Idk how much you're ok with me adding to your post, and this isn't perhaps fully on topic, but I have one singular thought in response to this that mainly consists of why they don't trust Wild.

It's because he gets so many injuries I think

Legend perhaps isn't too bad overall in his actions towards Wild- I mean Wild is the one he chose to go with when the group split the first time (at the beginning of the divine dark reflections arc- I mean they argued but they still chose to go together right?) Mainly it's just that Legend can be a bit rude to everyone. But here's this-

'He's not hurt again is he?' *zooms in on the word again*

It seems like it's a normal event for the Wild child to get injured.

So basically my thought is this: the others don't view Wild as stupid- they don't see him as an idiot who they need to tie down before he does something idiotic- no, they see him as a hero who gets hurt... a lot. like a lot. And yeah he and Wars are a mess lol

If you care about someone, you don't want them to get hurt. If you see someone getting hurt a lot, you want to keep better track of them to make sure they're safe.

The others do their best, and I think it'd be hard to know how to handle this guy who you care about who is totally chill with jumping off a cliff at any time. In fact, didn't he suggest he climb down a cliff alone as the immediate solution to following the shadow?

Honestly that scene (in the shadow pt. 4 btw) is kind of funny to me with this dynamic-

I love Wild, and it's a big part of his character that he is so creative and stuff- but what else could they do other than shoot down his idea when it consisted of scaling down a freaking cliff alone over a bloodthirsty monster you don't know much about- it was just a really bad idea of his ok.

I think it's hard for many to not be defensive of Wild right now (most recent update is Central Room pt.4), because of all the drama with whatever is going on with him and Wars, everyone, etc.

But I love them :) I love that their concern is quite legitimate- that they have reasons to see Wild and perhaps treat him a bit differently.

hello lu fandom i have started falling back into lu and i have thoughts on wild again

anyways i think that there are a few members of the chain that don't trust wild or give him the ability to demonstrate his own abilities. and i imagine it would be frustrating for wild to constantly be held at arm's length or constantly be yelled at for doing things incorrectly. legend, time, and warriors are the worst for this.

this post by @luna-loveboop (sorry for the tag!) discusses how warriors tends to view wild and how wild acts in response to that. wars has been shown to hold wild to the standard of one of his soldiers, which is not something he does with any of the other links. in turn, wild doesn't really know how to act around or talk to warriors. legend (although he has been shown to joke around with wild from time to time) doesn't seem like he really likes wild much, let alone trusts him. leg's always calling wild things like "crazy" and insinuating that wild is too uncivilized and routinely nitpicks the way he does things. time, right now, is just on edge so he's more of a hardass than usual. he and wild tend to get along well, but i personally tend to headcanon that there's still a lack of trust in there.

i think it can be insulting to wild when he's a hero in his own right, who woke up with nothing one day and was told to save the world. yes, his methods are different from a lot of the others' methods but that's the nature of his game(s). i think the way that legend and warriors routinely treat wild is the most telling and the most likely to cause issues. wild hasn't said anything about this yet. either he doesn't want to cause a problem or he just hasn't noticed.

It's! It's the same thing! In the comic! He's doing it now- that crucial moment that makes a cutscene every time he enters a dungeon in game. With a set face he's steels himself and walks in.

It generally shows a lot about how he's feeling in that journey. It's where he readies himself for the challenge ahead- even if not going to fight something immediately, he centers himself before starting a dungeon.

In the Skyview temple he's new to this, but determined. Heading into the Ancient cistern he's mad and ready to fight. As for the Fire sanctuary, he's so very tired. Going into the Sky keep he's literally praying.

The progression of the dungeon entrances through Skyward Sword have always blown my mind. Sky is expressive, and it's pretty indicative of his mental state throughout- how he approaches a dungeon matters. And as for this one coming up?

I'd say he's determined. ...and also a little angry.. He's mad and determined.

But this stands out in every way from the ones in his game. In his original journey, he was always so worried, facing it with turmoil and emotion. But in Lu it's different.

Lu is different because this time he's not alone.

Finally at the landsmeet, hope i can finally find out what makes ppl defend Loghain as a character, beyond what ive seen in cutscenes and Anora talking about him.

He’s interesting, i sort of get why he’s compelling story wise. But. Why do people defend him. I am curious.

