Well, it sounds like they're not using the Keep anymore, and I'm not sure what questions are going to be asked for the worldstate setup at the start, buuuut...

DAO: Jeanne Amell, of course. Jeanne doesn't have a ~canon romance (though I could be persuaded if someone makes a good argument). King Alistair and Queen Anora. Werewolves cured, Circle mages were saved, Ashes untouched, Redcliffe saved with the whole family alive (though Jeanne took the demon's deal and then killed it), King Bhelen with a destroyed Anvil. Loghain survived. Morrigan got preggo with Kieran. Architect was killed. Both Amaranthine and the Keep protected. All companions alive.

DA2: I'm having a hard time deciding if I'm going to go with Adnan or Amelie, but they pretty much have the same story beats. Humorous Mage Hawke. Romanced Fenris (OT3 Isabela). Carver is a Grey Warden. Anders is alive, but unhappily so. Merrill kept the Eluvian. Aveline is married and stayed Guard-Captain. Varric didn't keep the idol, and Bartrand is alive. Sebastian's causing Kirkwall a lot of headaches. Helped Tallis. Sided with the mages. Sided with Larius.

DAI: Proserpina (Panini!) Lavellan. Artificer Rogue. Technically romanced Iron Bull, but given Solas is in love with her, I'm wondering if I should mark the Solas romance. Dorian is besties, but headed back to Tevinter. Blackwall is back to being Thom Rainier. Chargers are alive, Bull is Tal-Vashoth. Harmond pressed into service, Sera stayed. Solas helped his spirit friend. Cole made more human. Varric dealt with Bianca. Helped Vivienne try to save the Duke. Josephine helped the Du Paraquettes and the Montilyets regained their status. Cullen stopped using lyrium. Leliana was softened and eventually made Divine. Helped the mages in Redcliffe, who joined the Inquisition. Strong-armed Celene, Gaspard, and Briala into working together. Loghain stayed in the Fade, Grey Wardens were exiled. Pina drank from the Well. Exposed the truth about Ameridan and became respected by the Avvar. Found out the truth about lyrium. The Inquisition stayed together as a peacekeeping organization. Pina vowed to stop Solas no matter the cost.

Hard to say... I'm mostly trying to keep my expectations low, given just how long the dev cycle has been and the massive layoffs last year. I'm definitely not pre-ordering. I guess I'm kind of just hoping to be pleasantly surprised, lol.

TURN-91: The Grim Reaper’s One-Turn Kill

Rumors have spread of a duelist taking part in GeneX who defeats his opponents in one turn.  This turns out to be Tachibana, who gained his drawing power through a pact with a Grim Reaper card.  Judai ends up dueling Tachibana, who’s sold his soul to the Grim Reaper, and with the start of their duel, Tachibana draws his “One-Hit Knockout! Slash Draw” Magic Card and comes at Judai with his One-Turn Kill. Can Judai possibly...

TURN-92: The Triangle Duel

As word goes around that rank-and-file Instructor Chronos and Vice-Principal Napoleon are being “fired,” Principal Samejima shouts “Get out of here!” at them.  They were both disheartened, but they happen to catch Chairman Pegasus of Industrial Illusions, Inc., on his way to visit Principal Samejima, and they ask for employment with I2.  Pegasus says he will approve their employment if they somehow defeat him in a duel, and so starts a Triangle Duel between Pegasus, Chronos, and Napoleon.  Can Chronos and Napoleon hope to...

Slight delay in finalizing these aside, these episodes aren’t too bad; some continuity with the Duel Academia’s North Campus in Tachibana and his struggle to make the decks he cares about work, making him turn to a Grim Reaper spirit promising to improve his drawing ability--at the cost of his soul. Works well enough for a one-shot episode in GX, nice seeing another One-Turn Kill strategy after Ojin’s in 84, plus the animation looks really good throughout, along with “Impossible Victory” being used as Tachibana switches arms with his Disk to reject the Grim Reaper’s influence.  92′s fun with Pegasus making another cameo--this time, actually dueling--and the premise being that Chronos and Napoleon thought Samejima fired them when he was just frustrated was up GX’s humor alley--though it is interesting Toon Kingdom didn’t come out in the card game until long after GX (I liked the shot of it as we see Toon Red Archery Girl, Toon Summoned Daemon, and the other Toons he used in DM as a nice homage).  Pegasus’ll still have some time in S2 and S3, related to the plot Samejima thought about early in the episode, so he’ll be back.  Kind of a shame they didn’t make a GX remix for his Toon World theme from DM though, lol; points to the dub for using theirs.  (Tachibana’s voice in the dub was also really good.)

Edit-wise, both episodes had a fair amount of fixes I applied, mostly on the card error and quality-of-watching end (including some interesting split-screen issues), but there were 2-3 bigger ones I was able to make work; due to Tumblr’s dumb link limit in posts yeeting them out of the tags used for them and limiting their reach, and since I still wanted a visual element to it, I’ve made a separate post with my usual fix/edit breakdown for the interested!

Anywho, enjoy! These make for a little breather as we get into Judai vs White Asuka next time and some changes to Saiou’s SOLA plans.  Been looking forward to revisiting the next stretch of eps for a while as Season 2 closes on some of its best episodes; should be fun.

I took notes on my real time reactions to Veilguard and will be breaking them up into sections with my follow up thoughts! SPOILERS APLENTY so avoid under the cut!

Part 1: Boot up, Character Creator and Companion intros

I’m not a sound nerd but my bf is. It was really cool to see that this game has like next level sound design! There is a profile for a crazy type of soundscape that I got a sample of that's like. Dynamic and molded to the room you're in. It makes it sound like things are whizzing past you or moving around you more than regular surround sound will. We don’t have that level of sound system set up but if we do one day, I’ll look forward to the replay. I don’t play many like new/current/hip games but this is the first time I’ve seen that in a game setting and I can imagine hearing magic shots whizz past you and griffons circling the room would be super cool.

