Hi all!

At long last, I’ve finally created my Hogwarts Mystery Incorporated lineup. At the start of this project, I’ve stated that I planned to end this whole series with a lineup artwork of the pool of characters my MC is closest with and would most likely consistently work with throughout their tenure of solving mysteries at Hogwarts.

In the lineup from left to right, we have Bill Weasley, Tulip Karasu (with Dennis the musical toad), Rowan Khanna, Barnaby Lee, Montague Donohue (my MC), Penny Haywood, Nymphadora Tonks, and Charlie Weasley.

Rounding out the whole series is a few cute creatures we know very well: our bowtruckle (whom I’ve named Barnaby Jr. in-game) and our niffler, Sickleworth, who have their pair artwork under the cut!

Anyway, I hope you all loved this whole series I’ve made! I certainly enjoyed it, too. Hope you all stick around for more artworks I’ll be making in the future. I’ve been inspired by some artists who design tarot cards, so I wanted to try it with my favourite boy, Banarby.

At first I didn’t want him to be The Fool, because I thought it was too... obvious? I mean yes, he’s clueless most of the time, but he has other traits to his personality. After all, he is supposed to be the strongest Wizard in his year, he’s clearly not that dumb.

Then I read the reversed position of the card:

“ When the Fool card is reversed, you are encountering an unfinished side of yourself, a part still caught in the shadows of ignorance or immaturity. An emotional reflex or psychological attitude could be holding you back from responding authentically and naturally.”

And I was like... man this IS so Barnaby. His emotional baggage, his parents and grandmother being awful to him, his toxic relationships with Ismelda and Merula... I am still baffled that he is not an antagonist.

But he isn’t. In fact, he is the sweetest boy in the game. He could’ve become easily worse than Merula, but he decided not to. HE IS a pure soul in a corrupted world.

Am proud of this boy.

A/N: I kind of began writing it as a gender neutral fiction, but the ending isn’t really gender neutral anymore. So, I’ve written a warning so you will know where things aren’t gender neutral anymore. I’m sorry for those who want more gender neutral fictions with Barnaby. I’ll try to make the next fiction more gender neutral for you.

"There you are Barnaby Jr." You said when you were on the grounds where Care of Magical Creatures is given. You knelt down and gently let the Bowtruckle jump on your hand.

The Bowtruckle seemed happy to see you there, like it had been waiting for you to return. You weren't really allowed to bring the Bowtruckle along with you, because it was not on the list of pets you could keep. Besides, Bowtruckles could be dangerous if they were threatened. You would probably be punished if you brought the Bowtruckle along with you. You were glad Professor Kettleburn allowed you to take care of this Bowtruckle on this ground. You got attached to the Bowtruckle and you liked to take care of it.

  You smiled when the Bowtruckle went up to your shoulder. "You sure like climbing up, don't you?" You said amused. It was almost like Barnaby Jr. shrugged when you asked. Taking care of Bowtruckles was relaxing to you. It kind of helped you whenever you felt stressed out by your exams or the Cursed Vaults. Taking care of Magical Creatures just kept your mind from anything that could worry you. No one knew about you more spending time with Magical Creatures. You didn't mind them not not knowing about it, because you did prefer to keep them ignorant about the fact you were dealing with stress. How could they trust you with the Cursed Vaults if you were stressed? No, you wouldn't tell them about it, that was final. You didn't want them to worry about you, after all it was just a little stress, nothing more.

 You had been lying down on the grass when the Bowtruckle seemed to enjoy itself, climbing on top of you. "You seem to have a good a good time, Barnaby." You mumbled.  "How did you know I was here?"  You sat up and blinked when you saw the real Barnaby. You blushed a little and then you grinned awkwardly. "Oh, I.. eh... I was talking to the Bowtruckle." You mumbled. He seemed to be confused.  "You called a Bowtruckle Barnaby?" "Well, Barnaby Jr. is its full name, but that is a long story." Just thinking about giving the Bowtruckle that name made you blush. "Anyways, what are you doing here." You decided to change the subject, not wanting to tell him why you called the Bowtruckle after Barnaby.  "Oh, I thought Professor Kettleburn could let me help him with some Magical Creatures, just for some extra experience and stuff. It could help me become a Magizoolist in the future." He said honestly.

