character(s) ; howdy pillar
outline ; “Howdy x reader just make it fluff.”
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
this man gives the most amazing hugs and he’s happy to hold onto you for as long as you need since his extra arms allow him to multitask
before you two were an item he used to slip up and refer to you as his ‘partner’ a lot when talking to the other neighbours — it got so bad that they knew you were going to be a thing before you did
always happy to lend a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on whenever there’s something bothering you — he’s also excellent at finding solutions if you need him to
makes sure that your favourite foods are always in stock, even preemptively ordering if he has a feeling you’re running low
he is surprisingly strong and is more than capable of picking you up and/or carrying you about if you need to reach something or if you need a break and are refusing to take it
you’ve always been his favourite customer so you get the best deals from him (don’t tell wally)
he’s the first to volunteer whenever you need a helping hand (or four) and will be there for you whenever he can be
whether that’s helping you rearrange your home, prepare for visitors, visit out of town to fetch something for a neighbour or so on
yours is the only number he has dedicated to memory (the others he keeps on a sticky note beside the phone) and he makes sure to call you every night for a good, old fashioned chat
he keeps the first picture you took together as a couple in his wallet so he always has something to make him smile whenever he’s feeling down
(or, alternatively, to stop him from smacking that tiny apple thief upside the head — you have to pay first wally!)
whenever he’s had a particularly difficult day, when his shift is over he’ll seek you out and kinda just collapse onto you, kneeling between your legs and just hugging you as he lets out this heavy sigh
the best way to help him de-stress is to massage his scalp and shoulders — the poor thing really needs a spa day, but the store won’t run itself
if you offer to help him run his store he’ll smile at you and just shake his head — he’s got this, he promises — but if you’re especially insistent he’ll be really flattered and just send you to run some errands
these errands usually involve helping eddie with deliveries or unboxing orders from out of town
he uses a lot of traditional nicknames with you (think ‘honey’ or ‘sweetheart’) alongside some nicknames based on inside jokes — which depends on the specifics of your relationship
he keeps some of your favourite sweet treats in the pocket of his apron so he’s always prepared to cheer you up when you’re upset

I've had a bit of artblock but here's an idea I had at school. (Accidentally deleted my first draft for this)
The viewer visits howdy when they're sad and he ends up having a nice surprise! (Cuddles :]/nsx)
Here's a small writing thing for it:
You couldn't get the thoughts to stop. It was like they were racing against each other and no one was winning. Nonetheless, you knew a certain someone who could help, a certain caterpillar if you will. You headed over to his shop gloomy and tired. Howdy could definitely tell a difference in your mood as you spoke. Of course besides body language and fighting back the tears, you couldn't ever keep your problems in around him whether it be by force or by ask, you'd always find him comforting and ready to listen. I mean he is a 7ft tall caterpillar too. Which was pretty cute considering his antennas moving with every reaction.
"Oh, I've got an idea. Why don't you stay after hours for a bit.. consider it my treat." Howdy smiled.
You let out a defeated sigh of relief. You weren't sure what he was planning, but you assumed the usual, talk, hug, and gifts. Of course with the sweet payment of your smile. After a while of looking around his shop and watching him interact with the other neighbors, some said hello, others waved. You hadn't really known when he gets off work, or routine, but he seemed to be slowing down so you assumed soon.
"It's okay. No need to worry or think fast. I'm here." Howdy whispered.
Man was his voice soothing you thought. It was a nice surprise walking in and seeing the pillows, snacks, the usual fluffy stuffed animals. You didn't expect him to actually invite you over to stay the night, but it was a lot more relaxing than you had ever imagined. The two of you spent time preparing for tomorrow, talking through your headaches, and at the end of the day you were snuggled between him with all four arms. Safely stuck.

Howdy Pillar X Gender Neutral Reader Part 2
CW/TW— None, just cute Howdy Pillar content!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Howdy couldn't help but think of how pretty you looked, but he didn't like that you looked so upset. So when he went up to you and you told him about your date standing you up he just knew he had to help you. He was happy you were willing to go on a date with him, in the end. He didn't think you would since people usually don't like him since he's a puppet. They try, then they end up standing him up since they can't come to terms with him being a puppet.
Gods, he almost couldn't stop looking at you the whole night, even when you teased him about what he ordered from the restaurant. He loved the slight flush that appeared on your cheeks when he teased you back, and how you smiled and laughed. You were so kind, and you were just everything he ever wanted.
Both of you were sad when the night came to an end, him walking you home. He didn't care how far it was, he wanted to make sure you were safe. You talked the entire way, asking questions and telling stories back and forth. He had to catch you before you fell from laughing too hard when he told of Wally taking apples from his store. He didn't see what was so amusing, but he was just happy to hear your laughter so he didn't mind.
He went home that night with your phone number in his phone and a promise to message or call you. He was advised to text, since you didn't care for calls that much, so he did just that. Two nights later, after building his confidence and calming his nerves, he messaged you.
[304-672-9961] Hello! It's me, Howdy!
[Bug] Oh, hey Howdy! You waited an awful long time, almost didn't think you'd message.
[Bug] changed [304-672-9961]'s name to
Pillar Man🐛
[Pillar Man🐛] I'm sorry, I was very nervous!
[Bug] Oh gee, it's alright! I was nervous myself.
[Pillar Man🐛] You were? Golly that's nice to hear. I was hoping that maybe we could go on another date?
[Pillar Man🐛] Only if you're comfortable, of course!
[Bug] I'd love to go on another date with you! When and where?
His face flushed and he smiled. He actually got to go on another date with you!
[Pillar Man🐛] You choose, since I chose last time!
[Bug] Okay, how about Thursday at, maybe 7 o'clock? P.M. I feel I should clarify. We can meet nearby, at the park?
[Pillar Man🐛] Oh, that sounds lovely! I shouldn't dress up fancy, should I?
