Corporate Videos and Commercials: Elevating Your Brand with Rooftop Footage
In the competitive corporate branding and marketing world, standing out isn’t just a goal—it’s a necessity. One of the most captivating ways to elevate your brand is by using rooftop footage in corporate videos and commercials. Imagine your brand message framed against sweeping cityscapes or stunning sunsets—this kind of visual storytelling can leave a lasting impression on your audience. When looking for the best rooftop video production, there’s no better way to make your content shine than capturing the stunning backdrop of a Hudson Yards rooftop.
Tumblr media
But what makes rooftop footage so effective, and how can you leverage it to boost your marketing efforts? Let’s explore the impact of rooftop video production and why this creative approach could be a breath of fresh air for your brand's needs.
Why Rooftop Footage Works for Branding
Let’s face it—people are visual creatures. The right imagery can communicate a message faster and more effectively than words alone. Rooftop footage offers a unique, elevated perspective (pun intended) that brings a fresh, dynamic look to corporate videos. The expansive horizon, the energy of a bustling city below, or the serenity of a rooftop garden can all create powerful backdrops for your brand story.
Whether launching a new product, showcasing your company culture, or creating an emotional connection with your audience, rooftop footage brings a cinematic flair that elevates your content. With the popularity of drone shots and panoramic views, rooftop videos feel modern, sleek, and relevant—perfect for the digital age.
Telling Your Story from the Top
Rooftop settings inherently convey a message of success and ambition. Being “on top” is often associated with achieving your goals, leading your industry, or reaching new heights. This metaphorical message blends seamlessly into the visual language of rooftop video production, reinforcing your brand’s aspirations and achievements.
By shooting on a rooftop, you can also infuse your videos with a sense of openness and transparency—two qualities that resonate deeply with today’s consumers. When your brand message is delivered from an elevated space, it symbolically communicates that your business is forward-thinking, trustworthy, and above the competition.
Incorporating Urban Landscapes
One of the most exciting aspects of rooftop footage is the ability to incorporate the surrounding urban landscape. A rooftop in a city like New York offers unparalleled views that add depth and context to your corporate videos. The iconic skyline, for instance, can evoke feelings of innovation, ambition, and power—perfect for tech companies, financial institutions, or any business looking to project growth and authority.
Not only does this setting look visually striking, but it also allows you to connect with your audience in a culturally relevant way. Cities like New York have their unique identity, and by shooting in a space that captures the city's spirit, you align your brand with those qualities—hustle, creativity, or cutting-edge innovation.
Lighting, Angles, and Atmosphere
Another significant advantage of rooftop videos is the natural lighting. Rooftops provide access to ample natural light, making your footage look more professional, polished, and visually appealing. Whether it’s the soft glow of dawn or the golden hour just before sunset, the right light can add cinematic quality to your videos without the need for elaborate lighting setups.
Moreover, shooting from a rooftop allows for creative angles and compositions you simply can’t achieve indoors. You can capture wide shots of the skyline, close-ups of individuals with dramatic backdrops, or even aerial drone footage sweeping over the rooftop. This variety of shots offers endless possibilities for creative storytelling, giving your corporate videos a dynamic feel that keeps viewers engaged.
The Versatility of Rooftop Videos
The beauty of rooftop footage is its versatility. It can be used in various video types, from promotional commercials and brand narratives to internal company videos and recruitment content. You could even shoot a rooftop interview with your CEO discussing the company’s vision against the backdrop of a sprawling city or create time-lapse footage of the cityscape to show your business’s growth and evolution.
Rooftop settings are adaptable and can be styled to fit your brand’s tone—whether sleek and professional or casual and approachable. With the right team, a rooftop video can be customized to communicate your brand’s message with precision and flair.
Finding the Best Rooftop Studio
When creating rooftop videos, choosing the right production studio is key. You want a space that offers stunning views and the equipment and expertise to bring your vision to life. That’s where Hudson Yards Loft Film & Photography Studios comes in. Located in the heart of New York City, this fully equipped studio offers a rooftop with unmatched views of the Manhattan skyline, making it the ideal spot for capturing dynamic footage that will set your brand apart.

