I was hoping to request the casual Enemies/Rivals to Lovers with Leona and the reader(s/o)who’s always loud mouthed and rowdy with students but a teachers pet/obedient student to the staff members, but once Leona starts to get to know the reader(s/o) they start to bond and finally sees that the reader is actually more sensitive than they expected(aka the reader now gives their trust to Leona and demands affection bc they lacked affection from where they were from)

Warnings: None that i can think off

Leona 

-Leona hated you when you first met. You weren't exactly the most quiet student, at least when teachers aren't around, and he couldn't seem to intimidate you with a fight either. Or in short, you were a disturbance to his naps, and hard to get rid off.

-He quickly realized, that he can't even sent his fan club dorm members after you, as they, just like most student, were scared of you. You pack a punch, and they couldn't even tell the teachers, because they believed you to be a sweet angel

-It annoyed him, how you were seemingly the perfect mixture of streets and book smarts, how you'd go from beating someone up, to acting like your helping them the moment a teacher shows up, and how the teachers buy it every time. 

-To put it simply; He despises you.

-At least he did, till he was forced to go to class one day for whatever reason, and the two of you get paired. He is more than willing to just completely ignore the project, you, on the other hand, have a reputation to uphold with the teachers.

-So, you being you, find him and bother him till he complies!

-For the sake of eventually getting a proper nap, he complies, but does as little as he possibly could. Not to mention the constant fights, and back-and-forth insults between you

-Yet over time, the two of you get more comfortable with each other. The fights slowly but surely become less, and turn into more of bickering, and the insults become less mean as well, as the two of you slowly fall into a routine.

-Although he hasn't realized it yet, not that he'd admit it even if he did, he is starting to get used to you; Starting to like you, even.

-It is after the project is over (you getting an A and Leona a C, because it is very obvious you did most of the work) that the two of you realize just how used how used you have gotten to each other. He finds it almost hard to sleep without your scolding now, and it feels weird for you to no longer constantly have someone to bicker with

-So, the next time you see him, most likely in the botanical garden, you just kinda plop down next to him. And he isn't completely sure why, but he just lets you.

-eventually the two of you end up talking. A lot. It doesn't take long before the two of you start laughing and telling Storys (Although his casual laugh is more of a chuckle in my opinion)

-Your hangouts become routine, with you seeking him out between classes, and him becoming less and less willing to let you go back to classes, silently loving the affection you give him.

-As you two get closer, he gets to know your more sensitive side, and he can't say he minds, as you cuddle into his side, laying an arm around you with a faked huff, because as much as he hates to admit it, he's touch starved too

-You become a place of comfort for each other, he is finally the first choice for someone, and you finally have someone who you can be sensitive with, without worry of being judged

-Or, at least not judged by Leona- Ruggie is very much annoyed that Leona is now also making him run around to get stuff for you too, so expect a side comment or two from him! Nothing a mean scowl from Leona, as he pulls you further into his arms can't solve though ;D

seen some people say that after missy's complex arc, dhawan!master's motivation/cruelty feels a little shallow, but i liked it, bc it mirrowed 13th's personality

after what happened with clara, bill and river, 13th ran away from the past more so than the former doctors did. while the others weren't super open, they didn't completely shy away from questions from the companions, and would even give out information unprompted. but not 13th. she refused to answer any questions about her past, refused to let her companions get too involved, bc clara bill and river were the ones who learned the most about him and they had horrible endings, so by withholding information she was protecting them.

but to shut out the past like that she had to shut out her emotions about the past as well. thats why she was so cheery and joyfull. sure, part of it was due to 12th's wish to what kind of person he wanted to be in this next regeneration (laugh hard, run fast, be kind), but another part was just 13th supressing her sadness and trauma as hard as she could, "fake it 'till you make it"

and dhawan!master reflects that. as missy she tried really hard to change, she really had hope of quieting the anger, the drums (that even if they are not there anymore the memory of them will always echo in her head), and she almost made it. but then she was stopped, by herself to make matters worse. and then she died. and regenerated. and after that he thought "well, i tried and look how it ended. its best to just stick to what i know",and he went home, to gallifrey, to snoop around their dirty secrets (their failures) to distract himself from his own. and he discovered the worst possible thing. and that was too much, too soon. so he resorted to the one dimensional "evil for evil's sake" persona. because its easier to just unleash indiscriminated anger and cruelty than to face the vulnerable hurt part of himself.

