We had a very nice Christmas.
Stockings were everyone’s favorite fruit or candy
My dad got a pair of muck boots that don’t leak so he was very excited (my mom and I never go out with him to do outdoors stuff so we didn’t realize how bad they were until my husband mentioned it) tbf the boots are close to 10 years old and he wears them everyday.
My mom got a new pair of new favorite indoor/outdoor slippers which again she wears everyday
I painted a cute wall hanging for my husbands gift (but didn’t finish because of getting sick)
And I got a very warm set of pjs and a robe that fit me

Heya! I know, I’m extremely late for the OC Ask Box game but I could not resist 🫣😁
If you don’t mind I’d love to hear your thoughts about 18 for Theo and 17 for Liawyn? (or the other way round if 18 is a bit too much on the nose for my all-time favorite pirate girl 😋)
Thank you so much and have a fantastic Sunday evening!!
Tumblr media
Fr tho feel free to ask me about ask games I've reblogged years ago, I really enjoy it, it's all good!
If your character were trapped on a deserted island, what three things would they want to have with them? Which person would they absolutely hate to be trapped there with? Which person would they enjoy being trapped there with?
I think from a practicality standpoint, she'd want a good knife - works as a weapon, also works for practicality reasons, great starting point. I think she'd be able to make herself some form of shelter, so I'll avoid my initial instinct of saying "a tent" or something like that. Maybe sunscreen? From her past trauma 💀
Aaaand one thing I think she'd really miss from modern times is the music. So maybe an iPod? Especially if she could have one of those solar powered chargers with her so it wouldn't be useless after a few days? Like Theo is very practical but she also loves fun and isn't just out to suffer for the sake of it, so I think she'd view saving at least one of those three items (even though the charger would probably count as four but she's also a rule breaker) as a morale-booster, and therefore sorely needed.
I did half-consider maybe replacing the iPod with a Kindle (if she could still have a way of charging it) loaded with books, but that feels like stretching the rules a bit much, and I think the silence would get to her more than a lack of reading materials.
As for who she'd want with her, James absolutely. No explanation needed. Who she wouldn't? Jack, as a general nuisance, but Beckett in terms of "he would make it utterly unsurvivable". Though, oddly, I think putting them on equal ground like that and forcing them to work together for survival - with no others around for Beckett to manipulate and play mind games with - might actually have them in this one instance, so long as it's before all of the shit he did to her (because otherwise she'd kill him on sight), working quite well together. He's resourceful, he does what he needs to, once he got over himself a bit he'd probably actually pitch in because god knows she wouldn't help him if he was useless.
Is your character holding any grudges? Are they likely to stop?
I don't view Liawyn as a grudge holder! Out of all of my OCs, she's probably actually the least likely to hold a grudge. I think she's very empathetic and can always look at things from the other person's perspective, and so long as she can kind of see why somebody might do something - even if she doesn't agree with it - and if they're truly sorry that they did it, she'll forgive.
The only exception would be if it was something really heinous and unforgiveable, and then I think they'd effectively be dead to her. She wouldn't go out of her way to make their lives miserable or anything, but she'd act like they didn't exist and never let up on that once her heart was set on it. Her anger, long term, for sure burns cold rather than hot.
...I also think Haldir would very much like those two things about her 😭
Thank you!! 💜

Do you have any theories/ headcannon about how the androids recharge?
The Android parking space thing thing might also double as a charger, but since there are androids who manage to pretend they’re humans for a long amount of time (pigeon android) there has to be another way for them to recharge.
We know that canonically they have 7 days batteries so there needs to be something that’s not very attention grabbing, and can be done often.
Maybe there’s just straight up a charging plug for them. Or maybe they’re like like phones where they can connect to laptops and computers and charge from them.
I read somewhere that they had some kind of cable port at the back of their neck but I can’t find it anymore, and I’m not sure if it’s cannon.