  "What about you?" Barnaby asked. "Oh, just taking care of this Bowtruckle during my free time." You said. "And sometimes I help Professor Kettleburn with other Magical Creatures." "Oh, I didn't know how much you were into Magical Creatures lately, Y/N. Do you also want to become a Magizoolist in the future?" He asked. "I'm not sure yet, but I sure do like Magical Creatures, especially Bowtruckles." "Awesome." He said with a smile before he walked closer to you and sat down. You were looking at the Bowtruckle, who seemed to be curious about the new person that sat down next to you.  "So, Kettleburn allowed you to take care of Barnaby Jr.?" He asked.

You nodded and smiled lightly. "Yeah, I got to meet the Bowtruckle during our fourth year. I got attached to it after Kettleburn told me to take care of it for a little while, so I came here once in a while to spend time with it."

  "I see, but I suppose you come here more often nowadays." Barnaby said. You blinked and looked at him.  "Why do you think so?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.  "People have been wondering where you are lately, especially Rowan." He said. "Of course, I was curious myself, but I thought it would be better to leave you alone. You were probably just busy." You rolled your eyes slightly with a grin.

"Well, thank you for being so considerate." You said softly. "I guess I should have expected people to find out I have been gone a lot more than I used to." "You shouldn't worry too much about it. I mean, if you want to have some time alone or anything they should respect that. I mean, they all have their own things as well."  "I suppose you are right." You said before you lied down on the ground again.

  "You are doing all right, aren't you?" Barnaby decided to ask.  You sighed. "I could be doing better."  "Oh..." He said, wondering if he could ask what was up or not. "If you want you can tell me, but that is up to you." You were unsure whether you wanted to tell him or not. After all, you didn't want to worry your friends because you were stressed. However, Barnaby seemed to be open minded, so he might not be too worried about it. You sighed and then you looked at him. "I'm just a little more stressed lately. Looking for the Cursed Vaults and studying for my N.E.W.T.s is harder than I thought. So, I come here mostly to relax and keep my mind from thinking about everything I am worried about."  "If this helps you with stress, it is a good way to cope with things. I mean, I heard taking breaks like these are important to keep going." He knew it was good to have breaks whenever you were studying hard. "It's a pretty hard year and I sure have quite some subjects to keep up with to pass this year." He said, rubbing the back of his head.

  "I think you have improved a lot these past years." You told Barnaby honestly.  He blinked. "You think so?"  "Yeah, you used to struggle a lot more during our third year." "Well, you guys have helped me out a lot." He said with a grin.  "That is what friends are for, right? Or do you still call me your partner?" You smirked lightly when you remembered him calling you a partner at the beginning. Barnaby chuckled, blushing slightly as well. "Well, you and Tulip used a Dungbomb on Ismelda and me." He said. "I wasn't sure if I could really trust you."  "And you do trust me now?" You asked amused.  "Most of the time, yes." He said with a grin.  "Good, that means you have learnt from spending time with me." You said with a wink.

"Well, being friends with you can be more difficult than being friends with Ismelda and Merula sometimes." He joked.

"So much more difficult, after all, I don't order you around or insult you." You said and then you rolled your eyes.

"No, you convince me to come along." He said amused.

"Well, you can't just force people, can you? I don't think I would be strong enough to force you." You said.

  "I don't know what you are thinking, but you seem strong enough to me." Barnaby said honestly.  "You must be mistaken, I'm not that strong." You told him.  "Well, you are strategic, so your intelligence is your strength. Also, you are not that easy to pull out of the way. I would say you have trained a little." He said with a grin.  "Besides duelling and flying class, I don't train that much." "You are also physically active during Care of Magical Creatures." He pointed out.  You shrugged and glanced away. Barnaby frowned and kept his eyes on you.  "Are you doubting yourself?" He asked.  "Sometimes." "Why?" He asked, not seeing why you should doubt yourself.  "Because I don't want things to go wrong. I mean, my brother got in serious trouble during his search. I suppose the older I get the more worried I get about looking for the Cursed Vaults." You explained. "I don't want to end up the same way Jacob did." "You don't want your wand to be snapped." He said.

  "Besides that, I have no clue what I want to do with my life after Hogwarts. I want to have good grades so I'm able to make choices, but so far I have no real directions. There are just so many things I would like to do, but eventually I would need to make a choice." You said. "And here I am, venting to you. Sorry about that." You mumbled, sighing softly afterwards.