but the thing is, it can't last forever. not 13th's forced positivity and not the master's forced gleefull madness. and of course, it would fall apart when they faced each other. the master tried to keep up his uncaring mask, but once he started talking he couldn't not be vulnerable with her. and the doctor tried to treat him like she would any other enemy/villain of the week, but when she argued with him she couldn't not take it seriously. because before they were enemies they were best friends. they know each others souls better than anyone else. and they just can't pretend that in their hearts there isn't a part that still bleeds for what they had, what they were.

so, yeah, this is my way of saying i love 13th and dhawan!master and the way their characters were written (even if i dont love the general writing of 13th's seasons)

Okay so. I'm like, 99% done with V3 and I realized I've barely shared like any of my thoughts here so. SPOILERS AHEAD

-The fact that Ryoma wanted to die and was fighting to find something to live for only to find out that he had NOTHING...that shit was sad bro

-Was NOT expecting Kirumi at all but in retrospect it's the least suspicious ones that you should be the most suspicious of. Also her execution was p brutal

-ANGIE WITH THE CULT...the fact that she managed to brainwash half the group had me terrified. Also her Atua worshipping got real old real fast. I hate religious cults lmao I was literally sitting there like "I REALLY hope she's the one to die this chapter" bc if I had to read one more sentence of her being like "Atua will save us all <3" I WOULD have gone to play in traffic.

-Angie needed to go but TENKO 😭 She was just a hopeless lesbian in love with Himiko she did not deserve what happened to her

regarding the sagau post, i was wondering what route that could go on because being unable to change parts of the story would make them want to rip their hair out.

imagine: dreading going to inazuma after finishing your talk with zhongli, and generally everything that goes down there. wanting, praying, begging to whoever sent you here that at least something changes and it isn't an entire drag to go through.

getting to sumeru and hoping that you can somehow free nahida faster and not letting her rot inside the sanctuary of surasthana for any longer than a second (i personally imagine reader wanting to smack the hell out of alhaitham bc i wanted to while playing sumeru DFABWEGSD)

these are just a couple thoughts i had though!! just some thoughts

OH YEAH OKAY,, YEAH DEFINITELY!! Reader would definitely want to rip out their hair from the frustration because it is SO EASY to not mess up... from a player's perspective.

This is SO orv-esque.

But I'm sure with Reader as an additional character (that has not been determined by the game itself), there are some parts of the game that is changeable. Like maybe fights, wars.. the outcomes would be different with an extra person.

Zhongli still fakes his death, and the Traveler still has to defeat Childe. You still fight the war between the Resistance and the Shogun Army, but maybe Teppei doesn't have to die. Because you knew about the Delusions before he did. You hastily grabbed it from his person with such a scowl and threw it into the blue — watching it sink into the depths as Teppei cried out.

The samsara still happens in Sumeru, but you know how to break free from the first time. You couldn't say the same for the Traveler, even though they're the main character and they're equally as smart — perks of being a player. They asked you how you knew this was a repeat, even though they did not go through multiple cycles just yet, but you find yourself at a standstill.

I am so curious as to what you'd think about Nina and Hoodie as a duo. They've been two of my absolute favorites (even if Brian technically isn't even a creepypasta) since I was younger and I've always loved them as a sort of big brother/little sister pairing. brian isnt very present in my story, partially bc ik some mh fans dont like the crossover very much. and by time ninas in the story, i want him+tim to kinda separate from slenderman as toby and kate take over. he's still involved and coming around since he gets horrible slender sickness(but its from the operator) if he's away too long, but he doesn't live near or befriend most of the main cast..

nina is very present in my story because i love her and she is such a good and fun representation of the fandom yk. but brian is much more realistic and late 30s man, while nina is a very cartoonish early 20s girl. theyre on very different fields character and life wise...

