do you wanna see the west with me?
Notes below!
This is not a realistic road trip at all, but here are the places/activities shown:
Yorktown Battlefield, Virginia: the site where General Cornwallis surrendered in 1781, bringing the end of the Revolutionary War
Liberty Bell, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: the famous bell with the message "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof", and later a symbol of liberty for abolitionists and suffragists
Drive-in theater: outdoor cinemas that reached their peak in popularity in the 1950s to 60s; the film is The Searchers (1956)
Kayaking: a fun lake/ocean activity
Trail of Tears National Historic Trail: this trail crosses nine states and follows the forced displacement of Cherokees, Chickasaws, Choctaws, Muscogees, and Seminoles due to the Indian Removal Act in 1830
Traffic (and billboards): a bane to many and common in car-dependent cities
Cedar Hill Cemetery, Vicksburg, Mississippi: one of the oldest cemeteries in the US still being used; predates the Civil War and includes a Confederate burial site
Devil's Tower, Wyoming: a majestic (and sacred) butte and the first US national monument
Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah: a flat, empty salt pan estimated to hold 147 million tons of salt and a popular racing site
Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming: a geyser in the world's first national park known for its reliable eruptions
Gas station, Nowhere, USA
Horseback riding, Montana: no comment, just a fun time
Las Vegas, Nevada: the world renowned Sin City, a place that caters to many vices
Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex, North Dakota: group of missile defense facilities including missile silos and the pyramid-shaped radar system; built in 1975 and decommissioned after one day of operation, a "monument to man's fear and ignorance"
Hoover Dam, Nevada and Arizona: hydroelectric power plant on the Colorado River; the highest dam in the world at the time of its completion in 1935
Space Needle, Seattle, Washington: an observation tower with a revolving restaurant built for the 1962 World Fair "Living in the Space Age", a theme chosen to show the US was not lagging behind the USSR in the Space Race
Sequoia National Park, California: home of the world's largest tree by volume (General Sherman) and the highest point in the contiguous US (Mount Whitney)
Muir Beach Overlook, California: a former base station overlook with dugouts that gained importance immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 as a means to watch for attacks on nearby San Francisco

#2Raw2Ride and why horse people everywhere are alarmed
I was surprised that no one has mentioned 2raw2ride through this blog yet though given the vast majority of media coverage on this guy I've seen us from equestrian content creators I suppose not a lot of non equestrians have heard about this.
For those not in the know, there is a social media clout chaser who according to him quit his six figure job so he could plan a ride on horseback from Austin TX to Seattle WA. This in of itself is not a bad thing but, he has made so many decisions that has alarmed the horse world. Many people have done this kind of trek on horseback but it takes a lot of preparation for you as the rider and for the horses.
The man in question bought this horse who was basically a pasture pet about a month before he started this ride. He is riding a single horse and has not brought along a pack animal. There was and still is no evidence that he has maped out planned stops for resting and supplies. His plan was to make the over 2000 mile trip in 100 days on this singular horse which has not been conditioned for endurance riding. The kind of physical conditioning necessary would take a year of training at least but the horse had no more than 30 days and it's showing through the fact the horse was startomg to deteriorate in body condition from day 1. Here are some images clearly showing his drop in weight.
This was the horse the day he was tried for purchase
Tumblr media
He was a chunky boy. Perhaps borderline overweight
This was when he owned the horse but before he left on the trip
Tumblr media
Also notice the fact the horse has marks where the saddle would be indicating irritation already. Id say this is a good body condition but instead of stopping here it kept going. Pay attention to the slope of the hip to the tail and the slope of the belly
This is the horse on the day of departure
Tumblr media
In the 30 days he owned him before the ride the horse dropped a ton of weight
This was a photo from last week
Tumblr media
you can start to see the spine showing from the croup (top of hip to the tail). And th belly no longer has that uniform slope. It's actually becoming concave behind the ribcage. Compare the neck here to the first image. Huge difference.
On top of the weight loss, the horse has shown signs of soreness in the left hind since he left. If this was an official endurance ride, the horse would not have been cleared to make this trip in the first place.
There have been several red flags that many have pointed out that indicates this guy has not educated himself and lacks the horse experience he claims to have.
Improper use of equipment and lack of ability positively identify the equipment he is using
When going over his equipment, he shows the bit and refers to it as a " snaffle" so let's look at bit that could be considered a "snaffle"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are snaffle bits. A snaffle is categorized as a bit which applies direct pressure to the mouth. In other words the amount of pressure you apply to the reins is what the horse feels.
Now let's look at what he is using
Tumblr media
So this is a JR Cowhorse bit and it looks like this
Tumblr media
Now this does not quality as a snaffle, it is instead classified as a curb or leverage but because it is designed to put a leverage action on the horse's mouth. Whatever pressure you apply to the reins, the horse will feel multiplied making this harsher by design than a snaffle. On top of that this but has a twisted wire mouthpiece which is one of the harshest mouthpieces there is.
Please also take note of the way the bit is positioned. See how the part that's on top (the lever) is longer than the part on the bottom (the shank). The screenshot from his video has the shorter portion on the bottom and the longer portion on top. The bit is upside down. But wait it gets worse. Bits are generally designed with a curve to the mouthpiece so it can follow the natural curvature of the mouth to make it more comfortable for the horse
Here's the bit i use for my mare who is sensitive near he front teeth. A nice dramatic curvature that is easy to see
Tumblr media
Comfy
Now this is a curvy bit if it was backwards
Tumblr media
Ouch
Guess what. Not only is the guy's bit upside-down, it's actually also backwards. This makes an already uncomfortable bit even more uncomfortable for this horse who is spending hours a day in it.
Mr. Experienced horseman also doesn't know how to tie a rope halter correctly
Tumblr media
This is how he tied it
This is how it should be tied
Tumblr media
Knot below the loop or the knot will loosen
The guy said on the news he has ridden for many years and was a champion show jumper. Funny. No one can find a show record on the guy.
2. Not understanding how to properly feed and hydrate a horse under these conditions
In his video going over what he packed, he pulled out a bottle of corn oil and a clearly unused mineral block.
Corn oil is not a good thing to feed a performance horse, because it's pro inflammatory. You're just making an already sore horse more sore. Not to mention any corn product that starts to go bad can make a horse extremely sick. The unused mineral lick shows that the horse is not getting enough electrolytes. Even given free choice many horses don't get enough electrolytes so they need to be added to feed or given in paste form, but all he seems to have is the block. The horse has been showing outward signs of dehydration and with drought season in Texas just around the corner it's not looking great.