"It is fine. You don't have to apologize." He said. "It seems like you really needed to, Y/N." "Still, I didn't mean to do such a thing." "It doesn't matter, you needed it. I think it is important you can vent yourself somewhere. You don't want to bottle your feelings up until you can’t handle it anymore, do you?” You knew Barnaby had a point. Bottling your feelings up could cause you to break down eventually. “I suppose you have a point.” You said honestly and then your ran a hand through your hair.

“You know, you can always talk to me if you want to, I mean, if that helps you out.” He said honestly. “I mean, it’s the least I can do, right?”

  Here you were, venting to Barnaby about how you were feeling. You honestly were surprised how easy he handled it. He didn’t seem to mind it, actually encouraging to be talk about how you are feeling.

“You don’t have to, I mean, I might not be the best person to talk to.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I do understand you would prefer someone else to talk to, someone who understands things better.”

“So far, you have understood me completely.” You told him honestly. “I think I have never talked about this to anyone else before… At least not like this.”

“So, you think I do understand what you have been talking about?”

“Well, yeah. I mean, you seemed to know what I meant.”

“I’m glad. I mean, it’s something I doubt sometimes.” He said with a chuckle.

“Let me guess, because people have called you stupid?”

“Exactly. People often think I won’t understand what they are talking about.” He said. “Well, perhaps if we are talking about Arithmancy, Potions and History of Magic, I won’t understand.”

“Well, I’m not good at every subject either, but that definitely doesn’t mean you are stupid.”

  Things got a little quiet between you two again before you decided to speak up again. “Everyone has something to deal with… Sometimes, it feels stupid to talk about your own problems when everyone has problems. I don’t want to bother you all, especially because I dragged you all in to this mess.”

Barnaby sighed softly. “You know, we all agreed to help you out, right? It isn’t like we are being forced to help you.”

“I just don’t get it. Why would you guys risking to help me? You all know it could get you in some serious trouble, right?”

“Of course, but you are also our friend and we won’t abandon you just because it is dangerous.” He said honestly. “Besides, people think it is dangerous to befriend me because of my parents.” He shrugged.

“Your parents don’t define you, Barnaby. Just like Jacob doesn’t define me either. We are just ourselves, nothing else.” You said with a smile. “You know? I actually feeling a lot better now. I guess I kind of forgot how nice it is to talk to someone about these kind of things.”

“I’m glad you are feeling better.”

“Maybe we can be each other’s venting buddies.” You chuckled. “So, you can complain and vent to me about your problems and you can listen to mine.” You joked.

“Sounds interesting. Does that also include spending time with Bowtruckles?”

“Of course! I’m sure Kettleburn doesn’t mind it if you are also taking care of Barnaby Jr.” You said with a sweet smile.

You turned around to see Penny and Rowan running towards you.

“Oh, hey guys.” You greeted with a sweet smile.

“Y/N, don’t tell me the rumour is real….” Rowan basically begged.

You raised an eyebrow. “What rumour?”

“About you and Barnaby.” Penny said. “We just want to know the truth.”

“You still haven’t told me about the rumour.” You said honestly, wondering what was so important. It was rumour, nothing more. There was no way it would have actually happened.

“They talked about a Barnaby Jr., Y/N.”

“Oh… Barnaby Jr.” You said, wondering what this rumour was about.

“So Barnaby Jr. does exist?” Penny asked with wide eyes. She couldn’t believe you said it so causally.

“Of course he does exist.” You said simply. “I didn’t know why you would make such a big deal out of it. I mean, Kettleburn allows me to take care of him. Barnaby didn’t even know about it before we spent some time together.”

“Wait, Kettleburn knows you are pregnant!?” Rowan nearly yelled.

“Woah!” You said, holding your hands up. “Pregnant? I’m not pregnant! Bloody hell, How could I be pregnant?” You said seriously.

“But who is Barnaby Jr. then?” Penny asked.

“Barnaby Jr. is the Bowtruckle I’m taking care of. Seriously, you guys I thought I was pregnant?” You frowned.

  Rowan and Penny stared blankly at you before they both understood was what was going on. “Oooooh….”

“Yes, really ‘oooh’. I can’t believe you guys thought it was about a baby…” You mumbled softly. “Besides, I might fancy Barnaby Lee, but I don’t recall having a fun night under the sheets with him if you know what I mean.”

