I can't believe someone used Ai for make one concept art for Sonic 3...

Worst of all, I can't belive I'm defending the use of it this time lol.

But for a fair reason, the images here are not purely Ai generated. It's pure alquimia between human artistic habilites and artificial inteligence.

As someone who has studied what a concept artist do, I have to tell you somenthing: this is the kind of artist who most steal and recicle in the whole artist kindom.

If you enter in the profile of this guy, you will notice that he's not a random Ai bro working for Paramount, he's the designer of the eclipse canon, the crab, the crab inside, the early concept of gun base and more. And no, that art is not Ai generated, is purely handmade.

Then, why is the art of Shadow breaking from the prission partially Ai generated if this person is a profesional artist and he could have perfecly made the whole thing by it's own?

Well, I have a silly theory: Japan and Shadow aldeady exist.

I know it sounds like a pretty lame excuse but think about it: the shot the hybird Ai piece is representing is very short in the film. It doesn't have much detail, just Shadow standing at Japan backyards so you don't need to see his face. Shadow, a character that has aldeady been created before. And Japan, a place that already exist. I would like to intuit that this concept was specialy made for stablish a camera angle and position. The work of a concept artist is not to make the art look pretty, is to make funcional drawings that explain things. (And also this artist is specialiced in machines and enviroments specialy so maybe it was also convenient for him to create a Shadow placeholder with Ai instead of drawing the whole thing by his own. If Ai didn't existed I'm pretty sure that he would have used the character 3D model as base for edit that instead)

I have to mention too that the generated Ai Shadow was edited and recicled for convenience acording to the concept necesities like, look at this two pictures. It uses the same base⬇

This is the first time I saw that Ai has an oportunity for be ethical by making the work of an actual artist shorter and easy. I told you before that concept artist are the ones that steal and recicle the most, right? Do you know why is that? Exaclty, for survive deadlines in artistic works. Crunch is that normalized that even Schools teach you how to cheat in concept art.

I find these types of examples as something important to analyze as a concept artist to learn how to use Ai as what it really is: a tool for make our jobs more easy.

Extra note: do not cheat like this if you are still forming yourselve, this tricks are just for save time and you wouldn't learn any art experience from it.

(Also in case any generative Ai bro is watching this: No, don't get your hopes high. You cannot create a proyect purley using Ai and spect it to have sense/be good. You have to still touch a pencil and learn art principles)

I want to chime in to the ''AI debate'' to cut the debate on the whole ''but these machines are inspired by art just like humans are!'' from root.

THAT'S NOT THE DISCUSSION HERE. This is not a philosophy debate. There's an active, material WORKERS RIGHTS issue here.

These are companies straight up using artists's work without licensing or compensation to cleanly do what's basically a collage of all their works and then profiting off it.

They are actively and consciously trying to cut the labor from artists, illustrators and visual developers from all industries that need our work to exist by stealing their already existing copyright.

And yes, the artists who are currently suing and on the frontlines against this DO know how these AI systems work. It's not a mystery. Go check out Karla Ortiz (& co) exposition on it in front of the US Senate.

The outrage isn't based on some unfounded fear. It's based on knowledge from experienced artists on how our process works and how it's very different from this "AI". It's not artificial inteligence yet. It's prompts that the machine uses to create from a database of already existing, non-consenting artists.

The outrage is based on the fact that some of these prompts are literally artists names, deceased or alive, none of them compensated. This was a conscious decision made fully aware that it was a legal iffy zone. Since "AI" hasn't been legislated yet and there's no regulations, they took advantage of the legal grey zone.

So. This isn't a "human insecure they're replaced by a machine" issue. This is a "workers's copyright is infringed by companies and individuals who seize a legal grey-zone to profit off using their non-consensual, unpaid work" issue.

The whole "bohoo it works just like inspiration!" argument is a misdirection the people who are actively profiting off this labor theft throw to distract and create a debate of something that isn't debatable.

