soobin noticed the way kai looked at you — the lingering glances, the quick smiles. at first, he brushed it off. he’s just being nice and i’m probably overthinking this, he told himself. but the way your name lit up in conversations, how his tone softened when he spoke to you… soobin couldn’t ignore it anymore.

one evening, as the two of you were cuddled on the couch, soobin hesitated before speaking. “i need to ask you something,” he said, his voice quieter than usual.

you sat up slightly, concern written across your face as you turned your attention to him instead of the tv. “what is it?”

he fidgeted with the edge of his sleeve. “do you think… do you think he likes you?”

you blinked, caught off guard. “what? who?”

soobin’s lips pressed into a thin line. “one of the guys. i don’t want to name names to make you uncomfortable, but… i can’t help but feel like he has feelings for you.”

your heart softened at the hesitance in his tone, not really caring about which member felt that way since you viewed them all as friends. “soobin, you’re the only one i care about. even if someone else felt that way, it really doesn’t matter to me.”

though your words reassured him, soobin couldn’t shake off his protective instincts, wanting some clarity. later that night, he approached the member in question. “i need to talk to you,” he said, his usual gentle demeanor replaced by quiet firmness, knowing despite everything, he could be open with kai and resolve the issue calmly.

when the truth came out — that kai indeed had a little crush on you — soobin let out a shaky sigh. “i can’t control how you feel, but i need you to respect what we have,” he said. “she’s important to me, and i won’t let anything come between us.”

yeonjun was confident in your relationship and trusted both you and his members fully, but even he couldn’t ignore the tension growing whenever you and beomgyu were in the same room. at first, yeonjun chalked it up to friendship. but the way beomgyu seemed to light up around you, the lingering stares… it started to gnaw at him.

one evening, after a group dinner, yeonjun casually threw his arm around your shoulder as the two of you walked home. “so,” he started, his tone light but laced with curiosity, yet wanting to get to the bottom of the situation. “do you ever notice how beomgyu acts around you sometimes?”

you tilted your head, confused at the unusual question. “what do you mean, jun?”

yeonjun chuckled, though his eyes betrayed a flicker of unease. “you don’t think he’s… interested in you or anything, right?”

you laughed softly at his words, shaking your head. “ah, is that what you think? i don’t know, even if he were, it wouldn’t change how i feel about you.”

yeonjun’s confidence returned, satisfied with the reassurance and he pressed a kiss to your hair. “good,” he said. but a few days later when he found himself alone with beomgyu, he couldn’t help but bring up the topic.

“hey,” yeonjun began, leaning casually against the doorframe of the practice room and fidgeting with his bottled water while beomgyu scrolled on his phone. “i want to ask you something, and i need you to be honest, yeah?”

when beomgyu admitted his feelings after some poking and uneasy hesitance, yeonjun’s expression softened slightly. “look, i get it. she’s amazing,” he said. “but she’s with me. i don’t want this to mess up our friendship — or the group. just… be careful, okay?”

beom ❣ gyu

beomgyu noticed the way soobin seemed to seek you out in conversations, laughing a little too hard at your jokes, and lingering in your presence. at first, he found it funny. “well, at least he’s got good taste,” he joked to himself. but the more he noticed it, the more it started to bother him despite his endless trust in you and his leader.

one morning, as you cooked breakfast after staying the night at the dorms with him, beomgyu blurted out when nobody was around, “do you think soobin has a crush on you?”

you blinked in surprise, glancing back at him owlishly with a spatula in hand. “what? no way! why would you think that?”

beomgyu leaned back on the stool, crossing his arms with a slight frown. “because i see the way he looks at you. i mean, i don’t blame him — you’re amazing — but it’s starting to get on my nerves a little.”

you put the spatula down and reached for his hand over the counter, squeezing it gently. “beomgyu, i’m with you. that’s all that matters, and i wouldn’t change it for anything. but also, he cares about you a lot no matter whatever his feelings are, so don’t let it get to you.”