3. Lack of emergency supplies (specifically for the horse)
In the same video he showed off what he has in the med kit for his horse.
-thrush medication
-a flathead screwdriver
-two pain meds (both halfway gone when the video was taken 🤔. Also would not be competition legal for welfare purposes as if your horse is on these they are not well enough to tax themselves)
The screwdriver is supposedly so he can remove a shoe, but no you can't remove a shoe with a screwdriver. You'd need at least a couple of farrier tools to take a shoe off even if it is already half off.
This is not at all efficient packing. What he does have is mostly useless added weight and what he doesn't have is vital supplies. If this horse starts to bleed out or needs a hoof packed good fing luck.
4. the hematoma
Ah of course the swelling on this poor horse's belly
Tumblr media
jury's still out in what actually caused this but given its location it is either a gaul from an ill fitted girth or from spur irritation.
5. Constant backpedaling
First he stated he would not take donations for this ride. One week later he put his linktree up in his instagram profile stating that donations would go to feeding and caring for the horse. I assume people. Allrd him out on it so now he states it goes toward buying beer. He also has taken more rest days than he said he would and he's been slowing way down on his updates. He allegedly even (finally) contacted the long riders guild asking for help (after rejecting help many times before). It seems even he is starting to notice how ill prepared he is.
Anyways don't feed this guys clout. Don't give him attention and don't give him money. He's a liar and a horse abuser and it seems to him any attention is good attention.

Despite some things that make me super hesitant about TLOU season 2, I was still excited about the little teaser we got. That part of me that is excited to see how the game translates to the show just can't be resisted, I guess.
So anyway, I'm putting my thoughts about the teaser under the cut for spoiler reasons (and so I don't take up the whole dashboard).
Bullet points just because.
I love Catherine O'Hara and I am excited she is in this. However, I'll be a little disappointed if they don't keep that conversation between Tommy and Joel from the beginning of the game. Although maybe this was a fake out and those are clips from two different scenes. Although I think I read that Catherine would be playing someone in Jackson. Maybe they felt the need to address the leadership structure of Jackson, idk.
I thought it was cool that the first scene from the teaser is almost an exact match to that trailer for the game. Always loved that shot Ellie at the dance. Crooked Still better be in the show, dammit.
That shot of Ellie's half finished tattoo tells me we will get Finding Strings. I love the look and atmosphere of that level, and I can't wait to see how they do it in the show. I hope I will like it! I struggled with the first season, in that I had a hard trouble separating it from my love of the game. I'm excited to see it in a different medium, but at the same time, I think I will always just love the game version better. Anyway, this kinda became a ramble. They better include Cat in the show, which is all I'm saying.
Unless they skip Finding Strings all together and that shot is from Ellie's return to the hospital.
Speaking of which, what is that show of Ellie screaming? It looks like she is in a hospital? Flashback, or maybe a dream? Or after the Joel incident? But if so, why isn't her face all bruised and bloody? This was by far the shot I am most curious about.
The horde attacking Jackson directly! I am actually super excited about this because I have wondered how Jackson would defend against that. I mean, I guess they would just shoot them, maybe use molotovs too. But yeah, I like getting more Jackson lore. There's also a shot of two people riding on horseback (think it as Joel and Tommy), so we must be still getting the patrols. I'm super curious as to how they'll do Joel's death. Also, we better get the weed den scene.
First look at Abby! I still wish they had gone with a more muscley woman like game Abby. The show version still looks good, from what I can see in that little shot. We'll see once it comes out though.
Also the first look at the seraphites!! Looks like a male and female scar brutes in the woods, which means we'll get the Abby hanging scene! Or at least we better. Still no look at Yara and Lev, but we have to get them this season if that scene is in it. I wonder when we will get the casting info.
Dina crying with a gun and a lantern. My guess is Joel's death related? I really have no idea though. The actress for Dina did a good job in another movie I saw. I'm interested to see what she does in this role.
Ellie running and just spraying that rifle at something or someone! I'm assuming we'll just get the prologue and Ellie's Seattle day 1 this season. So this could be from either of those, although it looks like she is wearing her Seattle outfit, so this has to be from her encounters with the WLF or something from the tunnels.
Speaking of tunnels, the last shot of the teaser is totally that one scene from the tunnels. The one where Ellie and Dina have to quickly shut the door on that clicker. I wonder if we'll get shamblers in the show. I just hope we see more infected overall.
Who is camped out on the side of that mountain! We can only see one person but there could be another in the tent. Unless that is a rock and not a tent. Anyway, that shot was super LOTRy.
I am so glad we got Jeffrey Wright back as Issac! I hope we get to see some of the scenes they cut!
Overall, I'm super curious as to what they will do in the show! If you are still here, thanks for reading!

Please say more about Grubi being a horsegirl and monsterfucker...what fish did he fuck...your tags have capitivated me 🙏
do you think sometimes when tumblr says, "go ahead, put anything," the user experience person who made that decision wakes up in the middle of the night, pain in their chest, knowing what they opened the door to?
anyway in this little story i think it must happen the first time just after the season, when the avs in fact did not win the cup but the expansion draft hasn't yet occurred, but grubi has a good sense about what might happen, so he schedules a little trip up the coast to see if seattle is, in fact, a place he'd like to live and also play hockey.
this is my story and i can do what i want, so he finds a place that gives tours on horseback of the coast, and books the earliest time that he can because there's something about the fog lifting off the water in the early gray of morning that tugs at him, soothes the tugged on spot, snaps it back into place. like belonging. and that morning the horse is steady under him, steady and sure, but they get separated from the main group a little, exploring the beach, and round a rocky outcrop, and that's when grubi sees it: shimmering, strange. walking out of the water on legs. his eyes have a hard time settling on it, like it's not something meant to be seen. his heart's doing that stuttering thing, but his horse isn't scared, so he rides closer.
it's a fish. iridescent, eerie, striding up the beach on two legs like a human. he looks closer. like a man, apparently. he coughs, and the creature turns towards him. something bright happens, very bright. grubi's got to close his eyes against the insistent glare. his horse almost spooks, and he loses a few seconds settling her down. and when he looks again, there's not a fish standing there anymore - just a man.
the man ends up being driedger. and the first time grubi fucks him, he's fully a man (and it's not on the beach that morning, although they get close). but not always.

