so uuhhhhh i just watched Wilson for the first time and:

wilson “being house” for the first half of the episode

house putting 100 dollars on cancer

the liver⁉️⁉️

wilson “being house” with cuddy and there not be a big charade about it (i stan wuddy)

house being the last thing wilson sees before going under (and his little smile)

wilson referring to everything as ours (we do need a bigger refrigerator, I’m changing our address to a p.o. box)

wilson putting an offer on the house???

when shows do an episode like Wilson, it’s always a 50/50 if they do the inverse or not and i sooooo wish they did with this bc i would have loved to see the team dissect house about visiting wilson and house’s internal dilemma about visiting wilson

another thing i liked about Wilson was that it has such good hilson and wuddy representation

i have so much to say about wuddy and this episode added to that discussion immensely but that is for another time, moving on

hilson:

“Wilson” is an iconic episode for a lot of reasons, but on top of everything else (“if you die I’ll be alone”, “the person you want when your dying isn’t always the person you want when you’re living”, Wilson being the worlds softest marshmallow, Wilson channeling House, the beginning of The Gay Loft Saga), my favourite thing is that because the camera is following Wilson this episode, we have no idea what House’s case is about. We get a glimpse into how insane House and his team much look to the rest of the hospital, how random and out of pocket their conversations must seem from the outside.

also we see so much less of Cuddy because Wilson doesn’t seek her out unnecessarily the way House does.

what house did for freedom master was a perfect microcosm of the way he operates. he wants to do something kind so he does something irresponsible and frames it as if he’s trying to prove someone wrong. he wants so desperately to believe that he himself is not delusional, or that if a delusion makes someone happy it doesn’t need to be fixed, that he risks the life of someone who he clearly cares about, despite not knowing him at all.

also, he can’t run, so when he gets scared, he freezes. this happens a lot but i feel like there was so much attention called to it in this episode

Episode 1 out of every season really does not pull any punches oh my GOD

listen this exchange makes me fucking FERAL

"do you think this friendship is the best you can do?" is supposed to refer to house's resistance to pursue romance, but damn if it doesn't sound to my ears like nolan is asking house to pursue something romantic with wilson, specifically

"wilson is not a consolation prize" (i feel ILL)

and just. god . . . the last couple of lines. house being resigned to always coming second to whatever new woman wilson is currently dating. house only being able to comfort himself with the knowledge that wilson will lose said woman eventually, letting house slink back into first place by default. house planning on living the rest of his life like that because he doesn't think he deserves any better.

and all of this happening at the end of season 6, shortly after wilson bought an apartment for the two of them and bought house an organ in an effort to pick a piece of furniture that wilson felt reflected himself. and when house has been trying so hard and staying clean and going to therapy and learning not to repress everything quite so much, and growing closer to his best friend in this home they were supposed to share. and then sam came back, and within weeks house is asked to move out so sam can move in and he's in second place again, because that's where he'll always be.

one of my favorite things about hotd is how we get exposed to the differences in the dragons' personalities. one great way to see this is through how each dragon forms a bond with a new rider. when aemond claimed vhagar, she bucked around like a bull and tried to throw him off to make him prove his worth by staying in the saddle. when seasmoke claimed addam, he hunted addam down and basically claimed addam himself. when hugh claimed vermithor, he stood up to him and roared in his face. and when silverwing claimed ulf, she headbutted and sniffed him before deciding to take him for a joyride. each has such a distinct personality and you can see a clear dichotomy between dragons pursuing their riders and riders pursuing their dragons.
