The DDH is the first national hotline dedicated to providing 24/7 disaster crisis counseling to all residents in the U.S. and its territories.

Cumulohimbus' Almost* Infinite Fantasy Name/Word Generator

*It is technically infinite, just only for the Latin alphabet. Sorry...I too deeply wish I was multilingual.

Do you find that random name generators online oftentimes just don't cut it when you're trying to build a fictional universe and create characters? Perhaps you are also like me and hesitate to use any of the results you generated because they don't feel original enough? Or maybe you also operate with the "I'm not making up the story, I'm just telling it" creation mindset, where you rely solely on "feeling out" the details of your narrative/world/characters/etc.? Then this resource might be exactly the thing you didn't know you've been needing.

Admittedly it's not as simple as clicking "Generate", but it's still super easy to use and you can still get a pool of results relatively quickly (the latter really depends on you and how many results you generate at a time). I'm sure there's a way to make a functional application with the same data set that would do all the work for you, though that is a bit out of my knowledge and capabilities for right now, and automating it would almost certainly negate how customizable it is currently.

The generator works like a sort of mega Punnet square with numbered lists containing strings of letters that I refer to as "limbs". You use a random number generator to get a set of numbers, then record the corresponding "limbs", and finally mix and match the "limbs" to your heart's content until you get a combination that hits exactly the right vibes. The broadness of this generator's data set and the fact that you, the user, are the one putting together the "limb" combinations (and making any edits that you desire along the way to make your generations more aesthetically appealing) means that you have a direct hand in the creation process. Therefore, using this resource is guilt-free, and you don't have to deal with feeling like you're taking something from a specially designed, more limited generator data set.

This is free for everyone to use, and you do not have to credit me if you use it (you can if you want to, but since it contains every conceivable phonetically plausible sequence of letters in the Latin alphabet it would be ridiculous for me to ask for credit lol). I made this initially to help me create character and place names for my various projects, and it's turned out to be far too useful to keep solely to myself. Please share it with anyone else you think will enjoy it!

Also, I acknowledge that in its current state it is not the most accessible to everyone. Editing the document causes a lot of lag due to the lengthy numbered lists, so trying to adjust the formatting is a pain in the rear that I unfortunately don't have the time for right now. However, if it gets a lot of traffic, I will deeply consider moving it to a designated website and taking the time to make it more disability-friendly in the process.
