VAMPIRIA is a fictional south korean girl group established by HYSTERIA RECORDS. the group consists of members HYEONA, LIZZIE, JADE, SAENA, & BLAIR. the five member girl group debuted on may 22nd, 2020 with the extended play, FIRST BITE.

before VAMPIRIA, there was CHESHIRE, a seven member girl group under SEOULSTAR ENTERTAINMENT. the current CEO of hysteria records, JEONG MISA, was the creative director for the group. the group was set to debut in 2018 with members SEOLA, HARUKA, JIYEON, NABI, DAHYE, HYEONA, & SEHWI. however, after dahye’s sudden passing, the group was disbanded and the company shut down. though, misa had other plans. that same year, she established hysteria records and began the development of VAMPIRIA.

the case of VAMPIRIA is a bit of a mystery to the general public. very little is known about their company and the only amount of pre debut publicity that they had was due to saena being a former SM ROOKIES trainee, blair being a popular model in china, and hyeona having famous parents. despite their predebut platforms, VAMPIRIA as a whole kinda just appeared out of nowhere with a teaser video and a couple of concept photos. nobody really knew what to make of these girls, or the company promoting them.

VAMPIRIA wasn’t an instant success like the company excepted, hence the little predebut promotion. they didn’t start to pick up traction until their first comeback, REBIRTH, which gained attention with its dark, alt-pop sound. since then, VAMPIRIA has been known as group to turn heads. their alluring and dark feminine concept has allowed them to stand out in the midst of brighter sounds in the industry.

while on the road to success, VAMPIRIA has had a career filled with ups and downs. from scandals, to company mismanagement, to turmoil within the group—rumors surround the members of VAMPIRIA like a hawk. though, the group and company’s desperation has kept them afloat and led them to solidifying themselves as a prominent girl group in the entertainment industry through their music, controversies, and questionable success. though, no one really knows what lies beneath the surface.

i just realized how much my reactions to a ship is the same as its dynamic too. like rn im reading a chiscara fic and istg they make me feel like i wanna punch something but i love them which is like- so their dynamic. meanwhile with something like halfdain its like a fond nostalgia and wave of grief hits me in the face at the same time which is how their dynamic is. this also applies to a ship like hyeona and daun because those two are in the background but always together and its subtle but its like natural. AND THATS HOW THEY MAKE ME FEEL. i love them without really thinking about it. its like as i read my brain just always thought of them as gfs til my brain registered it and it felt right even if its not overtly loud in my thoughts compared to other ships.

the summer season was nearing its end and soon the weather will start to simmer down bringing the perfect start to the holidays. jaemin was pretty excited about that, he’d BEEN tired of the heat since the beginning and he dearly missed wearing his favorite sweaters which were all too thick for the occasion. the only good thing about the season were the street markets. that was the only thing that would bring minnie out of indigo’s comfortable, air-conditioned dorm. as fun as they were however they never lived up to the ones back in busan. but hyeona and his dad liked getting knick knacks from seoul — something to remind them of him, was their reasoning. plus his sister was always one for gifts. shifting the three paper bags to his left arm, he picked up a packet of seeds. “look juju — pumpkin seeds for autumn!” he gushed. “wouldn’t it be cool to grow our very own pumpkins? do you think leader hyung will let us? we can get a planter and put it on the balcony then when they’re ready we can carve them and make roasted pumpkin seeds.” he rambled.

jaemin knew it was coming yet it didn’t stop the slight surprise every time. maybe he was haunted by the memories of getting asked out as a joke when he was in school and maybe there was some sincerity in zayne’s words but it was hard to tell. “a date?” he repeated, his words echoing in his mind as he tried to figure out the tone in them. despite it all, there was that look in the videographer’s eyes that had him second guessing his intentions. “oh, you want me to return the favor by buying you a meal?” he asked. minnie felt as though he was missing something, lost in translation or ‘dense’ as hyeona would call him. it kind of irked him, only because he knew she was right. sometimes. “i can do that. whatever you want.”

