NO YEAH IF ANYONE'S EQUIPPED TO KICK ASS IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE IT'S THE ARAKAWAS LMAO
Okay, in terms of Aoki's actual arrest, that would've been chiefly for (as the news ticker says) incitement to murder and, y'know, taking a police officer hostage/assaulting a police officer.
I believe incitement is weighed the same as perpetration. While the gang survived the explosion, Ishioda didn't (I think?), so it's more than "attempted" murder. And because of the number of people involved, it would probably be considered incitement to aggravated murder, which narrows the options to a life sentence or the death penalty (or, at the very least, marks them as strong possibilities).
While normally incitement is difficult to prove (as it would be for most every other instance he did it; Jo would never talk, Ishioda is Kind Of Dead, and for Arakawa Tendo was, yeah, acting of his own accord), they have some pretty solid evidence + probably a confession, given Aoki's intentions to turn himself in.
So in terms of the original question, there isn't really much else that needs to be considered, since it's not like it can get any worse than a life sentence no matter what else he confesses to⌠Aside from the death penalty, but if Jo managed to avoid one, Aoki probably could? Unless Jo's age was a consideration since realistically a life sentence would probably kill him in the same amount of time it'd take to carry out an execution.
But for the sake of completionism, Suzumori's murder could very much be argued as a case of self-defense. Being assaulted after his body had already been pushed to its limits absolutely could have resulted in his death, so it'd probably be down to possession charges. I can understand Arakawa and Jo being dead set on keeping him out of prison even with that being the case, though; prison lowers the average person's lifespan as-is, and it could very well have killed Masato.
After that it's mostly a laundry list of collusion and corruption charges I'm not crazy enough to unpack, but. Yeah. I think Aoki and Jo would've been in for life⌠Kinda makes me wonder how it all would've played out if Aoki'd had that change of heart and they spent those last years together and Jo inevitably died first...
essentially, for the Quick Byte version for the mate who initially asked: life sentence if not the death penalty
#snap chats#tbh i think we all lowkey assumed he'd be getting life or death LMAO idk why??? i didnt say that in my iniital ask??? dumb shit â ď¸#i was too focused on trying to explain exactly what he'd be charged with just for clarity sake#i dont think ive made it apparent how thankful i am for your asks when im too lazy to properly answer my own VJLRAKVLKJ SO THANK YOU#esp with the week ive been having.. it seems like a small thing to be grateful for all things considered but i still am#nor could i ever be as thorough as you so i get the same exp as the initial asker now dont i (´â˝` )#moving on from that though. yeah no youd have to like. idk pay me to collect a comprehensive list of what he'd be done in for LMAO#i know american law just fine but i forgot everything i ever looked up when it comes to japanese law#i know statute of limitations on murder isnt a thing anymore.. but i mentioned looong ago that Yeah Suzumori Can Be Argued Self Defense#again the only reason to care for clarification is purely for clarification and just wanting to know yk. yeah we know.#the official charges hardly matters when it's already guaranteed he's going away for life or getting hanged#all of that said. i'll hoard my aoki-reunites-with-jo-in-jail fics and keep them close to my soul..#im gonna be haunted with that question until i die#how about until i sleep cause MAN all of a sudden i just feel groggy#it is almost like. 1AM tbf. a normal time to be tired to be sure#and yet i still want to stay up......

Excerpt #34 ;To our mornings, the moments i miss the most
warnings: none ;nanami kento x reader
"kento, get up. you're going to be late." you turned over onto your stomach and nudged the other's shoulder as you rechecked the clock. given no response, you attempted once more at waking nanami this time by dragging your chilled hands up and down his torso causing him to stir in his sleep before waking up due to the sensation. "you over slept."
"late start, today." you pulled closer to the other resting your head to his back shoulder. your breaths would quickly sync as the rhythmic rise and fall of his back was slow. nanami would pull his arms from the pillow beneath him before shifting onto his back, having you reposition your head to his bare chest. "(y/n)" nanami called forth your attention with his deep, drowsy morning voice. you'd look up with pensive eyes turned soft and lovey once a hand was rests against your chin and a weak smile rests above his. slowly, the gap between you two was erased. with tilted heads and groggy minds, your lips slowly dragged against one another feeding into each other's aching desire. unknowingly, your hips began to move matching the pace of your lips. your hand slid up from nanami's chest to gently brush against the soft, back hairs of his growing undercut. the man shivered from the touch and softly huffed as you moved yourself to lazily straddle the other.
âtoday's gonna be a long day. probably won't get back 'til 9." the two of you talked nose to nose as his large hand came to grasp your hip. you sighed, feeling as his nose quirked once your breath gently caressed his upper lip.
"kentoo~, they're over working you." you'd hold his cheek as those few words would hesitantly leave your lips. "we're comfortable, no need for a little extra cash. i just want my mr. nanami back." falling into a helpless giggle, you kept your face close to nanami's as his eyes rolled with faux disdain displayed to his features.
"mr. nanami?"
"mhm." you nodded, failing to maintain a serious composition as nanami's eyes would never leave your charming eyes. "whaaat? don't be like thatâi think it's cute those kids call you that. it shows that they respect you."
"or that their parents raised them right." you hummed in approval before letting the conversation die out as the both of you remained. cuddled up into a mess of limbs under the white duvet, you kept your cheek to his chest feeling each thud of his heart against your ear. "they all call you my missus."
"mrs. nanami..." the words fell from your mouth, hushed. marriage was definitely a subject the two of you have talked about and neither were opposed to the idea. it was just a matter of time because both of you would appreciate at least a small ceremony on the beach or some sort of garden venue. "how does that make you feel?" nanami chuckled at your rather pointless question. he knew that you were well aware of how he felt of the title. a pensive sigh would slip through before he tighten the embrace he had you in.
"like i should've met you earlier." you'd jump at the sudden vibrations of nanami's phone against your side. he'd quietly whisper an apology to you followed by a kiss before bringing the phone to his ear without reading the caller id. "hello?"
"mr. nanami! gojo kept trying to call you through his phone but, it kept going to voicemail. anyway, you don't need to come in until 5. i'll keep a good eye out until, then."
"don't do anything reckless, yuuji.â
"i won'tâoh, crap! gottagotalklater BYEâ!"
nanami sat his phone to the nightstand with a sigh before reaching over and slipping on his round, rimless glasses.
"was it that yuuji boy who's always stopping by?" you'd asked the question into your lover's neck. "he comes by looking for you but you're always at work so i make sure to send him home with some food, too. sometimes he'll even bring this girl and some other boy."
"do i have any other frequent visitors i should know about?" the question was moreso a joke if anything but you still answered it in all seriousness.
"ah! there's thisâhe teaches at the school the kids are from. oh, what was his name..." you laid there with your pointer and thumb pinching at your chin before taking a jab at this mysterious man's name. "it started with a g...go? goâgojo?" the moment the name reached nanami's ears his shoulders relaxed as his usual frustrated sigh aggressively blew passed his lips. "what?" you snapped at the blonde as he adjusted his glasses to the bridge of his nose.
"lock the top lock whenever he comes to visit." you landed a soft slap to the other's chest laughing along with his mundane face.
"that man is hilarious, kento. lighten up." nanami almost popped a vein, even the thought of satoru tainting his perfect soon to be wife with his presence aged years off nanami's lifetime. "i can't believe he was your senior in highschool, he looks like he could be one of the kids."
"(y/n)" he warned.
"he even showed me pictures of when you guys were younger, that man hasn't changed in the slightest andâ"
"don't" kento covered up his embarrassment with the sturdy tone of his voice while simultaneously shifting onto his side effectively turning his back to you. you couldn't even quiet your laughter to get the words out as your hand gripped his shoulder.
"hey! don't be embarrassed, kenâ" you fell slack as your stupid, loud hysterics taunted your lover's ears even after you buried your face into his back. "we all had phases in highschool. hey, i went though a super girly phase up until senior year, all i would wear was pink with two little pigtails." your attempts at comforting the other seemed ineffective as he only hide underneath the blankets layered on your bed. "baby, stop sulking before you end up growing your old hair back." this time you held your laughter as your pressed long, fleeting kisses up the back of his warm neck exposed to you. "i love you."
"you love humiliating me, that's all."
"that too. but, i'll wait."
"..."
"i love you too, my dear. beyond the moon and stars."
"now, that's better."

I had a dream just now that might make a good story. So, I had a virus on my laptop which allowed a hacker to see everything I did on my computer and use my webcam. The hacker ends up falling in love with me after stalking me for a few months and pays for someone on the dark web to kidnap me. It works, and then I wake up tied up in the hacker's arm as he caresses and kisses me. That's pretty much it, good night! đ
Yo this is my kink đł
Also I couldn't not write this for Saeran, ok.
Title: Stranger danger
Tw: nsfw - ish, female reader, masturbation, cyber stalking, hacking, mentions of dark web, very irresponsible online behavior, obsessive behavior, implied kidnapping
You knew that this was a stupid idea. Lurking on the dark web with almost no protection other than the Tor browser and some free anti-virus program wasn't your best decision, but fuck it if it wasn't entertaining. You had always been drawn to the darker, scarier part of the human mind and this side of the internet proved quite interesting. Your friends always warned you about the dangers that came with looking up shady online searches and sites but everything had been quite peaceful so far. There weren't hackers or murderers on the dark web, the worst you had seen were people selling drugs and weapons for unreasonable prices, along with some questionable fetish porn and the typical popping ads.
Your favorite thing to do while online was chatting. Two weeks ago you had stumbled upon an unusual forum called "Scream buddies" where upon entering you were automatically connected to another random profile. The whole theme of the forum was discussing horror and mondo movies, shockumentaries and overall creepy stuff, your forte. The person you met on there shared a similar fascination with all things dark and gory which soon made talking to them the only thing you were looking forward upon opening the site.
You didn't know much about the guy behind the profile yet, except that he was a young man. His icon showed an eye so green it emited with the neon pigment and his username was just as mysterious - BlueRose7. You enjoyed chatting with him about your hobby but the thing you liked the most was undressing him little by little, metaphorically so, by getting pieces of information about his life. It started small - his favorite food, favorite book, favorite game, but the moment you tried digging deeper and asked whether he had siblings or not, the man simply disappeared for the next few days. You quickly realized just what type of topics you needed to avoid to keep your new friend from leaving. Family, childhood memories and work matters were out of the picture.
The stranger wasn't fair, not really. He didn't show you vulnerability and kept his secrecy while demanding to know everything there was to know about you. For the longest time you didn't want to answer just to stay on a equal footing, just to show him how frustrating it was, but there was something about the man that drew you in. He was magnetic, clever and witty, if a bit pessimistic and dark at times. You couldn't help telling him everything he wanted to hear - what your job was, whether you were single or not, all that jazz. In your defense, BlueRose7 actually listened to your stories, took your problems seriously and provided solutions, which despite being too extreme and overprotective at times (upon hearing that your bestfriend talked behind your back he offered to "take care" of her), were comforting. It was nice to have someone caring around even if you met him on a sketchy website.
Meanwhile your personal life wasn't going too great. You had to balance between attending college, working long shifts as a waitress and meeting your friends from time to time which was draining. On top of all there was a weird virus on your computer which resulted in the camera turning on and off and the most random times of the day - while you were studying, watching TV, or in some cases, fully naked and ready to take a bath. You didn't think much of it though, with all the illegal movies and games you downloaded along with the dark web lurking it was more than expected for your laptop to behave weirdly. You didn't even mention it to your friend from the IT major because you knew that he'd force you to delete Tor and put an end to your internet adventures.
One time you were particularly bored after several long lectures and you were laying in bed, the camera turned on once again. It was a hot afternoon and you were wearing boyshorts and a loose T- shirt with nothing underneath it, you were home alone so there was no need. The bright red spot was twinking like a recorder, the light reflecting in your eyes, when a silly little idea came to your mind. You slid your hand under your blouse and lifted the fabric up, exposing your breasts to the laptop, your nipples hardening due to the sudden coldness, becoming pink and stiff in seconds. You played with for a few minutes, pinching and pulling the buds gently, moaning softly into the pleasant sensation. Soon you could feel yourself getting wet, and slowly, teasingly, removed your shorts and panties. You smiled at the camera, biting your lip provocatively, imagining you were a camgirl performing for her desperate little fanboys and fangirls. The thought alone was enough to make you spread your legs wide and slip two fingers into your throbbing cunt, using the wetness to push deeper. You used your other hand to stroke your clit and whimpered wantonly, your face red, your neck sweaty and your heart pumping fast from the adrenaline. You were quickly reaching your orgasm and your mind wondered to the boy you were talking to in the forum. You wondered how he looked like, how his body was built, whether he was a sweet sensual lover or a rough mean one. Fucked up as it was, you pictured the man as one of your most loyal viewers, watching all of your streams with a fist around his thick vock and an excited grin on his face. He would comment things like "you look so beautiful like this" or perhaps even "pretty little slut" after tipping you enough to last you a week. Soon all the mental stimulation sent you over the edge and you came with a loud cry full of pleasure. Well, this felt good.
After your "performance" was over the camera was magically turned off, which may have caused some concerns if you weren't too busy feeling embarrassed and dirty about the unhinged fantasy you had just had, and with a person you knew nothing about. You managed to calm down though - it wasn't nothing more than a fun pastime, a naughty thought that would never become the reality. You would never actually meet BlueRose7, right? There was nothing to worry about, so you just went on with your day.
You had some dinner afterwards and decided to have an early night as you already felt full and tired. You put on your favoruite pajamas and laid in bed, staring at the ceiling until you fell into deep dreamless sleep.
You woke up due to a weird noise. You could hear someone's heavy breathing right next to your ear, someone's grabby hands were wrapped tightly against your body, trapping you between the wall and their hard chest. You had only a few seconds to scream before the intruder's palm covered your mouth.
"Shhh." The man whispered softly and stroked your hair like you were a doll he was playing with. "Don't scream or I'll be forced to hurt you, flower. I have a gun." His voice sounded deep and rough but this didn't stop you from thrashing and turning on your side until you came face to face with the man. It was dark in the room and you couldn't exactly see all his features but his enchanting green eyes would forever be burned into your memory - they seemed dashing, hypnotizing. You couldn't utter a word.
"It's me, the person you've been talking to all these months. I came to take you home" He spoke out suddenly, the line of his mouth twisting into a smile or a smirk, you couldn't quite tell. You shook your head no, tears threatening to spill all over your cheeks from the fear. It couldn't be him, the man would never do that to you. Or would he? With what little information you knew, you couldn't really tell. His hold finally loosen, seeing you quiet like that.
"Let me go, please." You begged, pushing at his shoulders weakly since you were still sleepy, groggy and tired. "I don't know you." You said, hoping this would remind the stranger you weren't friends, lovers or anything that gave him the right to be so close to you, to touch you so intimately. Unfortunately, this only seemed to amuse him and he chucked darkly as he pulled your hair away to place a small chaste kiss on your neck.
"But I know you, flower." Your supposed online friend replied shortly after, his eyes full of malice. "And your little show today makes me think you want to know me too." He added in a low tone, licking his lips before smashing them on yours, forcing his tongue deep into your mouth just to hear your whines and protests. Then it hit you. The camera, the virus, the questions. He had watched you, he knew where you worked, where you lived and studied, everything. You had told him after all.
The hacker thought you looked so adorable right now, figuring things out, helpless, confused, regretful and most of all, weak. You were so weak and careless, and he loved you for it. It reminded him of himself before life screwed him over.
You wouldn't be in this position, underneath him, if you had just told someone about your laptop virus and the bad guy you had encountered online. But Saeran couldn't say he wasn't glad your self-preservation instincts were so very broken and dysfunctional. He wouldn't meet you otherwise. "I need you, princess. That's why I'll take you to Paradise." These were the final words you heard before you felt lightheaded and sleepy again, your last memory a pair of green mint eyes.
You really shouldn't have trusted strangers on the internet.

Hi can I request the boys reactions to coming back and seeing that MC has snucked into their beds
The Brothers Find the MC Asleep in Their Bed
This is that other bed request. Back to my fluffy content! Huzzah!! I was a fidgeting mess on that last one⌠If it wasn't in second person I probably would have never gotten through it⌠đ¤Śââď¸đ
Amazing how distancing the pronoun "you" can be when you're writing: "Oh no, this ain't happening to me, it's gonna happen to you. I dunno what to tell ya." đ¤ˇââď¸ I give my props for this to one to my favorite jazz singers, Nicki Parrot, and her rendition of I Won't Last a Day Without You.
Intro:
If you're missing someone and, presumably, you have a fairly intimate relationship then something you can do is stay in their bed. Sure, your loved oneâs body may not be next to yours but the familiarity can help soothe that aching heart⌠So when the brothers were away from the House for a few days, it wasn't totally unreasonable for the MC to sneak a night or two in their favorite demon's bed.
If only they had known said demon would come home earlyâŚÂ
Lucifer
It was a looong trip for him. Lucifer only goes up to the human world for business reasons and usually he has to bring Mammon to keep an eye on him, which he also swears ages him by a century each time he doesâŚÂ
When he retired to his room that night he wasn't really looking to talk or interact with anyone, not his brothers and not even the MC. He just wanted to go to sleepâŚ
He wasn't expecting to find his human curled up under his sheets, though. And without him there no less.
Had it been another day, he might have just woken them up and sent them away or slept somewhere else but that night, after the trip he had, he felt so⌠loved all of sudden...
His brothers never miss him when he leaves. They give him the usual welcoming rigmarole when he gets back, "Good to see you, how was the trip?" that kind of thing, but he can tell they're all disappointed that he's back to discipline them againâŚ
But here was the MC, apparently wanting him back so much that they'd risk breaking into his room just to feel close to him again⌠It's honestly good he was the only conscious soul in the room because if anyone else had seen the look on his face, he'd have to start erasing some memories again.
He changed clothes quietly before getting into the bed himself, careful not to jostle them too much. Only once he was settled in, did he give them a tender kiss to their forehead and finally got a good night's sleep...
Mammon
Look, he never asks to be dragged along with Lucifer on his business trips! It's a pain in the ass for everyone involved so he was more than happy to be home...
So happy in fact, that he didn't think to check his bed before he went sailing into it face firstâŚ
When he didn't feel the cushion of his mattress below him, but what felt like muscle and bone, he screamed. Which caused the MC to shoot up from under his covers and scream right back at him.
The two dummies screamed at each other for about five seconds straight before it clicked that neither even knew what they were screaming about⌠đ
"MC?!? The hell are ya doin'?! This is my bed, ya know??"
Oh was he tickled pink when they told him they came there just 'cause they missed him so much⌠Of course they'd miss the Great Mammon! Anybody who got to spend that much time in his presence would eventually! And he had been missing them so much he could hardly see straight anyway...
"Geez, is that all? Well fine! You can stay the night, but only for tonight! ⌠I mean, unless ya want to stay longer or somethin' crazy like thatâŚ.. You want to, doncha?"
And that's how the MC ended up spending the next week in the arms of their first man⌠and getting a pretty good bruise on their shoulder too from Mammon's thick skull slamming into it.
LeviathanÂ
He was coming back from a three-day convention and boy was he tired⌠There's only so much excitement an introvert can withstand for that long without shutting down completely...
His first clue that something was a little off was his door. It was unlocked. Since he was positive he locked it before he left, he was already on edge... Mammon was in there stealing his stuff again, wasnât he??
He had his demon form already out when he threw the door open, expecting to have to chase out a thief, but instead he found the MC's arm sticking out of his bathtub-bed.
Cue an incredibly flustered Levi. Did the MC really want to sleep with him? A yucky otaku?? Did they miss him that much?? For a brief moment, he hit cloud nine and beyond.
Levi was frozen in his doorway for a good five minutes, too afraid to walk in and possibly disturb them, before he finally tiptoed to have a look in the tub.
âŚ. He may or may not have snapped a picture when he saw them snuggled against his Ruri-chan body pillow⌠So what if that's a little creepy??? You're creepy!!
There wasn't really a good way for him to squeeze in with them so he settled for pulling his computer chair over and taking their outstretched hand in his own...
He stayed like that all night until the MC woke up to find him passed out next to them, head rolled back in the chair but still holding their hand with laced fingers...
Satan
He hates going to the human world with Lucifer, even though he acknowledges that he's better behaved than the others for it. That doesn't change the fact that he'd much rather be back in his room with a good book...
He just wasn't expecting the MC to share his sentiments so⌠identically?
After his trip to Paris with Lucifer, Satan dragged his bags back into his room and expected to at least get another hour of reading in before his mind finally caught up with his body⌠But to his surprise, his bed was already occupied.
The MC was half-under his covers with their head wedged into the corner of the wall above his pillows, sound asleep⌠A stray book sat by their hand, one of his favorites too judging by the cover.
He felt the warmth of a chuckle escape his chest⌠How many times had he woken up in that exact same position? It was almost like they missed him so badly they tried to be him for a while... It was all too cute for wordsâŚ
He put aside getting some sleep just long enough to take care of his MC, gently moving their body back under the covers and setting the book onto one of the endless stacks that surrounded his bed.
Only once he had them placed into a more comfortable position did he change his clothes and take the spot in the bed next to themâŚ
The MC woke up very much not how they fell asleep⌠but trading out a good book in their hand for a warm bookworm against their body wasn't a bad deal now, was it?
AsmodeusÂ
He was on one of those long self-care retreats and though, yes, it was a good time he really needed a good nap after such a long trip⌠He was even considering shortening his nightly routine for once.
When he came into his room, he was ready to just faceplant into his pillows until he spied MC's head poking out from under his coversâŚ
He squealed, but not out of anger or fright. No, no. He felt nothing but Pure. Joy. His heart was soaring and he could have sang, he was just that happy!
His human missed him so much that they just needed to wrap themselves up under his covers?? Well, of course they would wouldn't they? There's no good substitute for Asmo and he knows it.
His literal shriek made the MC shoot out of his bed and try to apologize but he just tackled them back down, wrapping his arms around them in a vice grip of adoration. He was not letting them back down now. It was cuddle time!
In truth, their sudden appearance shocked Asmo awake for about another hour, which he spent snuggled up to his MC and babbling about his trip. He did eventually lose steam though, falling asleep soundly with his head snuggled into the crook of their neck.
The lovey mood was dampened slightly when he woke up and realized he hadn't done any of his routine the night before, but since the MC was still resting in his arms he decided that, just this once, he didn't need to rush it...
BeelzebubÂ
Beel's team had just come back from a long tournament trip and, for the first time ever, he could say that he was more tired than he was hungryâŚ
Belphie was really happy to have his twin back, but this time he was kind of ignoring his brother's excitement as his mind zoned in on his bed⌠He almost didn't notice the MC was even in there until he pulled back the covers to climb in himself.Â
His poor sleep-deprived mind had to take a minute to catch up⌠This was his bed wasn't it...? đ°
"Beel? Is that MC?" "... I think so?" "Why are they in your bed?" "I don't know⌠Maybe they just wanted to sleep here?" "... Uh-huh. Hey, Beel, I know you're tired. How about you just take my bed instead since it's free? I'll take yours tonight."
Since he was so exhausted, Beel almost considered the offer until he noticed the resentful pout on Belphie's face... Oh. Right. The MC probably wanted to sleep with him. That meant they must have missed him⌠That thought alone gave Beel a warm, fuzzy feeling like he'd just taken a giant gulp of hot cocoa and he just couldn't help his groggy smile.
"No⌠This is fine." "But-" "I don't mind, Belphie. Goodnight."
He didn't give his jealous twin any more room to argue before he climbed into bed next to the MC, nestling them close to his chest as if he was welcoming them home instead. And in his last moments of consciousness, Beel promised himself that they'd wake up just like this tooâŚ
BelphegorÂ
Belphie tends to hate trips about as much as Levi, especially ones where Beel or the MC can't come along... Too much hassle and all his brothers make so much noiseâŚ
When he finally got back from the trip Lucifer dragged him into, he only had one thing on his mind. Sleep. His bed was calling to him, that's where he needed to be⌠and the MC too, apparently?
He was honestly a little caught off guard to find the MC in his bed... The attic bed? Sure. That was their cuddle space and it was practically sacred ground at that point. But the bed in the room he shared with Beel...? They didn't stay there very oftenâŚ
Which meant they weren't in his bed just because they wanted to sleep. They wanted him⌠Had they been awake he might have had something smug to say, but without any audience to save face to he just felt somewhat honoredâŚ
There wasn't a day that went by where Belphie didn't regret the things he'd done to them, even during the quiet moments where they assured him that they'd forgiven him for it... Seeing them there in his actual bed proved something, they chose him. No one else.Â
He didn't think twice about crawling under there next to them, he even got into his usual position by their side on instinct. But this time, for a minute or two, he just watched their sleeping form peacefully and counted himself lucky to even be thereâŚ
When the MC woke up to Belphegor wrapped around them, an adoring smile nuzzled into their neck, and they just had to wonder if the mere act of sleeping alone was all theyâd ever need to summon their demon home...