Every day is a new opportunity to grow. None of us need January 1st as an excuse to decide to be a better person, but if you are someone who benefits from resolutions I pray you leave negativity, hatred and judgement behind and take care, compassion and understanding forward into the new year. You can be better if you want to be. 2022 was another rollercoaster for me, but that’s life. I had some lows and some . I swore into @mpc705 and worked on a huge. ever met and made some incredible new friends (looking at you @robertritterstudio @emily_norine @palmacosta @_betweentheseams_) I fulfilled a lifelong dream and bathed in the energy of Stonehenge with my partner in crime Alpha Wolf and beloved friends @bethhamptonart and Oglington while visiting some of my favorite people across the pond @dexbonus @iambermudarhombus @gmmoley I finally visited the motherland of Ireland and soaked up all the magick she had to offer, recharging my soul and connecting to my ancestors. I visited Seattle for the first time with my babe @summoplex for @emeraldcitycomiccon thanks to largemetallicfellow sparking a new passion for attending out of state cons that I can’t wait to extend into 2023. I returned to the SoCal con scene as an attendee for the first time since 2019 with my love @its_allykatt debuting the one new costume I made in 2022. And I rounded out my year going big for my birthday. I visited my favorite spot in SoCal (Solvang) along with my third stay at my obsession @thevicklosalamos where I ate my heart out and went horseback riding @syvhorsebackrides for the first time since I left Texas. I took my daemon Alameda along to my first @stfoodcinema screening of Muppet Christmas Carol. And to round it all out I adopted Hey Spyro from @misselliehoneybee backyard and spent my holidays bonding with him at home. As I look back on 2022 I have no regrets. I went into the year with an open mind and an open heart and I learned and grew and changed and I look forward to doing it again in 2023. FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: The Night of Electric Bikes by Josh Feit
ADVANCE ORDER: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/the-night-of-electric-bikes-by-josh-feit/
A former Seattle Journalist, Josh Feit is currently the speechwriter for Seattle’s regional mass transit agency. His poetry has been published in Spillway, Vallum, the Halcyone Literary Review, and Change Seven among, other journals. He was a finalist for the 2021 Wolfson Chapbook Poetry Prize and the 2019 Lily Poetry Prize. He was shortlisted for the 2020 Vallum Award for Poetry and won Honorable Mention. This is his first chapbook. He lives in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, which has some of the deepest tree canopy in the city, alongside some of Seattle’s densest housing. You have it backwards, NIMBYs.
PRAISE FOR The Night of Electric Bikes by Josh Feit
Josh Feit notes herein that urban planners call the time commuters have to wait for mass transit “dwell time.” The Night of Electric Bikes is dwell time well spent, like no matter where you’re headed, you’re already on your way. As Feit writes, “You have arrived. Your destination is found in others.” These poems are sidewalks and streets and cities made of stories, and within them, many more to explore. Take your time, the next one will be along soon.
–Roy Christopher, author of Dead Precedents
Josh Feit’s new collection presents a surrealist vision of our present future: “what you’ll hear is nearness walking away.” He finds we’re already too late to change the story, riding public transportation in urban centers or lingering on sidewalks, while intuiting the wonders multiplying around us: Upstairs neighbors who “have taken up indoor horseback riding.” He also reports on the breaking news of the past, like the suicide of Evelyn Francis McHale, whose improbable leap from the Empire State Building in the spring of 1947 seems more heroic and absurd than anything in today’s newsfeed . The Night of Electric Bikes forms a maze like a mind dazzled by fleeting images glimpsed from a window on the last train out of town.
–Joseph Chaney, Director of Wolfson Press
“Josh Feit‘s The Night of Electric Bikes is a swirling collage of city life; not just the literal city of commuters and economics, but also the haunted nocturnal city of myth and history. In its pages we find Kafka’s Gregor Samsa on his way to a modern Airbnb. We find tormented lovers and mysterious suicides. We find shimmering clouds of jazz drifting through the unnerving silence of the covid-19 pandemic. Like a seasoned tour-guide peering into the depths of the collective urban psyche, Josh Feit leads us through the labyrinthine streets, revealing something vulnerable, bright, and strange at every turn.”

Playing The Last of Us 2 for the first time, part 4
SPOILER WARNING FOR THE LAST OF US SERIES.
The previous part:
------------
So. Joel's dead. The scene of his death, him just being beaten to death with a golf club, it hit me pretty hard. ... Though not as hard as it hit him.
Ellie isn't taking it well. She wants to go to Seattle and get revenge on the Washington Liberation Front people who killed Joel, but Tommy isn't so sure going off half-cocked is such a good idea. Dina is doing her best to comfort Ellie, but Ellie isn't really able to be comforted just now. But Dina is ride or die for Ellie at this point, so if Ellie is going to Seattle, so is Dina.
This sequence is rough, emotionally speaking, and grief is like smoke in the air. You can't help but breathe it in. Seeing Ellie navigate the emptiness left behind by Joel's absence is... it's rough.
This must be how Joel felt when he lost Sara. Except Ellie has something Joel didn't have: somebody to blame.
Oh shit. Turns out that Tommy already left to go to Seattle. Maria isn't happy. She wants Ellie to go make sure Tommy doesn't get himself killed.
Maria: "Just do me a favor. Bring my dumbass husband home in one piece, please."
Dina and Ellie go.
-----------
Seattle, day one.
Dina and Ellie are on horseback riding through the woods, and it's sunny and not drizzling near Seattle and my suspension of disbelief is immediately destroyed.
After a bit, they arrive at the entrance to the Seattle QZ. Looks abandoned. FEDRA failed here. No bodies, though, just overgrown fences and buildings. Ellie and Dina explore, searching for some clue to either Tommy's presence or the presence of the Seattle Liberation Front.
Right. Time to explore Seattle and die to infected a lot.
It takes a while, and the game uses the opportunity to flesh out Dina and Ellie's dynamic and give us more of a sense of who Dina is, and God damn it I want them to go live on that farm outside Jackson together and be happy. The banter, the slice of life stuff, it's incredibly good. I wish the entire game were made of this and there was no Infected and no revenge to seek.
We make it to a WLF base, and everyone seems to be dead here and Infected have wandered in. No idea what is going on in the city, but it doesn't seem like a place humans survive easily.
Ah. Tommy has been here. That's why everyone is dead. We are on his trail, and it's getting late so Dina suggests finding shelter and scoping out the area. Somewhere without infected, and without WLF. We jump over a barbed wire barrier, and...
Boom. Shimmer -- the horse -- is dead, Ellie gets captured, and Dina is separated from her. Ellie is being interrogated, and she struggles to get free. Fortunately, before she can be killed, Dina comes to the rescue! Aaand after saving Ellie's life, promptly needs rescuing. So Ellie breaks free and saves her life in turn. Gunfight ensues, and I die many times because I continue to be bad at this.