[Bug] Oh, gods no! No matter how good you look in a suit, they just aren't all that comfortable.
[Pillar Man🐛] Oh my, well alright! I'll see you then, I suppose!
[Bug] Bye, Howdy.
His face was so flushed, oh dear! You thought he looked good in a suit! Two of his hands came up to hide his face, but the other two couldn't help but stim. He was so happy and excited! He hoped he could keep going on dates with you, maybe be in a relationship one day. He sighed at the thought, being able to just be happy with you and give you hugs and kisses and-
Oh dear, he didn't know his cheeks could get any warmer. He needed to calm down a moment so his cheeks could cool down, too.
Hello! Sorry it took me so long to get this part out despite it being so short. I didn't know what to do for it, and I ended up cycling through a few ideas before this came into existence.
I will be making a part three, and I hope you enjoyed!

Hey neighbour! I don't know if ur still taking request,,
Can I ask for a howdy x human! reader but the reader is seriously injured and they're from our world!
Maybe like, when the reader gets transported into Welcome home they get injured on the way?
Sure! This was actually pretty fun to do! I love this kind of trope! I didn't know if you wanted it platonic or romantic so I only made it platonic, I can always make it a romantic fic for Howdy later for you! I hope you enjoy!

Treated Injuries
__________________
Cw: Howdy Pillar x Injured Human!Reader, gender neutral reader, reader is from our world, getting transported, reader is seriously injured, mentions of blood, serious wounds, mentions of being attacked, reader gets stabbed, angst to fluff, platonic
___________________________________
You don't remember much about what happened or what was even going on, all you remember was someone blindfolding you from behind before getting attacked on your way home. Your were stomped on, kicked, punched, you even felt a knife dig itself into your skin forcing crimson red liquid to pour from your body.
By the end of the assault you were covered in wounds, blood and dirt. Dirt clung to your now messy (h/c) hair, and (s/c) skin. Blood stained your clothes, mixing with the dirt that laid on your skin and smudged across wounds. You could barely move. You felt like your dominant wrist was damaged, your leg was definitely broken from the odd bent it had, there was a large stab wound along your side, you could even feel bruising forming on your ribs. Blisters and bruises laced your lip as the blood ran down it dripping onto your clothes. You were in no position to get up. You couldn't even talk, most likely having messed up your vocal chords from how much you screamed. It felt like everything was out to get you.
Why did this have to happen to you of all people?
Why were you always the one in some form of pain?
As the questions of why this happened to you, you begun thinking back to your childhood when your life was at least a bit peaceful. You use to run around with friends, dance around to the music playing in the streets, eat junk and laugh, but there was one memory that you favored over the rest. It was the memory of you watching a show called "Welcome Home" the first time you met your favorite character, Howdy Pillar.
In the episode you vividly remembered Howdy refusing to let Wally inside due to the smaller male taking his apples the day before. The moment you laid eyes on him you knew he was going to be your favorite. Howdy was quick witted, charismatic and overall a joy to watch. It was always the light of your day watching Howdy scold Wally for knocking over his apples, handing out glitter glue to Sally for her plays, helping Julie pick out hair accessories, joking around with Barnaby and so much more. Tears welled in your (e/c) eyes slowly pouring down leaving wet streaks against your dirtied cheeks. What you would give to watch Howdy on your tv again. To watch him smile so kindly when helping his fellow residence. To be a kid again without a care in the world. As the thoughts of your mind began to grow your eyesight begun to blur, then your vision went black and no more thoughts plagued your mind.
Slowly you were awaken, hearing the sounds of muffled speech and soft mumbles. Bright light forced your eyes to stay mostly shut as you were faced with a red hot pain throughout your limbs. What was going on? Due to the light you couldn't open your eyes fully, but you could tell you were no longer on the street near your house. What even happened? You remembered getting attacked then things turning black, but you didn't remember getting moved or hearing sirens at all. So where were you?
Before you could think more, you heard a door open and soft footsteps coming near you. You braced yourself for the worst but you heard something click and through your most shut eyes you could see the lights had been dimmed. "I'm sorry about that, when Julie heard I brought someone back she immediately cut on the lights. I hope you aren't too upset about it." a gentle voice called out to you. Wait, did you know that voice? It sounded familiar but it was unclear why. Turning your head towards the voice, your eyes slowly opening trying to adjust to your environment.
When you opened your eyes you were met with a familiar face. Oh, so thats why the voice sounded so familiar. The green fleece skin, the blue pompadour, the four arms and legs. It was Howdy, Howdy Pillar from Welcome Home. But how? Where you dreaming? You went to speak, wanting to know what was going on only to feel a sharp pain go through your throat causing you to wince. Howdy's eyebrows furrowed a bit, one of his hands grabbing a glass of water from a table while another one held you up gently in a sitting position. The hand helped you drink the water, a few soft coughs escaped your lips after a few sips before Howdy sat the glass back down still holding you up.
"Your vocal chords are damaged, so I would hold off on talking for a bit." he started, his voiced laced with worry as he begun telling you about your body's current situation. "When I found you behind my shop you were badly hurt. You were covered in blood and unconscious so I brought you inside to get you fixed up. Your leg is broken, your wrist fracture, you have a large gash along your side and your ribs seem to be bruised." Howdy paused, his expression one full of concern. "I was worried, you seemed to have lost a lot of blood so I'm glad your awake. Do you feel any better?" he asked. The question making you nod your head a bit, the action made Howdy smile a bit, one that seemed to be out of relief.
"That's good." Howdy went to say something else before the look of concern quickly returned to his features. "Are you sure? Your crying." his voice was soft as he used one of his free hands to gently wipe your tears. You hadn't even realized you were crying, let alone shaking. Everything that had happened came at you like a brick and your body could make you do nothing but cry. Large globs of tears fell from your eyes at a fast pace as your body shook forcing broken sobs from your lips. Howdy said nothing instead opting to gently wrap his arms around you, holding you in a warm embrace. Your cheek laid against his chest, warm tears staining his apron. Your body hurt, hurt more than it ever had but you really couldn't think of that. Howdy's gentle embrace, soft patting of your head and kind praises filled your mind helping you find peace in such a dangerous and confusing situation.
