I suppose it has something to do with humans assigning our own silly human ideals and morals onto animals! If it has no use, it doesn’t matter, I guess. Even if the ocean sunfish is an important animal that controls populations of other prey animals like squid and jellyfish and is a host to dozens of species of parasites that depend on it for survival and also bring nutrients from the lower levels of the ocean to the higher levels for producers to use… so how could it ever be useless and undeserving of living….. In any case, these animals are still alive and thriving, millions of years of evolution has lead them to that point, clearly they’re doing things correct? Why is it now suddenly that they shouldn’t exist?

how many times do we have to say that nobody gets to "decide" what species of animal "deserves" to exist because it's frankly very pretentious to act like you're the arbiter of what evolution has created