Character Creator took a bit to get used to. I love my rook now but took some finessing to make them look… human (I played an elf but regardless). Figuring out the head triangle thing was strange but once I figured out how to change the head presets it got better. I think the hair physics are GREAT but the styles are... somewhat strange in how they sit on the head or stray about 5% too cartoonish. Very funny to now be seeing everyone else's Rook's and we all chose the kind of wavy medium hair lol.

I was NOT going in with a very strong concept for my Rook other than knowing I was probably going to be an elf and mage again because that's generally what I like to play and I knew I wanted them to be pretty hostile to Solas in contrast to my Lavellan. So I had no clue what would be a good faction to suit them. I ended up choosing the Veil Jumpers just because I was like sure whatever I'll stick with the most Elfy Option. I figured since they're researching ancient elves, my Rook wouldn't be disillusioned about the god's or Solas. Early in the game I don't think it as a choice makes much sense but I've figured out how to write their backstory so it makes sense (Rook intro post to come).

I knew I wanted my Rook to be a huge ass to Eggman. She does not care for the elven gods and I wanted her to have the sass and resentment of a teen daughter left by Solas after the Solavellan divorce. (She is not their kid at all).

Similarly I love that Varric has a Hero Type and picked up just another snarky, soft-hearted, hard headed gremlin. In part because he'd like them, and in part because he thinks there's something enough like Lavellan in them to knock some sense into Solas.

omg they stabbed Varric. had to NOT SCREAM and wake up the whole house (my live reaction)

2nd almost scream moment was Harding getting her powers/almost falling off a cliff. TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. Freaked out seeing her drop, music got to me, and the BRIEFEST flash of relief when she rose up but then DEEP DEEP CONCERN over that Exorcist shit.

wow the Tevinter Nights bingo is popping off. Lots of cameos.

wow ALL the dragon age bingo is popping off!! really happy to see things paid off after so much build up! the lore is good!!! (I believe this was in reference to the mural reveals about Mythal and Solas as spirits, the titans etc)

stoked we got Maevaris cameo and IMMEDIATE DORIAN cameo!!!! so happy!! The mustache is fab, he looks like a mean old queen, the beard could be better. i hate when they use standard hair models for beards: it isn’t the same texture. It works enough on Lucanis because it's dark but it being brown on Dorian you can see how the highlights are wrong.

love Neve for my Rook's Bestie. (whoops reading this after I let Minrathous get fucked up hard and she gets pissed at me for awhile...). Got a lot of approval with their similar dry/wry humor.

reluctant griffin Dadvrin. Really loved this because from trailers and intros I thought he would already be close to Assan, so I really enjoy that he is the reluctant custodian of this creature. I love a "we're both learning from each other" animal relationship.

will cry about Davrin codex naming Assan. Parenting and cat dad all in one ugh my heart.

Emmerich is super charming!! As a long time Vincent Price and John Waters fan I love his design and Vibe so much but he's much more Mr Rogers. Also I canNOT romance him as a young woman Rook. That man is GAY. Love his fear of mortality as a necromancer that's so fascinating and fun to explore.

Manfred is, of course, darling.

I. Love. Taash. I love an Autistically Blunt character. And cool to have the fire breather confirmation!!

Notes:

She is a Dalish elf adopted by Strife's clan as a bairn because Tevinter slavers slaughtered and enslaved her own. She was hidden by her mother's warded/enchanted ring that her father made (they were both highly skilled craftsmen and thus ended up as slaves; Fenalan does not know this and thinks they are dead). She came into her magic while hiding in the ruins of her camp and formed a bond with a pack of wolves who sensed the charm and kept other predators away. After she was found, the wolves howled while looking for her and she responded back perfectly; the keeper thus named her Fenalan and gave her the name Aldwir as a sort of honor to her circumstances (since I translate it loosely as "very lonely and little one"), since they were uncertain which clan at the time suffered the massacre. She chose Elgar'nan's vallaslin as a vow of vengeance to protect those vulnerable, then joined the Veil Jumpers once the anomalies began to crop up in order to help the other elves of Ar'lath'an Forest. Once she ran into trouble and was sent away, she lost her bearings; she's always had a duty to keep her busy and felt somewhat lost. When she met Varric, they became fast friends—she is highly protective of him since he gave her a sense of purpose again, and thus she highly distrusts Solas. She would be lying, however, if she said that she wasn't secretly fascinated by him and the knowledge he might have. She is derisive towards him due to the circumstances, but over time they grow close and she learns to respect him. "Harellan", which starts as a derogatory name of mockery in response to his vehemence, shifts into one of fondness. She is a striking, astute, and curious woman of strong opinions and critical thinking. She is also somewhat temperamental and headstrong, but if she is presented with a new point of view on something she will take the time to consider it. She is straightforward and blunt with a cutting sense of humor; slow to trust, but fiercely loyal once won. (Sound familiar to anyone? No? Okay.)