Even if you couldn't see it, you could bet Howdy was worried that worry most likely showing on his face. Slowly lifting your head up, tears blurring your vision you expected a look of worry but instead you saw a small smile. A smile that held calmness even if you tell by his eyes he was concerned. He was smiling for you. He was trying to make you feel better by smiling. Something about his smile made you break out a wobbly smile of your own. Tears stained your face and from what you could see your bandages. Your nose was running, and you felt awful but Howdy didn't seem to care about your appearance. He only cared that you were safe and that was more than enough for you to feel some sort of relief from the horrid situation. You were attacked cut and dry. You were injured beyond belief but you were able to get something good out of it. You got to see Howdy. Even if it felt like a dream, you got to see the one thing you had always loved.
A gentle hand ran across your hair, pushig messy strands from your face while another one cleaned your tears with a sleeve. You felt a tissue press against your nose as you stared at Howdy. "Blow" he said softly, signalling for you to blow into the tissue which you did reluctantly. He asked this of you a few more times before you shook your head showing him you were fine. You were placed back on what you now knew was a bed, propping your body up with pillows for extra comfort. "I'm Howdy, Howdy Pillar it's nice to meet you (Y/n)." he said softly. Huh? How did he know your name. You must've had a look of confusion because Howdy chuckled pulling out your wallet showing your ID, drivers license and other identification. "I found out because of this." if you could sigh you would've but instead you nodded. Howdy smiled gently at you placing your wallet next to the glass of water on the table. He went to speak only to be cut off by the sound of knocking. Before Howdy could ask who it was, the door opened revealing two others you recognized as Wally Darling and Julie Joyful.
Julie must've opened the door while Wally stood beside her holding a basket. The smell of baked goods filled the room as Julie and Wally walked inside. "Hey Howdy! We brought some snacks Poppy made for our new neighbor!" Julie exclaimed, Wally held up the basket when the energetic girl spoke of snacks. "She wanted to make sure we got to them here before they got too cold!" Howdy nodded one of his hands reaching out for the basket which Wally handed over without much of a fuss. "I will set these with their other things, thanks you two." Howdy spoke kindly to the two individuals who now stood in the room. Julie smiled proudly while Wally turned his attention to you.
Quietly the small male padded his way over, placing a small box of flashcards on your lap. "Howdy told us you can't speak right now so Sally made flashcards for you so you could speak." Wally's soft voice told you about the kind bundle of sunshine; literally, who was nice enough to give you a way to communicate due to not being able to use your dominant hand from it's fracture. You smiled at the small male nodding your head showing your understanding. "That's enough now." Howdy spoke his hands pushing Wally and Julie out the door. "We should leave (Y/N) alone, they need rest." Wally nodded in agreement as Julie waved goodbye to you happily. "Bye bye (Y/N)! We'll come vist you later!" Julie's sweet voice called out from outside the room. "Get some rest." Wally stated, before walking out the room completely. Howdy sighed gently turning back to you. "I'll be back to check on you after I close up shop okay?" you nodded, smiling at Howdy who in turn smiled back once more. "Alright then, get some rest." and with that you were all alone. Even though you were alone you didn't feel lonely. Maybe it was the shock of what happened. Or maybe even the confusion but you felt more loved than you had in a while. If this was a dream you wanted it to last forever. Your eyes slowly closed, black clouding your vision as you rethought of Howdy's soft words from when you were crying.
"Don't cry, your safe now."

Characters involved: Wally Darling, Home, Julie Joyful, Frank Frankly, Howdy Pillar
Contents:
Dermatillomania (portrayed via fabric piling and cotton)
Fluff :D
Helping friends
Compulsions
Additional art at end jumpscare lol
Notes: This is my first time putting one of my fan fictions actually out in the world sooo any constructive criticism is appreciated. This is somewhat based on my own experiences with dermatillomania, and honestly I just kind of wanted some kind of outlet to share how I feel about it sometimes :,D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wally had woken up a little bit later than usual, but nothing would deter from the smiling summer day that the neighborhood had today. Home opened up one of its windows to let Wally have a nice breath of the morning summer air, and a small wave of heat rushed inside as Wally happily sighed. Crossing his arms over the windowsill, he felt something on his arm that had been unconsciously bothering him for months now. It seemed to have been piling from his fleece skin coming up again for Wally. It didn’t seem to bother Wally for the time being though, but Home was always concerned over Wally picking at the pilings. The piling picking would sometimes go to the point Wally would pick too hard and bits of his cotton insides would peek out.
Home warned through the creaking doors and floorboards for Wally to not pick at his arm this time around if he wanted to go outside with short sleeves today. Home also warned that he would dig too deep into his skin again and ruin his arm; “it’s done enough scarring to your beautiful skin already, Wally” Home creaked, pointing to the very tiny seams Home had to patch for him. Wally didn’t seem to fond of the idea of wearing his cardigan on an already warm day, but he didn’t seem fond of picking at his skin either, so he decided to wear his cardigan over a shorter sleeved white button up. Wally was going out to Howdy’s Place with Julie and Frank for smoothies and milkshakes, so Wally was more than eager to go outside and play.
After showering and preparing his hair, Wally was all dolled up to go and hang out with his friends. Wally stepped outside and waved goodbye to Home before going on his merry way. Although there was a nice breeze every now and then, the summer heat made Wally feel like he’d turn into butter if he didn’t find anything to cool him down. As Wally made his way to Howdy’s Place, he decided the cardigan was too much for him, and wrapped the cardigan around his waist. The summers heat felt so much better on Wally now that he didn’t have his wooly blue cardigan to retain heat.