And how do the androids in Jericho get batteries? Cause I don’t think Jericho has access to electricity so they’d need to go get it.
My working theory is that there’s a couple of androids who still look like normal androids who’d go out and re-charge their batteries and then go back and transfer their batteries to the androids who can’t go out.
The lore in DBH is all over the place tbh and finding one consistent theory would be difficult. I'm also not the tech guy here, that's @marcusrobertobaq but I've got a few theories.
the thirium pump regulator acts as a battery and it can be recharged or replaced. Maybe there's a port that can be connected to the pump? Or it can be removed (the problem with this one is that removing the pump means they would need an extra pump on hand since it can't be gone for too long)
And I was also thinking about the parking space thing but like you said, some androids go long without going to the parking space. But there could be portable versions of it the android can carry around.
This one is a crack theory but I thought solar powered androids would be funny. But that wouldn't work since the androids at Jericho don't go out under the sun a lot.
Thirium could also double as a recharge for whatever battery they're using. This is honestly the easiest theory because it could work. Thirium transfers "energy and electrical information" through the android; we don't know exactly what that means but what if it can transfer electricity to the androids' battery. It would also be portable enough that the android can recharge without being too obvious. Since the battery lasts seven days without recharge, it also makes sense that the only of the main trio we see taking thirium is Markus; Connor could easily be recharged at the DPD and Kara could have been recharged at the Cyberlife store from the beginning of the game.
Androids going out, recharging and returning to give the battery to another android could also work but we know biocomponents need to be compatible first. And a battery is technically a biocomponent. The ones without compatibility would have to stay without recharge.

In case of zombie apocalypse: what’s your plan of action?
Okay! Soooooooo!
For starters, one of the perks of keeping in primo shape is it keeps me from becoming zombie chow within the first few days of an outbreak. Also, I've gone out of the way to teach myself how to garden, fish, forage, build a tent. Things that'll come in handy if I'm able to get out of the city. I also keep a bug out bag in my closet that's loaded with MREs, solar powered chargers, crank operated radio, one of those shake for power flashlights, seeds, rain gear, a change of clothes, and first aid kit.
Basically, once word hits we've got brain eaters I'm grabbing as many people I can on my way to the truck. Then we'll GTFO and head to my uncle's cabin which is miles away from civilization. He's one of those preppers so he's loaded to the brim with everything we need to get through for awhile while we set up a perimeter and grow our own food.

My family's rest home in Hawkes Bay got power back on Sunday, 6 days after Cyclone Gabrielle knocked it out. It went out for a few hours yesterday and 1 hour today but we were told to expect that.
It's really shown us where the holes in our disaster preparedness are, even though we have passed a dozen Ministry of Health Audits with the disaster kits we had, what the MoH and their auditors say will be sufficient is not. We're starting to stock up on the things we found we needed and when supply lines are better and things are back in stock we'll buy all the things that would have been reeeeeally useful. I'm also getting stuff for my own home kit. I've bought or will buy:
A portable power supply and solar panel charger for it, you can also charge from a car. It has a built in torch and you can charge any USB chargable devices from it several times, you can run a regular appliance from it but that will drain it very quickly.
A solar camping shower. Not very useful if there's no sun but it would have been perfect post cyclone because the weather was gorgeously sunny afterward.
USB chargable camping lights I can charge from my portable power supply.
Headlamps, way easier than a handheld torch.
I bought a little camp stove that runs on butane canisters after the 2017 earthquake here but I realize I did not have anywhere near enough canisters. The canisters last 10 years so I've given all the 6 year old ones ones from my kit to a cousin who was feeding 4 kids on the camp stove and I will stock up majorly on new ones.
Basically raid the camping section of your local department store, if it looks like it would be useful when you're camping with no power then it will be useful in a disaster.
Cash, the power went out, all the card readers were down, people needed cash and all the ATMs emptied out.
Milk powder, you can mix up only the amount you need and not have to worry about refrigeration.