Reinforcements keep arriving, and we run and then sneak to safety, and it dawns on Ellie that this isn't just some tiny group of Fireflies. This is practically an army. Ellie found a letter from one of the Wolves. She's at the TV station. El and Dina set out, and I'm getting tired, so this seems as good a place as any to stop.

okay leia i just thought of this so feel free to reject this prompt if it’s shit. i’m going to say “cowboy” and “love interest” because you have two cowboy aus going on lol
cowboy is teaching love interest about lassos but it’s going completely downhill, so they kind of lashes out on love interest. an argument begins and love interest says something like “i just want to tie this lasso around your neck and lalala” or “i’m going to catch you with this lasso and throw you at lalala”. cowboy can say “i dare you to try” or maybe just end up caught by surprise but the thing is the love interest ends up lassoing the cowboy! they finally made it yay but omg the cowboy is now tied down…
it’s just a loose idea but i hope you like it!!
I HAVE NEITHER REGRETS NOR APOLOGIES ABOUT THIS

Riding Together
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aelin shoved away the image of Rowan wearing her hat and all the things that seeing him like that did to her self-control and focused on the day, focused on leading the tour group of guests around her ranch.
Gods. So last night hadn’t been a dream.
But she could not allow herself to think of that. Guests, Galathynius. Focus. On. The Guests.
All the guests, not just the one she wanted to focus on.
“And here is where all of our horses live,” Aelin announced, pulling open the barn door.
The tour group she was leading oohed and aahed at the horses, strolling down the line of stalls to admire each one. Darrow gave a brief introduction to horseback riding before inviting anyone interested to have the chance to ride, and a very nice line formed up, the guests eagerly waiting their turns. Aelin and Darrow saddled up the usual batch of horses for the guests, leading them one by one to a horse and helping them mount.
This group had so many interested guests, though, that she was forced to lead Elentiya, her mare, out of her stall for herself. “C'mon, my girl, let’s show these city slickers how we gallop, yeah?” Elentiya whickered as if in agreement.
And then a throat cleared. “Ma'am?”
“Hmm?” She turned, forcing a blush not to rise as she met the bright pine eyes of Rowan Whitethorn, the Seattle businessman.
“I don’t think I’ve been helped,” he said, apologetic. “Could you guide me?”
Aelin flicked her glance quickly around the barn. Few horses remained, all of them wilder and less ready for untried guests to ride them.
And Elentiya.
Hell.
“Well, Mr. Whitethorn, do you mind riding double?”
“What?” His brows furrowed.
She chuckled. “We’re fresh out of single horses, save for the ones not yet tamed, so unless you’re willin’ to wait for the group to return, seems like you’ll have to ride double with me.” She winked. “But don’t worry, city boy, I won’t make any moves.”
He swallowed hard. “I’ll trust you, Miss Galathynius.” It was his turn to wink. “Nothing more pleasant than riding with an experienced rider, as I see it.” The innuendo in his voice not going unnoticed.
That man and his words.
Stop fucking thinking about last night, Galathynius!
“Right,” she said, leading him to Elentiya. “Since you’re the inexperienced one--” he let out a deep, soft chuckle at that--“I’ll help you get into the saddle, but I’ll be sittin’ in front of you.”
“My favorite,” Rowan whispered into her ear, low enough that only she could make out his words.
“Be professional,” she hissed, covertly pinching the crease of his elbow. “Now, step up on this stump here,” she instructed him, guiding him onto the step and helping him swing one leg across Elentiya, the mare standing quietly in place and waiting for Aelin. “Excellent. Now scoot back a li’l, city boy.” Rowan did, and she swung atop Elentiya in one fluid motion, settling herself so her back was flush with Rowan’s warm, solid chest.
“Isn’t this cozy?” he hummed, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Behave,” she smirked, pressing her hips backwards just to hear him gasp sharply. “Let’s go, my girl.” She nudged Elentiya with her heel, and the horse stepped into motion. Rowan’s grip tightened around her waist, bringing a smirk to her lips. How cute, the city slicker and his nerves about riding horseback.
“You doin’ alright?” she asked after a few minutes.
His hold relaxed. “This is nice.”
She chuckled wickedly. “Well, you’re takin’ to ridin’ right quick, city boy. Let’s see how you do at a canter.”
“Wha--” His question was cut off when Aelin nudged Elentiya into a canter, his arms wrapping right back around her.
She grinned. “Loosen up, Whitethorn!”
It took him many minutes, but eventually, he did loosen up, his grip around her waist loosening, and grinned into the wide blue sky. “You know, this really is fun!”
“Glad you enjoy it,” she returned, grinning broadly, loose strands of her hair fluttering in the breeze.
~
They reached the rest of the group out in the open corral shortly later, joining up with Darrow and his presentation on lassoing. “An’ with enough practice, y’all can see how the ropers catch cattle so easily.” Darrow tossed the coil of rope to another ranch hand, who caught it easily and uncoiled part of it, tying a lasso knot with graceful ease. He then flicked his wrist, and out sailed the rope, landing neatly around the neck of the practice dummy cow to much applause.
Rowan, now dismounted with Aelin’s assistance, leaned into her side. “Now that’s a fancy skill,” he murmured.
“Miss G!” the roper called. “Show the city slickers yer skills, yeah?”
She barely had time to protest before he was tossing her the lasso. “All right, all right,” she laughed, detaching herself from Rowan and striding out into the packed dirt of the corral. “Now y’all just stand back, okay?” She gave the lasso a few experimental twirls, then reached back and flicked her wrist forward and out spiraled the lasso in a string of neat coils, the loop at the end floating down around the practice dummy’s neck.
The guests cheered.
“Your turn!” she declared, nodding to Darrow. He passed out short lengths of rope with the loops already pre-tied, teaching everyone how to hold the rope and letting them flick it towards the practice dummy. Most of them managed a passingly good toss, a handful even getting close to the plastic cow.
But Rowan? He was hopeless. The rope somehow tangled around his hands, he couldn’t toss the lasso more than a few feet, and he’d even managed to rope himself, looping the coil around his own leg.
“Havin’ fun there, city slicker?” Aelin teased from her perch on the fence.
“Shut up,” Rowan grumbled. “I can do this!”
“Mhmm,” she crooned. “When you’re ready for help, I’m sittin’ right here.”
“We’ll see who needs help when I lasso you, cowgirl,” he purred, challenge--and something darker--lighting his beautiful eyes.
Well, that went straight to her core.
“Good luck,” she smirked, hopping off the fence and watching him fumble with the short length of rope. He threw it straight into the air, swearing viciously when it landed in a heap at his feet.
