Tom: Why are you calling me on your day off?
Huck: I need your help. I’ve done something bad, very bad.
Tom: Put the corpse on ice, I’m on my way.
Huck: What? No, it’s not– why would I–

How accurate the characters in the The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer anime are to the books
Tom Sawyer - I really enjoy this adaptation of Tom. He’s fun, sweet, caring, mischievous, imaginative, reckless and always getting in trouble just like in the books. I really liked how much the show portrayed his childishness as well as how much he cares for his family, friends and just people in general. I also love how protective Tom is of Huck. It makes my heart melt. I imagined Tom with brighter red hair, but that’s okay. He’s still a cutie here. I think the three biggest things this show is missing is: 1) Tom’s rebellious nature against authority. In the show, Tom is usually scared to get in trouble, and yes he doesn’t like getting whooped, but in the books he often tries to get in trouble. He likes the attention, even if it’s the bad kind. 2) Tom loves to read!!! There are so many times in the show where Tom says he dislikes books or the other characters get surprised when he tries to read one. This is so untrue! Tom reads all of the time, and it is such an important part of his character. The entire reason why Tom gets in trouble or tries so many of his stunts is because he’s trying to recreat the stories he reads in his books. 3) Tom’s ego isn’t present in the show. Tom has a big ego...that’s it. Rating: 8/10.
Hucklberry Finn - Ahh this kid is so cute! The show did a great job with capturing how stubborn, cautious, easily persuaded, skeptical and adorable he is. The tree house came out of nowhere?? But I love it. I also love Huck’s hat. I think the biggest things the show missed was Huck’s physical appearance and they just really downplayed his personality. Appearance wise, I don’t agree with the show’s design. Huck looks way to well fed, and he clearly isn’t. He should be very skinny, a lot paler, dirtier and his clothes should be a lot bigger on him and not in such a good condition. I also think he should be shorter than Tom and the other boys due to malunutrition. I love his one rolled up pant leg though! Personality wise, Huck is too calm. In the books he is simultaneously chill and not chill at the same time. I do like how the show captured and balanced Huck’s awareness and obliviousness of the world at the same time. I do think the show needs to show more of his childish and inncoccent side. Overall, he’s a cutie pie. Rating: 6/10
Becky Thatcher - I think Becky is perfect. She’s so sweet, innocent, cute, girly, and honest. Her love story with Tom is so cute, and the show did an excellent job of portraying it. The only thing I’d change is her hair color, so she’s blonder. Rating: 9.5/10
Sidney Sawyer - AHHH I LOVE THIS KID. Sid is literally one of my favorite characters. I love him with all my heart as well as this adaptation of him. He’s interactions with Tom are so pure. One thing the show does seem to avoid is how Sid wants to get Tom in trouble. The show kind of did it for the first few episodes, but not really. It kind of erased Sid being a tattletale, which is just sad. Sid loves to get Tom in trouble. It can be for something he actually did, something Sid did, or something completely made up. It makes me sad how the show took away such an essential part of Sid’s character, but he is still great. He’s polite, behaved, and a little brother who just wants to hang out with his big bro. Rating: 5/10
Mary - I love her! She’s loving, good natured, and always sticking up for Tom - even when he doesn’t necessarily deserve it. The only thing the show got wrong was her age. Although the book doesn’t ever say how old Mary is, she’s still a child. She’s definitely older than Tom though. Rating: 9/10
Aunt Polly - She is beauty, she is grace, she will be the best aunt you’ve ever had. Aunt Polly is literally the exact same as she odd in most adaptations of her. Strict, but sweet and caring. She’s the ultimate mother figure. You gotta respect her for how she handles Tom and his wild nature. I appreciate this hardworking and loving woman. She even looks the exact same as she does in the book! Rating: 10/10

i just found the notes i made for an essay comparing Les Mis and Huckleberry Finn. Enjoy.
Hucklberry Finn-
Pre-Civil War (the bad one that did not contain Scarlett Johannsen and Sebastian Stan)
Head vs heart [huck]
Adventure/minor felonies [huck and tom]
Outside of society’s “norm” (aka school/sailing down the Mississippi on a raft with an escaped slave)
Social novel?
Ridiculous subplot (breaking an ALREADY FREED slave out of confinement instead of just saying, ‘hey he’s actually free’ and getting SHOT IN THE LEG for your troubles{looking at you tom})
Obligatory cameo (looking at you tom)
Extremely thick and annoying accent [JIM (what are you even saying half the time I don’t understand how Mark Twain wrote this without Google Translate)]
Les Mis-
Pre-Revolution (which is kind of a civil war, but a successful one)
Head vs heart [valjean/javert?(tiny bit at the end before he jumps off a bridge?{that might not send he best message})(look at all those parentheses!)]
Adventure/treason [les amis]
Outside of society’s “norm” (aka prison/overthrowing the government/unofficially buying\adopting a child)
Social novel
Ridiculous subplot (falling in love with some girl you see on the street, having your other female friend {who’s totally into you} find out her address, stalking her, STILL NOT KNOWING HER NAME, finally actually talking to her, finding out she feels the same way{seriously Cosette?} finding out she’s moving to America and instead of following her, or I don’t know TALKIN TO HER DAD? deciding to join a group of revolutionaries who KNOW they are all going to die and by blind chance being saved by the father of the girl you fell in love with, without either of you knowing it. And then marrying the girl. {Again, seriously Cosette?})
*i forgot how sassy and annoyed i was when i wrote this*