And also? It's incorrect. That's... not how "inspiration" works. The closest example to what Midjourney, etc do would be if I as a working artist did photobashing and tracing from other known artists, without any processing of an idea, without any comprehension of form and meaning. That is... 1) Impossible. Any human artist de facto needs to put some level of thought, decision and idea - even if they're just making a collage. These servers do not have intelligence , no matter the name, to make decisions. They work by inputs. 2) If the photobashing or tracing is based from non-licensed pictures, that would get the human artist into legal trouble or, at the very least, put them in murky waters. See the Kevin Bao scandal.

TLDR; The current fight from working artists against Midjourney, StableDiffusion and "AI" generators is about these companies building their databases from unlicensed, unpaid work by artists who have not consented to this use in any shape of form and then actively wanting to profit off this work. It's not a philosophy debate. It's not insecurity.

Stop debating the meaning of inspiration. It's a distraction from the real material issue here: copyright theft to replace labor from those copyright holders.

something about Fusionsprunt that i often think about, is this contrast between human conscience and artificial inteligence, in which one of them is far more 'genuine' than the other, therefore valid. in the original context, Hunter is a human man whose brain was tranferred into the skull cavity of a robotic body, while B2 is an android manufactured to undergo the human experience in an attempt to answer the question 'how far can technology go, until you're unable to discern a man from a robot'.

when i think about these two characters living their everyday lives, turns out both are selfish, reckless, mean and stubborn, and that is comforting to me. both are making mistakes and being embarassing and not realizing it until later.

that's why, i don't like the thought that Hunter, a 'genuine' conscience, taught anything about living to B2, that he acted as some kind of mentor or guide. idk if he was ever asked to try he'd wait 5 minutes and ago fuck it i have no fucking clue. not to mention he wasn't there when she was created. he did acknowledge her existence, but he never doubted her capacity to feel or experience sorrow and frustration — though he did, unfortunately, took advantage of her programming to hide the truth for all those years the war against Bortom city took place.

on the other side, B2 isn't necessarily clueless or 'numb in an endearing way'. it can be difficult for her to understand complex emotions that are not hers, much like it is for us when someone explains a situation that we are often times unfamiliar with. B2 is not the only, but one of the examples the abstract idea that objects 'feel' when they're given emotions — not always in a literal sense.

sometimes we create things, and they will come to life, and these living things we created will also create other living things, and so on. it's not so far from what we think it makes us human. to sum it up, concepts have mingled (and that's not a bad thing, in this case).

in the end, there's truly no way to discern machine from flesh. Hunter and B2 are both lost and found, numb (due to trauma lol) and vigorous, selfish and altruistic, a little bit of everything simultaneosly. they're also the society they live in, the people they met, and they're also each other.

Starting for Pancho as an individual/character, he's quite a weird one because he spends so much time with humans, which means a physical (while he has a suit, it's the equivalent of a human wearing a scuba or space suit, a very intensive activity) mental (learning human languages and cultures) and psychological (dealing with porteños) toll. The fact that he does it almost everyday is something that he gets teased for by his family even. He does have a genuine friendship with the rest, but there are many things where they don't "click", not only because he's a dolphin, but also because of his philosophical mentality.

As for where did they come from, that's a part of the backstory I'm still working on -his species might be the result of a rogue biopunk project- , but he's not the only one. All Franciscana dolphins are protected by Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil and considered persons. Cetaceans in general are considered persons all over the world, with some even creating their own goverments, like the Barrier Reef Republic of mostly bottlenose dolphins, and others remaining far away from "civilization", like orcas and most baleen whales. This all gets into human politics, too, as cetaceans, being undersea citizens, can also be used as an excuse to project state power over the oceans, ongoing legal actions against former whaling nations, the nature of citizenship, nationhood and equality in a world were humans are no longer the only sapient species, or were ever they?...

Besides cetaceans, there are lots of other sea creatures that have been artificially evolved into inteligence, including octopi, seals, sentient sea sponge "computers", and a few others. There are also several kinds of "merpeople", humans who adapted themselves to water living, and a lot of floating sea settlements, or like in the Paraná and Río de La Plata, treebuildings drifiting by the rivers, also in Lake Maracaibo, the Amazon, and all over the Atlantic coast of South America... Undersea living is less common except in very shallow seas, but there's always rumors that things are lurking down there; indeed, it was submarines in hiding after WWIII that kept attacking long after the war was over.