BUUUUUUUUUT they would still meet of course.

she'd be bubbling around the entire cast, meeting people through jeff. people initially think she's in the same vein as jeff, natalie, and toby, with a LONG list of blood on their hands influenced by the operator, so they just don't think much about it. theyre mostly surprised by how cheery she is, but the proxies are the first to find out she's just... obsessed with jeff..... so thats very off putting. brian isn't fond of it.

nina would develop some light slender sickness(again, from the operator) just by being around jeff all the time, but the operator never infected her because he didn't see her as a worthy vessel. so, she would have to come to the proxies about it. if toby isnt in the mood or busy, she'd just have to hope brian/tim are around with some pills that'll soothe the pain

brian is more likely to help. with nina, he'd be quick to take on a more protective role, trying to console her as she cries on the couch holding her head whining about static.

initial convos would go smth along the lines of "do you want some coffee ? or uh kids like hot chocolate huh... maybe tea" "i'm literally in my 20s please tell me toby has weed somewhere" "that does not help with this pain i promise" "how would you know" "haha. water it is."

brian was a major stoner back in his early 20s and nina thinks its fucking hilarious. . . she'll try to get him to smoke with her but he's rlly not interested LOLLLL.... hes like 15 yrs older than her he thinks its weird .

again, he's not around a lot, but she's always happy to bump into him. she'd be squealing n shit 'HIII BRIANNNN how r u :3' and he'd just be like :) hey nina. and then never answer the 'how r u' bc he doesnt actually wanna sit and talk .

its a good change of pace. he's been through hell and back for well over a decade by this point, everyone around him is a sad sack of shit, and he spent a long time just. fighting to be an optimistic, cool guy to hang around . . but .... like.... um..... its hard to be that kind of person after all he's been thru. something about nina just forces that sort of like..... glee out of him . its not a huge difference where he's suddenly bouncing and giggling and whatever, he's still just Some Guy. but he'll be like :) lol .

mayhaps he'd catch her trying on toby's goggles and he'd offer to let her try on his mask. but nina would fake gag and be like 'no i dont want that dirty musty nasty sack on my head' and he'd be like ?????. then he'd say she can wash it and then try it on. which.. as an older sibling.... is the type of shit i'd do just to get my sister to do smth for me that i dont wanna do LMFAOOO. she might fall for it just cuz my dear nina is the ultimate fangirl

i dunno i kinda struggled with this one just cuz in my au, they wouldnt be all that close and the Type of characters they are don't mesh very well, but i am super fond of the concept and would love to try expanding on it more

Finished chapter 4 for besties and it was easier making it (hahaha let's ignore the grammar) but making Yumi rejecting her lifelong dream of Endy magically became better is powerful. Why? If am is a bad father...what's the point?

I kind feel she would be sort of an am hater and would brew some resement towards heroes, maybe not all. But a good number of them.

(I feel the line "heroes only hurt their families" that stans swear is deep, IS NOT, WORKS much better with Yumi. Hell, could see she looking a bit more on Stain. Yes, he is a serial killer but the idea heroes aren't perfect will finally kick in)

(I felt bad for Yumi...her family is always messed up. She tried so hard but you can't fix this! Which sort paralels with Izumi.)

And god...Izumi is not used to be treated decently...or maybe even the decency is seen as smth outwardly...no one in A1 cares but B1 is noticing. Vlad takes one look at her and can sense smth is off....why? Bc her trauma is visible (her abuser also isn't smart)

My question here is: how else should have a different view on heroes? Yumi is in the list, Izumi is on the list as well...but who else?

I like the idea you have of making fuyumi reject and put down her life-long dream of having a perfect family, but why would she do it? For me, it's quite hard to believe that just because she thinks that all might is an abusive and bad father to izumi, she would ditch her dream just like that. I would agree and say that all might turning out to be a bad father could be a catalyst and could contribute to her ditching that life-long dream she had, but I don't think she would just ditch the dream like that.