he smiled and nodded, though the worry lingered despite your words making sense and he left the topic alone for the rest of the week. but one day when he caught soobin staring at you from across the room unblinkingly while you played a game with yeonjun, beomgyu couldn’t resist teasing the member in question. “hey,” he said, throwing an arm around soobin’s shoulder. “you’ve got good taste, but you know she’s mine, right?”

when soobin froze and stammered an apology, his ears red, beomgyu chuckled but then grew serious. “i’m not mad,” he said. “but i love her, and as my leader and friend, i need to know you’ll respect that.”

tae ❣ hyun

taehyun was perceptive — too perceptive for his own good. he noticed the smallest details, like how yeonjun seemed to look at your reaction to his jokes and antics or the way his teasing demeanor changed around you. taehyun didn’t say anything at first, but it was clear he was keeping a close eye on the situation.

while you and him were on a quiet walk one night as he took you home, he couldn’t help but breach the topic. “hey, i want to ask you something,” he said, glancing down at you.

“what is it, tae?” you replied, concerned by the serious look in his eyes despite his mask covering most of his face, your hand in his.

“do you think yeonjun likes you?” he asked bluntly, not beating around the bush.

you stared at him in shock for a few moments, before shaking your head. “taehyun, no. why would you think that?”

“because i see the way he acts around you sometimes,” taehyun said, his voice calm but firm. “i’m not jealous or anything — i just don’t want there to be any misunderstandings.”

you stopped walking and turned to face him, grasping both of his hands and smiling softly underneath your mask. “you don’t have to worry about anything, i only care about you.”

relieved at your words but still cautious since it was an itch he couldn’t forget, taehyun approached the topic when he got home that night and bumped into yeonjun directly. “i know how you feel,” he said, his tone respectful but unwavering as he spoke bluntly without thinking. “but i need you to back off. she’s with me, and i won’t let anything come between us.”

huening kai was usually easygoing, but he couldn’t ignore the way taehyun seemed to have a tendency to drift toward you, taking closer seats whenever you were at the dorms or trying to prolong conversations with you. at first, kai tried to brush it off as his own imagination, but as time went on, it became harder to ignore.

“kai, are you okay?” you asked one evening, noticing his unusually quiet demeanor while you were helping him fold some of his clothes in his messy room.

he hesitated mid-fold before blurting out, “do you think taehyun has a little crush on you?”

your eyes widened as you nearly dropped the shirt in surprise, finding it hard to believe since the chatty guy usually came off as friendly. “what? no, i don’t think so, at least. why would you say that?”

kai shrugged, fidgeting nervously. “it’s just… i’ve noticed the way he acts around you. i don’t know — maybe i’m just overthinking it.”

you walked to kai and sat him down, placing a reassuring hand on his thigh. “you have nothing to worry about, whether it’s true or not. i’m with you, and taehyun adores you too much to hurt you, so that’s all that matters.”

though your words comforted him, kai later found himself pulling taehyun aside before practice the next day. “hey,” he said softly but seriously, taehyun equally as owlish. “i don’t want there to be any weird tension between us, but i can’t ignore what i’ve noticed. she’s my girlfriend, and i need to know you’ll respect that.”

taehyun immediately apologized and reassured him that it was superficial and he just found you interesting, kai smiled gently. “it’s okay. i just… i love her, and i don’t want anything to mess that up.”

we all know kai would be the cutest boyfriend ever but like times whatever you see by 100 now

I know we all call him an angel and as a matter a fact he is, everyone you have ever introduced him too now remembers him as (y/n)’s boyfriend who is “such an angel”

can you hear the birds chirping and angels singing? no? just me..?

absolutely loves LOVESSS cuddling and just affection in general

a man of acts of service and physical touch

will not hesitate to give you his jacket if you as so much as shiver from goosebumps all over you