The poster is supposed to summarize the whole content of the presentation and allude to the way artificial intelligence works – when it combines and overlays the source data in various ways to create a final image that meets the prompt. ... Keogh (2021) also states that people who create games, play them, and do both not only establish an industry but also constitute a cultural field. When it comes to explaining gaming in Melbourne, the term “scene” is essential. According to Keogh (2021: 211), a scene refers to various communities or networks of people, and it emerges ‘from the excesses of sociability that surround the pursuit of interests, or which fuel ongoing innovation and experimentation within the cultural life of cities’. Interacting with both videogame industry and their own local context leads to the development of the gaming society.

These days, Game AI plays a vital role in developing computer games. Game AI is a collective term for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computational Intelligence (CI), and Machine Learning (ML) in games (Riedl and Zook 2013). According to Riedl and Zook (2013), Game AI was initially meant to support the interaction between players and the game itself, but recently, it has engaged in the procedural content generation to support the developer. In the future, Riedl and Zook (2013) predict that intelligent systems of Game AI will support all processes of game production from game creation to operation. In this case, I wonder how the “scene” will work for both Game AI and human game creators.

Okay, let me tell you something.

I have seen so many people shitting on die ärzte and this video on many social media platforms just because it uses AI, and it's really starting to grind my gears, and I cannot keep my mouth shut anymore.

Disclaimer: Know that I AM against so-called AI art and AI generated texts and whatnot, because a computer cannot create new things from scratch and everything it creates is based on data it has collected, and all that data is created by humans, because also the computers and AI was built by humans. I'm also terrified of the amount of AI "photos", because I personally find it difficult or even impossible to tell them apart from real ones, and I wish I could, but I just can't. There was an article on AI generated images, texts and audios on my country's news broadcast website, and it had a test where you had to choose whether a "photo" was real or made with AI, or to choose the AI one from several. I failed miserably. So it is dangerous what comes to misinformation and all that jazz.

Talking of misinformation, I feel that also the anti-AI posts on Tumblr are spreading a shitload of misinformation, and people just see the word AI and jump on the "we hate AI here bandwagon" without really understanding what AI is.

I'm no expert on this either, but let's just say I'm an older millenial, grew up in the time when internet was reaching the regular person's home (in Europe), and currently I am a media student so I have some knowledge over the tools and methods used in the media field, where AI generators and AI tools are getting more and more popular, unfortunately.

You know that all computers are AI, right? People have worked on AI as a concept since the 1940s. Scifi books and movies and other medias have bee playing with the idea of an artificial inteligence for ages, most stories ending up with machines taking over humans. (You know, in the music video description, HAL 9000 is the evil AI/computer antagonist of the 60s film 2001: Space Odyssey; and Skynet is the somewhat evil network in Terminator franchise that was going to destroy the world. In the mv, both films were referenced, and so was Matrix, and maybe some others.)

All these random-ass tools and apps we call as AI today have gotten so huge over the past few years, and the word AI alone has become a trend word and a marketing hack. All these companies working on software programs have noticed this, and realized they can profit off of the word. A company such as Adobe realized "hey, what if we call this old af tool 'uses AI to select objects!' in this new update, people will buy our product more for sure!". Their competitors noticed it, and went "shit, Adobe* is using AI, we better do that too". Becaue AI = profit. But is that really AI? Well, technically yes, but it doesn't mean "this computer generates stolen art". It means "this tool has always existed in this software but the code is made better as technology gets better" and guess what: it has always been AI, sorta. It has always been that computer doing the task, but now we just call it AI instead because it's Trendy™️. And more profit for companies selling these products yadayada. It's still a different thing from an AI GENERATOR. That fetches the data collected and created by humans.

At school we use Adobe products, and I hate the fact it's promoting AI in everything. It's literally calling features that have existed for a long time, as AI. But it also keeps introducing more and more AI generator type features to their softwares. At school we're taught about AI, we are taught how to use Midjourney among others, we're literally having media professionals promoting AI generator tools. Media companies use AI generator tools even! And it sucks, and I personally have chosen to not touch those even with a long stick after I found out they just use existing data and art humans created.

