Probably the biggest thing I miss about S1 Jungle Juice is Hyeona & Daun's dynamics.

XOHYEONA HAS STARTED A LIVE VIDEO

“hi cherries,” hyeona waves to her phone camera propped on her coffee table, her voice is low and little raspy, like she’s tired; it’s damn near 1 in the morning.

“oh my god, cerise is live?” she reads, “i know right, what a shocker,” she replies in a dull, sarcastic tone before letting out a small chuckle. it’s a reasonable response, cerise isn’t very active on social media, despite being an idol. for a multitude of reasons, being that she doesn’t want to share much of her private life and even if she did, there wasn’t much to share. she’s an introverted homebody.

hyeona adjusts her spot on the floor and leans back against her couch, “how is everyone?” her eyes skim through each comment rolling in, good, tired, great now that i can see cerise’s face today.

“how are you?” she mumbles while reading the question, “i’m okay, i just got home from work. i’ve been very busy lately─ hi baby!” her low tone instant raises seeing her cat, rumi, come up to her and make a space in her lap. her face lightens up and her lips curl into a small smile.

“that should be good news for all of you.” she jokes, softly petting the russian blue feline. “i went to the hair salon this morning to get a protein treatment. then, i had a few schedules and spent the last few hours at the company.”

you should dye your hair next time, another comment reads. “what color should i dye it?” hyeona asks as she begins to run her hands through her hair, “i’ve only ever dyed my hair black. i’m a little scared to do a different color.”

some people say blonde, purple, red, “that might be nice,” she mumbles. others say she should keep her hair black. “i’ll think about it.” she decides.

as that conversation end, the chat fills with excitement with everyone questioning her about her activities. someone asks if she’s preparing for a comeback and it fuels more speculation in the comments.

hyeona hums, pretending to think, “am i preparing for a comeback?” she stalls, ignoring the question for a moment to fill the suspense.

“i don’t know,” she finally says, giving a teasing smile. it’s an obvious lie but she can’t give anything away. “i feel like i’m way too distant from you guys. i want to interact with you all more often.”

hyeona smiles at the supportive comments, people telling her not to worry and that they respect her privacy. she only pays attention to those comments. she’s been criticized for being more reserved but this only reassures her doubts.

she glances at the time, nearing 2am, “i know it’s late so i’ll let you guys go now. you should all get some rest; i’ll be going to sleep soon too.” she picks up rumi in front of her face and makes her paw wave to the camera, “bye bye!” she says in a high pitched tone before putting her down and clicking the ‘end live’ button on her phone.

i just realized how much my reactions to a ship is the same as its dynamic too. like rn im reading a chiscara fic and istg they make me feel like i wanna punch something but i love them which is like- so their dynamic. meanwhile with something like halfdain its like a fond nostalgia and wave of grief hits me in the face at the same time which is how their dynamic is. this also applies to a ship like hyeona and daun because those two are in the background but always together and its subtle but its like natural. AND THATS HOW THEY MAKE ME FEEL. i love them without really thinking about it. its like as i read my brain just always thought of them as gfs til my brain registered it and it felt right even if its not overtly loud in my thoughts compared to other ships.

the summer season was nearing its end and soon the weather will start to simmer down bringing the perfect start to the holidays. jaemin was pretty excited about that, he’d BEEN tired of the heat since the beginning and he dearly missed wearing his favorite sweaters which were all too thick for the occasion. the only good thing about the season were the street markets. that was the only thing that would bring minnie out of indigo’s comfortable, air-conditioned dorm. as fun as they were however they never lived up to the ones back in busan. but hyeona and his dad liked getting knick knacks from seoul — something to remind them of him, was their reasoning. plus his sister was always one for gifts. shifting the three paper bags to his left arm, he picked up a packet of seeds. “look juju — pumpkin seeds for autumn!” he gushed. “wouldn’t it be cool to grow our very own pumpkins? do you think leader hyung will let us? we can get a planter and put it on the balcony then when they’re ready we can carve them and make roasted pumpkin seeds.” he rambled.