"It's so co-" you could barely get the rest of the words out as you were suddenly engulfed in your boyfriend's jacket

in other cases, he'll even wrap his arms around you just for extra warmth

likes to update you on his day by sending selfies here and there to let you know what he's up to

this is also his little way of indirectly letting you know he's thinking of and misses you

will let you put cute stickers on his face and pretty clips in his hair

"I'm gonna miss you so much." he says softly in a sad tone as you gently rub his back whilst he spoke to his penguin plushie first

slight jab at first when you realise he wasn't talking to you but you also found it so cute knowing there was no ill intent

"I will be right here taking care of them while you're on tour hyuka, don't worry." you reassure him with a warm smile

you were ofcourse referring to his vast collection of plushies which he couldn't leave with

but this also started a tradition where kai would get you a cute plushie at every stop whenever he was touring and so now you have your own growing collection from all over the world

he enjoys doing little domestic stuff with you especially in the kitchen

"Okay I'm gonna need another two teaspoons of the butter cream please." you instruct as he scurries around to do as told as you both were currently baking some cookies for your rainy day in

you both also bonded over gaming together

be it you were a pro or not you just couldn't figure out if kai was just letting you win or he was just... really bad at playing

"YEAHHH AND THAT'S ANOTHER WIN!!" you yell out victoriously as you did a victory dance with the controller in one hand before sticking out your tongue at your boyfriend

kai on the other hand only watched you with nothing but adoration in his eyes as a small smile creeped onto his face

"Okay okay, best two of three? Loser has to kiss the winner!" he cheekily suggests starting the next round on the Nintendo before you could complain

would do anything for you just to see you smile, even if that means making a fool out of himself (sometimes it isn't on purpose but that's not the point)

hyuka just loves to see you smiling and that's enough for him :)

my soobie toobie woobie :( i feel like he would be the type to silently shoulder his emotions, sometimes even trying his hardest to convince himself that his feelings aren't real or that they didn't matter. he'd go and overanalyze every interaction, making sure he isn't overstepping any boundaries he made himself,,, around her, even with the others present, he'd be more reserved and shy, his usual easygoing demeanor replaced by nervous laughter, maybe even going as far as avoiding eye contact altogether or making up excuses to leave the room. he would also maintain a safe distance, actively making sure he's never put in the same room as her. in the end, he'll choose to simply suppress his emotions and feelings entirely, prioritizing the happiness of his dear friend and the peace of the group over his own </3

yeonjun .ᐟ

oh jjunie,,, at first, he'd be in denial; he'll try to convince and tell himself that it was just his fleeting thoughts, that his heart totally did not just do multiple flips after seeing one of his bestfriend's girlfriend smile of all people. but the more he dwells on that thought, the deeper his feelings become, until it's too much to ignore. yeonjun would find it hard to be his usual self around her, trying to play it cool, but in the end, he crumbles completely. as a deeply loyal friend, thinking of and having feelings towards his bestfriend's girlfriend would weigh heavily on him, and he might even try to overcompensate, showing excessive support for their relationship by saying things like, "you're so lucky to have her!" or "you guys are perfect for one another!" so he doesn't feel as awful (it doesn't work) :(((

beomgyu .ᐟ

an actual hopeless romantic :( it would most probably hit him the hardest once he actually realizes his feelings,, his first reaction would be disbelief; he would likely tell himself too that it was just a tiny crush, but the more he suppresses it, the more he'd find it impossible to ignore the pangs of longing and guilt that comes with it. he'd be more "silly" and hyper around her, a mask he puts up so his real feelings doesn't show, only to later regret it once he's alone with his thoughts. as a way to silently express his yearning, he would stay up late, using his talent as an escape, writing songs about her and pouring his emotions into music rather than towards her directly. ultimately, he would try to distance himself one way or another too, even if it left him quietly hurting </3