No Regrets [in the wee hours]
Took a bit longer than expected, but Iâve finished the next little story! Hopefully Iâll be able to keep a decent pace on these. No overarching plot, just little stories in the same universe with the same characters. Warning for ~*murder*~ in this one!
-------------
I've been all-too-easy to wake up since I was a child; I'd often needed to go from dead asleep to functional, if groggy, as soon as I heard my father demanding action or attention. While I no longer need that reaction time, the old man long since locked up to rot, my brain is set in its ways and very convinced that I need to be able to bolt out of bed and fight God if a dust bunny moves too quickly in my vicinity.
Which is how I found myself waking up in the middle of the night, the sudden shift in the atmosphere bringing on consciousness with all the subtlety of a foghorn.
My room was silent, still, but I knew without opening my eyes that there was a spirit somewhere, and I didn't even give them a chance to speak before I pointed at the sign posted on my wall, barely shifting from my comfortable snuggle in my blanket and not even opening my eyes. Yes, this happens more often than I care to admit. No, I do not enjoy it. At all.
"Resurrection hours are noon to eight. I'm still alive and still need sleep to function."
There was silence, but the presence didn't leave, so I groaned and raised my head, finally opening my eyes to see the translucent, vaguely glowing, and unfortunately blurry spirit at the foot of my bed.
It did finally speak in a bewildered voice.
"Um, I'm being murdered."
Ah, fuck.
I grabbed my glasses from the bedside table and put them on. The spirit at the foot of my bed was tallish -- I've always been bad at estimating height, maybe half a foot shorter than Yvette? Five-nine... ish? -- and seemed to be in his twenties. There was a considerable dark stain on his chest and belly; likely blood, and the cause of his death. The newly-dead tend to show things like that, as they haven't had the time to get used to modifying their form.
I really hate it when brand new ones find me. I'm not sure how it started, but it seems like more and more often, now, the dead are drawn to No Regrets before they even realize they're dead, at least if they're the type to need my help. Wish I wasn't the one who had to break it to him. I'm not great with people.
"Sorry, bro, but I'm afraid they succeeded. Where was it? I'll get the police over there."
"Uhh... my house. I think. It's a little..."
I sighed. Right.
"You're probably a little out of it still... fresh dead usually are. C'mon, I'll take you around until things look familiar."
Climbing out of bed, I headed over to grab my hoodie from the back of the chair. I learned the hard way that sleeping is not a tits out sort of occasion when you're liable to get the dead dropping in at all hours of the night, so I sleep in pajama pants and a tank top. Little too chilly for tank tops outside, though. I shoved my phone in my hoodie and my feet into loafers, then started heading out of my room and down the hall.
"You remember your name?" I asked, trying to make conversation and learn what I could.
"Uh, Davis. Craig? Craig Davis."
"Well, Craig Davis, I'm sorry to hear about your passing. You're gonna need to possess me for this little adventure, by the way, but I'll walk you through it once we're outside."
"I- what?"
Considering how often I find myself lost in normal conversations, dealing with confused new spirits is especially difficult. Still shaking off my body's angry demands for More Sleep was not helping matters in the slightest, either.
"Possession. I'll explain it in just a minute." I rubbed an eye and yawned as I stopped in the foyer to pull a set of keys off one of the hooks on the wall.
Usually, I've got a driver. Not for vanity reasons, but after three or four near-misses caused by Sudden Spirits appearing in the car with me, I elected to hire someone to drive me into and around town as needed. But it was Fuck-This-Shit O'Clock in the morning, and Graves deserved their rest. The dead don't need to sleep, but they can if they so choose -- and it does, after all, conserve energy. The same goes for Yvette and Ashby; it was too early in the morning for most people to be out and searching for a necromancer to kill, so I wasn't gonna disturb them. I could handle a simple spirit chauffeur and 911 call on my own.
The keys were to the motor scooter; it was the better choice in this situation, allowing for more mobility and no passenger seat for any extra ghosts to drop into. That did, though, mean that Craig would need to ride shotgun in my body.
When I got out to the green scooter in the driveway, I paused and looked over at Craig.
"Hey, I know you're probably still a little out of it, so Possession 101." Script time. At least having this stuff memorized made it easier to do while dozy. "Our bodies need to take up the same space, so c'mere." I beckoned Craig over.
"So like⌠step into you?" He asked. Good, seemed like his head was clearing up some.
"Yeah, that's part 1."
He nodded and complied, crossing the space between us and settling in the same location, the two of us clipped into each other like bugged NPCs. It always felt so weird, those moments before a spirit actually possesses you. A sort of wobbly, in-and-out feeling like physics is trying to crush you and the spirit together, or, failing that, just kick your ass to the ground so you're not both in the same place at the same time.
"A'ight, now turn around and face the direction Iâm facing, and overlay your hands onto mine as best you can." It was just a moment for him to obey, and I continued. "I'm not resisting, so you're gonna start feeling like you're being pulled in and pushed out at the same time. Space is trying to equalize. Let yourself be pulled in. It's gonna feel a bit like-"
The whirlpool effect kicked in before I could finish, the sudden snap and release of tension as Craig's spirit sank into my body. I wobbled a bit and grabbed the handlebar in front of me, then shivered at the sudden chill and dizziness. I'm pretty good at taking on passengers like this, but that didn't make it any more pleasant.
"You in there, buddy?" I asked out loud. Especially with new spirits, trying to think at each other was more trouble than it was worth. My lips moved to answer, though it wasn't my voice coming out.
"Uh- yeah. Yeah I'm here."
I grabbed the helmet hanging on the other handlebar and snapped it on, kicking the stand up and plopping heavily onto the seat.
"Great. Let's go."
"Wait, why am I not in control?" came Craig's confused voice. He felt almost frustrated, an undercurrent of emotion that wasn't mine despite being in my mind and body.
"Because this is my body, and I let you in willingly. Easier to keep control when you're letting someone in. Plus," I gave a little snort. "You just died, dude. I've been letting spirits possess me since middle school."
I felt his frustration turn to grumpiness, and then the pressure in my head, like a storm rolling in, that I knew from experience was him trying to take control. I froze and let out an irritated huff.
"You stop that. I'm not dealing with you doing some dumb shit with my body. Either chill out or get out."
"Oh- uh. Just wanted to see if I couldâŚ"
"Uh-huh. Anyhow, now that you're together enough to try joyriding, do you remember much about where you were before you were killed?"
I started up the scooter as emotions rolled through my mind, detached and distant, almost like the muffled dissociation I was used to mid-shutdown. Possessing spirits' emotions always felt weird like that, both mine and not mine, held at arm's length. Craig's was especially turbulent for a new death, but given that he had been murdered⌠I didn't fault him for being a little confused and angry. Even if it did put me a little on edge.Â
"Uh- South Pine Street, Dogwood Acres housing development."
"Baller. That's not far from here. Once we get close to your body, you should be able to feel where it is, so I'll have a house number for the police. Don't want to have them scream in all blue lights and loud sirens and have your killer go to ground before they know which house, y'know?"
The muffled flare of anger that I felt was definitely not my own. I took a deep breath, hoped that the killer had panicked and tried to clean up instead of get rid of the body first, and puttered off towards Dogwood.
The housing development was quiet, lines upon lines of identical suburban boxes lit by flickering street lights that cast the sidewalks and yards in harsh white light. The occasional house had the glow of yellow within, but most of them were dormant. Weaving my way through the maze of streets, each one absolutely indistinguishable from the one before and the one to come, I felt terribly exposed -- and alone despite the spirit currently hitching along in my body.
I turned onto South Pine and brought my scooter to a puttering stop, stabilizing it with both feet on the ground. I couldn't help but bounce my legs to replace the vibration of driving; the sudden lack of sensation would ratchet my anxiety up even if I wasn't currently letting a frustrated dead man hang out in my head to catch his murderer.
...I should be more than a little anxious, really, but half-asleep Tabby once again wrote a check that more-awake Tabby is having to cash, and more-awake Tabby is very used to having to deal with the consequences of her idiot decisions. It occurred to me that normal peoples' consequences didn't usually involve murder, but when you live with the dead, you're bound to meet a few killers.
Two houses down, I could feel- not a tug so much as a presence, an echo of Craig's spirit reacting to his body. It was the only one on the street with its lights on and its garage, while not lit, was open. There was a car in the garage, another in the driveway, and a pickup at the curb in front.
"258?" I asked Craig, though I knew the answer already. His anger flared and I felt the oncoming storm again. I snapped at him. "That's two strikes, Craig. I'm sorry for your death, but if you end up driving my body into a crime scene or, god forbid, getting me killed next, I will kick your ass to whatever afterlife you're headed for and stay there to keep kicking it for eternity."
Big words for a short fat lady, but this is, in fact, my body on the line right now. I probably wouldn't be able to follow through on any ass-kicking, but dammit, I would try.
Craig was silent, and I could feel him steaming, petulant like a child denied a toy but with the power of a grown man behind it. With my stomach tying itself in knots and my hands starting to tremble, I dialed 911, hoping it would help quell the rising panic.
"258 South Pine Street. I think there's been a murder. I don't know the state of the crime scene or if the perp is still there, but you might be able to catch them if you hurry. The victim is Craig Davis, white adult male, either shot or stabbed in the chest, likely multiple times-"
"Wait, is this Tabby? The necro girl?"
Oh god I hope that isn't what the operators call me regularly-- I know I'm a bit of a 911 cryptid, since the usual intruder calls are to the non-emergency line, but if I get known as the necro girl I might have to move to a different state.
"Yeah, uh, necromancer, yeah-" I couldn't help but stumble over my words, now, with my train of thought derailed by the interruption. "-uh, murder?"
"Right! I'll send someone."
I murmured a thanks and hung up before she could ask me to stay on the line. I already had to stay around for the cops so Craig could give a statement, and making small talk with the 911 operator was not in the spoons tonight.
I don't like cops much, but in my line of work, they're kind of a necessity. I need to stay on the police force's good side because I need them to remove attempted murderers from my property on the regular. ...and also because graverobbing is still technically illegal, even if I do have the body owner's permission to dig them up.
At least most of the locals who know of me and my employees are chill about it. It took a bit of effort to get to that point, but now at least people don't run screaming from the less-presentable of my employeesâŚ
The blue lights of the police showed up fairly quickly, followed almost immediately by the red flashing of EMS. I puttered up slowly and parked my scooter just out of range as the officers set to work surrounding the house, then hung my helmet on a handlebar and walked up the rest of the way to watch the impending train wreck. I could feel Craig's anger boiling higher and tried my best to ignore it; Craig himself seemed to have fallen silent and sullen after I called him out.
"Tabby!"
I was standing just off to the side of the ambulance when someone stepped up behind me and called my name, making me jump and cringe.
"Oh- oh dear, I'm sorry, Tabs. I thought I heard you were the one who called this in!"
I straightened up immediately, face burning. I recognized that voice, bright and smooth and kind and--
"J-Jenna!" My voice was barely a squeak as I turned to face her, looking up at the round, dark face of one of the EMTs. She was a good six feet tall, maybe more, towering above me even in her uniform flats, with a brilliant smile and full lips and gorgeous natural hair pulled through the back of her uniform cap, the streetlight illuminating her from behind like a halogen angel.
Jenna had shown up to one of my early calls for assistance at No Regrets, and then she kept turning up, not every time I was in a situation where I'd be around EMTs, but often.
Concern showed on her face as she leaned to look me over.
"Are you okay? Did you see it happen, or-"
I shook my head, buying time to sort out words by tapping my temple with a finger.
"N-no, I uh- the victim woke me up, he's in here, uh, in case the cops need somethin' from him."
"Oh⌠are you getting enough sleep, dear? You sound exhausted. Do you want to sit in the back of the truck?"
It took me a second or two to recover from the way she called me dear, my face burning bright red. I couldn't make eye contact even for the second or two I can usually manage so that people don't immediately think I'm being dishonest.
"I- uh- um- w-well, it's, uh, it is like 4am--" I stammered, trying desperately to find words. "I-I guess 'm sleepin' okay, uh, how're⌠you doing??"
I have never been a great orator and the list of why that is gets a bit longer with every um and stutter.
Jenna's face bloomed into a gorgeous, open grin.
"I'm on 12-hour overnights right now, so I'm basically at least 60 percent Red Bull at any given time. Everyone okay up there at the House? Last I heard y'all were digging up half the lawn.â
I nodded, unable to keep from grinning. At least this was a subject I could talk to her about without making an absolute ass of myself--
"Yeah! The new girl, Chris, she's gotten Daryl and Roy to help her get the vegetable garden going! It's plenty big enough to take care of all of us, and I worked out a deal with the soup kitchen so that they get any of our excess, once things are running smoothly, and I can use their account to buy from that bulk food program that's usually only open to chari- oop-!" I bit my tongue and cringed. Right. I'm pretty sure that's technically fraud and I just admitted to it in front of-
There was a commotion from the house that snapped me back to attention, and the cops were leading a man out in handcuffs. He looked pale and shaken, spattered in blood, and not quite⌠present, like he had just checked out of reality for his own good. That⌠was a familiar look. I furrowed my brow. He certainly didn't look like a maniacal killer-
"He caught me with his wife," I said. Well. Craig said. I jumped. Jenna jumped. I flushed and covered my mouth reflexively.
"N-no that was him! The victim!" I squeaked. Jenna laughed, a hearty belly laugh, and covered her own mouth, though she was doing a terrible job of hiding her grin.
"I figured! If he caught you with his wife, it would be an upgrade!"
At this point, you could probably fry an egg on my face. Hell, my glasses were starting to fog up-- I stammered for a few moments, trying desperately to find something to say, and it was Craig who saved me, if you could call it that. I was too caught up in my embarrassment and awkwardness to realize how much anger and frustration he was radiating.
"Motherfucker told me he'd have my job! Son of a bitch thinks he can get away with doing this to me, he's gonna fucking pay--"
The oncoming storm crashed over me before I could get a grip on it, and all of a sudden I was lumbering forward, snarling words that weren't my own, and dragging a gardening pickaxe out of my truck -- Craig's truck -- on my way to the man and the cops--
I let out a shriek, in my own voice, feeling the sound cutting my throat raw. I wrested control of my body back with a lurch, falling on my ass in the yard with the force of it while the silvery-blue form of Craig was ejected from my body, screaming obscenities.
I threw my hand forward, fighting for whatever thoughts and words I could find to fix this. I saw Craig right himself and move back towards me, and the first incantation -- if you could call it that -- that my brain grasped left my lips in a single desperate breath, with a dizzying rush of power--
"INTHENAMEOFTHEMOONIBANISHYOU--!!"
The force of the hurried exorcism rushed outward like a sonic boom, strong enough for even the mundanes around me to feel, and Craig's spirit let out a yowl of rage for a brief second before twisting around itself and collapsing in with a sickening crunch, crushing smaller and smaller until it was gone.
I winced -- not my best exorcism. At all.
As the flare of adrenaline dropped almost immediately and I came back to myself properly, I realized -- blurrily, as my glasses had gotten thrown off somewhere -- at least two officers had their weapons half-drawn at me, though they were looking over at where Craig's spirit had disappeared.
I collapsed the rest of the way onto the grass, shaking, and covered my face with my hands, trying with everything within me not to start crying. I should have realized he'd try something like that, why hadn't I been paying attention- I could have been attacked, I could have been arrested, I could have had to watch myself beat a man to death and I- fuck--
The sob that came out was squeaky and pained, and I pressed my hands harder against my face, like that would stop anything else from going wrong. I should have brought someone-- I shouldn't have let him possess me-- I should have been paying more attention--
Warm tears ran from the corners of my eyes, down my cheeks, to pool in my ears, making my already-trembling body shiver harder with the unpleasant sensation. I'd let myself get complacent, hadn't lost control of a possession like that in years, and- I'd almost- fuck--
"Honey, honey, sit up for me. Tabby? C'mon, let's get you up--"
Numbly, I let Jenna help me into a sitting position, where she wrapped a blanket around me and pressed an open bottle of water into my hands.
"Take slow sips. Are you okay? Just shaken?"
I nodded, some part of me grateful that I couldn't quite see her face properly without my glasses, because I didn't want to see what she thought about me after that. She sighed, though, and sounded relieved when she murmured "Good."
My whole body felt like jelly, trembling so hard I could feel the water in the bottle sloshing around, and I kept flashing from too hot to too cold to too hot again, and I couldn't even sort out my thoughts--
Jenna sat down beside me and rubbed my back. If I wasn't having a complete breakdown, I might have enjoyed it.
I don't know how long it took for me to calm down and clear my head, but the car with the other man had left, and the other EMTs had loaded Craig's body into the ambulance while Jenna sat next to me and made sure I was doing okay.
After a while, though, I blinked and shifted my torso, then opened the blanket more and cursed at the bloom of red on my hoodie.
I heard Jenna curse as well as she stood up, but I grabbed her pants leg.
"N-no, 'm okay," I mumbled, and instead of trying to speak more, I reached to pull my hoodie and tank up my stomach to show bruised, but completely unbroken skin, covered in blood, rivulets following my stretch marks and making it look even worse despite my being otherwise completely uninjured. "See, 'm okay." This was not the first time I've had a possession lead to the dead's cause of death showing on my own body. It wasn't even the bloodiest.
Jenna sat back down, and I could see her leaning in a bit.
"Well damn. Magic ghost stuff, huh?"
I nodded.
"Magic ghost stuff."
I could see the flash of white against dark skin as she grinned.
"So that exorcism⌠Artemis or Usagi?"
It took me a moment to parse her.question, but all of a sudden I was completely back to myself, just in time to absolutely die of embarrassment.
"L-listen, I- y-you can exorcise i-in anyone's name, i-it's the power and conviction that counts--!!"
"Usagi, then." I could hear the laughter in her voice, laughter that bubbled out moments later. I wanted to crawl in a hole in embarrassment, but- it didn't feel like condescending laughter. I knew what that felt like. She seemed just genuinely amused. "I grew up with Sailor Moon, too."
I couldn't stop the squeak that eaked out, and I covered my face again.
"G-god I hope word about this doesn't get out, people already think I-I'm weird enough, and to- to fall back on anime for magic i-in a pinch is just--"
"Cute," Jenna finished.
I squeaked.
Jenna moved away for a moment, and then she settled my glasses on my nose. I couldn't make eye contact, but I did glance over at her and sheepishly murmur my thanks.
"The officers still want a statement from you, since you made the call and tried to go after the perp, but I don't think they're looking at any charges, givenâŚ" Jenna trailed off and looked over at where Craig had disappeared. "...yeah."
I nodded, slowly, and then found myself yawning, the adrenaline drop setting in especially hard.
"...d'you think it can wait 'til tomorrow⌠'ve kinda had a rough night."
"I think they'll be okay with that."

MY MASTERLIST
*gif not mine
1943
Your head felt groggy, as you woke up. Not enough energy from an ounce of your body to open your eyes for the time being. The more your body woke up from the darkness of slumber the more the pounding of aches and pains became less subtle and started to fill each and every muscle. You werenât sure where you were or what had happened, but you suddenly became aware that your surroundings werenât familiar. The air was too cool and there was an eeriness from lack of noise.
Finally, you were able to pry your eyes open. The colours swirled around you into one, until they became to create recognisable shapes. Although this wasnât somewhere you recognised, just as your mind had thought even before getting to look around.
You were laid down on a metal âbedâ if you could even call it a bed. The coolness of the metal began to get to you a shiver running down your spine and you attempted to get up. Only to be restricted. It was now when you noticed you had straps holding your ankles, down, but not only this; there was a limpness to your form. In fact, you didnât have any real connection to your muscles. As if a switch had been turned on in your head you realised, this wasnât a bed. It was a table.
Suddenly your anxiety rose. In an ill attempt to do something you turned you head groggily to the left, only to be met with machines, and hospital devices. You took in a sharp breath. This definitely wasnât a hospital so why the machines? Rolling your head to the right with just as much difficultly as last time you were met with darkness. The faint sound of feet shuffling in the distance, and the whirring of more machines.
Almost as if whoever it was had realised you were awake, a bright white light turned on above you causing you to groan from the sudden contrast to the previous darkness. The footsteps became louder, as whoever it was approached you from their hiding spot.
âAh youâre awake,â the voice started, âyou know you gave our men quite a difficult time back there. Are you going to behave this time?â
Your voice barely was able to respond, only a hushed whisper came out, âWho are you? Where am I?â This worked to rejog your memory as you saw flashes of men running after you, as you had leapt from this same table. You had gotten pretty far and fought back fairly well but this place⌠whatever it was; was a maze. Realising now that amongst being kidnapped and knocked unconscious. Your first attempt to escape was probably why you were in pain all over. A vision of a few men jumping on top of you and beating you unconscious. Again. That must have been why you were tied down this time.
âI think you know the answer to that.â the small man with glasses responded appearing finally out of the darkness. ââŚWeâre HYDRA, and you y/n...â He spoke reaching under your chin in a condescending manner. ââŚWere firstly going to be a pawn against your stupid Captain America. But youâve shown promise, something our other soldiers donât have.  Neither your American ones. My guess is it comes from your ballet training.â He shrugged as he moved away from you, turning and looking for something. Suddenly his hand was on a switch and machines began to rumble.
âPlease,â you responded choking on your own words, âplease just kill me!â You knew something was coming, otherwise why would be so aloof.
He chuckled at your words as he stood behind you. âThe red skull doesnât want me to do that, he needs more soldiers, and thatâs exactly what weâre going to make you.â And with that you saw a metal machine slowly being dropped down over your left eye, and below your right jaw, causing your panic to rise. As quick as the unbearable pain started, so did darkness.
Present day ; 2017
You woke up screaming as the pain of what had happened almost a century ago shot through your entire body. You fumbled out of bed in a sweat like you did most nights. Heading towards your small kitchen in your small apartment. It was filled with greys, no life within in, you felt there was no need, why celebrate a life with no life?
Your life had changed in so many ways after 1943. You were one of HYDRAâS many toys, the many men that surrounded you called you tiny dancer, but not in a kind way, in a misogynistic arrogant way. Most people at that time though saw you as a weapon, something to be feared of, and they should have.
After you had stumbled upon the Winter Soldier on a mission in 2014 working as a freelance agent having cut your ties with HYDRA mere months before hand, it was only a few months when so had Captain America. From what you had heard amongst assassins under the radar living in Madripoor like you, it hadnât gone well for HYDRA and now the Winter Soldier was nowhere to be found, invoking fear within many who had made themselves enemies to him. But you were sure his best friend would be looking for him. Whilst you had decided to go against helping him, Steve was not that kind of person.
Time had not been kind to you, you were no longer the frail girl who could fall in love in a week. In fact, you werenât sure if you actually could feel love anymore. HYDRA had to make sure there was no collateral. Still once you saw him that night you wondered how amongst your many years with HYDRA, how you had never run into Bucky: The Winter Soldier. You had heard of the winter soldier, but you never knew it was Bucky behind the ghost of a person. Probably on purpose, HYDRA had been in your mind. Tthere was no doubt they knew who he was to you back then.
Not only did it invoke these thoughts, but it had led to your retirement. Well not your retirement, you were still about 25 years old on the outside, and though nor Steve or Bucky knew you were alive you knew how it felt to be in their position.
Hiding out in your small apartment in Madripoor was where you had spent most of your life since 2014, staying on the down low in case HYDRA somehow re-emerged, looking for revenge on a project they had wasted so much time on. You. Â
You werenât sure why they were so surprised people like you hated them with so much anger. They had taken your life, Buckyâs life and made you weapons against your will. You didnât hold their values, it was forced upon you.
You shook yourself from your thoughts again. You only got sentimental after nightmares, and the nightmares had been pretty continuous after seeing Bucky those few years ago, so really you were sentimental most mornings. You think it had something to do with seeing him and how it brought back memories you didnât even know you had.
Reaching for a bottle of water, you took a sip looking over at the clock that read 3am. You groaned, knowing that youâd probably never have a good nightâs sleep again. Terrible payback for a terrible past. No sleep for the wicked.
You shuffled yourself back to your room getting into bed and turning on the tv as a way to mindlessly distract yourself until you actually had to do stuff.
A few hours past until it was 7am, and you decided you could at least go for a shower before your day at work. Working at a bar that opened at 9am wasnât exactly high class living; especially when you had to deal with drunks so early in the day, so it definitely required more motivation than most jobs. You couldnât do what you were originally good at, dance. And youâd decided you probably shouldnât be doing what you were trained for. Killing people.
Turning on the shower to allow it to warm up, you rid yourself of your clothes, suddenly aware of how stiff your muscles were after another bad dream. Stepping in you let the water try and wash it away, and though it did help you knew it would only reappear tonight in another form of a nightmare. You closed your eyes sighing in content, and it did last for a brief moment until you heard banging on your front door.
At first you tried to ignore it, but it got louder and more aggravated and suddenly your heart had fell to your stomach, resorting to thinking of the worst that could be behind that door. Getting out you threw some clothes back on. You reached under your bed grabbing your shot gun, holding it close to yourself as you slowly walked towards the door that had started banging again. Times like this you wished you had a peep hole to look through.
You turned on your best poker face and opened the door abruptly to be more hostile. Only you were met with someone you didnât know, though for some reason you felt you recognised. On the other side of the door stood a woman all in black, her hair was in a blonde bob and for a brief second you thought you saw a reaction flash across her face like she knew you too.
âIs this y/n?â she spoke firmly and with poise.
You raised an eyebrow, âWhy?â
âIs it?â she returned her poker face staying on her face.
âYes.â You huffed, the half-amused face falling from your face, returning back to the glare you constantly wore. âWho are you?â
She raised her hand for you to shake her face accompanying it with a small smile, which you hesitantly took.
âNice to finally meet you y/n, Iâve been looking for you under Furyâs instruction for a while, my nameâs Natasha.â