The bell inside Howdy’s Place’s door gave a nice ring, and Wally stepped inside to see his friends waiting for him. Wally sighed and wiped the droplets of sweat off his forehead before sitting next to Julie. The three got Neapolitan milkshakes, but separate. Wally got a simple strawberry milkshake, Julie got a double chocolate milkshake, and Frank got a plain vanilla milkshake. Julie paid for the trio’s drinks, and thank the stars that Barnaby’s joke lessons are working out finally for her. After Howdy and the trio had quite the laugh from Julie’s jokes, Wally, Frank, and Julie happily enjoyed their milkshakes. While Julie yapped on and on to Frank about her summer plans, Wally once again crossed his arms as he happily enjoyed his milkshake. Whether he was aware of it or not, Wally felt the pilings on his arm again, and started to pick at it.
It didn’t hurt, but at the same time it did. It felt as if Wally was pricking his arm with a somewhat dull sewing needle all over his arm. He wasn’t doing much else while his friends talked and Howdy managed the store, but his focus was still on drinking his milkshake, so why was he picking at his skin? Perhaps it’s a need for perfection. How else was he going to get his arm smooth again from the piling? Wally didn’t feel exactly bad for doing it, but at the same time he did.
“Wally, are you doing alright there?” Frank asked as he looked over to Wally. Blinking from his state of thought, Wally looked back over to Julie and Frank. “Oh, yes! I am doing well.” Wally exclaimed monotonously. Wally uncrossed his arms, but still held onto his one arm that had all the piling, rubbing his thumb against it all. Julie tilted her head to side to take a look, and took note of how Wally rubbing his thumb against his arm. “Is your arm ok Wally? Can I see?” Julie asked curiously. Wally looked to the side in thought, and considering he can’t exactly hide his arm now that Julie’s curious about it. Julie holds her hand out kindly to Wally, and Wally allows Julie to see his arm, continuing to look away reluctantly.
Julie took a closer look at the pilings in an odd sense of curiosity. It seems like rainbow monsters like Julie haven’t been through anything like this before. Frank looked over from where he sat as Wally took back his arm to go back to his milkshake.
“You don’t have to be ashamed of it Wally.” Frank comforted to Wally. Wally looked back up from his milkshake to look at Frank, surprised at the words they had to say. “It’s something that’s compulsive to you, right?”
“Compulsive?” Wally asked as he tilted his head in question.
“Something you tend to do on repeat, regardless of how often you try to control it.” Frank explained calmly.
Wally understanding what the word meant now, he nodded his head a bit sadly, knowing what Frank described fits to Wally’s picking. “Hm…Well, you don’t have to feel sad about it!” Julie exclaimed to Wally.
“I don’t?” Wally asked.
“Not at all! If all that describes something compulsive, then that should mean that Frank and I’s flappy hands are compulsive too!” Julie said excitedly.
Wally and Frank laughed to Julie’s enthusiasm. “Well, you aren’t wrong in that sense Julie, no. Though it’s different to what Wally’s compulsions are, that being his skin picking.” Julie looks to Wally’s arm, then back to Wally.
“Does itttt..hurt whenever you pick at your skin Wally?” Julie asked curiously.
Wally shook his head no.
“It hurts, yes, but it only feels like a pinch every time.” Wally explains in his usual monotonous tone.
Julie tries to get an idea after learning this new information, and spins around on the barstool seat while sipping her milkshake. Glancing at the rack of sticker sheets Howdy has in his shop, the lightbulb flickers in her head with an idea. She quickly got down from her chair, grabbed a sticker pack, and went back to her seat.
“Hey Howdy! How much for the stickers?” Julie asked as she waved the sticker pack in the air.
“One joke per pack, Jules!” Howdy answered.
“….Well, whatdya call a sticker that’s always late?” Julie asked Howdy.
“Hmm, I dunno Jules, what do you call a sticker that’s always late?” Howdy questioned back.
“Stick around! It’ll show up eventually.” Julie answered.
Although it took a couple of seconds for Howdy and Frank to catch on, it was a holler and a half once they got the joke (Wally laughed, but he didn’t quite understand). Howdy wipes a tear from his eye from the laugh and settles down. “Oh boy, alright you won this one Julie. Now, whatdya need those stickers for anyway?” Howdy asked a bit puzzled.
Julie demonstrated by putting a sticker on her face, and slowly peeling it off. “I think that since there’s a little itty bitty bite of hurt whenever Wally picks at his skin, Wally can put these stickers on his arm! That way when he tries to pick at his skin, it won’t hurt as much!” Julie prompted. Wally and Howdy were bedazzled by the idea of using stickers on Wally’s arm to pick at rather than his own skin. “The peeling of the stickers could give the same stimulation Wally gets from digging into his skin to get the pilings off of him! Not a bad idea Julie.” Frank admitted.
Julie gave a little flappy hands to Frank’s approval of the idea, and turned to Wally for a true test of approval.
“What do you think Wally? Does it sound good to you?” Julie asked excitedly.
“That idea sounds like the absolute most! I think we should try it!” Wally said as he gave a happy nod in yes.
Julie jumped in joy as Wally said yes to her idea, and Julie, Frank, and Howdy all helped to cover Wally in as many stickers as he wanted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ll probably draw some art of the ending too where Howdy, Julie and Frank are putting stickers all over Wally :3

Thinking about Howdy and a farmer!reader wherein reader is Howdy's manufacturer of the fruits and vegetables in his shop, loves their company and having small talks whenever they visited his shop for some deliveries.
Howdy is indeed has a long-term crush on the reader and what better way to see if the reader is into him is by impressing them like carrying huge, heavy boxes full of apples from your truck intentionally rolling his sleeves to showcase his biceps 👀👀 or knowing more about agriculture since it's your hobby and your career path.
Bonus if he's likes your favorite animal/pet.