I just saw the excellent post about Chuuya's loyalty and 1) how he hasn't questioned his philosophy and 2) "In a world where a "path" typically involves challenging the characters' philosophies and forcing them to reevaluate, what the hell is going to have to happen to get Chuuya to do the same?" (quoting you)

Chuuya is always used by others. He's not the only BSD character whose been taken advantage of, but it does seem to be reoccurring with him? First by the government who intended to use him as a super weapon, then by the Sheep who used him for his ability, then by mafia/Mori (getting him to join in exchange for sparing the sheep, keeping his past from him and giving him incentive to become an executive and stay in the organization). He's constantly used for his power.

Please tell me if I'm misinterpreting what you all said, but it seems (to me) that Chuuya ignores the mafia's/Mori's manipulation because they have helped him and given him a home+family, so he's instead loyal to them.

Because even though Mori has not and is using him for his power, he still allows it/goes along with it because they've helped him in the past and earned his loyalty.

So Chuuya tolerates being used.

He's now being used again, obviously, in part, because of his power. We have Fyodor referring to him as just his ability and bragging about how he can "use" him better than Dazai ("doesn't that mean you're unfit to USE a gravity manipulator")

Do you think it's possible that just being vamped and used again will cause him to reflect on his mentality? He's once again being used (but be it in far more blatant way: literal mind control. Also reminds me of Verlaine+his creator). Reflecting on how he's been used in the past and no longer accepting being used by others anymore?

Or do you think it might have the opposite affect and push him deeper into the mafia somehow

Also it's interesting that Fyodor is using him but hasn't earned his loyalty (like the sheep+mafia) and how that'll affect Chuuya

I'll get to the second ask in a bit but I'm combining these because they're related.

About the first ask: I mean, yeah, you're right about this. I don't know that I'd consider it so much "ignoring" though as "the benefits outweigh the costs so whatever", and I do want to state that I'm pretty sure Mori is genuinely at least a little fond of Chuuya (see: their conversation about leadership at the end of Fifteen), and his Mafia colleagues do respect him.

But yeah, you are absolutely right to say that there is a pattern of people who want Chuuya for his ability and his loyalty, and/or reduced him down to these traits. Playing hot potato with the escaped military lab experiment and the Mafia won (<-simplification for the funnies but still).

But here's the thing: if this was the end of it, we might expect to see some resentment mixed in there from Chuuya. He was blackmailed with the Sheep's lives. His past was intentionally locked away from him until he worked his way up to executive. That's... not great.

But instead we find pretty much only gratitude from him. Why?

Well, see, there's a reason I put the return of Chuuya's screwed up self-concept in the tags on that post, because it's kind of at the heart of his impressive loyalty. Chuuya believes that since he is the one with the strongest power, that makes him responsible for protecting everyone else, which means that he rationalizes any concern or protection directed at him as something "above and beyond", and worthy of recognition and repayment. Remember that he genuinely felt like just a vessel for power and nothing else for apparently quite a bit of his childhood, and the Sheep emphasizing that he owed them for taking him in probably did not help.

When it comes to having his back, the Mafia did this for him in a way no one else did. They protect their own, a value that aligns closely with Chuuya's own personal philosophy. The Mafia is also relatively safe from external threat, if we recall Dazai's pitch to Odasaku in Day I Picked Up Dazai - Odasaku is being targeted, but no one in their right mind would challenge the Mafia just to get to him. So, the Mafia has provided Chuuya with protection, comradery, and relative safety, which in my mind all condenses into a central need that takes precedence over everything else to him.

Chuuya's core need is actually stability.

And this makes quite a bit of sense. He started off as a kid with no memories and a whole lot of trauma he couldn't remember the roots of. One's past is a source of stability, but that had been taken from him. His position as leader of the Sheep was shaky. Even his identity as a human being was called into question. Chuuya as a kid and teen was largely untethered, separate from everyone else with no way to ground himself. Under those circumstances, something that originated as a chain could easily become a safety rope.

And once Chuuya found this stability, there was really no need for him to change anything. So he didn't. He settled into his new role and became really, really good at it, and didn't bother to re-evaluate beyond that. Why would he? That minimal core need has been met, despite the rocky beginning.

Which brings me to this second ask because it's actually incredibly relevant. Yes, Chuuya and Sigma are alike. You are not losing it anon.

Let's run a list, shall we? They both awoke with no memories and a missing history, and had their humanity called into question. They were used and blackmailed repeatedly, which they were, fortunately and unfortunately, consciously aware of. When they find something that matters to them, they become violently defensive of it. They both operate on principles of reciprocity and transaction because that is what they believe to be normal in relationships (Sigma's ability even is quite literally a transaction!). They both have pretty low standards for their assistance (Sigma hearing one (1) single person (Atsushi) be kind to him in what he thought were his last moments, Chuuya "You have helped Chuuya! Chuuya will now kill and die for you!" Nakahara).