“Fuck!”
“Alright?”
“Fine,” he grunted. He picked up the coil and shook it out, swore at it, and then flicked it into the air.
And to everyone’s shock, it sailed out in a neat arc and looped around Aelin.
She exclaimed in surprise as the rope tightened around her shoulders, pinning her arms by her sides. “Do I look like the plastic cow, Whitethorn?”
“Uhh...” he mumbled, flushing crimson.
Darrow strode over, chuckling. “Seems like someone got the idea!” he joked, swiftly untying Aelin. “Next time, aim for the plastic cow, city slicker!”
“Noted,” Rowan mumbled.
Aelin winked at him. “No one’s commenting on your accuracy of aim, Whitethorn.”
His eyes flashed dark. “Aelin,” he rumbled, his voice a warning.
She smirked and shrugged, striding back over to Elentiya. “Catch a ride with Darrow, city boy! I’ve got work to do!”
~
Aelin lounged on the porch swing of the family house as dusk fell, sipping the iced tea in her hand and watching as the vibrant hues of sunset faded into deep blues and grays. Evening was her favorite time of day, the hours when the guests were all occupied up at the guesthouses and she could just relax on her front porch, letting all the worries of running Galathynius Ranch fade away like the sunset.
Footsteps crunched in the gravel driveway.
She looked sharply up to find a very familiar man striding up to her porch, his t-shirt smudged with the dust of the day and his expensive khakis crinkled.
“Private property, Mr. Whitethorn,” she purred, not budging from her seat.
“I’ve an invitation from the owner herself,” he returned smoothly, taking the front steps in one long stride and planting himself in front of her. “Or do you truly not recall anything from last night?”
“However could I forget?” She winked. “Best ride of my life.”
Rowan pounced, his muscled arms caging her in against the cushioned swing. “And how would you enjoy a second experience?”
“Why don’t you find out?” she smirked.
“With pleasure,” he growled, sweeping her into his arms and kissing her fiercely, all tongue and passion, and walking her backwards into her house without breaking the kiss. Aelin groaned into his mouth, taking control of the kiss as she whirled them around and pressed Rowan against the wall, her hand fisting in his shirt. He grunted in surprise. “Aelin.”
“Ro,” she murmured, tracking a line of hot kisses down his strong throat, pushing his shirt up and off of him so she could kiss his tattoo. “So gorgeous.”
He lunged for her, intent on pressing her back into the wall and teasing her until her legs gave way, but she dodged, scurrying up the stairs and into her room with him right on her tail. “Playing hard to get, cowgirl?” he rumbled, padding towards her, every inch of his stature screaming predator.
“Just leading you to your favorite place,” she smirked. And dropped her oversized hoodie, revealing only bare, tanned skin.
“Fuck,” he groaned, shoving his pants and boxers to the floor. “You’re so beautiful, Ae.”
“I know.” She grinned. “Want to show me?”
“Such sass,” he purred, placing his broad, hot hands around her waist. “Such fire, baby.”
“You love it,” she shot back, trailing her own hands dangerously slowly down his chest, over the sharp cut of his hips.
“I do,” he smirked.
Then he tossed her onto the bed.
“But I love making you scream even more.”
Fuck her, this man and his dirty talk. She’d barely had the time to moan before he pulled her to the edge of the bed, dropped to his knees, and locked his gaze on hers as his tongue swept up her soaked core, licking a long, flat stripe up to her clit. “Rowan,” she moaned wantonly, knitting her fingers into his hair. “Gods, Ro!”
Spurred on by her moans, he devoured her, licking and nipping, his tongue everywhere all at once. He slipped two fingers into her, groaning at the way she clenched reflexively around the intrusion, and focused his attention on her clit, sucking the swollen little bud into his mouth and nibbling lightly. She screamed his name and came hard, her release coating his face, and he worked her through the throes of her orgasm, his fingers moving in long, lazy strokes. “So good for me,” he purred, kissing a path back up to her lips and guiding her back against the pillows.
Before he could kiss her, she’d flipped them over, straddling his chest, and whipped a coil of rope out from under her pillow. She smirked down at him, noting the way his chest heaved, and swiftly looped the small lasso around his wrists, yanking his hands above his head and securing them to her headboard.
“Baby,” Rowan moaned, testing the restraint.
“You look so good all roped up,” she smirked, raking first her gaze, then her hands, down his body. “Gonna give me a ride, city boy?”
“Yes,” he breathed. “Yes, please.”
Such nice manners. She winked at him and lifted her hips, then slid all the way down his cock, seating herself fully, both of them groaning at the sensation. “So full,” Aelin panted, her head tipping back in pleasure.
“Move,” Rowan gritted out, his eyes screwed shut.
She clicked her tongue. “Think you give the orders here, pretty boy?” He whimpered. “No, you do not.” Her fingers danced across his cheek, caressing the strong planes of his face. “But since y’look so desperate, I’ll give you a bit of a reprieve.” And she rocked her hips in a slow circle, moaning loudly, her control fast vanishing as she sped up her pace, bouncing on Rowan’s cock, chasing the pleasure he wrung form her. “You can move, Whitethorn.” He jerked his hips up into hers, frantic, curses and moans of her name spilling from his lips as he fucked her. She moaned his name as she felt herself hurtling toward orgasm, her nails scratching down his chest.
“Aelin!” he roared as he came with a grunt, spilling himself into her.
“Rowan!” she moaned, the feeling of him finishing inside her sending her over the edge, her orgasm rolling over her in waves. “Ohh, Rowan,” she panted, collapsing atop his chest, barely remembering to reach up and untie his hands.
“So good, baby,” he breathed, flexing his wrists before wrapping his arms around her, his big hands stroking her back. “So good.”
“Mmm,” she mumbled, carefully pulling herself off of him and falling into bed, letting him be the one to pick up the warm washcloth and clean them up. “Stay, Ro.”
“Of course,” he whispered, settling in beside her. “Of course I will.”
Seattle Horseback Riding: The Ultimate Guide to Scenic Trails
Seattle is a city that is born between mountains water and forest. Another interesting activity that will give you a unique opportunity to step up and take a closer look at the city’s green environment is horse riding. Suppose you are an experienced rider or have never been on horseback.
In that case, horseback riding provides a stunning way to discover the scenery of the Pacific Northwest including Seattle’s towering evergreens and peaceful rivers.
Tumblr media
Yes, it is that simple, and if you are planning a Seattle horseback riding adventure you should not worry about how to organize it, just contact us and we will do everything.
As with any other recreational activity, it is easy to plan and organize for horseback riding in Seattle because of so many stables and tour companies. There are also many areas where there are commercial guided walking tours plus tours for the more independently spirited hiker.