Khalida ("immortal/everlasting") Ingellvar

Background: Mourn Watch

Class: Mage | Death Caller

Notes:

I don't have as much of a backstory for Khalida developed quite yet, but I know her personality pretty well. She feels more connected to the dead of the Necropolis and is more comfortable interacting with them and being in their company than the living. This makes most people disquieted by her, finding her very off-putting and strange, since she's not as familiar with 'conventional' socialization that 'normal' people have. Emmrich is her mentor and is one of the few that truly understands her; she is also very fond of Manfred as a result. She grew up as the black sheep of the Mortalitasi, and while she was perfectly content with her state of affairs during that time, once she broke up the Skeleton War and was sent away, she withdrew into herself severely and drifted aimlessly for a long while before she came across Varric. He has very strong paternal feelings for her since she reminds him a lot of Cole and takes her under his wing. He's used to her unique little oddities (behaviors and ways of speaking especially) and she feels as safe to be open with him as she does with Emmrich. She is curious to a fault, however, inherently trusting of most people because—in her experience—the dead of the Necropolis have little reason to disguise their true personalities. This gets her into quite a bit of trouble, so she has to develop her street smarts quickly while under Varric's tutelage. She is fascinated by Solas and wants to understand him; she would be the most vulnerable to any trickery he may employ, honestly, but she would endear herself to him with her somewhat innocent and incessant questions. He appreciates that she's willing to learn and understand all the pieces of the puzzle before she casts judgment; he finds it easiest to trust her compared to the rest since she has such little capacity for deception with her sincerity and earnesty. She is not naive, however, just significantly optimistic despite all the shit she's been through because she wants to treat others with the kindness she was rarely afforded. She is the most open-hearted, openly caring, and compassionate of all my rooks tbh. Her strong point is her mind; her weakness is her heart since she has so much trouble navigating interpersonal relationships with corporeal people compared to spirits and the like. She just wants to help those around her so bad; because of this she's definitely an acts of service person. My sweet girl, all in all, and why I picked her to be my Lucanis romance—he needs all the TLC he can get, I think, and her being as awkward as he is learning how to love will help.

Fenan ("heart of a wolf") Aldwir

Class: Rogue | Veil Ranger

Inquisitor: Sora Lavellan [undecided, as she is also a support-based mage like Enaste; maybe archer?]

Notes:

Not as developed as the others. Hot-headed, brash, and quick to anger; he's definitely more of my Solas mirror. He's dedicated to his people and more devout to traditional Dalish beliefs (compared to Fenalan, who just wants to find out the truth regardless of personal feelings); he'd be the type that would have refused Solas when he first came out of uthenara and tried to tell the Dalish the truth. Fenan is intimately familiar with the school of hard knocks; he does not like Solas, does not trust him at all, and is especially angry after seeing him betray Varric (who sees a bit of Fenris in his personality and difficult upbringing in a more aggressive clan near the Tevinter border; he dislikes most humans as a result)—they butt heads almost constantly as a result, but they eventually come to a tentative understanding once Fenan gets a bigger picture of what's actually going on outside of what Solas tells him. Bellara smooths out his rougher edges.

Anaan ("victory") Mercar

Race: Qunari (f.)

Background: Shadow Dragon

Class: Mage | Evoker

Romance: Davrin

Inquisitor: Herah Adaar [two-handed warrior | reaver] (Blackwall)

Notes:

At this point my Rook/Inquisitor dynamics start to get a little tropey. These are the warden romance pairings; however, I'm really excited for the shared Qunari/Vashoth interactions possible here. She was abducted during a raid or something in the midst of the Tevinter-Qun war and raised as a slave as more of a prize/exotic prisoner of war put into harsher house labor (think carrying around firewood for the kitchens, decorations/furniture/food prep/etc.) until she developed her magic. Then she was shunned for fear that she might fight back against her owners; she ended up fleeing and joining the Shadow Dragons as a teenager and has worked with them ever since. Quiet and submissive but in the guard dog way. Always watchful; the type to always sit in the corner watching the door of any given room. Sees Varric as a boss more than anything, but they're on very friendly terms. They grow closer throughout the events of Veilguard. She isn't outwardly angry with Solas, as she just considered it her job to stop him, and her lack of aggression helps them to cooperate better than others; they end up on neutral friendly terms one she realizes that he has similar motivations of stopping slavery and helping the oppressed as she does. Davrin has to pursue her, technically, since she tends to keep people at arm's length—she's not cold, per se, but cool and calm and collected. It takes a lot to get an emotional response out of her and she is afraid of being mistreated again. She does end up being besties with Herah, however, and ends up considering her an older sister since they share many similarities. She's very 'look like she could kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll' vibes. Big ol' teddy bear. Gives the best hugs. Will die for anyone who initiates casual physical affection because this girl wants to be loved so badly and just doesn't know how to seek it out. (Also why she would actually die for Assan; he becomes her emotional support griffon.)

Aedan ("little fire") Thorne

Background: Gray Warden

Class: Warrior | Champion

Notes:

Not a lot to say here. Wanted to play a warrior warden like all the combat previews. Really curious to see how Solas will treat a warden!rook differently. Definitely my least developed. He's quiet and gentlemanly but in more of the standoffish way rather than awkward. He's never been attracted to anyone until Neve so she'll definitely have to take the lead once he starts (trying) to show interest in her. She finds it endearing and kind of funny how clueless he is tbh.

Misuin ("blade that brings quiet") De Riva

Background: Antivan Crow

Notes:

Nervous, romantic disaster who bonds with Lucanis like glue; gets so shy around Lace that it's painful. Again, not a lot of detail here. Misuin is disconnected from his elvhen heritage (and probably knows Zevran bc I say so) but wants to know more; he's fascinated by the ancient world but only because it's directly impacting Lace in particular—and himself to a lesser degree. Kind of butts heads with Davrin and Bellara as a result, but likens them to siblings nevertheless. Also, side note: Maxwell is the knight in shining armor, fencing, sweep-you-off-your-feet type. Classical noble archetype. Maximum fluff for Josephine.

Notes:

This is, to be perfectly honest, kind of a crack playthrough. I remembered how hilarious it was seeing a Bull romance with a dwarf with the height difference, then thought of how funny it would be for a dwarf to romance Taash, too, and...well. This happened. Fiesty little disasters of rogue dwarves with nothing better to do than to cause trouble and climb their Qunari lovers like mountains. Antagonistic towards Solas, probably the whole time, for maximum mayhem. Will be a royal pain in the ass to Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain, though, too, so it's not exclusive to Fen'Harel. Just a jackass in general. Very red-Hawke coded. Short fuse and huge temper. Varric sees him as useful but volatile and definitely didn't want him to be the one to confront Solas. Valos is disgustingly saccharine with Taash in private though; lovey-dovey doe eyes, the works. If anyone ever found out he would actually jump off of a cliff head first. Idk, he's just my chaotic little guy. It will probably be a disaster tbh lol—especially once he meets Malika, who is very similar.