Fuyumi's desire for a functional and loving family affects her character all around. The reason she has such a dream isn't just because of the human desire to be loved by both parents but also the desire for both normality and conformity. Fuyumi doesn't want to be anything special. She is happy to fit in, to have what every other average character should have. She wants love, she wants care and she wants a family. Yes, she has family members that she very much loves and is close to like natsou, but her desire isn't just for family but for conformity and normality. Her dream is your basic overglorifed nuclear family, and that's exactly what she kept up the outside image as for decades.

Fuyumi (not as much as her other family members) does probably glorify all Might. She, within her wish and desire for normality and conformity, adapts to be likeable and to share the same opinions as the general public. Due to this desire and fake image that she has intraculety crafted for this amazing outside persona, a part of it seeps to her true self. This includes her admiration for all might. She believes that he is what's good with society. To her, there is that devil of a father and an angle of society carrying and promising good for all. Yes, this would have dimmed over the years as she is stripped of her naivety little by little. Little by little hope and optimism in being magically saved by the man who promises comfort for all drizzles down the drain. Yet even now, when she is all fully grown, a part of her subconsciously clings to that fairytale dream all of that until the all might incident/scandal when All Might is revealed to be a bad father.

Like I said, all mights reveal is a catalyst for fuyumi. It sends her spiralling. She knows that people aren't who they seem to be, heck she isn't who she pretends to be, her father is the devil in disguise and as a teacher she has been trained and quickly learnt the quick disguses and images that parents put up to paint themselves as perfect along with their children. She has seen it all, she already knows it all so why is she so disappointed?

She has read various psychology books, and she has a degree in education where she has minored in psychology, yet she is left hollow, numb. The incident sends her digging and digging she does. It seems like she can't escape it every turn she sees an article of the incident or of another hero being outed out for being an abuser a monster in disguise. These are the people that she was taught to trust. People like her father devil's cosplaying angels. First, it's Endeavour, her father. Second, it's all Might. Third, it's another hero and then another and another all until they become numbers on a page, and it drives fuyumi nuts.

It's a ticking slow and painful realisation, but "all heroes do is hurt their family.'

They aren't worthy of being heroes. Digging and digging, she finds a certain someone who shares her views, a vigilante serial killer arrested a while back by enji: Stain, the hero killer.

A part of her agrees with Stain (parallel with dabi) she believes that he has information that he knows which heroes are good and bad, so she looks at his kills and sees if it adds up. She finds varying results some good some bad. Yet she clings to hope (well, until she meets dabi and he breaks the news to her) or when shoto tells her about what Stain did to him and his friends.

All of this build up, fuyumi feels like she is going to explode so she opens up to natsou who reveals to her that he was also involved in the situation and tells her his prespective which for matter could solidify her reasoning or not.

Days pass, and natsou like her is still in disbelief. The abuse comparisons between all Might and enji don't fall on death ears but further reinforce fuyumi's spiralling.

"Heroes only hurt their families." It's true she has seen it. She has lived it, and she has experienced it.

All of this bitter boiling anger leads to her slowly becoming detached from that dream of hers as she would rather live with natosu, shoto, and her mother then have that monster be apart of her family.

Maybe during her spiral fuyumi could think of wanting to kill enji which would parallel with dabi and izumi.

Saw the trailer for the new The Crow movie with Bill Skarsgård and...

Well, it looks cool and fun at least, so I'll definitely sit my ass at the movie theater for the first time since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever came out, but I can't help to feel like making it a "remake" of the original 1994 film (bless Brandon Lee and may he rest forever in peace) with some MASSIVE changes (RIP to my girl Sarah and Cool Dad Sgt. Albrecht, they deserved better) was a bit of a missed opportunity? Because look, it's like this

say whatever you will about the quality of the sequels, and whether you liked them or hated them is entirely your business and valid either way. I mean, I only watched City of Angels once and barely remember it, it was that good. Never managed to catch Salvation (read the plot) and watched Wicked Prayer a couple of times (David Boreanaz and Danny Trejo were in that movie, HAH!) and I'm basically neutral about it because THAT was practically a remake of the original but in a different setting with different characters, the plot beats were the a carbon copy.