  “Wait, you fancy me?”

You honestly thought you were going to die when you heard Barnaby’s voice behind you. Why did he have to be there? Why couldn’t he be somewhere else when you basically told him out loud you fancied him.

Rowan and Penny grinned awkwardly at you, giving you an apologetic look.

You took a deep breath and then you turned around to face Barnaby. “Yes, I do fancy you.” You said softly before you basically walked away from the scene.

This was definitely not what you had in mind. No, you were going straight to Care of Magical Creatures, so you would be able to calm yourself down again with Barnaby Jr..

  “What just happened?” Barnaby asked, looking very confused. He knew he would need to talk to you later, but he couldn’t help it but to be very confused about this.

(A/N: Once again I’m sorry for the ending not being gender neutral because of the ‘MC is pregnant’ rumour I decided to add. I thought it would be funny if people believed the MC was pregnant because people kept hearing the name Barnaby Jr. >__>’)

Any thoughts on the Magical Creatures Reserve?

I’m really looking forward for more of it, especially for the big creatures. Hopefully they won’y require too much books! 

I was surprise they give away the niffler that easily given a lot of people have been asking to have it as a pet. It is basically a required starter you get without wasting any gems or books. Not that I complain though XD it just really surprising. I named mine Sickleworth II

HMinktober Challenge - Day 5: Fav Slytherin Person

TODAY IS OFFICIALLY BARNABY LEE'S DAY. Deny it. I seriously doubt that someone (specially girls) would choose Liz or Merula or Ismelda (boys maybe, but oh, you know what I mean). This time I finished sooner than I spected, amazingly, I didn't struggled much. I'm happy.

Barnaby Lee

Who doesn't love Barnaby? Even those boys jealous of his popularity with girls must admit he's such a guy. Handsome, tough, strong, great for battle, and yet kind, caring, well intended, a pure soul. Barnaby comes from a traditional family of dark wizzards. Rised by his father and grandmother to be hardcore and powerfull, Barnaby gained himself a reputation on his first years at Hogwarts. But then, I showed up hehe after becoming part of our team, he could feel confortable to show his real self and release that little inoscent kid inside we all know and love. He's determinet to become a magizoologist and doesn't want to be seen as his father's son (who's recluted in Azkaban for being a deatheater and kill people during the magic war).

-Sometimes I think he might merry Liz Tuttle in the future since both share the same passion for creatures, and I cry, because I love him and I want him mine :C-

Who is the Mole?

@dalekofchaos I’m not taking any chances, your Ask will be given the security it deserves, from the demons of Tumblr who have been eating my messages! 

So, who is R’s agent? Well, let’s look at what we know. They’re apparently someone within the walls of Hogwarts, that this dark witch has regular contact with. It’s never established when the mole arrived, but MC seems to think that it was after Rakepick left, and that would make sense. Let’s narrow down the suspects. 

It’s not Jacob. Make no mistake, he is shady and he always has been. But he comes and goes. They specifically talked about a mole being present at Hogwarts. Plus, why would the White-Robed wizard flee when Jacob showed up, if he was on their side? Jacob is clear. 

It’s not Alanza. She simply arrived too late in the story. Why would R wait this long to have another agent planted at Hogwarts? One who could not slip in undetected, but would inevitably have attention drawn to herself by transferring? What’s more, Alanza declined to join the Circle and she admitted to knowing Rakepick. I know a lot of people think that it’s her, but if she’s a spy, she’s a pretty lousy one. Alanza is clear. 

Of the younger characters, the only one who isn’t canon is Beatrice. With how much focus she’s gotten, it’s a possibility. But she’s almost always under the watchful eye of Penny, or hanging with Ismelda. The only time she wasn’t, she nearly drowned in the Black Lake. She can’t even go to Hogsmeade, no way she’s meeting up with R in secret. Not to mention, she would never be on board with having her mind probed if she was the mole. Beatrice is clear. 

Regarding the rest of the Year 6 characters, Talbott and Chiara are both secretive and keep their distance from the group. But we already know why they do this, they have well-established backstories and character-based reasons for why they would. Beyond that, the mole should want to join the Circle. They should want access to that intel. Just like Alanza, Chiara didn’t even want to join at first. No, I’m gonna say Talbott and Chiara are clear.