Above all else, they are looking for stability. They are looking for a home.

As of yet, Sigma hasn't found a true home, but it seems we may be building up to him joining the ADA. The key part is Sigma's realization that the Agency doesn't rely solely on transaction. Dazai is not using the Agency, the Agency is not using Dazai. The Agency members are all helping each other. They care about each other.

Meanwhile, Chuuya has already found a place that provides his core need, but there's one caveat about the Mafia that should be clarified here - as Odasaku says in Dark Era, people within its ranks don't talk about personal matters and feelings with each other, and everyone instead keeps to themselves. If you don't talk about your issues or air them out, relations tend to stay personally shallow and dictated almost entirely by the demands and positions of the organization. This is not a conducive environment for reappraisal or self-exploration.

Unfortunately, this is ideal for Mr. Chuuya "I'll keep all my emotions right here and then one day I'll die" Nakahara.

Chuuya has found some measure of stability - solace in his own self-defined identity in spite of the initial ambiguity as to his humanity. "This is who I am", "Till those flames die down, I can't just do whatever I want", "I'm gonna do what I need to do", etc. But importantly, this identity is entangled in whichever group he happens to be a part of, which in this case is the Mafia. This kind of self-identity cannot exist without the structure of an organization. It relies on the reciprocity of a group.

Moreover, it relies on Chuuya showing very little vulnerability. Compartmentalize, and move on. He expects that of himself.

So, we've established that Chuuya has his core need for stability met by the Mafia - a relatively secure place that runs on transaction, which is familiar to him - yet it also doesn't push him out of his comfort zone with respect to emotional vulnerability and openness. What this means is that, in the Mafia, Chuuya is practically invincible, both physically (his ability, his martial arts prowess) and emotionally (personal life kept hidden and guarded as a Mafia expectation).

Unfortunately, this means Chuuya also remains stagnant as a character, which finally, finally brings me back to your original question anon.

No, I don't think the vampirism is enough to trigger change in Chuuya's character. Chuuya has some standards, and treating him like a tool (and Dazai's tool, no less) is going to seriously piss him off, but that's anger at Fyodor, and it doesn't impact his stability with the Mafia any which way. If Chuuya had've been forced to activate Corruption to escape the drowning then maybe he would've been angry with Dazai enough for something to shift (activation being his own choice is a huge theme with them), but since he didn't, I expect Chuuya will unfortunately just shrug it off and roll with it. Probably yell at him for a bit, but nothing that would have far-reaching consequences for his character unless there is something about his current situation we don't yet know.

I think for Chuuya to grow and change as a character, he needs something major to shift in his life - the threat has to come from within his place of security. He needs to be destabilized. Something needs to happen that specifically targets his tethers and his self-concept.

Personally, my money's on the destabilization of his bond with Mori, who he has the most respect for, because that might trigger development related to leadership and goals, but I guess we'll see. I think it'll probably be incredibly heart wrenching and hurt us all severely, whatever it is.

Zora princess engagement

The Legend of Zelda has a history of Zora princesses falling in love with/being engaged to the Hero of Hyrule/Link

So therefore, in Echoes of Wisdom, I would like for:

A- Zelda to run across a Zora princess engaged to Link and tell her hands off, he's kidnapped

B- Zelda to be engaged to a Zora princess and tell her no, Link is kidnapped

C- With both the river and ocean Zora being in Eow, BOTH Link and Zelda were engaged to Zora royalty, who are pissed that they now have to marry each other instead since Link is kidnapped

This is half joking but tbh I really would love for the Zora engagement trope to show up again

I mean the entirety of Eow is set up for Zelink. He chases her. She chases him. It's the idea that they're not whole without the other- if Link is taken so is Zelda. (see what I did there. Taken. Like kidnapped but also taken like in love with someone already. So they're both taken- ok moving on)

So yeah the zelink is so strong in this game from the four minute trailer(s), I really wanna see a Zora engagement because of the potential for *drama*

OH BOY, DO I.

( Disclaimer before you read this monumental thing: these advices are all from my personal experience while I was staying into a pretty toxic RPC before coming here and starting to heal and make friends, other than developing other hobbies aside from roleplaying. I briefly reference a small drama I had on my Sampo that solved itself, and nothing else.