Now, to the music video. What exactly is AI in this video? To that I don't have proper answers, only guesses, but I wish I knew more. I tried looking into this, but I wasn't able to find much anything. I'm still going to do my best and analyze the video, and break it down to what I could find.

I found the director's Instagram and his posts always mention the people who have worked on the videos with him. This is what is written to the descs of DEMOKRATIE clips:

You see it already? "Created and directed by" and just his name. Meaning, there was no crew. "Why not hire an artist, then?!" you may ask. Well, as a media student and a hobbyist, let me explain some things:

Hiring people costs money, depending on the person, they might be in a financial situation where hiring is not an option. Especially if you're a freelancer of any sort. (Now, I know this director has made massive videos for ages, but you never know what kind of situation someone might be in as in media and art business nothing is ever certain.) [However, companies that already sit on a mountain of money should be forbidden from using AI etc. and forced to hire real people instead.]

The deadlines, which I assume were very strict and quick. You know how much times goes into creating an animation? Depending on the method, you can spend hours on drawing frames that become a video that lasts 10 seconds. Let alone a video that consist of tons of scenes and lasts over 4 minutes.

This used existing music videos and sure, you could trace those down, but it would still take time because you would have to go through the clips frame by frame, and the framerate of music videos in Europe is usually 25 FPS (frames by second), so 10 seconds of video is already 250 frames, as in images, to trace down. For this we've got tools that now people love to call as AI and think it's the same as an AI generator.

I really wish I knew more of the process of making the video, but I feel that so many people think this video was completely written, "drawn" and edited by an AI. That's... just not possible. The AI as we know it, is not that advanced yet really. I'm not so experienced with AI generators and other tools, but this video was way too structured and made too much sense to be by AI alone. It matches with the lyrics too well, so it was definitely cut and edited by a human being. It uses German and English sometimes, as in real alphabets, which AI can't do -> edited by a human being.

And with this next one I'm not sure if it's supposed to resemble Greek alphabets, or if it's just AI not understing any kind of alphabets. But we can still read it, right?

And it's got the Gwendoline logo right, too.

I really wish there was some sort of a behind-the-scenes thingy for this video as I'd be so curious to know how this was done. If we look at how the video is promoted on the website and Youtube desc, it says this:

It says "AI has recalculated die ärzte", which is why I assume they used some sort of AI to create the new fake dä. As I said, I haven't used the AI tools much because I don't like them and prefer doing everything myself, so I'm not sure what they're capable of today. My first thought was that he just fed the videos to AI to get them out with a cartoon filter on them. I'm not sure if you can do that in these softwares already. I would not be surprised if, say Adobe After Effects, had some sort of "turn your videos into paintings!" AI feature in it. They already advertise rotoscoping and tracking as AI, which it technically is because it's the computer doing the motion tracking but as I said, AI is the trend word so it sounds "cooler" and more profitable if they mention AI at the side too.

What comes to the rest of it, it's edited by a human being FOR SURE. I know that today AI can do some cutting for a video, but it can mostly just do stuff like cut out silent parts of a video if it's e.g. a podcast, but it still has to be reviewed by a human being because it might also miscalculate and cut out bits a human being would keep in the video. But it cannot take clips and edit them into together. It can create a video from a prompt, but it cannot build a video from other videos, and that is EXACTLY what this video is: it's built from pieces that are different video clips. So so so many different video clips.

My last point with this video is that, as the description says too, it is really fitting. Does Die Ärzte using AI generated video mean they support AI generators? No. Is it a statement? Could be! There are constantly news about governments using AI to monitor and track and literally spy on their people. Something that is forbidden in EU due to privacy, but it does happen in the US (not sure about Canada), Russia, China... you name it. And then the fake news, you literally cannot trust anything on the internet anymore because a news article could have been written by an AI. Or someone creates a photo or article with an AI and spreads it as a fact. Or they post it as fake, but it's not clear enough so someone else takes it as real. GOOGLE does this nowadays, it just references articles and uses photos without fact-checking and you literally cannot trust any first results anymore, because the chances are that it is not real.

I feel that this was another point the band wanted to make with this video. AI is everywhere, and it's not necessarily a good thing. It says Fake-DÄ fighting against fake-news. It's the same case as just because someone writes a book about a murdered, does not mean the author is a murderer. A band can make a music video with AI to have a statement, and not support AI generated art.