In summary, the tradition with this unloved obscure franchise is that with every movie, the story changes. You have a new cast, a new city, new villains, and the only constant is that someone is brutally murdered along with a loved one, and their soul can't rest, so the crow that carries them to the next life allows them to come back to right the wrongs before moving on. And independently of how successful the storytelling was, they at least tried to do something different each time (except for Wicked Prayer): City of Angels was about a father being brought back to avenge the murder of his son and Salvation was about a guy being wrongly accused of the murder of his girlfriend and coming back from being executed to solve the mystery of her death and avenge himself and her. And this new film is just--

Oh we have two cishet people who are in love and get murdered and they're both just called Eric and Shelly and this isn't supposed to be a reboot, it's just the same plot as the '94 movie and the main characters are different people but have the same names as the two lovers from the original and we're gonna ramp up the supernatural element even though knowing so little about it is what made the original so mysterious and tight in its themes and instead of our titular Crow looking like "a Nine Inch Nails member" he'll look "like a rapper on SoundCloud" (quoted from a great YT comment btw). Oh and Eric and Shelly are delinquents so we can toss some poorly construed redemption arc, just to spice things up a little.

Ever since the rumors of a new Crow movie started traveling around the internet, I was hoping they would really try and make something interesting with it because this is a kind of universe (I hate that term, fucking Marvel) where there's strict rules, true, but within its boundaries you can get really creative! Like why not have a female Crow, for a change? It's always been a male playing the part! Why not an LGBTQ+ Crow, like hear me out:

how about a lesbian couple who were super in love and happy but got murdered by homophobes one night so one of them is brought back to exact vengeance so brutal, vicious and graphic even the devil would get chills (and the anti-LGBTQ+ fake fans in the audience would shit their pants)?

And I didn't have to think too hard about that one! It's basically the original plot but with lesbians! You get a female Crow AND a LGBTQ+ Crow in the same film!!

And it doesn't have to be about lovers being murdered either, like I said City of Angels was about a father and his son, in Salvation the guy got wrongly executed for the murder of his gf, why not have a daughter coming back to avenge her mother? Why not a friend coming back bc they can't rest after they and their BFF were gunned down? Why can't it be total strangers who hit it off after meeting for five minutes and have a "wrong place, wrong time" scenario going on??? How much better would that be?

So many possibilities, but nooooooo, we gotta go with the tired Sad White Boy (no shade on Bill Skarsgård) loses his One True (Straight) Love plot and he has to be conventionally attractive (and get jacked up when he's brought back bc yeah, I mean in the original Lee's character looked exactly the same pre and pos resurrection, his only superpower was that he couldn't be killed but whatever) and look badass while killing all the bad guys. BORING. Oh and 2024's Shelly is a black woman who gets murdered, don't think I didn't notice that casual racism.

Since we're on that note, why not have a black Crow???? Or a Mexican Crow??????? I realize that in Wicked Prayer Jimmy Cuervo maybe was supposed to be Mexican, but he was still a white man (with Mexican heritage, I'll give it that) so we're back to the same white-people only club! I realize there are white Mexicans, but that's not the point, the point is to give brown skinned people the chance to play a main role where they get to be badass too! Just..... AHHHH.

Listen. Anyone who truly knows me is aware I'm a big romantic bimbo. I LOVE a good love story that ends in tragedy or in bittersweet terms bc the couple are so in love and true love never dies (see what I did there, fellow Crow fans?). But nothing is gonna beat Brandon Lee's movie in that sense, that's why I love it. What buggers me the most is that, from what I've been told, the director and writers wanted to make an adaptation more faithful to the graphic novel (which I have not read YET! I recommend Into The Depths video if you wanna know more about the author James O'Barr and his story, which is a very sad one indeed) that started it all, and yet it doesn't look like it will be any more faithful to said graphic novel than the '94 movie! Like, if you're gonna bullshit about it, at least make up a better excuse.

Hhhhhhhhhh. Hollywood's gonna Hollywood, right? Joke's on me expecting better.