Here’s what you need to know when planning your trip: Here’s what you need to know when planning your trip:
Book in Advance: During the summer months and early fall when people go on vacation and travel it is more difficult to get stables and tour companies to take a group. It is also important that you make a booking prior to blocking all the cars so that you can be given a slot.
Dress Comfortably: If you are to ride then it is recommended that you wear long pants and sturdy boots so that you are comfortable and feel protected. The helmets used when riding are mostly supplied by stables; however, they are always free to bring your own.
Guided Tours Available: For the first-timers, or those who simply wish to garner some basic information on the region, a guided tour is the best option. Tourists talking to professionals will be taken for different wonderful trails and will learn many things about the region and its fauna.
Seattle horseback riding provides the perfect opportunity to escape the city and connect with nature, all while enjoying the company of a majestic horse. So if you're in Seattle and looking for a memorable outdoor adventure, be sure to add horseback riding to your itinerary!
Hi Chel!
Do you ever wonder what Darkles and Sunshine might’ve talked about on that ride to Os Alta. In the show I mean. Other than that tense convo we saw. Did they spend a night together under the stars maybe (idk how long it took them to get to the little palace) ? Did they talk? Did he make a little bundle out of his cloak so his future bride could take a nap at some point? Also stupid Aleksander looked way too good at the end of that ride too. All sweaty and hair all mussed.
You've accidentally hit on one of my Grishaverse pet peeves which is how far apart are things from other things?! The map has no scale! At one point in the show, Kaz states that Kribirsk is three days' travel from Os Alta (on horseback? in a carriage? in a carriage that's only like 60 miles, maybe 90, based on some quick Googling). In King of Scars, one of Zoya's chapters says that Ivets (or where they are outside of Ivets) is about 100 miles from Os Alta, despite being diagonally southeast across the whole country from Os Alta?
And I understand that, yes, fictionally speaking it would be inconvenient to have a whole lot of our characters' journeys eaten up by travel time, but that makes Ravka not that big and proportionally impacts the rest of the world. Maybe it's my fault for thinking of Russia, which is 5,600 miles across from east to west, but... In Shadow and Bone, it takes about a week (one full day in the carriage on the Vy + "a few days" + two more days on horseback taking side roads) for Alina and the Darkling's party to get from Kribirsk to Os Alta, which always seemed more sensible to me. (I put a much greater distance between Os Alta and Kribirsk in Out of Time, when they take a train for 36 hours to get from one place to another. That's how long a train journey from Los Angeles to Seattle takes!)
If we go with the show and assume Kaz's assessment of three days' travel to the capital is by carriage, Alina and the Darkling maybe could have made it in two days if they kept switching out fast horses. They would have probably had to stay the night somewhere at least once, if not twice. And while in the Shadow and Bone book it's less awkward because there are a bunch of soldiers with them, imagining them camping out alone as near strangers is delicious. I imagine Alina arguing with him over taking watch, because he'd probably want to stay up and guard her while she took a short rest and she would point out that he's the one managing the horse and it'll do no one any good if he falls asleep at the saddle.
Realistically, they probably found an inn to stay in. Much less conspicuous to do when you're two people traveling together than when you're with a small unit of soldiers, and we've already established that drüskelle flee from the Darkling, so his presence would ensure protection. ETA: I’m revising this after sleeping because Alina was ABSOLUTELY filthy still when they arrived in Os Alta, so no way that girl stayed anywhere that she could get a bath. So it's fun to picture Alina trying to fall asleep on the hard ground with the red kefta balled up under her head as a makeshift pillow, and then blinking and finding it's morning, and the warm black cloak was draped over her in the night.
(And yes, he did look good.)
Part Two Under the Cut:
Dina,
I can’t believe three months have passed. I was so scared that I would never get to talk to you again after that first day. I’m glad we’ve been talking, even if it’s once a week. Robin told me I could leave a letter with you until you’re ready to talk again. I know our conversation last night was a lot and I’m grateful that you give me the time of day, well the time of night, to talk it out.
I’m learning to be grateful. I thought I was before, but I don’t think I was. Not in the way I am now.
I’ve always been grateful for you, no matter what happens. You’ve always been a beacon in the darkness for everyone. I’m no exception to that, I’ve always been drawn to you.
I’ve accepted that I never really healed from what happened with Joel. With what I did in Seattle. I believed I could be good for you and JJ if I kept everything to myself. But that didn’t stop the nightmares or the attacks. I didn’t want to talk because you were already helping me so much, and we had JJ. I never took the time to sit down and talk with you about what I was feeling. You were right, like always. Talking helps. I don’t think I’ll stop now that I started.
Maria has me helping her plan new routes to expand Jackson territory. I keep telling her to talk to you, you’ve always been better with a map than I have. I don’t know if she was supposed to tell, me but you’re lead electrician now? It’s no surprise, you’re so fucking smart.
Maria gave me some of the stew you made, glad to see you used the Miller recipe. Told you smoke enhances the flavor.
Robin has a few books for you on all sorts of electronics and shit components and schematics I found when I was helping Esther sweep the old town for supplies last week. I also left a book with JJ about the stars, he was with Robin when she answered the door. I think he remembers me more each time I see him. He wanted me to read again, probably likes the silly voices. I told him next time I come over to visit.
He is so big now. He has so much hair, so many teeth!
I regret not being there to see him grow.
I’m humbled that you’ve been letting me back into his life. The last planned visit, we played with his dinosaurs and stuffed animals all afternoon. He likes it when I give them horseback rides. I swear I spent an hour just bucking his toys off so he would laugh and saddle them up again. Over and over, it was the most fun I’ve had in so long. Totally worth the bruises I gave myself.  I’m going to convince Maria to give him a horse of his own so he can take all his friends on rides and spare my knees.
I have my own place now, a little RV out by the Western wall, Maria gave me some more of Joel’s stuff. I’ve been going through it little by little. I don’t know where, but he found this booklet that breaks down the staging of rocket ships! It’s pretty cool.
You think JJ might understand what I’m saying if I say “orbital velocity” in a silly voice? Probably not.
There was a carving of a shuttle orbiter next to the booklet. Must’ve missed it when when we grabbed stuff before we left for the farm. I hardly remember those days it’s like my mind wasn’t there. It’s surprisingly detailed. I think he modeled it after Discovery, it looks just like the real thing.
The space book he was reading before he died, there was a section about it.
I never did thank you properly for being with me that day. I never told you how much it meant to me. It was easier being in his house with you there. A lot of things are easier with you there.