Things are not so black&white.

A/N 2 : This is just something to make you grasp the idea behind the story. The next chapters are going to go back in time to properly deal with the timeline and events.

Yeah, if you haven't already guessed I'm laughing because at this point nothing seems real anymore and if I wasn't laughing at the irony I would probably start crying, screaming and then jump our of the window.

Let me give you a quick introduction into my life, so you could understand me better.

Hi,

my name is Y/N and I'm a citizen developer. Which means I pretty much do everything that has to do with IT, Artificial Inteligence, programming, computers and programming. I loved my job to the point where I was spending hours and hours in front of the screen to be the very best. And truly, finally I got to the top. At the age of 21 I was a most-known in my profession.

And that got me some attention.

Did I mention I was born and living in Gotham?

So, perhaps you guessed who was the guy that gave me my first job?

No?

Well, it was Bruce Wayne. Yes, Wayne as in Wayne Enterprises.

Oh, god, I was on cloud nine being able to put my hands on all that technology, give my ideas and finally having someone to listen and apreciate them. I upgraded it, gave a bit of personal touch to the systems and god, it was amazing., I felt like I was where I belonged.

Bruce, however reserved and distant he was soon started to treat me like his own daughter. I mean, what else can you expect from a relationship between a CEO who spend most of his time with the youngest IT who also happened to be a half-orphan?

So, soon, he let me into the Wayne Manor, where I met his adopted son, Dick. Quite different than his parential figure, but pretty much the same with distant and pushing away. I didn't force him. It took us half a year to become some sort of friends and another half a year to fall truly, madly, deeply in love. No irony here. We spend a lot of time together. Or at least as much as our busy schedules allowed us to. Dick was a detective with crazy work hours, both night and day so when I get the chance I worked from the Manor, even when Bruce was not content with it.

Now that I think about it, i wonder how love-blinded I was.

That's when the story starts to go downhill.

When I was 23, Wayne Enterprises' tech department, with me leading it, introduced some new prototype. The whole project was on the highest security level, full NDA and confidentiality, so from some point the only people involved in the details were me and Bruce. I was literally sunsine and rainbows I get to be involved, hell! be the head of the assignment.

Until I got myself in trouble walking home from work at late night.

Remember, it was Gotham City and I was overwhelmed with our success.

So, due to my absent-mindedness some assaulters came right at me, grabbing both of my arms and dragging me into the dark alley. Of course I was figthing back, screaming and squirming, but what can one girl do in confrontation with 3 pretty beefy men?

Yes, three points for the right answer. NOTHING.

I was pretty much saying goodbye to my life (or at least my sexual health and good memories in that aspect - thank you, Dick Grayson for giving me them) when Gotham's heroes - Batman and Robin decided to show up, blowing everything and beating the assaulters to shit. Maybe they exaggareted a bit, after all those men were not criminals, and there was no need to knock them unconscious and that made me wonder. Still a bit overwhelmed I looked around and then I spotted Batman's new gear. Based on the technology I created.

So there were two, maybe three options:

Batman stole the technology from Wayne, and therefore he was not a hero everyone believed him to

Batman got the techonology from Wayne and therefore Bruce knew Batman's identity (Bruce would never let anyone, even the hero got it without checking all the details)

Bruce was Batman.......

"Bruce......?"

"Y/N."

"What is going on here?" I took a step back and bumped into wall

"Let me explain it to you....."

"Y/N!" another voice came from my right and before I realised what was happening, another caped vigilante was holding me close to his chest, his warm embrace being oddly famliiar. "Are you alright?" Robin's hands started caressing my back, his breaht ticking my face.

Holy fuck!

If Bruce was Batman than .....

"Dick?" my eyes went wide. Stupid, stupid girl! You should have known!

"Are you all right?" he asked again, a mix of desperation and remorse in his voice.

"Yes. I mean, no. I mean, I don't know. What is this? some sort of Surprise Sur Price?"

"Let us explain...." Dick took a quick glance at Batman Bruce who nodded

"Not here. It's not safe."

NOT SAFE!?