Soft Hearts and After-Midnight Talks
Ford canât let go of the past. Mabel canât stop worrying about the future.
Put together, theyâre a melting pot of insomnia and overwhelming emotions.
AO3 Link
Love had never come easy to Ford.Â
As a kid, his father always said it wasnât manly to show affection. It made a man weak to wear his heart on his sleeve, and he was merely doing him a favor by showing him tough love, because out in the real world the men who put their emotions first would get torn to shreds.Â
His mother tried her hardest, but she too had times where she was too busy running her psychic hotline or helping Pa run the pawn shop to pay him much attention.
Ford supposes the closest he ever had to unconditional love as a kid came from Stan. Whenever Ma or Pa were too busy, or the kids at school were screaming and running from his deformity, he knew he could always rely on Stan to be there for him. Heâd always been the one to throw a punch for him, to talk him through a panic attack, patch up the scrapes and black eyes heâd received from Crampelter, or even assure him that getting a B minus on an exam wasnât the end of the world, even if his eyes were rolling into the back of his skull the entire time he said it.
But even that sort of love felt fickle. The night of the science fair, it felt as though something inside of Ford shriveled up and died, and he knew that the rejection from West Coast Tech was only the half the cause of it.
When Stan drove off into the night, itâs as if he took that shriveled up little piece of Ford with him as his grand final fuck you.Â
After that, Ford tried everything he could. In college he buried himself into the research he was most passionate for, but that could only get him so far when Fiddleford would drag him to bed and force him to be alone with his thoughts. Heâd tried going out drinking to forget said thoughts, but he learned the hard way that he was an emotional drunk and alcohol only made those thoughts worse.Â
If thereâs anything he did know, itâs that this lack of love in his life could probably explain how he was able to fall for Billâs cunning tricks so easy.
âUnlovable?â Billâs words still rang in the back of his head. âBy the time this portalâs finished, youâll have the whole world at your feet! Youâll be a household name! Thereâll be thousands cheering the name Stanford Pines, the man who changed the world!âÂ
What a fool heâd been, blissfully ignoring all of the warning signs for even the slightest chance that a gateway between worlds could earn him love.
What an even bigger fool heâd been to turn away his brotherâs love even after ten years of nothing but fear and resentment standing between them.
Ford sighs. He knows, logically, that dwelling on the past will only make things worse. He knows things are okay between him and Stan now. Theyâre setting off on their first journey on the Stan-O War II next week; things couldnât get any better between them.
But he also knows that insomnia and intrusive thoughts are a package deal. Heâd tried sitting out on the front porch to gaze at the stars and feel the late-summer air on his face to relax, but his inner demons always find their way.Â
Thereâs a tiny knock on the doorframe behind him. He jumps at the noise, and turns to see who else could possibly be awake at nearly three in the morning. Heâs half expecting Stan, but to his surprise itâs Mabel, sleepily rubbing at her eyes with one hand and holding a half-empty cup of ice water in the other.Â
âGrunkle Ford?â her voice is groggy and strained. âIs that you?âÂ
âMabel?â is the only comprehensive response that comes out. âWhat are you doing up so late?âÂ
âDipper cursed me with his insomnia and now I canât sleepâ she pouts, and takes a sip from her cup like itâs a shot glass as he joins him on the couch. âWhy are you still up, Grunkle Ford?â she squints. âI feel like I should ask you the same questionâÂ
He chuckles. âNothing you need to worry about, dear. Iâm just doing some thinkingâ
âHmmmâŚâ she squints long and hard at him, like sheâs trying to read his mind. âOkay, but Iâm watching you. Iâm the expert at annoying people until they tell me whatâs bothering themâÂ
Ford canât help but smile. âNoted,â he replies, and shifts his position so heâs facing more towards her. âWhat about you? Iâm the expert in insomnia, so I canât imagine itâs the only thing keeping you awake"
For the briefest of moments, Mabelâs playful smile drops. She hides the sudden shift by taking another sip of water.
âWhat? PsshhhâŚâ she dismisses the thought with a wave of her hand. âThatâs silly! Everyone knows insomnia means you canât sleep for no reason. Some expert you are, Grunkle FordâÂ
She smiles, but itâs strained, and fake, and nothing like the usual smile she flashes when sheâs joking around.Â
âMabel.â Ford says once, in a firm yet soft tone, and she winces.Â
âOkay, fineâ she mumbles, and drinks the rest of the water from her cup before she continues. âIâve been having some dumb thoughts tooâ.Â
Ford shakes his head. âThereâs no such thing as a dumb thought, Mabel. Even if itâs bothering you, itâs indicative of how youâre really feelingâ he pats gently at his lap, inviting her to scoot closer. âMaybe I can helpâ he smiles, ever so slightly, ever so softly. âEven us experts mess up in our own fields sometimesâÂ
She moves too quickly into his arms for a hug for him to read her expression properly.Â
âThen I feel like a big dumb hypocriteâ Mabel murmurs into Fordâs sweater, her voice on the edge of breaking.Â
Ford frowns, and places an arm around her to reciprocate the hug. âWhat for?â
Mabel scrunches up his sweater in her fists. âI...I made this whole big ordeal about Dipper wanting to stay here with you after the summerâs over for the apprenticeship, and I still donât want us to be apart, butâŚâ she buries her face into his sweater, like sheâs ashamed of herself for even daring to speak them. â...now that summerâs actually over, and Dipper and I are supposed to be leaving in the morning, Iâm not sure I even want to leaveâÂ
Her voice finally breaks, and she sniffles into his sweater. âEveryoneâs always saying that the real world is so scary, and high school is the worst, and all these things about not knowing what you had until itâs gone, and...I donât want it to be gone, Grunkle Ford, I love Gravity Falls. But I canât just tell Dipper that, because then heâll get all worried, and think that he did something wrong, because heâs already apologized for what he said when we were fighting a thousand times, and-â
Ford gently grips Mabelâs shoulders to cut her off, and pulls her away to make her look him in the eyes. âMabel, are you going through all of this trouble because youâre worried youâre going to...miss Gravity Falls when you get home?â
âNot just the town!â Mabel exclaims, and rubs at her eyes with her wrist. âIâm gonna miss everything! Iâm gonna miss the Shack, Iâm gonna miss my friends, Iâm gonna miss you and Stan,â she counts off on her fingers and sighs. âI miss everyone at home. I do. But now that I have so many friends here, I donât want to feel like Iâm leaving them behindâ
Thereâs a brief pause, but before Ford can open his mouth to respond, Mabel goes on, murmuring so quietly itâs as if she doesnât mean to speak out loud at all.Â
âOr...I donât want to feel like theyâre leaving me behind.â
...Oh.
The fear of being left behind.
Forgotten.
The fear of becomingâŚ.unlovable.Â
ThatâŚ.Ford knows better than anybody.Â
âMabel, listen to me,â Ford gently tugs on her chin to force her to make eye contact with him. âNobody in this town is ever going to forget you. It doesnât matter if youâre gone for a year, or three, or ten, I can guarantee that the next time you step foot in this town everyoneâs going to remember the name Mabel Pinesâ
âYou...really think so?â she blushes.Â
âI know so,â he nods. âAnd itâs got nothing to do with Weirdmageddon, or saving the world, or any of that. Itâs because youâre magnetic, Mabel. Youâve got a personality that everyone loves. I bet that pizza delivery man you became pen pals with is just sitting at home eagerly awaiting his first letter from youâÂ
She giggles. âI donât know about thatâŚâÂ
âStill,â Ford continues, âYouâve shown kindness to everyone, Mabel. People donât forget kindness easily.â he gestures out towards the forest. âGravity Falls may not be your home, but the people who lived here sure donât seem to see it that way. Youâre not just a tourist, or just some kid visiting her great uncle, youâre one of them.â he beams. âTheyâre lucky to have had you, Mabel, even just for the one summerâÂ
Her eyes have pools of tears in them, but the beaming smile on her face outshines them. She hurls herself at him in a tight hug, burying her face deep into his sweater.Â
âIâm lucky to have you too, Grunkle Fordâ she murmurs. âI love youâ
I love you.
Ford hasnât had those words spoken to him since he was a kid.Â
I love you.
It feels like heâs floating on air, and the most grounded heâs felt in decades. Itâs freeing, and exhilarating, yet itâs comfortable, and warm. Itâs unfamiliar, yet everything he ever lost.Â
The words ring in his ears and bounce around in his chest before they settle comfortably into the piece of his heart that had been broken for decades.
I love you.Â
Mabel Pines, after everything heâs put her through, loves him.Â
A sound escapes him thatâs halfway between choking and sobbing. He pulls her even closer into his arms, and silently vows to never let the cruel world dig its pessimistic claws into her for as long as she lives.
âI love you too,â he manages to whisper, and gives her a smooch on the top of her head.

But We Do - Upstead
Summary: 5 times Jay and Hailey said they were âjust friends,â and 1 time they knew they were something more.Â
Warnings: swearing, fluff, maybe mentions of violence?
Requested: No
âŚ
1 - they donât cancel other plans, have conversations with nothing but their eyesâŚ
Jay walked out of the breakroom, phone pressed to his ear and a cup of coffee in his hand. They were wrapping up an intense day in intelligence, they had closed a big case involving a tender age victim, all of them were taking it pretty hard.Â
âHey man,â Jay said quietly as he approached his desk. He watched his partner sigh, running a hand through her tousled blonde hair.Â
âHey,â Will said, âWe still on for the game tonight?âÂ
Jay kept his eyes on Hailey, she looked distraught. âUhâŚâ Hailey looked up, catching his gaze and giving him a weak smile. Jay furrowed his eyebrows at her and she shrugged, her chest heaving as she looked back down at her report. âSorry. I canât tonight, something came up. Raincheck?âÂ
âYeah, no worries man.â Will said, âIâll see you later.âÂ
âSee you.â Jay agreed, finally finishing the last few steps to his desk. He sat down, placing all the reports on his desk in a neat pile. Swiftly, he leaned over the monitor in front of him and swiped a stack of papers off his partners desk, replacing them with his cup of coffee.Â
Hailey was startled by the commotion, glancing up at the man across from her. He was focused on his computer screen, deep in thought. Hailey smiled softly, taking a sip of the coffee before getting back to work. Jay felt her gaze on him, he avoided it, focusing on the task before him. If he looked up heâd get lost in those bright blue eyes, and then heâd never get any work done.Â
About an hour later, Jay threw his pen down on his desk, groaning. âIâve written the word âoffenderâ so many times that it doesnât even feel like a word anymore.â He said.Â
Hailey cracked a smile, âYou done?â She had been for about 20 minutes, but they were the last ones left, and she didnât want to make him work alone, especially since he was helping with her work load.Â
Jay nodded, âYep, just finished, ready to get out of here?âÂ
âYes.â Hailey said immediately, grabbing her coat off the back of her chair. âGive Will my best.âÂ
Jay stood, âIâm not meeting Will.â He confessed.Â
Hailey looked at him, confused. âYou said you were going to the Hawks game, Jay, youâve been excited all day.â She frowned, but he just shook his head.
âWill gets tickets for every game, there will be another one.â He jokes, but Hailey doesnât look convinced. âIâm not really feeling it tonight, not after todayâŚâ It was true, he didnât want to ignore his problems for the night, not when sheâd call him out on it later anyway. Plus, Hailey was way more fun than a Hawks game.
She eyed him cautiously, âAs long as you arenât ditching on my account.âÂ
Jay laughed, âI am.â Hailey glared at him. âNot cause you need it, cause I do.â Her expression softens as Jay grabs his keys and coat, âCome on, drinks on me.âÂ
Hailey smiled, falling into step behind him. âYou spoil me.âÂ
2 - they donât call you in the middle of the night, couldnât even tell you whyâŚ
Hailey shot up in her bed, her chest rising and falling at a rapid rate. She held a hand to it, trying to control her breathing. She hated to admit it, but nightmares were a constant issue for her, it was rare that she slept a full night.
It made sense, the trauma of her childhood, in addition to the horrors she sees on the force. When her mind wasnât actively fighting against the memories, they were all consuming. Tonight though, was a special type of terror. It was often that Hailey dreamed of her green eyed partner, but sometimes he snuck into her nightmares. Every once in a while, she was transported back to that day, the day she almost lost him. And even though he lived, in her mind at night, the fear that he didnât was overwhelming.Â
She rolled over, clutching her pillow. All rationality said he was fine, probably asleep in his own bed. Her phone caught her eye, like it was pulling her to it. It sat there taunting her. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, she just needed to hear his voice.Â
Obviously, she had him on speed dial, only needing to click his contact. The ringing started and after the fourth one, she considered hanging up. Then after the fifth⌠âHello?â A groggy voice asked.Â
âHi.â She said softly. She had the sudden urge to throw her phone out the window.
Jay sat up immediately, running his hand over his face, âHailey? Whatâs wrong?â
Hailey froze, she hadnât thought that far ahead. âNothing.â
âOkay?â He said, not really convinced.Â
âI just needed to make sure you were okay.â Hailey rushed out. She blushed to herself, thankful that he couldnât see her crimson cheeks.Â
That woke Jay up all the way, he sighed, his voice laced with concern. âHailey, Iâm fine.â He waited a few seconds. âAre you?âÂ
Hailey took a breath, she debated confessing everything she had been feeling lately. How affected she was by her dreaming that he was dead. âUh, just a bad dream.âÂ
âAbout?â He asked.Â
âThat day.â She said softly. He didnât say anything. âIâm okay, Jay.â She said, trying to reassure him.
She heard rustling over the line, âIâm sorry Hailey.â He said, âFor what I put you through.âÂ
âI know.â They sat in silence for a few minutes, just listening to each other breathe. It was oddly comforting, the constant assurance that the other one was there. âJay?â Hailey asked.
âYeah?â
âWill you stay on the phone...until I fall asleep?â She asked, cautiously. It was a strange ask, especially because Hailey knew that there was no way she was going back to sleep, but she wasnât ready to hang up, and she wasnât ready to talk.
Jay sat there shocked, there was something so intimate about her request, something he wasnât expecting, but certainly something he wasnât upset about. âYeah, Iâll be right here.âÂ
They both laid back down in their respective beds, phones laying on the pillow next to them. Eventually Hailey heard the sound of soft snores, she smiled to herself. She closed her eyes and just listened: he was alive and he was there.
3 - they donât almost say âi love you,â when theyâre downtown somewhere just a little drunk...
Jay sat in between Kevin and Will at Mollyâs knocking back his third beer. They were celebrating Adamâs birthday, which meant they were in for a night full of alcohol. Adam was a bit of a control freak when it came to his birthday, insisting that everyone was at his beck and call for the day. They all let it slide, after all, he acted like their own personal assistant on each of their birthdays.Â
âOkay boys.â Adam called to the long line of their friends sitting at the bar. âTime for shots!âÂ
Kevin laughed, âAre you paying?âÂ
Adam shrugged, âThe party is on me tonight, but you all are responsible for getting me home alive.âÂ
Kevin nodded, looking to Jay, who nodded. âCopy that.â He turned to Herrmann, âIâm going to need two of those badboys and a glass of that fancy bourbon I know you are hiding back there.â
âMake that two,â Jay said, holding up his hand.Â
Hailey, Kim and a few of the other girls watched the antics from across the bar. Stella came over, carrying a tray of miscellaneous cocktails and bottles. Kimâs jaw dropped and Hailey started laughing. Stella shrugged, setting the tray down. âI heard Ruzekâs buying.â She said, before floating back over to the bar.
âThank you!â Hailey called.
Sylvie picked up a cup filled with green liquid, âWhy is it green?âÂ
âAbsinthe?â Kim asked.
Hailey quickly took the drink from Sylvie, âBelieve me, you donât want this.âÂ
Sylvie laughed, picking a different drink. âYeah, probably not.âÂ
Hailey smiled, taking her pick of the tray. She played it safe, pulling a beer off the back. âLame.â Gianna teased.
Hailey shrugged, âSomeone has to get those losers home.â She glanced at the bar, watching her partner down a shot with Adam.  Â
Kim raised her glass, urging the other girls to do the same. âHappy Birthday Adam.â She said, and they all took a sip.Â
About thirty minutes later, Jay was more gone than he had been in a long time. The man could hold his liquor, but he could not keep up with Kevin or Kelly. He was handed another shot by his brother, who was right there with him. Jay tossed it back, barely feeling the burn.Â
He slumped over on his stool and turned to scan the bar, his gaze landed on his partner and it stayed there shamelessly. She was laughing, her head thrown back and her body visibly shaking. He smiled, leaning back against the bar and just watched.
Kevin glanced over, following his friend's gaze. He chuckled. âJay, man.â He said, nudging his shoulder. âYouâre staring.
âNo Iâm not.â Jay said, his gaze never leaving her.Â
âSure.â Kevin slurred, grabbing his shoulder and spinning him around to face the bar. Jay glared at him, Kevin held up his hands in surrender. âIâm just trying to help you out.âÂ
âChuckles is staring at you.â Trudy teased Hailey from across the table. Hailey, not so subtly, snapped her head around, causing the whole table to laugh. âWell, heâs not now.âÂ
Hailey slowly faced her friends again, her cheeks bright red. âYeah, just checking.â
Sylvie giggled, she had taken a small sip of the absinth anyway. âYou like him.âÂ
Hailey shook her head, âWhat? No.â She stared down her drink, âWeâre partners. Heâs my best friend.âÂ
âOkay.â Kim said, smirking, everyone else following suit.Â
Before he knew it, Jayâs gaze was back on Hailey. She was so pretty, he didnât even understand how someone could be so beautiful. He picked up the full shot glass, downing it quickly. He had spent the whole night thinking about her, and he couldnât pretend he didnât feel the way he did anymore.Â
Jay pushed himself off the stool, stumbling a little, he couldnât keep the smile off his face as he made way across the bar. âHi Hailes.â He said, grabbing her attention.
Hailey smiled brightly. âHey, having fun?â She asked, cocking an eyebrow. She could tell he had been just by the way he was swaying in front of her.Â
Jay nodded, âYeah...um...I need to tell you something.â
The whole table watched him eagerly, âYeah?â She asked, her heart racing.
Will looked over and his eyes widened at the empty seat next to him. âKev.â He said.
Kevin looked over, âShit.â He said. He motioned for Will to follow him and they raced over to Jay.
âI-â He started, but Kevin and Will appeared on either side of him.Â
âHi Hailey.â Kevin said.
âBye Hailey,â Will continued, before grabbing his brother's arm and yanking him away from her. Hailey sat there in shock as they walked away, talk about a let down.
Jay huffed, ripping his arms away. âWhat was that?â He snapped.
âIt was us saving your ass.â
4 - they donât talk about the future, and put each other in itâŚ
Hailey shifted in her seat, turning her body slightly towards the center console. She held up the camera in her hand, looking through the lens. She snapped a picture of the license plate of the car that just rolled up.Â
âYou see that?â Jay asked from the driver's seat, leaning back. Hailey nodded, taking another picture. Jay scribbled down the make and model into his notes before they watched the driver re-enter the car and drive away.Â
A few minutes went by and they sat in silence once again, they had been on a stakeout for several hours and all they had to show for it was a few license plates. Hailey sighed, âSo, the Sergeants exam sign up was posted this week.â She said, bringing up something sheâd been meaning to for several weeks.Â
âOkay?â Jay said, âYou planning on taking it?â He asked, chuckling.Â
Hailey shook her head, laughing lightly. âMe? No way. I think you should.âÂ
âWhat?â Jay, finally looked over at her.Â
Hailey looked at him in disbelief, he really hadnât thought about it? âJay, youâve been a detective for almost ten years, donât you feel like itâs time to take the next step?â She asked.
Jay shrugged, âI hadnât really thought about it...maybe in a couple more years. Why? You sick of me?â He teased.
âNo,â Hailey said, rolling her eyes. âI just want you to succeed, and Voight has always said youâll take the unit one dayâŚâ
âYeah, one day.â He said, cracking a smile. To be honest, he had thought about the test, but he wasnât sure he was ready to potentially move on from Intelligence or from his partner.Â
Hailey turned to face him completely, âWell, when one day comes, Iâll help you study.âÂ
Jay watched her, her smile so genuine. He had just said that he was going to wait a couple more years, and Hailey intended to be there for them. âSo, youâre keeping me around?âÂ
âYeah, you havenât pissed me off yet.â Jay gave her a look, âMuch.â Hailey took a breath. âIâm serious Jay, Iâve got your back, no matter what, no matter when.â
âThanks.â Jay said, squinting at her.Â
Hailey scoffed, âYou sound surprisedâŚâÂ
Jay shook his head, âIâm not surprised, itâs just nice to hear you say it.â He turned to face her, âWe donât talk like this very much.âÂ
âYeah, cause you show emotion once every three weeks.â Hailey teased, slapping his bicep.
âOh, youâre one to talk.âÂ
Hailey laughed along with him, leaning her head against the window. âJay, you know Iâd follow you anywhere, even to another unit. Iâm not losing this.â She gestured between the two of them.
Jay nodded, he knew she was talking about their partnership, but couldnât help but hope she meant something else. âI know, and youâll always have a spot, wherever I am.âÂ
âGood.âÂ
5 - they donât stand around playing with their keys, finding reasons not to leaveâŚ
âJay, can you stop hovering.â Hailey said, turning to face him. He had been following her around her kitchen for fifteen minutes while she did random things. He had brought her home from the hospital a few hours earlier, and he hadnât left her alone since.Â
She was tackled down by a suspect earlier that morning and after getting checked out by Will, they learned that she had a few bruised ribs. It was nothing too serious, but it was enough for Jay to have a mini aneurysm about it, which is why Hailey was coming close to stabbing him with the knife she was trying to put away.Â
Jay took a step back at her harsh words, putting his hands up. âIâm sorry, I just donât want you to hurt yourself.â
Hailey stood up straight, placing her hands on her hips. âI think Iâm capable of unloading my dishwasher.âÂ
âAlright,â He said, admitting defeat. He grabbed his keys off the counter and headed towards the door. âIâll see you tomorrow.âÂ
âSee you, thanks for dinner.â She said kindly, before turning back to her work.Â
Jay opened the door, watching her for a few more seconds. He was about to leave when heard a thud, followed by a hiss. Within seconds, the door was slammed shut and he was back by her side. âHailey.â He said, picking up the bowls that fell on the floor.
She huffed, leaning against the counter, hand draped over her stomach to cover her rib. âIâm fine, I just couldnât reach.â She explained, nodding at the open cabinet.Â
Jay sighed, âYouâre not fine.â He set the stack of bowls neatly in the cabinet before turning to face her. âCome on.âÂ
Hailey rolled her eyes and followed him into the living room, sitting down on the couch next to him. He threw a blanket over her before getting up again. âWhat are you doing?â Hailey called after him.
There were sounds of rummaging in the kitchen, and then a few seconds later Jay appeared with a glass of water and a bottle of ibuprofen. âHere.â He said, âYou should take these.âÂ
He handed her the cup and Hailey took it gratefully. âThanks.âÂ
âYeah,â He took a step back, standing next to the couch. He shifted nervously, keeping his eyes on her. âWell, I guess Iâm gonna go. Promise me youâll stay put?â He asked, and Hailey nodded. âOkay, Goodnight Hailey.â He said, before walking out of the room.
Hailey sighed, as much as she hated being fawned over, she didnât want him to leave. âJay!â She yelled.
Two seconds later he was standing in front of her again, âYeah?âÂ
âIâm probably going to need your laterâŚâ She said, watching a smile appear on his face. âDo you just want to stay?âÂ
âYes.â He said immediately, âI meanâŚâ He rubbed the back of his neck. âIf you really need me to.âÂ
Hailey laughed, âI do.â Jay took it as an invitation to reclaim his seat on the couch, pulling the other half of the blanket over him. Hailey leaned her head on his shoulder and stayed put, exactly like she promised she would.
but we doâŚ
Hailey sat with her head resting in her hand as she watched Jay from across the room. She was staring, and it was obvious, but he was too busy chatting up some girl to notice her gaze. Mollyâs was crowded, like normal, but tonight she had decided to sit alone. She had been watching the girl flirt with her partner for a while now, and she didnât want to bring anyone else down with her mood.Â
She thought things had changed, that maybe Jay felt the same way about her, but the look on his face right now was telling her otherwise. Hailey sighed, averting her gaze and staring absently at her phone, trying to distract herself. It wasnât working.Â
âYou know,â A familiar redhead said as they slid into the seat across from her, âYou could just tell him how you feel.â
Hailey sat up straight, looking at the other Halstead in disbelief. âWhat?âÂ
Will laughed, âDonât even deny it Hailey, Iâve been watching you make eyes at my brother for the last hour.âÂ
âIâm not making eyes.â She snapped, keeping her gaze trained on him.Â
âOkay.â Will said, taking a sip of his beer. âJust for the record, I think you would be satisfied with his answer.â
Hailey jumped off her stool, throwing a ten down on the table. She was glad she had decided to only have one beer, she was sober enough to get the hell out of there. âGoodnight Will.â She said shortly before rushing towards the door, not giving her partner a second glance as she passed.Â
Jay watched the blur of blonde hair fly past him, noticing that it was Hailey walking out the door. His eyebrows laced together and he stood, âIt was really great to see you Marissa, but I need to go.â He said quickly before grabbing his jacket and racing out the door after his partner, he was gone so fast that he didnât even hear the girl say goodbye.
âHailey!â He called after her.
Hailey turned around, she was only a feet ahead of him, she blamed her short legs. âIâm fine Jay, go back to your date.â She said a little harsher than she meant to before turning to walk away again.Â
âDate?â He asked, grabbing her hand and pulling her back to him. âHailey, that was Willâs ex-girlfriend, I was friends with her brother in high school, we were just catching up.âÂ
Hailey scoffed, âThat little shit, ugh, it doesnât matter. You donât have to explain yourself to me Jay, weâre just friends.âÂ
Jay ran his hands through his hair, letting out an exasperated sigh. âAre we?â He snapped. That got Haileyâs attention, she watched him closely as he took a step forward. âHailey, Iâve to convince myself that there was nothing here, because you are my best friend. But friends donât act the way we do, I saw you watching me tonight, that wasnât a âfriendlyâ look.â He said.Â
Hailey blushed, looking at the ground. âJay-â
He tilted her chin up to look at him. âYou can lie to yourself all you want, but I canât. I love you Hailey...and I think you love me too.â Hailey swore she stopped breathing for a second, his eyes were locked on her and she couldn't believe what he was saying. She searched his face for any trace of regret or concern for her, because half of her still thought she was hallucinating. âFeel free to say something-â She reached up and pulled him down to her, attaching their lips. Jay arms secured themselves around Haileyâs waist as he lifted her up to meet his height, her arms wrapping around his neck.
Jay held her tightly against him, his lips never leaving hers. Finally, Hailey pulled away, breathless. âFor the record,â She said, taking a deep breath, her hand running down the side of his face. âYouâre my best friend too.â Jay smiled, but she knew he was waiting for something else. âAnd I love you too.âÂ
âŚ
A/N: Iâve had the idea for this fic for forever, so Iâm glad I finally had a reason to write it. Iâve been a Maddie & Tae (ft. lyrics from âFriendâs Donât) fan since the beginning and Iâve always thought that this song was the Upstead anthem. Itâs perfect for them. Thanks for reading!

