Hey y'all I'm curious. Would there be interest in an Amazon-centric fan event? Like a big bang or just a prompt week?
Just like any any Amazon, whether that's Diana herself, the new Wonder Girl Yara, or heck even villains like Grail. They could all use some more love in the fan space.

Yep! The DC Amazons are immortal unless killed as long as they stay on Themiscrya.
Diana's mom Hypolyta is THE Hypolyta of myth, even if Diana herself is nowhere near as ancient (typically being exactly as old as she looks in the comics).
Oh no I knew that, I meant is it a thing that they can give those blessings to outsiders

DC Plot Bunnies on my Brain
Time-traveling Kon talks to his younger self about Tana Moon. I’ve been exploring the 90’s Superboy corner of fandom lately, and boy do those guys have some thoughts about Tana Moon. Muy negative.
I think an adult Kon who had a chance to talk to his younger self might also be able to express some criticism of Tana, but he would not be harsh about it. I think he would still view his younger self as having a lot of agency, and he would still remember how much he loved her.
So how do you explain to your younger self that the current “love of their life” isn’t actually good for them? Very veeerry gently.
Kon bed-hopping fic. I actually started this one over a year ago and have snippets of it on my hard drive. Basically, after the Gemworld and multiversal hopping, Kon has a paranoia about being alone, and he doesn’t have a place to stay. (I wrote this before reading about the Kents remembering him after all, so this is written with the assumption that he has nowhere to go.)
So Young Justice takes turns housing him. And then the sleepovers end up being a pretty effective way of catching up with old friends like the core four and getting to know the new ones like Amy, Naomi, and Jinny.
Kon/Lophi slow-burn. In my current Kon fic, I imply that if YJ had showed up later than they had, Kon would have felt duty-bound to stay on the Gemworld to raise baby Martha. I could write a story exploring that as well as his and Lophi’s relationship. However, core four fuzzies would still be involved, bc the team would 100% find a way to visit Kon on the regular if he were stuck in another dimension.
Kon/Amy slow-burn. Set after the YJ multiverse hopping storyline. With no way to return to the Gemworld, Kon and Amy are left to mourn it together. This leads to bonding. Amy does, however, have some experience with going between worlds and have some coping mechanisms to offer Kon. In turn, he’s able to make her feel more at home with the team.
Amy Winston character exploration via Young Justice. There is a LOT to explore. For one thing, Amethyst was never a very character-driven comic, so there’s a lot of scenarios where I have no clue what Amy would do. So I gotta start writing to find out.
In her own 80’s title, Amy can go back and forth between being confidently heroic and remembering that she’s a scared kid. Part of that was the physical transformation she would go through. Turning into a physically 20-something a la Shazam made her feel more confident. But she doesn’t have that trait in YJ continuity.
So maybe her magic is the key? In the 80’s series, Amy’s magic was very strong on the Gemworld, but would fade to nothing when she crossed over to Earth.
So what if in this Wonder Comics YJ ‘verse, her magic is fading away slowly while she’s stuck on Earth and that gradually eats at her confidence? What if she does bond with the core four, but then becomes scared to tell them that the thing that (in her mind) makes her a superhero is fading away?
Post-Mini Series Amethyst story. I have a very detailed write-up of this in my drafts. I was very frustrated with Amy being turned into, like, a Gemworld deity thing at the end of her OG series. But I write out a plot taking place after it that would allow me to really come to terms with it and have fun with where the characters are at that point. Might post the outline later. Basically makes Amy, Young Princess Emerald, and Donal (Topaz and Turquoise’s son) all co-protagonists.
Tim/Cassie detective competition. In a (fairly recent?) Wonder Woman storyline, Cassie referred to herself as a detective, and asked for time to investigate the murder of Hypolyta. What if that had consequences? What if there is some kind of, idk, Teen Detective Competition and maybe Donna enters Cassie’s into it bc she thinks she’d be into it?
Of course, Tim has entered but only because he sees it as chance to get close to someone else he’s actually investigating. But as soon as he sees that Cassie is one of the entrants things get… genuinely competitive for both of them. And then the trash-talking somehow turns into flirting when neither of them were paying attention?
Tim/Cassie preboot Identity Exploration. Cassie is reveling in having Kon and Bart back from the dead. She and Kon are “just friends” now, and tho a lil’ awkward, it’s still good. But a few passing comments between the three of them lead Cassie to realize that some of the things she knows about Tim’s civilian identity are contradictory.
She begins to obsess a bit. After all, Tim was her main support through OYL and other hells, so shouldn’t she know him better than anyone?
Meanwhile, she is utterly failing to make a go of her “Drusila” identity. When Tim hears about that, he offers to help. And as Tim teaches Cassie how to be someone else, he ends up revealing things about himself that clarify some of those contradictions that stumped her earlier.
Tim/Greta set during 90's YJ. Steph gets frustrated with Tim's lecturing and breaks up with him. Secret sees this as an opportunity, and shoots her shot. Tim has had an insane day and decides "ok, why not?" Queue their relationship subtly changing events throughout the YJ and Robin series.
#am I likely to start any of these soon?#No.#My plate is full with my Kon story and a teeny niggling desire to continue Stars Unearth Your Fires#but if I have to suffer these in my brain now so do the rest of you#hehe#cour four#young just us#tim drake#cassie sandsmark#kon el#conner kent#superboy#red robin#wonder girl#dc plot bunnies#dc fanfic#amy winston#greta hayes#gidgeblog