taehyun .ᐟ

my tyun :(( his level-headed nature would make him approach the situation with as much logic as possible, even though emotions are never entirely rational. he would keep his interactions with her polite but distant, avoiding anything that could be misinterpreted, but in private, taehyun would sit in his room with his headphones on, letting sad or introspective songs play as he processes his emotions. he wouldn’t cry easily, but the pain would show in subtle ways, like in the far-off stares he’d have while thinking about her. but then his pragmatic side would berate him, reminding himself that these feelings were unproductive and unfair, but the ache would linger, quietly gnawing at him. nevertheless, his respect for his bestfriend's relationship would outweigh any hurt he's feeling, letting his feelings fade overtime for everyone’s sake :(((

my sweet sweet hyuka </3 as someone who values the happiness of those he loves, he’d be overwhelmed with guilt the moment he realizes he has feelings for another member’s girlfriend. it would leave him confused and conflicted—he’d wonder how his heart could betray his loyalty to his bestfriend in such a way. kai would likely smile and joke around her like usual, but there would be a noticeable hesitation in his voice, and he might fumble with his words or avoid looking directly at her, as if afraid his feelings would be exposed. his kindhearted nature and empathy would push him towards a resolution: he’d choose to quietly let go of his feelings, no matter how much it hurt, finding solace in the fact that love also means wanting what’s best for others—even if it means stepping aside :(((

after taking a nice shower, hyuka loves to have you sit in his lap and watch him play games on his pc <3 you've known hyuka to not be that fond of physical affection, usually asking him if he wants to receive a kiss from you or not? he never tells your pretty eyes no, asking him where you want him to kiss you, his big eyes staring at you so so so fondly— but that's besides the point, right?

burying his face in your neck, your t-shirt— now loose around the neckline from how many times you've worn it— exposing your shoulder skin so nicely for hueningkai to kiss !!! oh my, how he loves feeling your fresh scent waft around him, dumbing him, numbing his fingers and clogging his senses <3 and he asks you so nicely, “can I kiss you?” and you nod, a hand going over to ruffle his hair up j right while he presses shy kisses to your skin, cheeks burning because of how intimate he feels. hueningkai, who only loves to savor your love alone, never in public or around people. hell, just the mere mention of his girlfriend around people has him scrambling to hide a blush !!!

but moments like this, where the only sounds audible are his soft whimpers and sleepy kisses being pressed to your skin, is when hyuka feels so safe. just obsessed with you around him, increasing heartbeat pressing to your back when he hears you speak, and feeling the shape of his nose in your neck <3

and you tug on his hair occasionally, telling him, “hyuka, your game?” and he mumbles an “oh,” pulling his lips off you and resting his chin on your shoulder as he plays— & the stupid boy loves it when you ask him if you could play too, and that watching him was getting so boring..... and he's all, woah!!! she's into the same interests as I am!!!

and then hyuka teaches you how to play, focused fingers and a (bigger) hand on yours on the mouse— he doesn't really care if you're losing or winning, but just the mere idea of you wanting to spend your time with him, you wanting to love him and you just being all of HIS— just had him all dumb for you, didn't you? and your face when you'd finally win a game, telling you you're his fav girl & if you kept this up, you'd even be better than him !!! and he loves watching the way you get all shy at his praise, hand reaching over to playfully punch his shoulder, telling him to “shut up,” and “you don't acc mean that, you're just saying that cuz u love me.”

and he doesn't know what to admit, if he actually means it, or if he loves you— and the truth may tend to steer towards the latter, but you didn't mind that. not when hyuka would blush when he'd have to admit it, telling you to “shut up,” and just play the game. and you'd mumble a soft "I love you,” with a giggle, turning around to continue playing with his grip (subtly turning softer because it's you) on your own. and because you had your back turned, you didn't see how off guard you caught your boyfriend, him pressing his lips together at the sudden confession, feeling the heat rise in the room.