Hyunjin is looking for a wife. Not just any wife, Kyeri is the one he wants.

"That's Kahei, she's the only child of the Duke and Duchess of Rose Quartz," A stranger said

"I pity the Duke, he probably thinks he should've married someone else who was more adequate in fertility, Kahei is a woman, Kahei can’t inherit the title of Duchess. If only they had a son, too bad that title would go to Kahei's cousin," The stranger said as they watched the Rose Quartz couple interacting with others of the ton

"Excuse me? How dare you talk about my mother like that?" Kahei speaks up

"Ms Kahei," They quickly apologized

"My mother will stay titled, married and loved as you untitled, unloved and sure married,” Kahei said as she spotted the Lady’s husband discreetly looking at the debutantes

She smirks as she looks at her “You can stay that way if you want to continue spitting that vile mouth of yours."

"My friend is the matchmaker," Hyeona introduces Kahei to Hyunjin

"She was the one who said Lord Jaehyun and Lady Chaeyoung would be matched when they denied it," Hyeona patted her shoulders

"Oh please that was just one couple," Kahei said

"She has helped countless, Kahei here is an expert," Hyeona insisted, giving Kahei a gentle nudge.

Hyunjin stepped forward, sincerity in his gaze "Will you help me?" Hyunjin asked

Kahei hesitated “Who do you want me to match you with?”

“Kyeri.”

“The Diamond of the Season?” Her eyes widen

Hyunjin wants Ms Kyeri but finds it hard to please her father. However, all he has to do is to put Kyeri and him in the same room so that a scandal can ensue.

"Is that seriously your plan?" Kahei asked, dumbfounded

"Is that a problem Rose Quartz?" Hyunjin furrows

"Yes, a huge problem! I will not do that,” She snapped

"And why not?"

"That's forced, I want Kyeri to fall for a nice man who would treat her right and you have to show that to her," Kahei shoots back in anger

"All you are showing me is that you would rather force marriage into her than show her how great of a husband and man you could be."

"Now get out before you and I find ourselves into a marriage we BOTH wouldn't want," She points at the door

What Ms Kahei had said bothered him. What do you mean you wouldn't want to marry the handsome Viscount?

"I do not understand, me and Kyeri being alone will make the ton speak and a woman cannot be walking around with a man without a chaperone, is the perfect plan,” Hyunjin does not understand why Kahei hates his idea

"Do you truly think Kyeri will be okay with marrying you?" Kahei questioned

"Okay or not okay, she has to."

Her eyes widen "Do you not hear yourself!?" She asked

"Kyeri should be with a man who her heart desires, not someone who she is forced to marry!" she shot back, her voice sharp

Hyunjin clenched his fists, anger bubbling beneath the surface. “You don’t get to decide what’s best for me or Kyeri.”

“Neither do you!” she countered, her voice rising. “You’re acting selfishly, Hyunjin. If you truly cared for her, you’d want her to choose you willingly, not because of a scandal!”

"There is nothing you can do to stop me," Hyunjin said

"Watch me."

"Kyeri, I decided to choose you as the girl I will help find a match," Kahei said

"Kahei, it is an honour for you to choose my daughter," Kahei's mother said

"The honour is mine," She bowed

"Here, I have a list of men who I think would be eligible," Kahei continued, presenting a neatly folded piece of paper.

Kyeri leaned closer, scanning the name "I don't see the Viscount Ruby, Lord Hyunjin here?" Kyeri said

"That is because he is a no good man, I beg of you not to be acquainted with him," Kahei pleaded

"Why is Kahei waltzing around with Kyeri?" Hyunjin says as he takes a sip of his drink, eyes on the pair

"Just like the Queen who chooses her diamond, Kahei chooses a lady of the ton to ship with."