I don’t know how you feel about DC but in justice league action Batman and Superman are telling Queen Hypolyta about these villains and she just looks past them to Diana and says “Diana tell your sidekicks never to address me like that ever again” and I know it’s supposed to be some reverse sexism “the amazons are man haters!” Bs but it’s the most iconic thing I’ve ever seen. Like she is the Queen she’s not like other royals who you can talk to like a bar buddy.
Queen Hypolyta: yeah so like. i know you brought them here but listen. never have men speak to me again.
Batman: yeah diana what the fuck
Diana: shut up here you don’t have rights
Superman: can we make that everywhere. we can make that everywhere right--
#i don't know shit about DC other than diana FUCKS heavy and superman and batman probably bicker#please tell me they're assholes to one another#batman#superman#diana prince#wonder woman#queen hypolyta

A Midsummer's Night Dream in a nutshell basically
Oberon: Ah, yes, this ship is cute.
Puck: Okay, but what if we took a crack ship and made it canon???
#an idiot talks#a midsummer night's dream#okay but my sister had me watch like a modern adaptation of this???#and in it hypolyta (i don't remember how to spell it) was secretly one of the fairies#and she was also a lesbian in love with queen titania#and titania is bi and in a relationship with both oberon and hypolyta and theyre both okay with it#also puck is the biggest troll in it he made dmitrius fall in love with lysander at first#it was cool but#i have mixed feelings about it tbh#it was good it just#changed a lot of things in the play besides those things

So, Trial of the Amazons...
I honestly had a hard time following it? I was only doing a basic skim of it, but I really can't put the plot together. And there wasn't even an actual 'contest for a new leader' in any way, shape, or form! In particular, one key piece eludes me and I probably just missed it, but I need to know...
Why did Artemis kill Hypolyta? Like, I get the setup, but not the motive.

Finished the Lovecraft Country finale and....it was okay. Overall, I liked the show, I hope there’s another season because it has a neat concept going for it, but the ending was kinda...eh.
Like there’s no way to explain this if you haven’t seen the show yourself, but I really don’t think they built up Christina as the bad guy they wanted her to be by the end. Yes, her plan to kill Atticus to become immortal is established like 4-5 episodes from the finale, and obviously that’s pretty evil, but beyond that she’s established as not really a good or bad guy, but just someone who’s there to help the main characters w/ magic.
She literally helps them on numerous occasions, even when it doesn’t benefit her to, and she even makes it clear that she more or less doesn’t want to hurt them at all, she just has to...but part of the problem is there’s no real reason she has to.
Her whole issue is that she’s a woman born into a family where only men have any power, and she gets by by pretending to be her brother...and that’s sort of it. The immortality thing kinda comes from nowhere. The idea is that she wants to become immortal to I guess A) do what her father couldn’t do, and B) show everyone what she can do...but even her drive to impress isn’t made clear. She sort of has a very “who cares what others think” attitude so it’s not clear why she’d care what the other Order members thought of her.
Up until the last episode, she’s not really portrayed as being evil or malicious, and even then she makes it clear that she does not want to hurt them but she just feels she has to because reasons.
I think one of the issues with the show was that it was trying to balance a main plot, while also trying to show off what crazy shit can go on in their world. Like the whole bit about the time machine...or Hypolyta living for 1000 years...or D getting killed and then brought back...none of it really seemed to matter to the plot. It was all just “wow, cool, time travel, space robots, knockoff Pennywise”.
The show, overall, has good bones, but it needs to work on the meat. I hope there’s a season 2, I really do. It seemed to sorta set itself up for one but also maybe not. Ultimately, if it gets another season I think it will vastly improve the show, but if not, I think the show will suffer greatly for it.

I thought the implication, with the movie anyway (don’t know enough about the comics to say there), was that Hypolyta told Diana that she was sculpted from clay and brought to life by Zeus, but the way Ares speaks later it always seemed to be implied to me that Hypolyta and Zeus might have actually made Diana… the old fashioned way. Which was why she was so powerful—she’s biologically half-god??? It’s been a while since I saw the first movie though so I might be remembering wrong. Don’t take my word for it.
Ohhhh shit that would make sense you're right, he did kinda imply that! Thank you anon!!!!!