Little does he know is that the reader also liked him back and likes the view of his arms ehe (〃゚3゚〃)

Gotta say, I'm surprised and incredibly happy with how much y'all seemed to enjoy the first chapter! Don't know what I was so nervous about lol.
Right, as promised, chapter 2, and more soon to follow!
It would take some time after breakfast was already made and eaten before Frank felt ready to leave on their ill-fated grocery trip, continuously finding excuses to delay in little busywork around the house. Some cleaning here, reorganizing shelves of books, and gee I'm sure I must've left the oven on!
It couldn't be put off forever though. Eventually, he knew, Eddie would come back from his business, and Frank had to know before then. There'd be no leaving the house under the watchful eye of their beloved husband, no avoiding his questions when he spoke in that sweet, caring tone of voice. Frank loved the man, in part because of how deeply cherished he made them feel in return. It'd be cruel to hide the truth from him (if truth's what it was) and let him continue to think his lover was merely sick. Getting dressed for the day (he'd not be seen outside in PJs!) they donned a mask as well- for posterity's sake, and in case he really was contagious after all. Better safe than sorry.
After all of that, and with the heavy weight of finality in their chest, Frank stepped out through back door of the house and made his way towards Howdy's shop.
They knew by now that Eddie would've come and gone from there, likely voicing his concerns over Frank's current health to the resident shopkeep. Oh well, if Howdy gave him lip for being outside while sick, they had no trouble telling him to stuff it.
He was busy stocking shelves when Frank came in, hardly pausing when he saw them but still offering a chuckle. "Mornin' Frank, you look like shit." It was a friendly tradition between the two by now, and normally Frank would've responded with a roast of his own. But they had little energy for such things at the moment, his mind too tangled up in fears and what-if worries to try for an insult. Luckily, the bug did seem to get the message, and Frank could quickly slip unseen past the corner and into the pharmacy aisle.
There they were, the dreaded purple boxes. The thing that would soon decide his fate. Frank thought briefly about why their town's store would stock this many- there were only a few womb-havers here, and even fewer who'd realistically ever put the thing to use. Still, suppose they were there just in case. Just gotta grab one, they thought. Grab and b-
Buy it. Frank would need to buy the thing from Howdy. The idea had seemed doable in the abstract, but now that they were here...he couldn't do it. Having to look him in the eye, face his questions, try to make jokes...Frank swallowed hard, fighting the rising lump of bile. But he couldn't just walk out without it!
Glancing around quickly, they pressed himself close to the shelf, silently praying forgiveness for what he was about to do. A box was torn open at its seal, the contents swiftly stuffed into the waistline of their pants, and the empty shell stuffed behind the others as discreetly as he could manage.
His heart was racing with nervous excitement. They'd never stolen anything before. Should he just walk out like this? No no, surely that's too suspicious. Grabbing a bottle of cold medicine as pretense for being in that aisle, Frank walked through the rest of the shop as casually as he could manage, even as their mind screamed at each passing second.
Bunch of bananas (on sale!)
A loaf of bread.
Some cheese.
Four things was enough, right? Just a normal quick trip to the store, nothing weird with that. Nothing strange, he'd done nothing wrong.
The caterpillar had long since finished up restocking when Frank approached his counter, the normal indescribable level of snark in his eyes as he watched them. "All set?" he said, taking a look in the basket. "Not much today, eh?"
Frank let out a noise meant to be non-commital and bored, but ended up sounding more like they were suffering from stomach pain. Still, it worked somehow, earning little more than a raised eyebrow from the taller. "Yeesh, you do look terrible," he said, all teasing aside for a second as he spoke in genuine concern. "Tell ya what, I won't ask for a joke this time- tell me a fact. Know you're good for that, won't be hard on your noggin."
Oh if only you knew, Frank thought miserably, how hard everything is for me right now.
He racked their brain for a moment, trying to think of a fact he'd not told Howdy before. They'd told him plenty, it was after all the scientist's favorite activity. But for as many as had been told, Frank knew at least a dozen more.
"D-did you know that butterflies can't fly...if their body temperature is below 80 degrees?"
They tried to let his mind fall into the familiar rhythm of infodumping.
"Or no, wait, i-it was 65 I think. The uhh...the mucles don't..."
It didn't work.
Howdy seemed to mull over what Frank was saying, a comedically exaggerated look of concentration across his features. Frank had always hated that, how he and Barbie never seemed to take anything seriously even though there was plenty of serious stuff in their lives. What they hated even more though, was what happened next.
"So what if it's warmer than that? Does that mean more flight?"
Frank's heart sank. Oh no. He's got follow-up questions. On any other day they would've relished the chance to share more information. Now though, it felt like agony, the clock still ticking and ticking fast. "I think..." he started, but their mind was drawing blanks, stuck like a broken record on the singular thought of Oh God get me the fuck out of here. "I..."
Just then, sounds of the shop's only doors jangling open rang out from behind them, along with the cheerful-if-monotone call of "hello my lovely neighbors!"
Wally. Wally, the beautiful, darling little demon. Frank could almost have hugged the man if they weren't still pretending(?) to be sick. If anything at all could convince Howdy to take focus off of the grey, it would be the appearance of his boyfriend.
And sure enough, he did, a hand gently shoving Frank back with their groceries as the bug locked lips and eyes with his little man. Frank made a noise of pretended offense at this, though truth be told they were overjoyed for an opportunity to seize. "I'll take my leave since you two are clearly busy," he said, earning quick looks of embarassment (mostly from Wally.) Heart still racing and with a carefully measured step to avoid jostling free their secret "purchase", Frank walked through the door and headed home, praying they'd get there before Eddie did.

very pretty please with a cherry on top 🍒 could you write neighbours of your choice in a situation when their s/o cries infront of them for the first time? s/o usually is very though and brave but they got too emotionally exhausted :(
Yes ofcourse! I think this would be very interesting with how everyone is pretty much 24/7 (except frank)
• Wally Darling x Reader !