min hyeona always knew that she wanted to be a star. having parents who worked in the entertainment industry since the early 90s, she thought fame was destined for her. as a baby. her mother carried her around to meetings and events. she loved the way people fawned over her like a porcelain baby doll.

as a child, hyeona did it all: singing, dancing, acting, modeling. her parents made sure she was a quadruple threat. though, it wasn’t her talents that landed her at her first company, it was her connections. hyeona’s father is close friends with the ceo of seoulstar entertainment, han mujin. hyeona didn’t have to audition and prove herself like other trainees, she was just in because she wanted to get in.

hyeona was set to debut in seoulstar’s first girl group, cheshire, in 2018. however, after the sudden, and suspicious, death of another member, ryu dahye, the group was disbanded before debut and the company as a whole would shut down.

luckily, this wouldn’t be the end of hyeona’s idol career. the creative director who worked with cheshire for their debut, jeong misa, decided to establish her own company, and recruited hyeona to be a member of her first girl group.

while being the center of vampiria, hyeona is treated as the group’s punching bag by netizens. mainly due to the nepotism controversy, but also because of her alleged bad attitude. she’s been accused of bullying her members, being rude to staff, and prioritizing herself over the team, despite being the leader. many of hyeona’s actions don’t come off as genuine. anything she does is seen as forcing her success. and maybe she does, but when you spend your entire life working for something, you’re gonna make sure you get it, and that’s what hyeona does.

lizzie oh was born into a wealthy and prestigious family in southern california. she was the it girl of the town. everyone knew who she was, and everyone either loved her or hated her. influenced by her family, lizzie was not a good person. she was manipulative, a bully, and tormented anyone who crossed her. she seemed to have the perfect life, but there was always more beneath the surface than what she led on.

while lizzie always had a love for music, she never saw herself becoming an idol. it wasn’t until she was casted by misa through instagram for vampiria that she decided to take a chance.

lizzie moved to korea the night before her eighteenth birthday. she didn’t tell anyone she was leaving, not even her parents. when her parents found her gone the next morning and couldn’t contact her, they called the police. she was declared missing and a search party was held for lizzie. it wasn’t until a year later when she appeared as a member of vampiria that the search was called off. when lizzie finally called her parents, she didn’t explain anything. she just told them that she wasn’t coming back and to just leave her alone.

lizzie took on the role of the group’s songwriter after the group’s debut. her lyricism and musicality was exactly what misa had envisioned for the group’s sound. she has been praised for essentially sculpting the group’s musical direction, allowing them to stand out.

in 2022, lizzie would go through a very public scandal with her boyfriend. dispatch revealed her relationship with a popular tattoo artist, lee saeran, and exposed the couple’s toxicity. they would be photographed arguing in public which ended in a physical altercation. since then, they’ve had a public on-and-off relationship with many netizens showing disdain for their relationship.

lee namra’s life can only be described as extremely turbulent. her mother was mentally unstable and had a difficult time caring for namra. when she was seven, her mother left home and never came back, leaving a tiny namra all by herself. it was until two weeks later when someone came to check on the household to find namra alone. after that, she stayed with her grandparents in korea for a couple months until her father, who lived in canada, was able to come and get her. once she settled in canada, she adopted the name jade as her english name.

jade has always displayed unstable behavior as a child, but it only intensified once she moved from korea to canada. coming into an established family of her father, stepmother, and stepbrother made her feel like an outisder, and she took her frustration out of everyone else. she often lashed out, participated in dangerous behaviors, and had little care for hers or the safety of others.

jade joined jyp entertainment after her stepmother recommended that she audition. when she was 15, she grew sort of an infatuation with idols. she admired how perfect they looked on screen and wanted to be like them. but, when her stepmother suggested that she audition for a company, jade took this as an attack and thought the woman was trying to get rid of her. out of anger and impulse, jade auditioned for jyp, and when she got in, she cut contact with all of her family except for her brother.