Interesting 1865 townhouse in Hudson, NY. It has 3bds, 3ba, and is priced at $1.325M.
Tumblr media
As soon as you walk thru the door, you see this amazing, unusual, rams head finial on the newel post, and a gorgeous patterned runner on the stairs.
Tumblr media
Because it shares a wall with another townhouse, all the rooms are on the left side. The original fireplace in the sitting room has a dramatic mirror that tips the ceiling.
Tumblr media
It looks like the owner has basically moved out.
Tumblr media
This must be the dining room. Beautiful architectural features and a built-in cabinet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whoever took the photos didn't take full rooms, but focused on parts of rooms, so we can't see the entire kitchen. I can say that I like the floor.
Tumblr media
Remodeled bath. I like the floor, tile and blue sink cabinet.
Tumblr media
Original staff stairs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm confused. The listing says single family home, so I thought that was a nice big bedroom that wasn't being used.
Tumblr media
Lovely exposed brick wall and original stairs.
Tumblr media
But, there's another full kitchen up here, complete with a wine rack in the island. I also like the gray cabinetry.
Tumblr media
It's a large kitchen and they show more of it than the one downstairs. A chandelier on the 2nd fl. doesn't convey. It must be this one.
Tumblr media
There's a nice new & vintage combo bath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Large primary bedroom with a beautiful carved fireplace.
Tumblr media
This bath feels so cozy. There's still an old fireplace in here that isn't functional.
Tumblr media
Bright guest room with original floor.
Tumblr media
Very nice rooftop deck.
Tumblr media
Lit up at night.
Tumblr media
The deck from the outside. There's no garage or driveway on the property, so parking would be on the street and I don't see any on this side street. For $1.325M, that might be a hard sell. I'm not a fan of doors on the sidewalk, either.
Tumblr media
I like the wrought iron fence & gates around the yard. The house is on a corner lot, right on the sidewalk and measures 2,178 sq ft.

jouissance (4)
Phillip Graves x Reader | political marriage, Graves finds himself in trouble, Vance makes a house visit and reader loses her mind a little bit | word count: 1,778
Phil’s bleeding, he’s pretty sure. Currently he’s unclear on the whereabouts of the actual wound —and the severity of it— but both of those can wait. There’s heat radiating out of one corner of the room, a fire he feels more than sees crawling up the building.
That leaves only one way out, and if these assholes are smart, shooters are bound to stalk the rooftops, hidden among the racket of rain and wind outside.
He has to move the Shadows and he has to move them now, if any of them want a chance to tell the tale. So Phillip’s on his feet on instinct, with a second to spare for gratitude when no bones seem to be broken.
He wonders offhandedly who on Earth would be reckless enough to try mortar fire in the middle of a city, however mangy the cluster of buildings might be, before the second round hits and the floor slips right from under him.
Your husband’s an insidious one. It’s in the way he folds his clothes and shines his shoes. In how he gently coils his belts to rest between your row of everyday handbags and the gun safe. Little things that speak of a marriage and make sure his presence is always here, in this house he bought you. All charm and a wicked mind. So you have to look at these things of his and think about his accent, the glint in his eyes when you misbehave, his mouth on yours.
Phillip Graves is more than you ever dared wish for. Yours in a way that sparks holy terror in your gut. Against your better judgment and against your will, he sneaks into the routine and makes the bed feel empty without the expanse of his back to curl into.
You crave him, wherever in the world he is at the moment, risking his hide as a way of life. Because of course, you had to find him in the line of fire.
You’re not made for easy, you’re made for finding the perfect husband and being in constant danger of losing him. He has the scars to prove it too, so close to that sharp brain of his. And he wears them with the kind of balls that your friends back in Hudson Yards try to match with distressed jeans and design pre-scuffed boots. Worse is the joy he finds in the work: obvious, magnetic. Such an intrinsic part of him that you couldn’t even wish to stop him.
Worst is that when Vance shows up in the middle of the afternoon, after Phil’s been gone for weeks, you don’t even flinch.