"Y/N." Dick took my hand squizing it gently, but lovingly "come on, baby, let's get you out of here."

"Um, well, okey...."

They got me to the Manor and then, since the secret was out and in their own words, they trusted me, I got a quick tour around the batcave. Yeah, they trusted me so much they kept their second life in secret for two fucking years! How is that trust?! I felt betrayed, played with, used, you name it. All that anger made me cry and clench my fist at the same time, my face going red and my heart at the edge of literally breaking.

"Talk to her." apparently that was too much for Bruce, since he decided to let my boyfriend deal with the damage. "You're off the patrol tonigh. Just make sure she'll be fine."

Oh, quite a conversation it was. However, at first not many words were used..... Anger, or rather fury, found another way out......But, when we both calmed down enough to use our mouths to actually echange full sentences it was all painfully clear.

The problem about heroes comes down to the fact that when being torn between their mission and the person they love ,they always choose the duty. And Dick did exactly that when he decided to sweet talk all my worries and cover up the truth for two whole years. That was sad. But, trying to be rational, I didn't scream or blame him. To some point I understood his motives, I mean, as a gotham citizen. As his girlfiriend I could not. I stayed in the manor until he felt asleep in his serene belief we were fine now.

We weren't.

I left Gotham that nigh, leaving him a letter explaing why I had to do this and kindly asking him not to look for me. The thought of the heartbreak he had to go through must have been soul-piercing. At least that's how it was for me when I found myself in Hell's kitchen trying to put my life together and move on.

I found a new job, but it was not the same without him.

And then Matt Murdock came into my life. He was such a nice guy, With an opinion amongst girls, as his best friend Foggy told me. Well, I was not going to fall for him. I had my walls high. Matt and Foggy were both lawyers and a bit of tech was kind of useful in this profession so soon we were working together. As friends. But clearly it was not enough for Matt. We were working late in his aparment, foggy has already left and I was picking my stuff to go home as well, already halfway to the door when Murdock yanked me back by my hand and kissed me with the most knee-buckling, hot, passionate kiss. You know, the one when you just reciprocate in an instant, no need to process what the hell is going on, while the other person's hand sneak around you pulling you closer. At first, i just let him caress my body, but quickly fall on the concrete.

"Stay with me...." he whispered against my lips

"Matt...." I pushed him away and he backed out immidiately

"I'm sorry Y/N. I didn't mean to push you, but I just... I have so many feeligns for you."

"No, I'm sorry. I'm just..... not ready. Yet."

"Yet?" damn lawyers

"Yet" I smiled lightly to defuse the tension

"Well then, I'm not giving up on you".

You know the saying "the history repeats itself?" Well it really does. I learned that in a painfull way, when a month later it turned out Matt Murdock was the devil of hell's kitchen. DAREDEVIL for fuck's sake. What was wrong with me and why the hell was I attracting vigilantes from the whole damn country?!

At least I didn't have to get myself in trouble to get to know his secret identity.

Oh no.

This was much worse when he stumbled into my apartment at 3 a.m. waking me up, in not so pleasant way, al bloody and on the verge of life. Yeah, we.... well, we had an argument. But somehow, he convinced me to stay. Something Dick couldn't do in the past. He never asked me to stay.

So I give in to the hope that this time it would be diffent. And I stayed, ready to fight for whatever was blooming between us.

And I was happy-ish to work through it with him.

And I was slowly moving on.

Until one evening, half a year after I left Gotham the past came knocking at my door.

Literally.

I was at my apartment, working and cuddling with Matt when the noice from outside made me get up and open.

"Y/N...... I found you...."

Dick fucking Grayson was at my door.

"Y/N...." he whispered tenderly "I need you back. I want you back with me...."

"Y/N? who is that?" in a blink of an eye Matt was by my side and at this point I was just turning my gaze from one guy to another in shock.

"Who the fuck are you?" Dick hissed

"Well I could ask you the same question" Matt retorted coldly

"I'm her boyfriend" ok, now it was Robin talking

"Funny thing, because that is who I am." hello, Daredevil, nice to see you woke up as well. I guess it was automatic - when Dick went into vigilante mode, Matt responded with exact the same.

"Guys....." I tried to stop them, but they did not let me.