• Howdy Pillar x Reader !
•Reader has unspecified gender and will be written as they/them !
• Fluff Angst comfort !
『Wally Darling』
• The first time he had met you, you emediantly became someone everyone could rely on. Even him.
• You've never seemed to break down your tough walls, and became a person everyone in the neighborhood could go for advice.
• Wally himself, has had probably cried infront of you before, but no one hes seenbyou cry before yet. Not even him.
• So when you finally broke down your walls infront of him, he almost didn't know what to do, but mirrored your past actions whenever someone came to you for comfort.
• He felt bad for not really necessary checking up on you, he gave you one of his apples and he'd try to cheer you up.
• " S/O? Oh dear! I- it's okay, stay calm, everything's fine. I- I-.. do you want an apple, love? "
• Overall, he loves you. And appreciates you for feeling comfortable enough to cry infront of him.
• And he wants to be there for you, like you've been for him.
『Howdy Pillar』

• he as probably cried infront of you aswell, many people have gone to you for advice, even him sometimes.
•There was atleast two times in a week were someone would come to his s/o for advice.

we are each waves and also the ocean
(ao3) (au link)
It was a quiet day in the neighbourhood, and Barnaby looked out the window from his kitchen. The sun was shining, it was about midday... and the neighbours were throwing a party?
part of my mlpth au for welcome home but can be read as standalone! please send me asks about this AU :)
tags: barnaby-centric, minor references to hello puppets, fluff
It was a quiet day in the neighbourhood, and Barnaby looked out the window from his kitchen. The sun was shining, it was about midday, and he had just got back from the shops, where Howdy was busy working. He was spending the early afternoon washing and preparing the fruit and vegetables he had just bought. The chopping motions were soothing, and it was warm enough that he could leave his window open. The neighbour felt like it bustled more than the farm back home ever did, with all its chatter and gossip, and its contact with the other local neighbourhoods. Plenty of people visited their neighbourhood, either to shop or to simply chat with the residents and so there was always noise, the space always lively, and all the houses were close enough together that the lively chatter could be heard from Barnaby's house. And it was always pleasant. The noise got louder, reaching a crescendo, and Barnaby wiped off his hands before walking out into the town centre.
The town centre was, in actuality, pretty small, just like the neighbourhood, but to Barnaby, it seemed huge. There was a fountain in the centre, but the space was also filled with familiar faces - and a few new ones. The plaza was filled with the sound of music, as what Barnaby recognised as one of Julie's siblings if the hair was anything to go by, was singing into a microphone. They were shorter than Barnaby, although that was hardly saying much, and wore a ruffled dress, that faded from orange to yellow, making them look more like a sunset than a puppet, especially with that sparkle in their eye. The melody was bright, and almost jazz-like in the swing of it, and it made you want to get up and start moving, which some of the other people in the square appeared to have already been doing. Barnaby watched Eddie coax Frank into dancing, Julie pushing him further into dancing quite literally, as he stumbled into Eddie's open arms. Frank's face was blushing bright red, and he moved a little awkwardly, yet Eddie just seemed to find it more endearing as he whisked him away to the swing of the music. Frank accidentally hit Wally in an attempt to follow Eddie's dance moves, letting out a very strangled, "Sorry!" as he went by. Wally just smiled back, in what Barnaby thought was that adorable way of his, and continued talking to somebody that Barnaby had never seen before.
He was an older man, his hair greyed and sticking out on either side of his head, with a little purple top hat resting on his head. He was wearing an old-fashioned suit, in a dark cool purple, and that, paired with his monocle, made him feel slightly out of place within the Neighbourhood. There was a woman standing next to him, with a mop of ginger hair on her head, and in a very badly stained lab coat - a scientist of some sort, then - who seemed to want to interject but thought better of it, and kept rolling her eyes at her companion's answers. She kept moving her hands oddly, seemingly seeking something to hold on to at her hip, and coming up short. These people seemed to be new to the neighbourhood, but somehow knew Wally - were they old friends, or even his family perhaps? Barnaby had always thought it odd that Wally had never mentioned any of his relatives, but he didn't want to open a can of worms that Wally would rather he didn't, so he never asked, but by the looks of it they were close, with Wally listening intently to the mans every word, and even when the woman interjected with a snide comment towards him, Wally would laugh good-naturedly. They seemed to be... okay.
Just next to their little group, Howdy was leaning outside the open window of his shop, talking to Sally and Poppy. Howdy made eye contact with Barnaby and waved, and Barnaby walked on over.
"Hey y'all, how's it going?" Barnaby greeted standing on the other side of Howdy, across from Sally and Poppy. The stand seemed to have changed what it was selling since Barnaby was here earlier and now had an array of snacks and drinks, and there was even a small freezer full of ice cream and lollies. Clearly, everyone was celebrating something, and Barnaby was so confused as to how he could have missed it.
Howdy greeted him warmly and offered him a drink. Barnaby accepted and let the conversation wash over him. As he sipped his drink, he caught up with his friends, listening to their stories about the latest happenings in the neighbourhood. The party was in full swing, and Barnaby felt grateful to be a part of such a close-knit and welcoming community.
Suddenly, the music stopped, and a voice boomed through the speakers. "Neighbours and friends, may I have your attention please?" It was Wally, his striped suit glinting in the daylight. "Thank you for coming out today. Our neighbourhood is truly a special place, and events like this remind us of that!"
The crowd erupted into cheers, and the music started up again. Barnaby felt a sense of belonging and happiness wash over him as he danced and laughed with his neighbours. He knew that he had made the right choice in moving to this neighbourhood, and he felt lucky to call it his home. Although, he still had no idea what the event was for.

Stood Up
CW/TW - None!