“Mrs. Graves,” he says. Standing on your porch with the straightest back you’ve ever seen, looking for all the world like he’s carrying the metaphorical neatly folded flag.
The thought slides sluggish into your awareness. You don’t know if that still happens, Phillip being  a contractor, saving the ‘real’ military’s asses by doing their fucking dirty work. And it’s so inconsequential that it takes over —the question—, for another second of staring blankly.
“Ma’am,” Vance tries again, gently herding you into the house by the elbow.
He’s not wearing gloves, you notice, and he seems to be trying to keep a hand on you, even if it feels like he’s not used to this kind of constant touching. It’s something you’ve seen Phil doing more than once, so it stops you dead, makes you stumble into the stupid decorative side table your in-laws insisted on gifting you.
“What happened?” It’s breathy, punched out of you. Two half words in a long exhale.
“We lost contact with Commander Graves’ team at around o’ five hundred this morning—“
“It’s damn near six pm.”
“We have protocols—“
Of course they do, Phil is adamant about doing things right or not doing them at all. So it’s been twelve hours, plus the drive, of no one knowing where your husband is. And it’s not even that fact that makes Vance hesitate. It’s the next few words out of his mouth that turn this into a scenario that warrants the face he’s making.
“And— satellite images show signs of a fairly large explosion, close to their last known location.”
The shit table catches your weight once again, rattling up a storm. You lean on it, simply because, unlike Vance, it doesn’t look at you like you’re on the verge of exploding.
You might be, actually. Your head feels like a lit fuse, building pressure under your tongue. Anger simmers under the shock, an impulse to bite, to leave claw marks on what’s yours.
“We still have no concrete information,” Vance’s palm finds your elbow for the second time.
Maybe he expects your knees to buckle, but he stays close. Phil close. So you take a couple steps back.
“A team was dispatched for search and rescue, we should have news by tomorrow morning at the latest.”
Vance looks at you like you’re supposed to respond to that, fulfill the social contract in some way you can’t fathom right now. Are you meant to thank him for the bad news? This can’t be the first widow-to-be visit he makes, but it is yours, which makes the etiquette unclear.
He moves, in the end; does that universal half turn, half vague gesture towards the door one does when trying to excuse themselves from something. Your body moves with him, follows on instinct.
You’ve never been one to wait— call it being a spoilt brat, but you need something to focus on if you’re going to simply hold out for any amount of time; your phone, a book, even people watching. But all your mind goes to at the moment is blood and fire and Phillip and every single black dress you own.
The rage in the pit of your stomach strains at the leash. At Vance, at the Shadows, at Phil. And you’re bound to demolish the house, if you’re left alone in it for more than the five minutes of this interaction. Might end up cutting into ribbons all your funeral-appropriate clothes.
“I’m coming back to base with you,” it comes out flat. Not begging, not a demand. Because it isn’t, it’s a statement of fact, a certainty that throws this Shadow off his game. Makes him sputter like an old chainsaw for an excuse he thinks you’ll take.
“I’m supposed to go right back, I— there’s no time to pack for the night…”
You hand Vance your phone, leave him there palm outstretched while you shove laptop, chargers and wallet into a bag. A process that takes all of five minutes, in which you’ve correctly assumed he won’t dare fuck off without you. Not before you pluck the device back from his very light grip, keys jingling as you unlock the truck in the driveway.
“I’ll follow you.”
It occurs to you, quite late, that the correct reaction to this would be to cry. Not that you can focus on it, with the strange bureaucracy of security checks and Vance’s unrelenting escort into the Shadows’ facility, but maybe you should.
You could probably try, in the same way that social deception usually comes to you. Second nature, beaten into your body by private schooling and parents that mostly think of you as an asset in whatever scheme they happen to be cooking up at the time. Whether that’s looking pretty at a charity ball or securing the Graves’ deep pockets for future political endeavors.
Crying for the stony faced, hurried soldiers you pass by on your way to Phil’s office would be easy, all things considered; it just feels wrong under your skin. You’re not fucking here for them, you’re here for the husband that is definitely coming back. Because he made a promise to keep you and, despite the things your world has thought you about promises, you fucking trust him.