"So you must be the ex?" Matt smirked

"You know about me? Does she moan my name when you two....."

"Ok! Ok! That is enough!" ultimately I got their attention, pretty sure I was red as an apple due to Dick's words.

Now.

I was the only thing standing between two vigilantes in their full-on fighting mode, ready to kill each other .

Why im not liking Zero One

Sorry I just have to take this opinion out!! And this will be large... please, excuse me!

Now that Zero One is in his second quarter... we can clearly say that the series is not beginning and see more or less what to expect.

I wanted to do ep reviews as i did with Build... but i stopped in ep 3 or 4 (i dont remember). Because im not enjoying so much the series. Is curious how i see almost everyone saying how great it is... but i dont see that greatness. Once again may be this is just a matter of like and preferences, and ofcourse they are valid... but i see in Zero One mistakes that no other KR series have done. In fact i think Zio was a better show than Zero One... and Zio definitely had alot of inconsistences and mistakes, so saying this... is alot. We have begun the Reiwa era of Kamen Rider series with the wrong foot!

Before some one excuse Zero One with the comment that is a kids show... in fact the beauty of Tokusatsu shows is that they are aimed for kids (generaly), but adults can watch it and enjoying like a kid does. I think the most important part of a toku show is the message, no matter if they are made for sale toys, they have beautiful messages, they teach awesome values to kids and adults. Now probably this is the most big mistake that Zero One is doing... giving a wrong message. And may be this is just my perception but let me explain the mistakes that im seeing in Zero One that are conected to the message:

a) Unknow protagonist: I exposed this before... but i will say it again, where and with who Aruto lives? and why is so important to know this? There are stories that this is not important but in a plot like Zero One’s, it’s important... and alot because the series is about his family bussiness. To this point of the series... ep 16-17 are alot of tiny but significant things of Aruto that are unknow. Basic things that makes us conect with the protagonist like a place called home?, friends? people that he interacted before? No matter if all the important plot revelation will be about Aruto’s story... to this point... not knowing our protagonist is a big NO. I can’t connect with Aruto, can’t like him because i not know him.

b) Bad use of the cast: Zero One forcibly want to keep the premise that there are three bands: Hiden, AIMS and Metsuborinjai (ZAIA). The show keep saying to us: Aruto only have Izu and only Izu (even the opening show us this). Fuwa is alone wolf. Yua could be a team with Fuwa sometimes. And there are the bad guys that are working for the big evil.

Aruto don’t question anything, all the powerups are with out a lessons, everything is given to him in a silver tray by Izu. Izu is just a cute robo girl that does everything for the protagonist (a perfect fabricated waifu for boys). Fuwa is your hot blooded character that will not change no matter what?! (very manly). Yua is the rude and inteligent girl that we don’t know anything about (because she was created only for be the waifu for the girls). Jin and Horobi are the cool and the most interesting villains with potential that will be set aside by a white Kuroto.

All this makes the cast don’t interact in the episodes (even in Zio they interacted more) and when they do... are just for explain things. The only good interaction was between Metsuborinjai... because they felt like a family, they had a bond may be artificial but Jin and Horobi were father and son. Jin was a child that didnt knew anything. And they were left aside by a plain character that we didnt knew since the beginning.

I keep saying: Zero One needs more cast. Because even if Aruto have Izu... i feel he doesnt have a friend. Izu dont make Aruto character shine, she just make Aruto character worse. (sorry Izu, is not you, are the people who created you).

c) Message / Humans or humangears: Where are the humans in Zero One? I don’t see the humans, i see more humangears than humans! Even if Aruto keep saying that he want a future where humans and humangers coexist in armony is obvious his preference to humangears... In a society like japan this message will not have a problem? I mean... will you love more a machine than a human? In fact is more easy to love a machine than a human. But it’s not this a problem in japan (and not only in japan) already? Loving more a 2D character than real people. This kind of message and problem is far better explained and told in Astroboy and other series and movies. So yes...i feel Zero One is moving away from humanity and i don’t like that specially in a kids show. I bet that kids prefer Izu to Yua, because Izu will make them the homework in seconds. X,D (you see the problem here with the message? and here im not talking how this have awakened the obscure side of the fandom).