and when the two of you would be so tired of the same repetitive game— he'd ask if you wanted to order food? and you'd smirk slyly, asking him if he wanted to play a small game...winner gets the loser's tempura? and he'd nod a yes with a giggle, a finger playing with the hem of your shirt mindlessly <3 and you'd continue to explain how he'd have to order in a normal voice on call while you'd pepper his skin, only if he wanted to. and you'd see him go so red in the face, shyly nodding because of how exciting it sounded. he's played games like this with you before, but nothing sounded as exhilarating as this.

and during the call, you didn't hold back— nibbling softly on his earlobe and a hand playing with his hair, watching from the corner of your eyes how he bit his tongue, trying to stay focused and respond to the restaurant with a stable voice. and he'd be so red & stupidly burying his giggles the way you were kissing him just so nice on his neck, almost stumbling on his words on the call.

and he'd glance at you triumphant when the call ended, successfully keeping a stable voice and asking you to kiss him cuz he won, it's not like you're gonna say no to those lips, right? and he'd giggle at your sulking expression while he ate his your tempura, sliding them over to you and watching the confusion turn into a soft smile, telling you he loved it when you scowled so pretty— but he can't let you stay upset like that.

and eventually, he'd catch you falling asleep in his arms while he played, “just one more round,” neck weak and head jerking from the waves of sleep hitting you. and he'd softly push your head to rest on his chest while he placed a soft kiss to your forehead, feeling your cheeks stretch into a smile against his skin, telling you, “just a little longer, hm?”

and you'd fall asleep to the sounds of the soft clicks his equipment would make, creamy keys echoing at the back of your mind as you drifted closer to sleep— your eyelashes fluttered shut, warmth from hyuka's skin covering your body as your breathing slowed. cuddling up to him as his voice vibrated in his chest, cooing at how pretty you looked, all huddled up next to him <3 and he'd softly snap a pic, setting it his lockscreen, & making a mental note he'd show you your pretty face hidden in his chest tomorrow morning ,,,

So i was wondering if u could do something with beomgyu’s s/o surprising him at their recent tour 🫶🏻👀

word count: 2.1k genre: fluff, (secret) established relationship dear anon!!! thank you so much for your wonderful request, i hope i was able to do your idea justice! i had lots of fun writing this, and i've always wanted to try writing something similar! i'd love to hear your thoughts, thank you for your support and patience 🤍

the nature of your relationship with beomgyu had always been built on something light-hearted, even as the two of you grew into your separate selves and careers.

it’s what you believed kept your relationship blossoming– the spark as so many relationship experts had dubbed it. it’s what you believed kept you and your boyfriend together after so many years, after so much time spent apart, and after so many things had attempted to come in the way.

easily put: loving your idol boyfriend was easy because of the both of you were just a little bit unserious (sometimes).

the unexpected call comes at an hour too late for you to ignore. beomgyu’s manager is on the other line with a proposition that makes you sit up in bed and tug your sheets off urgently. you nearly think you’re stuck in the midst of a wishful dream, his voice a mere product of your sleep-deprived mind. but then he mentions something you’d been pondering on for months, something you’d never thought would be brought up to conversation with your boyfriend’s management team.

you’re left staring at your frazzled reflection in the bathroom mirror when he hangs up. he leaves it up to you to decide whether or not to tell beomgyu.

so, when beomgyu’s message inviting you to their last show on tour appears on your phone with a muted ding!, you decide to act. it feels a little mean, and it nearly makes you break your act when he sends enough sad face emojis to make the app lag, but you tell him you’re busy; unable to get a day off from your employer, who’s livid at the thought of you taking a vacation on such short notice.

it’s believable, almost too much so, because beomgyu answers with a voice message comforting you and promising to take you next time. he also sends you a selfie of him in his hotel bed, hair wet and lips devastatingly pouty, and you resort to turning your phone off to avoid telling him the truth.

