So I watched “Speak No Evil”, the remake starring James McAvoy. I’ll do a proper review later after I get back from work. For now, I’ll say that while watching the movie, it bugged me that James McAvoy’s performance reminded me of someone/something, but I couldn’t place what it was. After the movie ended, I realized what he was trying to do.
“Speak No Evil” asks the question…what if an Internet alpha male troll (like Andrew Tate, Logan Paul, or several UFC fighters) was a slasher movie villain?

MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D (2009)
Tumblr media
Usually, I don't tend to watch re makes of horror movies, especially when it comes to classics like My Bloody Valentine, just because they never seem to deliver on the same level as the originals. This remake, however, made the original look weak. I love how it took the classic and the characters involved and gave it a fresh spin. The characters have much more substance to them in regard to personality and motives. The plot twist in this film is way harder to pick up on than the original and makes the film much more intense. In true remake fashion, everything is amped up to 10, but it's done in a way that feels right and not too flashy. There's a lot more blood and gore in this installment. I loved that they kept the dryer kill but reimagined it in a way that fits this version of the story. Let's be honest. That was an iconic kill.

After watching The Ring and The Ring 2 (American version) and the relationship between Aidan and Samara is still so weird.
She doesn’t hate him. He doesn’t hate her. They low-key respect each other as weirdo psychic kids.
But in Ring 2 she’s still all: “Kid, I am taking over your life.”
Then even Aidan says to Rachel after she has possessed him: “She just tells me to go to sleep.”
Samara, for everything she has done, doesn’t want him to suffer.