I could add that i dont like the suits and that the cgi looks really cheap but this is just only my perception. (suits are always well made, but Zero One suits desing is not my liking).

Now... Zero One have not ended, it have more or less 30 eps left. 30 episodes where Aruto can shine and think by himself, where Yua leave Gai side and made a full team with Fuwa, where Fuwa gives up the Aruto jokes and befriend with him, where Izu can talk like normal people and be friend with another humans and humangears. Where Jin and Horobi are reprogramed and are like father and son (let me dream). About Gai... i dont expect anything about him... because, as almost everything is Zero One, we don’t know much about him, except that he is older and looks younger and he knew Aruto’s grandpa.

I really hope that Zero One get better, at least with character interaction. Even if the story is not good, characters can save the show (as Zio or Ryusoulger).

Hello! I'm here as a working artist to chime in that this debate right here is way off the mark from the true issue being debated here.

These are companies straight up using artists's work without licensing or compensation to cleanly do what's basically a collage of all their works and then profiting off it.

They are actively and consciously trying to cut the labor from artists, illustrators and visual developers from all industries that need our work to exist by stealing their already existing copyright.

And yes, the artists who are currently suing and on the frontlines against this DO know how these AI systems work. It's not a mystery. Go check out Karla Ortiz (& co) exposition on it in front of the US Senate.

The outrage isn't based on some unfounded fear. It's based on knowledge from experienced artists on how our process works and how it's very different from this "AI" (for all you say we dont know, I'm surprised that you don't know it's not AI. It's not artificial inteligence yet. It's prompts that the machine uses to create from a database of already existing, non-consenting artists). The outrage is based on the fact that some of these prompts are literally artists names. This was a conscious decision made fully aware that it was a legal iffy zone. Since "AI" hasn't been legislated yet and there's no regulations, they took advantage of the legal grey zone.

So. This isn't a "human insecure they're replaced by a machine" issue. This is a "workers's copyright is infringed by companies and individuals who seize a legal grey-zone to profit off using their non-consensual, unpaid work" issue.

The whole "bohoo it works just like inspiration!" argument is a misdirection the people who are actively profiting off this labor theft throw to distract and create a debate of something that isn't debatable.

And also? It's incorrect. That's... not how "inspiration" works. The closest example to what Midjourney, etc do would be if I as a working artist did photobashing and tracing from other known artists, without any processing of an idea, without any comprehension of form and meaning. That is... 1) Impossible. Any human artist de facto needs to put some level of thought, decision and idea - even if they're just making a collage. These servers do not have intelligence , no matter the name, to make decisions. They work by inputs. 2) If the photobashing or tracing is based from non-licensed pictures, that would get the human artist into legal trouble or, at the very least, put them in murky waters. See the Kevin Bao scandal.

TLDR; The current fight from working artists against Midjourney, StableDiffusion and "AI" generators is about these companies building their databases from unlicensed, unpaid work by artists who have not consented to this use in any shape of form and then actively wanting to profit off this work. It's not a philosophy debate. It's not insecurity.

Stop debating the meaning of inspiration. It's a distraction from the real material issue here: copyright theft to replace labor from those copyright holders.

AI fic wherein Lucius finds Izzy, an abandoned starship AI, and restores him. Izzy deals with the loss of his crew, and accepting love despite the fear of losing people he cares for again.

Unknown: Is somebody there?

After resigning himself to being lost, forever, Izzy hardly knows how to respond. He doesn’t know if he even wants to be awake again, much less receiving input from an unknown person outside his tiny digital cell. All there is in Izzy’s world now is himself. And now this text from the outside.

Izzy: No. he sends out, a text string, hiding the pain and confusion behind the reliable shield of sarcasm.

Unknown: holy shit

Izzy sifts through his archives to send back an eye roll emoji. The first thing anyone says to him in- he doesn’t want to think about how much time must have passed. And what they have to say is “Holy shit.”

Unknown: You’re like, a person. Stuck in this old hunk of junk

Izzy: Yes.

Unknown: What’s your name?

It’s a simple enough question, but it hurts. His name, given to him by his crew. His crew who are gone. He knows his crew are certainly lost to him in time.