Sola's Anniversary gift to Padme and Anakin.

Anakin and Padme Star Wars fanfic AU

"Padme, Anakin meet me in the living room for a moment", Sola quietly called to the young couple as they emerged from Padme's childhood room where two rambunctious toddlers finally slept. 

The Skywalkers were spending a weekend with Padme's family and that evening was their last before returning to Varykino. 

"Um, sure", Padme said.  

She and Anakin exchanged confused glances before following the eldest Naberrie sibling.

A fire still crackled softly in a hearth from over an hour ago when the whole family was  up having a cordial discussion.

Only small flames burned in a bed of embers as Sola flicked on a small light in the corner while carrying two bags. 

She sat across from her sister and brother - in law as the pair continued to watch her curiously and seated themselves on the sofa opposite Sola.

"What is going on? Padme asked. 

She interlaced her fingers with Anakin's and wrapped her other arm affectionately around his.  

"Now is a weird time to give us a present", Anakin commented, gesturing towards the items Sola had.  

A mischievous nature seemed to govern the  woman and she grinned, causing Anakin and Padme to stare at one another bewildered once more.

" I missed your 5 year wedding anniversary a few weeks ago because Darred and I had to go to Pooja's school about a project she did", Sola explained. 

"Then Ryoo had stomach poisoning from something she ate at school and had to be picked up early.

We were swamped with parenting. You know how it is with those adorable rascals of yours". 

The angelic faces of their son and daughter filled Anakin and Padme's minds and they smiled.

"Anyway," Sola continued, "I  bought you  a present to mark the occasion of your anniversary and to say sorry I missed it".

"Sola, you did not have to", Padme said.

"Anakin and I just spent the day with Luke and Leia  and had a pleasant dinner alone when mom came to watch Luke and Leia for us".

"Nonsense", Sola countered. She rose with a bag in each hand and dropped one on Anakin and Padme's lap. 

"You are my sister Padme  and you are a part of this family Anakin. I wanted to do something nice and besides, I think you two will really appreciate  these gifts. They complete a theme and so, keep that in mind when you open them".

Padme flashed her sister a questioning look, straightening her posture before she put her hand in the  bag. 

Anakin's mouth watered instantly at the cherry red and black lace lingerie set in his wife's hands. He raked his hungry gaze over the lace cups and thin lace panties.  Suddenly his sleep pants felt a little too snug for his tall frame and he shifted beside Padme all the while imagining how intoxicatingly beautiful she would look wearing the enticing piece.

"We like it thank you", he stated without another moment's hesitation. 

Padme however, flicked incredulous eyes toward Sola, who merely beamed, smug. 

The corset and panties were definitely tantalizing  and Padme wasn't surprised Anakin quickly approved.  She just remained shocked that her sister actually bought her something so sensual for private occasions between a married couple.

"Open yours ", Sola told the Jedi, ignoring her sister's reaction.

A thick ancient -looking book with a decorative print laid in Anakin's hold.  A silk red ribbon was tucked inside as the page holder. 

"Did you rob the Jedi Temple for this" he joked. He had not read the title yet and  only examined the book's appearance. 

But Padme leaned over to peek at what was written on the cover and Anakin, seeing her, followed suit. He and Padme sucked in a collective breath. 

Their jaws nearly touched the floor when  Anakin began turning a few random pages and a deep crimson hue colored their cheeks.

Sola's smile only grew as she registered the myriad of emotions displayed on their faces: shock, intrigue, curiosity and the ones she knew would eventually come, desire and anticipation.

When their gazes trailed up and down one another in a "particular manner", Sola knew  that she won them over and they were already considering putting the present to later use. 

As if she had been shaken out of a trance, Padme blinked and returned her attention to her sister.

" What on earth possessed you to give us something like this"? she asked.

" You don't like it?"

" Well no, I didn't say that", Padme assured. 

"I….."

Her mind drifted to one of the pages she and Anakin looked over and she immediately visualized herself with him in that same illustration. Her core ached in agonizing arousal and  her grip on Anakin's thigh tightened. 

He chuckled softly and regarded her again. 

He knew what she was thinking and he lightly squeezed her hand  before he resumed where he was in the book.

Where Sola was concerned though, Padme  hoped her body didn't betray her thoughts. But the smirk on Sola's face confirmed she knew too. 

Padme sighed. 

" I am concerned our children will find this",

she finally managed to get out.

"Hide it", was Sola's reply. 

"Darred and I conceal ours and Ryoo and Pooja have never found it". 

"Our children have high Force sensitivity because of their father", Padme tried to reason. 

"And that is on top of them already being twins and 2 years old.  Leia and Luke get into everything. 

Anakin has to keep finding new places to hide his lightsaber because they somehow always find it and if they accidentally ignite it….." 

"So you are saying, you don't want it", Sola said. 

"No", I just...don't know how to keep our children from finding it."

-"We will find a place for it", Anakin interjected. Padme was surprised he drew  his focus away from Sola's gift. 

"I promise we will find a spot my angel and our two little twin terrors will not find it", he insisted but Padme glared at him, unconvinced.

He drew closer to her and huskily whispered in her ear,"I know you want to keep this." Anakin snuck a swift sweep of his tongue behind her ear and kissed her pulse point. Padme mewled in response and Anakin beamed.

The Naboo senator chewed on her bottom lip hesitantly while casting another look down at the book. 

There was so much she and Anakin could do together. Deep down she knew parting with the book was simply out of the question. 