I could go through every member of the Circle, but I’m going to streamline the process and say that I don’t believe it’s anyone who was introduced from Years 2-5. The way HPHM is written, the only characters who get major plot importance are the Year 1 characters,and the people who are “guest-starring” in the current year, who were introduced in that Year. I consider The Year characters to be possible suspects, but I’ve gone through why it won’t be them. Many people suspect Tulip, but when was the last time she was relevant? Or Barnaby, or Jae, or Badeea? Sorry, no way it’s anyone who guest starred in a past year. Let’s go through the Year One folk, because I believe it is one of them. 

Penny has simply never had the relevance that Ben and Merula have had. She didn’t even have a connection the plot prior to Year 5, prior to Beatrice’s introduction. I’ve talked about this before, but assuming you chose not to bring her along on any adventures, she could, in theory, but cut from the first four years, without the story changing much. Which is not to say Penny isn’t important, just that I don’t think she’s the mole. Penny is (basically) clear. 

Merula’s loyalty has always been questionable, even as a major of hers, I don’t deny this. I can believe that even now, she would work against MC. The only question then, is when did this start? Did Rakepick give her this job before the Portrait Vault? Was Merula in on that? It might explain why Rakepick told MC to look out for her. But we’re forgetting one key detail about this character. She’s a terrible liar. This has been well-established. Merula’s emotions get the better of her. She would have given herself away by now. If this theory is true, she would need to pull a serious long-con, and I just don’t believe she’s capable of doing that. Merula is clear.

Ben has always been suspicious. From Year 2 on, Rowan them-self suspected him. It’s abundantly clear that he’s keeping secrets. Who did he write that letter to, prior to the Portrait Vault? Why did he insist on coming? Does he remember the time that he was kidnapped, or not? Why did he panic upon seeing Rakepick for what we can only assume was the first time? He’s hiding something, definitely. However...Year 5 seemed to settle the question of “who’s side is he on?” by using Rowan to prove that R can and will Imperius people, and exonerating Ben from his time as the Red Cloak. What’s more...Rakepick aimed that curse at him. She tried to kill him outright, and she couldn’t have known that Rowan would rush in. She wouldn’t do that if he were the mole. Maybe Ben can be trusted, maybe not, but regarding this...Ben is clear.

But hold on, I said that I believed one of the Year 1 characters in the mole, didn’t I? And I do. I’ve talked about this before, but I sincerely believe that the Mole...is MC. 

Now, I’m not saying that MC is pulling a long-con, that they’ve always been loyal to R, and that even the player didn’t know it. That would be one hell of a twist by itself, but people would probably hate it. No, I think that MC is the mole...without knowing it. I have on many occasions, expressed doubts about Moody. I know he’s canon, but like I said, R has proven that they can and will use the Imperius Curse. That would be a way to use Moody as a secret villain without breaking canon, and it’s not like we haven’t seen that done before. Seriously, the way he’s acting in this game, particularly his encouragement of MC’s revenge and blood-lust? This reminds me more of Barty Crouch Jr’s impersonation than anything else. We know from the Weird Sister TLSQ that the Cabal was planning to contact Moody and “see what he knows” about the Sunken Vault, and the Coral Key. (A quest that, curiously, has since been removed, and it seems like they’re not putting it back. I wonder why...) At the end of Year 5, not long after Rakepick abandoned her role as R’s agent at Hogwarts, Moody shows up and abducts MC. Swearing them to secrecy, almost always insisting that they not tell Jacob and their friends important information, or otherwise encouraging them not to. Think about it, what new information has Moody actually provided? Compared to the fountain of intel that MC has been providing him, for no real reason. MC told him about the Circle almost immediately. Now, Moody isn’t the dark witch, but suppose she was the one who Imperius’d him? If my theory about this is true, then MC has been passing information to R, without their friends knowing, for this entire year. That would make them a mole. 