Shelf stable food that is a whole meal on it's own and is easy to cook or heat through on a camp stove or BBQ. You're too exhausted to make a meal out of ingredients and it's too hard to make anything complicated. Also vitamins because the food I'm describing isn't usually very nutritious.
Cooking oil, that's the thing everyone forgot to put in their kits and ran out of from their kitchens.
TOILET PAPER!!!!!! You need a stockpile. It's the first thing shops sell out of. We're going to hide it in the ceiling of the rest home so that we have an emergency stockpile and no one can take off with a few rolls here and there until it's all gone
Baby-wipes. Deodorant. Dry shampoo. Clean underwear. We usually account for drinking water in our disaster planning but you don't know when you will next be able to have a shower or wash clothes.
Heavy duty rubbish bags. When the power goes out the stuff in your fridge and freezer can end up going very nasty. If you can; bury it in your yard (deep enough that animals can't get to it), if not you're going to need to tie it up tight in heavy duty rubbish bags and put them somewhere that they're not in the sun and not going to contaminate anything. Also if it's a flood you're going to have all sorts of fabric things that will be contaminates by flood water and will start to get very smelly very quickly and you'll want to bag up whatever you can. Rubbish is a major issue in Hawkes Bay right now because the main dump was flood damaged, the power was out and people had to throw out loads of spoiled food, a load of ready to harvest crops washed up in places it would be a hazard to leave them rotting, people were clearing out homes where EVERYTHING would have to be trashed because it was contaminated with floodwater that had who knows what in it (in some areas definitely sewerage). The council got 1 waste facility opened up 6 days after the flood but 5 of those days were blazing sun so you can imagine how nasty some of the rubbish is.
Also this is truely nasty but ziplock bags if you don't have a garden you can dig a latrine in, you may have to poo in a bag and you bet you're gonna want to be able to seal it. I have a garden but I'm going to put ziplocks in my disaster kit in case I need to dispose of any waste like used bandages.
I have meds for myself but I'm going to get hold of some basic pet meds. There's a lot of dogs in Hawkes Bay who are getting gastro bugs right now because their owners have taken them for walks in areas where the flood water's have gone down and it's dried out, but the silt is still there. The dogs have gotten contaminated silt on their paws, licked their paws, and now they're getting sick. I wouldn't take my dogs out where they might come into contact with contaminants but I want a few basic meds just in case it's unavoidable. Plus one of my dogs is on an anti-seizure prescription and it didn't even occur to me that I should put some of her prescription meds in the disaster kit with a spares of our prescriptions.

Here is a van created to make you feel like you are still in the old cabin while parked at a wayside. This van has a gas-powered heater to keep you warm, a powerful fan to keep you cool and even a hideaway toilet! Complete with a sink and a fridge, this small kitchen also has an induction stove built into it. The bed space is a queen size, with a pull-out drawer directly underneath. This nomadic vehicle is equipped with solar panels and a DCDC Charger to keep all of its 4 12v batteries charged. As well as a shore power plug for when it's a bit cloudy and you don't feel like driving around. There is also a 28-gallon fresh water tank which can be put to use through the sink or the spigot installed near the fill point. With a grey water tank at 25 gallons. They both empty the bottom of the van, for convenience and stealth. With just about as many screws as you can see, this is mainly held together by Festool Dominos and Titebond Type 3 Wood glue. A beefy wooden domino-shaped dowel that takes the place of an otherwise squeaky bolt or screw. Ensuring this furniture will hold up to bumpy roads as long as you can hold onto the wheel.
Practically off the factory line with less than 500 mi to the engine. Grab this gem and take it out on an adventure before someone can claim your untold quests.

Packing plenty of power
Tumblr media
TECH REVIEW Packing plenty of power
We all just want our stuff to work, right?
Since most of us have abandoned landlines, our cell phones are our lifelines and the main way we communicate with each other and stay informed.