TL:DR The Crow (2024) is trying to be a remake of The Crow (1994) when we already have a remake (The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2000)) instead of trying to make something new and it's silly, but I will still go watch it bc at least it looks fun to look at. Doberman, is here to get the ideas of PUNISHING FAILURE and ELDER POWER into our heads, so that the more important event that comes in a few pages isn't completely out of nowhere. It's micro-foreshadowing! It's subtle enough that your mind is primed for the next development without being alerted into expecting it. AND FUCK WAS I NOT EXPECTING IT

Plus, the vice-admirals must surely have less faith in their exalted leaders, after Doberman's maybe death, and witnessing one dying from a Faustian bargain gone fucked up. This plus Akainu's frustrations with the Celestial Dragons... I think patience with World Nobles will soon reach its limit...

and FIGARLAND FUCKING GARLING!!! This makes his late-game intro make so much more sense now, if he was going to be this big a player in due time. Even the knowledge that a character exists can lead to speculation, and this fandom can be clever indeed. Saving Garling only for when necessary made this twist hit as hard as it did... Oda fucking blindsided us babes. Kudos.

They left out the skull calling for his master and getting snubbed which I feel like was pretty significant but they left almost all his other stuff out too so. Rip again skull in a jar, they cut all your best lines, none of which sounded like anything a kid from the 1860s would say. He would've loved the Mercymorn speech

this is all so on point honestly! what you said about being in character...i dont know these people at all and completely made this read up, but that's 100% what this fic is getting at?? they grew up racing and giving interviews and crashing out and they can be really rational about all of that because its just in their nature. they can sacrifice whatever they need to and behave however they need to for their teams and their success, and they don't question it because it's just who they are. in a way there's even solace in recognizing that it's a trait they share and they're not alone in it. theyre like the scorpion and the frog except they're both the scorpion which is an idea that keeps me up at night because not to be fake deep and pretentious but i feel like scorpions probably have a very different understanding of that story than frogs do. i might be insane

ANYWAY what that all means is it's really new to build something together that's just for them and that isn't about racing or expectations or even about gender roles, it's about love and honesty and trust. it's really new and scary but it's also really freeing. dont ask me how the a/b/o porny fic became about that, but the whole point of it is them finding new ways to see themselves based on the stability they've found with each other. or something. and that's why max is protective of their real actual vulnerabilities and why both of them kind of treat il predestinato/the inevitable mythos as a fun story but ultimately not a very serious one

Oh, lord, don't even get me started on the whole Luca thing. It made literally no sense and they went against so many things they established in canon in earlier seasons.

The biggest part of SWAT's story was Luca/Street bromance. They literally lived together for better part of the show, had a really sweet brotherly dynamic, always there for each other no matter what. You know what we got from the hospital scene? Nothing. Not even so much of a word about where Street was, maybe an excuse why he couldn't make it which while it still would've been lazy writing, it would mean they at least considered the relationships and important people in Luca's life. Which they obviously didn't. Same goes for Chris. Like, we had newer people there waiting in the hospital, but not the likes of Mumford, Rocker, Stevens, other men Luca's been serving with for SO long! Also, no mention of his dad, mom, sister, brother. Nothing!!

I mean I have grievences with how he got shot too bc I feel like it was a cheap cop out for writing out his character in a way that would least anger the public while still somewhat making sense storywise. But, come on... He has been on SWAT for how long? And you're telling me he'd be reckless enough to risk his life going after three heavily armed suspects without backup, gear, anything WITH KELLY right there???

And then the whole thing post-hospital is also a huge question mark. The pacing was so weird, the dialogue felt off... Then his last call and some of the most important people in his career and life are once again missing (I mean, really, not even a cameo?!).

All in all, so many weird decisions and once again, so many better ways they could've gone about this if they had just considered the season as a whole rather than ep by ep. Because that's what this season feels like - bunch of standalone eps tied in together with a paper clip. A plastic one, at that.

I hope they get better writers for s8 or at the very least the ones that don't seem to hate the show and characters with burning passion bc this is 🥴🥴🥴 And much hate to whoever okayed promoting this season with Alex and Kenny being credited as "recurring" instead of what it really was "guest starring". For s8 celebration we should get them a dictionary and circle those words so that they can learn what they mean since they clearly don't.