her time at jyp wouldn’t last very long. after two years of training, she was suddenly transferred to hysteria records. jade had a history of getting into trouble at jyp and while they couldn’t deny her talents, they couldn’t handle her being an idol under their company.

since debuting in vampiria, jade, always stuck out for being rough around the edges. she always spoke her mind and would be seen smoking and drinking in public. people saw her as a delinquent who doesn’t fit the idol mold. maybe that’s true. jade will never be someone who will adhere to the standards of being an idol, but its what her fans like about her. she unapologetically herself and it’s refreshing to a lot of people.

there’s nothing really special about noh saena’s upbringing. she grew up in a loving household with two loving parents. she was an only child and experienced a bit of loneliness. her dream was to be in a girl group but not because she wanted to be an idol. she wanted to have the sisterhood that she lacked—the one that idols portrayed on tv.

saena auditioned and made it into sm entertainment at the age of twelve. she was introduced to the public only a couple months later as a member of sm rookies. for a long time, many suspected that saena would make her debut in sm’s next girl group after red velvet, however she quietly left the company in 2018 and signed with hysteria records.

saena is know as vampiria’s golden child—the perfect idol. she always shows up looking pretty, never a hair out of place, and always smiling for the camera. while she may not be the most talked about member, she’s certainly the most well-liked. many netizens believe that saena should separate herself from the other members. her sweet image doesn’t exactly match with the other girls and most people believe that leaving the group would be best for her reputation. she has taken multiple advertisements and has the most solo promotions in the group.

though, all the glitters isn’t always gold for saena. while she’s generally loved, she gets unnecessary hate for her image. being called “fake” or a “pick-me” by international fans. some people believe that her image is just for show and that she’s really not as nice as she comes across, but nobody really knows who saena is—except for her members.

xinyi started out in the entertainment industry as a child model. she got her first gig at the age of four and made a career out of it. she’s made a name for herself as one of the most famous child stars in china. she first met misa in 2011. she was shooting for a photo book that misa was credited on as creative director. at the time, xinyi wasn’t someone who stood out to misa as multiple other models were pictured for the book. however, when it came time to form vampiria, xinyi came to mind. xinyi started going by the name blair in 2016, named after her favorite character from her favorite show, gossip girl. the name fit her switch from a playful, innocent image to a more dark and mysterious one. it made her the perfect candidate for the group’s concept.

blair had a difficult time adjusting to training under hysteria records. not only because of the language barrier but also because she never trained to be an idol. she couldn’t sing or dance at the time. a lot of people believe that blair wasn’t ready to debut, but she got a spot in the group because of her visuals. she received the most hate for being “untalented,” and a “filler member.”

just a year after their debut, blair would take a hiatus for “personal reasons.” most people assumed that it was because of all of the hate. when she came back eight months later, she’d be a completely different person. not only did she look different, but her talents seemed to improve. her personality also seemed to change, once being the quietest member to being more bold and outspoken about her opinions. blair stopped receiving hate for her skills and gained praise for her (unknowingly to some) second “rebrand.”

Hyeona is the perfect example of why realistic outlook to life can be rubbish and will hurt you. If you decide that everybody in the world is messed up and refuse to set any boundaries to protect yourself, you'll accrue toxic behaviours. You think it makes you wise or wary but you underestimate the persistence of human behaviour. If you surround yourself with too much chaos and are too open to anything, you'll find yourself stuck somewhere you don't expect. Now Hyeona realised painfully being with Changhee that anything that's not messy and fucked up doesn't make her feel fulfilled. And after all the experience and wisdom she thinks she gathered enough to know better, that realisation is the saddest thing of all. Now she'll either drag this burden around as she either spends years trying to undo the damage or sink deeper into it. Either way,there's still a lot of pain left for her to go through