you’ve come across countless photos and videos from his concert before, received even more from your boyfriend directly, but no amount of beomgyu fancams could prepare you for physically seeing him on stage. he looks absolutely incandescent, like a star that’s gotten to close to earth, and your lungs constrict at how effortlessly he carries himself through the songs.

the fervor and keenness with which he throws himself into his performance has left you awe-stuck every time, but seeing it on a stage in such a large-scale venue makes your heart squeeze with pride. there’s a certain glow to all of the members, really, one that made it hard for you to take your eyes off the stage during the entirety of the three hour show.

the stadium’s alive with roaring fans, the energy palpable in the thrumming air as each note reverberated like an echo. the eagerness in your throat nearly suffocates you. with every passing song, you could feel yourself growing more and more nervous, increasingly unsure of how beomgyu will react. despite sitting somewhat close to the stage, he has yet to acknowledge that he’s seen or recognized you.

beomgyu’s eyes briefly meet yours during one of the ments when he’s scanning through your section. his gaze pauses on you for just a moment longer, enough to let you see the brief flicker of shock on his unassuming face, before he schools himself and moves on to fans that are seated higher up. but you still manage to catch his gaze on you every now and then throughout the remainder of the show, fleeting and brief, yet progressively more incessant as everything draws to a close.

you swear you see him mouth something at you, but then confetti’s being blast out and you’re drowning in the screams around you. admittedly, the hardest part is waiting for the venue to begin emptying out, enough so that you can find a trusted staff member and be escorted backstage. you’re unsure of how long after the show it’s been when you can finally slip away to see beomgyu, but it’s all forgotten in the past when you turn into a room and see him staring back at you, this time unabashedly.

everything around you bleeds into hazy, distant nothingness as you run forward to close the gap between you two. beomgyu’s arms encircle you like a lifeline, pressing you into his chest with a measured tenderness. he’s warm and firm and familiar, and as he tucks himself into your shoulder, you feel like you can finally breathe again.

“i can’t believe you made it,” he mumbles against your neck, hold tightening around your waist. he’s sweaty all along the front, shirt practically drenched through after hours of performing, but all you can think about is the fact that he’s finally here. not on a screen. not in your fleeting thoughts throughout the day.

“airplanes are a crazy invention,” you joke breathlessly.

beomgyu laughs wetly from where he’s nuzzling your collarbones, seemingly intent on getting as close as physically possible to you. your own hand raises to card itself through his damp locks, untangling them where they’ve gone unruly from his dancing. you almost feel awkward with the mill of staff around you, but they look too busy tending to the clean-up process to even worry about the two of you huddling in the middle of it all.

“you two are so cute,” you hear from behind you, and as you crane your neck to meet taehyun’s genuine eyes, you flush.

stepping back from the hug, you feel beomgyu’s calloused palms move to cup your cheeks, gently cradling your face with a tenderness so raw it nearly hurts. he’s looking at you with such intent, almost as if in belief that you’re real and in front of him, and you resist to rock forward on your toes and kiss him square on the mouth. his thumbs smooth over your damp cheeks, and you realize with a start that you’ve been crying.

as the room continues to crowd with more staff filtering in, beomgyu takes the initiative to pull you into one of the more secluded corners of the lounge for some semblance of privacy. you lean back against the wall and peer up at him through your lashes, studying the way the glitter of his makeup catches the light. he’s even more beautiful up close, impossibly ethereal, and your heart aches at the thought of leaving him again.

the rest of the members seem to have also taken note of your presence, judging by kai’s excited holler from the doorway, and you preen under their attention when they crowd into your corner. beomgyu makes a noise of complaint when they circle around you, but the frown on his face doesn’t last long as he watches you hug the rest of his bandmates. they’re all still dressed in their stage outfits, equally sweaty and noticeably exhausted, and yet they greet you with such heartfelt enthusiasm that you feel yourself go warm all over.