I sound old, tired, traumatized and jaded, because I am. Take my advices with a grain of salt. )

1. You should be careful of who you allow into your mains/affiliates. Expecially when shipping. A person who is just as smitten with your ship as you are, that gives off a warm energy and will put effort into showing you just how much they like the couple you're roleplaying and does so consistently > someone who essentially lovebombs you for a month, and loses interest when they think you've been ''bagged'' like a collector's item. You're not a fucking carton of milk, and the effort you put into your writing should be met with the same effort to prioritize and do stuff with you. Being ''lovebombed'' is essentially what happened to me on my Sampo and why his muse for me is non-existent now- also, why a ship for him that I particulary like now summons no emotions in me. If it feels particulary intense, it should bring out your gut feeling instead of making you feel flattered.

Be kind, be open, make friends and have fun, but also be wary of weird behaviors.

2. A good partner doesn't dismiss your feelings, or tries to pretend those don't conveniently exist because it inconveniences them. Your feelings and hurt should be addressed and respected, and you should not feel like a doll picked off the shelf to be played with for a while when engaging with someone. If you feel cast aside for someone new and shiny and it unnerves you, step away from the situation entirely. The person who sent me to therapy used to do this to me all the time, expecially when they were in the wrong and caused me harm: complete dismissal, or ghosting until I had to drop the issue and act like it never happened.

Be wary of dismissiveness and generally about a person being unpleasant to you or doing stuff that makes you feel weird. If there's a problem you bring to their attention and they don't apologize and try to see your point of view as a mature and empathetic person would try to do, politely part ways and go on your own after trying to converse about it with them. Successful or not, you WILL have communicated what you felt, and that's your priority. If it's a problem that doesn't get solved, walking away is always an option.

Make this not the hill you'll die on- but the hill you'll kill the other person over before leaving. Invite them on a treasure hunt to find out who the fuck they think they're talking to, if they think you can be disrespected and cast aside like you don't matter.

3. No priority? Return the energy to sender. As a main/affiliate of someone, your character or ship should receive a minimum of priority over others, in terms of replies, ask memes and threads while someone splits their attentions over other stuff. At least, this is what the concept of affiliates/mains seems to entail to me. Why would anyone put someone as their main or affiliate if all they're going to do is make them engage in a chase for attention and put them at the bottom of their priority list? At this point, don't make them into one of both of these things. It doesn't make sense to me, but let's move on.

If you don't feel prioritized and like you're the last wheel of the cart when it comes to being replied to, sent memes or unprompted ask while everyone else is being sent things, having ideas discussed with and being started stuff with, what you should do is take a marginal note of this and reply to other stuff in the meanwhile. Give priority to those who show you a warmer energy and consistent interest. You should try not to assume that something is being done maliciously, unless there's a problem. And, if there's one, you gotta have trust in your roleplay partner that they'll bring up to you to have a discussion. There can be carelessness and flakiness, even somebody being so comfortable around you that they think nothing of this can be an issue, but most of the time these are solved if brought to notice to the other person. It happens.

What I advise you with, however, is: set a clear boundary, and refuse to chase for attention. It creates a dangerous dynamic where you could be taken advantage of, and this comes from a person who was made to chase others consistently in order for these people to see me after the first month of ''lovebombing'' me, creating a ship and showering me with attention and friendship. Set clear boundaries, say ''if the effort becomes one-sided I will break the ship'' and stick to it. If you see somebody sending to everyone long, poetic unprompted asks but it's never your turn to get one, prioritize other people who fit your roleplaying style better and that you know will send you unprompted stuff, if this is what's important to you. Don't chase, be on even footing with your partners, or politely part ways with them and walk another road.

Never, and I repeat this for your own good, NEVER chase after someone who sends you weird mixed messages that induce anxiety.

Acting interested, then dismissing you for unknown reasons? Unacceptable behavior. Making you feel more like an intern entertainer than a roleplay partner and making you feel like you have to struggle or cater to them in order to notice you? Unacceptable behavior, again. Showing you attention, then pulling back and stuffing you at the bottom of your priority list? Unacceptable behavior.

As soon as something makes you feel weird, politely excuse yourself and move on with the people who have an interest in you.

4. You should ALWAYS be proud of your writing. Even in the days that you produce something that, for your standards, sucks, you should be proud to have written something at all. And if one day or some more you can't write, be proud that you're giving yourself time to kick yourself back in gear. You should do at least one day per week where you find a particulary good piece that you wrote and simply preen in front of it. This was all you! We should totally make this a weekly or monthly thing.