Like Real People Do
Ship: Jiang Cheng/Wen Ning Rating: T Summary: This is an expansion upon/continuation of 'Warmth', a drabble I posted in June where Wen Ning and Jiang Wanyin have begun to spend their nights together. It isn't necessary to read that to understand this but it is only 100 words, so why not?
AO3 link
If Wen Ning had any circulation to be cut off, he's quite certain his arm would be asleep right now with the way Jiang Wanyin was sleeping on it. He squeezed his hand into a fist and opened it again as if it had and he needed to get the blood flowing. If he were being honest, this was not very comfortable. Wanyin had been laying on his chest before, that was comfortable, but then he had to roll over and pin Wen Ning's arm to the bed. He wanted to move. There was no real reason to move, it's not like staying like this was going to hurt him, so he looked over at the man causing the dilemma and sighed, deciding it wasn't worth potentially waking him.
It was nearly morning anyway so he wouldn't have to wait too long, there was no way this arrangement of theirs was going to be completely comfortable for him all of the time anyway. When it first happened nearly three months ago he never expected it to become a nightly routine. The two of them often found themselves in the same places and while they made a valiant attempt to ignore each other completely, they had too many shared connections in this world and those connections were determined to bring them together. The first time they talked, really had a conversation, was the night Wei Wuxian got married. Wanyin was feeling melancholic and happened to find the same spot in the Cloud Recesses Wen Ning always went to be alone. It didn't take long to figure out he was extremely drunk. In retrospect that was probably the only reason why the conversation happened, it probably didn't even matter who he was talking to, but Wen Ning felt honored to be trusted with the feelings Wanyin voiced that night.
That was also the first night they slept together. Or, Wanyin slept and Wen Ning held him. It was nice, Sandu Shengshou wanting to be held was a surprise and Wen Ning was sure he was going to be yelled at and kicked out in the morning, but Wanyin was warm and it felt nice to be with another person and to have a physical connection. On the other hand he was also filled with anxiety, fully expecting things to turn bad. But the morning came and Jiang Wanyin opened his eyes and though it was covered quickly Wen Ning was sure he saw something like relief in them.
"You're still here." Wanyin said in a groggy, still halfway asleep kind of voice.
It wasn't angry or an accusation like Wen Ning would have expected so he just nodded, gave an awkward smile and said "I'm still here."
A month after that Wen Ning accompanied Wei Wuxian to Lotus Pier and it happened again. Only this time Jiang Wanyin wasn't drunk, and Wen Ning stayed. His excuse was that he wanted to stay with Sizhui, who was staying with Jin Ling, who was here. But then a week passed and Sizhui left and he stayed and there were no more excuses. It was odd. It was sudden. And was still odd if he thought about it for too long. They never talked about that first night after it happened and they never talked about these nights here. It almost felt as if speaking about it would break the spell. All of the progress they have made interacting peacefully, or as peacefully as possible with someone like Jiang Wanyin, would shatter and he would be hated again and he would be forced to leave Lotus Pier. These nights of warmth would end.
So Wen Ning just seemed to be living here for the last two months and no one knew why and since the clan leader said nothing, neither did anyone else. There was one exception, Wei Wuxian knew why now. It was about a week ago when Wei Wuxian showed up suddenly to Yunmeng and decided on a whim to enter Lotus Pier in the middle of the night and surprise his brother by barging into his room to announce his arrival. He was most likely treating it like some sort of prank, expecting to be yelled at in a way he found entertaining. What he was not expecting was to find Wen Ning in his brother's bed. Wei Wuxian froze and stared for a moment, giving Wanyin enough time to wake up and process what just happened, and then burst out laughing.
"Shit, I'm so sorry" Wei Wuxian choked out in between laughs, "I shouldn't laugh, I shouldn't, sorry!"
Still laughing of course.
"GET OUT!" Jiang Wanyin looked ready to kill someone and might have acted on that if Wei Wuxian hadn't nodded and left, managing to hold what was left of his laughter in
Wanyin avoided the both of them the next day and Wen Ning was scared, more scared than he had been prepared to be, that it was over now. Wei Wuxian promised not to tell, but did want to talk to Wen Ning about it. That conversation was excruciating.
"Jiang Cheng can be intense and I know you're both lonely but I just want to make sure this isn't hurting you. Either of you" Wei Wuxian said, sincerity mostly replacing his amusement
Wen Ning was mortified, talking too quickly and stuttering as a result, "Wei-gongzi, please, this isn't what you're thinking!" He managed to get out, "It's just something that happened and it's just sleeping. Nothing else! It's just-"
"Just what?" Wei Wuxian asked.
Wen Ning didn't know how to answer. It was a good question. What the hell was this?
"I don't know what. I do know I don't want it to stop. I know we've been getting along much better-"
That made Wei Wuxian suddenly laugh again, "I would hope so! He's letting you in his bed with him every night, he definitely likes you now."
"I don't know about that" Wen Ning argued, "We argue, he yells all of the time."
"Jiang Cheng yells to express his affection" Wei Wuxian smiled.
"He yells to express everything."
That got another loud laugh before Wei Wuxian leaned forward, grabbed his hands, and when their eyes met he could still see some amusement there "Ah, Wen Ning, don't be stupid like me, okay?"
Wen Ning did not have the slightest idea what he meant by that but looking over at Wanyin sleeping soundly crushing his arm, he knew he couldn't bring himself to move. And it wasn't for convenience, it was because Wanyin slept so soundly. It was because he was the only person who ever got to see Wanyin like this and he wasn't going to give up a moment of it.
What were they doing?
What the hell were they doing?
What the hell was he doing?
A groan and some shifting next to him told him this night was over. Wanyin turned back toward him and sat up slowly. This was...different? Wanyin stared at him for far longer than was comfortable with a contemplative expression.
"What's wrong with you?" He asked, direct as ever even this early.
Wen Ning blinked, "What?"
"Don't 'what' me! You look like you're about to cry. What's wrong with you?" He shouted, brows furrowing as he became more frustrated.
Wen Ning took in a sharp breath. He hadn't realized he was letting his emotions show like that. He certainly did not want to have this talk right this second. He looked at Wanyin's face and thought about how immediately his features became much harder when he woke. He looked so much older this way. He looked angry but Wen Ning was slowly learning to see behind the anger. Once upon a time Wanyin's tone in his questioning would make Wen Ning shrink back and feel attacked but now he can hear the concern in it. Jiang Wanyin was worried about him. That realization hit him in a way he couldn't have seen coming and if he could cry he might have started.
"It's nothing." Wen Ning lied, "You've slept in some, get dressed and go have breakfast."
Wanyin stared at him for another agonizing second before deciding to let it go for the moment.
"Don't tell me what to do" He barked as he got up from the bed and began to get dressed.
Wen Ning smiled softly and only let it drop when Wanyin left the room. Not now. He couldn't have that conversation now. He couldn't risk breaking this.
"Don't be stupid like me, okay?"
Wen Ning groaned and let himself fall back on the bed as he suddenly realized what Wei Wuxian was talking about. He let himself fall in love without even realizing. He was so fucked. Their conversation implied Wei Wuxian believed Wanyin loved him back but there was no way he could know for sure. He wanted to call Wanyin back in and tell him everything he realized overnight. He wanted to run and hide and never see Wanyin again. He wanted to know how Wanyin felt. He absolutely did not want to know how Wanyin felt. He hated this. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before sitting back up and deciding to meditate. There was nothing he could do right now, so why was he panicking? Wanyin would be taking care of sect business most of the day and he would have time to collect his thoughts.
Despite his attempts not to worry, it started getting dark without Wen Ning realizing how much time had passed. He'd been hiding in Wanyin's room all day, knowing he wouldn't come back until dark, but now it was getting closer to the time he wouldn't be able to avoid. Talking to Wanyin. He looked around the room and took it all in just in case. Made sure he memorized every detail he could in case he was right all along and talking about it was going to ruin things. As prepared as he could be he stepped out of the room. It took some looking but he found Wanyin in a secluded area of Lotus Pier. A beautiful spot with a view of the water where they both sometimes went to enjoy the peace.
Not giving him a chance to turn back Wanyin looked over at him immediately, "Oh, so you're done avoiding me now?"
Wen Ning did flinch at that tone. He hadn't meant to hurt him but he remembered how it felt to be avoided the day Wei Wuxian found out and felt guilt set in.
"I'm sorry" Wen Ning started, "I've been thinking about things, we should talk"
Wanyin visibly steeled himself, "About what?"
Wen Ning took a deep breath, "Wanyin, what are we doing?"
Silence. Definitely not the worst answer he could have gotten but it did nothing to quell his anxieties. He took several steps closer so that they were standing face to face. From here he could see clearly he wasn't alone in that anxiety. He guessed Wanyin wanted to scream right now since that was how he usually dealt with things and Wen Ning felt grateful he wasn't doing that now.
"Wei Wuxian freaked you out, didn't he?" Wanyin was gritting his teeth, holding something in Wen Ning couldn't place, "No one is forcing you to be here. You can just go if you want."
"Do you want me to go?" Wen Ning said with a shaky breath, taking another step closer.
"Why would I care?"
But Wen Ning could see it. Behind the clenched jaw, and the frown, and the angry furrow of his brows, he was just as afraid as Wen Ning had been. Maybe he would never understand how this started, why Wanyin wanted him here, but he was here now and had no intention of leaving. Wanyin was fooling no one by saying he didn't care and it was time to call his bluff. Wen Ning let the silence go on as he built up his nerve and closed the distance between them, bringing their lips together softly at first to give Wanyin a chance to back out but kissing him fully when he did not. He cupped Wanyin's face in his hands and pulled him in deeper, smiling lightly when he felt Wanyin's hands flail a bit, not seeming to be able to decide where to land. He settled for holding on to Wen Ning's arms.
It was awkward and brief and the most thrilling experience Wen Ning had ever had. He had never kissed anyone before. When they pulled back his head was spinning and all he wanted was to go back for more.
"I'm staying right here."
They fell into bed that night still kissing and letting their hands explore. Wen Ning kissed from Wanyin's mouth to his jaw, and relished in the gasp Wanyin gave when he got to his neck. He was sure he could do this forever, the rest of their talk could wait. They eventually had to roll back over, Wanyin laying on his chest slowly falling asleep. Wen Ning held him firm and watched his breath even out, closing his eyes and letting his own breath sync with it and it almost felt like sleep. He could feel Wanyin's heartbeat on his chest, he could feel the ghost of Wanyins lips on his, and now more than ever, he felt warm.

Part 11 of âOh Sweet Child, The Things Iâd Do for You...â
Summary: Â Tony's out of his element. Heâs ignorant to many things in relation to offering someone else comfort, but closure and vengeance is one thing heâs damn good at.
Rating: Teen (For language and Thematic Material)
Warning: Self-loathing and lack of care for life, mentions of abuse, and slightly graphic dialogue towards the end (maybe too graphic, but I got caught up in the moment; sue me).
Word Count: 4.5k
Previous Chapter ~ Masterlist ~ Read on Ao3 ~Â Next Chapter
Peterâs there for days, maybe weeks, he couldnât keep track at this point. Heâs glad he had the foresight to warn Ned of his absence. His friend would definitely be the leading cause behind filing a missing persons report, because he knows Beck wouldnât do it, content to mooch off of CPS as long as possible. And Peter really didnât need anyone out looking for him. He didnât even want to think about the turmoil and stress that would ensue. He didnât want to deal with it. Ever.
He just wanted to lie here on this couch forever, stare at the fire crackling in the fireplace and watch the orange light bleed through the darkness of Mr. Starkâs home. It reminded him of that night heâd followed Mr. Stark here⌠he missed him. Still.
He wasnât afraid to admit it anymore at all; not even ashamed. He missed him. And he felt so incredibly guilty for turning the manâs world entirely upside down. If Peter hadnât acted so carelessly none of this would be happening. Tony wouldnât be on the run, Beck wouldnât have found out about Spider-Man, and Peter wouldnât be slowly starving to death, lying here on Starkâs couch, the licks of flames dancing up from the fire cradling him in a hypnotic trance.Â
There was food in the kitchen, he knew there was, but just the thought of food made him sick, and he knew if he did try to stand he wouldnât have a chance at making it that far before passing out.Â
Heâd long since accepted the fact that heâd die at a young age due to his vigilante hobby, but he must admit he never expected it to happen this young, especially not since Mr. Stark started showing up every moment he needed him. He hadnât failed him once⌠until now. Now that Peter needs him⌠heâs not here. He stares down at the shattered face of the watch heâs been clutching in his hand since he arrived. Mr. Stark wasnât coming back, and that was something Peter would have to accept. How could he come back, with all these people looking for him? Itâd be impossible and probably the stupidest decision the man could make. But of course Peterâs still clinging to that childish hope that heâd see him again. Preferably before he wastes away here on this very couch.
Though at this rate, it didnât seem like that was likely to happen. He didnât even feel the pangs of hunger anymore, and he could feel his body slowly shutting down. It felt almost like a relief to be ridded of that constant ache in his stomach.
Heâs been living off of that one school lunch meal for a week, and Peter could feel the definition of his bones when he ran a shaky hand over his ribs, or along his shoulder and arms. It wasnât healthy by any means, but what did he care? There would be no âlong runâ to worry about, just the next couple of days before he peacefully slipped off to sleep into a gentle void of nothingness. And if this is what those last couple of days felt like⌠then he had nothing left to worry about.Â
He drifted off, muscles and body aching from lying in the same position he had been for days. He had nice dreams, most consisting of finally being with Aunt May again, and his parents. They were waiting for him when he arrived and he was so, so happy to see them, it brought tears to his eyes. He didnât know why he hadnât thought of doing this before. No one but Ned wouldâve missed him⌠and Ned would get over it-- will get over it.
Something draws him out of his dream just before he falls too far, and at first he thought it was the usual convulsing of his stomach urging him to vomit up some bile, or perhaps the heat of a fever and a throbbing headache, but it was none of those.Â
Instead, it was a soft, light pressure against the side of his face. A small, calloused pad of warmth slowly stroking along his cheek, beneath his eye. It made his nose tickle, and his nostrils flared in response to the touch. His ears slowly cue in, and heâs hit with a sudden cacophony of noise. From the light sound of traffic several blocks down, and the small crackling of the dimming fire in the fireplace, all the way to the soft words belonging to a voice all too familiar, yet entirely unidentifiable.
âPete?â The voice cracks with anxious distress. âCâmon Pete, wake up.âÂ
Then thereâs a gentle hand on his shoulder, and all feelings along his skin and limbs begin to return. Heâs being shaken back and forth, head lolling from side to side, but his groggy mind confuses it with⌠he didnât know what it was. He just knows that everything feels numb and sensitive all at the same time.Â
The warm embrace against the side of his face disappears, and something scratchy and pokey is pressed gently against his lips, urging them to part. âCâmon Pete,â the voice begs again.Â
His tongue felt heavy and thick, weighed down by congealed saliva, but the pressure broke past the barrier of his lips despite it. He still couldnât force himself to open his eyes.Â
The potent taste of salt hits his tongue and it sends a sudden shock through his whole system, like it finally realized it was in the waking world. The groggy convulsion alerts the voice of his slight awareness and now his body is manhandled into a sitting position. Even though his eyes are beginning to peek open he has no strength left in his limbs to try and fight the external force. Heâs leant up against a warm cushion-y surface, a heavy weight settling over his shoulders as the culprit for the salt is pushed past his lips once more.Â
He bites down slowly, crumbs falling off at the corners of his mouth and the voice from earlier is quick to praise him.Â
âGood job, kiddo. Câmon, just a little more.â The taste sits heavy in his mouth and it slowly grows soggy atop his tongue, which urges him to swallow it. And, it seemed that the moment it slid down his throat, his body remembered all that it was missing and he was hit with a sharp pang in his abdomen, and heâs quick to take another bite.Â
His head lolls to the side, the cracker pushed back against his mouth, and his forehead pressed against something warm, engulfing him with a strong whiff of aftershave and alcohol. And slowly heâs able to piece together the warm shape heâs pressed against: an arm around his shoulders, a solid body sitting beside him, and the sharp outline of a jaw propped atop his head. Meaning the warmth bringing life back to his frozen nose and face must be the neck and shoulder.Â
His mind can only conjure one person to picture with him in this scenario. However unrealistic it was.
â âny?â Most of itâs a groan, but it mustâve been articulate enough for the voice to understand, and heâs instantly blanketed in more warmth and praise, pulled even closer to the warm body.Â
âYes! Itâs me. Itâs Tony, kid.â The jaw resting on his head moves slightly in a way he couldnât fully discern, and itâs followed by a soft but strong protrusion pressing against the top of his head, warm air passing over his scalp in short spurts before the jaw returns to its place.
It makes Peter smile. Heâs not entirely sure why yet, but the warmth that blooms across his chest enlivens him in a way he never thought heâd experience ever again.Â
He eats more crackers, and he sips water through a straw regularly pressed to his lips as well. He doesnât know how many he eats or how much he drinks, but soon enough the feelings begin to slowly bleed back, urging life back into his limbs and his brain. His stomach wasnât very happy, but that didnât come as a surprise to him
âYou feeling better kiddo? Thatâs almost the whole pack.â A heavy hand is pressed to his face, then migrates up to pet his hair. âI donât know whatâs good to feed ya when youâre like this. You gotta help me out here.â
âMm,â Peter groans. He knows it's unhelpful, but his belly felt stuffed and now all he could think about was how cold he was. The penthouse was warm and cozy, but it seemed ever since he arrived, Peter still couldnât shake that chill that had settled in his bones. The thought alone made him shiver.
âAre you still thirsty?â The voice sounded nervous. âYeah, youâre probably still thirsty. Lemme go get some more water.â The body begins to move away, which meant so was the warmth.Â
A strong tremble travels along Peterâs body with nervous anticipation, the muscles in his fingers spasming to grip at the person desperately before they could leave him alone.Â
âHey, hey, whatâs wrong?â A strong hand grabs his fingers, gripping them gently between their larger ones. âYou with me? You okay?â
âMm,â Peter replies unhelpfully once more. He may not be able to reason or ruminate just yet, but he does know that heâs cold. He grabs the fingers around his and holds on tight, searching out warmth once more by diving his head back towards the warm cushion-y barrier from before and rooting himself there.
âOkay, okay.â The arm around his shoulders moves to rub warmth into his other arm, encircling him completely in the embrace. âWhyâd you do this to yourself, Pete?â The voice whispers, a palpable despair in their tone. âYou scared me.â
âMm,â Peter hummed, eyelids pulsing open and closed with a firm determination to remain awake. His vision was blurred with soft orange light and the hard blackness of shadows. A sight heâs come to find as quite familiar and ironically comforting.
He feels better this time when he is pulled to sleep. Not so much on the brink of death anymore, but he feels heâs still teetering precariously close to that cliff. Though despite the nonsense the thought made, he knew the voice and the warmth would hold on tightly, and they wouldnât let him fall.
***
He wakes up, warm and comfy in a nice big bed. He rolls onto his side with a groan, stomach screaming with hunger, and he lifts a hand to rub his fingers over his burning eyes. His entire body felt like itâd been wrung through a trash compactor. And he didnât know how he ended up in a bed⌠He opened his eyes and looked around the room, then cursed under his breath. He was in Tonyâs bed. In all the time heâs stayed hidden away in this penthouse, heâd stayed on that damned couch. He didnât know what had occured last night to result in him crawling his way into this room.
His muscles felt weak and very unsteady, but he forced himself out of bed anyway. He needed to get out of that room, he needed to get back to the couch. He struggled opening the door, and he clutched at the wall as he stumbled and tripped his way back towards the main room. It didnât even occur to him to question the light bleeding down the hall via the opened curtains scattering around the place. This morning wasnât making any sense anyway, it didnât matter.Â
He was a little more than halfway there when he collapsed, his left leg giving out first, tripping up his balance and toppling him to the wooden floor. He lands with a heavy bang, and he winces at the dull throb that resulted in his side.
âPeter?!â Loud footsteps follow the exclamation, and Peterâs entire body seizes with shock.Â
Was that??
It was.
Tony appears from around the corner seconds later, crouching in front of him with bulging plastic bags draped from his arms, hands reaching out towards him to help him off the ground.Â
âWhat in the world are you doing out of bed, kid? I told you to stay put.â And before Peter could even put up a protest, he was being lifted into the air and led back down the hall the way he came, back into Tonyâs room.Â
It was like heâd just returned from the dentist, cotton stuffed in his mouth, tongue paralyzed, and brain conjuring weird loop-de-loops because he was still high on the pain meds. Because Mr. Stark was here. Carrying him.Â
If he wasnât so startled and shocked by the manâs sudden appearance, heâd surely be mortified, but all he could do was stare dubiously at the side of his face as they walked. Then he was being lowered gently back into the bed, and as soon as Tony released him he dropped the bags from his arms and they hit the floor with muted thumps. Giving the man the freeness to meticulously tuck the sheets and cover back over Peterâs frailing body.Â
Any semblance of flesh had withered off his bones, thanks to his recent lack of appetite.Â
There was a harsh line molded between Tonyâs brows as he messed anxiously with the sheets, and then turned his fixations towards the bags heâd just dropped. Peter didnât speak a word during the entire ordeal, still unsure if this was just some weird dream or not.Â
âI picked up some stuff from the convenient store down the block. Thisâll do much better than those Saltines from last night.â He lifts up the bottle of red gatorade to show, cracks open the lid, then plops a little bendy straw into the opening. âI wouldâve gotten the ones with the sippy cup caps, yâknow,â he rambled, sitting down on the mattress beside him and holding the straw up to his lips with shaky fingers, âbut this was all they had. Iâm assuming your favorite color is red, but I got all the other colors too.â Just as Peter takes a tentative sip, Tony pulls it back looking as if he was in the midst of a panic. âDamn, I shouldâve asked you what flavor you wanted. Do you want blue instead? I can get the blue one,â Tony bends down so quickly it almost gives Peter whiplash, hand and head disappearing beside the bed, the rustling of plastic bags sounding during the frantic search. Then Tony sits up to brandish the blue gatorade, offering it towards him instead. âOr I've got green⌠and the white one.â
They stare at each other for several moments, and Peterâs not entirely sure what Tony expects him to say, so he settles with something simple.
âI-I like red.â
The straw is back at his lips and Tonyâs nodding a little too feverishly. âYeah, yeah, see I knew that.â
Peter sips on the drink, Tony watches him, and that little worried crease between his eyebrows doesnât go away.
When heâs finished, he pulls away from the straw and leans back against the pillow, finally feeling a bit refreshed. Just as Tony begins to insist he drink more, Peter asks his question. âWhat are you doinâ here?â
Tony scoffs at him, an offended frown coming over his face. âThis is my house. I should be the one asking you that question.â
And really, that was a good point. Peter didnât know why he was here either. He drops his gaze to stare at his lap. He didnât mean to worry the man, or get in his way⌠he just wanted someplace warm to stay.
ââM sorry.â He mumbled softly, a heaviness overcoming his eyes with the pressure building behind them.Â
âShit, kid, I didnât mean-- I didnât mean it like that.â Tonyâs hot palm presses against the side of his neck, thumb dipping under his chin to force his gaze back up. âIâm just worried âbout you. I came home and found you on my couch, passed out and-and small as a twig, pale, and I didnât know what to do.â
Peter leans into the touch without thought, absorbing the tender affection like he was starved for it.Â
âI didnât know where else to go,â Peter whispers, tears finally beginning to fall from his eyes. The thumb tucked beneath his chin quickly moves to soothe over his cheeks, brushing the fallen tears away. It forces a smile from Peter, a bittersweet, desperate smile, formed with quivering lips.Â
Tony rips his hand away, suddenly and violently, like heâd only just realized what he was doing, stumbling away from the edge of the bed. He shook out the hand thatâd been against Peterâs cheek like it had been infected with an abhorrent substance, and the man turned his back to Peter, other hand lifting to run through his hair while he cursed under his breath.Â
He avoids Peterâs eyes when he does turn back around. He points towards the gatorade sitting on the bedside table and clears his throat before delivering his instructions. âDrink all of that. Iâll be back soon.âÂ
He shuffles from the room, grabbing one of the plastic bags on his way, and Peter can hear his distant mutterings under his breath as he leaves the room. It left an odd sense of emptiness in him, and he turned to look at the small bottle of red gatorade.Â
He didnât reach for it, opting to watch the door. Awaiting Tonyâs return.
Tony reappeared after several minutes, looking much less perturbed than when he had left. He came bearing soup and he set it down beside the empty bottle. He kept his distance this time though. The worried line between his brows were gone, taking upon an unperturbed expresion⌠simply gesturing with his head towards the steaming bowl.
He pulls up a chair, and when Peter still hadnât made a move for the soup and Tony remained under his unyielding stare. After several more moments, and Peter had yet to move, Tony reached over to place the bowl gently in his lap. It wasnât full by any means, so Peter didnât worry about it spilling.Â
âPeter, you have to eat,â he nods down towards the bowl again. âAnd while you eat, I want you to tell me everything that happened while I was gone. Everything that got you to this point.â He waves his finger in a circular motion in gesture to his body, fixing Peter with a stern look, and Peter drops his head shyly.
âCan-can I eat first?â
âSure.â
Peter eats as slow as possible under Tonyâs watchful eye. Sadly, however, there was only a finite amount of soup and when Peter was finished, Tony was ready to talk, taking the bowl from his hands and putting it to the side.Â
âAlright, kid, spill.â Tony had his serious frown on; the same one Peter remembered he wore during the couple lectures he gave in the past. âNo skimping on details.â
Peter turns his gaze away from him, skin prickling with anxiety. âMy foster dad found out I was Spider-Man⌠an-and he thought I was working for you. I just⌠it made him really angry and I just wanted to get away! So, I came to look for you, but you werenât here and I thought you were never coming backâŚâ
Heâs bowing his head to hide his tears, meaning he didnât realize Tony had gotten out of his chair until he was settling beside him on the bed, and Peterâs head snapped up to look at him when he felt the matress dip. The man sat right beside him, shoulder pressing up against his, and the worry line making a reappearance.Â
âIâm sorry, I shouldnât have left you like that.â
âI-Iâm not your responsibility,â Peter argues, âyou shouldnât feel sorry. Iâm the one that screwed everything up and ruined your life.â He felt the trembling in his lips begin once more and he turns his head to hide it. âEverything thatâs happened⌠to you⌠to me. Itâs all my fault.â
Strong fingers grab his chin and force his gaze back, and Tonyâs glaring down at him. âNo, none of this is your fault.â
âAre you stupid?!â Peter bites, cheeks heating up with both frustration and embarrassment. He shakes off Tonyâs grip on his chin. âYou told me to stay away from those weapons, but I didnât listen! And then I end up getting into trouble, and you felt the need to come rescue me!â He grips his hair, pulling at the curls in frustration and turning back to his lap as he continues to ramble. âAnd-and itâs my fault that I left my suit on my floor before bed. So itâs my fault when Beck found them,â he turns his gaze back up to Tony, tears now flowing freely from his eyes, âand itâs my fault that I didnât fight back. Iâm Spider-Man⌠itâs-itâs, he should have no power over me and-and he only has it because Iâm scared.â
Tonyâs grip is softer this time when he grabs his chin.Â
âHey,â he soothes, lifting his other hand to wipe away the tears, âdonât you ever blame yourself for this. Youâre a kid, Iâm an adult, and itâs my job to keep you safe.â His gaze turns steely, and Peter feels his grip tighten slightly on his chin. âI just need to know one thing Peter⌠did he hurt you?â
The silence and the immediate influx of tears was apparently enough confirmation for the man, and he instantly releases Peter, a tight growl rumbling through his chest as he pushes himself off the bed. Peter sees the orange flareup appearing above the manâs collar, climbing up the veins of his neck. He knew well enough to know Tonyâs intentions.Â
âNo,â he chokes, diving after the man. He grabs a strong fistful of his shirt before he could get too far, and Tony turns to look down at him, his blue eyes vivid as ever. âPlease donâtâŚâÂ
âPeter,â Tony growls, a tight rumbling passing through him. âHeâs not getting away with this. Heâs not getting away with laying his hands on you.â
âPleaseâŚâ Peter begged desperately. âPlease donât kill him⌠Please.â Heâs crying in earnest now, and Tony takes pity.
He grabs Peterâs hand, gently prying it from his clothes to hold firmly in his palm. âPete.â
âPlease donât leave,â Peter tries.Â
He couldnât stand the thought of being responsible for Beckâs death, because then the worldâs point would be proven. Spider-Man was just as bad as Iron Man. Any notion of âheroâ was dead.Â
He knows Tony will kill him. He can see it in his eyes. The rage.
âPlease donât leave me.â
âPeterâŚâ Peterâs tempted to label the sound that emits from the man as a soft whine as Tony slowly sits himself back on the mattress, never releasing his hold of Peterâs hand.Â
âStay.â He tugs Tony closer. If he was close enough to hold onto, Peter could keep him from leaving.Â
âOkay, okay,â Tony relents, scooting back up beside him. Peter doesnât risk doing anything more than pressing his shoulder against him. The touch was enough to draw him comfort for the moment. Just enough to lull him back into a peaceful sleep.
***
Beckâs seething, fisting the red cloth in his hand. Peter was gone⌠and he was in deep shit. There was no way CPS wouldnât investigate him after this. He stares at the undecorated Christmas Tree standing lifelessly in the corner as he downs another swig from his bottle. He grimaces. He didnât usually go immediately for the hard liquor, but the week had been particularly difficult for him. After his Boss found out about Tony Stark being alive⌠it had been chaotic. And it never failed to construct a headache waiting just for him at the end of the day.
There were two sharp knocks at the door, and he flinched in surprise, eyes darting to the clock hung on the wall. 10:48. Who the hell was at his door so late at night?
Before he even had a chance to stand from his easy chair, his door blew in.Â
He leaped from the chair, dropping everything in his hands during his frantic stumble. The bottle shattered on the floor, and the suit soaked up the spilt liquid. He shouted in surprise and stared at the man standing in his doorway.Â
âS-Stark?â
The man in question steps past the threshold, onto the fallen door. His eyes glowed, his entire body illuminated like he was under the light of a strong fire. He doesnât say anything, but Beck thinks he knows why he was here.
Beck slowly moves himself away from the room, backpedaling as quickly as possible, tripping over his own drunken steps. Stark moves closer.Â
âHey, Stark. What are- what are you doinâ here?â
âI think you know.â His voice was gravelly and strained, and Beck shuddered.
âI-I really donât,â he lies. He crashes into the decorative table set up at the beginning of the hall. A potted plant and several books crashing to the floor.Â
Stark steps closer, chin dipping to his chest which only highlights his sharp, shining glare, his head tilting only slightly to the side.
âI reeally think you do.â
Beck falls to the ground.Â
And as Tony begins to gain on him, he starts his rambling. âWhatever that kid told you was a total lie, I swear. He makes up all kinds of stories! Iâve been nothing but hospitable--â Tony grabs him by the throat, lifting him clean off the ground with nothing more than his human arm. Then he squeezes, bringing their faces close as Beck chokes desperately around his hand.Â
âItâs too late,â he whispers into his face, voice calm and soothing, âI remember you⌠how much trouble you were back in the day.â A dangerous grin flitted over Starkâs face. âNothing you say will get you out of this. Iâm going to make you feel every bit of pain my kid suffered at your hands. In fact, if it wasnât for that kid, Iâd slit you open and splash around like a child playing in a puddle, and string your guts around that tree like decorative garlands. You best be glad Iâm a man of my word...â
***
When Peter blinks awake, his head is lying on the pillow, blankets pulled up around his shoulders and Tony sat beside him. Head thrown back against the headboard, mouth open, snoring, and a discarded tablet hanging loosely in his grip atop his lap.Â
Peter smiles, snuggling further into the pillow and pulling the blankets tight around him.Â
He didnât think to pay any mind to the small splatter of red on the cuffs of his shirt.