“no way, you didn’t tell us you were coming!” soobin pulls back from smothering you to look you over, gasping when he notices the tour shirt you’d slipped on over your outfit. “you’re wearing the one beomgyu sent you! oh, i hate couples. i’m going to be sick–”

soobin breaks off, pretending to gag, and you swat at him with a smile so wide that hurts your cheeks.

“we’ve missed you so much,” kai continues earnestly, grinning impishly, “probably more than gyu, if we’re being honest.”

“careful, i know where you’re sleeping tonight,” your boyfriend grumbles, sticking his tongue out at the both of them as he scoots into your side, wrapping his arm around your waist.

“so do i? we’re literally staying on the same floor…”

“at this point, can’t we just ask manager-nim to get an extra room at our hotel for you?” yeonjun’s question is innocent, but it makes you go warm all over. partly from excitement, partly from embarrassment.

“no way, your manager’s done already done so much for me.” that was an understatement. he’d been more than understanding when you’d first brought the idea up to him, been too kind and patient in sorting out details and ruling out alternatives. he’d pulled too many strings to secure you a spot at the show, backstage even, that it felt outright inconsiderate to ask for more. you’d gotten to see beomgyu shining from afar, gotten to see him sweaty and tired and soft between your arms.

it was enough, no matter how selfish you wanted to be.

“it’s okay,” a deeper voice cuts you off before you can continue, and you back up into beomgyu in surprise. their manager laughs good-naturedly at your shock, moving in between the members and reaching out to shake your hand in greeting.

“it’s okay?” you squeak, meeting his hand tentatively.

“i appreciate your consideration,” he nods, turning to pat beomgyu on the back. “the boys have all worked really hard on this tour. it’s the last stop, and they have a long flight back to korea tomorrow. what’s one night of celebration? you’ll have to take a separate car and follow extra protocol, but it won’t be anything our team can’t handle. beomgyu, think of this as my congratulation to you for a successful tour.”

“if beomgyu gets to be with his partner, i want in-n-out,” soobin pouts, and everyone in the circle breaks off into laughter. yeonjun seconds this with a raise of his hand, and you watch with amusement as kai and taehyun quickly follow suit.

“thank you,” beomgyu whispers to his manager, smile sincere and flustered. his hold on your hand tightens, and you look over at him to share a knowing look.

the anxiousness at the back of your mind doesn’t disappear as beomgyu and the rest of the members go through the motions of warming down and preparing to leave. you’re instructed to wait on one of the empty couches in the corner, leg bouncing restlessly as you watch your boyfriend disappear down the hall, presumably to change into something with less frills and gems.

outside, you can still hear the hum of excitement from the venue, though considerably scaled down from what you remember it being during the show. your heart squeezes with pride at the thought of how far they’d all come– sold out venues with capacities the size of small towns. an achievement so deserving, and yet once unfathomable to the entire group.

beomgyu returns clad in sweatpants and a loose shirt, face wiped clean of highlights and glitters. he seems almost bashful as he approaches you, looking around with a shy quirk to his mouth as he comes to back you up against the corner. you know what’s coming before he even leans in to peck you, know from the determination in his eyes that this isn’t the last you’ll be seeing of him like this tonight.

“ready to head out?” he asks once he pulls back, reaching for your hand with a smirk playing at his lips. your fingers comfortably slip between his, and as you make your way out after the staff, you clear your throat and try to hide the blush on your cheeks.

“i also want in-n-out,” you say.

your boyfriend’s answering laugh is loud and fond, and it rings down the hallway like peals of bells. he leans into your side, nudging you with his shoulder, and you note that he still smells like the body wash you have at home.