It was nice seeing #ConnieNielsen again, now as #Hypolyta, Queen of the Amazons. Loved her in #Gladiator. She was so regal in that Ridley Scott film. She stilll is in #WonderWoman and yet more, very kingly I dare say.

The Sandman is indeed DC. The comic is undeniably taking place in the DC Comics universe, the connections wane over time, but the references are strong in the first 2 volumes; Volume 1 features appearances by Martian Manhunter, Scott Free and The Scarecrow; John Dee is the DC supervillain Doctor Destiny (I believe he’s appeared in both the Justice League cartoon and the Arrowverse); Lyta and Hector are both Earth-2 heroes, Lyta (full name Hypolyta) is the daughter of Earth-2 Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor while Hector is the son of Hawkman and Hawkgirl (I think they’re story post-crisis in different, but I don’t care); the superhero Sandman is a DC character created by Jack “King” Kirby himself and Joe Simon; many dream characters like Cain and Abel, Lucien, the Wyrd Sister, and others are hosts from DC horror comics.
And then Constantine and Matthew. John Constantine, the DC Character, shows up in the first volume, his role is fulfilled by Johanna Constantine in the show presumably due to copyright issues and economy of casting; John’s ancestor Johanna Constantine appears in later volumes of the comics and I assume they decided it was easier to have both characters played by Jenna Coleman, and yeah, I think Gaiman said that John and Johanna are cousins, probably for simplicity sake or something. Now Matthew is Matthew Cable one of the main characters from the old Swamp Thing comics, he appears in the Swamp Thing show played by Henderson Wade; at some point he dies in the comics and Gaiman decided to put him in his comic; a lot of these elements are probably homages to the likes of Bernie Wrightson and Alan Moore, this post goes into the influence Bernie Wrightson had on The Sandman comic and the Alan Moore is not just Constantine, I recently learned that The Family Man, the missing guy from the Cereal convention is actually Constantine villain
Anyway, sorry for rambling, I hope it was informative
is. is sandman dc??? is the sandman fucking dc???? because i looked up Matthew's voice actor and it's showing me a character from swamp thing that died and was reincarnated as Dream's raven. what is happening. who is this man. why is swamp thing involved. and are Johanna Constantine and John Constantine related???? bc it's also saying that they're both in the comics????????? help

wasn't planning on 2 sets today, but someone planted this idea in my head, so here we are add some frustration to your story by adopting a character that chooses not to read anything they're supposed to - General Hitomi Sachs, She considers the best plan of attack to be the one with the most emphasis on attack - Doctor Selina Bustos, she's very much of the mindset that bigger is better - Senator Setsuna Ring, she wasn't aware that any of this was going on - Professor Hypolyta Crit, She's rumored to grade 90% of the papers on the catchiness of their title - Chief Financial Officer Reddie Ledger, She takes the practice of Ready, Fire, Aim to the extreme - District Attourney Filia Complaints, She doesn't need to prep, the evidence speaks for itself If you're interested, just SEND ME A NOTE, thanks. ^__^ ======== CONVENIENT REVIEW ON HOW THIS WORKS PLEASE REVIEW AS I RUN DOPTS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER ARTISTS - these are bust previews, yay - the transaction is clean hands, no fuss no muss, feel free to ask if you have further questions - There are two pricing options ... - $25 lands you the adoptable as is (full rights to character and etc) - the preview drawing will be colored after purchase - I'll be willing to give advice on how to mesh this with your other characters, but only after you do some legwork on implementing them into your cast - $50 lands you the chibi and bust sketch preview together - whatever component is missing from the set (bust sketch or chibi) to be done later - $60 lands you the adoptable and you also get a full body drawing of the character - again, the bust preview will be colored after purchase, as well as full rights and such (note, this will be placed on the following schedule --> http://fav.me/da5v3im ) - $80 lands you all 3: chibi, bust sketch, and full body - IF, by chance, someone else adopts the adoptable you wanted while this set is still open (or recently sold out), you can get a SIMILAR one for $25 - to clarify further, the new character will be a new character, but with enough changes to be a new character (i.e. Ryu and Ken are similar) - do note this is a courtesy offer as sets sometimes sell out on day 1, please be respectful - One other footnote: if you want a character "but with some changes" I would count that as a similar dopt - ALSO, Patrons have first dibs during the first day (that is, until I wake up the day after posting) - everyone else can place second dibs VIA NOTE, and will be rewarded the character if no patrons claim them - Please don't passive aggressively say "I SURE HOPE NOBODY ADOPTS THIS CHARACTER" in the comment section - I consider that badgering patrons and it will result in warnings (and permabans if you're a whiner about it)