Nausea, on the other hand, comes a lot more naturally. Bile climbing up your throat like an awful tide you have to pause to fight every couple steps. It burns in your throat and threatens to make you tear up out of nothing but physical discomfort, but it just doesn’t have the same flare, doesn’t get the same reaction.
“The bathroom next to Phil’s office is private, right?” Vance levels you with a look so strange that you feel the need to add the truth at the end, amend your question, “—I’m gonna be sick.”
Even now it’s unbearable to be assumed as a fragile little greenhouse flower that can’t cope with a shared toilet. Especially when he already looks at you out like you’re an alien learning how to act human and not quite hitting the mark.
“Commander Graves has his entire private quarters back there, not just the bathroom,” Vance doesn’t stop, doesn’t even slow down his pace, but this is the most surprised you’ve seen him. “He used to spend a lot more time here, before he met you. You’ve bumped up time off for all of us.”
Your expression must be a sight, with the chuckle it gets out of him. It loosens his stance some, makes him look at you like you’re a person and not a grenade he has to jump for the first time today. The silence suddenly not so fucking tense between you, until he punches in the code to your husband’s office and he stands there a foot away, starting and stopping a sentence for a couple times.
“He always comes back, Commander Graves,” Vance settles for in the end; not empty assurances, just what he knows from experience.
You can appreciate it, can take the hand he settles on your shoulder amicably. Though he’s not Phillip and hasn’t earned the privilege to comfort you.
He leaves you, promising an update on first light, no matter how much you insist on ‘as soon as you have one’. You’re not gonna sleep anyway.
Even after you shower and rummage around drawers for one of Phil’s spare shirts, you settle on the office chair with your laptop to try and pretend to work. Your husband’s desk is clean, sparsely furnished with a pen holder, a couple stacks of post it’s and presiding over all, a framed copy of your wedding photo.
The tightness in your chest comes on so suddenly that it knocks the breath right out of you. And it forces out the most embarrassing, raw sound you’ve ever heard yourself make. It’s an animal sort of cry, growl and sob and the clarity that losing Phillip Graves will unmake you in ways you don’t want to imagine.

Happy Birthday, Boss!
Linktober 2023 Day 18: Boss The morning of Hudson’s surprise party, the whole town buzzed with excitement. They’d been planning the event for weeks, speaking in hushed whispers and shutting up about it whenever the boss walked by. Everything had to be perfect, they said. Which is why they needed to invite the princess and her knight.
The morning of Hudson’s surprise party, the whole town buzzed with excitement. They’d been planning the event for weeks, speaking in hushed whispers and shutting up about it whenever the boss walked by. Everything had to be perfect, they said. Which is why they needed to invite the princess and her knight. Who else could make better racing carts?
Zelda and Link had spent the better part of the day before designing and building carts to compete in the planned race. He’d had to return to the sky islands above Akkala in order to obtain more batteries to power the various carts. They’d made nearly half a dozen—even one sized for a Goron.
Tables lined the footpaths around the inner circle of Terry Town, sturdy cloths laid over them. Banners and pendants stretched between rooftops, tied to the Unity Bell like spokes on a wheel. Kilton made some room on his monstrous display for the Stable Trotters to perform—Pyper almost fainted at the sight of the King Gleeok and kept a careful eye on it even after being assured that it was just a carving. The first event of the day brought a small crowd to the construction site. A few brave souls took their places at the starting line. Grayson gleefully took the handlebars of a modified steering stick, the cart’s wheels creaking under his weight. Hagie eyed the Goron warily, comparing the massive wheels on his cart with the smaller wheels on his own. Fyson’s clawed feet hopped up onto a cart beside him. While the Rito had been told multiple times that a cart race necessitated the absence of flight, Fyson declared that he was perfectly capable of driving “just like the Hylians!” Though, if Link’s observations of Fyson’s driving yesterday was any indication, Fyson’s grasp on ground transportation was shaky at best. As Link hopped onto his cart, nothing more than a fan bolted to the back of a Zonai cart, he watched in amusement as Hudson examined the workmanship on the final model.