Of course, they have no idea. Which means that in this context, to call them a “mole” or a spy isn’t really accurate. It’s twisting the facts. But I firmly believe that’s the interpretation that we’re going with here. Which is a good lead-in to another phase of this theory that I have. Not only do I think R has been using MC as a mole, the way they’ve been using them as a weapon to open the Vaults this entire time...I also believe that R wanted MC to find out this bit of information. I believe that entire Infiltration was a trap, that R knew MC was there, and that it went exactly as they wanted it to. Setting aside my theory about Moody, I have to confess that the “advertisement” MC and Merula found at the Whomping Willow never made any sense to me, and felt like bait for a trap. Seriously, even if we ignore that the tip-off about The Whomping Willow being a secret meeting place was almost certainly referring to the Shrieking Shack, and not this...why would R do something like that? Leave a note like that out in the open, for any student or teacher to find? It’s not like dark witches and wizards are going to be prowling around Hogwarts that often. Wouldn’t it make way more sense to post that around say, Knockturn Alley? No, they wanted MC to find th at. Not to mention the tone of the note, “Dark wizards, come one, come all!” Please, if I’m a dark wizard, and I read that? My first thought is, “Well, this is clearly a sting. I’m not getting involved.” Not to mention, this wouldn’t be the first time MC tried to crash an R meeting based on written information that they supposedly left laying around. The Forbidden Forest was a trap, and Rowan paid the price. So why wouldn’t this be a trap? Sure, it seemed to go well...but I can’t help remembering the White-Robed Wizard’s line about how R would never let MC learn something that they didn’t want MC to know...

And that’s just it. They wanted MC to know that there was a mole. They wanted MC to tell the Circle that there was a mole. Moody instructed MC not to say anything about R wanting them to join and someday lead, but he didn’t tell them not to bring up the mole. Really, it isn’t so much that they wanted MC to know, it’s that they want the Circle to know. They want The Circle of Khanna to know there’s a mole. They want MC to find out about R’s plan for them, and they want MC to keep this plan from the Circle, so that when the time comes, R can drop this bomb. That MC is the mole, and always has been. MC can deny it of course, but what will they do when it comes out that they’ve been reporting to R (Through Moody) all this time? There’s a reason no one else is ever in those scenes - not even Jacob. There’s a reason Moody has been trying to put distance between MC and their friends. Imagine if The Circle finds out that MC knew R wanted to recruit them, and they said nothing? People have been speculating that MC losing a friend in an “unexpected way” might be referring to the mole, and how one of their friends is a traitor. But it could work in the opposite direction as well. If people find out that MC is a “traitor” I mean...how are Ben and Merula going to handle that news? Sure, some people might not immediately turn on MC, some people might believe them, or be uncertain...but R has been building up “evidence” of this for months, and Ben and Merula are both in a place of being so traumatized and unstable that they’d probably just buy it hook line and sinker. And they’re the co-leaders of the Circle. They might, at that point, kick MC out. Or at least call for a vote. 

And what happens if MC is expelled from the Circle? The very organization they formed to honor Rowan? They wouldn’t be able to investigate the Vaults anymore, because they’d be working against two secret organizations, one within the walls of Hogwarts. The Circle of Khanna, presuming MC to be a spy for R, would never let them within fifty feet of their investigation - hell, they could be the opponent that MC has to face, from the Centaur’s prophecy. (Or it could be R’s leader.) The Circle, at least initially, wouldn’t take MC back or trust them.  But the Cabal? Oh, you just know that they would open their arms to MC and welcome them to join, pointing out that they have nowhere else to go...not saying MC would agree to join them, but this could be R’s plan. This could be the big choice that MC has to make from the Centaur’s prophecy. Suppose Dumbledore was told by Circle members that MC is an R agent, and, oh I dunno...expels them as a result? We’ve all speculated than an expulsion arc is coming. If it is, that would be the perfect opportunity for R to try and get their claws into MC.

Day 8: Pet(s) and Magical Creature(s)

Whenever she's stressed or feeling a little blue, and no friend is around, Kary will always direct herself to her pets.

Salem was the first one to arrive in her life. She got it as a kitten at Diagon Alley, turning them into their best friend. Salem loves to sleep over Kary's face at night. And during the day... It just wanders in the castle. From time to time they bring her some... Gifts, aka preys.

Morty (Mortimer) was actually a surprise for her... One day she came back to the dorm and he was in her pillow, refusing to leave. At first it looked like a prank... But no one seemed to owned the poor toad. Eventually Kary and Salem adopted him.

Sickleworth and Barnaby Jr. are her unofficial adopted children, and she just take them out to spend some time.

Also... Kary's mom promise her an owl if she can take care of Morty. She does not know about the other two creatures.