Part 3
Summery: You and Howdy go on a date at the park to get to know each other a little more. Silly stories are told and laughter takes over for a bit. A few days later you meet his sister! You spend the day with the siblings and take them to make their first Build-a-Bear! And more romance on the drive home!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Getting ready on Thursday made Howdy feel like he was a nervous wreck (he was). He, after spending nearly an hour getting ready, finally chose his outfit for the day: A white long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows with a pastel yellow sweater vest paired with a pair of light blue jeans. His antennae twitched nervously, and he checked himself one more time in the mirror. He double checked his hair and his clothes, and made sure the flowers were right.
Taking a deep breath, he walked out the front door and locked it behind him.
When you set up this date, you were excited, but now? You were an anxious mess while waiting at the park for Howdy. You tried taking a few deep breaths, but it didn’t help too much, just as you were getting ready to plug in your headphones and listen to some music to calm down, you saw him walking towards you. That is, until he stopped and stared at you. You were confused and worried he didn’t like your outfit before you saw the blush making itself known on his cheeks. You smiled, nervous and flustered. He looked so handsome; you just couldn’t help but smile as you felt a blush warm your cheeks. You cleared your throat and walked closer to him, “Are you alright, Howdy?” You had to look up at him, but you could see him break from his trance and his blush darken.
He chuckled, one of his hands coming up to rub the back of his neck while another presented a beautiful bouquet of red and pink camellias, red and white carnations, dandelions, forget-me-nots, gloxinias, jonquils, and spider flowers. It was a lovely bouquet, even if the flowers seemed a bit random. You brought the flowers up and smiled as you smelled them, “Oh, they're lovely. How did you choose what flowers to use?” You couldn’t deny that you were curious about the seemingly random arrangement.
He giggled and all his hands laced together as he began playing with his fingers. Even from his voice you could tell he was a little embarrassed, “I, uh, did some research into the meanings of different flowers...” He trailed off as he ducked his head, which admittedly didn’t work because of his height. You cooed, “Thank you so much. I've never had someone put in so much effort for me...” You looked adoringly at the flowers, softly caressing their petals.
Howdy smiled at you. He was so happy you liked the bouquet that he let out a quiet sigh of relief before dusting off his clothes. “So, uh, what's the plan?” he asked with a tilt of his head. You looked up at him through your lashes and he swore that if he had a heart, it would have skipped a beat. You smiled and offered a hand for him to hold, which he happily took, and you started walking down the path, “Well, I was thinking that maybe we could go for a walk and get to know each other? If that’s okay with you...?” You looked hesitant and he hated the look on you. “I love that idea, bug.” His voice was soft and reassuring when he spoke. He started to softly rub the back of your hand with his thumb. You grinned up at him and he smiled back at you.
You hummed, looking around as you started to wander down a more wooded section of the path. “Have you any funny childhood stories?” You looked up at him curiously. He chuckled, “Who doesn’t?” You laughed and nodded, “Everyone has them, but do you wanna share some of yours?” He could see the hope in your eyes, and he couldn’t just say no!
He nodded with a smile, “I don’t see why not! Let's see, what’s a good one...” he trailed off for a minute before perking up, “Oh! I know! Okay, so when I was younger, and I mean a small little puppet, I would get in to all sorts of trouble.” You looked at him surprised and he noticed. He laughed, pulling you away from the edge of the sidewalk as he ducked under a few taller tree branches, “Yeah, I was a hand full, and despite how tall I am now I was a small kid. This meant that I could hide in places others couldn’t get to. Well, one day I decided to hide in the upper cabinet because I didn’t want a haircut.” He couldn’t help but smile and giggle when you laughed.
You wiped a tear from your eye and took a breather for a second. “Really? You hid from going and getting a haircut?” You had to hold back another fit of giggles as he nodded matter-of-factly. “Yep, I liked my hair as it was back then, it was fun to play with. That and my fuzz was off in places because I had a habit of accidentally cutting it with scissors...” he flushed a little and grinned. Both of you let out a nose of surprise as he walked face-first into a tree branch. He looked surprised and stunned. You started laughing, continuing to hold onto his hand even as you nearly buckled in a fit of laughter.
He seemed to break out of his stunned silence as he started his own fit of giggles, bending down to hold you up with a pair of his arms and moving the tree branch with his fourth arm. He managed to lead you both to a bench where you both calmed down. Neither of you talked for a few minutes, taking a moment to regain the air lost in your laughing fits.
He started his story again, faint chuckles interrupting him a few times, “Eventually though, my mother found me. I ended up scaring the wings off her and missing my appointment! I still had to go a few days later, but it was delayed a little and that was fine in my young mind.” You wheezed and giggled. He smiled and his arms hovered around you to ensure he could catch you if you fell.
Both of you told silly stories from your youth and had to stop a few times from laughing too hard. Eventually, you circled around back to the entrance of the park. “I had fun today.” he muttered. He still held your hand, even lightly squeezing periodically. You smiled and hugged him, taking a deep breath and squeezing him a little. He tensed up, not expecting the hug, but happily returned the embrace.
You let go first, sadly, and took a couple steps back. You had a faint blush covering your cheeks as you smiled, “I had fun too. I'll see you around, and maybe we can have a few more? Dates, I mean.” Howdy quickly nodded, his smile could rival the sun and you almost wished you had sunglasses. You said your final goodbye and started your walk home.
He watched you walk away for a moment before turning to walk to his own home.
It turned out you didn’t live that far away from Howdy. You both found this out when, a few days later, Howdy was playing with his little sister outside. He had been asked to babysit while his parents went on a date and he happily agreed. You happened to be walking by when you saw the pair outside. He had lifted her up and was spinning with her in a pair of his arms. His other pair of arms was splayed out at his sides, helping him keep his balance. You had stopped to watch and didn’t notice the sweet and absolute love-drunk smile adorning your features.