"Ship with? What is that, a new word? And since when does she do this?" Hyunjin questioned

"Since things had gone well for Jaehyun and Chaeyoung and other couples, she decided to do something similar to the Queen, choose a special someone to match with."

His friend continued, "Queen Kiyeon and Kahei have been pretty much enemies.”

"So Kahei decided to help Kyeri instead huh?" Hyunjin said with a raised brow

"May I have this dance," Hyunjin asked, extending his hand to Kyeri with a charming smile

“She will not,” Kahei interjected, her tone firm

“It is rude for a lady to decline a dance from a gentleman,” he replied smoothly, refusing to back down

“What gentlemen?” Kahei shot back, crossing her arms defiantly

"You two," Kyeri intervened

The two turned to look at Kyeri. Kahei clears her throat.

"Yes, My lord it would be an honour to have this dance," Kyeri said, accepting his hand

As they walked toward the dance floor, Hyunjin couldn’t resist glancing back at Kahei, a smirk playing on his lips. His expression seemed to say, I told you so.

"No matter how much I try to split them away, the more they get closer," Kahei talks to Hyeona

Kahei sighs "Maybe those two should be together, I am glad that Lord Hyunjin didn't choose to go for that horrible idea."

“They look good together,” Hyeona said, glancing back at the couple twirling beneath the chandeliers

"They do look good,” Kahei admits “I shall tell Kyeri that and if she wants, I will help her try to win the Viscount's heart, however, that would be an easy job since he already is in love."

Hyunjin overhears, oh how wrong Kahei is. The more he spent time with Kyeri the more he interacted with Kahei and the more he got infatuated with the wrong girl.

He finds himself being in love with Kyeri's matchmaker.

"I was stupid as hell as to wanting to be with Kyeri when it is you would I want," Hyunjin said

"Kyeri is the one you are in love with not me."

"Don't try to deny my feelings just like you're denying yours," He said

Hyunjin sighed, running a hand through his hair "I am confused, I am lost, I am disoriented yet when I find your eyes I feel better, I tried and tried to get it out mind but is it always you who resurfaces through it despite always seeing Ms Kyeri yet by her side it is you who I see."

“Hyunjin, I—I spoke to Kyeri earlier. She’s interested in you, and I can’t… I’m sorry,” Kahei said, her voice shaky.

“Weren’t you the one who said you wanted Kyeri to be with a man who would truly love her, someone her heart desires?” he challenged, his eyes locked onto hers

“What if she’s not what my heart desires?” he replied, the words hanging in the air

Silence stretched between them.

“W-what about you?” Hyunjin’s voice softening

“Don't think about Kyeri or me,” Hyunjin said, his tone firm “Think about yourself for once, What do you truly desire?”

Also, not you casually recommending me the best webcomic I've ever read? HELLO? I started reading it and couldn't stop, the story and art were both so awe inspiring. jaemin knew it was coming yet it didn’t stop the slight surprise every time. maybe he was haunted by the memories of getting asked out as a joke when he was in school and maybe there was some sincerity in zayne’s words but it was hard to tell. “a date?” he repeated, his words echoing in his mind as he tried to figure out the tone in them. despite it all, there was that look in the videographer’s eyes that had him second guessing his intentions. “oh, you want me to return the favor by buying you a meal?” he asked. minnie felt as though he was missing something, lost in translation or ‘dense’ as hyeona would call him. it kind of irked him, only because he knew she was right. sometimes. “i can do that. whatever you want.”

"of course. anything for you." not a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he said it. zayne kneels down next to the table, his elbows resting on it with his hands balled up into fist tucked under his chin as he gazes up at the idol with a grin. he loved the pretty pink hue on the other mans cheeks. it's no wonder he always feels compelled to flirt with him even if he knows jaemin has no interest in reciprocating. the thought of missing his shot was more daunting than embarrassing himself. "pay me back? hmm~" zayne thinks about it for a moment. he had no interest or desire for anything as simple as money. "sure. how about a date?" he suggests as an alternative.