Though the cart they’d prepared for Hudson was functionally identical to those driven by Hagie and Fyson, Hudson still inspected every bolt and screw. He wasn’t satisfied until he’d flipped the whole thing upside down to inspect the undercarriage. Though, apparently having found nothing to alarm him, Hudson eventually flipped his cart right side up, and the race could begin.
“Alright, racers!” Fernison called, her hands cupped around her mouth. “On your mark!”
Engines revved.
“Get set!”
Link trained his eyes on the first light. Hit that, bank hard right, hit the second, thread between those boxes-
“Go!”
Link’s cart zipped ahead of the others. Maybe it wasn’t fair, making his model so much more lightweight than theirs. But in his defense, it was Zelda’s idea. He wanted to make all the carts fast and light! But she rightfully reminded him that most people didn’t spend months piloting Zonai vehicles and learning how to handle them. What their models lacked in speed, they more than made up for in maneuverability. Link pulled hard to the right, zipping through the first light. The other racers were yards behind him, only getting to the first light when he zipped through the third.
A loud crash and a squawking behind him caused Link to whip his head around as he collected the fourth. Grayson had taken out a stack of metal crates and slammed his cart into a fallen chunk of island. Fyson, evidentially having been following close behind, took to the skies as his cart rocketed toward the smoldering remains of Grayson’s. The Rito and the Goron were both disqualified.
Wheels screeched around the third bend. Link’s need to make wide turns soon outpaced his speed advantage. Hagie and Hudson gained on him. Hagie leaned forward as far as possible on his steering stick, his face red from concentration.
“Careful with the stick, Hagieson!” Hudson called. “They can snap if pushed too hard!”
“It’s Hagie!” SNAP!
Link winced, stealing a glance back at Hagie-not-Hagieson tumbling heel over head onto the racetrack as his cart veered off to the side and crashed into the barrier. The poor guy was still holding half a steering stick.
Wind rushed through Link’s hair as they raced toward the final light, neck and neck. Link kept his head down, minimizing wind resistance as much as possible. With a straight stretch ahead of them, his smaller cart should easily zip into the finish line, leaving Hudson in the dust. But as Link adjusted his course to narrow in on the last checkpoint, he heard an unusual sound behind him.
FWOOSH!
Hudson rocketed, literally, onto the final platform. Link coughed in the resulting dust cloud, trailing behind Hudson by mere seconds. A cheer went up in the crowd, congratulating Hudson on his success. Rhondson smoothed her husband’s wind-ruffled hair back into place.
Link dismounted his cart, trying not to pout about losing. Zelda, having congratulated Hudson for winning the race, joined Link’s side, a mischievous smile on her face. “What’s wrong, Link?”
With all the attention on Hudson, Link felt fairly certain that no one but Zelda would see him be such a sore loser. “I don’t remember putting rockets on his cart.”
Zelda giggled, hiding her mouth behind her hand. “That’s because you didn’t. I did.”
“But why?!” Link whined.
“Because I knew you’d win if I didn’t. And look how happy he is.” She gestured toward Hudson, who laughed heartily, basking in the attention of his employees. “It’s his birthday, Link.”
Link crossed his arms with an exaggerated huff. Pretending to be upset about Zelda’s “betrayal” proved more amusing than a win anyway. “Fine. But only because it’s his birthday.”
The celebrations carried on back up the railcar. Roasted meats and candied fruits graced the various colorful tables set out that morning. Residents hosted and participated in games of chance and skill. Link lost fifteen rupees playing cards against Moggs. Zelda won back twenty. Monari showed the children how to toss wooden rings onto bottle necks. Beetz let Hunnie play an “experimental” rhythm on his drum. The rest of the band kept up with her as best they could, leading to laughter and cheers from all.
Moggs took Monari by the hand, leading her in a jovial dance around the town square. At Zelda’s request, they taught the steps to a small crowd. Link stepped on Zelda’s foot twice—she was nice enough to only mention it once.
As the evening drew to a close, Eustus blasted his horn to gather everyone’s attention to the monstrous stage.