“almost sounds like you’re more excited for the food than to spend time alone with me,” he pouts.

flicking him on the forehead, both of you pause before a set of doors, ones you assume lead to the exterior of the building. you know his manager isn’t far behind you, and after being briefed on the measures you’d have to adhere to once outside, you think it’s best you stick by a familiar face. the security milling around should have you feeling more on edge, but beomgyu’s secure hold on your hand is enough to make you forget all about the predicament.

you snapped out of your daze when he said that. you and taehyun never really interacted outside from accidentally bumping into him in the halls or chasing him down to do locker inspection, which he always avoided desperately. but seeing him, all dolled up and pretty, sitting here alone for god knows how long because of a stupid curse, made your intestines tie themselves up from pity.

“y/n,” you can't remember the last time taehyun actually tried to make conversation with you. he desperately tried to rush everywhere, his mom's curse must have set the road for destruction for any of her future descendents to come, and taehyun was no rule breaker. but you didn't know that there was another reason taehyun was so fidgety whenever you were nearby; a reason that caused his speech to slur whenever you'd beam at him in the halls, a reason that would make his fingers tremble, a reason that would turn him into a royal mess. hours he'd spend, day and night, blood pumping uncontrollably fast and feeling his heartbeat chatter his teeth, picturing you being able to spend time with him and actually talk to him. but how could he ever talk to you, when he could hear every click of the second needle on every clock nearby, and constant reminders that time was never his friend?

“sit with me.” but right now, all taehyun had was time on his hands before he could see you wearing a dress representative of your family legacy, secretly wishing he could be the one to hold your hand and guide you into the gymnasium, shocking the school.

“would you like to go thronecoming with me?”

☆ BONUS ! — taehyun was best friends (forever after) with sons of snow white and sleeping beauty. the three of them, yeonjun, soobin and taehyun himself, made up an unforgettable trio— untouchable royals that roamed the lands of Ever After, their presence shaking the earths and attracting commotion from not only humans, but also animals, chitter chatter here and there. their feet allowed grass to curl about, bright green, and plants to bloom like it were spring. a touch across an open wound, and it would heal twice as fast. untouchable royals, leaving everyone on their knees as they'd walk by, a sprinkling hue blessing them from the skies above.

HUENINGKAI, SON OF RAPUNZEL

the boy had magic hair, if it wasn't obvious enough. brown and gold glowing locks curled around his collar, freckled cheeks blushy and eyes glittering with curiosity— it wasn't a surprise that hueningkai was the spitting image of his mother. he wasn't too keen about his fate, either, a trait which was ironically similar to the rebellion of his mother. to be locked up in a tower, yearning for something out there that he knew was meant to be his, but never knowing when, or even if, he'll be able to have a grasp on it. it just didn't sit right with him that he were to suffer the same fate, sitting around and writing poetry and painting pictures (which wasn't really his favorite, either.)

so what was it about him, was it the naive, mischievous twitch of his nose, or the perk of his eyebrows when something would catch his attention? you didn't know what had you hooked, seeing hueningkai laugh with the children of the town as he handed them flowers, or trying to convince taehyun that a bit of mud on his shoes wasn't going to ruin his ever after.

and, fuck, maybe he did have the prettiest smile in the sun, and maybe he did sometimes tear his clothes climbing trees, and maybe he did have the bottom of his feet completely blackened from the mud—but did you really care, especially when he'd look so prim and proper in his white and gold uniform for the Tri-Castle-On? every morning and every evening, he'd practice in the field, hair combed to the side and streaks glowing as he muttered songs underneath his breath to calm his nerves, fingers shaking as he clutched his bow, archery being his weakest point.

hueningkai would watch you from the corner of his eye, focussed fingers crossed in front of your mouth, watching with furrowed eyebrows. you weren't that hard to miss, if he was being honest. and after letting an arrow go, he'd let out a breath he'd held in for so long, relaxing his shoulders and turning to you, soft smile on his lips as the glow from his hair dulled. sometimes he'd wave at you, and sometimes, if he was feeling extra cheery, he'd whistle while he skipped, shooting you a playful wink.

there was no way this boy was about to leave his fate behind a locked tower.