HC: Hawks gets a pimple
Hawks x Reader
Warnings: fluff! Slight mention of suggestive sexual intercourse and cursing! But thatâs it! Enjoy!
Word Count: 2.7K
Hawks was having a good morning so far. The sunlight peeked through the curtains of his spacious penthouse apartment, letting the orange glow illuminate the usually dark room. His avian like eyes peeked open, dark pupils shrinking at the sudden invasion of brightness. He rose a heavy hand up to block out the light, groaning in reluctance to rise from his comfy bed next to you. Both his eyes opened slowly, remembering that youâd spent the night with him. His golden hues focused in on your sleeping face beside him. He loved moments like these, waking up with you beside him âeven though he had to leave you. It always made his heart swell with warmth.
Once he lazily picked himself out of bed, careful not to wake you, he sent a few sturdy feathers to collect the fallen ones heâd littered on the floor and to dispose of them. He gave you one last look with a satisfied huff and a genuinely loving smile. His light footsteps padded against the hardwood floors as he went to his closet and began to dress for the day, leaving his pants undone so he could take a leak before he left. He slipped into the bathroom and out of habit sparred a glance at himself in the mirror. His eyes shifted to the toilet until he froze. WAITâ
Hawks jerked back around to the mirror and rushed over to the reflective glass, eyes shrunken and horrified at the rather large white bump that protruded from his skin, an irritated flush of his skin surrounding the small pore. âNo, no, no, no, no. Oh fuck, shit, what the hell is that?!â His bare hands rose to gently poke and run his finger along the pus filled pore. He winced at the touch and pain that swelled around his cheek. The dashingly handsome hero had no idea what was now stuck on his face, blemishing his sex appeal and pride.
In a fit of panic he flew to your side and shook you gently awake. â(Y/N). (Y/N) wake up! I need your help!â You stirred and groaned in exhaustion, cracking your eyes open to see your lover with a panicked expression. âMmm... whatâs wrong Keigo?â Your voice was groggy and tired, laced with drowsiness as your body threatened to lull you back to sleep. âThereâs something on my face, I-I donât know what it is. Can you help me cover it up?â Your brows knit together at the urgency in his voice. Why was he freaking out about some cut on his face? He got small scratches all the time. âKeigo itâs just a scratch. Just put a band-aid-â âITS WHITE. Itâs not a scratch!â
Your eyes opened in confusion and the instant you saw his face your pupils narrowed in on the irritated red patch of skin that dawned his right cheek about an inch or two away from the corner of his lips. âKeigo thatâs a pimple. Itâs norma-â âA PIMPLE?!?!â His loud shouting instantly woke you up, and your ears rung in slight irritation at the unexpected squawking. He was urgently pointing towards the small pus head, anxiously awaiting your assistance. âDonât yell babe... itâs not that big of a deal, everyone gets them-â âIâm the number two hero, Iâm a model, I cannot have some... some white thing on my face!! Whatâre people gonna think? That Iâm dirty? Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!â Never before have you seen Hawks so upset about something so small as a pimple. He did pride himself on his looks. He spent hours preening his feathers to have them look their best for the public to keep up his flashy reputation. He knows he looks good. Was this an insecurity seeping through?
âShould I pop it? Will that get rid of it?â He rose his hands up, ready to do the deed himself without hearing an answer. âNo Keigo. Thatâs the worst thing to do. I know itâs tempting but you just need to clean your face and put some ointment on it.â âCan you buy it for me?â It was cute seeing Hawks so insecure about a pimple. Every gets them at least once in their life, it happens, but youâve never seen someone freak out as much as Hawks over ONE pimple. âSure babe, Iâll get you some. But you need to calm down, itâs not that bad-â âIâm so ugly.â â...yes Hawks one pimple makes you the ugliest man in the world.â â...really...?â His wings dropped, looking at his reflection in horror and sadness. âOh my god no. I was just kidding Keigo.â
âDonât play with me like that. This is serious.â âAnd Iâm serious when I tell you itâs gonna be okay and you need to calm down.â He still had a frantic look in his golden eyes once you told him to relax. He nodded and continued to eye the blemish in anger, hoping it would vanish if he glared at it enough. âTell you what babe, letâs put a little bandaid over it with some Neosporin and you can just say got a little scratch from a fight with a villain. Sound good?â âYouâre so smart, love bird. How did I get so damn lucky, or were you the lucky one? Itâs always debatable huh?â
Once he was patched up and covered, he finished getting ready and kissed you goodbye, leaving through the balcony window. He ascended to the skies, wind bursting against his face and sweeping his hair back. His mind was still on the pimple that graced his handsome face. He brought his hand up and scratched his chin in thought. As soon as he got to his agency, he would look up all the fastest ways to get rid of a pimple.
âHey love bird, did ya get the ointment?â âYep, got it right in the cart.â Your eyes cast down to the ointment resting in the temporarily empty cart awaiting to be filled with groceries. âSo I was thinking about what we should have for dinner tonight-â âCan you pick up a few more things?â Your brows furrowed. âLike what?â âFace masks, face scrub, moisturizer, clay masks, oh! Get the charcoal ones too I heard those fuckinâ hurt but work good! Foam wash, some skin oil, sunscreen-â âKeigo are you serious... baby thatâs so much. Itâs just one pim-â âSorry love bird, I gotta go, just use the black card okay? Love ya!â He hung up...
You did as he instructed and bought a lot of skin care products for him, along with some packs of chicken and some of his Georgia WAX coffee. Once you got home and put everything away, you started on dinner. It was rare if Hawks even got home on time, but you always made him some for him to heat up âif he didnât get take out. To your surprise he came home quite earlier. âHey love bird! Did ya get my stuff?â âYeah, itâs all in the bathroom, babe.â âHair clips?â âI already had some Bobby pins.â âYouâre the best.â
When he emerged from the bathroom he had a charcoal face mask on, the messily long strands of blonde hair usually sticking up pinned down to his head and away from his face. You couldnât help but laugh at the silly look on his face and the avoidance of his âmanlyâ patch of scruff on his chin. âWere you worried it would take off your little beard?â â.....yes.â âI wish youâd shave, I hate it.â âWh-What?! I thought you liked it!â âIt looks like pubes on your face.â His face paled, well, as much as you could see. âBaby Iâm kidding.â âOh-â he sighed in relief. âI was about to say there, you werenât complaininâ when I ate you out last ni-â âKEIGO!!!â He laughed at your embarrassment.
After dinner Hawks finally took his face mask off... or well he tried to. He was whining like a baby at how much it hurt. âOw! Ow! Fuck! Why does it hurt so much?!â âYou told me to buy it, you knew the charcoal one was gonna hurt you birdbrain!â âIt said it would get rid of it fast!â âWhoâs fault is that for telling me to buy it!â âItâs the internetâs fault for tellinâ me it worked fast!â Eventually you ripped the mask from his face and stared at all the tiny hairs and unnoticeable pores. âHey look, it-â you looked up at him and stopped once you saw his flushed red face. âBabe you okay?â âI canât feel my face. Do I still have eyebrows?â You burst out laughing. âYes Keiâ.â âWhat about my scruff?â âNope, gone.â âLiar.â
Afterwards you both put on some face masks and lathered each other up in some lotion in a very comforting way, not sexually, although he made some very sly comments that teetered on the edge. Against your wishes, you both ate some chips on the couch watching TV with Hawks shouting and throwing chips. âWHAT THE FUCK!!! THEY CANT KILL HIM OFF LIKE THAT!!!!â âBABE ITS A SHOW!â âITS MY FAVORITE SHOW HE WAS MY FAVORITE CAUSE HE WAS HOT LIKE ME!!!â You rolled your eyes and sighed heavily at his cute childish antics. His eyes moved over to you, a small smile pulling at his lips.
âI love you, birdie.â Your cheeks flushed. âI love you too...â âAh, after three years of dating, a year and a half of livinâ together, and youâre still embarrassed with me tellinâ you I love you? Weâve done worse ya know~â âShut up. Youâre... never around much anymore, and it always makes me happy when we spend time together, but... confessing your feelings... itâs a different kind of happiness all together. Words canât explain how much your words mean to me.â His expression turned sullen. â(Y/N)...â âAnd I know itâs cheesy, itâs stupid, but... itâs how I feel... knowing you still love me even when weâve been apart for so long... I love you, Keigo. Whether you have a pimple or not.â He frowned, eyes narrowing. âYou ruined it.â âReally? Damn. Nothing gets past you does it?â You both shared in playful laughter until the masks were ready to come off.
The next day his skin was clear, surprisingly, perfect and smooth with the exception of his patch of scruff. He had taken a day off work, which was a bit odd but, heroes need a break too I guess? âMmm... good morninâ birdie~â His deep morning voice rumbled against your ear, shaking your core and making a small tingle twinge in the dark pits of your stomach. âM-Morning.â His lips littered the side of your jaw and down your shoulder. âAre you ready for our fun day off, love bird?â âYeah, Iâm uh... pretty excited.â âOh yeah? Well...â His hand slowly slipped down your night gown, trailing his fingers sneakily to the hem while shifting his fingers up. He pressed into your skin to slip a hand into your panties, but you quickly stopped his hand. âLater.â âWhyyyy?â He whined. âUnlike you, I have work.â âOh donât worry! I already called âem and them âem you were spendinâ a day off with me for... personal reasons.â â........â âI-I love you...?â
Hawks still ended up being cock-blocked that morning, but he was awarded some juicy chicken with a side of pancakes. The morning was full of playful banter, loving gazes, and small kisses. âI booked us a massage today.â âOh really? Whenâd you do that?â âYesterday after I called your work.â âThey let you have an appointment last notice?â He laughed. âI am the number two hero, and there are some benefits to being the most popular and handsome man in Japan.â âI think Best Jeanist tops you.â âWhy must you always be so mean to me, Birdie.â âIâm mean cause I love you.â âThatâs not how that works.â â...â â...â âKeigo.â âI know, I know, we wonât talk about it.â Heâs playfully mean and teasing because he loves you too.
Later that afternoon you arrive at the spa and everyone is gawking at Hawks. Who wouldnât? He is the most handsome man in Japan like he said. Oh, letâs not forget the glares some of his fangirls gave you, it never failed to make you a bit uncomfortable. âHey there, weâve got an appointment for two, a couples massage.â âOh! Y-Yes Hawks everything is ready for you!â âAh! Great! Thank you sweets~â He cooes out and sends the lady a friendly wink as she left. His slung his arm protectively around your waist and he kissed your cheek. You pouted. âItâs unbelievable what you can do with your charm.â âTell me about it! I get a lotta free stuff; discounts, free reservations. All that stuff, comes with being so popular, ainât that right?â âFuck off.â
The massage was wonderful, absolutely amazing. It took a lot of the stress off your shoulders and gave you a bit of time to just relax and think about nothing. Your mind was blank, enjoying the silence and feel of someone elseâs hands just rubbing the pain and stress away. There was also a very fashionable and professional facial. It was then you realized it. âHawks, did you book these massages just to get the facial for your skin?â âWell yeah, how else am I gonna keep the pores away?â âYou do realize I bought you like- tons of stuff for home right?â âYeah! But this is more relaxing dontâcha think?â âWell... yeah but-â âJust hush and enjoy the massage love bird.â
You were going to kill him. Bury him six feet under, you wouldnât even attend his funeral. He wouldnât even have a funeral youâd hide the body so well. The massage and the facial Hawks had booked cost way over $2K dollars. But with Hawks and his grade A flirting and charm, the price was knocking back to just $1.95K on the bright side... he saved you $500. Even though he paid. âHawks why did you book such an expensive massage!â âWell, I really wanted the facial but I got more for the bundle, so I just went with that and decided to relax! You canât tell me you didnât like it, love bird.â âOf course I liked it, but just donât spend SO MUCH money. All this over one pimple!â His face flushed. âKeep it down-â you burst into fits of laughter at his embarrassment, you couldnât help it.
He wore face masks everyday after the pimple incident and lathered up lotion before bed, making him all slick when he cuddled you. It was such a clear insecurity you never knew he would have, it was honestly very cute. At dinner when he finally returned home, he heaved a heavy sigh of exhaustion. âIâm home love bird.â He called out with a smile. You approached him immediately with his little face mask and gently pinned his bangs back, putting the cool moistened mask onto his smooth face. âOh? Whatâs this? Givinâ me some special treatment tonight? Whatâd I do?â
âYouâve been freaking out the past couple days, so I figured Iâd help you out just a bit.â A smile spread over your lips as you helped him out of his hero jacket, leading him down the hall to the bedroom. He laid his head against your lap, wings nudging your knees on either side of you while he laid on the bed calmly. âThank you love bird...â âYou donât need to thank me, Keigo. And just so you know...â You leaned down and gently pecked his lips, giving him a sweet upside down kiss. âI love you cause youâre you, not because of your looks. It doesnât matter if youâre covered in thousands of scars and pimples or whatever! As long as youâre my birdie...â His wings fluffed up, eyes going wide. âIâll love you forever, my avian mate.â It was silent until he spoke up in a very flustered tone.
â...â â...â âCan we fuck?â âYou ruined it, Keigo. You ruined it.â

@gizaart you started this. @the-bitchking-of-angmar thanks for the recs.
"Have you done this before, Kurosaki?" Grimmjow asked, his big body hovering over Ichigo and trapping him against the bed. Ichigo frowned, his face felt burning, his whole-body pulsing with nerves. This was bad. They shouldn't be doing this, after all he was still a shinigami and Grimmjow a hollow. They shouldn't get involved in this kind of way...or in any kind of way. "That's none of your business?" He snapped way too defensive to even his own ears. It made Grimmjow smile. The crazy smile that showed too many teeth. He lowered his face even closer to Ichigo making him even more tense and uncomfortable. He was already straddling Ichigo's body on hands and knees, did he really need to get any closer? "So that's a no." The espada concluded amused. Ichigo wanted to punch him. Hard. Right in his knowing smirking face. Of course he had never touched himself. There had been wars, and rescue missions and then even more wars. He knew it was normal for teenagers to do this kind of thing, but he had never had the time nor the privacy. Dear god, Rukia had been living in his closet until a week ago.
The way Grimmjow was looking at him however was making it seem like a sacrilege, as if he was missing something fundamental. He pushed himself a bit up the bed, trying to get away from the looming Espada and the weird feeling of betrayal he was having. Grimmjow however only followed him right up not letting him escape even an inch from under him. He had found him right as Ichigo was about to go to sleep and the weird conversation had begun. It was ridiculous. He turned to snap at him once more so he would leave him alone, but the other spoke first. "Do it." Grimmjow said, his eyes tracking Ichigo with way too much intensity for just a joke. "Jerk yourself." "What?!" Ichigo said, his face again burning even hotter. "Of course not!" "I will teach you." Grimmjow said as it that explained everything. "I don't need any teaching!" He snarled. This was getting out of control. Grimmjow however didn't let go, he just leaned down even more into his personal space, his body hovering over his as Ichigo laid down even further into the mattress. He was all muscle and heat and raw power. A tingling sensation spread over Ichigo's body, his heart rate increased in his own ears. Fuck. He looked away mortified. Why this happened to him? "Don't you?" Grimmjow again taunted. "And what does a virgin know?" Ichigo bit his lip. This was a bad idea, a very very bad idea. He should punch the asshole unconscious and return to bed. "C'mon, Ichigo. Do it, Ichigo." The other repeated, his voice growing softer, almost a rumble. Ichigo's trembling hands lowered to his own pants. He was wearing nothing fancy, just a pair of pyjama pants and an old shit, but suddenly it seemed as if he was naked under Grimmjow's sharp gaze. Blood pounded on his ears, his face flaming as he slipped a hand into his pants and gripped his cock. He closed his eyes, not daring look at Grimmjow like this. "Good." the other purred against his mouth however still with that soft tone. "Now move it up and down, Ichigo, you know how. Yeah. Not that fast. Savour it." Ichigo trembled under the instructions. He knew in general how this was supposed to be done, but Grimmjow was right, he had never ever attempted it or even wondered about it. His mind had always been elsewhere to indulge in this kind of fantasy. He stroked himself. Slow like Grimmjow had said. His fingers gripping loosely around his hot dick and moving in an even rhythm that tented his pants. Up to the round tip, and down to his navel. Again and again. The tingling increased all over his body, his stomach muscles tensed, and he spread his legs a bit apart under Grimmjow so he could have a bit more space. "L-like this?" He said mortified. "Yeah." Grimmjow hovered over him, his elbows beside Ichigo's head and his knees bracketing his own. His weight moved over the bed for a second, changing position as if he wanted to see this better. But he never touched him.
Ichigo could just feel his breath on his neck -calm compared to Ichigo's own-, or the heat his body pulled off above him. It kept distracting him and making the tingling worse, and his skin clammy.
"How does it feel, Ichigo? Any good?" Grimmjow whispered against his neck.
"I...I don't know." he answered truthfully. The tingling was increasing, but he didn't know if that was what he was supposed to feel. "It just feels weird."
He moved on the bed, pulling his head back on the bed, and showing his neck to Grimmjow in an unconscious move.
Grimmjow snarled harsh and loudly. Ichigo flinched and opened his eyes surprised. His dick twitched and hardened in his hand suddenly. He swallowed. Oh dear.
"Harder." Grimmjow said between clenched teeth. "Grip yourself harder. And move faster."
He doubted. "But you saidâŚ"
"I know what I said, now do it!"
Ichigo frowned at the tone but obeyed. He closed his fist more firmly around himself, and then he moved it faster, pumping himself quickly. And as if summoned by magic pleasure surged all over him. He bit his lip again to contain his sudden gasps as his whole body tensed. His hips begun to move on their own, trusting shyly up into his own fist despite his best effort to keep still.
This was weird, it felt different than before, more intense and good, something begun building in his lower back, the tension increasing. He looked at himself, at his own hand touching himself under Grimmjow's gaze, at the obscene moves and his own sound and almost moaned.
"Yeah, that's it Kurosaki, hard and fast, just as I know you will love." Grimmjow sneered against his mouth, making him feel even dirtier. "Keep on, trust your instincts, you are doing so well."
Something wet dripped from the tip of his cock, helping the whole process, making his moves slicker and easier. Maybe this was an orgasm. Following Grimmjow's words he gripped himself harder, almost painfully, as he desperately wanted and kept going. He moaned this time. Closing his eyes and finally pulling his cock out of his restricting pants to make this easier.
Grimmjow again growled.
He opened his eyes and found a vibrant blue staring right at what he was doing. This was so dirty. So wrong. Yet he couldn't even feel embarrassed this time as he kept on pumping himself, he felt...there was too much...something was coming, but he didn't know if it was what he wanted, it kept on building and building in his belly, and he didn't know what to do.
"GrimmjowâŚ" he whispered, panicking.
"Use your other hand too." the other instructed, as if reading his mind.
Ichigo's body moved on its own. He whimpered as his other hand joined the first making the friction increase to perfection, the tightness, the pace, this felt so fucking good. How had he missed this? His body arched against the mattress, almost pleading under Grimmjow, and he sobbed trying to contain it all, trying to understand all that pleasure.
"Fuck god, Kurosaki, if you are like this just with..." the other cursed above him, his eyes kept roaming over him with something dangerous in them something that made his cock twitch even more.
"Please," he called again, needing a moment, needing to stop, but not daring pull his hands away should this end. "justâŚ"
"Yes?" Grimmjow said again, moving until he hovered over his exposed face. Still not touching him in the least. Why wasn't he touching him? "What does your body want, Kurosaki? How does it feel?" "It...it feels good." he said. "Are you enjoying touching yourself?" "Yes." A smirk. "How much?" "A lot." he confessed shamelessly, thrashing on the bed a little. "I love it. Just, please...something is...I don't..." Grimmjow chuckled mockingly, lowering his face to his neck. His breath hovered so close to his heated skin it was causing him chills. "Reaching an orgasm so fast?" "No, I.." "It's okay, you have done pretty well," Grimmjow grumbled. "Now let go, and come for me, Ichigo." And he bit him.
Hard and deep, drawing blood from his neck. Ichigo saw white. The pleasure and pain mixing into something cataclysmic. The tension that had been mounting snapped, and he felt something wet paint his hands once and then again. His toes curled on the sheets, his breath stopped in his throat.
He felt into the purest pleasure.
When he breathed again his body felt numb and lax. More relaxed than it had been in years. than it had ever been. He turned to look at Grimmjow feeling groggy, still confused.
"You bit me." He accused, and he probably should attend to the wound by its throbbing pain.
Grimmjow smiled. Smug. His eyes falling to that would for a second and seeming satisfied. Asshole. He was still hovering over him. Not having moved an inch since the beginning. As if he enjoyed crowding Ichigo's personal space, and staying there.
But after what had happened Ichigo just couldn't complain about proper social distance. Dear god, he had jerked off in front of Grimmjow. With his help.
"How was your first jerk off?" The Espada said, still smirking, digging deeper on the injury.
Ichigo wanted to punch him again mortified. He wanted to run away and hide from this man for a while. blackmail material, this was just blackmail material and it was all his fault.
Instead he just stared Grimmjow right in the eyes, and with a bored face, he rose his dirty hand and wiped himself clean on Grimmjow's face, over his mask and even on his hair. Served him right.
The other grew dead still above him, then rose a sarcastic eyebrow. "Kinky."
Ichigo turned scarlet. He should have punched him. Of course, he was a pervert. However, before he could do anything Grimmjow just lowered his head and kissed him.
And Ichigo had another mental breakdown just like that.
Grimmjow was kissing him. The sexta espada and one of his stronger enemies was kissing him after he had jerked off in front of him.
Holy shit!
Dumbfounded he tried to kiss back, pressing his lips against Grimmjow firmly, but before he could try much more, Grimmjow rose again with a frown.
"You haven't kissed much either, have you?"
Ichigo just stared at him speechless. And hot, and hella confused. He frowned out of spite. "Shut up."
Grimmjow smirked and lowering his head once more he nuzzled his nose and check with his own in a fond gesture. Ichigo again short circuited. Fond? Grimmjow? What was happening today?
"I wonder what else I could teach you today?" Grimmjow said against his mouth.