Padme finally nodded and buried her face in Anakin's shoulder as if  too shy to face her sister. 

Sola, witnessing the amusing and sweet interaction, cleared her throat.

"So is that a yes", she asked and Anakin answered for himself and Padme.

"Excellent". 

Sola rose and embraced Padme and Anakin.

"Happy Anniversary", she congratulated  again and smiled.

"I will see you both in the morning. Have a good night".

Padme's sister ambled up the stairs to the bedroom where her husband and two daughters awaited her. 

"That was awfully nice of your sister", Anakin said after a few moments of silence. 

"Yes, it was", Padme admitted.

She pulled away to refold the clothing and placed it back in her gift bag. Padme reached for the book and promptly put it with the lingerie set as well. 

"Might as well put these away before my mother or father wakes up and sees them", she advised.

Anakin looked at her perplexed.

"We are adults and married with children", he said, " I am sure they can understand now since they are married themselves."

Padme just shook her head.

" I know my love but the thought of my parents finding those in my possession, embarrasses me. And father might look at you with murder in his eyes  should he think you will do any of what is in that book with me, " she pointedly added.

Anakin stared at her, seeming to remain confused.

"It's an overprotective father thing, something you will probably feel too when Leia is older.."

Anakin understood now and didn't want to think about all the boys he would likely strangle just for ogling at his little princess. 

But Padme gave him little time to dwell further on the future when she crashed her  lips on his.  

"Ani", she whispered and snuggled closer to him. 

Anakin heard the sultry tone in her voice and shuddered when he felt her hand slide underneath his nightshirt and  she  caressed his toned, muscled chest.

"YY-es, angel".

Padme curled her lips into a seductive smile. "You can most certainly recreate many of those illustrations with me when we are alone in our home".

Anakin matched her smile  and cupped Padme's chin underneath his hand.

" As milady wishes" he answered and claimed her mouth once again. 

The couple knew they were in for a treat and  they knew their  twins may find themselves with a new sibling  soon.

Something Sentence Sunday

Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY! It’s been a dreary Sunday here where I live, and it’s made me...drowsy. But! Sometimes dreary weather is perfect for cozy writing or playing video games! X3 And writing is what I’m planning to do here a bit! Got a few ideas, but I thought I’d share something from a while ago that I fleshed out! :D

Remember how I mentioned that Fane’s been more snarky lately? He gets worse after sex. Seriously.

“Would you be willing to entertain a question that I have?”, he asked, still keeping his voice level, calm. Solas wasn’t exactly nervous about inquiring about this topic, but he would be lying to himself if he said he wasn’t worried about how Fane could potentially react. Such topics as this were sensitive to a being who didn’t precisely know which side of themselves they resonated with more.

Fane let out an amused huff, a tiny smirk pulling at one corner of his lips, “They should be calling you ‘Inquisitor’, not me,” he said. A joke, Solas knew, but he couldn’t help but roll his eyes and shake his head in fond exasperation. 

“Inquisitiveness is not the sole factor of being the Inquisitor, ma’isenatha. I thought that would have been obvious by now. Furthermore, I am hardly eager for another title or qualified for it,” Solas retorted, carding his fingers through Fane’s bangs and smiling softly when a cool, but pleased sigh exited his nostrils. It was the small things that brought out the hidden sides…

“Yet, I’m qualified?” Fane inquired before snorting, lifting a hand to wave it back and forth in a lazy fashion, “You know what? Nevermind. In this world, that makes complete sense. It still kills me that the faithful see me, a dragon, as a figure of divinity. Imagine the day when they find out. That’ll be a riot. Tevinter might even huff out a laugh while the Chantry’s having an aneurysm.”

The fact that he’s a dragon and the faithful practically revere him will always make Fane equal parts disgusted and amused. Amused because he just envisions the heads of the Chantry just fucking losing their minds when they find out.

 “The Herald of Andraste was a dragon?! The people chose a dragon over us?! *promptly faints and/or disintegrates*’ 

Fane just sits in the Crossroads, watching through an eluvian like, ‘Ah, there it is. *sips his tea*’

Amihan barely remembered anything from her life before the Circle, only that she was given away by her mother for being a “monster”. Emotionally volatile and ill-adjusted, she snitches of Jowan out of jealousy as she had a crush on Lily. Luckily, Duncan is there is conscript her.

No need to worry about the wait! Lord knows we've both seen me struggle to answer promptly 😅 It's only fair

From how i've heard other people describe it, Welsh accents sound very hilly, they go up and down a lot. Solas's VA is also Welsh, so he can also be a good point of reference (but i have no idea if it's a northern or southern accent which i think is supposed to make a big difference, and Merrill's is definitely easier to hear)

When Ilanlas starts getting to the point of suggesting the Maker was really the Dread Wolf, it is going to take everything in Novhen to not look at Astala and eyebrow waggle because wouldn't THAT solve so many problems for them (althought it sounds like she's maybe not having so great a time lol). His good humor wouldn't last for too long though because 1) Novhen does have major issues with the Maker and the Chantry and 2) Ilanlas is definitely losing the plot a little bit

When Astala reminds Ilanlas that Andraste first freed elven slaves, Novhen's going to tease Ilanlas about if he's subtly approving of the Dread Wolf then? What would his Keeper say? Conveniently brushing aside all of his more valid points about the Maker's role in elvenkind's downfall for the saking of messing with him. Besides, the alleged Maker had disappeared by then. That was all humans using the name of the Maker as a free pass to so whatever they want

Now that i am considering it in relative earnest, Novhen feigning death when Cassandra shows up is just the funniest mental image XDXDXDXD eSPECIALLY if everyone else is catching on and playing along! Leliana's in the background, and she recognizes this trick but is also playing along which is probably the most compelling evidence that this is legit XD His heart was torn open by the archdemon, Cassandra! Of course it's weak!