I want to share that with JJ one day. He’ll probably appreciate the subtle nuance of the silly voice more when he knows what orbital velocity is.
I’m picking up a week of farm rotation (I know) from Glenn, he says in exchange he’ll get me some good paints for wood. I gotta sand it down and prime it somehow, but I wanna paint it. If it’s okay I’d like to give it to JJ?
If it’s too soon
If not, I did always want a space ship of my own. I’ll take a scaled down version over no spaceship.
I’m slowly starting to build up my callouses, I still want to teach JJ how to play the guitar if you’ll let me. It’s always gonna be your call. I’m writing for me again, I haven’t quite written anything too great, but I’m working my way up to that too.
dawn breaks in fire
burning,
razing the ground as it passes over
a thread unraveling into a tapestry lain across the earth
blistering heat reducing overgrowth
to ash and soil
leaving behind a new start
The other two pages in the envelope are a drawing of two dinosaurs and a drawing of some flowers in the field out by the valley. One’s for JJ, one’s for you. Obviously, you get the dinosaurs.
The flowers were pretty and made me think of you. I wanted to pick some for you but I don’t know if we’re there yet. If I’m overstepping just tell Robin and I’ll make sure to take a step back.
I don’t know how long it’ll take, but I feel like I’m working my way out of this grave I dug for myself. This time it feels like there is a little more light.  I still don’t sleep the whole night. I see him from time to time, but it’s not the same. He isn’t begging for me to save him. I’m not sure what that means yet, but I think it’s good.
Regards,
Ellie
Limitless - 2021 Pacific Crest Trail Ride Through
Tumblr media
3 days ago, on April 7th, Jess Goodlett started the ride of her dreams - a 2,650 mile ride of the entirety of the Pacific Crest Trail, border to border. She is attempting this ride alone, with two BLM mustangs she has trained herself. Jess is part of the Limitless team, a group of women going on various adventures to prove that the things women can accomplish in pursuit of their dreams are Limitless. This ride is fantastic, and Jess is still sourcing financial support. She has venmo, PayPal, and merch set up if you are interested in helping out!
This is similar in spirit to the idea of Unbranded, and Jess has been in contact with some of that team for advice.
Below I've shared a blog post she wrote discussing the trip and her plans! Under a readmore because it's LONG.
Time to Make this Official.
Tumblr media
Yes, the ride is on.
I am planning a thru-ride on the Pacific Crest Trail for 2021.
My name is Jess Goodlett. I am 25 years old, and I have been a part of Limitless since the beginning.
People seem to say that I am pretty outgoing and adventurous. When I set my mind on a goal, I definitely become very determined to make it happen. Most of my family and friends were not too surprised when I dropped the news that I was going to continue the plan to attempt a thru-ride on the Pacific Crest Trail. This trail has been on my mind for years, and it was actually how Limitless got its start.
My trail name is Raindance (this is how I got my trail name), and these are my BLM Mustangs, Makani (10-year-old bay roan mare) and Malana (7-year-old chestnut mare).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, here is little Zendaya. She is too young to join in on the fun next year, but maybe she will get the chance to tag along in the near future.
Tumblr media
📷Zendaya (Daya for short) is my youngest mustang. I hope that she will be able to join in our an adventure in a few years. She is only 3 right now, so she still has some growing to do.
Here [is a photo] of me from a few years back, when I was able to set foot on a small section of the Pacific Crest Trail. This is the moment that sparked up the passion for the trail again after dealing with nostalgia from the group’s ride on the Colorado Trail in 2017.
I had convinced my dad and uncle to drive a rental car up some narrow mountain roads just to be able to set foot on part of the Pacific Crest Trail near Big Bear Lake. It felt magical getting the chance to hike a very small section of the trail. It was like getting a small taste of a big dream. My time on the trail may have only lasted 30 minutes, but it made me realize that I was still very passionate about this trail even after my experience on the Colorado Trail.
Making Plans
The plans have gone back and forth a few times, but the goal is to set out on trail in the Spring of 2021. For me, there are a lot of emotions tied in with this thu-ride. I am sure there will be a lot of time for reflection on the days leading up to the trail, including each and every day spent out there with my horses.
This is a big trek. Every time I look at the maps, I feel excited. Maybe a little nervous. But I am focused on what is ahead. The days are flying by fast, and I know the day that I head out to California will be here sooner than I can even imagine. A lot of my time right now is being spent with the horses, and any additional free time goes toward researching the trail.
Let’s talk about the trail.
What is the Pacific Crest Trail?
Tumblr media
📷Map of the Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail is a border to border trail that starts at the Mexican border and travels through California, Oregon, and Washington to the Canadian border. The trail is 2,650 miles long, and it is open to both hikers and equestrians.
There are only a handful of completed equestrian thru-rides that are documented. I am sure there are a few more that have gone unmentioned online, but to be honest, it is much more likely for people to plan a thru-hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. Us thru-riders are very few.
For those who may not know, a thru-hike or thru-ride is a long distance trail that is completed in one go (typically one season) – from one end of the trail to other end. This differs from section hiking where one may just complete small sections of the trail instead of the entire length. Though, what a thru-hike or thru-ride is for one person may differ slightly for another. Sometimes trail conditions during a certain year results in hikers or riders having to alter the original path on the trail to detour things like a fire or trail closure. But this does not take away from the fact that the trail was completed if they reach the end. As they say, hike your own hike, or in this situation – ride your own ride.
On the note of section hiking and riding, the Pacific Crest Trail is also a very popular option for those looking to just complete certain sections. According to the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA), there are a total of 29 sections: 18 sections in California, 6 sections in Oregon, and 5 in Washington.
Elevation ranges greatly throughout the entire trail, along with a vast variety of terrain. The Pacific Crest Trail travels over many mountain passes and through many wilderness areas, national forests and parks.
More information can be found on the PCTA official website.
The Difficulties of Planning a Thru-Ride
Taking on a thru ride comes with a lot of its own types of challenges that hikers will not have to face. Adding in one or two horses on trail adds its own difficulty especially when it comes to the logistics.
As I am researching the trail, I am trying to answer questions such as: How are the water sources in this section? Where can I camp? Are there any grazing restrictions? Any trail concerns?
How will I resupply? Where are some places I may be able to pull the horses off trail to rest them? Who will be my emergency contacts? And the list goes on.
I cannot really plan too far ahead with any set plans, but one of my biggest obstacles will be the snow. Trail conditions can change daily, and I have no idea how the winter is going to look at this moment. Because of the length of the trail, some decisions will not be made until I am on trail. I expect many unplanned things to happen. That is just the way it is, and that is why the focus right now is to study and learn the trail as much as I can.