You didn’t even seem to stop the thought that he would make a good dad as it came to the front of your mind. Your own thoughts surprised you and you yelped. Howdy obviously looked over and smiled when he saw you, but he was curious why you were blushing so furiously. You looked like a strawberry! He made quick work of getting to you, his sister held in two of his arms as he brought a hand to your cheek. He asked if you were okay and your blush darkened as you squeaked out, “Yes!” He looked at you skeptically, but backed away a little.
After taking a moment to calm down, you looked at Howdy little sister. She was a small caterpillar similar is color to Howdy, just with a darker green for skin and a beautiful deep navy blue for hair. She looked at you with wonder and you smiled. “Hiya, honey. What’s you’re name?” Your voice was sweet and calm, but she hid in Howdy's arms and looked at you through her lashes. She looked up at Howdy and he nodded with a small smile, “Go ahead, They’re okay.” She nodded, gaining some bravery, and asked to be put down so she could introduce herself. She grinned, holding out a hand to shake, “My name is Heya! You’re very pretty!” You chuckled and took her hand, instead picking her up. You gently booped her nose. “Why thank you. Heya is a very pretty name.” You looked at Howdy as you finished your sentence, your grin teasing, “I see that greetings run in the family for names?” He smiled and nodded. “Mama just likes them, I guess.”
You, despite your other possible plans for the day, ended up spending a good portion of the day with the pair. You still got your shopping done, but you also came out with a bunch of snacks for Heya. She just had the cutest little puppy-dog eyes! You couldn’t resist!
You three had all sorts of fun. You went to the park, of course the grocery store, you even took them to the mall! Yeah, turns out Howdy nor Heya knew what a mall was.
“Holy moly! This place is big!” Heya proclaimed. Her eyes had stars in them as she looked around in wonder, being careful not to fall out of your arms. You giggled and looked over to see Howdy’s reaction, but he was looking at you. He had a soft smile on his face and you blushed, ducking your head with a flustered smile. “It looks fun, bug.” He was looking at the nearby map now with his own blush. Just then, Heya tried to jump out of your arms and run over to where Howdy was standing. You put her down and she ran over to the map, pointing at one of the labels on it, “Can we go here? Can we, please?” She looked between you and Howdy in eager anticipation.
You looked at Howdy playfully, “She’s spoiled, isn’t she?” He laughed and nodded, “Very. Yeah, we can go as long it's okay with bug, okay?” He didn’t even get to finish before she was next to you. You made a show of sighing and nodding. “Fine, we can go,” you look over to Howdy, “where does she want to go?” He looked at the map before chuckling, “Build-a-Bear Workshop? What is that?” You looked at him, completely shocked and partially offended. You grabbed one of Howdy’s hands one of Heya’s, leading them with confidence. “We are going and we are all making one.” You spoke with a finality that Howdy couldn't bring himself to argue against, not that he was going to, of course.
When the three of you walked in, Heya let go of your hand and ran over to the bins to see what plushies they had. You squeezed Howdy’s hand and lead him over there too to search the bins. “Okay, just find an animal you like, okay?” you instructed. He nodded and started looking through the bins. You took a minute to pick your own before looking at their choices. Heya chose a mint axolotl and Howdy chose toothless. You nodded and brought them over to a few stands. “Okay, before we get them stuffed, we need to pick out a scent and a heart for them.” The siblings looked at each other and nodded, looking through the scents after easily choosing a heart. You finished first, knowing what scent you wanted as soon as this place was mentioned.
After scents and voice messages for hearts were recorded, you walked them over to the stuffing station. “Okay Heya, give the nice lady your axolotl.” you didn’t finish before she had already given it to the worker. Heya watched with wonder as the animal was filled with stuffing. Before the animal was closed, Heya was instructed to give the heart a kiss and the scent and heart were put inside. The plush was given back to her and she hugged it to her chest. You went next, kissing the heart and putting the scent and heart inside.
Howdy’s turn came and he chatted with Heya as his was filled. He kissed his heart and the heart and scent were put inside. You guided them to the “washing” station and showed them how to "clean" their new stuffed animals. You and Heya both picked out some accessories and clothes for your plushies.
Howdy bought the plushies even though you said you would. It was sweet, though. He carried his and Heya’s animals and you carried yours. The three of you walked out to Howdy’s car, buckling in and starting the drive home. Not long after the drive started Heya fell asleep holding her axolotl, who she lovingly named Bubbles, to her chest.
It was quiet for a little bit, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Howdy started to blush a little, one of his arms reaching over to gently hold your hand. He started to softly rub the back of your palm with his thumb, “Hey, bug?” You hummed, turning your full attention to him. He, of course, kept his eyes on the road as he spoke but his eyes would flick over to you. “Uh, I know we’ve only gone on a couple dates, but um...” he trailed off, his cheeks darkening in color and his ears starting to change color too. You started blushing too, squeezing his hand anxiously. “Ah, I'm sorry. I'm not very good at this,” he chuckled and cleared his throat, “Ahem, would...Would you be mine? My partner?”
You could feel your cheeks warm further and a happy laugh build in your throat. “I would love to be yours, Howdy Pillar. If I could hug you I would, but you are driving and that is not a good idea. At all” You knew you had a huge smile of your face, but you also saw the smile on his face. He chuckled too, his eyes flicking over to you again before he pulled into his driveway, “You can give me that hug now!” You practically threw off your seatbelt and threw your arms around him. He laughed and returned the hug. It was a little uncomfortable but neither of you cared.
I hope you all enjoyed! I made this one longer since i realized i got distracted for two weeks. Sorry about that, by the way. This is 2,521 words! This is also for the Anon that requested i do part 3. I’m terribly sorry I’ve been so distracted, but my cat is pregnant and is due any day now. I’ve just been preparing and i got a little side tracked. I’ve also been cleaning out the family storage room with my brother and cousin and it tends to leave me tired. Oh! Before i forget, my requests are open!
Its fun to see what you all want or to see your amazing ideas! Have a good 24 hours!