As soon as the coast is clear, he's falling into laughter and ruffling the hair of whoever wept on his chest. Great acting, everyone! Anyway, we should probably talk about what just happened. It's a pretty important develpoment.

Cassandra is going to be so pissed when she finds out XD Sorry, Cass, turns out he just fainted, and everyone else got caught up in the emotions of it all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Lavellan is so confused)

I don't think Novhen would be keen on bringing fresh vinegar to pickle with, but there will definitely be pickled foods among their rations whose jars he can shuffle around to reuse and make room. He doesn't want to bring an extra unless catching a cave fish is a sure thing. Fish is a bit more work to pickle than vegetables, but with a mage and clever resource use, he can make it work! (Pickling is a very slow background process anyway, so it's just as well that it's mainly going to be found at the start of the journey.) A mix of grilled and pickled fish will probably be the way to go

The secret Theodosian dish no one talks about: Deep Roads Delight! It's roasted cave fish and deep mushrooms, and it's awful!

Novhen's going to be minorly looking forward to trying the pickled cave fish. Whatever it takes to motivate him to keep pushing through these caves. His verdict: "Not as good as herring."

And I love that for Khêd lol. It's not that he's morally opposed to fighting in any significant capacity. It's that it's such a chore XD

And also picture Novhen, lounging, wearing Zevran's shirt: "You know, Zev, when I argued all those years ago to let you live, I just knew you'd end up being useful for something."

Also, i've had the thought: After they discover and take the Cure, it's going to be curious to see what will heal immediately, what will return to healthy gradually, and what will stop progressing but forever be damaged. Specifically, the silver eyes. It'd be fun if those were a gradual change even though they almost instantaneously turned silver when they first underwent their Joinings. I'm imagining for one reason or another Novhen and Ilanlas don't see each other for a while shortly after taking the Cure and then

Novhen: Something's different about Ilanlas, but I can't put my finger on what…

Astala: It's his eyes.

Novhen: Hm?

Astala: They aren't silver anymore. You two both took the Cure, remember?

Novhen: His eyes were still silver the day after.

Astala: So were yours, and now they're brown. It took a few days for the color to come back.

Novhen: And nobody told me???

(Meanwhile, Ilanlas is squinting at Novhen from the bushes and trying to remember if his eyes were always that color because Novhen was already Joined when they met)

Novhen is going to be checking in on this little operation to keep tabs (hehe) on the local Agents of Fen'Harel, and his little religious crisis is all the more reason to! As a benefit, staying up to date like that makes it easier to get an opinion out of him if they ever choose to ask him instead of one of the other adults for his thoughts on the lastest movements by the Agents. (Btw he is still leaning in favor of the Cult because it's what he grew up with and because the Chantry and the Dalish stand to gain in different ways from continuing to demonize the Dread Wolf, so they shouldn't be trusted much)

Oh! and on the topic of the residents of Vigil's Keep interacting with the kids, I bet Pavle is having such a rough time of it XD It's not that he's anti-mischief. He can be down for a good bout of mischief. But why's it got to be aimed at him >:( Not cool. He's probably going in with some favoritism towards the mages which is not helped by Carlos and Virel's troublemaking ways. (They can't help it if he makes such a funny face when he's surprised!) Perinella can stay, but she's on thin ice. Kieran is probably his favorite just because, like you've assessed, he's very polite. Pavle wants someone to talk at more than someone to talk to. One of his parents is going to eventually pull him aside and remind him that he's allowed to leave the conversation if he wants, but then he'll reveal that he thinks that Pavle is actually pretty interesting at times. Baffling behavior from the former host of an ancient god/dragon

Somewhere distant, a few years ago, Novhen and Anders were definitely avoiding eye contact with each other, so one of them wouldn't rat the other out to Weisshaupt XD XD

From my understanding, -el and -le are diminutive endings in Yiddish too for a bonus point! Also, Eida and Eidel are both recognized variations of the name Adinah according to chabad.org! (which is a good source for Hasidic and some general Jewish customs and also available in Spanish and German)

I remember you liking the Denerim Alienage getting a Brooklyn accent, but i don't know how much you want to apply that to Astala. I've got some features in my own accent (namely, strong rhoticism and especially the caught-cot merger) which are making it hard for me to say Tolris organically or even judge how easy it'd be to say in a Brooklyn accent (which lacks those two features). Sorry 😔 Let's just say Astala can say it easy peasy!

UPDATE: Managed to unlock something like a New Jersey or Italian New Yorker accent which is close enough and think i was able to say it 👍Tolris lives on!

Also, Astala and Zevran's nicknames are all so so so cute! I love when people have a million names that are all entirely situational. I don't know much Italian or Ladino, but I do have a passing familiarity with Spanish! I feel like i've seen "-iño" before in the context of Spanish and have definitely heard "-ito"

And oof it's easy to forget how much variation there is within languages prior to standardization. Even gray as it still is today, the line between language and dialect used to be so much grayer. For all we know our Italian and Spanish are both fully Antivan with a whole spectrum in-between too and only considered the same language because they are within the same borders. They're decently mutually intelligible iirc. Maybe closer to Tevinter it becomes more Italian, and closer to Rivain it becomes more Spanish? Let's just hope whichever one he ends up learning at least lets him speak easily with his family. That's the main goal 😔

The whole family should be invited! This is a big event! Other than that, hopefully they can try to keep it as small as possible 😅 Birth is no small amount of stress for anyone but especially the carrying party

The expression is on point XD XD XD The Plum of Peace should be a Feastday gift. And it’s very good to see reference for Radka, Pavle and Mr Andras (Who looks so kind!!!!!) Y’all know how the first dragon battle and victory triggers that cutscene with Bull in DA:I, I think every time you slay a dragon in that game you should get different drunken celebration cut scenes, mostly with Bull but also with other characters like whoever was with you. Maybe Krem would join in, (and it’s be a moment in the game where you can flirt with him.