Look at your writing with affection, even in the worst days, even when you can't write for the day. Stop thinking ''oh nooo I didn't wrote anything today'' and think ''I'm just resting so I can give my partners replies my all when I'm good, at my own pace''. Your own pace is your own pace. People that love you will stick to you no matter how ''slow'' you think you are at writing.

5. See the red flags and LEAVE. My first suggestion, when you find yourself in a situation that gives you a dose of stress that starts to limit your creativity or makes you not want to be in a place, is the same advice that I'd give to someone being bit by a zombie: cut away the infection site and clean what's left, hoping for the best. I'm speaking from experience that me staying in a mentally and emotionally abusive situation with a friend/roleplayer, aka the Person that sent me to Therapy, has left me with some lingering effects despite me recovering with time. It is to be expected.

I was not being seen. The effort that I put into my writing was not being recognized. My ideas would slide off them like water on a duck's back. I would never get prioritized, and I had to see everyone else receive thoughtful, long stuff as memes or unprompted things while it was never my turn to receive one. It felt like being the weird kid again at 8 years old, and nobody wanted to play with me. I felt small and insecure. My behavior changed drastically and instead of extroverted and chatty I turned quiet and anxious. I was afraid to share my ideas, because if this person didn't liked them, maybe my ideas sucked. I burned myself out trying to make ideas that appealed to them, but didn't appealed to ME and felt wrong on my character. I would be aknowledged in a panicked state only when they felt me pulling away and getting ready to move on. This happened many times.

If you are in a situation that's making you question your worth, EVEN OUTSIDE OF ROLEPLAY, leaving is always an option. Saying ''this is not working, see you around'' should always and foremost be your option should the stress start affecting you too much. Staying in situations where I should have left before it did any permanent damage has left me with, you can say it!, very permanent emotional damage. I would be more normal and less anxious if I left, so I'm advising you to leave red flag-gy situations as soon as possible.

Don't stay to do damage control. Stay because you don't have to control the damage, because there's no damage to control.

6. Don't ''compete'' with others for attention. Sometimes, the roleplay partner that you really want attention from will be more focused on someone or something else. Mutuals that usually like your stuff will be busy/away and won't always like your stuff. This is not my first warning that getting attention can become addicting and turn the enjoyment of writing into an attempt to try and produce stuff to cater to everyone's tastes to get that attention back on you. Doing so will create an awkward air around you, and will also burn you out. Attention is addictive. I had people banking on me chasing them for attention, and chasing me desperately when they noticed that I was interested in another partner or simply doing my own stuff, ''lovebombing'' me back into chasing them. It was not pleasant, nor healthy. These people didn't knew how to entertain an healthy behavior.

I'm specifically wary of the first month/month and half of engaging with someone, expecially if it's a ship. There are a few ways that tingle my Spidey Senses, but this is getting long already, and I can't reveal all the aces up my sleeve, lol. I usually wait to see if I'm an exciting novelty for them and if the attention diminishes considerably after that month/month and half, or if their enthusiasm keeps going without issues and the interest is still present. I also give a glance at how they behave around their other partners before I jump into anything with anyone, what happens when someone new starts roleplaying with them, etc. Which is how things should be done. Friendly and open, but wary until trust is being actively built and there's no anxiety-inducing weirdness.

7. Obviously, set your own pace to not get overwhelmed. Going away from all that stuff where the Old Jaded Sam warns you away from weird people, seriously. Say ''today I'm going to respond to this this and this'' and try your best to reply to at least one thing, or seeing the drafts pile up will be overwhelming. Don't be afraid to drop threads or asks, just warn other people that you're going to without feeling bad and plot something else for when you feel like it and when it's comfortable for both of you.

Wait hold on, in his anniversary video Barbatos mentions the mc being the brother's attendant?

But in the other videos, it's implied that they don't remember the mc leaving (which is actually something im very disappointed about and really hope isnt the case in the actual story)

In these two specifically, it seems like they aren't aware of the mc's presence in the past/alternate timeline/whatever it is. The only other person who seems like they know is Lucifer

Which also lines up with the end of lesson 40, where he's the only one who says welcome back? So like?? Do only him and Barbatos know? Did they not tell anyone?? Diavolo would probably know as well but I haven't seen anything to show that yet. Anyways I don't really like where this is going, I would really prefer they not make everyone forget the mc disappeared