Easy A (2010)
A Comedy about a Good Girl, a Small Favor and a Big Rumor.
“Ironically, we were studying "The Scarlet Letter", but isn't that always the way? The books you read in class always seem to have a strong connection with whatever angsty adolescent drama is being recounted. I consider this. Except for "Huckleberry Finn", 'cause I don't know any teenage boys who have ever run away with a big, hulking black guy.”
I hated this film. It’s not funny, I laughed like twice. And it isn’t even remotely interesting in terms of cinematography, characters, and plot.
Starting with the humour. As I said, we barely laughed, and when I did it was always at background stuff or Fred Armisen. Most of the time, the jokes fall far in the cringe spectrum, this is mostly due to the encouraged improvisation from unfunny actors. Lisa Kudrow just repeated herself in every scene. Olive’s parents were caring and understanding, but they also weren’t funny, instead they unintentionally made me cringe.
Now, on to the plot. I really don’t understand the importance of her pretending to be a slut. The film would’ve worked much better if she actually was sleeping around with a lot of people. The film tries to have the message of respecting and treating sluts better, but then has the film’s resolution be that she reveals that she isn’t a slut (which isn’t a bad resolution). This acting aspect of the film hurts it, because it shows that the writers/producers were too scared to have a slut main character as they knew audiences wouldn’t empathise with that, therefore making the message of the film void since they’re just as bad as the characters they’ve written.
I hate this character with a passion. She has a goal of taking the lie further, but then gets upset when people believe that she’s slut. Todd and Olive’s relationship was incredibly forced, it was partially set up well, but for the most part it just happened because the script said so.
The music, I hate, although the use of pocketful of sunshine joke was a decent gag. It was shot very flat, however there were some unique moments, but even then they aren’t too memorable.
This movie is clearly inspired by teen comedies from the 80s like John Hughes’ movies, this in itself is fine. But I really don’t like that Olive had to explicitly explain it. It’s almost as if the writers were worried their jokes and subtlety would go unnoticed and therefore overprepared and overcompensated. It had one interesting callback to Hucklberry Finn, which they set up earlier, but then they had the characters watching it in the scene, with the novelty being immediately lost.
This movie is very cringe and boring, if you don’t like it 20 minutes in, then you won’t like the remainder. The message it’s trying to convey doesn’t work with the characters they’ve written and overall it just isn’t interesting or entertaining whatsoever.
K = 4/10 B = 2/10

-MEME 2 1.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer's Comrade) by Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens). First English Edition from 1884. It was released in England before it was released in the US in 1885.
Controversial from the very beginning, the book continues to be challenged or banned to this day.

BookStudy2 #2
In my novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn the author Mark Twain portrays several tones thus far through the eyes of his young narrator. Being the naïve boy he is we see this innocent side of Huck Finn for a majority of the novel. He sees the world in a different aspect compared to his society, with all of his towns racism and judgmental beliefs; Huck forgets all of that and helps his new friend Jim, a slave, reach freedom. Huck Finn changes his mind frequently like any other typical child which indeed reflects on the interpretation readers have of him, and because of this the author is unable to focus on one specific tone of his in following chapters. Mark Twain portrays his young narrator's humour and wit from time to time which gives this novel a comical side; when Huck is speaking to or attempting to convince people they are able to catch him in a lie causing his plans to quickly fall through. Readers see the humorous side of the narrator in one chapter when Huck dresses up as a girl after being in hiding and arrives in town to speak with a woman in the town’s office where she soon discovers upon Huck’s arrival that he is a boy. “The woman kept looking at me pretty curious, and I didn’t feel a bit comfortable.” (Twain, 234) From the perspective of this story readers grasp the morals of the young boy along with the author’s use and continuing change of tone throughout this novel and because of this Huck Finns innocent ways can bring the different tones to our attention as we read.