Tumblr media
Why the Pacific Crest Trail?
It was 2013 when I first heard about the Pacific Crest Trail. I was actually scrolling through Facebook when I came across a post in an equestrian Facebook group where a few people were talking about long distance trails. The main topic was riding horses from coast to coast ,but then the Pacific Crest Trail was brought up in the discussion. It was the first time I had heard of an established border to border trail. I was very interested and after a few quick searches online, I quickly became obsessed with this trail and the idea of completing a border to border trail horseback.
Though, I knew I was not ready at that time to take on such a big adventure. I kept the idea stored away in my mind. It would sneak back into my thoughts every so often. When it did, I would spend hours researching this trail and looking for any information I could find for equestrians. I told myself that one day… one day, I would ride the Pacific Crest Trail.
It wasn’t until 2015, when I decided to reach out to some people about the trail. I talked with Gillian Larson, who had completed the trail horseback in 2014. She has been a big inspiration to me and to many others. Over the years, she has now completed the Pacific Crest Trail two times horseback. She has also completed the 800 mile Arizona Trail, the 500 mile Colorado Trail, and the 3,100 mile Continental Divide Trail, which is another border to border trail. (Seriously, check out her Instagram. Her photos and videos of the trails are absolutely breathtaking!)
I also spoke with Ben Masters of Unbranded who encouraged me to get out and “just do it.”
This is when I started to think about friends who may be interested in riding with me. Initially, I reached out to Devan Horn about riding a border to border trail. Devan was the first person I ever thought of to even contact about a thru-ride. She is adventurous and possibly the only person I knew at the time who would have been up for such a challenge. I mentioned to her that I was interested specifically in riding the Pacific Crest Trail. We talked briefly about a long distance trek, and we told each other that we would keep in touch.
A few months passed, when Ragan Kelly reached out to me about a long distance trail. She had spoken with Devan who had mentioned my name to her. Ragan knew a few more people interested in a thru-ride, and that is how Limitless began.
Now, the Pacific Crest Trail is a much longer trail than what my friends and I rode in 2017 with the Colorado Trail. But as I mentioned, the Limitless team originally started with the goal of riding a border to border trail together.
Our exact plans were to ride a shorter trail, the Colorado Trail, in 2017. Then, we wanted to ride a border to border trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, in 2020. But since the start of Limitless in 2015, a lot of things have changed.
When we completed the Colorado Trail, we could all agree it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Out of the group, I was honestly one who did not see myself fully committing to another thru-ride anytime soon. My end of the ride on the Colorado Trail was not what I wanted. Also, what they do not warn you much about long distance trails is that life continues on in the “real world.”
Life. Work. School. Other hobbies and interests. New goals and new opportunities.
There was nothing negative that happened within the team. We are all really good friends and forever will be. I love each and every one of them wholeheartedly. Though, we do not get the chance to see each other often, we will forever hold onto the memories that we created together on the Colorado Trail.
So wait… you are doing this trek solo?
Yes, that is correct. Solo. I am riding the trail alone with my two horses.
I will be honest. This was never my plan. Originally, I was unsure of a solo trek. I did not want to ride this trail alone.
When plans for a 2021 trek started, this thru-ride was going to be made for two riders. But plans changed yet again, and I had to make a decision to either hold off riding the trail or to just go after my dreams.
I know the pros and cons of going by myself, and I know the pros and cons with riding with others. I have heard the recommendations. I have heard the concerns. And with that said, I will continue on with planning this trek solo. This will allow me to put all of my focus on my horses’ needs to get them safely through the trail.
Though, I do hope to have a few friends join in here and there for sections.
How long will this trail take?
This trail will approximately take five to six months to complete. The horses and I will average 20-25 miles per day. I am also factoring in plenty of rest days for the horses. We are starting early enough to get through the hotter, dryer Southern California sections, but we will very likely have to skip around and circle back to some parts of the trail because of snow. In order to complete the full trail in one season, we need to be done sometime in September before the snow starts back up in Washington.
So What is Next?
I have a little over half a year left to get ready for this trek. I am looking forward to sharing our progress leading up to the trail and sharing the adventures that are to come.
In a modern AU, what would be the perfect vacation/trip for the ROs to take? Asking for a friend...
👀👀👀👀
Blade: anywhere remote and not around lots of people. So a wooded cabin near a remote lake, a B&B in a small quaint town, or possibly a cottage on the beach... (maybe not the latter because he sunburns so easily and gets seasick...)
Trouble: I think he’d love to go anywhere adventurous and with activities (like sports or boating) and great food, or even on a road trip and camping; but possibly his favorite vacation would be going to a theme park like Disneyworld and just staying at a hotel there 😂
Tallys: definitely a family cabin in the deep forest or camping, where she’d know all the best hiking trails and could lay in a forest meadow watching the sunlight through the leaves or go kayaking on the lake! Visiting national parks like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone would be right up her alley, or even going up to places like Banff in Canada!
Shery: I think she’d love to go to some resort (doesn’t matter where it is, whether in the Sonoran desert or on the beach) where she could be pampered to her heart’s content, getting manicures and massages, ordering room service, and just being taken care of!
Riel: some place with lots of culture so a Paris or a New York, with lots of museums and galleries and shows to attend! And of course, lots of high-class food! I can totally see him retiring to the French countryside to quaint little towns like in Avignon too, and having fresh croissants and very black coffee while he read Le Monde!
Chase: I think he’d want all the bustle of a big city with the foreign sights and experiences of somewhere afar, probably in Asia! Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Bangkok all come to mind for him!
Red: I think he’d love to go to a college town like Philadelphia or Boston or even Seattle or Portland, where he could meet new people and learn new things and like, suddenly stumble upon a poetry reading session in a coffee shop or a black-and-white film festival that he could just go to at his leisure!
Ayla: I think she’d want to backpack and tour across many different countries, like starting in Africa and trekking all up through Europe and ending in Nepal! She’d want to see as many different animals as she could, though, so she’d probably on a safari!
Briony: I think she’d want to go to some tropical island or country where you could mostly laze around, but also have lots to do, combining beach with other activities! Costa Rica or Hawaii, horseback riding, ziplines, and exploring the rainforest or a volcano while having a day at the beach to unwind comes to mind!
Lavinet: she’d go wherever the glamour was, so LA, Milan, Ibiza, Monaco, St. Tropez, Santorini... and especially the cities where she could 1) do TONS of shopping and retail therapy and 2) club her heart out in the evenings! She’d be a modern jetsetter for sure!