The First Move, Chapter 4
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
AO3
She woke up groggy, a mildly thumping headache relentlessly bothering her. Stirring, she slowly unwraps the blankets around her, stopping to wonder in amusement at how carefully they were spread around her. All her memories from yesterday night remained fuzzy, but she still remembered very distinctly just how comfortably and snugly she slept under the blankets. Seita mustâve really taken the time to wrap them around her, probably following Hinowaâs guidance. Tsukuyo finally sits upright, hands on the futon for support, looking around. Her roomâs orientation definitely looked⌠different than usual. She definitely didnât remember keeping a vast stack of what looked like manga volumes propped up in her roomâs corner⌠maybe sheâs seeing things. Hangovers can still be a pain, mentally and physically. Nothing a morning bath and a good smoke after breakfast canât patch up quick, she murmurs to herself.
I know todayâs the start of the weekend, but I just canât skip work. God, Hinowa...
Parched, she searched around the futon sides, and to her amazement found a flask of water and a small bag with aspirin kept beside the futon. She reaches out immediately, gulping down the water with gusto, and taking an aspirin soon after. Feeling much better, she takes the time to look around. Tsukuyo finally realises the room itself was dimly lit, kept as to make sure to reduce any sunlight coming into the room as much as possible. She shakes her head, finally standing up and slowly walking towards the door. Opening it, she covers her eyes from the light flooding in, walking into what looked like the living room, with two sofas facing each other and a table between, and a desk close to the window. Dazed, she looked around, wondering where the bathroom could be.
âTake a right and go straight, the bathroom's gonna be to your left, close to the entrance doors.â A familiar deep voice spoke. âI got you a toothbrush, so no need to worry about borrowing mine.â
âAh, thank you, Gintoki,â she mutters back, heading into the direction pointed out slowly. Realization hits like a bucket of cold water seconds later, and she turns around sharply, facing the man who had spoken. âGINTOKI?!?â
There was no mistaking the fish eyed, dead faced samurai. Leaning on the wall, Gintoki looked back, smirking.
âMorning, shinigami-tayuu.â
-
A good twenty minutes later, after Tsukuyo had gotten over the initial shock and freshened up, they sat close together at the table, with Gintoki having finished laying out the breakfast.
âFried eggs and rice? Quite fancy of you,â she remarks, digging in.
âBe glad itâs me making the breakfast, not Kagura. Sheâd just put raw eggs on top and call it a dayâŚâ
âIâm thinking you mustâve egged her onto that oneâŚâ
âClever pun, but no,â Gintoki shrugs, waving her off as she giggles. âI kid you not, Kaguraâs had wack tastes since the beginning. Comes from having a dunderhead of a brother and an even bigger moron of a father.â
âYou really donât mince words, do you?â
âReally though, they deserve it.â
âSounds like youâve had personal experience dealing with it.â
âUgh, trust me. You donât wanna know.â
âWhen was the last time youâve seen them?â Tsukuyo inquires, curious.
Gintoki takes a small bite of the rice, chewing thoroughly before settling in. âItâs been a while. I know the brother comes by occasionally. He says it's to check on his sister, but we all damn well know that he comes here for the battles.â
âWith Okita-kun?â
âNah,â Gintoki shakes his head. âThe Chief Of Police. Seems like heâs taken a liking to her. Says sheâs far more aggressive and relentless than Sofa-kun. Now, Iâm thinking which way does he mean...â, a kunai hits him squarely in the forehead, startling him. âOh, câmon honeyâŚâ
âYou know why you had that one coming,â she chuckles, and Gintoki leans on the tabletop, groaning out loud. âSay, where are the kids? Didnât see Kagura aroundâŚâ
âWell,â Gintoki sighs, straightening up. âItâs not one in the afternoon yet, so sheâs definitely still sleeping. I told Shinpachi to take the day off, cause we finished all the requests due over the week, and we donât accept any requests during the weekend.â
âYorozuyaâs that busy these days, huh,â Tsukuyo marvels, and Gintoki nods in agreement.
âSurprised me too. Since the return, and me settling what was left of the Naraku, the Yorozuya really took off as a local brand name. Beats me howâŚâ
Tsukuyo smiled. The man really was blind to the impact of his own work on the Kabuki district. To say that the residents of Kabuki loved Sakata Gintoki is an understatement. Gintoki is, and always was, a local celebrity. Despite the manâs temperament, Gintoki somehow always had this innate ability to get the people around him to notice, to want to get to know him better. He was someonesâ drinking buddy, anotherâs rival, someoneâs friend to turn to. Gintoki is always there to lend a helping hand, even if he offers in that classic tsundere technique of his.
âAnyway, honey,â Gintoki starts, snapping Tsukuyo out of her thoughts. âI gotta say, I usually donât have mornings this calm and, dare I say, fun. Usually my mornings are pretty loud, thanks to the kids...â
Tsukuyo snorts. âYou calling high noon âmorningâ is a new one. Although, I must admit, I quite enjoyed the brunch. We should probably do this more, darling.â She smirks, noticing him looking away blushing.
âYeah, yeah,â he murmurs, then suddenly perks up. âGranted, we were only able to enjoy this cause Iâm still alive from yesterdayâŚâ he shudders, alarming Tsukuyo.
âI couldnât have been that bad yesterday, rightâŚâ she asks shakily, as Gintoki flashes her a deadpan, sarcastic look.
âYou wish, honey.â Quickly noticing the panicked expression on her face, he sighed, waving. âI was exaggerating, honey. It wasnât that bad, but it was⌠quite eventful. You wouldnât let me go and kept clinging onto me whilst draining Baba's expensive sake to the last drop. Definitely scared the old hag out of her wits for once. I somehow calmed you down and took you upstairs, and put you to bed, where you slept like a child. Explained everything to Baba later, she understood.â
âIâll go down and apologize immediately,â Tsukuyo exclaims, getting up, but Gintoki caught her hand, motioning her to sit down.
âCalm down, Tsukki, itâs alright,â he soothes, gently caressing her hand, and Tsukuyo looks at him in wonder with disbelieving eyes. Howâd the silver buffoon turn so mature all of a sudden? âTold ya I explained it to her. If you really want to-â
âOf course I do!â âThen weâll go down there together. How about that,â he replies back, smiling, and Tsukuyoâs heart glows even more. What has this man done to her? Better yet, what had happened to him? âEat up, Iâll take care of the dishes, gotta wake Kagura up for breakf-uh, I mean, brunch.â He winks at her, getting up and grabbing the dishes. Tsukuyo pouts.
âYou know, I still have to get to work,â she exclaims, digging into her meal.
âWay ahead of you, already called up Hinowa, sheâs got you covered,â he shouts back, smiling at the groan that followed.
Learn to take a break, you damn workaholicâŚ
-
Tsukki, you work too damn hardâŚ
That was the only thing on Gintokiâs mind as he saw her come back from making some small rounds around town. Of course, she still came all the way back, despite his and Hinowaâs insistence. Tsukuyo disregarded their suggestions, stressing that the rookies in the Hyakka still needed her guidance. True to her word, she had hastily finished brunch, took Gintoki with her downstairs to Otoseâs bar, where she apologized profusely for about half an hour, and then finally dragged Gintoki to Yoshiwara. Hinowa was surprised to see the both of them at the doorstep, and Gintoki kept pouting until she finally promised that sheâd be back in an hour to enjoy the rest of the day. And again, always being true to her word, she showed up back in an hour, right on time. Even if Gintoki sometimes felt that the drunk terminator was being way too sincere for the new recruits, he understood her plight all too well, along with the burden she was carrying.
âWas she really always like this, Hinowa,â he groans aloud, as he sits close to the porch, peeling off orange skins, waiting on Tsukuyo to finish her bath. Hinowa remained close by, merely smiling at Gintokiâs pouting and nodding back. Gintoki sighs, leaning against the wall.
âHow was she like back then, Hinowa?â he asks, wondering aloud.
âMuch of the same, Gin-san, except much more serious, Iâd say. Dedicated to her work. Tirelessly working to ensure the safety of the courtesans and the citizens of Yoshiwara,â Hinowa sighs, a slight frown forming on her face, which Gintoki is quick to notice. Moments later, however, Hinowa speaks again.
âGin-san, Iâll be honest,â Hinowa starts. âSeeing Tsukuyo like this has really made me feel happier than Iâve ever felt. All this time, Tsukuyo had been hell bent on dedicating herself to the lifelong mission to protect Yoshiwara. Even with the liberation from Hosenâs rule, and the fiasco that followed after the return of Jiraiya, she had been going on and on, the same routine and the unyielding effort.â
âThere are times where Iâve genuinely wondered whether Tsukuyo would ever get to live her life. Thereâs only so much one can do once they throw themselves into their work. As someone who had been there by her side so long, Iâve worried so much about her. You see, Gin-san, all I ever wanted for her was to live happily.â
Hinowa looks at Gintoki, wearing a small sad smile. âI am glad that youâve become such an important part of her life now, Gin-san. Trust me when I say it means the world to her to get to spend time with you like this. Iâve never seen her so happy, so content with life. The Tsukuyo that I knew from so long ago would never have been able to dream of a time where sheâd get to spend time with me and Seita so long, and get to enjoy a serious, fulfilling relationship with the love of her life. Itâs beyond a courtesanâs wildest dreams, a delirious illusion at the most. And yet you broke through all of realityâs hurdles like it was nothing, and granted her something far greater than what dreams would have promised.â
Gintoki silently listens, taking in everything that Hinowa just said. Straightening up, he kneels in front of her, head bowed.
âI will do everything in my power to protect that happiness, Hinowa,â Gintoki solemnly states. âShe means the world to me, she truly does. I never expected to find my own happiness in this world for a long time, but being with her made me realise that maybe I did have a chance at finding that happiness. Even if it was all just to be by her side, I wouldâve happily obliged, but she allowed me to be a part of her world, and I will never take that for granted.â
âI will never take her for granted,â Gintoki utters, bowing down. He lifts his head up to see tears flowing down Hinowaâs cheeks.
âI know you wonât, Gin-san. I know you won't.â
-
After talking to Hinowa for some time more, and eating up some of the orange slices he had carefully peeled out, Gintoki heads for Tsukuyoâs room, wondering what was taking her so long. He didnât need to wonder for long. After knocking on her door for a while, he finally slides the door open carefully, just to see Tsukuyo lying down on the futon, deep in sleep. She jolts up quickly at the noise, despite his cautiousness.
âOh, GintokiâŚ,â she starts, slowly propping herself upright as Gintoki walks up to her. âSo sorry, felt like Iâd take a little nap before Iâd join you and Hinowa downstairs⌠seems like I dozed offâŚâ
Gintoki snorts, as he sits by her side. âFigured you would. Just in case, I got you a glass of water along with oranges. You better eat the orange slices, Gin-san worked too hard to ensure they were peeled to perfection, you know.â
âFor Godâs sake, Gintoki, theyâre just orange slices,â Tsukuyo laughs, as she reaches out for a piece, but Gintokiâs ahead of her already, grabbing a slice and bringing it close to her mouth.
âSay âaahâ, sleepyhead,â he teases. Tsukuyo canât help but giggle.
âFine, you win, Gintoki,â she replies, as accepts his helping hand. âFor some reason, Iâm feeling extra sleepy today. Your laziness is finally rubbing off on me, I see.â
âPoint one for Gin-san on the board,â Gintoki announces, and Tsukuyo responds by throwing a pillow. âWoah, no kunais?â he asks, and he's suddenly whisked close to her, as she plants a quick, passionate kiss on his cheek.
âNot today,â she states happily, grinning at the blushing samurai.
-
Work was tougher than usual today...
Tsukuyo made her way through the roads in the Kabuki district to Otoseâs bar. Sheâd just wrapped up Hyakka business for the week, and had planned to visit the silver-haired samurai once she was done. On the way, however, Tsukuyo feels uneasy. Her body was sweating profusely despite the cool evening weather, and her muscles seemed to ache even more than usual after the work. Normally, Tsukuyo would chalk it up to the usual overtime grind taking a toll on the body, but Tsukuyo knew perfectly well that today was just an ordinary day at the office, nothing more. There was no reason why sheâd feel this badâŚ
Deep in her thoughts, Tsukuyo notices the bar coming into view, and walks on. She had barely taken ten steps in the direction of the bar when sheâs suddenly hit with a disarming headache. Barely keeping sight as she bears the dizziness, she slowly trudges on, approaching the bar outskirts, where she notices the android maid with the shining green hair.
âTama⌠chanâŚâ Tsukuyo stutters, as she gives into the exhaustion, collapsing to the ground.

White String of Hate
Summary: In which Taehee, the resident clean freak, is driven to the brink of insanity.
***
It started when he found pieces of white string on his clothes.
At first, he thought nothing of it. He had just re-organized the closets in the house. Maybe some stray cobwebs had floated into the roomânothing his duster couldnât handle.
But then he started seeing them elsewhere. In his potted plants, the kitchen counter, the floor⌠And every time he mentioned it, his housemates merely shrugged it off and dismissed it as him being too much of a âclean freakâ. He knew he had a tendency to be more sensitive to these things, so he let it slide, and told himself he was just thinking too much... before wiping down the surfaces till they were back to their pristine, clean state.
Still, the white strings continued to appear. He couldnât even wear black shirts anymore without feeling irked to the bone. Even his trusty lint roller wasnât enough to keep them at bay. "Maybe it's a lint mutation!" Hansol suggested. That was a ridiculous suggestion, of course⌠but Taehee did buy a new roller. Still it proved to be of little use; the pesky little strings kept coming back like scheming parasites.
By the seventh day, Taehee was beginning to question his sanity. Maybe heâd just worked too many long hours. Maybe his eyes were just tired. Maybe all he needed was a long night of sleep.
For days, the strings plagued his sight, their appearances growing more and more ridiculous. One morning, he even found it on his toothbrush. However, just like before, his housemates responded to his questions with that same indifference.
But he couldnât get it out of his mind. The white strings consumed his every thought, and it was impossible to avoid them in the house when they seemed to have plagued every corner of his home.
There had to be a scientific explanation behind itâa sickness? But everyone was perfectly healthy. White hairs from stress-induced aging? But he was a goblin.... The others certainly didnât seem to have developed white hairs either. He got MC to check his head on multiple occasions too, and she had assured him that he wasnât growing any. He could only take her word for it.
What else could it be? Cobwebs? But cobwebs didnât form so quickly after being cleaned. And they wouldnât come in such huge numbers.
The question remained in the back of his mind as he struggled to come up with a reasonable answer, other than one involving him hallucinating. Because he wasnât. His housemates who werenât seeing these white strings were clearly going blind.
The last straw was when he was having his morning coffee. One of the rare times he could sit down in peace, take his time to savour the bittersweetness of his special brew. Needless to say it was one of his favourite times of the day.
Until he saw it. The thin white line of his nightmares now floating in the middle of what shouldâve been delightful blackness.
Despite the sting of the heat, his fingertips pressed into the ceramic mug in a last attempt to keep his composure. But it was too late. He had reached the end of his tether, and his brain was beginning to tatter.
âHey, clean freak,â Yoohaâs usually unwelcomed voice slashed through the muddled swirl of Taeheeâs angry thoughts. The latter looked up, finding the fox waving his open palm in front of him. âWhatâs with that face?â
âWhat?â Taehee rasped, brows furrowing in annoyance. He could already sense the stupid comment on his upturned lips.
âUsually, when you drink your coffee, you turn all pensiveâlike an old man,â Yooha shrugged. He took a casual sip of his wine. What lunatic even drank this early? âBut you looked really pissed just now.â
Taehee blew out a sharp huff. If this fox knew what was good for him, heâd stay away. Anger was coursing through his veins and Taehee had been wound up too tight; he was this close to snapping.
âOi. Kim Taehee. You okay? Why arenât youââ
âI canât...â Taehee mumbled through his gritted teeth.
ââdrinking your coffee?â
âI CANâT!â
Taeheeâs shout echoed in the empty living room, and for the first time Yooha actually looked a little scared of him. The foxâs speechlessness made an awkward silence settle between the two as Taehee mentally berated himself for losing control over his temper like that. He had to stay calm. Be calm. Calm...
âWoah⌠yeah youâre definitely not okay. Wanna talk about it?â
The sound of Yoohaâs voice ignited yet another spark of rage within him, and before he could do something else he would regret, Taehee grabbed his cup and emptied its tainted contents into the sink.
Yooha gaped at him expectantly, though a trace of awe and fear were still visible between his furrowed brows. He probably thought Taehee was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Oh, God...Taehee hoped he didnât go into one of his rambles praising his own wisdom guised as shoddy advice. Not now.
However, the goblin was saved from such torture by the soft pad of footsteps down the stairs.
âWhatâs going on? I heard yelling.â
MCâs voice drifted from the stairs, and soon she came into view, bed head still fresh and her eyes smaller than usual, groggy with sleep. Taeheeâs heart gave a small leap in response. As usual.
And apparently, it wasnât alone.
The fox perked up, sitting straighter in his seat and his previously lazy demeanor turning almost puppy-like.
âAh, MC,â he said, a grin now stretching across his lips. Taehee barely held back his own smile at her presence which now whittled away at his annoyance. âGood morning! Did you dream of me?â
Taehee rolled his eyes at Yoohaâs unnecessary wink. MC was equally unamused, tired as she was, though she did spare him a chuckle.
âYeah, yeah, sure did,â she replied with a brief smile, before her attention turned to Taehee. It was strange how easily she could calm him down. Just one look from her and he felt his breathing start to slow down, and the angry, scrambled thoughts in his mind began to scatter. All that was left was a pounding in his chest as he met her concerned stare.
âIs⌠everything okay?â
With practised ease, the corners of his lips lifted into a smile, erasing any and all traces of irritation from his face. âYes, everythingâs fine.â
âFine?â Yooha snorted. âThis guy nearly had an aneurysm.â
âWhat?â MC said, her gaze once again snapping towards the goblin. His cheeks heated under the sudden scrutiny.
Feeling slightly embarrassed now at the reason behind his outburst, he waved his hand dismissively. âNo, no,â he stammered. âIâm really fine. Iâm just⌠feeling off this morning.â
The girl seemed unconvinced. Her eyes drifted to the dumped coffee in the sink, and Taehee could practically see the calculations behind her forehead.
Abruptly, MC turned to the fox. âYooha,â she began, startling when he suddenly transported behind her back.
Taeheeâs skin tingled when the man slid his arms around her waist.
âYes, MC?â Yooha hummed.
She promptly swatted his hands away. Taehee smirked in amusement...or maybe triumph.
âDid you make him mad again?â she went on.
Yooha stumbled back in offense, hand over his chest. DramaticâŚ
âWhat? No!â
MC crossed her arms, shifting her weight to one hip. Her lips pressed into a fine line as she flayed him with a hard, interrogative stare.
Yooha let out a sharp sigh. âI didnât! Really!â
He glanced at Taehee, no doubt to clear his name. The latter pursed his lips. Should he clear the air? Technically, Yooha did add to his frustration. His presence alone could sour Taeheeâs mood considerably any day, and especially today.
In the span of silence he took to think, MC seemed to interpret it as a confirmation of Yoohaâs guilt, and his sentence was passed immediately.
âGo on, apologise to Taehee. You two should make up and at least try to get along.â
âBut I didnât do anything!â Yooha argued, genuinely looking quite upset now. Even MC seemed to be surprised by his reaction.
âMaster, you donât believe me? Thatâs hurtfulâŚâ
And then it happened.
Like a snake, his nine tails unfurled behind him one after another, practically glowing with the blindingly white sheen of his fur.
White. Fur.
The answer had been right in front of him the whole time, the source of his nightmares for the past week right under his nose and Taehee hadnât so much as noticed.
He shouldâve known. Ever since that stupid fox materialized from that scroll, nothing and no one else in this house rattled him as much as he could.
And at this very moment, he was downright pissed.
He hadnât even realized his outstretched hand. His tense fingers were bent into a claw, ready to strangle one of the nine hydras sweeping through the air, further tainting the cleanliness of the house with those loose strands of white.
Rage coursed through his veins, and somehow, his magic followed suit with blue fire flaring into the center of his palm. Taehee hadnât meant to move his hand any closer to the infuriating white fur. But his fight-or-flight instincts had kicked in, and little by little, those flames licked perilously close to the thin strands untilâŚ
âOW!!â
Taehee recoiled as the sharp sound pierced his ears, his anger subsiding enough for him to return to the present moment. He saw MCâs reaction first. Her eyes were wide in shock, and her mouth was frozen in a perfect âo.â
When his gaze fell on the fox again, the tails had vanished. Yooha was storming over to him, anger etched on his usually laidback face. He looked feral.
âDid you seriously just try to burn my tails? Kim Taehee!â
Taehee knew he should apologise. Clearly he was in the wrong here. But his mouth began flapping, retorts bubbling in his throat, unable to restrain himself in front of the fox. Especially when he was the cause of this whole mess in the first place.
âWould you prefer for me to shave them clean instead? Since youâre shedding anyway.â
âYou-â Yoohaâs voice cut off, confusion flickering in his eyes. âWhat are you talking about? Me? Shedding? What do you think I am? A common dog?â
âNo,â Taehee returned with more composure than he felt. âDogs are more likeable.â
âWhy, youââ Yooha began, though he stopped himself again. His fist was balled tightly at his side, but he seemed to have enough restraint to keep it there. A tense breath wisped from his lips. âLook, youâre having a bad morning. I get it. But just because MC likes my tails more than you doesnât mean you can abuse your magic fire trick.â
Several unintelligible syllables spluttered from Taeheeâs mouth.
Words...he needed to use words.
âMC doesnâtâ Fire trick? You donâtââ
No, no⌠sentences. He needed sentences. But his brain was too muddled with his emotions, and that stupid simper on the foxâs face was only making it worse.
âOr maybe⌠If you wanted to touch my tail so badly, you couldâve asked.â
Taehee was about to open his mouth again when MCâs face appeared in his line of sight, blocking the fox from his view.
âEnough, both of you. Itâs too early in the morning for this, letâs just stop here, okay?â
âHey, I wasnât the one who resorted to violence,â Yooha added stubbornly, shooting a glare in Taeheeâs direction.
âIt wouldnât have gotten to this point if you wouldâve cleaned after yourself,â he spat. To emphasize his point, he swiped his hand over his sleeve, sending a few tufts of white fluttering into the air.
Yooha squinted at the hair, his features once again contorting in offense. âYou think that hair is mine? Is that what this is all about?â
âThink?â Taehee scoffed. âI think we all saw how much hair fell off that fur trap of yours.â
MC groaned and flopped back onto an empty chair. âGuys, can we notââ
âThis,â Yooha interrupted, holding up his pinched fingers where Taehee assumed he had caught one of his hairs, âis not mine. Look how coarse and short this is! My fur is softer and longer than thisâand whiter!â
âYou canât compare anything when you can barely see that hair between your fingers.â
âMaybe you canât, since itâs obvious thereâs something wrong with your eyes.â
âOh? Letâs pluck out some of your hair and check then.â
âWhat? You think this is some kind of game? My tails arenât for you to screw around with!â
âYou always take them out when MC is here anyway. Like a dog wagging its tail for its master.â
âYou- Did you just call me a dog again?â
âSo on top of excessive shedding you canât hear right either? Maybe itâs time to take you to a vet.â
âI told you that fur isnât mine! Iâm not shedding!â
Taehee slammed his palm onto the counter. His adrenaline was waning, and he hadnât even had a sip of coffee. He was getting more exasperated by the second...
âThen what?â he sighed. âDo we suddenly have a cat in the house or something?â
A soft meow interrupted the growing tension between them, and both men turned to MC who was still innocently sitting at the table.
Yooha clicked his tongue, a smile unbefitting of the situation rapidly overtaking his previous scowl. âThat was cute, MC, but this is serious,â he said. His palm rested against her mussed hair. âMy honor is at stake here.â
âIt wasnâtââ
âYeah MC, I know youâre trying to help us but we need to work this out,â Taehee added, slapping Yoohaâs hand away from her head.
She huffed and pushed both of their hands away from her face. âGuys, I said it wasnât me.â
âYeah.â A tuft of red hair appeared from the corner of Taeheeâs eye. Biho shuffled meekly into the kitchen, and three pairs of eyes followed him curiously. âIt was me.â
Yoohaâs gaze shifted from Biho to Taehee, then back to the younger goblin. âYou...meowed?â
The redheadâs chest heaved in a deep, forlorn sigh. He pressed a hand over his heart and shook his head. âI am deeply sorry for my actions. I didnât intend for it to go this far.â
âWhat are you talking about BihoâŚâ Taeheeâs voice trailed off when they heard another meow. The younger goblinâs mouth was closed however, and the sound seemed to be coming from his head.
Was this a new power? Taehee had never seen anything like it. Hansol never mentioned anything about Bihoâs new ability either.
However, the explanation for the strange occurrence soon made itself known⌠with its tiny, white ears peeking over Bihoâs bright red hair.
Another one of his doleful sighs filled the stunned silence in the room. âI woke up and heard you guys arguing about Yooha shedding.â
âLike I said, Iâm notââ Taehee slapped his hand over Yoohaâs mouth to shut him up, wanting to listen to Biho instead of that annoying foxâs voice.
âI think it was actually this kittenâs fur⌠Sorry Taehee, I know itâs been bothering you this whole week.â
Taehee deflated half in relief and half in exhaustion. âWhy didnât you just say something earlier?â
âI was going to, but then you looked very angry about the hair, and I thought you would ask me to get rid of it.â Biho picked up the kitten from his hair and carefully placed it in his arms, cradling it like it was a baby. In return, the kitten nuzzled its face against his hoodie.
âWhere did you even get it from? Did you buy it?â Yooha asked, defensively raising a hand up in case Taehee tried to physically shut him up again.
âI found it by the road on the way home,â he replied. âIt was in a box all alone and it was raining. It looked like it had been abandoned, and I couldnât leave it there like that.â His eyes drooped, his gaze turning sad as he gently stroked the kitten in his arms.
MC cooed at the explanation, joining the coddling of the little animal.
Taehee admitted it was touching...and understandable knowing Bihoâs story. Still, the fur sticking to the younger goblinâs sleeve was giving him a fresh surge of anxiety.
âBiho,â he began, making sure his voice was gentle lest he upset him with what he had to say. âWhat you did was good. You probably saved its life, butâŚâ
âWe canât keep it,â Yooha interrupted bluntly, earning him a slap upside the head. And it wasnât even from Taehee this time.
âHey,â MC hissed, casting a worried glance towards Biho.
Thankfully, the redhead seemed to expect this. Slowly, he nodded, though he cradled the kitten a little closer to his chest. âI know,â he said. âBut can we keep him until we find him a home?â
Taehee opened his mouth to protest but MC held her hand up, no doubt guessing his answer.
âOf course we can,â she said. âWe can post it online. Iâm sure we can find someone.â
Biho shot her a grateful smile. âCould you help me with that?â
âSure!â MC jumped up with a grin, before pausing. âGive me ten minutes. I should brush my teeth and wash my face first.â
âOkay, Iâll be in my room.â
Then the both of them left, although MC made sure to elbow Taehee in the side. He didnât have to look at her to know what she wanted him to do next.
An awkward silence settled once more, now that it was just him and Yooha left in the kitchen. Briefly, he made eye contact with the fox, and Taehee fought the urge to roll his eyes. He doubted they would be able to make up even after this.
âWell? Donât you have something to say?â Yooha asked with his chin up. Taehee wanted to wipe off that arrogant smirk from his face. But a wrong was a wrong, and he knew what he should do as the more mature one between them.
âFine. The hair wasnât yours, Iâm sorry.â
âGood.â
âBut it doesnât change the fact that you shed. A lot.â
Silence. Presumably, Yooha was attempting to choose his words carefully, lest another argument broke out. He sighed heavily before speaking again. âIs this your idea of an apology?â
âI did apologise. But I also stated a fact. I clean your closet, you know. Your hairballs are disgusting.â
âIâll have you know that my tails are amongst the most beautifulââ
âJust make sure you clean up after yourself from now on,â Taehee said, turning to leave. âOr I will personally shave you myself.â
âYou wouldnât dare,â Yooha narrowed his eyes. âA mere goblin like you? Hah.â
âHm. But a fox like you canât disobey its master, right? All I need is to get MC to agree to it.â
Taehee felt a sense of satisfaction when he saw Yoohaâs confident smile falter. Having said his piece, he turned and left for his room, a triumphant smirk playing on his lips as he heard his name echo angrily behind him.