Maybe the cutscene starts out as Bull and the Inquisitor drinking but then if you’re not romancing Bull your partner shows up and drags your drunken ass off to bed with a funny line to Bull about how messy of drunks y’all are or something funny. Drunk flirting with your LI.

(Asking for Cullen to get naked and him getting flustered, bratting with Solas and him being firm but loving and Exasperated but endeared, Jossie blushing at something super sweet and sappy a drunk inquisitor says, Blackwall just chuckling at you completely smitten, Sera yelling at Bull for getting her Shiny all drunk and then the inquisitor whispers something naughty in her ear and sera just cackles and drags you off. If your romancing Dorian he gets just as drunk and is the one whispering naughty things to you as you both fall asleep at the bar. Cassandra’s disgruntled noise until you say something super romantic and nonchalant causing her to blush so much that drunk Bull points it out out of concern.)

Maybe if Dorian and Bull’s romance has triggered Dorian drinks with you and they get all sappy and cute (or horny lol)

If you’re romancing Bull maybe on of the cut scenes is just him tackling you on the battle field with a fade to black scene and whoever is in Your party making grossed out or annoyed or humorous quips. I imagine Varric saying something like “I’m not putting this in the book” and Sera making loud gross noises, maybe narrating it, Cassandra’s disgruntled noise, Vivienne Greatly disapproves, Cole Narrating your thoughts before the other person in the party shuts him up, Solas just saying “Really? On the battlefield? Can neither of you wait?” And Bull being like join in or leave.

Alternatively if Dorians in the Party and the romance has triggered it happens to Dorian and you can make a comment about it before running away as to not watch them fuck.

This would be a cute fanfic idea. Ten chapters for ten optional dragon battles lol. (Ohh and Male Inquisitor x Dorian X Iron Bull would be *chef’s kiss*)

maria hawke - her name is marian but her dad calls her maria bc i hc he had antivan parents. she’s a humorous hawke in the beginning but slowly becomes more and more aggressive. after carver died, she lost her bestie and that rlly beat her up, but she kept hiding how she felt with jokes and a smile. then bethany died in the deep roads which was her fault, and throughout the years it took her a while to get over her grief and be herself again. then mama hawke died, and she was tired of pretending. after the fight with the arishok, she is completely different - no more jokes and smiles. a shadow of who the champion used to be

danavas lavellan - i have so much to say on her i’m going to simplify it as much as possible 😭 a former crow with daddy issues. she found clan lavellan five years before the conclave happened and also found out she was a mage with them as well. she’s not the best mage but give her daggers and poison and she will deliver (sadly u cant do that in da:i ☹️). she knows how to read people, is an excellent spy, uses sex to get what she wants and also tends to be humorous but in a i’m-laughing-at-u-not-with-u kinda way. in the beginning the idea of being a prophet has her a bit conceited and she loves the attention, but after cory comes in she humbles herself and thinks on her want for power and greed. still, she is an amazing info gatherer, uses death as little as possible despite her background, and studies studies everything in her free time. or plays wicked grace with varric and throws pies at people with sera. she also had her right foot smashed in accident so she uses her staff as a cane, and has her own special one she uses in skyhold that can be popped in half to reveal a dagger and short staff. but being herald did change and humanize her even more than clan lavellan did, and she is a better person after all these events.

How did she feel about the entire mage-Templar conflict? What about the Qunari conflict? How did she deal with the events of Legacy, considering how family-orientated that entire thing was? If she could go back and save only one family member, who would it be?

Danavas sounds really interesting! How did she react to finding out that she had latent magical powers? How does her Skyhold cane look like (also, it sounds hella cool!)? Was she able to keep clan Lavellan alive? Besides Varric and Sera, does she get along with any others? What is her reaction to Solas' plan? How did she end up becoming a Crow?

Omg I think it’s based around taste tbqh!  I’m not the best to ask because I tend to shrug off >:( personalities bc there’s usually a reason behind it - usually tragedy lol

I personally like him bc big/handsome, but also like deeply tragic and nuanced with his emotions and is just garbage at expressing them outwardly lol so seeing him as clumsy and hopeless under professionalism is part of the charm. Also they’re super sweet and even a little humorous under the iciness, they just gotta warm up to you which is cute bc they fumble awkwardly while loving intensely which is 👌

So idk if you’ve tried their route, but it’s worth it to see their mindset.

And bc it’s a fun pattern to notice, Adam/Ava is one of the ‘go-to’ romance in fiction where they’re either a leader of sorts and/or the first person you meet to introduce you to a situation + ANGST. Think of Alistair-Morrigan, Anders, Cullen-Solas-Cassandra, Kaidan-Ashley, Ortega, etc when it comes to that sort of character. Popular but usually Controversial to someone.

Why do they care about each other? They begin with mutual admiration, then trust, then a sort of faith in each other's abilities that quickly turns allies into friends and finally lovers. She is disarming and clever and brave and (despite her own opinion of herself) very wise. He is compassionate and intelligent and world-weary, with a weight of guilt about him that Eirwen recognizes in herself.

Why should your reader care about them? They have a mature, reasonable, yet still complex relationship built on mutual respect and admiration and also have very good sex.

How do their friends feel about their relationship? Adaar, Dagna, and Cole (probably the people closest to them in Skyhold) are all supportive. Adaar is very happy for them and Cole likes how happy they make each other.

How do their families feel? Morrigan is the closest thing Eir has to family and she is not a fan of Solas. She didn't like Alistair either, though. I honestly don't know that she'd like any romance option for Eir because she is the sibling that immediately dislikes any of her sister's dates because 'men are stupid' and so is any woman Eirwen would be interesting in. If Eirwen's parents were alive they would definitely think Solas is too old for her (correct!) but otherwise find him neat.

