Pick your faves of my faves game

Challenge: make a poll with five of your all time favourite characters, and then tag five people to do the same. See which character is everyone's favourite.

Thanks for the tag @killiru! I had a REALLY hard time deciding, because I love so many characters, side characters and more from each series. I nearly cheated and put 6 in there, but I was a good girl and stuck to the limit. Where's my cookie?

I love Khun Yai because he is the greenest of green flags. He is my boy, my hero and a cutie. I love him with all my heart. So he was a no brainer. Unfortunately, I wanted to bring variety to the poll so that meant an instant out for Jom and Khun James. ;_; But I love them all <3

Uea was my second no-brainer. I LOVE UEA. He is so soft and at the same time strong and I wish to hug him tight and long. He deserves the world and I know King is giving it to him.

Now here things start to get hard. I love Cher. But I also love Mew. If in doubt, I always like the cheerful characters more, so I picked Cher. But then I thought of Gun and... Wow. It was hard. Cher won in the end, because I love his bubbly character and hard work. (And I love Book, duh.)

Here, I picked Tian, because 1000 stars is probably one of my most-watched series (together with IFYLITA, Vice Versa and Bed Friend and soon We Are). It's mostly because I love Tian and his evolution. He is a good character, he is so strong and sweet. I just love him <3

The last spot is only last, because I absolutely couldn't decide between P'Q and Peem. I was so close to cheating and simply adding 6 characters. Because I really love them both so so much and I couldn't decide. I only went for Peem because I have more of his gifs saved on my phone than from Q. I'll also have an easier time deciding who I like more once the series has ended. For now, Peem is taking the win. Because he is soft but also decisive, he shows his boundaries and has pride in what he does and how he lives. He is a cutie pie with everyone and I love seeing him take care of everyone. Also, how he works with his art is just good to see. I love him <3

not enough discussion about the gavins' complicated relationship with feminine-coded/beauty products, i don't think.

#for klavier because it's not as direct it's about how we never see him actually wearing lipstick? even though apollo literally attends #a concert of his which is where you'd most expect him to wear makeup. but apparently he just doesnt. or at least not in public #klavier gavin #kristoph gavin #i feel like there are several ways you can read into it. the misogyny/toxic masculinity one is really obvious clearly with kristoph's #singling out of men specifically and klavier's (probably accidental?) condescending manner of calling women 'fraulein' plus his general #mildly patronising attitude towards many of the women in the game (also probably unintentional)#(i think he's trying to be charming and it's coming off wrong to some of them. like ema. and me.)#but i feel like there's also maybe an element of... inherent perfecfionism to it? like both of these products are conventionally beautifyin #products and kristoph while he is open to showing people he uses nail polish specifically chooses one that's clear and missable unless you #see him apply it. he also feels the need to justify his use of it and specifically spell it out as something he chooses to do rather than #needs to do even though duh. that should be obvious.#idk there's just something about his seeming need to take control of that narrative that i find interesting. his need to spin it into a #'there's nothing wrong with my nails but I had the foresight to see that even the smallest parts of my appearance should be kept immaculate #and it's a choice i'm making to refine an already adequate part of my personage /not/ to cover some unsightly defect.' the need to emphasis #that specifically is so. hm. and with klavier i could see it being a case of him liking makeup liking the pops of colour yet being unwillin #to admit to it because he's afraid that other people might see it as him being dissatisfied with his own appearance regardless of if he is #or isn't. or even just perceiving colourful makeup as being unseemly because it's so overt and unnatural.#like i can see this as them both viewing 'real' beauty to be that which is inherent to a person and seemingly effortless #thus somehow negating the beauty which one achieves through cosmetics or other external means.#and if you want to use external means to achieve beauty or neatness or whatever then your only valid options are those which blend into you #natural state. like clear nail polish. or really awful spray tan.#i feel like klavier's less confined by these ideas (if they hold merit at all) considering he actually owns coloured lipstick and he wears #jewellery (admittedly quite 'masculine' jewellery no gems or pearls or anything like that but jewellery nonetheless) but i think it just #makes it more interesting that he doesnt seem quite able to cross the line anyway. like it's that ingrained into his system.#anyway that's all i've got. you guys should tell me what you think too #annotations

you don't need a sous vide machine to sou vie! all you need is some plastic freezer bags and like, a cheap digital thermometer (and a pot for water). you might need to get finicky by adding water to the pot during the process to keep the water a consistent temp.

May I recommend carefully putting eggs in a bag, putting a thermometer in water, then boiling the egg bag while watching it carefully whilst it rises to temperature? Also keep in mind that any significant mistake in this process will simply result in the worlds largest and least appetizing hardboiled egg clusterfuck.

Also I have to include this somewhere—it’s my civil duty as a Puzzle enjoyer. Behold the really poorly rushed Procreate photo mashup edits of Puzzles that I snuck into animation as a fun goofy Easteregg detail lol. Same thing with the SMG3 plushie in the corner—although he was included solely because I noticed other people had him in their MAP parts. So I wanted to keep a little continuity going to connect all parts together. We love sillies here <3

I love Steph's origin as told in the Secret Origins 80 page giant- I just overall think it strengthens her character by giving her a lot of pathos and adding to her heroism (which isn't something writers were focused on in her actual intro in detective comics #647 since she was just meant to act as a plot device back then) BUT there is one tiny detail in it i will begrudge, and that is the portrayal of her having a minor love at first sight moment for tim

Mostly because Stephanie showed no interest in her introduction and only showed romantic feelings towards Tim AFTER this moment here:

Straight up the progression here goes:

The adventure in 'tec where they first meet -> Tim investigating the same crime scene as Steph -> she beats him up not knowing it's him at first, apologizes but says he shouldn't have scared her -> he remembers her/the moniker she goes by -> they talk about plot for a few pages -> Stephanie starts flirting

Which...is so fascinating to me and says so much about Stephanie. She highlights the fact that Tim "remembered" her. Like. Steph. Girl. This is our bar? It's sweet but kind of speaks to how much Stephanie is ignored at home/how little and sporadically she's shown interacting with her peers (and rarely ever the same kids twice). Her idea of peak romance is just...being on someone's mind even when you're not there.

Kind of also adds layers to Steph's proclivity towards jealousy later on, a manifestation of her insecurity and loneliness (though don't get it twisted, she's not written this way bc Dixon and co think it's an interesting character flaw, they wrote it bc they think it's an inherent character flaw of (particularly young) women/girls, which is very apparent in how he approaches Ariana's character as well from what I've read)

Also the fact that Steph becomes so smitten for Tim almost immediately after this is (a few issues later she aggressively flirts with him during AN ACTIVE HOSTAGE SITUATION. WHERE SHE'S THE HOSTAGE) again is kind of a mixture of kind of funny and sad. One boy is nice to her once and she's fully ready to wife him. Girl you are deranged (affectionate) (concerned)