One of my bigger fears is my phone or laptop running out of power just when I need it most, so I’m an “overcharger.”
My phone transitions from one charging spot to another throughout my day.
I go from my nightstand charger to my car charger to my desk charger at work, then to a charger in my living room after work and finally back to the nightstand.
This is all great until the power goes out, but I’ve got that covered as well.
Here are a few of the external batteries and portable power stations I’ve been using and recommending this year. Any of them would be great gifts. I’ve included list prices, but look for sales. Jim Rossman, Tribune News Service Anker Solix C300 DC My current favorite battery is the Anker Solix C300 DC ($199.99, anker.com).
The C300 DC has a 90,000 milliamp-hour capacity, a 300-watt output and a form-factor about the size of a Coleman lantern.
Speaking of lanterns, the C300 DC has a built-in LED light on top that makes this battery the first thing you’ll look for if the power goes out.
It measures 4.9 inches by 4.7 inches by 7.9 inches and it weighs just over 6 pounds. One of my favorite features is the carry strap. As you might have guessed from the name the C300 DC provides DC power only, so there are no AC plugs.
What it does have is four USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and a 12v DC charging port, or what us old-timers call a cigarette lighter port. Two of the USB-C ports are 140-watt input/output ports. They can each provide 140 watts of power for your stuff, and they can both be used at the same time to power up the internal batteries. If you max out the input, you can charge the unit from zero to 80 percent in just an hour. You can also charge from solar panels or from the 12v port in your car.
I use a CPAP to sleep, and when I connected it to the 12v outlet, I could run my machine for four nights on a charge. Note, I don’t use the water tank or heat.
The C300 DC can charge your phone 19 times or your laptop four times. I’ve even started taking it on weekend trips to keep on my nightstand to charge my stuff without having to worry about where the nearest wall plug is located.
Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 Jackery has a long track record of making high-quality portable power stations, and the new Explorer 2000 v2 ($1,499.00, jackery.com) is no exception.
I reviewed the previous Explorer 2000, and the v2 is a big improvement, especially in its size and weight. The original 2000 weighs 43 pounds and measures 15.1 inches by 10.5 inches by 12.1 inches.
The v2 weighs 39.5 pounds and measures 13.2 inches by 10.4 inches by 11.5 inches.
Jackery says it’s 40 percent smaller and 34 percent lighter than comparable power stations from other brands.
It has a built-in handle that folds down flat, so you can easily stack things on top.
It has LiFePO4 batteries with a capacity of 2,042-watt hours and a total power output of 2,200 watts. From a wall plug, the v2 can charge from zero to 100 percent in 102 minutes.
Outputs include three AC outlets, two USB-C outlets (100W and 30W), one USB-A outlet (18W) and one 12V/10A DC outlet. The v2 can run your refrigerator or microwave or TV as well as your phone or laptop or virtually anything else that can use USB, 12V DC or 120V AC power.
The v2 is a beast that doesn’t require a dolly to move it around. Bluetti Handsfree 1 Backpack Power Station Hardcore hikers, campers and outdoors enthusiasts take note, Bluetti has two new power stations that are designed to be carried around — in fact, they come with their own custom backpacks.
I’ve tested the smaller Handsfree 1 ($429.99, bluettipower.com), which has a 268Wh battery with 300W of output inside a 42-liter backpack. The power station is 11 inches by 3.7 inches by 11.3 inches and sits in a special vented and weatherproof section of the backpack that’s up against your back as you carry it.
The LiFePo4 battery weighs just 11 pounds and can charge from zero to 100 percent from AC power or a 200W solar panel in just 1.5 hours.
The 300W output certainly limits what you can power with the Handsfree 1, but it is designed to power your camera gear or drone batteries or other camping/hiking gear.
The backpack is very nicely designed and very high quality and comes with enough padding and dividers and compartments to carry most, if not all your gear.
It also has an extensive external attachment system to tote sleeping bags, tents, solar panels and more.
