they are trustworthy but it only sees the worst in others and either pushes them away or destroys them. It is protective of those it cares about, including its familiars. Witches are usually malevolent but this one doesn't seem to behave like a Witch would. Twisted from the mirror and the Snow Queen in "The Snow Queen".

Main Story Timeline up to Book 6

Prologue + Book 1: North is sorted into Ignihyde. She doesn't have full memories of her time as a magical girl but she knows she is a magical girl, she can do magic, she fights Witches, she made a contract with Kyubey, and what the magical girl system is like. Her Soul Gem which would usually be in egg or ring form is permanently attached to her like it would be in magical girl form, except she isn't in magical girl form. And for some reason, her left eye is blue even though she knows both eyes are brown. At this point in time, she can't transform. She makes friends with Varius Trivia, her classmate and dormmate. She eventually hears of Riddle's overblot and researches about overblots because she doesn't know what it is. The overblots remind her of how Witches are born. She begins to notice that impurities in her Soul Gem passively fade which is odd because she has no Grief Seed to cleanse her Soul Gem with.

Book 2: North isn't targeted because she doesn't play Magical Shift. She spectates to see how magic is used. If she is going to use magic, she doesn't want to stand out. She already has to hold back her physical abilities during PE.

Book 3: North didn't make a contract. Knowing of Azul's contracts lead to her disliking him A LOT because she sees him as similar to Kyubey.

Book 4: Winter break is happening. North stays on campus because she has no home in Twisted Wonderland to go to. She meets Rashad who is out of Main Story's picture, and the two get along while Scarabia and Yuu are suffering. North remains oblivious about Jamil's overblot and coup while Rashad finds out after.

Book 5: North joins Varius in seeing Lucero Espinosa for tutoring and befriends Rufus Wood who also attends for academic support.

Book 6: North is obligated to unpack her emotional baggage from her backstory which she has been putting off for too long. She gets dragged into her Witch labyrinth for several nights. In the end, she meets Kai, her Witch counterpart. North puts her pre-TWST memories back together. She suffered and experienced loss as a magical girl, and was originally going to die had she not ended up in Twisted Wonderland. She reaches the character development and from here, she will live on, find friends, and make the most of what time she has. North regains the ability to transform and her magical girl form changes to better reflect her. Kai doesn't disappear or anything, she is obligated to stick around, and continues to watch over North. Also, the reason impurities in North's Soul Gem passively fade over time (like blot in magestones) is because Abigail adjusted her magic to make that happen. (I think the Soul Gem impurities are used to fuel Kai or maintain the Witch barrier which North can now use as a pocket dimension) She doesn't meet Abigail until Book 7.

9. October, nothing really big happened in my life it was just consistently low stress + nice vibes. It didn’t have the big highs but it also didn’t have any lows

25. I mostly just refined old OCs that I made near the end of last year (I went really hard on what I consider my best original story concept last November after it came to me in a dream), like a lot of old dnd ideas got revisited and improved for bg3 usage. It also gave me a chance to reflect on just how many of my OCs are Homura-core despite me making them before ever watching PMMM.

To give a specific example of one from this year tho, I went through a bit of a Darkest Dungeon kick early in the year and ended up making an Heir oc (the heir being the faceless player character). The noble Lady Eleanor Darkest, who as a child got caught up in one of her Grandfather’s occult rituals and was severely fucked up by the experience, but on the plus side is now very good at deciphering eldritch shit and can see dead people!

Personality: Incredibly shy and overprotective of the ones she loves or cares about.

Abilities:

Status Scent: Shiro's flower/weapon, Seles, releases a gas that inflicts a certain statues condition on her opponents. Statues it can inflict are...

•Paralysis Scent: The air surrounding Shiro (about a 2 meter radius) will be filled with a gas that paralyzes others. The gas stays around for about 1 minute, but the paralysis can last for about 2 hours. Shiro herself cannot breath in the gas, but she gets a bit twitchy when she uses this ability. This gas smells like lemons.