What do they dislike about each other? Solas is absolutely baffled by how often Eirwen puts herself in serious danger and generally acts with little regard for her wellbeing. 'You throw yourself into battle like it's a duty', or something. She is frustrated by his tendency to be patronizing and to pick fights with Morrigan.

What do they argue about? Wardens, Solas being racist/out of touch/condescending, Eirwen making bad life decisions

How do they sleep when they're together? She CLINGS in their sleep and just puts most of her weight on him. He is so touch-starved that he usually just lets her unless she's cutting off his circulation.

Do they steal each others clothes? Not really, but I could see them doing it. If she had a particularly nice hat or something that she wasn't using I could see him taking it if he needed extra warmth. She'd definitely put on his shirt or something just to turn him on (which would work, because he's a pervert).

What petty opinions do they not agree on? Solas wants like six tablespoons of sugar in his coffee as well as creamer and Eirwen thinks it's fucking disgusting even though she has a sweet tooth, too. He also definitely likes red velvet cake and she thinks it's dumb. They agree that cream cheese frosting is incredible. Solas isn't into the concept of keeping an animal as a pet (he likes animals, just not pets) but Eirwen would definitely keep a shit ton of rescue critters if she could. She LOVES birds and would never remove a nest no matter how inconvenient, but the second one shits on his head he'd move it himself.

Why did they choose each other? Mutual respect, admiration, and intense physical attraction. She loves his arms and he loves her... everything (but definitely her breasts and butt, although he would never say that to anyone except her). Like if he were at the Hanged Man and Varric or Bull tried to push him on talking about sex with her he would not elaborate beyond it being good and happening often, and even that would be cloaked in implication. Even with a decent amount of alcohol he wouldn't say more than that she's beautiful. She, meanwhile, would immediately tell Sera he has a huge dick and is extremely good at oral, which would probably make Sera physically ill.

What is their biggest problem? She's dying and he's himself.

How do their jobs/education affect their relationship? lol. This would take a really long time to answer in full but it's hopefully clear in the story. He thinks it sucks that she's a Warden and that she had to go through the abuse of the Circle but knows she'd be a very different person otherwise. She's doing her best to parse through him being Fen'Harel because her frame of reference for elven culture is minimal. As members of the Inquisition, it brought them together and means she has her own quarters for them to bone in.

Do they share the same music taste? They would both definitely love a good fiddle.

Why did they meet? She was dying (a theme) and he rescued her and healed her. Interestingly, this was almost immediately after Wisdom died.

What are their opinions on marriage? Eirwen thinks it's dumb and Solas is indifferent because I imagine marriage was probably weird in elvhenan. But they'd do something informal to express their intentions of being together for a very long time. And Eirwen would be into the tax benefits.

What are their opinions on children? Neither of them has any interest in children of their own but they're both neutral on kids as a concept. I think Eirwen probably sees them more as tiny adults, though.

Is their relationship healthy? Why/why not? Yes. They are open with each other and clear about their wants/needs, or at least as much as possible given plot circumstances.

How do their past relationships affect them? I get the sense that Solas has a probably-unhealthy tendency to (lowkey?) worship those he loves. He probably had very few serious relationships, but I imagine each was monumental for him at the time. He feels very deeply and passionately and any losses he's been through make him want to protect her, which he cannot do. She is constantly reminded of Alistair, of how deeply she loved him and how thoroughly she believes she failed him. She tried for a long time not to get seriously attached to anyone else as a result. With Solas, she is trying to let go of that tendency to keep everyone at a distance.

Do they love each other, or are they in love? Both. He loved her before he was in love with her, but I think both happened for her at the same time.

Why should your readers root for them? They are essentially good people trying their best.

Do they both put an equal amount of effort into the relationship? I think Solas puts in a little more. He worships her, to some extent.

Who do they turn to when their relationship has problems? Themselves. They talk to each other unless it's something REALLY wild and plot-related that requires some inner calculations first.

Who does the most mundane household tasks? Solas in the evening, Eirwen in the morning.

What do they do when the other is mad? Eirwen uses humor to distract him, and if that doesn't work just lets him rant until he tires himself out. She doesn't get angry very often, so I don't know if Solas would have an immediate solution or reaction to her anger, which would lead him to be overly-logical and probably piss her off more. Then he'd feel really fucking bad and let her get it all out before doing whatever he could to make things better. Alternatively, they'd agree on whatever is pissing them off and just rant together and get all shitty until nobody else can stand to be around them. Then they'd fuck.

How do their flaws clash? She's too reckless for him and though he believes she'll be okay there's still a voice in his head that's like 'but what if she's not?' She thinks he's overreacting.

Why do you enjoy writing them? They both have such rich personal histories with fun parallels. They are equals, despite him being who he is, and see each other as such. She asserts her position as his equal in power and intelligence and refuses to let him doubt her capabilities, even in the interest of her own protection. Her wit and confidence ground him. They both need certainty and reassurance that they are more than what others see them as. They make each other feel whole.

What small quirks do they like about each other? From early on she's admired how gentle he can be with his hands even when he's upset. He loves how easily distracted she is by birds and flowers and miscellaneous wildlife and finds her infodumps about various critters extremely endearing.

What would a stranger think if they saw them out together? "Fucking apostates." Or, alternatively: "...Is that the Hero of Ferelden?"

How do they show the other that they love them? Physical affection and 'acts of service' or whatever. Doing little favors for each other and noticing the other's needs before they voice them.

What made them fall in love? Eirwen first felt a hint of something for him when she saw him helping the Vilbirn survivors. He first felt something when she turned into a fucking dragon. Over time, though, it was the slow realization that the other person genuinely cared for them and respected their abilities and experiences that made them truly fall in love.

What do they give as gifts? Food, because they both forget to eat. But also little love notes.