Kilton bounced excitedly from one foot to the other. He stood behind a table, on which rested a metal dome so tall it nearly covered his face. “Good people of Terry Town, hello, hello!” He called, chucking at the end. “I have prepared for everyone’s enjoyment a most spectacular, most splendiferous creation! Behold!” He grabbed hold of the dome on either side, lifting it with much struggle and a hrrrrrk!, finally letting Beetz assist him.
Sitting atop the table was the biggest, purpliest, most vibrant monster cake Link had ever laid eyes on. A cheer rose up from the crowd, all delighted by the culinary masterpiece. Two Zonai cannons blasted behind the stage, sending colorful bursts of light into the air, which crackled and sizzled down from a fiery flower’s blossom.
Kilton cut a large slice of the monster cake, holding the piece high enough for the whole assembly to see. “Three cheers for the best president that Terry Town could ever ask for! Happy birthday, Hudson!”
Rancorous applause, whistles, shouts, and cheers filled the air. Many of Hudson’s employees patted him on the back and playfully punched his shoulder, all pushing him up toward the stage to take the cake. Hudson, his dark eyes scanning the crowd nervously, his face rather red, took the cake.
“Speech!” Fyson called. Several others joined in with this demand, a cacophony of “Speech! Speech! Speech!” soon drowning out even the applause. Link, too, found himself shouting along with the crowd, laughing at the absurdity and delight of it all.
Hudson raised his hand. The crowd quieted. “Well, firstly, I must say that it is incredibly kind of all of you to put on a big party like this.” A cheer of goodwill followed this sentence. Hudson cleared his throat. “I am very glad to see Terry Town come together to create a festival this grand and lively. I haven’t had so much fun in…well, since I last built a house!” Laughter rippled through the crowd.
Hudson shook his head, chuckling a bit himself. “It really means a lot to me that you all cared enough to cheer me up. I’m sure many of you have noticed, though have been kind enough not to make much of it, that my precious Mattison has left us to join her mother’s people in Gerudo Town.”
A more subdued cheer followed that declaration. Link remembered well the fights that Hudson and Rhondson got into when he first arrived in town. He felt terrible for them. That tradition kept a man and his children separate…it was almost barbaric, though he didn’t dare mention that to a Gerudo. He couldn’t imagine being forced to part with his own daughters, were he ever so blessed to have them.
“There is just…one thing…that I feel obligated to mention.” Hudson continued. The crowd fell silent, waiting in quiet expectation for what important detail Hudson felt they all needed to be made aware of.
“My birthday is next month.”
”WHAT?!” The crowd muttered to each other, baffled by this announcement.
Zelda hid her smile behind her hand, her shaking shoulders the only indication that she was holding back uproarious laughter.
Link leaned close to her, watching the confused crowd try to figure out where they heard the wrong date and who didn’t bother to correct them. Accusations and defenses flew from one side of the square to the other, none so puzzled as Hudson himself. Link kept his voice a whisper, low enough that only his princess heard him. “You knew it wasn’t his birthday, didn’t you?”
Zelda pressed her lips tightly together, the corners of her mouth fighting not to turn upward as she struggled to hold in her laughter. She shook her head. “I have no idea what you’re referring to!”
“Zel!” Link laughed, poking her in the side, which caused his princess’s laughter to finally escape as well. “You could have said something!”
Luckily, no one seemed to take any notice of them as Zelda giggled. “I know, but they all had so much planned, and you know we’ve got that banquet next month-.“
Link’s mouth opened and closed like a hearty bass. “You didn’t correct them because it would interfere with our schedule?!”
“Shh, I did no such thing.” Zelda pressed a finger to his lips, mirth, and laughter still sparkling in her eyes. “That would be very unprincesslike of me.”
Link set his hand on her waist, pulling her close. “You cheeky-“ He chuckled softly, pressing a kiss to her nose. “You let me lose that race knowing it wasn’t even Hudson’s birthday.”
“Mm, I cannot deny that.” Zelda teased. “I hope you’ll forgive me.”
Link narrowed his mischievous gaze, a playful smile on his lips. “Absolutely not. You’ve wounded my pride, and that is completely unforgivable.” He kissed her forehead. “Extremely unprincesslike behavior.”