•Sleep Scent: Seles releases a gas that can put people to sleep. It goes as far as 2 meter radius, more if the wind is blowing. This uses her magic power, even though Seles is sort of it's own being. The gas does not affect Shiro in any way, shape, or form. This gas smells like lavender.

Flower's Wrath: Shiro can summon petals and leaves from the New Fairy King's Forest that are as sharp as swords. She can fire them at what she wishes. There are hundreds of them, but they are fairly small.

•Mass Petal Storm: Shiro summons thousands of large leafs and petals from the New Fairy King's Forest that all attack what she wishes them to. This ability would usually utterly tire Shiro out if she used it normally, but when she is in a rage she can use it several times.

Weapon: A flower hair pin that releases a gas that puts people to sleep, called Seles. It can react on its own when Shiro is feeling scared or is in danger, releasing a gas. Shiro can also make it release its gases as well. Seles can also turn itself into a grass blade-like sword, but Shiro has no idea about this. It also sort of has a mind of its own.

Crush: Gerharde (Is actually dating Aeris, another one of my NNT OCs)

Backstory: As a child, Shiro had been happy living in the Fairy King's forest. She had always watched Harlequin from afar, but she was to scared to go flat up talk to him. Shiro had also been friends with Helbram, and his antics with being interested in human things was slowly wearing off on her. Once Harlequin had left the forest, Shiro had gotten really sad, even though she had never actually interacted with him more than a few times. When the humans had captures the Fairies to take their wings, Shiro had nearly been one of them. She managed to escape by putting her captors to sleep. Shiro flew as far away as she could from any form of civilization after she escaped, though she heavily regretted not trying to save any of her friends. Later on, when Shiro found out about the Fairy King's Forest burning down, she quickly flew back to the forest to see if what she had heard was true. When she found out it was, Shiro stayed in the remains of the forest, crying for ages. She left after that, having no idea what to do... until she came upon the New Fairy King's Forest. She was absolutely delighted to find some of her friends still alive and remained in the forest for some time. Eventually she decided to take a trip away from the forest, thinking of Helbram as she did so. She began to explore all sorts of human things, but tried to avoid them out of fear at all costs.

So I drew my oc :D Her name is Zhang Li Xue (张丽雪), and while I also haven't fully fleshed her out entirely (I am so sorry I cannot write), well, I have her design as a magical girl and some key values/ personality traits down!

She's an OC I created for that TWST x PMMM thing I briefly mentioned :D it's just a very very vague draft + multiple thoughts not laid out and made coherent, but it's there!

There is also another OC I've also kinda fleshed out? I'll draw him when I have the time and motivation again woo

Another OC concept: a magical girl fan whose first thought upon being approached by Kyubey is to ask if magical girls from other anime also exist in her universe.

Kyubey: "Why would you need to know that?"

MG Fan: "Because if they don't exist, I'd make a wish for my art to be recognized or something. But if they do, there's this really cool purple one who had to go through way too much BS and if she's real, like, I'd just wish for her to be happy, you know."

For those of you who also follow my main blog, yes, this would be my magical girl sona, and yes, my wish decision would be seriously impacted by whether or not Cure Moonlight exists in the PMMM verse.

If PMMM takes place when the show's still running in early 2011, that means Moonlight's season hasn't ended yet and I can still prevent the Toei executives from making a terrible decision...

Also partially inspired by how @dragonlapis's OC Layla fangirls over Hanna from afar and wishes for her revival, and how it made me realize my sona might use a wish to benefit a magical girl she doesn't even know.

i found my old pmmm oc who i made when i was like in 6th grade

and her backstory is that she was best friends with homura in the madokami's world. she isn't magical girl but knows everything about them because of homura, but someday the madokami's world starts being crashed because other girl wished for that witches still can exist and that oc becomes a 2nd god, bc her wish was 'i want to rewrote universes again and again when they just starting being broken!' and she left homura with broken heart. madoka still is the first god.

I'M CRYING RN, WHY I DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO MY POOR HOMU (but this is also kinda good idea tho)