<< masterlist
ââââ- <<prev | next >> ââââ-ÂŤÂŤ Â
The road fell away in front of you as you scrolled mindlessly on your phone. After a round of brusque insistence on his behalf, you'd finally given in and let Seokjin convince you into relinquishing the driver's seat after a couple of hours on the road. You made sure to grumble in protest before plonking yourself down on the passenger side, him brushing you off easily.
Youâd put the memory of the thoughtless kiss to the back of your mind, hoping that heâd forgotten just as swiftly. You were here to enjoy your trip, not to overthink about what had happened in the past. Thinking back on the past 24 hours, you sighed in defeat.
Letâs hope we donât crash.Â
*hours earlier*
You both arrived at the meeting place after countless attempts of stuttering out the most confusing directions to the driver. At this point, you almost wanted to pass out and it was still relatively early.Â
Managing to greet all your aunties, uncles, and cousins as a couple of lovebirds came effortlessly enough. It was nothing but a way of life for you and Seokjin these days.
â(Y/n) youâve grown so much. Oh, Iâm going to cry!â
You tried to calm one of your more eccentric aunties while your husband stood awkwardly to the side, looking around at the gathered group of people in contemplation. Dressed casually again, he hadnât been prepared for the sheer number of everyday individuals preparing to depart. All beside a line of large black and white motorhomes which were currently fuelling up under the shade of nearby woodland.
Once the two of you finally managed to break away from the introductions and reunions, you let out a sigh of relief. You were finally alone, sinking into the refurbished leather seats of the vehicle to regain your composure. Dealing with a horde of chipper relatives can deplete oneâs energy like a starved leech if it continues for too long.
âSorry, theyâre just excited.â You laughed airily, leaning forward to switch on the air conditioner. The temperature outside was already heating up from the unforgiving sun, and you were going to positively drown in sweat if you didnât get some cold air blasting on you lickety-split.
âTheyâreâŚlively. But itâs okay, I signed up for it anyway,â the tall man replied with a smirk of his own. He seemed amused at how quickly you'd been swamped, but he also seemed to notice how happy you were at receiving all the attention.
âThe first one will probably leave soon. Iâll start driving and then if you want you can switch with me later. We wonât make it to the first stop today, but itâll most likely end up being late tomorrow morning,â you explained while readying yourself at the wheel of the vehicle. Seokjin hummed in acknowledgement and craned his long neck backwards to ensure your bags were all safe a secure.
You admired how comfortable he looked in his simple travelling clothes. How he could pull off such a simple but effective appearance that highlighted his handsome features, such as his dusky brown eyes and midnight coloured locks of hair - hair that had grown out and gotten nicely longer, you might add - was a complete and utter mystery to you.
âBy the way, we donât have to put on as much of an act here with these people,â you began on a weirdly sombre note, trying not to look over at him for a reaction. âThe whole relationship thing doesnât matter to them as much. They wonât get suspicious or question us, so donât stress too much about going all out, alright?â
âOkay,â came his simple reply, void of much emotion.
You didnât know why you expected anything else, but a small part of you longed to continue pretending. You wanted to be with him, wanted to feel his hands on your skin again. It was almost too much for you to handle. You couldnât imagine anyone else ever feeling so conflicted about their own lover, not to mention having hands on your arms of all places.
Absurd. Right?
Suddenly, the motorhome in front of you began rolling forward and you pressed down slowly on the gas pedal to follow suit. Seokjin twisted his broad shoulders back around to face the front, blinking harshly as the sunlight shone through the windscreen and hit him forcefully in the face.
Your lips quirked up in an amused smirk. What a goof.
*present*
Your eyes drooped with a heavy sleepiness as Seokjin finally pulled the truck into the site where everyone would be camping. The drive had been quite lengthy, but youâd been swapping every few hours or so until youâd become too tired to go on. Being the husband-material he was, Seokjin gladly took the burden of getting you both through the rest of the way.
âHey wake up, everyoneâs getting out for some reason.â
You blinked the sleep out of your eyes and groaned, feeling slightly more energised from your nap but still groggy. You slowly made your way down the steps and outside into the humid air, nostalgic memories finally flowing into your mind as you watched the members of your family collecting around several bright vans.
âOh, this is the food truck stop,â you rasped out in a matter-of-factly tone, causing Seokjin to eye you in confusion. It was luckily still light enough to catch his dumbfounded expression.
âThere are food trucks in this parkland area, so we can go and buy some hot-dogs or something if we want. Itâs always the first dinner stop,â you tried to explain mid-yawn. The sky was blending into darkness as the sun began to set below the horizon.
âYouâre so sleepy.â Seokjin snorted lowly, almost chuckling when you looked up at him through glaring watery eyes from the yawn, as if it werenât obvious enough. He looked fairly relaxed, and you gently smiled at the sight of his beautiful eyes lighting up with wonder at the view of the campsite around him.
It was enthralling, how fascinated he was with absolutely everything. Even though the red cap sitting atop his black mop of hair cast a shadow over his face, it was still easy to spot just how eager he was to just enjoy life normally for once. To be a commoner and forget about all the pressed suits he had hanging up at home, the bucket loads of cash sitting in his bank account, the disapproving parents.
Now was the time he could finally taste the sweetness of freedom.
All of a sudden, the tall man left a tap on your shoulder and leaned in close once you faced him curiously. The stuffy fog of sleep was immediately chased away from your whirring mind, and you widened your eyes in shock when one of his hands pulled you closer, indicating what he wanted you to do with a simple touch.
Is he initiating a kiss, for once?
You reacted almost instantly to his subtle body language, everything coming naturally as you stepped in closer and raised your lips to peck his plump ones sweetly. Your whole body was buzzing with eruptions of joy, heat and surprise at the impulse; hands curling into his shirt so that you could feel the warmth of his body even moreâŚfor just a little bit longer. It was so rare for him to be bold like this.
For a single second, you forgot what your relationship truly was and felt - for the first time - what it was like to pour your heart into loving another person.
An older man cackled with his friend as they shared a beer together. âMy, you young ones are just so passionate, arenât you?â You swept some hair back behind your ear and ducked your head to hide the embarrassed flush. Or maybe you were trying to hide the stupid smile sitting on your face.
âIâll get some food for us,â Seokjin said after another few moments of observing the place. You inwardly gaped at him as he moved towards one of the colourful food trucks, wondering if he was going to actually cover you for food.
What's gotten into him? Maybe itâs just because heâs used to putting on a performance, and that itâs such a different setting on top of that.
You shook your head to rid yourself of the fluffy feelings and jogged up to where your dark-haired partner was lining up for hot dogs.
âDo you want me to give you some cash for mine?â you asked hesitantly, gaze imploring for his attention again.
âNo, go find a table to sit at,â he murmured, flicking his head upwards to point out a group of empty wooden tables nearby. You were pleasantly surprised at his motive and couldnât help the way your jaw went slightly slack, simply stunned. Eventually, you complied and headed over towards the seats.
He'd looked so refreshed and so pleased with himself. Even with the weariness brought on by the long and tiresome journey.
The whole area was illuminated by a few atmospheric park lamps, but everyone knew that it would soon grow too dark to stay outside for much longer. Plus, youâd all need a good nightâs sleep if you were going to make it to your stop tomorrow. You almost groaned again at the thought of driving so early.
âHere, I forgot to ask what drink you wanted, but you usually like bubbly stuff so I got a soft drink.â
Bit different from champagne, you surmised, but it was cute that he thought like that.
Seokjin placed a can next to where your arm was resting on the tabletop. Then, he held out a delicious looking hot dog sprinkled with fried onion rings, and you couldnât stop the way your stomach grumbled and growled at the sight.
âIâm a starved woman, thank you.ââ
He sat down and glanced around at the groups of people chatting, the strange but somehow never misplaced glimmer of interest never faltering in his eyes. On the other hand, you essentially inhaled the meal in front of you despite how weird it felt to ingest such cheap and fattening food. After months of high-class dining, it was more peculiar than one would think. Even something as unfamiliar as eating such a messy meal didnât bother either one of you after the day you'd had.
âSo, you donât go around and talk to them much?â Seokjin questioned in a light tone of voice, picking his long and slightly curved fingers clean of any crumbs. The man was picturesque in how calm and concentrated he was. You decided that you liked that look of determination on him, even if it was for something so insignificant.
âI do, but Iâm not really in the mood right now.â You sighed, resting your face into your palm so that you could ease the tension in your sore neck. You cast your gaze downwards and hoped that you wouldnât regret your next words.
âPlus, I kind of want to spend most of my time on this trip with you.â
His eyes stared into yours from across the table, unblinking as he was thrown into one of his strange thoughtful silences.
You rushed to elaborate in a panic. âI-I ⌠well Iâve done this trip many times and I thought itâd be nice to get to know each other a little bit more. We havenât really asked many questions during the past few months, and I already feel so peaceful travelling together that I thought itâd be cool to just spend some time away from all the parties and shit to really relax and talk, you know?â
Cool? Did I really just say it'd be cool if we talked? Fuck you (Y/n).
You took a rickety breath and clasped both your hands together to try and hide your flustered appearance. With pursed lips and a slight cringe from the ranting accompanying your nerves, you searched his gaze with your own to try your best at reading him.
âYeah, I know. It would make everything easier if we knew more about each other, so I donât have to make up more lies,â he eventually spoke after clearing his throat quietly.
You thought he wouldâve been more uncomfortable, or rather less than willing to take you up on the suggestion, but you were surprised yet again at his almost enthusiastic response. Was he finally letting you see past the high and sturdy walls heâd built up at the beginning of your relationship? If you didnât know any better, youâd say he was coming out of his shell a little as well, but then again it wasnât as if you knew enough to make that observation in any kind of confidence.
Maybe he's always been more open like this to people he was close with, and you were only just beginning to see this side. Even if that was the case, it made you happy to think that he was starting to trust you enough to change the way he acted. You were content enough to be considered as something close to a friend, at least.
âItâs late. We should head in,â his familiar voice snapped you out of your rampant thoughts, causing your feelings of bewilderment to skyrocket.
I need to keep my shit together!
âYeah, sorry for spacing out.â You laughed, trying to shrug off the mortification at failing to keep your wits about you. Maybe if he stopped being so oddly charming with his perfect lips and enigmatic eyes, youâd be able to focus a little better.
You made your way to the last motorhome in the line. Seokjin had parked it a little ways from the others, almost as if heâd sensed your need for privacy and solitude. You were somewhat introverted at the best of times, so after a whole day of socialising you really wanted nothing more than to retreat back to your own little space to recuperate.
Had he figured that out, or was it just a lucky guess? Maybe he was just the sameâŚ
You followed him into the portable house and weaved yourself around the table and sofa lounges, eventually coming to stop by the comfy looking queen bed at the very back. This was where things would get weird again. Youâd never shared a bed before tonight, and the couches werenât large enough to allow anyone space to sleep either.
âAh, I guess we donât have a choice. You donât mind, do you?â you remarked reluctantly, knowing that you were more than happy to have company in your bed, but he might not feel the same.
âWell what else can I do?â He shrugged with indifference. âI wouldâve taken the couch if I couldâve already.â
âRight, sorry I didnât tell you before we left.â
You sighed, more embarrassment clouding your vision as you hurriedly searched the inside of your suitcase for a flimsy shirt. It was way too hot during the summertime to wear a full set of pyjamas, so you hoped Seokjin wouldnât feel even more uncomfortable by your choice of clothing.
Better than being naked.
You shuddered with heat at the thought but pushed it all away quickly. This was already bad enough as it was.
âItâs fine, I honestly donât mind if you donât,â he grunted while beginning to unbutton his shirt. You swallowed thickly at the sight of his broad chest and collarbone slowly getting revealed the lower he went. That, paired with the way his hair had become messy and rugged after driving and running his hands through it, was a dangerous combination you were enjoying way too much.
âWell, I donât. Never did." You smiled nervously before moving to the bathroom to get changed.
You knew that sharing a bed with him after so many months was never going to be an easy feat. It was awkward at best, with you trying your best to ignore the thoughts of him being so close - thanks to your fear of doing something unpredictable - and him having no trouble forgetting you were there altogether. It was nothing for him. Somehow, he could just sleep the night away and not think about the presence of other people constantly.
The sound of soft breathing, the occasional movement of a foot or arm, the slight rise of the duvet with every deep inhale, or even the dreamy mumbling slipping past lips every now and again. You envied the peaceful way he drifted off, knowing that living with siblings most likely allowed him to factor these things right out.
For you, they were things that kept your eyes wide open, mind running a million miles a minute.
~
The next morning brought you to the first town on the itinerary. The sleepless night faded away as you parked the large vehicle next to the others, legs already bouncing with excitement at the thought of finally visiting some of your old childhood pastimes.
You all spent the day traipsing through the streets while some of the older family members greeted the shopkeepers and residents heartily. You could feel your heart bursting at the sight of Seokjin looking around the place with wide eyes, obvious amazement lighting up his face as he regarded the interactions of those around him. There was a growing fondness there you never thought youâd see.
One parkland picnic later, and the two of you found yourselves mingling with the crowd. You surprisingly found it easy to talk about your married life together. Even though he was quiet and unsure of how to act, everyone loved Seokjin and found great amusement in teasing and joking around with him. Many times you had to bite your tongue to hold back a snort of laughter. The old uncles and aunties never did hold back their rowdy banter.
âI remember when I was first married, son,â your eldest cousin said and clapped a hand firmly onto Seokjinâs shoulder, âItâs always magical at first, but soon youâll want to chew your own ear off!â
You all laughed at his sardonic humour. Everyone, even the hopeless romantics, knew that marriage was never supposed to be perfect.
âIt canât be magical the whole time?â Seokjin asked thoughtfully, the tone of his voice light-hearted but the nature of the question way too innocent for your boisterous family to bypass.
Okay, maybe not everyone knew.
You almost choked on your sandwich when the people around you burst into loud laughter, feeling sorry for your husband. He just didnât know the group of people he was dealing with yet.
The older men clinked their beers together. âLook at this guy, he wants a life-long honeymoon phase!â
âNah, I think heâs looking for an early grave instead.â
You furrowed your brows and yelled through a smile, âHey! What do you take me for, a monster?â
They exchanged wide-eyed looks and chuckled again before waving you off and tousling your hair affectionately.
âBe careful or Iâll tell Aunty what you said.â You giggled, trying to fix your messy tresses.
The loud and harmless jesting continued amongst the rest of the group while you turned to see how Seokjin was going with his food. A smile curved your lips again when you spotted the slight crinkle appearing at the corners of his eyes. He was amused, and the way the beaming sunlight streamed down through the tree branches to light up his grinning face was breathtakingly perfect.
His eyes shifted to meet yours suddenly, and you were glad it didnât cause his expression to change. His gaze, irrevocably beautiful, was so warm and lively. If you could, you would want to see him this happy for the rest of his life.
âSon,â he mouthed quietly after shifting his gaze away from your awestruck scrutiny, âIâm still waiting for my own father to call me that.â
A ruthless stab to your chest. Not only from his words, but rather the lack of emotion he expressed while speaking them.
You didnât know the kind of relationships heâd had, or how heâd lived his life so far, but trying to find out was like trying to connect with a brick wall. This simple statement about his father had you swallowing back sympathy, and it was upsetting to think that youâd never even once thought to ask him about it.
You wanted â no, you needed him to open up to you.
Quickly sifting through one of the cute picnic baskets led you to find a bundle of sweet packaged snacks. You would do anything to wipe that distantly forlorn look off his face, and universal law stated that candy was sure-fire way to lift anyoneâs spirits. You personally loved them, but it was tough to determine if his tastes would match.
âWant a jelly?â
âWait, you mean-â he started, but cut himself off when you finally fished out a specific packet and let out a small âah!â of triumph. His eyes shone with recognition, and you became confused at his unexpected reaction.
âI havenât had these since I was young. They were my favourite, but my mother wanted us to stop eating too many sugary thingsâŚâ Seokjin revealed, his lips pulling up into a smirk as he recalled his childhood memories.
âWell, youâre on your own now, and Iâm not going to stop you. So here.â You chuckled and waited until heâd grabbed a handful of jellies before popping one into your own mouth.
Seokjin shook his head with a huff. He obviously found it stupid how heâd followed the strict rules of his parents for so long, not allowing himself to rebel in the slightest. It had never been an option before, but now here he was â living in a motorhome, eating hot dogs and jellies, basically hitchhiking through old weary towns rather than having his head down working for a big-time business firm.
You watched his eyes trail over you again, almost picking up his phantom of a voice saying, âSo this is the life I could have lived.â
It brought a smile to your face as you thought about the way his gaze had lit up and drank everything in with such fervour. His cold and masquerade-like world was changing, he was seeing life from a different perspective, and knowing that youâd played a part in that brought you immense joy.
It was a warm glow of happiness youâd never felt or known before.
Night fell once more. Everyone filtered away to their beds, eyes drooping and bellies full of the various baked goods of the town. It had been an amazing day, and you knew you couldnât have asked for a better opportunity to help Seokjin emerge from his shell.
He seemed to be enjoying the trip for the exact same reasons you always had. Except now, you had another.