Of all the things they could have done for Luca's send-off, they chose that half-baked, poorly written, hot mess of a story??? WHY? And we know Alex was on set for other episodes, so they seriously have no excuse for leaving Street out of his best friend's ending!!!

Did they think that the fans would just ignore the fact that Luca acted completely out of character in the situation leading to the shooting, and that all of his closest friends and comrades weren't there for him? I mean, I know they hate us and him (clearly), but apparently they also take us for fools. You're spot-on in saying that they didn't put any effort into writing his final episodes; in a season of exposition explanations, we didn't even get one for Luca!!

The pacing and the dialogue is what I've heard the most complaints about! "A bunch of standalone eps tied in together with a paper clip. A plastic one, at that" is the most perfect description!!! Even just reading the synopsis of each episode, I've been wondering if the episodes were coherent or connected in any way, like a television series should be, and it sounds like they're not. Since the season was shorter after the un-cancellation, I think they just threw a bunch of ideas into a hat and pulled one for each episode rather than trying to create an underlying thread that could run through all 13 episodes.

Okay, the situation isn't funny, but your last line made me laugh so hard!! One of my favorite things (for some reason) is come up with fake dialogue for the S.W.A.T. writers - what I think they say at the writing table, so I can whole-heartedly agree with your idea to get them and the marketing people a dictionary and explain the difference between "recurring" and "guest starring"! Like you said, getting new writers seems like the only hope for the show. If the show reads a bit different, that would honestly be fine, as long as the writers treated the characters like they deserve and create a show again, not a mod-podged pile of underdeveloped scenes that ignore everything previous seasons have established!

"Hey, guys, what if we take a beloved character, shoot him in front of Kelly because he ran in without thought, and then just rush through his recovery to send him off into the sunset?" In my mind, the S.W.A.T. writers sound like the pilots from the first scene in the Lego Batman Movie.

started off as a one shot (5 times you can't escape the memory of your ex, sae, + the 1 time he comes back) but while writing it, i realized that the reunion between the two of you opened the doors to a lot more possibilities. originally, i just wanted to have it leave off at him on your doorstep whenever he decided to stay in japan bc he heard of blue lock and wanted to stick around & since he was in the area, he would find himself coming back to you. (he breaks up with you before high school graduation when he decides to go to spain). however, that scene spiraled into you & him reconciling, and eventually, there was an open sort of ending where sae decides that maybe the two of you do have a fighting chance of working out.

HOWEVER, i wanted to explore this dynamic even deeper, so the fic kind of spirals away from the canon timeline + i'm introducing a timeskip. you & sae have this weird ass long distance situationship where the distance feels like too much of an obstacle to overcome, the two of you are always on the brink of a "break up", he ends up visiting, the two of you kiss & make up and have renewed hope that this shitshow of a relationship can still work, and it's just an endless, toxic cycle, really. there's genuine love, but he's too in his head & in an entirely different country — world, really — from you, and things are hard and he's shitty at feelings. at this point, sae is 20 & making his debut into the world of professional international football.

on the same day he's about to sign with a great team, he receives a phone call from you.

you're pregnant.

he hangs up without a word. (asshole behavior but seems p in theme with what we're shown so far abt him)

the next part following that is another timeskip. this time, sae is 27 and moving back home to japan. he's in the middle of recovering from an injury, one so bad that he will never be able to play soccer again, especially at the level he was it. now he's back home, licking his wounds, and having to face everything he's spent so hard trying to run away from.

i think this fic is my first attempt at redeeming a character; i know we don't know much abt sae or his internal thoughts + intentions, but i'm having fun with fleshing him out as a flawed person who actually had good intentions. he fucked up, majorly, and reader isn't keen on taking him back. you're colder to him than you ever were, and you barely want anything to do with him. swapping the dynamic on him is also really fun to do as a writer; sae goes from the one who's out of reach and reader is the one chasing after him but now, reader is the person out of reach & sae is the one doing the chasing.