DECEMBER 31ST, NYC
NEW YEARS EVE at HUDSON YARDS
Concrete jungle littered with bright, changing lights. On December 31st, everyone looks to New York City as the clock strikes midnight, and the world shifts into a new plane.
Thousands upon thousands gather on the streets, at homes, or rooftops. Strangers become friends, friends become family, and better friends something more. Enemies might have this night be an unlikely truce — or the turning point of a rivalry.
Above all, one thing is true: no one is above celebration — in whatever form it takes. Choose your poison and your circle, and enjoy your night.
OOC INFORMATION:
IC, the event takes place on the night of December 31t / Early hours of January 1st. OOC, the end date will be determined soon.

NYC for the First-Timer: Must-Do Activities to Immerse Yourself in the City
Tumblr media
New York City, often referred to as "The Big Apple," is a bustling metropolis brimming with iconic landmarks, diverse neighborhoods, and a rich cultural tapestry. For first-time visitors, the sheer number of attractions can be overwhelming. To help you make the most of your visit, here’s a detailed New York City travel guide to must-do activities that will immerse you in the true essence of NYC.
1. Marvel at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
No visit to New York City is complete without seeing the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and democracy. Hop on a ferry from Battery Park to Liberty Island, where you can take a tour of Lady Liberty herself. Don’t forget to visit the pedestal or even the crown for breathtaking views of the city skyline.
Next, head to Ellis Island, the historic gateway for millions of immigrants. The Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration offers insightful exhibits about the immigrant experience and the diverse cultural fabric of America.
2. Stroll Through Central Park
Central Park, an 843-acre oasis in the heart of Manhattan, is a must-see for first-timers. Take a leisurely walk or rent a bike to explore its many paths, gardens, and iconic landmarks, such as Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, and the Central Park Zoo. For a unique experience, consider a horse-drawn carriage ride.
In winter, the park transforms into a snowy wonderland, perfect for ice skating at Wollman Rink. During the warmer months, enjoy a picnic on the Great Lawn or a boat ride on the lake.
3. Experience Times Square
Times Square, often called "The Crossroads of the World," is a dazzling spectacle of neon lights, giant digital billboards, and bustling crowds. Visit this tourist attraction at night to witness its full vibrancy. Be sure to explore its many attractions, including the Broadway theaters, where you can catch a world-class show.
For a bird’s-eye view of the square, head to the top of the red stairs at the TKTS booth, where you can also score discounted tickets to Broadway shows.
Tumblr media
4. Visit the Museums
NYC boasts some of the world’s best museums, and visiting at least a few is a must. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, or "The Met," houses an extensive collection spanning 5,000 years of art. Don’t miss the Egyptian Temple of Dendur and the rooftop garden with its spectacular views of Central Park.
The American Museum of Natural History is another New York City tourism site featuring fascinating exhibits on dinosaurs, space, and human cultures. The Hayden Planetarium, part of the museum, offers immersive space shows narrated by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
For modern art enthusiasts, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum are essential stops. Both museums feature works by artists like Van Gogh, Picasso, and Warhol in architecturally stunning buildings.
5. Walk the High Line
The High Line, a unique urban park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side, offers a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. This 1.45-mile-long park features beautiful gardens, public art installations, and stunning views of the Hudson River.
Start your walk at the southern end of the Meatpacking District and head north toward Hudson Yards. Along the way, you’ll pass through Chelsea, known for its vibrant art galleries and trendy restaurants.
6. Explore the Neighborhoods
New York City is a patchwork of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own character and charm. In Greenwich Village, stroll along the quaint streets lined with brownstones and visit Washington Square Park. In SoHo, indulge in some shopping at high-end boutiques and art galleries.
Explore the best places to visit in Chinatown for an authentic cultural experience with its bustling markets and delicious cuisine. Little Italy, right next door, offers a taste of Italian-American culture with its cozy cafes and restaurants.
For a taste of the city’s hipster culture, visit Williamsburg in Brooklyn. This neighborhood is known for its street art, indie music venues, and artisanal food markets.