The Handsfree 1 has one AC outlet (up to 300W), two USB-C and two USB-A ports.
Bluetti says it can charge your cell phone 12 times, your laptop four times and a drone up to 10 times.

Well, nice to wake up to a black out. If this is because someone with alters and genders glued themselves. to the grid to protest the election y’all owe me a Pepsi, Coke has or makes methanol.
All I had plans for today was looking up early 2023 Cure stuff now that I’ve learned Roger (Goff/Goth Barbie) survived leukemia. That’s why he wasn’t on the South American tour and could be the reason behind his hair cut.
And yet Reddit was saying Perry needed some milk.
Electricity or not I got to get a lot of this out of my system. I bought a pocket solar charger with a flashlight back in 2021 and was glad to have the release of my blog when I was homeless. And I will always say homeless because you don’t give soft names to harsh things.
Also glad I do most of my writing by putting pen to paper and I can art by hand. Then again I’ve been stuck for days without power because a crackhead stole the zipcode’s copper wiring.
I think I’m getting somewhere rounding up the different Smallville bits for a Clark/Kal El Pon Farr idea.

Day 2
Writing this from the back of Nyxx’s SUV. I don't usually get car sick so I’ll probably be fine? Today we all met up at our agreed meeting place outside the home depot. It was a few hours to walk but I was generally pretty safe but if any of the smarter ones did notice that I was human I just thwacked ‘em with ol’ Nancy! It feels really bad killing things that used to be human like this but It’s what I have to do. Nyxx says that it’s best to remember that they’re probably in a lot of pain anyway so really we’re just putting them out of their misery. Thinking about that helps a little. In the morning, after having some breakfast and brushing my teeth, I dumped out my school bag and started packing in the things I thought we might need at our new base. My pack list is as follows:
Wifi router
Phone charger
Laptop charger
Laptop
Radio with bluetooth and CD player
Changes of clothes
Snacks
Hair spray
Eye liner
As much monster as I could cram in there
I know it sounds stupid to bring so many things that need to be plugged in but Nyxx brought the solar battery she and her family use while camping alongside a big solar panel so it's gonna be ok. I also picked up ol’ nelly from her special case in my cosplay closet. She's a real nail bat from a cosplay I never finished and there’s no zombie apocalypse weapon better than a nail bat!
Like I said, Nyxx brought a solar battery and panel but she also brought her dad’s M16 (which I don’t even know if he was legally allowed to own) which will be great for big hoards. Nyxx also brought some tents and air mattresses. Raven brought a mini fridge which was kind of a surprise to all of us, it looked really heavy and we were all impressed that they had carried it all the way to the home depot over 2 miles. They looked exhausted. They also had a map of the town, a pair of scissors to handle our hair, and their sketchbook with some art supplies.
Wood and N came last and we were all kinda worried they wouldn’t show. Neither was carrying much, Wood brought some squishmallows, some books, headphones and a hand ax. N’s bag was mostly full of monster cans with a few walkie talkies. At their side they were holding a HUGE machete. We don’t need to bother too much about first aid supplies or anything like that because Nyxx always keeps a go bag in their trunk.
Once we were all together, we all went into the home depot to conduct our very first zombie apocalypse raid. I was nervous but also excited. There was a lot more still left than expected. Once again, the zombies didn’t come for us so overall it was mostly just a chill time. We got a few base building essentials and stuff to wash our clothes but the main highlight was when Raven picked out their weapon: a power drill with an 8 inch long bit! We made some of the typical jokes but honestly it was super cool.
Tonight we’re planning on staying in Nyxx’s basement. They live in the middle of nowhere so it's a good place to hide out when we look for a more permanent spot closer to resource spots and places where we can have fun if we get antsy. Speaking of Nyxx’s place we’re pulling into the driveway right now so I gotta go, bye! Will probably post a little later once I get connected to wifi.
