Characters - Etho/Joel Words - 527 Time - 20 mins Content - Royal AU

“You look lonely.”

Joel looks up and his lips part, the name drying on his lips. Playful, teasing eyes twinkle at him, much closer than they should be. And he can even feel the warmth of someone near. 

It all sends his senses into overdrive. 

Etho chuckles quietly, taking a side-step closer still. “Alone tonight? I can help with that.”

Joel squeezes the glass of his now warm mocktail, holding his breath as he looks around. He can see people looking at them, murmuring and whispering, judgement in their eyes. Their hushed words ring in his ears, sending his heart into a thundering mess that begs him to leave. 

He drops his gaze to the ground, staring at his shoes. Polished leather against polished floors, his reflection staring back at him, looking like a stranger. There is a knot on his throat and a burning in his eyes, a hiccup where his words are meant to be and a pit in his gut. 

“Leave me alone,” he mouths the first lie, hoping and knowing it will not be enough. He knows Etho, knows him like the back of his hand and knows him from the back rooms where they hid to fool around instead of attending their lessons. “...Please.”

The world stops but Etho stays, in place and stubborn as he knows him. Joel screws his eyes shut, pleading in his head that Etho goes and finds someone else. Make the ringing stop, all the poisoned whispers and jabbing glances. He begs his feet to move, begs the world to swallow him whole and end this charade. 

“I’m not made for this,” he whispers, a dry chuckle following his words. It rakes on his lips, every word more painful. “All this seriousness,” he chuckles again, smirking at the idiocy of it all, “it’s not for me. I’m– This, us was never meant to—”

“You talk too much,” Etho cuts in. 

In a flash, Etho grabs Joel’s wrist, Joel stunned. Etho pulls him firmly, a stupid smile plastered on his face when Joel snaps up to see him. 

The face he knows, the one no one but him knows. Smiling back at him, like always, promising an unchanging world. Not quite devotion, not yet marital commitment, but something too close for comfort. 

“I’d marry you right here and right now,” Etho says, loud enough that it draws gasps from the people they pass. Fancy gowns and fancy suits, all turning to follow their path. Joel looks at them panicked, jumping between baffled faces and Etho’s profile. “Is that what you want?”

Joel’s answer dies on his tongue. And he dies a little when Etho looks back at him with mischief, that stupid smirk that sends butterflies to his stomach. The most familiar form of reassurance he knows. 

“No?” Etho laughs. “Fine, I can wait.”

Joel opens his mouth to say something, but Etho lifts his hand, kissing the back of it. 

“Don’t worry,” Etho says as Joel’s face warms up, forgetting where they are and ignoring where they are going, “I’m kissing you later. A lot, just so you know. I am going to kiss you so much.”

Late(ish) at night gman ramblings time

Honestly I have yet to find a popular theory as to what Gman is that actually feels like. right to me. Like some of them are neat ideas, if put into something fan made, but if it turned out to be canon, most of the outcomes i've seen feel like they'd be super disappointing, in my opinion of course.

I've seen theories about Gman being a Shu'ulathoi that shapeshifted into a humanoid form, and while the idea is novel, I honestly feel as though it. limits him too much. It removes the mystery aspect of him because now we know what he is, and what his motivations are. Like, if Valve ever truly confirmed that Gman is some sort of alien species that we can easily pinpoint, or even one we've seen before, it would feel like it's putting gman in a box that doesn't fit him.

To me, Gman is best left unknowable. He is a species that only has one member (maybe), he doesn't have a set true (or at least comprehensible) form, but he's definitely not human. He doesn't have a name, he has no set species that aligns with anything we have seen so far. An eldritch entity that is outside what we have observed within the Half Life universe. As much as I would love to learn more about Gman, I also fear the mystery of him being removed and overall making him feel less like a cosmic threat.

Overall I don't personally think most of the theories explaining what he could possibly be are correct for him. He is nothing, yet everything at the same time. True ambiguity.

So I was thinking about the whole elves-being-naturally-prettier-than-humans thing because that was always sort of weird to me when I FINALLY think I figured it out.

Humans used to know about the elves, and there are some things they still remember—hence myths about Atlantis and such. Reality is, humans and elves resembled each other in a lot of ways, but elves put themselves on a pedestal as better than every other species (that’s, like, canon, and better be addressed more fully at some point?) and that’s probably a part of the reasons humans “betrayed” the elves—they got sick of hearing that elves were better.

But it was just sort of implanted in their minds, though they weren’t fans of the idea, and elves didn’t go to great lengths to erase that idea from their minds. So humans remember myths and some things about elves, and Atlantis being the underwater city………and beauty standards.

It’s not that elves are naturally prettier than humans. It’s that human beauty standards are shaped around the natural looks of elves.

Clear Skin Manifestation Challenge

Join me in a clear skin manifestation challenge!!! Having clear skin doesn't need to be difficult, the reason by it becomes difficult is because of our beliefs. This isn't to say it's your fault, it's just that our limiting beliefs are stopping us from being the best versions of ourselves. But you know what? You have the ability to change all of that! You get to decide how your skin is.

Decide it. Accept it, FEEL IT!!!!!

So, for 2 weeks, let's do this challenge together and achieve the best glowy skin ever!

You in two weeks ----> (or should I say "you right now" because we already got that glowing skin!!!)

Step ONE:

To start off, get a clear image of your skin. What do you look like now that you have the most gorgeous clear skin??? How does it feel?? Do you feel absolutely gorgeous and confident? Do you smile confidently knowing your skin is literally GLOWING?????? LIVE IN THE FEELING. When you open your eyes, continue to live in the feeling. Don't be distracted by the 3D world, it doesn't matter, you are now living in the skin of your dreams, so act like it!!

Step TWO:

Once you've had a clear vision, strut like you have it. Act like it, talk like it. Look at yourself in the mirror and say, "damn girl, your skin is glowing!!!!" Who cares if the 3D isn't showing it? It's a reflection of the past, it literally does not matter.

Now, before you go saying "But I wanna see it in the 3d!!!!" Girl, you will! Live in the feeling of the wish fulfilled and it has to happen! It's literally inevitable!

Step THREE:

OKAY IMPORTANT NOTE HERE. You can do methods if you want, robotic affirmation, gratitude, 369 method, whatever but get your mindset STRAIGHT.

Whenever you do methods affirmations, don't do it from a place of trying to get something. Don't have the mindset of "if I listen to this subliminal for 20 minutes, or do this method I'll GET clear skin." NO. If you do this, then you'll always be in the state of trying and not HAVING.

YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO GIVE YOURSELF WHATEVER YOU WANT>

You don't have to wait for the universe or divine timing. You give yourself what you want. How do you do this?

FEELING.

Why do you want clear skin? You want it to feel good. Well guess what? You can feel good now. You can feel confident and gorgeous now. Feel it like you already have it. Give yourself that feeling. Visualize just because it makes you feel good, not to try and manifest something.

When you stop trying to manifest and allow you to give yourself all the feelings that come along with clear skin, you're telling the universe that you already have clear skin.

And when you decide, the universe delivers!

So, the take away is:

IT'S ALREADY DONE. THAT'S IT!!!! It doesn't even have to be 2 weeks, you've got clear skin now!!!! Whoo hoo!

Live in the end.

Do methods that make you FEEL GOOD>

Imagine that all the food you are eating is clearing your skin. Be so grateful for it's healing energy and embrace it.

Embrace yourself and your skin.

It is done.