Tumblr media
7. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a quintessential New York City experience. This historic bridge, completed in 1883, offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the East River. Start your walk from the Manhattan side and head towards Brooklyn.
Once you reach Brooklyn, explore DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), a trendy neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, art galleries, and waterfront parks. Grab a bite to eat at the famous Grimaldi’s Pizzeria or enjoy a scoop of ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.
8. Taste the Diverse Cuisine
New York City is a food lover’s paradise, offering a vast array of cuisines from around the world. Start your culinary journey with a classic New York bagel topped with cream cheese and lox. For lunch, grab a slice of pizza from one of the city’s many pizzerias.
Head to Katz’s Delicatessen on the Lower East Side for a pastrami sandwich that’s been a local favorite since 1888. For dinner, explore the city’s diverse neighborhoods and their authentic eateries, from the dim sum in Chinatown to pasta in Little Italy.
Don’t forget to indulge in some street food, such as hot dogs, pretzels, and halal carts, which are quintessential New York experiences.
9. Enjoy the Skyline Views
For some of the best views of the city, visit one of its iconic observation decks. The Empire State Building offers a classic view from its 86th-floor observatory. For a more modern experience, head to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center, where you can see Central Park and the Empire State Building.
For a different perspective, visit One World Observatory at the top of One World Trade Center. The view from the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere is nothing short of spectacular, offering a 360-degree panorama of the city and beyond.
10. Catch a Live Performance
New York City is synonymous with live entertainment. Beyond Broadway, the city offers a plethora of performance venues. Visit Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to catch a ballet, opera, or classical music concert.
For a more intimate experience, head to one of the city’s many jazz clubs, such as the Blue Note or Birdland. The Apollo Theater in Harlem is a historic venue where you can enjoy everything from R&B to comedy shows. You can find last-minute Broadway tickets in NYC from VisitNYC.com at a discounted rate!
11. Visit Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum
Pay your respects at the 9/11 Memorial, located at the site of the former World Trade Center. The two reflecting pools, set in the footprints of the Twin Towers, are inscribed with the names of the nearly 3,000 victims.
The 9/11 Museum, located nearby, offers a moving and comprehensive account of the events of September 11, 2001, through artifacts, testimonies, and multimedia exhibits. It’s a solemn but essential part of understanding the city’s recent history.

Camilla normally considered herself impervious to obvious attempts at flirtation. Guys were never very smooth. The ones who were had a tendency to be assholes with a narcissistic complex a mile wide. Girls reveled in compliments, and more often than not she could win them over with a promise taking charge. Mean femmes are the best, one of her most recent hookups had told her after they’d hooked up in a bathroom stall at a queer club in Hudson Yards. You’re like catnip in a place like this.
Eve was…different. For every move Camilla had in her repertoire, Eve matched her step for step. Accentuating her figure, the lipstick stains on the glass. It made Camilla wonder how that lipstick would look smeared across her own mouth, her neck, her collarbone.
She was so lost in that daydream that it took her a moment to process what Eve had said. And that she’d been asked a question.
“I love the museums in the city. My dad used to take me to the Natural History Museum all the time.” She tapped a finger against her chin. “There’s this little secret-ish rooftop garden near my apartment. It’s kinda like a speak-easy. The whole city looks dreamy from there, like in the movies.”
The waiter returned again, this time guiding them through the menu. Camilla made the choices Eve suggested, veering off enough to be a little contrary just because she couldn’t help it.
“Okay, I’ll be honest, I don’t do a lot of dating apps because it never feels very genuine.” She sipped her drink again once the food had been ordered. “I know we spoke online, but let’s get the usual stuff out of the way. I’m twenty-five, a night owl, and you can win me over with a chai latte or baked good. My sexuality is best described as non-discriminatory. I don’t have any pets or kids. I majored in digital marketing and start a new job soon.”
When the bread arrived, Camilla felt her stomach rumble. She hadn’t eaten since breakfast and it was catching up with her.
“And now I’m about to eat my body weight in bread,” she laughed. “So if that turns you off, look away.”