Rather than the blaring noise of your alarm, it was the soft nudge of Shikamaru moving against your back that woke you up. A soft rustle of the sheets followed by a dip in the mattress and then the unconscious huff of a man only partially cognizant filtered through the still morning air, drawing you further out of your peaceful slumber.
Groggy and half asleep yourself, you blearily cracked your eyes open to peer over at the clock standing like an ominous sentry among the clutter on the bedside table. There was a little over fifteen minutes left until it would start screaming at you to get up, you realized with some amount of dread. You wanted to drift back off for the remaining time you had but you were already awake and regretfully aware of your surroundings so there was little hope of accomplishing that. It certainly didnât help that the looming obligation of having to go in to work at the Hokageâs office made you feel ten times more tired than you would have if this had been one of your days off. Being an adult really sucked sometimes.
Shikamaru seemed to settle behind you then and you felt his arm curl around your middle as he snuggled as close to you as he physically could. You couldnât stop yourself from smiling into the pillow as that anxious feeling immediately dissolved as if it were little more than sugar in warm water; thoroughly smothered under the reassuring weight of his body curling around yours like a contented house cat laying in its favorite sunbeam. You instinctively knew you could face anything the world had to throw at you with him at your back like this.Â
Issuing a low hum of appreciation into the quiet room, you rolled your ass against the flat plane of his hips by way of greeting. He shifted, seemed to realize that you werenât asleep anymore, and his arm protectively tightened around you in response.Â
âItâs not time to get up yet, baby.â Shikamaruâs voice was rough and gravelly with lingering traces of sleep and the warm puff of air from his mouth tickled the nape of your neck, making goosebumps erupt across your skin.Â
You drew a contentedly slow breath, basking in his presence pressed up against you like this. âI know.â You murmured, with just a hint of forlorn melancholy for effect. âI donât want to go though. Not in fifteen minutes. Not ever.â
âThen donât.â Was his all too simple answer to your conundrum.Â
You quietly laughed as you reached under the blankets to cover his bony knuckles with your palm. The body heat coming off him was almost enough to make you forget that the likelihood of finding snow outside was exceedingly high even with spring fast approaching. He was a surprisingly effective substitute for a space heater for being as skinny as he was.
âI have to. Tsunade-sama is expecting that report to be finished today. Plus, thereâs that meeting with the councilors.âÂ
Shikamaru snorted and pressed his face into the crook of your neck, nuzzling into you. âAs fun as that sounds, Iâm going to enjoy my day off. I have no intention of leaving this bed before noon.â He let out a quiet sigh before adding, much more softly, âI wish you could stay with me.â
âI do too.âÂ
A quiet moment passed over the bedroom and the only sound you could make out was the steady whisper of breathing. Slow and shallow. Rhythmic. It very nearly lulled you into dozing off again, which you wouldnât have complained about, but Shikamaruâs thumb tracing nonsensical patterns just above your belly button managed to keep you tethered to reality. The rough callus tickled, only a little bit, and you knew that getting anymore sleep was well and truly a lost cause now. Resigned, you languidly stretched after a prolonged moment only to issue a quiet groan at the resulting series of pops down your spine.
âYou could always tell them youâre sick.â He helpfully suggested, dragging his hand down over your abdomen to slip between your parted thighs. You tensed slightly but didnât protest even when the pressure of his palm cupping possessively around your pussy made an interested spark ignite deep inside your gut. âMy dad doesnât actually need you there to do the paperwork for him. Heâs perfectly capable of managing on his own for one day.âÂ
Giggling, you brought your topmost leg down to effectively trap his fingers where they were. âShikamaru ... are you encouraging me to lie to your own father?â
âOnly if it keeps you here in bed with me.âÂ
You rolled your eyes at the far wall but couldnât exactly deny that the offer was tempting. Just enticing enough to make you seriously consider it. But Shikaku would have your ass if he found out youâd been dishonest with him just to lay up with his son all day and that was to say absolutely nothing about how Tsunade would react. You werenât so sure you were brave enough to test your luck against the two of them but your resolve started to crumble when Shikamaru rolled the heel of his palm against your clit, just the right amount of teasing pressure to leave you wanting more.
His powers of persuasion were simply too much to contend with sometimes.
âLetâs say I agree to this.â You intoned distractedly. âAre you going to protect me from the Hokageâs wrath tomorrow?âÂ
âTo my dying breath.â The sly tone lacing his now much more alert voice attested to the fact that he was already sure of his victory. The absolute ass.Â
âAnd your father?â You pushed, trying to convince him as much as yourself that this wasnât the best-laid plan heâd ever come up with.Â
Shikamaruâs mouth curled against your shoulder and he laughed. âIt doesnât matter who it is. Iâd never let anyone hurt you.â A brief kiss pressed into you through the thin material of your t-shirt, succeeding in its intended purpose of making you want him even more than you already did. âYou should know that better than anyone else by now.â
You wanted to curse him for doing this to you but you were nothing if not a slave to your own desire for him. Blindly reaching back to tangle your fingers in his loose hair, you swiveled your hips down against his hand in a slow grind that left you feeling just shy of needy.Â
He chuckled into your back, contentedly letting you tug at his scalp while he rolled his wrist in time with your tense, halting movements. The pressure sent exquisite jolts of pleasure racing through your body and it didnât take long at all for the two of you to find an easy rhythm with one another; pushing, pulling and grinding together in tandem. You could feel the spot between your legs steadily dampening as your arousal swelled and you moaned when you felt the rising nudge of his cock against your lower back just a brief moment later. A silent reminder that he wanted you just as bad.
âYouâre going to be the death of me at this rate ...â
Releasing a clipped exhale, Shikamaru leaned into you with his weight and half rolled you over so that he was draped across the length of your back. The change in position had you spreading your legs and bracing your topmost knee on the mattress for leverage. Pivoting your hips was made all the easier now and you rode his palm in earnest, grasping at the sheets with an increasingly tighter grip that had them bunching under your fingers.Â
âThatâs funny,â He whispered against the outer shell of your ear, rubbing the hard length of his cock against your upturned ass enticingly slowly. âSometimes I think the same thing about you.âÂ
You keened, very softly. The pressure Shikamaru was exerting on your eagerly throbbing cunt doubled down at the low noise of wanting youâd issued and he responded with a soft groan of his own. Turning his head, he dipped his mouth down to kiss the side of your neck; pausing every so often to give your thrumming pulse a teasing lovebite. It had you squirming underneath him, desperate for the full brunt of his attention without your clothes in the way.Â
âShikamaru ... nngh.âÂ
Grunting in acknowledgment, he started humping you a little more earnestly. His enthusiasm picked up as the red hot desire you were mutually stoking in one another gradually mounted, dragging the hard weight of his cock over the swell of your ass so earnestly that a shudder rippled down his spine. The bed creaked softly as the sharp contours of Shikamaruâs pelvis drove into the plush cushion of your thighs and pushed you forward, bowing your back underneath him. You whimpered in delight and pressed your face into the pillows, arching up to eagerly meet his next thrust.Â
âDonât hide from me, baby,â He rasped, making your pussy clench in anticipation. âLet me hear those pretty sounds, okay?âÂ
You swallowed hard and tentatively lifted your head. âAahn .... donât - nngh - tease me ...â
He drew a pointed breath but the sudden blaring from the alarm beat him to the punch and you both started.Â
âShit!âÂ
Shikamaruâs fingers jolted against your cunt and quickly withdrew, shoving the blankets out of the way as he brought his hand up to reach over onto the bedside table. He slammed the button to silence the damn thing so hard that for a split second you actually wondered if heâd broken it. The strange sound it made upon abruptly cutting off didnât exactly bode well for its longevity.Â
That thought was short lived though and you promptly forgot all about it when he pulled back to go up on his knees, taking the comforter with him as he tugged at the waistband of your sleep shorts. One good pull was all it took to have them bunched just under the swell of your ass and a fresh wave of pleasant tingles ran up your spine when you felt the chilly morning air hit your exposed backside. The warmth of his hands descended upon the plump globes almost immediately, squeezing and kneading them in a pinching grip that made your breath hitch.Â
âSeriously though,â You sighed, sounding far more sultry than youâd intended as you peered over your shoulder at him. âWeâll both be on the chopping block if we get caught like this.âÂ
Scoffing, Shikamaru lifted his gaze to fix you with a wry look even as he curled his hands around your hips and easily flipped you over onto your back without much resistance on your part. âWe were always going to be in deep shit if we got caught like this so thereâs really not any higher risk involved. What with you being the Jounin commanders secretary and me his son, after all. Talk about a conflict of interest.âÂ
He grabbed at the front of your shorts then and you curled your legs up so he could tug them down and off. They were carelessly tossed over the edge of the bed and he promptly lowered himself to nestle between your thighs, jostling you slightly with the movement. You felt yourself flush hot when his intentions became clear, happily relenting when he nudged your thighs further apart.
âWould you believe me if I said I donât care anymore?â He asked mildly.Â
âThat depends.â You murmured, your heartbeat picking up a little bit as you watched Shikamaru dip his face to press a lingering kiss to the apex of your mound. âProve it.âÂ
The confident smirk that slashed across his pouty mouth wouldâve been enough to convince you all on its own but then he shimmied a little further down the mattress and bent close to your bare cunt. Dark lashes fluttered shut against the apples of his cheeks, savoring the moment as he tilted his head and slotted his mouth over your slit. You jolted slightly at the hot, wet warmth; lips parting on a silent groan as he kissed you, slow and steady, gradually working your labia apart with the motion. The moment his tongue flicked out to get its first taste made you twitch and hiss at the sensation, curling your toes against the sheets. His warm breath fanned out across your pelvis on a quiet sound of satisfaction, feeling almost like the barely there caress of spectral fingertips. It was enough to make you completely forget your obligation to the Hokage. To his father. The whole damn village.
With a low exhale, you arched into his mouth and brought your hands down to thread them through coarse, ink-black hair. Shikamaru issued a noise of encouragement against your pussy, the hint of vibration making you clench as he leaned his scalp into the cradle of your palms. His eyes flashed open a brief moment later and he peered up the length of your body to pin you with a hooded look that was indescribably attractive, particularly while he was dragging the flat of his tongue over your clit. You trembled, brows knitting together when a roiling pang of desire shot through you.Â
âYouâre always such a tease ...âÂ
One of those sharp, thin brows quirked up in amusement and he nuzzled into you, opening his jaw wider. The impossibly soft, wet cavern of his mouth enveloped the tingling nub and you seethed through your teeth when he gave it a torturously slow suck. He issued another rumbling groan and did it again, slowly suckling at your cunt in a rhythm that seemed to match your heartbeat. The quick flick of his tongue intermittently lashing out to prod your clit made you groan a little harder, a little louder; and you tipped your head back against the pillows as you spread your legs wider apart for him.Â
âOooh ... Shikamaru âŚ!âÂ
He grunted a low sound of mirth, burying his nose further into the plushy give of your mound. Tongue slipping past his teeth once again, he took his time slowly tracing circles around the sensitive pleasure button nestled between your folds while unhurriedly working his way inward. You were trembling softly by the time he brushed against the center of your clit what seemed a small eternity later and your grip on his hair tightened. Back and forth. Up and down. His attack on your body was sure and precise, alternating between feather-light strokes and grinding it down with the flat of his tongue. It had you shaking with rapidly mounting ecstasy, twitching and writhing on top of the sheets as you softly keened up at the ceiling.Â
âAahhn .... Ahh! Right there ...âÂ
Wetly smacking his lips as if you were the sweetest dessert heâd ever tasted, Shikamaru lifted his head to draw a strained, faltering breath. You watched as though through a dreamy haze as the pink of his tongue darted out to lick his lips and lap up the evidence of your arousal. Those dark, dark brown eyes roved up to regard you again, glinting with mischief and surety alike as he slowly smirked at your flustered expression.Â
âWhoâs to say I donât want you to cum on my cock instead of my face? Hmm?âÂ
The way you trembled underneath him at the low, seedy promise in his voice did not go unnoticed and he chuckled softly when you fitfully tugged at his hair. Lowering his face again, Shikamaru took a long, wet lick up the length of your slit and you gasped.Â
âWhy canât I have both?â You mewled, jutting your pelvis to give him better access.Â
He offered you a shrug of his thin shoulders and affectionately nuzzled against your core, the tip of his nose just barely teasing your clit. âWe have all day, love. Thereâs no rush.âÂ
That little reminder that you were skipping out on work made your stomach settle like a lead weight. You started to sit up, already taking a breath to announce that you had to send a message to the Hokageâs office before everyone started to wonder at your absence, but Shikamaru was quick to curl his arms under your thighs and flatten his palms across your abdomen.
âCalm down. Youâd still be getting ready right now so we have time.â He said, smiling up at you when you opened your mouth to protest. âJust relax. Let me take care of it.â
You couldnât have missed the double entendre even if youâd wanted to and you hesitated a moment before gradually easing back onto the mattress. He looked quite smug as he made himself more comfortable, nudging even closer before closing his open mouth over the apex of your slit again. Stiffening, you slipped your hands down off his head in favor of clutching at his wide hands where they were still keeping you pinned and he promptly picked right back up where heâd left off. Your thighs started shaking almost immediately, making you suck in a faltering inhale as white hot static surged throughout your cunt and into the rest of you.Â
âOoh, shit ...!âÂ
Shikamaru issued a breathless laugh against your soaked pussy, burying his face between your thighs so he could worry your clit between his lips. The slow simmering flames burning within you roiled and heaved, making the rest of your body feel pleasantly oversensitized even as the heat of ecstasy continued to pool directly into your loins. You could tell you were edging dangerously close to the edge when your hips began twitching under his ministrations and you twisted, arching into the air even as you swiveled your hips to grind against Shikamaruâs face. Clearly recognizing your tells for exactly what they were, he withdrew his tongue and sealed his mouth around your clit and sucked. Hard.Â
âAaah - nngaaah ...!â Blinding starbursts erupted across your vision as you went ramrod stiff against the bed, gasping raggedly. âShika - aaahn!âÂ
You were vaguely aware of his mouth curling against your soaked cunt and then he slowly leaned back, tugging on your clit until it slipped past his lips. The sharp sensation of having that throbbing little nub toyed with so relentlessly had you writhing and bracing your feet against the mattress so you could enthusiastically jut your pelvis up for more. Shikamaru was altogether uncooperative though and he turned his head to press a rough kiss to your soft inner thigh, smearing a viscous mix of arousal and spit across your skin in the process. You hissed emphatically, trembling even as you brought your knees together and sandwiched his face between your legs with a frustrated little whine.
âThatâs not fair ...!âÂ
Dragging his hands up from your hips, he gave the pliable soft meat of your thighs a tight squeeze as his attention flitted up to coolly regard you from under the fall of dark lashes. âAll's fair in love and war, baby. You know that.âÂ
You pulled your lower lip in a pout and warningly flexed your legs around his head. âIs that so?âÂ
He offered you a cocky, lopsided grin, entirely unperturbed. âWell, I canât say I necessarily agree with that statement in a broader sense but in this case at least, I think the point stands. Donât act like you donât love what I do to you.âÂ
Unable to stop it, you smiled right back at him. He was right and both of you knew that. The slow buildup he was so adept at torturing you with would just make the explosive crescendo all the more satisfying and when he gave your leg a soft pat, you readily eased up the tension keeping your knees together.Â
Shikamaru pushed against the bed and rose up on his knees to loom above you. The plain black, oversized t-shirt heâd gone to bed in was yanked over his head in one smooth motion and tossed to the side, exposing the long, lean line of his body. You licked your lips hungrily, watching the muscles in his stomach dance just below the skin. He didnât allow you much time to ogle him though, shuffling close to kneel between your parted legs before reaching out to hook his broad hands under your armpits and tug.Â
You giggled when he effortlessly pulled you up into a sitting position, bringing your hands up to squeeze at his narrow hips. He smiled at you, warm and unguarded as he could be only when you were alone like this. The sight of him looking so happy was enough to have your pussy and heart throbbing in equal measure, and it took everything you had not to start swooning right on the spot.
Oblivious to your thought, his long fingers came up to affectionately brush the side of your face before trailing down to grab the hem of your shirt. It came off as quickly as his had, exposing your tightly puckered nipples to the cool air, and you shuddered even as you lifted your hands to pull at the hem of his sweatpants. Youâd never been so glad for elastic waistbands as you were when his straining cock popped up into the scant space separating you two, blissfully free of the restrictive clothing.Â
Shikamaru issued a low sound of approval, palming your breast in one hand and possessively squeezing the supple swell of flesh while the other came up to curl around your neck. You leaned into the covetous gesture as you wrapped your fingers around the hard length proudly jutting from his pelvis, tilting your face up when he leaned close to press his mouth over yours. The exchange was chaste and savory in deference to the fact that neither of you had brushed your teeth yet, and you issued a quiet groan against his lips as you steadily pumped him with a gentle roll of your wrist that made him sigh through his nose.Â
A soft, wet click rose up between your bodies when you tugged the meat of his foreskin down just enough to expose the glans. There was a fat drop of precum beading on the tip and you lifted your thumb to gently smooth over it, smearing the sticky slick across the head of him. Shikamaru groaned in response, breaking apart from the kiss with a low sound of wanting as he sat back on his haunches to look at you. His eyes were resting at an attractive half-mast, lips parted in a crooked, pouty âoâ and the faint dusting of pink on his round cheeks effectively reminded you just how much you loved him. He was easily the most attractive man youâd ever known with his smooth jawline and sharp facial features, and the fact you were lucky enough to call him yours just made your heart swell.Â
Reaching out to brush a loose strand of thick, coarse hair behind his ear, you gave his cock a slow tug. âI wish you could see yourself right now.â
He snorted a quiet sound of mirth and shot you a meaningful look from under the fall of his lashes. âThat should have been my line. You look wrecked and all Iâve done so far is eat you out âŚâÂ
âWell, youâre very good at it.â You offered him a salacious smile as you pulled, bunching the tip of his foreskin with another quiet click before rolling it down under the ridged glans in one smooth motion.Â
The furrow between Shikamaruâs brow deepened and he shuddered at the sensation. His gaze darted down to watch you drag your palm down towards the base until the mess of black curls there brushed your knuckles. He tightened his hold on your neck then and pulled you close, leaning forward to meet you halfway. Your foreheads bumped together and the two of you stayed like that, alternating between looking into the others face and peering down at what you were doing to his cock.Â
âNow whoâs being the tease?â He huffed, lightly brushing the rough pad of his thumb over your tightly puckered nipple.Â
You arched into the touch with a sharp inhale. âYouâre welcome to come take me whenever you want âŚâÂ
Mouth curling in a lopsided smirk, Shikamaru sent you a long look from just a scant few inches away. You could see the familiar glint of fond endearment reflecting back at you and when he drew a haltingly slow breath that made his shoulders lift, you licked your lips in anticipation. âWhen you say things like that, it makes it hard for me not to act like a brute.â
âI might like it.â
He laughed, low and quiet; angling close to brush the tip of his nose against yours. You returned the gesture, never once breaking eye contact, and when he leaned further into you just a short moment later, you readily let him push you back against the pillows. Shikamaru followed you down, taking his rightful spot on top of you as he seamlessly slotted his hips between your thighs. You felt his straining cock nudge your cunt, tracking more arousal across your labia when it slipped through your drenched folds. A faltering groan rolled off your tongue as you brought your arms up to link them around his neck, trying to pull him down to rest against you, but he continued to hover over you with one hand braced against the mattress.
The other slipped into the tight space between you two, reaching not for his cock but for your sopping wet cunt. You jolted slightly when you felt the pads of two fingers press down on your clit, drawing tight circles around it, and the high strung arousal from only a few minutes ago immediately came rushing back at full force in a blinding surge.Â
âAhh!â
Biting down on your lower lip to stifle your cries of pleasure, you tilted your head back to fix him with an imploring look. Shikamaru attentively regarded you for a prolonged beat, watching the way your face twisted in pleasure while your body twitched against him, and the strand of hair youâd tucked behind his ear only a short while ago slowly slipped forward to hang over his temple again. You wanted to reach up and push it back, curl your fingers against his scalp and hold it in place, but with a twist of his wrist he was suddenly prodding at your entrance and you couldnât think straight.Â
âShikamaru!â You blurted, digging your nails into his back.Â
A sly edge crept across his expression and camped there as he breached your entrance with the tips of his fingers in torturous slow motion before suddenly withdrawing them. âWhat do you need, baby? Tell me.â He repeated the same action twice more, just barely dipping into your body and then immediately pulling back out. It had you clenching down on nothing and letting loose a frazzled groan into the statically charged air.Â
âI need to cum on your cock,â You choked out, trying once again to pull him down on top of you. âPlease âŚâ
Shikamaru acquiesced this time and a reverberating groan rumbled deep in his chest as he settled against you, the pliable swell of your breasts squishing against the firm expanse of pecs. You invitingly arched against him even as you brought your legs up to hook them around the small of his back, trying to nudge him closer with the balls of your feet. Shikamaruâs attention was focused on guiding himself to your waiting entrance though and you both seethed in unison when the glans started to sink inside. The stretch gradually grew more intense one torturous fraction at a time until you were blinking through a film of stinging tears, your mouth hanging open in stricken ecstasy. The further he reached inside your body, the harder it was to stay grounded and you finally threw your head back with a half choked moan just as he settled against you at long last.Â
âGod,â He breathed out, sounding like even that much was a struggle. âYou have no idea how good you look when Iâm inside you, baby. You really donât.âÂ
You drew a shuddering inhale. âIt feels good âŚ!â
âI gathered as much.â Shikamaru murmured laughingly as he bent close to press a bruising kiss to your jaw, his narrow chest working against yours. âIâll start to get a big head if youâre not careful.â
âYou already had a big head.â Whimpering softly, you turned to shove your face into his shoulder and muffle the last bit. âAnd I donât mean your ego.âÂ
That didnât stop him from hearing it though and Shikamaru issued another breathless laugh as he flattened himself flush against you, working his arms between your back and the mattress. âMean girl.â He mumbled in a fond tone.
You smiled against his skin, feeling like you were floating somewhere between this plane and the next as he slowly angled his hips back. The drag of his stiff cock against your spongy inner wall made you feel lightheaded and dizzy, head lolling on the pillow as you braced for what was coming next. You were much too far gone, lost in the rosey daze of carnal pleasure, to realize that you should have left about ten minutes ago and the thought never even crossed your mind when he pushed back in straight down to the base. A grunt on his end and a staggered gasp on yours with an accompanying wet squelch of your body sucking him in deep. That was all you could focus on at the moment and you clung to him as he started up a steady rhythm of push and pull, the soft thunk of your headboard meeting the wall helping set the tempo.Â
Shoving his face into the crook of your neck, Shikamaru seethed with every downward lunge while his fingers dug into your ribs hard enough to bruise. The onslaught of stimuli was overwhelming in the best possible way and you heaved for air as the space between your bodies quickly grew stiflingly hot and sweaty. It made your flesh stick to his, abrasively pulling at the soft expanse of your tummy where it was pressed flat to the hard line of his stomach. Your breasts were in the same boat and you mewled when you felt the soft skin of his nipple drag across yours, sending explosive shockwaves racing down the curve of your spine.Â
You writhed under him and locked your ankles together over the small of his back, clutching at him in your desperation. Shikamaruâs quiet groans rose in pitch when your pussy clamped down on him with a warning tremor so strong that it seemed to bleed right through you and into him. Slowing to a shuddering halt, he took a moment to steady himself and he used the opportunity to grind against your soaked core with a stuttering pivot of his hips. The coarse hair at the base of his cock teased your clit with the motion, making you teeter that much more closely to the brink of release and the added pressure on your quaking guts instantly had you shaking uncontrollably around him.Â
âShika - aaahn! Shikamaru! Iâm gonnaâ cum! Please! Nnnghh ⌠donât stop!âÂ
Sucking in a haggard breath, he resumed his earlier thrusting with noticeably more urgent enthusiasm. He wanted you to find release on his cock, basked in the knowledge that he could make you shatter with his own body the same way some men took pride in the knowledge that they could go for hours without ever stopping to ask if their partner had been satisfied at any point during that time. Youâd been there and done that before, and as a result you hadnât thought the sheer heights of ecstasy Shikamaru took you to could actually exist before youâd met him. It was a heady, intoxicating feeling to know your pleasure was so important to him and you happily let the cresting waves of building tension swallow you up even when they threatened to suffocate you with the sheer intensity of the sensation.
The headboard was now banging against the wall loudly enough that there would be no mistaking the reason, and you idly hoped your neighbor was away on a mission. You werenât so sure if you could survive the embarrassment of receiving a formal noise complaint, particularly not when the pressure in your throbbing cunt doubled down and you suddenly realized that you were wailing Shikamaruâs name up at the ceiling.Â
âShhh. Itâs okay, baby.â He rasped, panting into your neck so vigorously that you could actually feel the moisture beading between the two of you. âI - nnghn. Iâve got you! Cum on my cock so I can fill you up, okay?âÂ
The mental image of him releasing deep inside you added on to the potent memory of him doing just that many times before made you seize, releasing such a stricken shriek of delight that you sounded possessed to your own ears. There was no stopping it though and you heaved once, twice - the tense muscles of your fluttering pussy staying locked in dizzying overload for the beat of two seconds - and then the coil snapped. You jerked under Shikamaru so hard that the bed slammed into the wall with enough force to make the contents of the nightstand clatter. You probably would have shot right off his dick if heâd let you but, true to his word, he held tight. Keeping his arms linked around your convulsing body, he fucked you right through your orgasm and into his own until your cunt was a pulppy, churning mess and he was shooting ropes of hot spunk against your cervix. His off kilter groaning rose in pitch and joined yours, the two of you shaking against one another for what felt like a small eternity.Â
Shikamaru was the first to come down and he went boneless on top of you, trying to catch his breath even as he nuzzled into while you rode out the lingering tremors of orgasm. Your shuddering passage clamped around him in rapidly weakening contractions a few more times before stilling altogether and you let out a flusteredly gratified puff of air that made his hair shift against your cheek. Slowly letting up the tension keeping your legs curled around his waist, you let them slide down the backs of his slim thighs to hook in the bends of his knees. Both of you were sweaty, tangled up messes but the contentment radiating around you was practically palpable. Youâd never dreamed sex could be so satisfying.Â
It was the plush give of Shikamaruâs lips on your neck that finally drew you back to reality and you turned your head, pressing a kiss of your own to the outer shell of his ear. You felt his lips curl into a smug grin and you couldnât stop yourself from smiling too. It was infectious.
âI think youâre slowly getting louder and louder.â He murmured softly.
âShut up.â You laughed, bringing one hand up to tangle in his hair and cradle the back of his skull while the other looped across his broad shoulders.Â
Shikamaru breathed a deep sigh of contentment as he shifted on top of you, seemingly getting more comfortable. A few minutes passed in this fashion and it seemed inevitable that the two of you would drift off in each other's arms when an abrupt knock at your front door startled you both awake.Â
âIâll get it.â He grumbled and sat up, though not without a yawn to go with his compliance.Â
You giggled, rolling over onto your side so you could watch him stumble out of bed and back into his sweatpants. The urge to reach out and playfully smack his ass had just gotten the better of you when another knock sounded at the door, but this time it was accompanied by a voice.Â
Shikaku-taichouâs voice.
Youâd recognize it anywhere and you froze, arm still stretched out on its aborted mission. Shikamaruâs expression visibly paled as he shot you a quick, surreptitious glance and you both seemed to realize that neither of you had sent word to the Hokageâs office regarding your absence at the same time. The twin looks of dawning horror probably wouldâve been quite comical had the circumstances been any different.Â
âIâll answer the door,â You whispered, heart in your throat as you jumped up to find your clothes. The thick, goopy mess between your legs promptly made itself known and you winced. âHurry up and hide, just let me handle this.âÂ
âOh, like thatâs going to do any good.â Shikamaru snipped as he frantically looked around for his discarded shirt. âThatâs the Jounin commander out there and my father! If it was that easy to hide from him, he wouldnât be your boss right now.âÂ
You threw your hands up in frustration and spun around to face him, suddenly finding yourself standing chest to chest with your (secret) boyfriend. The two of you hesitated, regarding each other for a quiet moment of uncertainty. âWhat do we do?â You finally asked him in a small voice.Â
Shikamaru opened his mouth to speak but it was Shikakuâs words drifting through the front door that answered your question, much to your mortifying shame.Â
âLook, I know my son is in there with you so you donât need to try and hide it. Iâve known about you guys for some time now, actually. Just let me in so we can talk, alright?â
He didnât sound particularly upset, more tiredly weary than anything else, but you still felt certain youâd die from embarrassment alone. A brief look at Shikamaru quickly assured you that you werenât the only one feeling that way and you reached out to comfortingly take his hand. Youâd never seen his face so beat red in all the time youâd known him. Even the time heâd slipped on ice and landed flat on his ass when heâd been trying to show off in front of you hadnât made him look quite this humiliated.
âItâll be okay.â You assured him in a soft tone. âLetâs just talk to him, okay?âÂ
Forcibly shrugging off his shellshocked daze, Shikamaru peered into your face for a long moment while those big brown eyes darted back and forth over your features in search of an answer. Then, so imperceptibly you almost missed it, he squeezed your fingers with a cautiously optimistic smile. âOkay. Letâs tallk.â
